For those just being selected, you may not yet fully understand the importance of your case number. Your number is specific to your region, each region starting from 1. So there is an 2019AF1, 2019AS1, 2019EU1 and so on. The regions go up to different maximum numbers, with 1 being the lowest in each region. The number dictates when you will be interviewed, low numbers are interviewed before high numbers. Whether your number is high or low is relative within a region to the highest numbers in that region – so it is helpful in these early days to start getting an idea of what case numbers are out there.
So – please report your case number as a reply to this thread. Give your number in slightly hidden format – ignoring the leading zeros, and hiding the last 2 or 3 digits. So case number 2019AF000012345 would be shown as 2019AF12XXX. SA and OC regions have lower ranges, so just hide the last two digits – so 2019OC000001234 becomes 2019OC12XX. Always quote your number that way on public forums.
Please also give your country you are charged to (typically country of birth).

Hi simon
I am from nepal. I have been selected edv 2019. But when I sumited edv form I do spelling mistake in my wife last name and also mistake birth place. My wife last name is katuwal but I entry katwal and birth place is chyanam but entry is chayanam. In this case what happen ? can i correct in ds260 Or not ? Can I get visa ?
Thank u
May 24, 2018 at 14:41
Correct it in the DS260. No problem.
May 24, 2018 at 15:12
My wife is ex army she regied on jan 13 2018. 5 years expirence it also sumit in the DS260 or not nessesary.
May 24, 2018 at 16:01
She should list her work history as the form requires.
May 24, 2018 at 17:09
Hi Simon,
Thanks for your tireless effort and promptly answers to our many questions.
I am really confuse with this information:
The principal applicant and all family members applying for a diversity visa in the DV-2018 and DV-2019 program must complete Form DS-260. You will need to enter your DV case number into the online DS-260 form to access and update the information about yourself and your family that you included in your DV entry.
If your family circumstances have changed after you entered the lottery, for example, if you have gotten married or had a child, you will need to add your new family members to your case. (“Family member” refers to a spouse and/or unmarried children who had not reached age 21 before you entered the lottery.) When adding family members to your case, you will need to upload a document to prove your relationship to the family member being added.
Important note: If you had a spouse or children prior to submitting your original entry, but you did not include them on your original entry form, then your case will be disqualified at the time of your visa interview. Neither you nor any of your family members will receive visas.
My daughter is not on our original entry which I am a principal applicant. she is my biological daughter but with my past relationship and she still bears her father name and not my husband. What is your advice, do you think is safe to add her to our DS260 form? knowing that she is my biological daughter and still bears her father name and she is not on the original entry?
May 24, 2018 at 17:54
Not including your child on the original entry means disqualification. There is nothing confusing about that.
May 24, 2018 at 21:07
Hi Brit!
Quick question about old photos submitting with EDV form. I suddenly understand that I submitted the old photo of my teenager son which is already appeared on his B2 visa from 20014. Will we disqualified for that?
May 24, 2018 at 21:15
No
May 24, 2018 at 21:41
Thank you! I hope so!!!
May 24, 2018 at 22:36
My bad you r the expert???
May 24, 2018 at 23:18
hi dear brit, have two questions to ask and i hope you will reply
1- i am a lawyer and want to practice law there in USA so still i have to answer ( yes ) for the labor secretary permission question in DS-260 ? as i answered ( NO) for that particular question.is this ok ?
2-i asked you earlier too but this time new wine in the old bottle hehehe.please have you got any idea in these past few days about CN 2019AS74XX ? is it safe ? little safe ? risky ?.
i read all your posts whatever posted on this site but believe me it is privilege talking to you.i really admired you for your services.may GOD bless you.stay safe
May 24, 2018 at 23:30
1. Yes is more accurate, but for DV neither answer is disqualifying.
2. The wine is still very young. This is a slow process – you have around 1 year to wait. There is time for everything.
May 25, 2018 at 05:16
Hi Brit, I really like your blog.
The case number is 2019AS58XX. from Nepal. what do you think of this number to get a 2NL?
May 25, 2018 at 14:14
It is too early to know anything. Be patient – you will wait almost a year from now, so there is plenty of time to learn to be patient.
October 13, 2018 at 21:48
Dear Brit,
First of thank you for taking your time and answering all the comments… and secondvmy case is 2019AS76**…. and mu country of residents is UAE.., when i have to expect a 2NL and date of interview…. just getting worried to be honest… i know that you have answers in your posting..,but I couldn’t find it… please reply, which month at least i can have interview as per your experience! Hi Britsimon
I want to understand something, on the instruction for uploading the photo for playing in the DV it said that photo with wearing glass are no longer permitted and should not be uploaded, but on all my official document like passport, id ect I am wearing glass. Those that have an effect on being disqualified or not selected?
Thank you once again
May 25, 2018 at 14:04
Those photos are not the ones you will use for your GC, so no problem.
May 25, 2018 at 09:24
Hi Brit, thanks for your work. I’m 2019OC2xx. Am wondering what is the latest you think I can wait until submitting the DS260 and not jeopardise the chance of receiving a green card?

hello again dear Simon

May 25, 2018 at 16:12
You can read the numbers here. That is all I know at the moment.
May 26, 2018 at 01:13
Hi Arman!
The highest number I saw personally is 33*** in this year
May 25, 2018 at 15:07
Hi when will we know if there is a seconds draw for dv2019? Do we have an approximate idea on case numbers yet to have a feeler
May 25, 2018 at 16:15
After we see the selectee numbers for this year (2 or 3 weeks time)
May 25, 2018 at 22:56
Hey Brit,
Thank you for everything.
am from Ethiopia.my case numbrer is AF231xxx…is it low or high case number?
When did you predict my 2NL will be?? And
Which should one i choose in DS260 if the place where i born isdifferent in the EDV and in my passport? ?
May 25, 2018 at 23:01
It is too early to know much yet.
No prediction.
The correct place of birth.
May 26, 2018 at 16:25
Hi simon
If dv entry form some mistak is it possibe to unlock,Before summit ds260. If possible how can we do that ?
May 26, 2018 at 18:47
You correct mistakes in the DS260.
May 26, 2018 at 19:38
Was there a second draw for 2018? If so, when?
May 26, 2018 at 20:51
No, because the first draw was MORE than enough selectees. DV2017 had a small second draw around early October. The draw is only done in underselected years.
We don’t know yet if DV2019 is over selected or under selected.
May 26, 2018 at 22:25
Hi Simon,
My number is OC 3XX as I previously mentioned. Just to clarify after doing some reading of your site.
1. if say for example OC 400 comes up in November would that mean my interview would be in November?
2. How much notice is given for interviews?
3. Do you get to negotiate the date of interview or you jus show up when they say? (This is totally fine obviously I just have to travel interstate for interview so wanted to be clear!)
Thanks again,
Sorry that I’ve had a few questions already. Getting selected really was unexpected!
E 🙂
May 26, 2018 at 23:36
1. Normally, yes.
2. 6 to 7 weeks typically.
3. You are scheduled by KCC. You interview on the appointed date. Sydney appointments are on Tuesdays.
May 27, 2018 at 00:23
What about Montreal? Do they schedule on specific day or it can happen any day of the week?
May 27, 2018 at 04:57
I don’t know.
May 27, 2018 at 09:28
Hi Rush,
Are you guys waiting for interview for Montral ? Same here, PM us please, SAM
May 27, 2018 at 11:07
Oh that’s good to know! I was nervous it would fall on a Friday which does not work at all with my job! Thanks so much for the info again!
May 27, 2018 at 00:00
Dear Mr. Simon,
I was informed yesterday that I won the 2019 DV lottery, i was so excited, but I’m in a bit of a pickle, when i first hired an office to apply for lottery for 10 years, I updated the file with ny wife and I info at the time, I used to live in Dubai, and then we immigrated to Canada, and life got as hectic as it could be and we forgot to update the file after as all of the emails sent by this office was dircted to spam, so we missed many emails to update our file, now all of the info was not an issue except that now we have a son that was not included in the submission, however, when I filled the DS260 i did update all of our info and added my son to the file, I read so many articles and all say that I would be disqualified, is there any way that we can explain to the officer that we didn’t intentionally mislead them in the application, especially we are now all Canadian citizens and Canada is not know for fraud applications. My chargable country is Syria.
Appreciate your feedback.
May 27, 2018 at 04:55
Disqualification is the only possible outcome.
May 27, 2018 at 00:04
My case no. 2019AS42XX chargable to Syria
May 27, 2018 at 12:47
@BritSimon do you know chance of “wining” DV Lottery in Bulgaria? This year DV2019 we misdoubt about low “winners” for BGN
May 27, 2018 at 14:40
About 1%. There were only 38,000 entries in Bulgaria (plus derivatives), so the selectee number is what would be expected. Also, there were less Bulgarian entries in DV2018 than for the previous 2 years.
May 27, 2018 at 19:54
So, Does it mean, less entries less selectee ? It make no sense, where are 7% per country of 55 000 in this case?
May 28, 2018 at 04:53
Oh my.
Have you thought about how many countries could get visas if each had 7%?
May 28, 2018 at 15:46
Thanks foe answering @BritSimon … 1% is a very low chance, but the life goes on.
May 27, 2018 at 14:26
Hello Simon iam from Nepal and my case number is 2019AS4XXX.possibly when will i recieve 2NL??
May 27, 2018 at 14:50
A LONG time from now – probably 2019, not 2018. So – time to wait.
May 30, 2018 at 13:54
Hello simon one more time iam back with a question..As you said 2019AS4XXX have to wait for long time to recieve 2NL..my DS-260 is completed on May 29.And the question is now iam single and iam planing to get marry with my gf around oct/nov ,will that be ok if after marry we update DS260 and add her??
May 30, 2018 at 19:41
Yes
May 27, 2018 at 14:40
Hi Brit,
thank you for always being there to answer my questions. Again, my case number is 2019AF13XXX, foreign state chargeability Cameroon. Currently me and my husband are located in South Korea, He just graduated from his masters program while I will be finishing my own masters program by June next year.
I have 2 questions today which i wish to get your opinion,
1) As I am 22 weeks pregnant, Can week fill the DS 260 form now and then unlock and update our baby’s information when she is born? Cos we really don’t want to jeopardize this chance
2) As the baby will still be very small, would we have to make a passport for him before the interview date? we wish to know because the closest Cameroon embassy is in China and we would have to start preparing for that if it is going to be the case.
Thanks
May 27, 2018 at 14:49
1. Yes, but really it would be better to wait until the baby is born, because you will have little time for preparation otherwise.
2. This is an example of the complication you will have if you submit now. The baby will need a birth cert and passport and will need a DS260 if its own.
Delaying DS260 submission is the wise option and does not create a risk.
May 27, 2018 at 15:15
Ok Brit,
thanks so much for your reply. I’m so clear now. we will wait for the baby.
But still, it means we can’t do without a passport for the baby? Is it possible to get a ‘Travel Document’ for the baby from the Cameroon consulate here in Korea and then have her visa attached to my own passport?
thanks
May 27, 2018 at 15:19
Normally the baby needs a passport.
May 27, 2018 at 14:50
Hi Brit Simon,
I was selected in DV19 with CN EU24K (based on current statistic seems low chance for interview ) but anyhow I have some questions about section “Work experience/Education”
1. My highest education is University of economy with master degree. The previous education is High school so I would like to ask you whether to fill both educations or only the high school. Most probably I should disclose in course of study “ACADEMIC” because “VOCATIONAL” does not give you rights to study in university which is not my case right?
2. My spouse has a job history from more than ten years ago with permanent contracts. From time to time she was hired as temporary contractor and in this respect I would to know whether to disclose everything in section “Work experience/education”. Out of that I’m really not aware which reasons are treated as significant in order to ask unlock of DS 260 from the consular center. Believe me that we’ll get crazy if we should update each detail in next one year and something.
Thank you for your co-operation because your experience is very helpful!
May 27, 2018 at 14:57
1. Enter HS and degree level.
2. It doesn’t have to list every little contract.
May 27, 2018 at 15:31
Thank you!
The degree level is Diploma and Course of study “Academic” right?
There is other question. Currently i work in a bank so my education level is master degree of economy. My wish entering US is to seek for similar job. What to answer on this question “Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor” YES or NO
Best regards
May 28, 2018 at 04:38
Academic
Yes.
Number questions.
July 28, 2018 at 13:57
hi Bratman??you are winners for dv 2019 with case number 24000??
July 28, 2018 at 20:10
For goodness sake. Read his posts. He already gave that info. Please stop asking people these pointless questions. Just relax and have patience.
May 27, 2018 at 15:24
Dear Brit,
I have inserted my surname as the first name when submitting entry for DV since my surname is written before the first name.
Will there be a problem if I enter my name as appears in my Passport when filling DS-260?
I mean do they compare the position of name potions with DS-260 & Entry registration form
Thank you.
May 28, 2018 at 04:35
If the DS260 is accurate they will normally forgive the mistake on the entry.
May 27, 2018 at 17:51
Hi BritsSimon!
My girlfriend was selected we have CS 44XX, we are from Poland but we live in Dublin. Could you give us an estimate date for NCLs? DS-260 was sent a week ago.
1) We’re getting married in August, so after that we can send an email to KCC so they can unlock DS-260 and add me, am I right on this?
2) Can we do the medical examination in different country than the place we will have interview? Or should they both match?
3) Photographs required on the medical examinations should be done in the same convention as the one that we send in October?
4) I was not selected but on my form I’ve added my dotter (from previous relationship) which will not be going with us should she be also added to unlocked DS-260 when we will be married? Do I need to prepare some documents about it?
Thanks in advance,
Regards
May 28, 2018 at 04:49
1. You should have delayed your DS260. Once scheduled you cannot unlock.
2. No.
3. Typically yes.
4. You list her and mark her as not emigrating.
May 28, 2018 at 06:02
Is this something new for DV19 that once submitted DS260 cannot be unlocked ? ? Couple of people shared that they did so in previous DV’s
May 28, 2018 at 12:06
No. Nothing has changed. Read the FAQ
May 28, 2018 at 06:09
Hi BritsSimon!
The selectees in DV2019 will be processed starting 1st of October, right?
When should we expect the first VisaBulletin for October? (August or September)?
Thanks
May 28, 2018 at 12:07
August
May 28, 2018 at 07:00
Hi Britsimon,
Thank you for your respond. You think that we will get NCL on August? That’s the reason why we should have delayed sending DS-260? So we could have time for adding me? I presume that once we will get NCL we can’t unlock DS-260, did we lost our chance to get GC together?
May 28, 2018 at 12:11
Yes you might be scheduled before you marry which just makes it more complicated. Hopefully this year will start slow like last year, which will buy you some time.
May 28, 2018 at 12:33
Hi BritSimon!
I get your point, fortunately my wedding will be 10th of August. From what I’ve read NCLs are starting at the end of the month. So finger crossed on this one.
Do I need passport for my daughter? Or if I select that she’s not going to US, this information will not be required?
May 28, 2018 at 12:35
They are scheduled around mid month.
No passport if she is not going to US.
May 28, 2018 at 13:46
my wife – 2014EU50*** no interview due CUT; again my wife 2019EU23*** 🙂 still hope:)
May 28, 2018 at 20:14
Hi Simon. Recently my friend has been selected for dv2019. BUT as he registered to this with the help of an organisation, they didnt give him his DV confirmation number (He has to pay to get it). But in the letter they sent we could see this case number 2019EU0000**** . Does it mean that his case number starts with zero(0) . we are going to try enter all number until we find his one from https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx. Do you have any recommendation?
May 28, 2018 at 21:14
Sure. Never use agents.
May 29, 2018 at 11:51
just write to the your Local Embassy–they will send you Confirmation—it was in my case…in DV2014
May 28, 2018 at 22:33

It is your choice. Your saving smay be enough, an I-134 is safer. It can be from someone at a different address.

What you think, with this high number,
do I have any chance for an Interview next year?
Thanks a lot

May 31, 2018 at 06:13
Hi
I am from Sri Lanka
My Case Number 2019AS00016xxx
Can you give me a estimated date for the interview
I have not yet submitted the DS-260 Form
Tks
May 31, 2018 at 15:46
Do you really mean 16 THOUSAND or 16 HUNDRED? I ask because I have not heard an AS number of 16000+
May 31, 2018 at 09:54
Hello !
I’m pre-selected for DV2019 and my number is : 2019EU21XX from Paris,France
I have a question about the eduaction and work experience :
1. Education
I am currently at law school so I am a trainee lawyer (and not a lawyer let)
If i have well undestand, for my level : I have to list my high school degree and my master degree in law
I will have my lawyer certificate around October 2019 so I cannot list it, right ?
2. Work experience
Throughout my studies, i had some part time jobs or summer jobs and did some internship the last 3 years.
I am still a student so do I have to list all of them ?
Thank you in advance for your answer
May 31, 2018 at 16:31
Congratulations!
May 31, 2018 at 16:51
1. List HS and any COMPLETED education attained.
2. You should answer the questions as fully as possible.
May 31, 2018 at 16:57
Hey Brit,I have the same doubt.During my 3 years in university so far I had multiple jobs lasting 2/3 month which I didn’t mentioned in my DS.Basically,I am still a student. Is that a big problem?Should I add that to my DS?
Also, when do you think I’m gonna be schedueled for an interview, with the 2019EU137**
May 31, 2018 at 18:26
List the jobs.
Interview will be in 2019 – so plenty of time to wait and see.
June 4, 2018 at 15:22
Thank you for your answer !
So I have to list all my student jobs and internships. I read they are going to ask for the contracts. Does the lost of some employment contracts or the internship conventions are disqualifying ?
June 4, 2018 at 15:45
No
May 31, 2018 at 13:40
Hi Mr.Brit, I was born as stated in my birth certificate in a hospital in different city from the city written in my passport and I was not living at that city, my parents gave birth to me only at that city , in my initial DV application form I wrote the same city stated in my passport, please advise what should I do, and if this will jeopardize my chance. Please note all these cities are in one state
May 31, 2018 at 17:31
It isn’t a big problem. The DS260 should show the place of birth as stated on the birth cert.
June 1, 2018 at 13:25
Should I change place of birth in my passport, since it bares different location than birth certificate ?
June 1, 2018 at 14:03
That is up to you.
June 1, 2018 at 19:23
So that means it won’t have any effects, will it Mr. Brit?
May 31, 2018 at 16:43
Hi Simon,
Any indication yet, if a 2nd draw is possible for DV2019?
Thanks!
May 31, 2018 at 18:20
No. Ask in a month.

Hi Simon
Will the countries under travel ban (AS) region still be selected for DV2019 and refused leaving holes or they are not listed as cases at all, what do you think?
June 1, 2018 at 18:40
They are selected as normal.
