The new VB was released – very late, but it doesn’t really affect anything. As we know, there will not be interviews scheduled as embassies for November, although people on adjustment of status in the USA can use these numbers.
So – no big surprises.
Region | All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately | |
---|---|---|
AFRICA | 5,100 | Except: Egypt 3,300 |
ASIA | 2,800 | Except: Iran 1,300 Nepal 2,700 |
EUROPE | 4,800 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | 3 | |
OCEANIA | 350 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN | 475 |
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means. Some countries have been called out as “exceptions” meaning that selectees chargeable to those two countries (regardless of where they will interview) are subject to a lower VB number for the month than the rest of the region. This is done to slow down processing for countries with a high number of selectees to spread out the workload over a longer time. Please read this linked article on how to read the visa bulletin.

2 how many times can you unlock ds 260
October 27, 2020 at 20:43
1. Doesn’t matter.
2. 1748
October 24, 2020 at 22:46
Dear Brit
I am a selectee from IRAN of dv2021 with case no AS00018*** . I have submitted my DS-260 form on July 7th but I haven’t received any notification e-mail yet. I wanted to know if it is normal and if yes when should I expect receiving it. And also wanted to know if there is any chance for Iranian applicants?
October 25, 2020 at 17:08
You have a highish number, so you should not expect fast action. You need to be patient.
October 24, 2020 at 05:10
Thanks for your good work brit, am dv 2021 selectee case no 2021AF34*** and appried as single, filled DS 260 as single but we are wedding legally Dec 2020.

2 which is the best way to make those changes, is it by unlocking ds260 or during interview?
3 is she going to be interviewed if we make those changes?
4 due to financial constraints is it possible for me to travel first then my wife follow me later?
October 24, 2020 at 15:21
1. No – you do it BEFORE the interview.
2. See 1
3. Yes
4. Yes

October 18, 2020 at 23:47
Hi Brit,
I am SA28xx. Do you think this is a high number? I never saw numbers this high for the region. Un por favor.
October 12, 2020 at 18:11
Hi Simon, Do you think in Latin America region CN SA21** is a high case number? Thanks for your time
October 13, 2020 at 03:10
Not really.
October 12, 2020 at 01:53
Hello Brit, thanks for the article very informative, had failed to figure out how the bulletin works. I want to make an enquiry my case number is 2021AF00078xxx and I read that they issue 50 000 visas in total. Does this mean that am among the group that will appear in the bulletin much later since my case number is later than 50,000?
Thanks
October 12, 2020 at 22:43
You are still messing something things up . Your 78XXX number is not a global number, it is only in AF. BUT there are lots of HOLES in the numbers in front of you, so you are not actually waiting for 78000 people in front of you. Having said that, your number is quite high, so it will be months before we know whether your number will get a chance or not.
October 7, 2020 at 19:49
Thank you for your support Brit, my question is am a Ugandan, my case number is 2021AF00021xxx, and the number for Uganda is 908, does this mean I stand higher chance to be scheduled for interview?
Thank you.
October 8, 2020 at 00:04
Your case number is in the region, not the country.
October 2, 2020 at 10:10
Hi Brit,
When would you anticipate EU61XX become current, based on the increments in which numbers have become current so far? I’m debating on whether I should do premium processing on my H1B extension.
Thank you, and appreciate what you do on your Youtube channel as well. Loads of helpful info!
Best,
Maya
October 3, 2020 at 00:45
If you are filing AOS you need to stay in status until you file, However, your number is low, so you should be able to file (being current) prett soon. When does your H1 run out?
September 29, 2020 at 17:37
Hello Mr. Simon,
my case number is in the range of the november bulletin in Europe. One week ago my permanent address changed but it is still in the same country. Should i ask KCC to reopen my DS-260 or wait for the interview? If they reopen and I amend the address and resubmit it, do I still have the chance to be scheduled for the interview or would it result delay or worse a completle removal from the DV?
Many tanks for your advice!
September 29, 2020 at 19:00
It would not cause any problem, but you can simply update at the interview if you prefer.
September 27, 2020 at 16:43
Am dv 2021 winner when am i supposed to fill public charge form
September 27, 2020 at 21:30
For the interview.
September 26, 2020 at 15:12
Hey brit! Thank you for helping me i had a lotta doubts before looking at videos
But normally the previous years 2019, 2018
The visa Bulletin says that its current on july or august.
Current means all case numbers would be interviewed right?
I’m a bit confused. Please help me out
I have a high case number that’s why i compare the previous data to access whether I’d have a chance to get interviewed
Case no : as33***
September 26, 2020 at 23:53
That’s what it meant in those years, yes – but they only go current if there are sufficient remaining visas. Because they selected more people that may not be the case this year. Please look at the archive for detailed discussion/analysis on Asia.
September 26, 2020 at 06:04
Hello Mr.Simon
I want to ask if I apply to DV lottery 2022 next month,
Will I still be able to be granted a regular tourist U.S visa during 2021 if I apply before I even get acepted or get an interview in DV 2022?
September 26, 2020 at 23:21
Yes you can – but if you do get selected you need to consider the risk of applying for immigrant status just in case you don’t get approved. Just enter and see if you win.
September 26, 2020 at 00:19
Hi Brit!
This VB has released only 100 more numbers for OC dv winners. I am a Nepalese passport holder and currently living in Australia. My case number is OC4xx. I was expecting my case number to be current in this month. When do you think my case will be current?
September 26, 2020 at 03:55
Forget that and learn some patience.
More importantly, why are you holding an OC number? Were you born in Nepal? Are you married to someone from OC region?
September 26, 2020 at 19:44
I filled DV lottery form from Australia and I received the confirmation letter with OC- case number. Does having OC number matter to my case?
September 27, 2020 at 04:48
Answer my questions.
September 27, 2020 at 15:29
I am not married to the person from OC region. I was born in Nepal and am now on student visa in Australia. I had OC case number because I filled DV form from Australia and won the lottery while in Australia.
September 27, 2020 at 15:44
OK finally. I suspected this – hence my questioning.
You are 100% certain to be disqualified because you should have been in the Asia regional lottery and you put yourself into the Ocueania regional lottery. The rules are clear on the that, the CO will have no option to disqualify you.
There is no way to fix it, but by telling you this I am saving you from wasting the time and money.
September 25, 2020 at 20:48
hello brit, my question is that I am Asian and I have won the lottery of DV2021 and I have received the email of my Docs confirmation so when will I be interviewed according to you and my CN is AS20215XX
so what do you think about it?
September 25, 2020 at 23:17
January probably.
September 25, 2020 at 16:48
Hi Brit…i am a dv2021 winner.
My host moved from virginia to carlifonia…should i please contact KCC to unlock my DS260 so i update?
September 25, 2020 at 22:11
You can if you like, OR update at the interview.
September 25, 2020 at 15:16
Hello Britsimon! No words to explain your hard working. You are tiring for others ,not for your private interest. I think it is a blessing for you b/c a few persons are there in the world like you. Having said this
1). I’m from Ethiopia, dv2021 winner with 12xxx case number. One of my friend from here in Ethiopia with 10xxx case number get email notification to upload documents from KCC before 5 days. I’m looking eagerly to see the e-mail notification from KCC like my friend, so around when you believe that I will be notified?
September 25, 2020 at 22:03
Each DS260 takes different time to process. So – don’t worry it will come in due course.
September 27, 2020 at 18:00
I am also from Ethiopia DV 2021 winner with cn 18XXX,I have similar concerns
September 25, 2020 at 08:58
Hi Brit,
I faced my interview on 16th and submitted the requested updated police clearance on the 18th. But again the Srilankan US Embassy called me today 25th and asked me to come on Monday at 8 am to give my fingerprints. Is that normal?
Thanks
September 25, 2020 at 09:43
Hi Shane, Im als from Sl. A Dv 2021 winner.. an way to contact u? can i have ur email address or whatsapp no? if only u dnt mind.
September 25, 2020 at 11:11
Hi Shane, what’s the current CEAC state for you at the moment? They may be asking this fingerprints again due to some mistake when you giving them earlier.
September 25, 2020 at 12:58
Yes
September 25, 2020 at 15:10
Hi Brit,
If it is normal, do you think I have enough time to get my VISA? Monday is 28th, So I am bit concerned about that.
September 25, 2020 at 18:19
It should be enough time.
September 25, 2020 at 18:40
Hi Simon, please help yo het your advice. I am dv2020. Received 2nl on Friday and scheduled interview on 28 September at 9:30 am at Sydney, Australia but i am residing in Queensland, Australia. Because of short of time between 2nl and interview, we couldnot get medical. Sydney is covid hotspot, 14 days quarantine is the rule, flights are rare, re-entering to Queensland is tough. So, please what can i do? Shall i request consulate to defer the interview, as I am kennedy vs trump dv 3.0 plaintiffs. Heard that judge would extend the dateline. Do you thing deferring would result in rescheduling interview in case extension is granted by judge. Please advice us
Thanks
September 25, 2020 at 23:10
The dealine is likely to be extended, not for only Kennedy cases, but for everyone. However, they won’t reserve all the visas we want, so you will have to be ready to move fast. Yes you can ask to reschedule, but of course they will say no until the extension is won and communicated to them. So – let them know you can’t attend, but explain you will ask them for a new appointment once there is an extension. They will probably say that can’t happen. Tell them from me – “watch this space”.
September 25, 2020 at 08:16
Hi Brit, Is it possible to change the CEAC status from refused to ready?
September 25, 2020 at 12:56
Yes that happens because refused is now being used for AP as well, and when visas are being issued people often notice the case goes AP (refused) to ready to issued pretty quickly.
September 25, 2020 at 07:58
Kcc are focusing, working on dv 2021 bt not for 2020??they are not sending 2nl mail also.i dnt why this kind of partiality is doing for us…i m in group 4 from Nepal.lets see what will be the outcomes in 29th sep.judge says to keep good faith…n waiting for that day as it itself the end of journey 2020 ??
Corona n trump proclamations swept our luck??
September 25, 2020 at 12:54
You posted this nonsense on my YT channel as well. Stop talking nonsense and stop being so negative! Pull yourself together!
September 25, 2020 at 21:33
Dv visa is a privilege not a right dixit Brit Simon. And dv2021 winners have this privilege too. Don’t be selfish.
September 25, 2020 at 07:38
Hello Brit,
Has the judge set any time/date for the final hearing of the lawsuit?
People are really anxious and frustrated.
Thanks very much sir.
September 25, 2020 at 12:52
Monday 2pm.
September 25, 2020 at 05:37
Am 2021 selectee and I filled my DS 260 on july but I have not been asked for supporting documents, is it late
September 25, 2020 at 12:45
No
September 25, 2020 at 05:25
HI Brit,
Considering Both Iran and Nepal being Limited countries, And according to your previous video Iranian Case numbers are upto 18000 and Nepal Has a Case number just till 10000 ( Meaning Iran has higher case numbers than Nepal, But the increase in case number from previous VB is just under 300….But for Nepal its 1700)??
Can U clarify this to me Brit….Thank you for ur great work
September 25, 2020 at 12:44
No need to focus on this at the moment. Relax and ignore it until interviews start.
September 25, 2020 at 04:10
Hello Brit,
Do you have any theory regarding the case number increments from VB to VB? Knowing that CP is frozen right now, how do you think it would affect it? Would the numbers increase faster or slower? I guess we will see.
Keep up the great work you are the best.
September 25, 2020 at 12:40
I know how the VB numbers increase – I have explained it before, but I’ll create an article/video. Right now though it doesn’t matter because interviews are blocked anyway.
September 24, 2020 at 20:21
“This is done to slow down processing for countries with a high number of selectees to spread out the workload over a longer time.” but in AF this happens for Egypt only.. Sudan and Algeria are also 6K selectees, why only Egypt
September 24, 2020 at 22:55
Because the embassy is very busy, and because Egypt numbers are normally concentrated lower.
September 24, 2020 at 20:18
So bad for Egypt. And increase of only 600 number so DV2021 is risky for medium and high numbers in Egypt such as 20k
September 24, 2020 at 22:54
Utter nonsense. It’s VB 2 of 12 months.
September 24, 2020 at 20:09
Hello Brit
Will this visa bulletin give us informative data for the cutoffs numbers or it doesn’t indicate anything?
September 24, 2020 at 22:54
It does not predict the final cutoffs.
September 24, 2020 at 18:40
Thank you MR Brit Simon
September 24, 2020 at 18:30
Thanks Simon! Do you remember why the fiscal year of 2017 was so high? November 2016 was already at 13,000 for EU! Which is MUCH higher than any other year. (Except for 2015) It sounds like the rank cut-offs went down in the last 4 years.
September 24, 2020 at 22:10
I can’t remember why. If I do remember I’ll come back to you.
September 25, 2020 at 00:40
Thanks!
September 24, 2020 at 17:46
Hi, sorry I know at this point is Hours know this but…. i don’t understand if the shengen ban Is in, why the number in VB for europe keep growing. What does it mean?
Tks
September 24, 2020 at 22:06
KIt’s normal. Remember that AOS cases (people in the USA) can process.
September 24, 2020 at 17:34
Thank you for your time and all your efforts! You are the best, sir!
September 24, 2020 at 17:24
Hi Brit one question when you think the case number 2021SA3000 for south america could have the interview or if there is any chances to have one, cuz is a high case number, right now we are in the 475 it is far away from 3000
Thks por answer!
September 24, 2020 at 22:05
The year lasts 12 months. No need to panic after 2 months.
September 24, 2020 at 17:17
Hi Brits, Say that the cutoff for January is 4000 for Asia. Does that mean all the embassies that are involved should clear out the 4000 applicants at the end of January? If they fail to interview all the 4000 cases by January would that effect the February cutoff numbers? I’m asking this because I do not have much faith in embassies or KCC, we have seen how slowly most of them performed under a court order. They surely wouldn’t speed up the process without one.
September 24, 2020 at 22:03
4000 won’t mean 4000 cases. If the next month was 6000, then any case under 6000 could get interviewed the next month. That’s how it works.
September 25, 2020 at 13:26
Ah yes I forgot about the holes as well. Thanks you Brits!
September 24, 2020 at 17:15
Good afternoon!
I am Selected DV 2021 SA case number 2xx from Venezuela; And I want your opinion please: we have not sent the ds 260 because we need a PRIOR renewal of the b1 / b2 tourist visa because it recently expired and because we are Venezuelans we cannot renew it without an interview and the interviews are suspended without a start date for we Venezuelans; so:
what is the safe deadline to ship the ds260 to complete the dv process?
September 24, 2020 at 22:02
Up to about March.
September 27, 2020 at 16:05
Hi Emmy, I’m from Venezuela too. Why you say you need to renew the B!/B2 visa prior to sending the DS260?
September 24, 2020 at 17:08
Good morning Brit,
Does this VB is applied for dv lottery 2020 too. My brother case number is 2020AS2664. And he is waiting for the interview to be scheduled.
September 24, 2020 at 21:57
No. 2020 cases are all depending on the lawsuit.
September 24, 2020 at 16:52
Hi Brit,
VB doesn’t talk about registration window(entry period) for DV-2022. Is there an official announcement about DV-2022 elsewhere?
Thanks!
September 24, 2020 at 21:56
Not yet – should be in the next few days.
