Hello Brit
Do you think next bulletin reaches 18***?
February 4, 2019 at 05:54
AF?? Probably.
February 8, 2019 at 03:21
Hi BritSimon – as to the Sponsor’s requirements – I have read everything you posted, plus looked at the I-34 form but am confused about the Federal Poverty Guidelines – somewhere I saw the income needed to be 125% of what the minimum is for 2 people. Then I saw 100%. Then in another site I saw 133%. Can you clarify which ii is? On the I-34 it does not specify. Last year’s income for me was significantly different/lower than previous years because my boss retired and closed her business and I received unrmployment for the remainder of the year. (including some other income).
I own a home with almost no mortgage left, plus have good savings and investments and no debt – does this help if you barely make the Poverty Level Requirement for just 2018 for yourself and the immigrant? (previous years show double my income for 2018).
February 8, 2019 at 03:31
It’s based on income, not assets.
100%.
February 8, 2019 at 03:39
Thanks for such a speedy reply (I wonder why they bother asking about all your assets then?)
February 8, 2019 at 03:42
Assets could theoretically be counted, but there is a question of valuation, then debt, then net value is divided by 5, and finally a house is not considered liquid. So. Income.
February 8, 2019 at 03:42
Also – is it GROSS income or NET? The reason I ask is because I just barely squeak in this past year.
February 8, 2019 at 03:55
and so….If I am $1,000+ over the minimum requirement, based on my tax return, would that qualify or disqualify me? (my Gross was much higher).
February 8, 2019 at 04:37
It’s gross.
Formula described here:
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
February 8, 2019 at 05:25
Thanks so much for your answers. Do you know whether just being $1,000 over the poverty line would probably disqualify me as a Sponsor? (my return shows $32K but the adjusted gross after taxes and deductions comes to $18K.
The rest of my financial picture is good. Just 2018 was a different year.
February 4, 2019 at 06:05
Hello Mr Brit
I received an email from KCC asking me to send docs but ma case num is 2019AF 35*** . Was thinking about sending it and do another police cert when my interview is around the corner. Is it a good idea? Thanks

February 4, 2019 at 10:46
Hi Brit, dv 2019 case AF22××× submitted my ds 260 early June & owing to this new process of scanning the docs, it is now at case 36××× i missed the mail what might be the issue?
February 4, 2019 at 14:05
I don’t know. Send the documents.
February 4, 2019 at 12:41
Dear Simon.
Hope you are well.
I have recently decided to research about the DV lottery and came across your blog. Hopefully if the lottery is still open for 2021 I would like to apply. However I have some issues regarding my full name on my birth certificate, passport and high school diploma.
My first and surname are standard throughout all my documents however my middle has spelling differences in all three. Would this be an issue, would it be better for me to get an affidavit ensuring that it was all typing errors or should I request for new certificates to eliminate the issue altogether?
Thank you for your time and all the information available on this blog
Kind Regards
February 4, 2019 at 14:10
It is FAR too early to be thinking about this for a lottery where your chance of winning is 1 in 200 years.
February 5, 2019 at 06:55
Wow o.O
February 4, 2019 at 14:30
Is this a problem?
My wife (now) filled ds260 single. We got married and we updated our ds260. We are asked for additional documents according to new procedure and submitted successfully”asked on nov 3 submitted on dec 5″. We got our 2NL on 18th feb. (As22** nepal).
..
..
In 2NL I’am (husband) not mentioned anywhere. In beneficiaries option there is written none.
Is this a mistake or it is normal?
.
(We are having medical in feb 13 both of us) thanks in advance.
February 5, 2019 at 09:05

February 4, 2019 at 17:54
The auto reply will come IN ALL CASES – WHATEVER you send. So – that doesn’t mean anything!
Are you quoting your case number with year/region/number? With or without the leading zeros?
February 5, 2019 at 00:05
I sent the case number as subject with year/region/number and zero
February 5, 2019 at 15:33
Adil, don’t summit your Docs by replying their messages or just use different email address
February 5, 2019 at 17:57

February 4, 2019 at 20:47
Hello Brit,
What should I do in the case police certificate is not valid at interview date? It has 3 months of validity and difference from date of sending docs via email to interview date is longer than 3 months.
Thanks,
February 4, 2019 at 23:59
You may want to send a certificate now and then get a new certificate nearer the interview date.
February 4, 2019 at 21:59
Hello Mr Simon
I sent DS260 for me and my wife, and now she didnt want to go to US,shall i remove her from DS or it is ok to leave her and then go alone for interview.
Thank you for the answer.
February 5, 2019 at 00:02
You can just go alone to the interview. You cannot remove her DS260 anyway, and should not take her off your DS260 unless your marital status has changed.
February 5, 2019 at 04:11
Hello sir My interview was in feb 4 and The consulor said me your sponsor’s income is low and He gave me a papar. In paper He wrote that Relationship verification with sponsor. I consulted with many consultancies but they need more than 1 lakh to solve my case. please suggest me sir what will better to do?
February 5, 2019 at 09:08
Can you contact me . Email: “ruleshaddy” at gmail dot com
February 5, 2019 at 09:46
are you a lawyer?
February 5, 2019 at 14:34
1. Is the income low according to the formulas?
2. Do you know the sponsor – is the relationship real?
February 5, 2019 at 15:46
1.No sir! Income of my sponsor is higher than federal poverty level($37000 per year for 5 member including me )
2.yes sir I know her since childhood but no any relation with her and I said she is my neighbour in interview and family frn to her husband
February 5, 2019 at 16:48
Then you don’t have to worry – you just need to decide how to show the CO that you have known that person for a long time.
February 5, 2019 at 17:33
Ok thank u sir and sir my sponsor is from Newyork,As the consulor two times said your Income is low during interview, Can I have to attach another sponsor with him?
February 5, 2019 at 18:00
No.
February 5, 2019 at 04:15
Hi brite I have question is there any condition or situation or chance after intervew finally the deraivate/beneficiary visa refused but the principal visa approved(issude) ? thanks!
February 5, 2019 at 14:35
Yes that can happen for a derivative spouse that is denied for some reason.
February 5, 2019 at 05:39
Hi Brit,
I sent my documents and was asked to resend saying they needed translation even though all documents were in English. I resent anyway and have received an auto reply saying they have received them…
Should I expect to receive an email saying the documents have been processed?
Thanks
February 5, 2019 at 14:35
Possibly. But you can also check with them after a few weeks.

Help please, I have 2 citezenships, and I added this information on ds260. But, I lost my passport… Can I use the passport from the country from which I was born? or should I obtain the second passport from another country?
February 5, 2019 at 14:44
Doesn’t matter which one you use unless one of the countries is under the travel ban.
February 5, 2019 at 12:45
Greetings Brit, pls how can I change my address inorder to receive my GC. I have been here in the states for 10days now n I still have to change my address. Pls help me out. Thank you.
February 5, 2019 at 14:46
You can change your address via USCIS online (google it). However, that most likely will not change where they send the GC.
February 5, 2019 at 12:57
Hi Britsimon, In 4th feb it was my interview. Everything went well throughout the interview process. Finally the Consular officer said your visa is approved. Congratulations. You are welcome to America. And took my passport and medical document with him. Today i checked my Immigration visa status and it was Adminstrative Processing. What does it mean? Do i get visa? How long does it take to issue visa? Thankyou alot for your all support and consideration.
February 5, 2019 at 14:47
The answer to this is in the FAQ. Read that.
February 5, 2019 at 13:16
Hi Brit, I have two questions.
I already sent the DS260 form and now received a mail asking me to submit the documents I’m taking with me in case an interview is scheduled with a consular officer. What I don’t know is if I have to submit all the documents I’m planning to take to the interview or if I have to submit only those they requested wich are: copy of international travel passport biodata page, birth certificate, military records(wich I don’t have) and police certificates.
The other question, I am venezuelan but live in Chile since ten months ago. Do I have to submit and take to an interview Police certificates from both Chile and Venezuela?
February 5, 2019 at 14:48
Send what they ask for – not more.
Technically, not for Chile – but I would suggest you obtain one anyway.
February 5, 2019 at 14:52
Hello
I know same person that don’t get there interview date according to visa bulletin for example that case number 3500 it was in January but he get interview in February even though he sent documents promptly
February 5, 2019 at 17:01
Yes – we are well aware of many instances like that.
February 5, 2019 at 15:15
hi britsimons
my case number is 2019AF106xx
I’m still waiting for the second letter
knowing that I sent the documentation to kcc November 6, 2018 and that I received only the automatic response.
my questions are:
1- Are there any other confirmation answers other than the automatic answer?
2- Is this delay normal, or caused by the closure of the government or?
knowing that i wrote to kcc on my appointment and i received three answers
-the first (automatic)
-the second asks me to send the documents
– the third: Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received or will be receiving an email shortly from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions on how to keep your file going. Please follow the instructions in the email. The interviews are digitally programmed according to the case numbers that have been completed.
– 3- What do you advise me?
February 5, 2019 at 17:00
1. It varies – don’t stress about whether you got a reply or not.
2. Contact KCC. From the last KCC email they are saying they are “going to” send you a request to send documents, so perhaps they don’t have what you sent. Ask KCC if they have your documents.
3. See 2.
February 5, 2019 at 16:02
Hi Brit good afternoon. I have been visiting your blog since 2017 and you are doing great job here. God bless the you kind effort
February 5, 2019 at 16:47
Thanks for saying hi!
February 5, 2019 at 16:56
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. Apart from this message, any different message after inquiry, you must resubmit your docs
February 5, 2019 at 18:24
Brit,
What’s the criteria used by kcc to send emails for further document submission? if you have no idea then is it possible to do some research and advise?
February 5, 2019 at 18:38
I don’t know, and they won’t tell me. Patience.
February 5, 2019 at 21:29
hi mister, send my ds yesterday it is normal not to receive a confirmation email my case number came out in the newsletter in October 2019SA000002xx
February 5, 2019 at 22:45

February 6, 2019 at 01:48
hi brit do i need to submit court records to kcc , i never been convicted of anything and it says IF convicted , but some friends told me that i need to submit them
February 6, 2019 at 04:10
There will not be any court records if you have not been to court.
February 6, 2019 at 07:20
Hello Mr Brit
I haven’t received an email about sending my documents to the KCC, my case number is 2019AF 25*** . Should I be worried because i see people commenting on your site with similar or higher case numbers than me? I submitted my DS260 form in may last year.
February 6, 2019 at 07:57
Gabriel: Me either Case # 2019AF244**. I send an email to KCC about it and they send the usual auto replay and the following mail,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
For additional information, please refer to the following websites:
I guess that they are still processing DS-260 which was submitted on November 2, 2018.
February 7, 2019 at 06:39
I know that’s why I didn’t bother asking them. Its always the same reply. Guess we just have to wait and be patient.
February 8, 2019 at 07:25
Hi guys, if KCC hasn’t asked for documents then relax, if you’re really worried about this please call KCC because by email the support is really bad, you will get only auto replies with nonsense, for example you ask about a specific thing and you will get a reply “KCC is processing your documents…” lol when you didn’t even send any document, that’s my advice. In my case, KCC sent the email asking for documents, I sent 3 times the documents and they replied that something was wrong with 1 or more documents, after the 4th attempt, they accepted everything and received the email saying that DS-260 and sent documents are correct, after this email you just need to sit down and wait for the 2NL according to your case number (check the Visa Bulletin to understand when it will happen)
RELAX, THINK, CALL KCC!
February 6, 2019 at 14:37
No need to worry. You can send the documents before being asked if you want.
February 7, 2019 at 06:40
Thanks Brit
February 6, 2019 at 10:19
Can i change the sponsor in the interview ???
February 6, 2019 at 14:39
Yes
February 6, 2019 at 13:33
Hi brit
1. I was faced with the situation
Where my wife was issued visa, and I was still been kept on ready.
The councillor didn’t told us the reason to this effect.
2. On her way to the U.S all of our essential documents that includes ( marry certificate, birth certificate, high school diploma and our wedding photos) were taken from her at Detroit airport.
This is the three months since she got to the United States, they haven’t call her for those documents, neither have they getting to her.
I don’t understand the reason they took those documents from her.
February 6, 2019 at 14:40
Well, if you mean they kept the documents in the sealed envelope – that is normal. That is why you provide copies of those documents at the interview – because they will keep those documents in their file.
February 6, 2019 at 14:06
hello please do u need a passport before filling the D260 FORM?
February 6, 2019 at 14:40
No. You need a passport by the time of the interview.
February 6, 2019 at 19:35
Hi Brit,
While filling the first entry form for DV 2019 i chose chargability based on my wife country of birth and I have been selected for DV 2019, I continue the process and submit the required documents to KCC, then they gave me an appointment date with the embassy, I did the medical check and went to the embassy in the appointment date, in the embassy they told me I have chosen chargability based on my wife country of birth while my country is eligible that will disqualify me and they advise me not to proceed with the interview in order not to loose the processing fees, I got shocked and left the embassy without proceeding with the interview process my questions is:
1- don’t I have the choice to choose my or my spouse country of birth even my country of birth is eligible for DV lottery?
2- is it possible to change my mind and ask to proceed with the interview process even if I have to pay the fees?
February 6, 2019 at 19:53
1. Yes you can do that. The embassy is misinformed. You should have gone to the interview with some documentation (see link below). Read my link then print the 9 FAM guidance highlighting the text I will copy below.
2. Yes – but you will need to arrange that with the embassy.
https://britsimonsays.com/country-of-chargeability-for-dv-lottery/
(d) (U) A principal registrant born in a country that is among those for which DVs are available may derive a more favorable foreign state of chargeability from an accompanying alien spouse. For example, a principal applicant from a DV eligible country from a high-admission region may claim a more favorable chargeability from a spouse, who is from a DV eligible country from a low-admission region, provided the relationship was established prior to submitting the DV entry. In such instances, however, both applicants are considered principal applicants for the purpose of cross-chargeability and must be issued visas and apply for admission to the United States simultaneously.
February 10, 2019 at 00:54
Hi Brit,
Thanks a lot that really helped me, I really appreciate your help on this matter, I already contacted the embassy explaining the situation hilighting the 9 FAM guidance statement regarding my case and I ask for my appointment to be rescheduled, I received a new appointment within this month, I will print the 9 FAM for my next appointment, I hope things goes well this time. Thanks again for your quick response I will never forget your help in this matter all my life, many many thanks
February 10, 2019 at 03:57
Good luck.
February 6, 2019 at 19:52

February 11, 2019 at 23:30
So you need to correct the ds260.
February 11, 2019 at 23:58
How I can do that I mean how I can change the DS260 date ?
February 12, 2019 at 03:07
Unlock and correct it. Read the FAQ.
February 12, 2019 at 18:48
Dears,
Any one can help the steps how to unlock DS260 to change the date of birth please!
Thanks and Best regards
February 12, 2019 at 18:55
That is described in the FAQ.
February 12, 2019 at 21:06
Thanks BritSimon for your kind assistance
I read the FAQ and says
You need to include your full name, Full case number (like 2015AF00031999) and your date of birth in Month/Day/Year format (MM/DD/YYYY)
My Question is
1) which birth date i have to provide DS260 (01/02/1973) which is not correct or the Birth date to be correct to 01/01/1973? which is same of Birth Certificate and Passport
2) The KCC will correct or the will allow me to correct the DS260 Birth date during filling the form to submit with correct Birth date?
February 12, 2019 at 21:09
1. In communications with KCC ypou will have to use the date you used in the original entry. You can then have a different date in the DS260.
2. They will unlock the form and you will correct it (if needed)
February 13, 2019 at 18:58
Mega thanks Brit,
For your information I did not fill and submit my DS260 form in this cause
during filling DS260 form can I change the wrong DS260 mistaken Birth date with out calling KCC or even not complete and submit DS260 form I have to call and inform KCC to unlock DS260? for your kind advice please!
February 13, 2019 at 19:06
The DS260 needs the right date. If you have not yet submitted the DS260, just make sure you put the correct date (and all other information).
February 7, 2019 at 01:58
Hi Brit! I already have my visa I just need to activate them. I’m from Europe but I’m currently on a visa in Canada. I was reading that there are already US CBP areas at canadian Airports, does it mean I’m gonna get my stamp (I-551) at the airport in Canada leaving towards USA? I’m planning to fly to USA from Canada just to activate the visa and then move there in few months. Do you know anything about this process? Thank you!
February 7, 2019 at 03:37
I don’t know if they process those at the Canadian airport or in the USA arrival airport.
February 8, 2019 at 05:15
Hi, I found the answer. So basically people coming to USA through Canada need to activate Green Card or any other visa in Canada and they’re arriving to USA as domestic flights. Wish I knew that before booking an early flight expecting to have interview in Seattle not Vancouver.
February 7, 2019 at 04:08
Hi brit i got an email yesterday requesting me to send other required documents like passport biodata and police certificate.my question is how soon can will they tell me ma interview date after i do that
February 7, 2019 at 04:16
Send It as soon as u can and wait until they send u an email confirming that ur docs are complete and valid.
February 7, 2019 at 05:33
I don’t know.
February 7, 2019 at 05:16
Hi, I have a question. I’m a DV 2019 winner and currently studying in the US and going to do Adjustment of Status in the US and will submit my application in March. But the question is that I’m staying a temparary place( my boyfriend’s place) now and I’m not sure how long I will stay here and have this address. Even if I stay here, his lease will end in the end of summer.
Could it be a cause for delay of the process if I change my address many times during the processing time?
Is it possible to use my friend’s address as my mailing address in the application?
Thank you.

Yes that could cause delay. Use a more permanent address.

Hello Brit
Would appreciate your suggestion.
I’m the selectee and i applied the DS260 for both myself and my wife. my wife is now pregnant and i have the impression that our case number (AS99XX) will become around the same time she suppose to give birth.
I have several concerns/questions:
1) if we will be scheduled an appointment and either she or both of us will not be able to attend
2) If she will give birth before our appointment has been scheduled, but our DS260 shows we have no kids.which then be not true
3) If she give birth, and still no official documentation of the newborn be ready (i.e passport).
I guess you already understood the idea….
What is your suggestion as how to pproach athis?
Thanks so much
Yanivello

Thanks a lot
What i couldnt find there is if either my wife or both of us wont be able to attend the interview, due to the medical reason related with the birth ( or a generally medical issue. If there is a difference)
Thanks again

Then you would have to contact the embassy and rearrange, but unless your wife is actually having the baby during the exact moment of the interview you should get to the interview. This is not an appointment for a haircut.

Hi. My CN is AF14***. I was included in the visa bulletin last month (13800_15300) but I did not receive the 2nl what should I do?
February 7, 2019 at 20:05
If you have submitted your DS260 AND have submitted your documents to KCC, then you can wait.
February 7, 2019 at 20:13
Thank u! Yes i also sent the requested documents and i did not receive the confirmation email so i sent them a message they asked me to send back my documents. Hello BritSimon
My case DV2019SA4XX Ecuador, I want to tell you about my experience in the interview I had on February 6, 2019 in which they approved my residence visa.
My interview was at 11:30 in the morning after going through all the security checks and scans they asked me for the paper of the record of the appointment and they told me to sit down and wait for them to call me.
When they called me at the window they gave me passport, the 2 photos, birth registration, criminal record certificate and my professional title, they gave me the value to cancel and they told me to cancel and return here to the window.
Cancel and return deliver the receipt paid and they told me to take a seat, wait for them to call.
When they called me it was in another window where the consul was going to interview me.
I approached greet and began the questions.
1) What is your marital status?
2) You have another nationality
3) You have lived outside of your country at some time
4) You have traveled to the United States
5) You have children
6) How many children do you have?
7) How old is your son or daughter
8) What does your son or daughter say if you leave?
9) You have had problems with justice
10) What did you study at the university
11) You exercise your profession
12) What do you think you work in the United States?
Congratulations your residence visa has been approved.
They were many questions but with concrete answers of yes or no that everything was made fast. Then they give you a congratulatory paper.
They were many questions but with concrete answers of yes or no reason why the interview was fast.
I thank you very much for your blog that was of great help for the orientation and preparation of the entire process. They were many questions but with concrete answers of yes or no reason why the interview was fast.

February 7, 2019 at 20:29
Most interviews are shorter than that – but yep, if you have prepared well it is pretty easy huh! Best of luck!
February 8, 2019 at 07:35
Hola Lisa, thanks for your comment, my mother, father and sister will have the interview in the same consulate (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and I’m happy to know how you were treated there, will pass this info to my family, I can’t go with them because I’m 25 and my mom’s the winner.
Thank you and good luck in the US, enjoy your new life. If you don’t mind getting in touch with me because I live in Quito and I would like to know some things about the consulate in Guayaquil.
February 11, 2019 at 16:20
Of course, if I can gladly comment on my experience in the consular interview.
February 12, 2019 at 00:56
Can you provide your email or any other contact info?
Thanks!
February 7, 2019 at 20:58
Hello dear Brit,
Can an anonymous accusatory letter, regardless of the motivation of those who send them, be the reason for the refusal of entry to America to the holder of the green card at the border? (winner of the dv lottery).
February 7, 2019 at 21:33
At the border???? I doubt it.
February 8, 2019 at 02:22

CASE NO. 2019AS34XX
Hey Brit,
I have prepared police certificate from Nepal and Japan. But officers here in Japan told me not to open the package until you are in immigration. So for now, should i forward the documents to kcc leaving Japan’s police cert or to open it and send all the documents. My case will be current in next VB, i hope i won’t miss it.
February 8, 2019 at 14:33
Do not unseal it. Take a photo/scan of the outside of the envelope, and send that and a screenshot of the reciprocity page for Japan where the instructions to leave it sealed are shown.
February 10, 2019 at 05:31
Okay thanks again brit.
February 8, 2019 at 09:24
Hi Simon,
There is a question and I appreciate you to advise us.
A woman, who is now homemaker, has given her university degree to a company to benefit it. The company has put her name as a member of board of directors and she is a shareholder of the company as well. However, she does not work in reality for the company and does not get any kind of income regarding this matter.
In your opinion, how should she mention this matter in the work history of DS-260? Or it is not important to be mentioned?
February 8, 2019 at 14:37
Simple answer. Just the truth. She is a non working director. That is not a position of employment.
February 8, 2019 at 10:43
good luck bro
February 8, 2019 at 15:16
Good day Simon,
I found some mistakes on my wiife’s (Derivative) name on DS260.
In Belarus both russian and belarusian are official national languages.
Here the two mistakes:
1. We wrote Name and Surname in latin alphabet as in the passport (translated from belarusian) but middlle name translated from russian.
2. In the FULL NAME IN NATIVE ALPHABET we used all russian, it is correct but it’s not the exact translation of what we wrote in the “latin alphabet” name field.
Should we ask to unlock the DS260 and make all the corrections or not recommended ?
Thank you
February 8, 2019 at 16:07
Stop worrying about minor details – especially for the derivative.
February 8, 2019 at 17:52
They will see a middle name in the DS260 and a different one in the birth and police certificates (two letters different) but if you say it’s ok, of course i trust you. Thanks again.
February 8, 2019 at 18:03
What I am saying is that as it is a derivative, it will not be considered important. The legal name (for printing the visa) must of course match the passport.
February 8, 2019 at 18:11
What drives me crazy is that all russians have a middle name (coming from father’s name) but the passport BIO data page does not show it, it’s on the back page in cirillic.
February 8, 2019 at 19:38
Why are you still talking about that?
February 8, 2019 at 18:03
And if needed, you can make changes at the interview.
February 8, 2019 at 15:26
