I spent my interview on 23/03/2017 in Casablanca in Morocco and the consular officer handed me the document 221 g by saying that he was going to make checks on baccalaureate and we will call me back within a period of one week.
I note that they handed me my passport and told me to wait.
On CEAC, my status is always “READY” with only one update made on 29/03/2017.
Does that mean that the visa was refused?
April 4, 2017 at 12:25
No, it doesn’t mean that – it means you have to wait.
April 4, 2017 at 13:51

Hi Simon. I’m filling my forms for the adjustment of status. And i will fill the employment authorization too. I’m currently an au pair from France living in San Diego at my host family’s house. I don’t trust my host family enough to put their address (where I’m currently living) on the forms. My question is can I put my aunt’s address (she’s living in Vegas and I’m planning to move there when I’ll get the GC) or it needs to be the address where I’m physically present? Or should I wait until I receive my employment authorization and then change the address cause My DS2019 is under my host family address and my sponsor is my au pair agency. Thank you very much
April 6, 2017 at 16:58
The address you give at this point will be where you will be assigned for interviews. So – obviously the SD address is better for now. At the interview you can ask them to change the mailing address for the GC to the LV address.

April 4, 2017 at 23:18
hi simon
our consulate also requires to register for appointment and delivery address to bring it to the interview. i started filling it and i did not know what to write in “priority date” . should i write in it the interview date or is it something else.
thank you
April 4, 2017 at 23:31
DV cases don’t have a priority date. Since I haven’t been through this registration process I cannot guess what else could be entered there…
April 4, 2017 at 23:33
okay, thank you .
April 5, 2017 at 06:51

I have applied for DV Lottery and my wife is US citizen. In some circumstances we’re not able to file AOS papers, because of poor relationships between us. Do I have a chance of winning? Thank You!

There might be a small chance – wait a few weeks.
April 5, 2017 at 18:05
Thank you sir 🙂
April 5, 2017 at 10:31
Dear Simon,
I finally scheduled my interview on May 3rd 2017, and I realised that my daughter’s passport will expire on July 2017. Do you think is better to renew it before the interview or can I renew it before the expiration?
Many thanks
Elisa
April 5, 2017 at 13:44
Before the interview would be better.
April 5, 2017 at 11:45
Hi Simon,
Please I need your advice on something,
I am trying to gather proofs of existing relationship with my wife before I was selected.
in regards to that, I contacted our telecommunication providers to give us itemized bills (call logs) between the period of December 2014 to present date and the other provider January 2016 to present. that is the period in which we started using the numbers.
One of the providers emailed us the call logs for January 2016 to present , and its 282 pages. the other providers are yet to send theirs through.
Now my questions are.
1. Should we request for call logs just between the two of us? and neglect any other logs.
2. Are the CO’s interested in seeing other call logs as well?
Because looking at the number of pages from just one provider from January 2016 to present, is already at 282 pages, printing them out will be very bulky. and I wonder if security would allow me to pass with such a load to the interview room.
Thanks and counting on your swift reply as always.
April 5, 2017 at 13:40
1. Yes
2. No
You should really be using your own common sense on this sort of question…
April 5, 2017 at 16:19
Thanks and sorry for double posting the question
April 5, 2017 at 11:58
Dear Simon in February I had interview and went successful now am ready to depart from my home land but faces problem with my wife I am very confused what I will be doing so I need your help pleas
1 because of family planning failure I check my wife is pregnant since we have no any relatives and enough finances so is there any medical costs for pregnancy?
2- Is us government have a child support policy here in my home country cost of a child for school is very high is it affordable?
3 please advice me from the experience of others who consult you thank you Simon?
4 approximate cost of living in a month including home rent
April 5, 2017 at 13:38
1. Yes, healthcare costs are high. However, you would immediately take an Obamacare healthcare plan to cover most costs of pregnancy. Make sure you get a good level of coverage and a good policy.
2. There is no financial assistance for children, but public education is free.
4. That varies greatly depending on where you live.

April 5, 2017 at 17:30

April 5, 2017 at 16:24
Hi Simons , how are you ? I have problem , I have my interview date on may 02 , in Tirana ,,, my dob is 06.01.1994 ,, all the documents matches with my dob.. but not my vaccination records ,, it is 04.06.1993 so I have some vaccinations in 1993 ? What can I do ?
April 5, 2017 at 17:32
The US embassy will want to see your birth certificate. The DOCTOR will want vaccination records if you have them.
April 5, 2017 at 23:17
Hi Simon,
I paid my fee after entering US on green card and I haven’t received it within the 120 days. I called uscis and filled a request. Agent told me that I should receive a response from the center responsible for using cards in my region via mail in the next 30 days. How common is this? And what causes this type of delay?
THANKS

https://www.salon.com/2017/04/04/trumps-extreme-vetting-will-require-social-media-passwords-and-phone-contacts-from-foreign-visitors/
According to this, Trump is going to make vetting for immigration far stricter.
Could they revoke visas that have already been assigned? I have received my visa, but I have not yet activated it by entering the US (and don’t plan to for a few months)
April 6, 2017 at 05:48
No.
April 6, 2017 at 02:10
Hell Mr. Simons.
Im from srilanka and have been sheduled an interview during the first week of May. I would like to know whether they will check on my beneficiaries(child) educational certificates as well? And whose documents are mainly checked?
April 6, 2017 at 05:47
EDucation documents only for main applicant. Read the instructions!
April 6, 2017 at 02:57

Hello Simon, my wife and I went for the interview on 4th, April. We were grilled for an hour each (separately since it was marriage after DV but before winning). In the end, the CO gave us a yellow sheet of paper and said we will be contacted. They remained with our passports, marriage cert, school certs, birth certs, police clearance cert, and photos, fb chats, whatsapp chats etc..Do we stand any chance really???
April 6, 2017 at 14:13
Of course. But the interview sounds ridiculous. They obviously have more concerns than just the marriage.
April 6, 2017 at 08:36
Hello Brit, I failed waec but passed all subjects in high school with a diploma and have job experience for more than 2 years cause I started working with a company for the past 4 years and half now. Will I be denial visa for the failure in WAEC?
April 6, 2017 at 14:05
I don’t know. I don’t know your embassy and if I did I don’t know the other factors. The CO decides.
April 6, 2017 at 16:45
Hi brit
I have I-134 affadavitt two pages, and now it is updating and eight paged…..am i right??
April 6, 2017 at 16:51
Yes – you must use the new version.
April 6, 2017 at 17:22
Hello Mr.Simons
I would like to know if by any chance theres an issue with the medical for example a bit high sugar or cholestrol is there a possibility it could be an issue for the visa?
April 6, 2017 at 20:28
They don’t care about those things
April 6, 2017 at 19:00
Hi Simon. I have 1 question please. If I dont have any sponsor, do I have any chance to get visa after the interview? Without putting my case on AP ? ( im from Iran ). Thank you Simon.
April 6, 2017 at 20:27
Iranian cases OFTEN get AP. If I were from Iran I would look for any option to reduce the risk of AP.
April 6, 2017 at 20:34
Thnks Simon for your help 🙂
April 7, 2017 at 03:13
Hi Mr Simons.
I have entered the schools which my daughter attended and thus the qualifications too in DS 260 as they had asked for details about the beneficiaries too. I would like to know is it necessary to get her school certificates and other letters regarding that as well?
Thank you.
April 7, 2017 at 05:43
If she is a derivative, no.
April 7, 2017 at 10:38
Hey Brit, I went to get my Medicals done at Nairobi , and was told I’ll be cleared by the 14th and my appointment was on 13th , I’m scared if I cancel the appointment I won’t get another one , same month ,do you think I should attend the appointment or cancel ? Or what do you suggest I should do ?
April 7, 2017 at 14:10
Attend the appointment.
April 8, 2017 at 00:51
Thankyou Brit ! But don’t you think they may not interview me or put me in AP, just asking so as I can prepare myself mentally . I would hate to be sent back without them interviewing me. I appreciate you .
April 8, 2017 at 01:02
Attending the interview without required forms or a medical guarantees AP. Some embassies send people away until they have all required documents. Mentally – prepare to tell the truth and see what happens.
April 7, 2017 at 10:46
Hi Brit,
I had a small error in my DS260. I put my date of marriage as 8th august using my memory bt a few days bck whn i was sorting my documents i realised it is 9th august. I have already been sheduled an interview next month. What do u think i should? Will it be a huge but its a days difference.
April 7, 2017 at 14:07
Just tell the CO at the interview. It’s not a problem.
April 7, 2017 at 13:48
Hi Brit,
I was randomly selected & completed DS260 form a couple of months before. However, b/c of me and my wife living apart from each other & she can’t send her picture & my kids too. Then, I filled the application form initial by saying “single” & fortunately I won the lottery. Right now, how could I deny my situation for the consular? since I’m married & having kids Or in what way i can convince the consular? Please your advice is very crucial
Rgds,
April 7, 2017 at 14:05
If you were married and had children when you entered the lottery, but aid you were single, you will certainly be disqualified.
April 7, 2017 at 13:57
Hello, Simon. One question. From the time that we get the visa (me and my wife), is she obligated to enter the US with me, or she can enter even later (of course before the expiration of the visa). I have to note, that I am the beneficiary (DV). Thanks in advance!
April 7, 2017 at 14:01
The principal selectee must enter before or with the beneficiaries.
April 7, 2017 at 14:43
Hi Brit, I’ve asked this previously but just wanted to double check and clarify as I’ve had mixed answers. If I had a court appearance where my case was dismissed and there is no record of it on my police report as I was not ‘convicted’ – do I need to bring this up in my interview as I have court documents of the appearance or do I just leave it.
April 7, 2017 at 14:52
You answer all questions accurately. If asked were you ever arrested – the answer is yes, if the question is were you ever convicted, the answer is no. Other than that YOU don’t bring things up at the interview. You just answer questions.
April 8, 2017 at 08:11
Thank you Brit, I was never arrested, only charged. Thank you for clarifying.
April 7, 2017 at 16:00
Hi brit
I have I-134 which expire,so my sponser already fill this affadavit support…is it right.
April 7, 2017 at 17:19
The old I-134 cannot be used any longer.
April 7, 2017 at 18:28
Hi Simon,
My interview is going to be on May 9 and my physical check up is on April 10. I am under too much pressure at work and i am planing to resign. Am i supposed to update my DS260 at this ppint or can i wait for the interview to reveal this information.
Thanks in Advance
Best,
Bee
April 7, 2017 at 23:09
No need to update for that.
April 7, 2017 at 18:50
hello brit.
Am dv winner and have interview on next month i just like to ask.
once i applied for non immigrant visa and since i never printed the information i provided i doubt the school date and month might deffer but am sure about year.
1. so since i have the interview and i can do nothing about it will they interview me using that information or they will not bother about that.
2.con that slight mistake be reason to deny my visa.
thanks.
April 7, 2017 at 23:08
Your question is not very clear. I think you are telling me you failed to list the previous application for the visa.
1. They will know about that application so it is best to tell them. If you are already scheduled you cannot now update your DS260 – so bring it up in the interview.
2. Probably no impact.
April 7, 2017 at 19:55
Hi Dear Brit,
hope you are fine and thanks for doing such a tremendous job. A question made me curious sir, whether it is compulsory for an applicant to inform the Embassy earlier about its appearance in interview at the date and time mentioned in 2NL OR just appear in the interview without informing the Embassy? (as applicant don’t want to postpone its interview). Thanks in advance.
April 7, 2017 at 23:05
That varies by embassy (and they instruct you).
Some embassies don’t need anything.
Some embassies require that you register with a courier prior to the appointment.
Some embassies require documents to be sent to them prior to the interview.
April 8, 2017 at 02:49
Tnx brit once again. As i have not received any instructions from Embassy related to my interview in such a situation what is ur opinion should I be silent or contact embassy through email? By the way my country is Afghanistan.
Have a good day sir.
April 8, 2017 at 04:49
I tend to not do anything until told what to do – but you can email them if you want.
April 8, 2017 at 06:43
Hi Brits. Hope you are doing well. I filled my Father’s Place of Birth wrongly knew that after i check my Birth certificate, his birth place is written different .He is also passed way long time ago. Do you think this affects my case? May i unlock my case and correct it?
Thankyou
April 8, 2017 at 10:29
Dear Simon,
In the E-Dv first entre by the mistake I selected my country of chargeability same as my son country of birth I was born in Iraq and my son was born in UAE since I leave in UAE. In the D-260 I corrected country of birth.
And I explained this mistake to CO at the interview and I passed my interview and finally I got my visa.
But when I checked my printed visa it is mentioned for my birthed country is (Baghdad UAE) (instead of Baghdad Iraq) and for my son is mentioned Iraq instated of UAE for his county of birth.
Now my question is any problem for me at the time of POE in USA.
Shall I contact the embassy to correct this mistake or it’s fine, I worried if I contact the embassy may cancel my DV-visa.
Best Regards
April 8, 2017 at 13:43
It’s no problem. Just forget it.
April 8, 2017 at 11:40
Hello Simon,
Our visas are issued on February 14 but for job reason we are planning to go on May 9. We are from Ethiopia. I read the latest EO and it talks about vetting process. Should we be worrie? Thanks a lot
April 8, 2017 at 13:42
No
April 8, 2017 at 18:06
do i need police clearance for my 8years old daughter
April 8, 2017 at 20:00
No. Please make sure you read the instructions (which would have answered this question)
April 9, 2017 at 02:32
Dear Simon,
Thanks for your guidance in the whole process of the dv lottery . Now am in US with my husband and daughter and my question is we are planning to go back to my country to sell the cars and my husband to resign and got the final settlements from his employer and coming back to US in 6 months. Is there any problems with this ?! Am also pregnant and am worried that the embassy won’t give me the visa for the baby.
Plz guide us what are the options that we have?!
April 9, 2017 at 04:39
No problem. When you re-enter with the baby the child will get a Green Card.
April 9, 2017 at 04:02
Dear Brit,
I entered the USA three days ago and yesterday I applied for the Social security No.
Is there anything else I should do?
Or is there any other department that I should go to?
Thanks for your help and support.
April 9, 2017 at 04:38
No, nothing else. It’s all up to you now…
April 9, 2017 at 05:20
Hi Brit,
We will be travelling to US this week. Just wanted to ask you what documents you should carry with you at the POE other than the closed envelope from the embassy.
Regards,
April 9, 2017 at 05:53
Nothing.
April 9, 2017 at 05:54

April 9, 2017 at 07:44
Hi Brit how u ? Hope you r okay,
Does the CO know who is included in the original DV entry and who is added later? Do people from KCC informed the interviewing CO about initial entry and later entry? I am asking this because I want to know about the matter. I have originally included my my wife, but my little kid even after I already completed the DS-260.
Thanks so much !!
April 9, 2017 at 15:51
The CO can access your DS260.
April 9, 2017 at 14:38

hi simon a blessed palm sunday to u and your family
i am a dv winner and i av gone through my interview some weeks back, which the embassy collected my passport after the interview. yesterday i av checked my status on ceac.state.gov and the status showed me issued and ready. can u please explain to me the meaning.
THANX
April 9, 2017 at 21:37
Issued means issued. Ready means something else. Patience.
