Dear Mr Brit
First thanks your data gallery.
1. is the Iran banded or not for 2019 and why they have issued cs number
2. Pls tell AS maximum CS no for Asia as your astimation
September 21, 2018 at 16:39
1. The ban is still in force, but some Iranians will be able to get visas (already living in the USA, dual citizenships and so on).
2. I don’t have a prediction.

Dear Brit, I would like to get your opinion, please, My family and I went to the consulate for the interview. Everything was fine, documentation, medical, even paid the fees: they told us they would have sent our passport with the Visa at home in the next days. TODAY I got a call from the consulate telling me that they had to reject my visas because I did multiple entries with my name. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE, first, and second why would they tell me this only few days before the end of the fiscal year, after few months that they knew I would have had the interview?? I have lost months and months of hopes and now I wold say lost hope in the Whole system.
Thanks for sharing your point of view,
Kind regards,
Fausto
September 21, 2018 at 16:40
They must have found something to suggest multiple entries – they don’t just make this stuff up.
September 21, 2018 at 13:49
Dear Simon, I forgot to add that on the CEAC my cases said “ISSUED” and now AP……..If it was issued, can they change it back to AP?
Thanks,
Fausto

I always tell people, the visa is only certain once it is in your hand.
September 21, 2018 at 17:01
Hi Brit, thank you very much for your help with the DV.
I have a question regarding to the places where I’ve lived since 16 in the DS-260. I’m from Argentina and my company sent me for almost 4 months training to Mexico, but I didn’t have a legal residency there, but stayed in different hotels. Should I include this session in Mexico as a place that I lived or should be Argentina?
Thanks for the help.
Gus

Hi my brother simon one of my friend called omar dv2019 wimner he has ethiopian senior high school can he qualify for visa that certificate? Thank he need help from you
September 21, 2018 at 18:26
I don’t know.
September 21, 2018 at 19:07
Hi Simon,
I read through the FAQ and came across your information regarding the actual draw or selection process and my attention is drawing to step three of the draw which, amongst other things talks about the photo biometric matching processes. My question is, does this matching process find and remove similar or same faces from the draw? If yes, where do identical twins, living to the same place and having the same birth day stand?
September 21, 2018 at 20:54
That might get a false match – I can’t be certain.
September 21, 2018 at 21:18
Hello dear sir Simon
I have received dv visa and now i am planing on going to usa but i have two questions to ask
1. How to apply for green card
2. If i apply for green card before traveling to usa and pay its fee will i get the green card at the airport
Thank
September 21, 2018 at 21:28
You get the GC AFTER you enter the US at the address listed on your documents anything from 2 weeks to 4 months after activation at POE. You do not get anything at the airport. That’s not even remotely possible. #1 there are so many airports, #2 there are even more CBPs. Logic and common sense, please! This has been addressed so many times already. Let’s be wary of Simon’s time and patience by not recycling questions people!
September 21, 2018 at 21:31
Hello;
Simon will give more info but here is my answer to your questions:
1. I think that when you collected your passport you were given information on how to apply/pay the green card fees. Just follow the instructions given.
2. The green card is mailed to the adress you stated in your DS 260 form or the one you will state at the port of entry(in case you want to change it). You will not get your card at the airport.
September 21, 2018 at 21:34
1. You enter the USA, and that automatically starts your GC production (assuming you had already paid the fee).
2. No – see 1.
September 21, 2018 at 22:48
I have a question what is the salary should have the one who sleeps you in the USA
September 21, 2018 at 23:31
Sleeps you? I think (hope) you mean a sponsor. Read this:

Hello. I am AOS 2018 has pending name check since two month. I have only one week left for 2018 diversity visa. Is this common rejection reason for pending name check for AOS?
September 21, 2018 at 23:31
Common? No. But it does happen.
September 21, 2018 at 23:41
Thank you Sir. So is not common but it can happen. If they expediate name check how long will take. Is it enough 5 business day?
September 22, 2018 at 00:35
Expedited name checks don’t happen. If your case needs a long time for background checks, your case will time out.
September 22, 2018 at 01:25
Thsnks. But if you see page 15 paragraph 4 they mention that the can request expedite name check for DV https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/nativedocuments/USCIS_Ombudsmans_2016_Annual_Report_to_Congress.pdf
What do you think?
September 22, 2018 at 05:34
I know all about that. But in practice, it doesn’t happen.
September 22, 2018 at 03:01

Hi Simon
Is it ok to apply for a B1 Visa whilst waiting for my Interview next year or it might create an issue at the DV interview?
I need to go for a workshop in the U.S.
Thanks
September 22, 2018 at 05:38
Your B1 application is more likely to be denied while waiting for DV processing – but you can try if you want.
September 22, 2018 at 14:38
Thanks, If denied, will it affect my DV interview? i.e risk of denial also.
September 22, 2018 at 15:35
No
September 22, 2018 at 06:34

September 22, 2018 at 10:18
How many days after i need to apply ssn?or ssn will automaticly sent out after arrival usa??officer said to me come back after 2week
September 22, 2018 at 15:42
In your DS260 you chose whether to have the DS260 automatically applied for or not. So – if you did – it should arrive within 2 to 3 weeks. Otherwise you visit the SSA office.

Hi brit. My sister is living in usa now and she get a job now but her question are
1 How to get an healthcare ?
2 Do you know what is the start point to get it?
September 22, 2018 at 15:35

September 22, 2018 at 15:15

“The system is unable to process your request. Please try again later. ORA-257: archiver error. Connect internal only, until freed.”
what is the problem ?
September 22, 2018 at 20:17
A system problem. Exercise some patience.
September 22, 2018 at 18:45
Hi Simon! Thank you for all you do! I’m an F1 student student (freshly graduated on August 31st actually) Status under DV 2018.
My interview is on Tuesday. The local Boston Field uscis office (against all odds, and ignoring their normal timeline)expedited my application. A higher-up is working on the case herself, and will conduct the interview… She told me both I and her have done everything, and it all fepends on whether there are visas left…
My number is EU24***, so within the cutout for September for Europe. My question is, are you aware of the number of visas left if there is any left? If it’s relevant, I from Albania.
September 22, 2018 at 20:23
DV cases are normally processed faster than normal timelines.
The EU quota at 50k is 18300 (including AOS). As of a week ago there were 18944 issued (not including AOS). As we are already above the max – they could, theoretically, stop issuing visas at any moment, but I have not heard of any AOS cases that have been told visas have run out so far this year – and globally there are thousands of unused visas (in the other regions). So – you will only be sure once the CO checks IVAMS (their visa allocation system).
September 23, 2018 at 01:02
Hi! Thank you so much for your reply!
Excuse my ignorance, and my apologies if this is not the right thing to ask, but do you know who would it be up to decide on whether a Visa would be allocated to me?
That is assuming that there is still Visas left to be allocated (despite the allocated EU count being already over the limit)… Do AOS get a special treatment in terms of having the region they come from ignored?
I’m a bit confused on how they decide about the allocation of the extra visas despite the limit having been reached…
It’s such a wreckin process… Had I known, I would never have apllied and wasted the nearly $2k this process has taken; I feel like I should just have applied for OPT…
September 23, 2018 at 02:27
When the CO has completed the interview and has everything they need, they check IVAMS. That shows visa availability. It is by region, but in this year (as some other years) EU has been allowed to use unused visas from other regions. At some point that would stop. We just don’t know the “some point”. If there is a visa available, you can be approved – if not, you can’t.
2k for a Green Card is a gift – certainly worth a gamble. If you miss out, then yeah – it was a waste of money.
September 22, 2018 at 20:30
Hi Brits…my friend was so happy to have the 2019 as he called in this morning. But I when we access the DS260 it’s showing two names and according to him, he only remembered playing alone. Questions : 1.Should the next applicant form be ignored as he doesn’t recall playing with someone else as kid or spouse ?
2. Will there be a problem?
3. An Agent played for him but he was informed by someone else as the actual Agent is now deceased.should he enquire more?
3. Can he go ahead and add his own applicant or spouse and kids name while ignoring the already existing name showing in the CEAC form of DS 260?
September 23, 2018 at 00:24
So – he had a spouse and child at the time of the DV entry? If so he will end up disqualified. This case is probably best not proceeding.
September 23, 2018 at 02:36
Yes but the kid is less than five month old and only married legally in january before the kid was born in August. He explained that may be the Agent had used someone else he did not know and can’t get any information on this derivative. Should he ignore the form of this derivative and proceed with his or what is your advice on this issue?
September 23, 2018 at 15:18
Yes he ignores the derivative added, and add his own derivatives.
September 23, 2018 at 02:39

Hi Brit , I have a question. My son got the General Equivalency Diploma G.E.D.high school Certificate from USA in 2010 and then he further his University degree in USA and already graduated in 2015 . The question is G.E.D. Diploma is not acceptable . But he also finished his bachelor degree . Can he use his bachelor degree to apply for DVlottery 2020 in stead of G.E.D. Dilpoma ? And is he qualified for applying DVlottery ?
Thank you so much for your time !
September 23, 2018 at 15:21
He can apply. If he is selected (which is a low chance since it is a lottery), he can figure out if he meets the requirements or not.
September 23, 2018 at 09:26
Hello Brit, can you tell me what means the number 30006 for EU?? I have CN EU301XX and have any chance for interview for 2019 Dv lottery? Thanks!
September 23, 2018 at 15:23
You are confusing selectee numbers with case numbers. Read the FAQ to understand that better.
September 23, 2018 at 09:44
Hi Simon, a friend won dv2019 with 3 kids. He had not included the mother to the children as they were only cohabiting for 10 years once in a while. Can he add the wife now and marry her legally
September 23, 2018 at 15:24
Yes – he can include the mother if they marry first.
September 23, 2018 at 13:41
Hi brit today I read u r comments about Afghanistan about security and all of my friends say the dv lottry winners from afghan istan dont have visa ok but y Afghanistan is eligible for dv lottry and if donot give visas for Afghan peaple y we apply for this lottry
September 23, 2018 at 15:30
You need smarter friends.
Many Afghan cases were kept on AP for a LONG time in DV2018, but eventually were issued visas.
September 23, 2018 at 14:40
Hi Brit,
I have a concern with one of the instructions of the DV which comes at the time of playing the DV. I am talking about the one that says “You should select MARRIED even if you have not seen your spouse for long or if you intend to divorce before you apply for a visa” My question is, in the case where you have not seen your spouse in years and you select MARRIED, the online dv registration form will request for a photo of your spouse, but this spouse has not been around for years, what do I do in that case?
September 23, 2018 at 15:32
Either don’t enter or use an old photo.
September 23, 2018 at 15:39
Thanks very much Sir

Hello Che Che, I’m happy that you have received you visa as I understand but don’t you think that these silly questions are fair to be addressed to Mr. Simon that has his own time limited helping people with his advises on serious matters.
Don’t get me wrong but first you need to stop asking such questions and move on and start living and enjoying you life rather than be afraid of everything that you do and second Mr. Simon is not here to answer on any topic of your life.
I wish you best luck in US.
September 24, 2018 at 14:22
Now I see- che che is a Troll. Simply. Do not feed him
September 24, 2018 at 14:11
I can’t keep answering this type of question. You need to use some common sense.

Dear Simon, I have a question, in general, after we submit the DS-260 form, how long will we get the information about our case?
Have a nice day

Hello Britsimon,
I have a friend who is undocumented recently. He came to the US with an F1 visa, but he’s no longer a student now. He’s going to get married with a us citizen but he heard that with the new law, undocumented person has to come back to their country for the interview. Is it right?
September 24, 2018 at 14:15
I only answer DV lottery questions.
September 24, 2018 at 19:11
Is your friend illegally residing in the US? If so then why would you expect anyone to help you and him with illegal activities. As for getting married to a US citizen, it better be a real marriage otherwise they are BOTH facing serious consequences. In an era where immigration laws are getting tougher and tougher, such behavior is pure suicide. Also, your friend will probably have to go back home to pursue the process but again this is a blog for DV lottery related matters only…. You can find your answers on pages regarding the topic.
September 25, 2018 at 00:42
*Is your friend illegally residing in the US? If so then why would you expect anyone to help you and him with illegal activities. *
Dude if you ever came to New york and say this sentence publicly , idk what would happen to you bro. Very nice you got a DV visa and now you can do whatever you want.
September 25, 2018 at 02:44
I think it was a perfectly reasonable question/point to make, and I would have no problem saying that anywhere in the USA.
September 25, 2018 at 17:27
Thanks Simon. At least someone understands where I am coming from.
September 25, 2018 at 03:19
“Dude” you assume I’m a man. 2nd “if you ever came to NY”… I live in NY… the Bronx to be precise. 3rd I say what i said and best believe speaking my mind has never been an issue. 4th, this ain’t the place to spread ways to commit fraud… so yeah, Thomas… thanks for your useless intervention. I don’t support or condone fraud…
September 25, 2018 at 05:58
Alright mam i left my heart in SF , Perhaps yesterday dinner that you had in restaurant washed and cleaned by undocumented immigrant. Or even the guy who served you. You know that nYc is sanctuary city right, everyone needs a help.
nymag.com
An estimated half a million New Yorkers are undocumented. Whether they’ve lived here for two months or 20 years, they came to this city of immigrants — a place where more than a third of the population was born in another country — looking for the same things that have brought newcomers here for centuries: work and school opportunities, religious freedom, family, and a haven from violence, persecution, political upheaval, and natural disaster.
imagine someone just accidentally reveal their status to you, you would call ICE
@mr.brit im sorry Mr.brit
September 25, 2018 at 16:15
You are barking up the wrong tree. No one is saying that undocumented immigrants are bad people that shouldn’t be helped – BUT there is a big difference between showing compassion to someone, and helping someone break the law! That is NOT helping them, and not something you should expect someone to do! I spent thousands of dollars on H1 visas, and followed all the rules. I then obtained my GC through the DV process and will soon start steps toward naturalization. Do you really think I would jeopardize all that to help someone break the law – really? That would be idiotic.
It is time for you to adjust your attitude. Stop with the keyboard bravery and silly comments. It’s not needed or wanted. So – drop it.
September 24, 2018 at 09:06
Hi,
Do you know if all eligible countries are awarded the same percentage of visas? On the DV homepage it says ‘up to’ 7% but how come some countries have a higher chance of winning? Are my chances higher if I am from a smaller country with less applicants?
Also, do the 50.000 visas awarded yearly contain Derivates visas as well? Meaning, if a winner adds their spouse and child into their application, does it count as 3 visas in the statistic or as just one?
Thank you!
September 24, 2018 at 14:19
Please spend some time reading the FAQ, where these and many other questions will be answered.
September 24, 2018 at 11:30
Hi Mr. Simon,
How’s life with you and the family? I hoped fine.
My question is: Will there be DV 2020? If yes, then when will DV 2020 Application start?
September 24, 2018 at 14:19
1. Yes
2. Wait and see.
September 24, 2018 at 14:27
DV2020 will be Oct 3 to Nov 6, 2018. Some Embassies in EU announced today.
September 24, 2018 at 16:10
Cool. Do you know which embassies?
September 24, 2018 at 16:20
Belgrade, Serbia
September 24, 2018 at 17:22

Hi simon i am awinner in dv 2019 so educational document preparation for interview only my document or add to my wife education document?
September 24, 2018 at 15:56
Normally just the principal selectee.
September 24, 2018 at 14:24
Hi Brit! It may be a stupid question, but visas can be issued on Saturday/Sunday? We are on AP, and would like to know if all hope ends on Friday or we need to wait until Sunday at the end of the day? Thanks a lot for everything!
September 24, 2018 at 16:04
Theoretically the weekend could be included (if an embassy works weekends typically).
September 24, 2018 at 17:52
No,the embassy doesn’t work on weekends. That means until Friday, right? Thanks!
September 24, 2018 at 14:53
The proposal, which can be done after a so-called “public comment period,” rewrites a 1999 norm that created restrictions on money-pending emigrants, but did not take into account health care or other non-monetary benefits . Through this proposal, emigration workers are added to the powers to deny the permanent residence visa or residence to individuals who have benefited from the Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The idea is to be excluded from the possibility of permanent residency being a person who can turn into a “public burden”.
According to NBC News, earlier versions of the proposal included much more stringent measures that provided for the limitation of granting a green card and citizenship to emigrants who had used Obamacare or certain tax credits. The initiative is part of President Donald Trump’s efforts to curb both illegal immigration and legitimate emigration, a matter he stressed strongly during the presidential campaign and is seeking to turn it into an important topic even in the mid-term constituency elections at the congress .ThIS IS A REAL OR FAKE NEWS???
September 24, 2018 at 15:49
Very real.
September 24, 2018 at 15:55
It’s real obviously, but this is something you should ALREADY be aware of (public charge).
September 24, 2018 at 18:05
Hello Mr. Simon
I am 2019 DV winner, and I made a mistake on my DS-260 form. i don’t know how I get confused, but I put my high school name wrongly, only the name. Will it put my chance of visa in danger? or is there any other ways to fix it? But now I’m graduated from university and working on my fild.
Thank you for your time
September 24, 2018 at 20:23
Not a problem.

Hello Simon,
Would it be a problem to get married right after getting the visa, but before traveling to the USA?
I have this question, because the visa contains marital status.

no, but will take about 2 years for bringing her to usa. you will have to sponsor your wife

I read somewhere, that if you get the visa as a single person, you must enter into the USA and receive the green card also as a single person.

That is not true.

Well it strikes me as a lost opportunity. Sponsoring the new spouse would take around 2 years, during which time you would be apart. So – it isn’t strictly a “problem” as such – but why make life difficult for yourself??
However, assuming that advice is too late – it would be wise to inform the embassy in writing (email) to provide evidence that the marital status had changed, and you “informed” the embassy.

Unfortunately, it’s too late. Can there be any complications?
Thank you for your advice.

I can’t give such blanket statements as saying there can be NO complications. I can’t see the future – so – follow the advice I already gave.

hi
I am the primary selectee for 2019 in AS region, I have a husband and 2 grown kids 18 and 20. My husband does not want to travel with us .. I excluded him from the DS260. Will I have problems in the interview? even if i can show i cant be public charge through an I134 or cash in bank? what is the best course of action? shall I add him to the DS260 but he will not attend the interview? thank you so mucj

Your husband should be on *YOUR* DS260 as your spouse. But if he is not emigrating, then he does not need a DS260 of his own.
Will you have problems – no, not normally, but as you say it is important to show how you avoid becoming a public charge. An I-134 is the best way to do that.

Hi, so I have been selected, however I do not know which US address to provide since I have no friends nor family residing there. what are my options?
September 24, 2018 at 21:11
You need a US address, so make some friends, or find a friend of a friend…

I can help u if you want. Give me your email

Yyy, I’m sure you mean to help, but I would ABSOLUTELY discourage anyone to entrust delivery of their Green card to someone they know only from the internet.

Hi Brit. I have successfully passed the interview and I got my passport with the visa + the envelope. But unfortunately the envelope was accidentally stained by some oil ? i think the documents inside was not reached by the oil but there are a big stain on the envelope. Do you think that this will cause me a problem with the agent in the airport?
