Hi britsimon,
Thanks for your great work
Let me ask you as quick question.
I am a DV-2025 lottery winner. Given that my case number ( 18***) is relatively high, is it advisable to submit an entry for the next lottery (2026) before receiving confirmation of my interview scheduling
October 18, 2024 at 14:42
Yes. There is no harm in entering again.
October 8, 2024 at 03:07
Helli sir
Hope you would be fine..
If we get selected for dv lottery,
Do we then need the passport to fill up ds 260 form?
And should we fill the ds 260 form immediately?
October 8, 2024 at 09:52
You don’t need the passport to complete the ds260 – but you will need it for the interview.
October 1, 2024 at 06:27
I’m a DV-2025 winner. I don’t have passport in my hand so I filled out DS-260 without passport. 10-15 days before interview date I want to get passport and take it to the embassy without adding it DS-260. What do you think about it? Problem or not?
October 1, 2024 at 07:22
No problem.
October 2, 2024 at 07:15
Thanks you
September 15, 2024 at 23:58
My case number is SA15xx, I was born in South America but live in Belgium. I filled in the DS260 in May.
1- Is it a high case number? I will have chances of getting an interview?
2- Can I renew my passport before the interview? My passport is expiring in October 2025
September 16, 2024 at 09:22
1. No, yes.
2. Yes
September 14, 2024 at 20:03

July 9, 2024 at 09:44
You now have to wait and see how many interviews your embassy will take.
August 1, 2024 at 23:59
Hi 🙂 I’m 2025EU5***, a european living in Israel. Will the kcc give priority to south asia winners when scheduling interviews over EUs residing in this area? (Assuming both the AS and EU are current)
Thanks!!
August 2, 2024 at 10:43
Not really something you need to worry about with your case number as long as JRS embassy continues working.
August 13, 2024 at 04:15

July 1, 2024 at 13:47

July 10, 2024 at 02:39
All right, thanks Brit !
Let’s hope Paris Embassy is a good one and have a chance to have an interview 🙂

November 4, 2024 at 14:18
How do your case to another country please
November 4, 2024 at 15:07
The most reliable way is to move to another country, unlock the DS260 and update the address.

June 14, 2024 at 11:42
The embassy is very backlogged. I don’t think they could get to your case number. You should have moved your case before becoming current.
June 13, 2024 at 08:08
Hello Simon. Just came across your blog and its informative. I am from Kenya and my case number is 57000,do I stand a chance of going current, plus while filling my ds 260 form is it okay to schedule my interview to Doha, Qatar since I am relocating
June 13, 2024 at 09:26
I can’t answer without knowing your year and region along with your number.
You generally interview where you are living at that time.
June 11, 2024 at 20:00
Hi sir,
I won 2025 dv lottery 2025oc00001648. As per visa bulletin it’s within current . Do you think I will be getting interview invitation? As far as I know Oceania continent has very low dv approval . What do u think ?
June 11, 2024 at 20:06
The Visa Bulletin you are seeing now concerns DV2024. So your number won’t be ready until 10 to 12 months from now.
June 11, 2024 at 20:51
What do you think about case no ?? Is it too high ?? Oc1648
June 11, 2024 at 22:29

June 9, 2024 at 09:03
Hello Brit
I am a 2025 DV selectee in Ghana with a very low case number of 2025AF19*. I submitted my ds 260 on 16th of May but realised i made an error. At the age of 16 i was in high school( boarding house) in another region. But in the section of the places i have lived since the age of 16 i wrote my parents place since that was my permanent resident and goes to school and comes back during vacation. Do you think i should request for the form to be unlocked and change it to my school?
Secondly, in the education section, i realised i have entered the month i started school incorrectly although the year is right.
I wrote to kcc today to unlock my ds 260 and it has not been unlocked yet. Do you think i should proceed or i should pause it for the processing of my form to continue.
June 9, 2024 at 09:30
Since you already asked to unlock, you may as well continue with the corrections.
May 26, 2024 at 02:01
I have a question for u Brit
Registered as single n Won in Liberia but now married, we both live in Germany n because of marriage issues we trying to separate.
So on my DS 260 since we’ve not yet gone through with the divorce is it right to still use married even though I will be traveling alone n no way my husband will follow me
2. Do I have to still show my marriage certificate cause it still with him
3. We don’t talk so there’s no way to even convince him to join
How do I take up this chance the right way
Thank you
May 26, 2024 at 09:56
1. Yes, you are married until divorced.
2. Yes
3. You can do the process alone.
May 17, 2024 at 11:15

May 16, 2024 at 10:16
Yes
May 16, 2024 at 03:28
Hi! My husband has been selected for DV 2025. I have a concern: in my passport, my previous workplace is listed. However, I have since resigned from that position and am currently running a business in Sri Lanka, where I serve as a director. Will this discrepancy pose a problem during the interview? Should I change my occupation in the passport to ‘none’?
May 16, 2024 at 10:05
This isn’t a problem.
May 15, 2024 at 10:26
Hello sir, first of all I want to thank you for your great job. I’am French and I won the dv25 with a case number EU30xxx. I already filled in dv 260. Do you think I have a chance to be interviewed in Paris?
Many thanks for your help.
May 15, 2024 at 11:11
At this time we have a good idea of the case numbers, but we have no idea of how many selectees we have. It is not defined by the case numbers. So, until July/August we won’t be able to say whether your number is risky or not.
May 15, 2024 at 14:24
Thank you for your quick reply. Appreciate it. Have a nice day.
May 11, 2024 at 14:22

Hi Simon,
Thank you for your helpful information. I am a DV2025 winner from Asia, Iran with the case number of 10xxx. Currently, I live in Montreal, Canada as a student. How can I know which counselor office in Canada is better for my case to choose (I have 9 different options in Canada)? I finished filling in the form but did not submit yet.
May 10, 2024 at 05:56
Only Montreal processes DV in Canada.
May 9, 2024 at 11:16

May 8, 2024 at 00:20
Hi Simon, we are from Burma but stay in Singapore. Our case is 29k+ is our case number high or do we stand a chance for the interview? Thank you.
May 8, 2024 at 23:28
We will know more in July/August
May 7, 2024 at 18:07
Hi Simon, i am Sister Lily from Ghana.
I got married few months after submitting the entry for dv 2025, after winning I added my husband but I noticed they require proof of marriage (in other words Marriage Certificate) but our marriage was “Customary Marriage” (Islamic Marriage) and there is no document of that sort here.
I therefore would love to know how to go by it when feeling ds-260 without been denied Visa.
Secondly, My husband has his passport already, but I applied for mine couple of months ago but yet to receive it, as it is difficult to get an express passport here in Ghana. How can I fill the ds-260 without the passport in hand as the passport field is kinda required please!? Help me out Sir.
May 7, 2024 at 18:12
Firstly, you need to perform a legal marriage ceremony. That is available in Ghana as I understand it.
Once that is done you can complete the DS260 as a couple.
You can use “another national ID” in place of the passport in the DS260, but would need the passport for the interview.
Always quote the case number (with year and region) when asking questions.
May 7, 2024 at 17:05

I won 2022, Filled form 260 and was not called for interview. When I tried to follow, I was told the case number is no longer valid and advised to apply again…felt bad even with COVID interruptions they couldn’t help.
May 7, 2024 at 09:57
Hi, I was among the random selectee from The Gambia in Africa with a case number of 7xxx. I want to know how soon should I start the DS 260 process?
Again, when I was applying for the DV lottery, my status was single but I got married in January after the application. Can I change my status during the Visa application and is there any risk attach?
May 7, 2024 at 11:45
You should file the DS260 soon, and yes you should add your spouse (create a DS260 for him/her).
May 7, 2024 at 18:50
Why you don’t select me
May 8, 2024 at 23:07
It’s a lottery.
May 6, 2024 at 21:56

Yes
May 6, 2024 at 08:24
Hi there,
We are from Turkey and my wife has won the lottery but with a case number of 2025EU26XXX, even though we celebrated initially, we later found out that Ankara has only reached 7xxx as of May and consistently been bad over the last few years. We don’t neither have US visa(tourist visa interview scheduled to take place on Sep 6th) nor Schengen which has become really difficult these days. Is there any hope for us?
May 6, 2024 at 11:54
You are correct to be concerned about Ankara. You should think about moving to another country before the number becomes current. You have time to understand that more, so be patient.
May 7, 2024 at 11:59
Stay positive always as long as you are alive hope is there
May 5, 2024 at 16:07

You cannot add an unborn child.
May 9, 2024 at 11:25
Thanks for the great job you’re doing.👍🏾
My wife, a senior staff nurse, won with a Case Number 2025AF22XXX in Ghana. She successfully passed all her high school papers and holds a diploma in nursing. We have three (3) children.
I have three questions that have been bothering me and would like you to give me your candid advice.
1. Do you think we have a chance given the pace at which visa processing work is reportedly slow at the US Embassy in Ghana?
2. Should we look for a nearby consulate? If yes, what is the procedure?
3. If we’re successful, should we all move to the US at once or she should go first for us to come later?
I’m counting on you for a timely response. Thank you.
May 10, 2024 at 05:48
1. Probably not if they continue as they have performed in DV2024. You should apply from a different country.
2. It is all based on current address on the ds260 – so you have to move.
3.That is up to you.
