Hello brit,my interview is on this coming Saturday,i received an email from embassy saying my baby’s form DS260 is not in their file,i should fill it before interview does it mean i should i fill another ds260 at the interview ?despite being having it with confirmation number
Thanks
September 5, 2018 at 14:16
THey are telling you to complete the DS260 before the interview – right? So do that!
September 5, 2018 at 14:31
Sir i have already the ds260 for me,my spouse and our baby,we have completed medical the 3 of us our interview is on 8.9.2018 should i have two ds260s for the baby or i take the one i created for the baby last year?
September 5, 2018 at 15:45
Yes
September 7, 2018 at 13:14
Hi,
I might be able to answer your question. Did you tell them that you have already filled out DS260 for the baby as well? Similar thing happened to me, once I was current embassy contacted per their default procedure. The e-mail has requested that I sent them DS260 for my wife or fill out and submit. I have replied them that I had already filled out and submitted the form. After that they didn’t request anything, they didn’t even reply. Everything was fine for us.
Thanks
September 5, 2018 at 14:02
Hello Simon,
My wife is syrian and we went throughout the interview in june and we got refused.
Suddenly the embassy today called us and they told us to send the passports in aramex because we got the approval.
Is anyone had the same case?
I checked the ceac website but still showing refused and it was update on 5 September 2018
What is your opinion ? Will they give us the visa ??
Thank you
September 5, 2018 at 14:18

September 5, 2018 at 18:30
I had my interviewed in kathmandu, Nepal on August 16 and consular told me to submit I-134 form and tax return of my sponsor’s and I submitted from Bank. After that embassy mail me my submitted documents are not sufficient to overcome the public charge so submit again my sponsor’s new I-134 form with including details of my sponsor’s family with explaining our (sponsor and my) relationship ? Also explaining letter from my sponsor , how he going to support me after my arrival in usa.
Or alternatively , explaining latter from me how I am support myself after arrived in usa.
My question is
1) Can Nepal’s embassy (consular) allow to change my sponsor new (who is my very closest friend ) or should I re- submit my old sponsor’s new I-134 form and other supportive letter?
2) if I change new sponsor then should I need to inform us embassy about my sponsor change by email ?
September 5, 2018 at 19:14
I don’t know why the previous I-134 was not sufficient. Was it because the income was too low, or was it because he did not complete the form correctly./
September 6, 2018 at 04:42
I also don’t know about this. my sponsor’s annual income is $35802 and he live with his wife and daughter in New York .
If I change my sponsor then it’s accept by embassy to approve my visa ?
Please suggest me
Thank you
September 6, 2018 at 04:57
Read this and check the income needed.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
September 6, 2018 at 18:42
Thank you britsimonsays for this guidelines of income needed .and I read this and understand too.
But my current question is
If I change my sponsor new one ( how is my relative, pr holder of usa, and have income about $60000) then can usa embassy allow my new sponsor to approve my visa?
I’m waiting you positive response ,
Thank you
September 6, 2018 at 18:48
That is up to the CO/embassy. I can’t predict their decision with certainty.
September 7, 2018 at 02:56
Hi gentleman, if I may help you because I’ve gone through the journey and I’m grateful to BritSimon. Yes it’s because your sponsor annual income is low it should be around $110,000 or minimum 100,000 yes you can change your affidavit of support Form i-134 by sending the embassy email address to your sponsor and he/she will mail the embassy directly in that case you will only print a copy for your records and you might not even asked. Below 100,000 and your sponsor has to take care of people here in the US I don’t think they gonna accept that because they don’t want you to become a public charge.
September 7, 2018 at 05:22
Your numbers are WAAAYYY to high. Nothing like that is needed. I appreciate you are trying to help – but probably best to leave it to me.
September 7, 2018 at 09:27
Thanks for your advise Korona,
But I think minimum $100000 income is to high, what about $60000 annual income ? $60000 isn’t a sufficient for take care of my?
And I’m carrying around $5000 with me and I’ll definitely gonna doing a work in usa so how could I become a public charge?
September 7, 2018 at 14:08
This is not a matter of what someone “thinks” – there is a forumula that is applied – described here –

September 5, 2018 at 19:34
Hi brit,
I would like to thank you for all your help and answering my questions throughout this long process. Im a 2018 dv winner and doing AOS. My case was approved and just received the greencard. However, my file wasn’t requested from KCC. I called before and after the case was approved and I even called after receiving the green card. And kcc keep saying that my file was not requested by the field office. I’m just worried that I will face technical issue with my greencard in the future.
1- isn’t it a necessary step that the field office need to request my file from KCC before approving the case?
2- Is that something I need to worry about??

Hi Mo, I am a DV 2019 AS winner and doing AOS also. Do you mind to share your email address or contact details with me ? I just want to ask you some questions about the documents your prepared and the process you’ve been through if you don’t mind.
Thanks

There is no better DV AOS resource that “Mom’s” threads, and any discussions should happen in public, so that information exchanged can benefit all.

hi
If i participated in dv2019 and was not selected, and I want to apply for a B1/B2 visa there is a question in the form asking if i ever applied for an immigrant visa? shall i check this box or what? thanks
September 5, 2018 at 20:35
The entry to the lottery is NOT an application for an immigrant visa. If you were selected and then filled in a DS260, that would be considered an application for an immigrant visa.
September 5, 2018 at 20:39
thank you for prompt and sufficient reply .. Cheers
September 5, 2018 at 21:00
Hi my visa was approved .i have an affair with my boyfriend.i want to take along with me.so what process should be taken to be together soon?
September 5, 2018 at 21:16
You would get married, and once you are in the USA, you could sponsor your new spouse. That would take about 2 years.
September 5, 2018 at 22:56
Hello Mr Simon thank you so much for helping me from the begging to the end.
At long last the battle has ended in favour of me, glory been to God my visa has been issued. Is not easy to be on AP for 7(seven) months
God bless you and your family
September 5, 2018 at 23:08
That’s a good news! It really not easy to be on AP for 7 months! Congratulations and glory be to God!
September 6, 2018 at 01:15
Think twice,
Can you tell what is you region and when you was informed about visa clearance from AP?
September 6, 2018 at 04:14
My region is AF and my visa was issued on the 5th of September
Thanks a lot to Mr britsimon you are doing a great job
September 6, 2018 at 05:07
So KCC has alocated numbers for AF… Will they do it for EU region? Can they allocated available numbers from one region to cleared AP of other regions?
September 6, 2018 at 05:11
AD and AS are nowhere near their quotas, so that is not a surprise, but EU is much tighter…
September 6, 2018 at 15:05
Please were you required to go for another medical exams.
September 7, 2018 at 20:43
Did you pass another medical exam? What about the valid visa date printed on your visa?
We have recently the real story from a man from EU region. He passed his interview in feb 1 2018 and got AP. After 7 months AP his visas have been issued but the visas issuance date is August 29 2018 and the visas validity date is July 30 2018 in accordance to validity his medical exam. So his visas are not valid O_O that is a very stupid error. No one had been contacted him and told him renew his medical exam but there are many other people who have been informed from the Consulate to renew their med.exam due to long AP.
He has been contact to Consulate and they told him to re-pass medical exam and send them the results then wait – but they do not guarantee him and his derivatives the new visas because its limited quantity!
September 8, 2018 at 08:00
Yes. This is in Moscow Consulate probably. I read it too. People recommended him to renew his medical checkup but he requested about it the embassy. But embassy has not replied him and after that support operator by phone recommended not to renew medicals as embassy kept silence on that issue…. it is quite sad story (

Awesome news!

Hey Brit I have a equation
1. I am from Ethiopia cn2019AF13*** in my educational information section I preferred highschool diploma and it askes course of study by giving alternative degree or diploma but in my country’ the cours said preparatory and I fill this so did this cause a problems & did it affect the arrival of the 2NL
2. The visa bullet for October interview is low compared to the past did this affect the guess or the possible interview time ?
3 when we see the past history about chargeable area except Ethiopian and Egypt in October interview Ethiopia does not included under exception so for upcoming interviews is Ethiopia continue just regularly with out starting from low number??
Tnxs bro for your patency and giving a reasonable responses !?
September 6, 2018 at 15:45
1. It won’t affect the 2NL. As to whether it will cause problems – that depends on whether you meet the education requirements or not – and I cannot tell that from what you have said.
2. It’s a slow start – that’s all. We know why, it was predictable. It doesn’t signify anything else at this time.
3. As time progresses there will probably be an exception for Ethiopia and Egypt. Wait and see.
September 7, 2018 at 07:00
Dear Gabrielle…
I’m Ethiopian.. I cann’t access or review my ds 260 what is ur experience & what do u thing about the reason…??,

September 6, 2018 at 08:26
Hi dear
I am married to my cousin 7 years ago and we have two children
I am planning to stay at Washington state which is not allowed there the relative marriage
But in a few states like MA its allowed.
1-Should modify my usa address at the form to one of these stetes ?
2-can be disqualified for that if I didn’t?
September 6, 2018 at 15:51
There is no need to discuss that relationship in the DV interview.
1. No.
2. No – as long as the marriage is legal in the place where it was performed, then it is recognized in USA immigration law.
September 6, 2018 at 09:29
Hi,
I’m getting this error while checking status(DV2019):
An unexpected error has occurred. The type initializer for ‘Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection’ threw an exception.
What to do?
Thanx!
September 6, 2018 at 13:57
it works now!

Hi Brit. I am from Ethiopia and I won the dv lottery but i haven’t submitted my ds 260 yet becuase my place of birth on the dv form I filled is spelled as ‘Mekelle’ but in my passport it is spelled as “Mekele'(single l) Does it lead to rejection?
September 6, 2018 at 15:54
No. Simply enter it correctly on the DS260.
September 6, 2018 at 11:56
hi
Plz help me answer:
1. My case number is AS201924xx, can I get the second letter? If so, when?
2. How old the police certificate can be?
September 6, 2018 at 16:10
1. https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-basic-questions/
2. They should be recent – so you get them nearer the interview.
September 6, 2018 at 15:13
Hi brit,
case number: 2019EU00008xxx
“previous address” subject in DS-260
Our family traveled in Ireland for the periods listed:
10.2014-04.2015 182days
09.2015-03.2016 182days
we stayed at my wife’s sister. They have rented the house so we didn’t have a direct connection with the address throughout a rent agreement or something else. Kids were going to school (school papers), we were working (PPS, payslips, bank account)… using that address.
1. should we answer “YES” for “Have you lived anyware other than this address since the age of sixteen?”
2. a police certificate it will be needed for the interview?
see also: “any previous country or countries of residence if residing there for more than 12 months” from travel.state.gov. 12months without long pause (4-5months)? or 12months=6months + 6 months with long pause
we never interrupted connection with birth country.
Thanks in advance!
September 6, 2018 at 16:12
1. Yes
2. Yes
September 6, 2018 at 18:13
Hello Brit, ask you for an answer, do I send a ds 260 form to my husband, even though it has already been inserted into my ds 260 aplications.Thank in advance
September 6, 2018 at 18:32
If your husband wants a Green Card he will need a DS260.
September 6, 2018 at 19:25
Hello Brit thanks for all your help, I am number 2019EU27XX .
While I wait for my green card to arrive, can I work? I have heard that it takes about 1 week to a month for the GC to arrive at your location. During that time what documents do I need to get a job?
Also, is my bachelor’s degree recognized in the US, what steps do I need to take for it to be recognized (because probably it isn’t?
Also what are some websites that help immigrants find jobs?
Thank you.
September 6, 2018 at 19:44
Once you have moved to the USA your GC will take a few weeks but up to around 4 months to arrive. You can work before you receive the GC (your passport/visa will show your LPR status).
Your bachelors will be “recognized” but perhaps not as widely “valued” as domestic schools. Some jobs may require an evaluation of your degree – not all will. It depends what you’ll be doing.
There are no websites that cater to immigrants finding jobs specifically. You just use existing resources (websites, recruiters and so on 0 depending on what is relevant for your line of work) – the FAQ includes comments about such resources.
September 6, 2018 at 21:27
Dear Brit, my questions are
1. Does’t unlocking ds 260 could be a reason for a deep scrutiny of all the informations or documents by the consulate/ visa officer?
2. Does unlocking ds 260 form by itself has no risk at all??
Thanks!
September 6, 2018 at 22:48
1. No
2. No
September 6, 2018 at 22:53
Hi brit
My cn is 2019af40xxx.based on analysis of 2019 selectee. Do I hv a chance to b scheduled for interview in July or August? ?
September 6, 2018 at 22:59
This is what I have to say about time f interviews at this time.
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2019-basic-questions/
September 7, 2018 at 03:07
Hello Sir, I’m thinking of changing my interview location, since my interview is next year summer AS 10*** , if i change it now does it still affecting on delayed interview? China GuangZhou to Indonesia Jakarta. I read a lot and you said that might be risky, but i will Do it like right now, not even near my CN interview
September 7, 2018 at 05:22
Not risky to do it now.
September 7, 2018 at 07:20
Hi Brit…thanks for all your efforts. Please!!! 1.can you enlighten me how to go about checking my visa status because each time I tried checking under ceac Immigrants Visa section it’s appear simple but after input all correctly it still displays invalid CN.
2. Is it still early to check for Dv 2019AF10*** submitted ds260 since 1st week July.
3.From experience I want to know if a region can go Current in the 2nd or 3rd visa bulletin of a fiscal year (ie Oct or Nov visa bulletin precisely)
September 7, 2018 at 10:44
There is no Visa status to check for DV2019. None of the selectees nas been interviewed as FY2019 hasn’t even started. You check status POST interview because you can’t check the status of something that doesn’t exist. Ds260 is not the Visa.
As for the data, it’s available for all to see. Look at the history of visa bulletins over the year and you’ll have the answer to your question.
You’re from AF, use your own judgement for a second and you’ll know if that happen or not… really
September 7, 2018 at 14:06
1. You can’r check yet.

Hello,
A friend of mine was selected for DV 2019. He had interview at the US Embassy and he was informed that his case is approved and the visa will be sent to his address shortly. However, he did not get his passport with the visa for 6 months. Lastly, they sent him his passport with out visa. He called them and also sent them several emails. they are could not give him any valid explanation. Can You advise him what to do?
September 7, 2018 at 21:41
I have no idea – because your information is inaccurate and vague. I would need ACCURATE detail to make any comment. Case number (with region and year), when was the interview and so on.
September 7, 2018 at 23:02
I read this message in twitter
I received now the email!!! “Dear Diversity Visa Program entrant: Additional names have been added for DV-2019 selection. Please use your unique confirmation number, last/family name, and year of birth to check your status on Entrant Status Check at dvlottery.state.gov/ESC.”
It means that is a second draw ?
September 7, 2018 at 23:38
Yes!
September 7, 2018 at 23:42
Is there realy a second draw ??
September 7, 2018 at 23:44
Well, if that email is genuine – then yes.
September 8, 2018 at 18:01
It’s very strange. @TravelGov says on 27 Aug 2018 “No, we are not anticipating a second drawing for DV-2019. The DV-2020 entry period will open in October 2018.”
Here is the proof link
https://twitter.com/TravelGov/status/1034214638722801665
September 8, 2018 at 18:07
Oh, here is the thread you mentioned above:
https://twitter.com/TravelGov/status/1038211462051913728
“We do not email DV entrants. You can check your status for DV 2019 at http://DVlottery.state.gov .”
September 9, 2018 at 03:59
Actually, that is not correct. In previous 2nd draws, such emails have been sent.
September 8, 2018 at 20:58
when you read this mesage??
September 8, 2018 at 03:36
Hello Brit. I am 2019 winner. I have two children. 1 and 3 years old. Want to immigrate to USA with them. I have 25000 usd on my account. Also an apartment. Is my financial information sufficient not to become a public charge?
September 8, 2018 at 04:35
Ultimately, the CO will decide.
September 8, 2018 at 06:06
If he decides then i am a public charge. Will i be refused with during the interwiew? Or will co tell me to find lets say sponsor I mean wilk I be given a cahnce to find a sponsor? And question 2 is will Co give only me a visa and refuse to give the visas to children? I mean in order I to be granted with a second chance? I mean I want to go with children. But if the children is a problem i can leave them with my relative and go alone to usa.
September 8, 2018 at 14:21
You would normally (but not always) be given some time to resolve the public charge problem.
They won’t “negotiate” this down to a visa just for you and not the children.
September 8, 2018 at 09:53
Hi brit
My cn 2019af40xxx.i hv tried to no avail to open ds 260 form.it keeps saying my case number does not match their record.i don’t understand.wat am I to do??
September 8, 2018 at 14:23
There is a system problem – not just for you. But since your case number is high you have a very long time to wait until being scheduled – so just check again in a month or two.
September 8, 2018 at 12:43
Hello Dear Sir,
Last weekend, I paid the $220 fee to mail my Green card to my US address – I will activate the visa in 1 week when I will enter the US. I then created a USCIS account to see if I paid the $220 for my Green Card/case and not by mistake for other Green Card/case, but there is no place when logging to my USCIS account to check if my $220 fee was paid.
1) Is there any place/way to confirm that the $220 fee was paid for my GC case number(and not for other GC case number, by my mistake)?
2) Is USCIS account(that I created) needed? Will I confuse them? because when I login, under “case status” it says: “USCIS has accepted your application, petition, or request for processing.” – I don’t know for what reason is this case status.
3) I will enter the US in 1 week to activate the visa(which lasts for 6 months) and which expires at 27 September 2018. If the $220 fee was not paid for my case number, will I lose my green card forever, even if activate the visa when I enter US in 1 week?
Thank you Sir for your time to help me. If you provide me with as much information as possible, it will be much help for me.
September 8, 2018 at 14:26
1. You pay the fee in Elis – so you can check there.
2. It isn’t “needed” as such, noi.
3. No
September 10, 2018 at 15:21
Thank you very much Sir for your answers.
– Can you please explain what do you mean Elis in your answer 1 above. Is it a website I can check to see if the $220 fee was paid.
– Also I noticed today that I have the X-Ray CD that I got from my doctor who checked me that it was not included in the envelope that I received from the US Embassy. Is it normal to be outside the envelope that I got from US embassy(after my visa interview)? Did they forgot to include it in the sealed envelope?
Thanks Sir for your time.

Elis is where the fee is paid.
The Xray is normally not in the envelope (and rarely taken at immigration)

Thank you Sir!
So it is better to carry my X-Ray CD in my luggage, right?
Thank you dear Sir for your time.
Regards,
Labaram

1. The payment is linked to yous DOS number and your Alien number and I think those numbers are unique for every applicant(Simon will correct me if I am wrong) so check if the DOS and Alien number linked to your payment are the same as the ones the embassy gave to you.

If you are married, yes. Read the FAQ.
September 8, 2018 at 14:45
Do you think that AP the embassy’s will give them the decision either by acceptance or rejection
before 30 September?
September 8, 2018 at 15:00
Many AP cases won’t be decided before the deadline. Those cases will not be approved.
September 8, 2018 at 16:21
What about the AP of Asia
Do you expect cases to be handled fast for Asia Cases?
September 8, 2018 at 16:40
AP takes as long as it takes. It is not rushed.

Hello Britsimon !!
I am the dv winner of 2018. My visa has been already issued but i have my query which i would like to share with you and seek suggestions from you. My bf was already issued student visa and he had already booked ticket flight for USA while i was appearing my interview. My family knew about us and they wanted us to get married and we married the next day of my interview as he was flying to USA within 3 days’ of that time. I didnt get marry earlier as his flight was already fixed and didnt know what will happen to him if we get married prior to interview so i didnt mention him in my interview. Bt the visa issued date is later than of my marriage date now. I am just worried even if our marriage was real and genuine will it cause problem as my information in visa is single but my marriage date is just after the Visa interview day.
September 9, 2018 at 03:56
So what is the question?
September 9, 2018 at 05:57
So my question is will the date of my marriage ( 2 September) which is just a day after the US Visa interview (1 September) create problem while i will be sponsoring my husband after a year? As the date of my marriage will be 2 September in my marriage certificate but the visa issued date is 6 September and it shows single in my marital status of visa, will that be a matter of problem?
Thank you so much for your time and reply.

Dear Brit, my situation is follow: I had an interview a few days ago, the Concular employee said my Visa is approved, gave me pink paper (that meanes Visa is approved, and it is written there about it), he said CONGRATULATIONS, and he took my passport to put Visa there !! BUT….my CEAC status now shows AP. I am worried, what does it mean ??
September 8, 2018 at 23:21
Dear Erebi,
When did you pass your interview? Normally before a case turned into issued it pass trough AP for a few days. You should exercise some patience. Everything will be fine.
September 9, 2018 at 04:00
It means you did not read the FAQ. You should do that.
September 9, 2018 at 09:07
Dera Rutanga and Dea Simon, Thanks, now I understood the situation. Thanks again.

Hello Simon,
My family and myself received visas. I thank you very much for assisting me with your ideas on our DV journey.
We have to enter the US mid January the latest. But, my son wishes to stay back for a few more months due to difficulty in leaving behind the people and environment he values. He has just turned 18 and he has lived in England as a kid. We are trying to convince him. Me and my wife are concerned about the worst case scenario of potential worries he may develop once in the US. You would imagine the repercussions of that.
I am not sure whether there is a pathway for an appeal in this regard. Have you observed any cases being granted such extension of the deadline to enter the US? If so, kindly give me some guidance of how to go about.
Thank you very much.
September 9, 2018 at 15:11
No extensions are possible.
