Hello Simon
I would like to ask if the address of the DS260 (for delivering GC) need to be the same as the address of our sponsor? Because we will fill the DS 260 and we haven’t found a sponsor yet?
July 22, 2019 at 22:41
No it does not.
July 22, 2019 at 22:12

Hello Britsimon,
I am a selectee of DV2020AS25xxx.
I lost my current passport (it still under expiry date), and I’ll apply for a new one next week.
I am not submitting DS260 yet.
When I submit the DS-260, I will use the new passport for it.
My question is : I only can take the new passport for interview (the old one is disappear), will it be a problem?
Thank you very much.
July 22, 2019 at 23:39
No problem.
July 23, 2019 at 03:05

July 23, 2019 at 12:21
mr .simon,
further add to question , I am the principal applicant . but this mistake on my husband’s application.
he had a previous interview in 2010 for his master degree F1 visa .
djoseph,
July 23, 2019 at 19:48
If you are already scheduled you cannot change the DS260 now so you will discuss it at the interview.

Hi Brit, I’m selectee for DV2020 from Asia.I have several questions regarding DS260 under Education Information.
I went to two schools for my primary and secondary education. One school from Grade 1 to grade 5 and another school from grade 6 to grade 13. Then the university for higher education.
1) Do I need to mention all the 3 educational institutes under the education information or is that enough to add the university and the school for grade 6-13
2) I can’t remember the exact dates I have started and finished dates at these institutes.Only remember the year and the month. is it OK to add close date as I remember?
3) What would be the ‘course of study’ for my primary, secondary and university institutes?
July 24, 2019 at 01:54
Hi Brit, Please answer this.
July 24, 2019 at 03:17
1. 2
2. Yes
3. General studies.
July 23, 2019 at 09:33
Hi Brit!
I send all my documents required to my embassy, but i didn’t make a copy for my self to take it with me in the day of interview. Did I acted wrong or has changed the procedure compared to the other years? Because I will go in my embassy only with my passport and birth certificate
July 23, 2019 at 09:36
and DS-260
July 23, 2019 at 20:08
Did you do that because that is their instruction?
August 5, 2019 at 11:03
Yes of course. Everything I did, I did based to the instructions. None of them said to make a copy for every documents for my self
August 5, 2019 at 17:26
Nonsense.
This is directly from the instructions and it is mentioned in more than one place.
“Original and Supporting Documents – Bring original documents or certified copies of all documents you submitted to KCC for you and each family member applying for a visa (with the exception of your passport). You may also be required to provide evidence of work and education requirements, marriage certificates, marriage termination documentation, and custody documentation. If you have a new document that you did not submit to KCC, bring both the original and one photocopy. Your original documents will be returned to you when the interview has been completed. The photocopies will be kept. For more information, review Prepare Your Supporting Documents.”
July 23, 2019 at 10:36
Thank U again Brits. I completed ds260 now i dont know what to wait for. I read about fees to be paid etc etc. Do i have to know anything? The real answers i get are always yours.
July 23, 2019 at 20:09
Now you wait for further instructions. Read the lottery guide to understand better.
July 23, 2019 at 10:38

July 23, 2019 at 11:40
Hi Mr Brits thanks for your help this far please I have I question on 1-134 my sponsor is asked to say for how long she will support me , in other not to make mistakes and miss my chance I decided to find out from you , for how long can somebody be supported by the sponsor
July 23, 2019 at 20:12
The best is an unlimited, unspecified time.
July 23, 2019 at 20:49
Thanks for fast response mr Brits
July 23, 2019 at 12:19
Britt, we are ready for our trip to the U.S.
We won the lottery last year and got our visas. I am (my husband is the main applicant) pregnant now. I will be 3 months pregnant when we enter the US.
Do we need to mention this? Register it somewhere before entering?
The baby will be born in the US so he/she will be an american.
Thanks
July 23, 2019 at 20:16
No you do not need to mention it to anyone.
But is your visas still unexpired – you said you won it last year. You must enter the USA before the expiry date.
July 24, 2019 at 06:39
Thank you brit! We are entering next week 15 days before expiration.
My belly shows a little, we won’t have problems if the officer ask us if I am pregnant right?
Thank you for all your help.
July 24, 2019 at 06:43
No problem.
July 23, 2019 at 14:19
Hi Brit
i’m a dv 2020AF58XXX applicant ,i’m from Morocco currently studying abroad in china, when i filled DS 260 i got my interview location in china .my question is : in your opinion which place is better for interview china or in my home country ? do you think asking them for openning ds 260 and changing interview location will effect my visa ?
thanks in advance Brit
July 23, 2019 at 21:09
Your interview location is based on your home address.
So – will you be in China next summer?
July 23, 2019 at 23:21
this is the problem, i can’t guaranty that i have the right to stay in china till summer ,so i’m gonna change it to casablanca my home country , would you tell me how to change that ?
appreciate your help Simon
July 24, 2019 at 00:16
You change the current address in the DS260 – obviously do that nearer the time.
July 24, 2019 at 00:52
ok got it thank you
July 23, 2019 at 16:02
Hi BritSimon,
If a person meets the both education(currently following a masters) and work experience (required SPA and Job Zone) requirements, what happen if the person put his primary occupation as job position other than student and unfortunately failed to achieved the interview from work experience did they consider about education qualifications?
July 23, 2019 at 21:16
At the interview you present education credentials. If that does not meet the standard needed they only then ask about work experience. So – no problem.
July 24, 2019 at 01:41
So that means If it is okay to put primary occupation as job right?
July 24, 2019 at 03:18
If that is true. Yes.
July 23, 2019 at 16:07
HELLO BRIT MY WIFE, my child and I got the visa and I want to buy the green card online so I would like to have the link so I buy the green card in addition I have to create an account for myself and include my wife and my child or everyone will have an account on the site of purchase of the green card. do you have a page explaining the procedure to buy
July 23, 2019 at 21:17
When you got the visa package the embassy should have provided instructions. You have to log in to “Elis” – google it.
July 23, 2019 at 16:28
Dear Simmon
I got my oppointment in Addis Ababa on 09/09 2019. I moved nowadays in Nairobi, Kenya. So, i want to transfer my interview place for Nairobi, so how can i change my interview position from Addis to Nairobi.
Thank you.
July 23, 2019 at 18:27
It is too dificult to transfer such case because if u are already schedule 2nl the only way to do is to call direct embasy to discuss about that
Thank you
July 23, 2019 at 21:18
That would be an idiotic risk to take. Keep the appointment in Addis.
July 23, 2019 at 17:03
Hi Britsimon,
Do you know whether the medical must be performed in the country of the interview or if it is possible to do the medical in another country before hand?
Thanks,
Sandra
July 23, 2019 at 21:19
Must be in the country of interview with a physician approved by the embassy.
July 23, 2019 at 17:15
Mr. Brit,
Is the photo of dv lottary during submission quality or specification shall be effect in visa interview or ds 260 is enough?
July 23, 2019 at 21:20
The photo on the entry must meet the basic standards. If not, that can cause disqualification.
July 23, 2019 at 18:51
hi Brits,
i have problems with cheking my entrant status in dv lotery,2 months it showed me timed season out,i tryed from differents ip and hours and still same, now it show invalid information,my infromation is ok ,tryed couple of times.i dont know what to do.

July 24, 2019 at 18:22
Checked. Worked first time. Another case of not following instructions…
July 23, 2019 at 23:08
Hello Simon,
If I am currently in the U.S. as F1 and continuing my studies. Does the question on DS260 asking to list “the last five U.S. visits” includes my recent entry after coming back from overseas in the summer for classes
July 24, 2019 at 00:18
If you are adjusting status you should not be submitting the DS260 so soon, but yes – try to include the most recent entry.
July 24, 2019 at 04:39
Hi Britsimon,
My husband (2020OC000002XX) is currently working in the States on a P1 visa, which expires in October 2019. We have already submitted our DS-260, and are applying via Consular Processing. He is now in the process of preparing another application for a P1 visa to cover himself from October until we get the Green Card, but his company is worried that the Green Card process will be an issue.
Is he able to apply for a P1 while we wait for a Green Card?
Thank you!
July 24, 2019 at 05:50
The DV application would probably mess up the P1 application (but not the other way around). This is because the DS260 OBVIOUSLY declares “immigrant intent”.
Has KCC asked for supporting documents yet?
July 24, 2019 at 05:52
Thank you for getting back so promptly!
Yes, the KCC has asked for supporting documents this week.
July 24, 2019 at 05:57
So assuming you have sent them, or do so in the next week, you should get an October interview. So – then why bother with the P1?
July 24, 2019 at 06:06
True, but then I guess we run the risk of not getting an October interview, and having a gap between visa/green card where my husband cannot work… that’s an expensive gamble if there is a delay.
I guess the P1 is not impossible, just more complicated now?
July 24, 2019 at 06:27
Correct.
July 24, 2019 at 05:02
Is the form I-134 affidavit of support can be filed by the sponsor in the US and how? (for Lottery Visa applicant).
Does the sponsor have to file it with NVC online or how in US?
I know the applicant can take it to the interview but is it possible to send it with the requested documents after submitting the form DS-260.
Are all the supporting documents in the I-134 required? Can the tax return and W2 be sufficient or need to provide the letter from the bank?
July 24, 2019 at 05:45
No filing of the form in the USA. You take it to the interview. The INCOME is what is important, not bank savings.
July 25, 2019 at 07:51
Thanks Brit for your help!
July 24, 2019 at 06:42
Hi Brit? My sponsor has already filled and signed I-134 affidavit of support form, He has also applied for Tax Transcript from IRS but he has not yet received it and it has been 2 weeks already,my interview is in 1 week. Any Advice on this?
July 24, 2019 at 06:45
Not really.
July 24, 2019 at 10:09
How did your sponsor file the I-134? is this for the lottery visa?
July 24, 2019 at 06:59
Hi Simon,
Please let me ask you one question related to date of marriage filling on DS-260. I got married in January 2015. We actually celebrated our ceremony in January 01-02, 2015 (2 consecutive days). But our marriage certificate was made 3 months after marriage. Our marriage certificate was registered in April 01, 2015. The question is that, in DS-260, section Family Information at point of date of marriage, which date should I fill? Following by registration date of marriage certificate or actual date of ceremony as January 01-02, 2015 (but it doesn’t have any proof of the date by any document). However, my DS-260 already filled as April 01, 2015 following by registration date of marriage certificate. If need to follow by actual ceremony, I would request for unlock. Hope you could help!
July 24, 2019 at 12:57
Dear Brit , just for the clarification ,
i visited USA as a tourist for 3 months , and stayed in one place approximately 2 months and i remember that adress , my question should i include that place in my ds-260 ? or not ?
( DV 2020 lottery winner )
July 24, 2019 at 15:11
Sounds like a vacation only – so no.
July 24, 2019 at 21:33
thanks a lot sir, i appreciate your effort
July 24, 2019 at 21:42
I am really sorry for disturbing you sir , one more little question – refusal under INA 214B – does this affect dv applicant ?
July 27, 2019 at 01:08
That is a refusal for immigrant. Pretty OBVIOUSLY that is not a problem when applying for immigration. Use some simple common sense please.
July 24, 2019 at 14:42
Since both dates are in 2015, it doesn’t matter which you use.
July 24, 2019 at 19:25
Thanks
July 24, 2019 at 09:55
Hello dear Simon

Just follow their instructions.
July 24, 2019 at 10:50
what will happen if you forget to add middle name of your sponsorship name in DS-260?
July 24, 2019 at 15:00
Nothing
July 24, 2019 at 12:03
hi brit
if someone put his Case under ina 221g (Ap)… after the review is Completed …his case must be refuse Under 221g or 212a5a ( if they Suspect refraud thing)
July 24, 2019 at 15:06
They can refuse it under a new code OR leave it.
July 24, 2019 at 13:40
Hi Brit,
Thank you for all the support.I first entered to US in July 26 2018 through the dv lottery.Got my green card and social security and started working as an intern for a company there and left to Italy for 12 days as I was a student there to finish up some course work.Than I got back to the US after the 12 days trip in December 2018 and stayed there for 6 months and finished my internship in July .my graduation was in mid July so I have to leave for that for a month and half and now am planning to go back in August after a month and half.Should I be concerned at the POE?
I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you
July 24, 2019 at 15:13
No
July 24, 2019 at 13:45
Whene is DV lottery for 2021 coming out
July 24, 2019 at 15:14
October
July 24, 2019 at 14:30
IF u have two american anchor babies and get selected for dv lottery (babies have US passport)…Are there any changes they will decline us in interview for that .
July 24, 2019 at 15:14
No – but they may ask for proof you paid all the expenses regarding the births.
July 24, 2019 at 16:57
Hi Brit,
I was selected for DV 2020 and I have already completed and introduced my DS-260. The small problem that I have is that on the page where we add the family members I added someone who finally will not leave with me but thankfully I submitted my DS-260 without completing his info , suddenly on his field it marks “incomplete”, I try to remove his name but apparently the site does not give us the opportunity to remove a person added to our case.
my question is this, should I write to KCC to ask to remove this person from my case? or the fact that its information is incomplete will cause that they are not taken into account in my case?
Waiting for your answer please
July 24, 2019 at 17:00
Once added it cannot be removed, but incomplete does mean that person won’t be processed.
July 24, 2019 at 17:38
Hello Brit!
Last time i asked you about doc request.
For now in my region cases with 2000-5000 are asked for the docs.
Our case is 4xx and they still haven’t sent it, i’m a getting paranoid. if we don’t get checked before visa bulletin we don’t get interviewed on october? If they send it in august or september do we still get an interview in october?
Should we still wait or do we have to start asking them to send it?
July 24, 2019 at 18:13
Relax. If you miss October you’ll be the next month. No need to stress.
July 24, 2019 at 18:47
What is you region?
July 24, 2019 at 17:53
Mash Mau, Can you please tell me how did your sponsor file Form I-134? did he/she filed online and how? and was it for the lottery visa?
July 24, 2019 at 18:21
Hello Mr brit
My wife was under administrative today they called me from USA conseil told me that your wife visa issue I have waiting for one month it’s was difficult time for me I don’t know what can I said only big thank for your efforts and I hop the best for all
Thanks
July 27, 2019 at 00:29
Great!
July 24, 2019 at 19:25
Hi there! Have seen some notice board postings about this subject, however, they are a little old and are usually the reverse of what I am hoping to do…so hopefully you can provide some assistance. I won the DV for 2020. I submitted the DS-260 for myself and my husband requesting consular processing, despite the fact that we are both already living in the US. Getting time off work for the UK consular visit may now prove difficult so we would like to change the applications so they are processed within the US by USCIS. We’ve had the applications re-opened, however, now realize the application processing options can’t be edited. Do you know how we can swap to USCIS processing? Thanks!
July 27, 2019 at 00:47
You basically need to inform KCC. THe DS260 should be filed for AOS cases but is NOT how the application is processed – that is in fact the I-485. The best AOS information is available here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2020-aos-only.340762/
July 24, 2019 at 19:48
Hi Brit,
I did some searching in your blog as well as generally on the internet, but can’t seem to find a definitive answer to my question.
1. Who should all go to the interview? The applicant as well as the derivatives?
July 26, 2019 at 09:13
All applicants and derivatives should attend the interview
July 27, 2019 at 00:48
Yes
July 24, 2019 at 19:51
Hi Brit
Submitting documents for processing for DV2019 is still a gamble, possability or mission impossible by the end of July for interview in September 2019? Please advice
Thank you
July 26, 2019 at 09:14
2NLs are sent until the end of the month
July 27, 2019 at 00:49
Basically mission impossible.
July 24, 2019 at 20:18
Hello Birit again,
KCC unlocked my form,I’m the derivative I tried to change the interview instead in USA to be with my husband (main applicant) in UAE but unfortunately I can’t change,I contacted KCC and they said once I choosed the location I can’t change but by default they will schedule me with my husband in UAE, it this correct?and if correct it want cause any problem in the interview?
July 25, 2019 at 14:00
Hi Simon, could you please answer my question above.
Thanks
July 27, 2019 at 00:54
As a derivative you won’t get your own interview. You are expected to attend with the principal selectee.
July 24, 2019 at 20:18
2019EU25XXX
Hi Brit,
I’m having the interview on August 13th {Madrid) , and the medical exam on August 2nd.
I had an accident today at work (I’m the Technical Manager of an industrial plant), having a machine fallen on my back (I’m at the hospital, actually). I have a broken vertebra, and I’ll have to wear a corset for 3 months in order to recover.
Honestly, I’m extremely worried about the medical exam and the interview (I have not any other problem with the requirements, both health and education/documents ones).
Can you tell me your opinion? Should I call the embassy doctor?
Really thanks in advance
July 24, 2019 at 21:04
The medical is to assess whether you have a disease, or would become a public charge. So as long as the injury doesn’t cause long term inability to work, you wont have a problem.
Get well soon.
July 24, 2019 at 20:31
Hello brit
I am selectee of DV2020 DV2020 and my case nr 2020AS12XXX
At the present time I am a government medical doctor but I did my medical graduation in russia and I got the authority-license through the national board of srilanka medical council.
I want the answer for yes/no following ds260 questions
1)Are you a graduate of a foreign medical school seeking to perform medical services in the United States but have not yet passed the National Board of Medical Examiners examination or its equivalent?
2)Are you a health care worker seeking to perform such work in the United States but have not yet received certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools or from an equivalent approved independent credentialing organization?
July 24, 2019 at 20:38
@shukri , Brit might not be able to answer your for some days as he noted , and the answer to your questions are all NO .
They are asking if you are going to work in the USA without having the work permit . So
1 : No
2 : No
July 27, 2019 at 01:04
@Prince. There is no concern about working without a work permit. Green Card holds don’t need a work permit.
July 27, 2019 at 01:04
Thanks for noting my unavailability though!
July 27, 2019 at 01:01
You can answer those questions honestly. If you plan to be in the medical field, answer yes and yes.
July 30, 2019 at 17:56
But I answered no and no.Is it ok? Or unlock and change?
July 30, 2019 at 21:39
It doesn’t matter one way or the other.
July 24, 2019 at 23:18

Hi Brit
Just let you know that my brother just got his 2NL. AF46****
I have a question, if his sponsor is an American citizen, the sponsor must give also his ID and the others documents or only the documents required. I mean tax returns and stuff like that.
Thanks for keeping us update for everything
July 27, 2019 at 01:12
I-134 plus 1040/W2, Payslips, government issued photo ID
July 28, 2019 at 02:59
Thanks Brit
July 25, 2019 at 01:53

2. Yes
July 25, 2019 at 02:48
Hi Brit! I have my interview at the consulate coming up and I wanted to inquire quickly about fees. It has come to my understanding that you pay the fee for the diversity visa before the interview with the consulate officer which is $330. Does this need to be in U.S. dollars at the consulate or do I pay in Australian dollars? (My interview is in Sydney). Also is there another cost for the D.S. 260? or is it the same fee? And can you pay with card or is it just cash? Many thanks!
July 25, 2019 at 09:40
This guy cant answer any and everything, especially very basic questions like this
Why cant you simply look at the webpage of the Embassy itself or contact them directly – Australia isn’t exactly a backward place so I’m sure its there
If you bother looking up – ITS ALL THERE ! BELIEVE ME
You cant expect to be answered on the most basic questions
If it has come your understanding that you have to pay $330 than you must have done some “research” – continue in the vein and you’ll get the “other” answers
July 27, 2019 at 01:23
You pay 330 at the embassy. Most embassies acept local currency or US dollars.
If approved, you later pay @200 for the Green Card fee.
There is a FAQ about that…

Dear Simon,
I am DV 2020 selectee. I submitted the application. For my husband date of employment I entered 24/3 but it is 17/3. Please does that make a problem? Should I change it? Thank you for your response.
Regards

Dear Simon
My CN is AS64XX and I have already submitteed the DS260.
1. Do I need to wait more to get the email from the KCC to submit the documents.
2. My passport expires on 2021, will it be a problem or do i need to apply for a new one.
Thanks in Advance..
