Hi Simon
I just wanted to know what to put on ‘ ‘ Date of attendance from ‘ ‘ and ‘ ‘ date of attendance to ‘ ‘ of education
I wanted to know if we have to put year when we entered the institute and the other one the graduation years which Corresponds to the date that we left the institute example October 2007 (date of expectation from) to June 2011 ‘ (date of expectation to)??
Or here you have to just put the school year at which you had your graduation which corresponds to only one year, the final year example September 2010
June 2011
in my case i did just the last year?
what i have to do?
I searched in net and i found that I can’t correct mistake in ds260 if the date of interview is near. So if there is errors i can fix them in the day of the interview.
thank you so much Simon have a nice day.
November 2, 2018 at 14:11
Its not a big problem. discuss at the interview.

Hi Brit
i m really appreciative what you have done for me in 2016 , i was DV 2016 and arrived in America on Dec 16 since that time , i was here working hard , paying taxes ,renting a house insuring my car and every thing for a citizen to do , just wanted to go back home for family emergency. so i was a bit confused as my country is trump’s muslim ban list (Somalia).
so my question what do u think , will i have a problem when i m coming back to America (port of entry)? may you provide me more and recommendation on that , i asked you this because really you were help full to me and your answers were very reliable. and i m not only thank full to you but i pray every time for you and your family to be blessed by God.

Hi brit i am Raj from nepal.my case number is not current but kcc mailed me.I am worrying what kcc have send to me beacuse it is not 2nl.Do everyone who selected get this mail?
Date: 11/2/2018
Case Number: 2019AS19xx
Dear
The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. Use your case number as the subject of the email. The maximum email size is 30MB. If the total size of your attachments is larger than 30MB, send multiple emails using your case number as the subject of each email. Please send your documents for KCC review only after you have collected all of the required documents for yourself and all accompanying family members. Send documents only to the [email protected] email address; for any document processing questions use the [email protected] email address.
Documents photographed or scanned with a mobile phone are acceptable, but every document must be fully legible. Illegible or incomplete documents must be re-submitted and will delay processing of your case.
All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the translation is accurate and the translator is competent to translate.
You will take original or certified copies of all documents you submit to KCC to your visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate. Submit the same documents to KCC that you will take to your visa interview. Any differences between the documents you submit electronically to KCC and the originals you present at your visa interview could cause delays in processing or refusal of your visa application.
Do not mail paper documents to KCC. Any paper documents sent to KCC will be destroyed.
For more information on required documents, refer to the Department of State’s Diversity Visa webpage.
Documents Required for All Applicants:
• Copy of passport biodata page (no translation required)
• Birth certificate
• Military records for any applicant who has previously served in the military
• Police certificates for applicants 16 years of age or older from all required countries
• If you have been convicted of a crime, a certified copy of each court record and any prison record
Collect and submit your documents promptly. Your case will not be scheduled for a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate until KCC has received and processed all required documents. Missing or illegible documents will delay processing of your case. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
If you have questions about document submission, you may contact KCC at [email protected]. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. EST).

I have never seen that email before BUT I suggest you follow the instructions as it looks genuine.
November 6, 2018 at 04:04
Hello Brit, i received the same Email as well. I checked on the website as well and it does state to submit the supporting documents to KCC.
They asked for applicant and accompanying members
1) copy of passport biodata
2) Birth certificate
3) police certificate
4)military records
5)certificate from court if you have ever been convicted
However my question is do we need to provide our educational certificate and marriage certificate?
( case num : AF12xxx, I won and my husband will be accompanying me.)
November 6, 2018 at 06:41
They list the documents required.
November 3, 2018 at 02:16
Check your email heading, and click sender email, normally it will open new mail window, and then you can see the real sender email
sometimes scammer tricks us by sending email that seems come from genuine email address
however, as Simon said, it look genuine
November 3, 2018 at 03:18
whatever be the senders mail address be sure it has noreply@ followed by mail id( like [email protected]). contact kcc once by phone to make sure its genuine ?
November 3, 2018 at 04:07
That would make no sense if they want to get documents, would it??
November 3, 2018 at 15:46

November 3, 2018 at 04:08
Probably not.
November 3, 2018 at 03:10
Hi Brit,I am a winner of Dv2019AS000006** and submitted the DS260 on 29sep2019. Today I have reserved an email from [email protected] stating that
“The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members.
In order to continue processing your case, you must submit electronic copies of the documents below in .jpeg or.pdf format to [email protected]. ”
Could you please tell me is this a common procedure? Should we submit the electronic copies of the documents before the interview? Or is this a fake email? Your quick response in matter is highly appreciated. Thank you

November 3, 2018 at 04:05
please can i register different people with one gmail account
November 3, 2018 at 04:06
Yes
November 3, 2018 at 07:16
Dear Visitors,
I have also received the request to forward electronic copies of some documents to KCC. Actually, I once asked KCC to unlock my form and resubmitted it. I wonder if only certain cases have been asked to do so or this is a new and natural trend in the DV Visa process. What do you think?
November 3, 2018 at 12:52
Several others have had the same request. I don’t know why those cases are selected.
November 3, 2018 at 07:33
Hi Brit,
My sponsor filled the I-864 instead of the I-134 form. should i tell him to fill the the I-134 form?
thanks
November 3, 2018 at 12:53
Yes. The I-864 is useless.
November 3, 2018 at 08:01
My sponsor also sent a tax report of 2014, 2016 and 2017 but not 2015 is that ok or should he sent his 2015 tax return to me?
November 3, 2018 at 12:53
It’s ok.
November 3, 2018 at 08:09
Hi Mr. Simon,
I’d like to know if there is any change in the interview process of DV2019.
So far, after you successfully submitted your DS260 form then you would immediately get an interview date.
However, last night I got an email from KCC asking me to email the photos of my documents such
as certificate of birth, criminal record, and etc. to the address [email protected] not to KCC.
Do you think this is a problem or just a change in the process?
By the way, my Case Number is DV2019EU0054xx.
November 3, 2018 at 12:54
Change in the process, and others are getting the same thing.

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/diversity-visa-program-entry/diversity-visa-if-you-are-selected/diversity-visa-prepare-supporting-documents.html
Diversity Visa Program:
Submit Supporting Documents
After KCC receives and processes the DS-260 application form for you and your accompanying family members, you will receive instructions for how to scan and upload required supporting documents. Your interview will not be scheduled until you submit scanned copies of all required supporting documents, following the guidelines below. You will bring the original documents to your interview with the consular officer. It is strongly recommended that you begin this process early.
November 3, 2018 at 08:55
Hi Simon, can KCC fail to schedule a case number which is current despite sending ds260 on time and close the dv period without sending the 2nl
November 3, 2018 at 12:56
Technically it is possible.
November 3, 2018 at 12:41
Good day Brit, I am a Selectee for DV2019 in which i am the primary applicant. I am an accountant working in another district far from my wife. In 2016 her office made an A1 visa application for her which I was not aware of because I was far apart. So during when I was filling her own DS 260, the Question ask have you been issued a US Visa I filled No and have you been refused a US Visa I also said No. Just today when I was reviewing she told me that her office made an application for her but it was unsuccessful and she didn’t even do a finger prints at all. So now we are about to go for the interview have just know this. Brit please help me how can we handle this during the interview next week. God will bless you for your advice. Please Brit am really stressed out.
November 3, 2018 at 13:14
If asked, just explain the truth.
November 3, 2018 at 12:58

November 3, 2018 at 15:43
Dear Simon,
Thank you very much for all the information you have provided on this blog.
I have a question that I haven’t seen answered yet. My apologies if it was answered and I missed it.
I was drawn in DV2019 and I plan on submitting the form in January. However, upon closer inspection of the photo I used for the entry, I noticed that my photo had been edited – a wrinkle was removed from the side of my eye. I went to the studio to ask about it to which the photographer said he put a “skin-coloured circle” there. It isn’t visible to the naked eye (likely to be found if analysed by software?). Nevertheless, no idea what the man was thinking as I said I needed a passport photo, but it is what it is.
Could somebody please advise me on whether it would significantly increase the risk of denial?
The reason I am asking is because I would like to do a PhD programme in the US, which can also be done on an F-1 visa so if the risk of green card denial is significant, it is not worth it for me.
Thank you.
November 3, 2018 at 18:51
It is a trivial risk.
November 3, 2018 at 23:24
Thank you very much for the information!
November 3, 2018 at 23:08
Dear Phil.
it does not matter the photo was edited by the photographer for the initial DV submission form but so just go on and fill the DS 260 form for the Interview appointment and when u get the appointment for the interview in your country consulate then go and take a new photo for the visa and dont do any kind of editing in that photo. so it wont affect your DV interview and visa process except if there is any other issue.
you dont need to submit photo electronically or soft copy of it but they will ask for hard copy of your photo for the visa process.
and that thing about your PhD it has nothing to with this and if u mention it or if you dont mention it. It still wont affect your DV visa process.
so best of luck.
November 3, 2018 at 23:24
Thank you very much!
November 3, 2018 at 23:35
Dont worry Phil, it is OK. The studios in my country also edit the photos a little and their dv lottery winners havent had any problems.
The US consulate only looks for big editing changes, like changing your eyes, nose and mouth and anything that might make you unrecognizable. So not a problem for you.
November 3, 2018 at 18:19

November 4, 2018 at 00:05
Hey Simon. quick question, are background photoshopped pictures allowed when applying to dv lottery? i’ve been applying since dv 2017 and each time i took a picture the guy that works at the studio edited the background to look white, i didn’t think much of it at first but a couple of weeks ago i read somewhere that no editing whatsoever is allowed, is that true?
thanks,
November 4, 2018 at 02:39
The rules say you should not edit the photo – but generally minor background changes are OK.
November 4, 2018 at 01:02
Hi brit,
i’m 2019AF30xxx i am tempted to unlock my DS260 . My concern is; In filing out my form i chose the expression ” i don’t know” to answer the place of birth of my mother ( city, state, country) whereas i know my mother is born in cameroon even though her place of birth isn’t mentioned in my birth certificate.
What should i do ?
Thanks in advance!!!
November 4, 2018 at 02:40
Unlock if you want. It isn’t a big problem.
November 4, 2018 at 13:38
Thank you brit for the time you allocate for the world population this is great of you. i know God is not silent to your deeds.
November 4, 2018 at 02:10
Hi Brit,
My girlfriend has been selected for the green card lottery, now she prepares herself for the interview.
On the other side, I’m traveling to U.S under B1 visa, I have some businesses to manage there.
We were planning to marry before the lottery thing appears, now we think if we marry before her interview and adjust her married status, that will decrease her probability to get the green card.
So, our plan is to wait for her to pass the interview and get the entry visa, then get married, travel to U.S both, under my B1 visa, and her entry visa. Then file for I-130 and I- 485 to adjust my status.
So what do you think of this plan, and how long does it take to get the green card for me?
November 4, 2018 at 02:42
Your plan is idiotic.
Get married before she is scheduled. Get on with it.
November 4, 2018 at 04:00

November 4, 2018 at 07:12
Dear Simon,
I want to participate in this year’s Greencard/DV 2020 Lottery but there are two questions I don’t know how to answer – – what’s my “Country where you live today” and my “Mailing Address?
I’m currently staying in USA on an A-1 visa (for diplomats) until October 2021.
Should I write US or my country? And regarding the mailing address, the address in USA or the address in my country?
I would be grateful for your prompt reply.
November 4, 2018 at 14:57
They are not trick questions. Write where you live and mailing address.

Hi brit im dv winner and i got the visa and im ready to go for states next week so I wanted to ask if the mid term election result will affect our entry like what happened before
Thanks in advance
November 4, 2018 at 18:27
No affect.
November 4, 2018 at 21:51
Hey Britsimon
My sister and her child won the dv lottery and already got a visa. They are to travel in January 2019. The “sponsor” in Baltimore that they used to get the visa has since refused to sponsor them due to a misunderstanding but has said they have no problem receiving green card and the social security and mailing it to any address once they get a new sponsor. Luckily a family friend in Kansas has accepted hosting them.
Q1. Do they have to tell the consular at the POE of what has transpired
Q2. Should they go straight to Kansas from POE
Q3. Will it affect the green card if they go straight to Kansas and alert the USCI within 10 days after moving to Kansas
Thanks alot and God Bless
November 5, 2018 at 05:20
1. No
2. Yes
3. No
November 13, 2018 at 10:58
Thanks alot for responding if i may add.
Q4. Does the consular at POE enquire about final destination?
Q5. If so should she say she’s going to Baltimore but then go to Kansas
Q6. OR just say she’s visiting Kansas but would later go to Baltimore
Q7. Is there a problem traveling around the US before the green card arrives.
Thanks again. And God bless
November 13, 2018 at 14:56
You are overthinking this whole thing. Go where you want. Answer questions truthfully.
November 4, 2018 at 22:22
Dear Simon,
I hope you are enjoying with this weekend,
I have concern I pretty sure you can help me, I entered USA July 28 of this year, and we all received the Green Card, and we have a baby will deliver this month, and we have plan to back home country by December 2018 for at least a year because of Family matter.
my questions are
1- when should I have to enter USA again in next year before July 28, 2018 or before the day I leave USA ?
2- regarding to TAX should I file a TAX before I leave ? I didn’t work in USA, but I may work for this month only that I may get less the $1000.

Hello Simon,
Wish you are fine!
First of all thank you for your patience and readiness to answer our questions.
When I received the visa package, the Embassy gave us some instructions and among them they stated that a fee for the green card should be paid before we entered US. We are experiencing some financial difficulties and might not be able to pay it before we enter in US.
My questions are:
1. Is it a must that the fee should be paid before entering US borders?
2. Does POE officers require receipt of green card payment?
Best Regards

Dear BritSimon
I need your help, I have received the KCC email where they indicate that I have to send the documentation via email, my question is.
1) The documents to be sent must be legalized or apostilled
2) You have to send the translations to the English language of the documents.
Thanks for your help.

Follow the official instructions, and the clear instructions in the email.

Hi Simon,
I want to ask about the country of chargeability. You wrote:
“So – you enter country of birth as your country of chargeability EXCEPT in the following examples.
1…….
2.If your parents were temporarily in your country of birth and neither of them was born there themselves, you may be able to charge to one of their birth countries.”
My question(s) is:
A person born in the Netherlands (eligible) while their parents were living/working there for 3-4 four years. Parents are from Sudan. Aiming to apply before the deadline tmrw.
1.Are they chargeable to the Netherlands only? Sudan only? Or any of the two?
2. Any of the two countries/regions has a better chance than the other?
Thank you

You just entered a lottery where your chance of selection is once every 200 years. Calm down and wait to see if you are selected.
