Hello Simon. I used your advise from your site today to unlock my ds260 and in just few hours kcc re-opened my ds, thank you. And please one more quest. about my second Roumanian citizenchip: Should i indicate my home rezidence from Bucharest in DS form as previous adress {its more than 6 months} and also to present a police cerificate from Roumania even if i don’t live there, i have just an adress in my Roumanin ID card? And in ds they asked for my passport which is expired, should i indicate my ID number instead of Passport or to write passport number and present it to the emassy?
March 6, 2019 at 02:48
Write the truth, whatever that is.
March 6, 2019 at 02:21
Simon, quick question.
If I pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee, say three months in advance of entering POE, am I likely to receive the Green Card earlier than paying the fee a week before the POE entry?
Or does the actual trigger of the LPR status at POE dictate the Green Card issue timing?
UCIS website says “We strongly encourage you to pay the USCIS Immigrant FEE after you pick up your immigrant visa…”, the key phrases are “strongly encourage you to pay” and “after you ‘pick up’ your immigrant visa…”
Many thanks.
March 6, 2019 at 02:48
No difference.

Dear Brit
Part of the required documents to be emailed to KCC according th enew procedure is th epolice cert.
In my country, the police doesnt issue it and hand it over to me, they only send it to the approved embassy/consulate.
What shall i do in this case, shall i not email it to KCC and make an explanation in the email?, or any other suggestion.
Furtheremore, when shall i request the cert considering both the time it might take them to send it to the embassy,my CN (AS99XX),the cert validity etc.
Thank you as always
Yanivear
March 6, 2019 at 18:05
You show proof that you followed the procedure (as laid out in the instructions) and that you requested the police cert.
March 7, 2019 at 05:17
Yes. I know that. However the process in my country is an online process where we submit the request and no receipt or any other proof is issued at the end of the process.
Maybe taking a screen shots will satisfy?
Thank you
March 7, 2019 at 17:37
Use your best judgement.
March 6, 2019 at 19:40

March 7, 2019 at 03:15
Hi Brit.
It is a pleasure meeting you after a while.
1. The file in progress of a case involving couple sitting an interview and one person been issued a visa, (specially the female spouse filing in for her husband )
Is it similar to ordinary green card holder filing in for their spouse.
2. If not, what do u think could be the best approach in that case.
To be honest with you, my wife is trying to put our documents through but she want to know weather It is the same procedure
March 7, 2019 at 17:36
1. I don’t know what you mean.
March 7, 2019 at 19:29
I mean my wife and I sat the interview together in 2018 may
We were placed on administrative processing, after service months the Ambassy call us, but unfortunately only my wife was issued a visa. My wife enter the U. S since November of last year.
My concern here is that,
1. Is she have to file in for me normally like other green card holder do when sending for their spouse.
2. Or do we have to hire a lawyer for legal advice
3. Or what do you think could be the best approach to this?
March 7, 2019 at 22:17
1. Yes
2. Your choice.
3. I only advise on DV cases.
March 8, 2019 at 05:40
For sure Brit.
It is a D.V case
I mean 2018 D.V Year
March 8, 2019 at 08:04
The db case is finished
March 8, 2019 at 08:05
Dv case.
March 7, 2019 at 04:59
Hi Brit.
I would like to ask if it is normal to have no appointments available in the Schedule Consular Appointment when I register for the passport delivery despite having the 2NL interview date scheduled by KCC.
Thank you!
March 7, 2019 at 17:37
You don’t need to schedule an appointment – you already have one.
March 9, 2019 at 00:04
greetings brit, 2017 tax return from the sponsor is it okay?
March 9, 2019 at 00:20
It might be acceptable with some current proof of income to show the income has continued. Otherwise 2018 tax returns myst be filed by mid April anyway.
March 7, 2019 at 07:43

Some people said that delay receving the social and the green card

March 7, 2019 at 17:39

March 7, 2019 at 09:25

March 7, 2019 at 14:01
Hi brit;
My case no is AF14xxx,i sent required document to kcc in november 2018 but in feb 2019 kcc sent the same email (The Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has completed processing of your DS-260 Diversity Visa application form and the DS-260s of all accompanying family members..) so i check it again the document i sent it before,i founded that my birth certicate i sent it before was incomplete because we didnt put birth certificate number on it. I corrected it then i Sent all the document for second. But i still dont know if kcc have accepted my document or if my case was delayed
March 7, 2019 at 17:46
Ask KCC if you want.
March 7, 2019 at 14:12
Hi, last week i received the KFC email to send them doctmnts, CN43k; they’re asking military record for anyone who’s serving or previously served in the military; I did never serve, but smth confusing me is that people in my country (Algeria) where the military service is an obligation for men, are sending a so-called permit, (given for students to show they’re in law with the military but it’s not what they’re asking for), so shall i send that #permit or nothing since i did not serve in MIL ?
March 7, 2019 at 17:48
Send the permit that shows why you don’t have military records.
March 7, 2019 at 14:56
Hi Brits , I sent my documents yesterday and KCC replied that I needed to sent complete docs. The other two documents ( military records and criminal records ) do not concern my case bc I’ve never been served in the military or been convicted for a crime. Please what am I suppose to do? Thanks for your time
March 7, 2019 at 17:49
You can’t send documents that don’t concern your case can you!
March 7, 2019 at 19:28
Obviously not. Thanks alot
March 8, 2019 at 04:19
You need to send the police clearance certificate whether you’ve been convicted or not!
March 8, 2019 at 07:31
?
March 8, 2019 at 08:04
Criminal records are not police certs.
March 11, 2019 at 15:00
Hello, lucia, you need a certificate of non conviction.
March 7, 2019 at 15:21
Hi Simon
So I completed my DS-260 and got the notification that I submit a valid DS-260. My case number is current for the VB in April. Do you know by chance when they will send out the interview dates?
Many thanks and best regards,
Meret
March 7, 2019 at 17:50
All April interviews have been notified, so you will have a later interview (possibly May). I assume you sent your documents? If so – be patient.
March 7, 2019 at 21:08
Hello Brit
I send you an email. Kindly look at it and give me your advise
March 7, 2019 at 22:10
FYI, I am travelling, so I won’t look at it until tomorrow and if it did not need to be private I will not answer.

Hi Brit,
I have paid my immigration (GC) fee and those of my derivatives online today after we received our visas yesterday. I have also successfully created an online account at USCIS website. Thanks so much for your immense support. Kindly help me with an answer to the question below:
I intend to change my mailing address on arrival at the POE and I notice the online account allows me to change the mailing address. If I change it online, will it still be necessary to request for the original to be changed by the immigration officer at the POE?
March 8, 2019 at 15:54
Yes.
March 8, 2019 at 17:16
Helo brit , im 2019DV winner. Could i know about should we all get the military and
prison records for document submit procedure ?
March 8, 2019 at 17:24
You could read the instructions that explains what documents are generally needed. You could then check the list of documents required to submit to KCC (in the instructions also). Reciprocity pages (linked from the instructions) explain how to obtain certain documents like the police cert. And sometimes you just use some common sense.
March 8, 2019 at 23:14
Hi Brit,
I am currently trying to create a profile to enable pick up of my visa package. However i am unable to find DV under the visa class option.
Kindly assist
March 9, 2019 at 00:21
What options are listed?
March 11, 2019 at 14:14
Dear Sir
I have interview in April. During the medical test they asked if any one from our family has/had tuberculosis, i answer yes, because my grandfather had it, but I never lived with him, and i never saw him before, i told them that i never lived with him.
Is this will effect on my case?
March 11, 2019 at 15:03
No.
March 11, 2019 at 09:40
Select immigration visa
March 9, 2019 at 05:35
hi brit
first of all your blog is very very helpful, and big thank you for all the information.
I am from nepal and my wife has been awarded a DV with case number 2019AS00004XXX, i am little bit confused with this number, as there is except nepal case in the visa buletin. In the bulletin the cutoff number for asia for march is 5000 by which we may get 2NL by this month, but in case of Nepal there is except 3400 so what does that imply? my case number will be based on nepal or asia.
Thanks for your help
March 9, 2019 at 14:57
If your wife is from Nepal, then Nepal.
March 9, 2019 at 15:15
But Nepal is in Asia and as in my case number there is 2019AS00004XXX.(AS implies Asia in this)
..so in March bulletin cut off for Asia is 5000 which mean I should get 2nl in this month …
But in the visa bulletin there is another cutoff for Nepal which is 3400 so do I have to wait much longer…
Thanks
March 9, 2019 at 15:24
Again. NEPAL!
March 9, 2019 at 06:28
Hello,
Can I withdraw my DV application (before being selected for the interview)? If so, how?
Thanks so much.
March 9, 2019 at 14:58
No
March 9, 2019 at 07:16
Hi brit.please I have a problem. I played the lottery and omitted letter N from my name. Ngimndoh Nadine was written as Ngimdoh Nadine, and I also Field this name with the Omitted N. My birth certificate and diploma has but the Original name with N, as Ngimndoh Nadine. Am confused and fraid now with the differences. Even my passport, the atministors mistakenly added a U in the name as ; Nguimndoh. Please I need your advice. Do I still have chances. My case is 2019AF37***. Thanks in advance
March 9, 2019 at 15:05
So it sounds like you commonly miswrite your name – often in the same way. There will be a suspicion of multiple lottery applications under various spellings of your name. They will look for that. However, your documents should be accurate and as it is your passport and birth cert do not match. So you need to decide what your name actually is, then get your documents corrected by official sources. Then correct the DS260 to that name. If you need to, the DS260 has a place for other names used.
March 9, 2019 at 11:08
hi Brits…can a refusal due to embassy error or individual misunderstanding between people receiving documents after a 221g letter be changed on ceac again to issued if all necessary documents are available but the embassy staff didn’t collect them at the time it was requested?
The embassy called me to be there on Tuesday will my explanations change anything from refused to issued?
March 9, 2019 at 15:23
I don’t know anything about your case – so there is no point in me trying to guess the outcome.
March 9, 2019 at 16:04
hello, where can i check if i have been scheduled an interview?
March 9, 2019 at 22:54
Check the ESC page where you saw your 1NL
March 9, 2019 at 16:15
hi brits
in form ds260 i did mistake in number of passport
i mistakly put letter O in place of number zero
P0987432 i made it PO987432
can i change at the interveiw day or unlock my ds260
March 9, 2019 at 22:55
If not already scheduled, change now.
March 9, 2019 at 16:17
True brother! 1. But have u ever seen a refuse d case change to ready or issued ?
2. administrative processing takes days or several weeks but mine only lasted 1 week and few days and embassy never called for additional documents even after submitting the 221g with some documents as the recipient stated that I should hold on with the other documents because the embassy will call if needed. Is this correct?
March 9, 2019 at 22:55
Like I said – I have no idea about your case.
March 9, 2019 at 16:53
Hi Brit,
I have received my 2NL stating the date and time of my interview.
I had filled out in my ds-260 that my spouse isn’t migrating with me to US. If i changed my mind, can I still show up for the interview with him?
I would unlock my ds 260 if it’s still possible but I won’t be able to do it now.
March 9, 2019 at 17:31
It’s quite impossible since your interview has been scheduled already
March 9, 2019 at 19:45
All you can do is contact the embassy asap, to see if they can help.
March 9, 2019 at 22:49
Good evening Brit. I have two questions to ask you 1) I changed my sponsor, do I have to write to the embassy for the informed I changed my sponsor. 2) my new sponsor says he will send the documents directly to the embassy (Abidjan). I would like to know if this procedure is possible and if also I have to write to the embassy to tell them my sponsor will send the documents directly to the embassy before my interview
March 10, 2019 at 20:17
Am waiting for the response here because i am also planning to change my sponsor, what’s the process of changing?
March 10, 2019 at 01:46
Hello BritSimon, I just had a quick question about Police Checks. I know that Police Checks are valid for twelve months – does that mean applicants have twelve months from the time they are issued to enter the US? ie. could someone enter the country within the six month visa period with only one month left on their police check? Thanks for your help!
March 10, 2019 at 01:48
Police checks do not affect your entry to the USA, BUT they should ideally be as recent as possible at the interview.
March 10, 2019 at 17:41
Hello Brit. I have two questions to ask you
1) I changed my sponsor, do I have to write to the embassy for the informed I changed my sponsor.
2) my new sponsor says he will send the documents directly to the embassy (Abidjan). I would like to know if this procedure is possible and if also I have to write to the embassy to tell them my sponsor will send the documents directly to the embassy before my interview
March 10, 2019 at 19:47
1. No – because they do not know who your sponsor is.
2. No that is not possible. You take the I-134 with you for the interview.
March 10, 2019 at 20:38
Let`s say i`m on a HB1 visa, of course doing a job that is of Job Zone 4 (7.0), am i allowed to do the lottery still?
And if i get selected, and are scheduled for an interview, will i be denied, knowing that i`m working on a HB1 visa?
And if i do still get handed the visa, will the HB1 be terminated then? which i doubt since its contract based or whatever.
March 10, 2019 at 20:55
You can enter the lottery, and if you were selected, the process would be fine. I was H1B myself. No need for further questions unless you win.
March 11, 2019 at 08:50
Brit,m appointed for tomorrow mar 12, when u saw many faq cases i saw a question that says a photoes of sponsor. So am afraid,i didn’t have any photographs of my sponsor and i don’t know his work in us, does have an a negative impact in interview . Thanks

March 11, 2019 at 17:49
Hi BritSimon.
I am the dv winner from Nepal. My interview date is fixed in April 2019. My consultancy says you need to submit following documents of sponsor.
Date of birth
Social security number
Us green card number
W2 having the income more than $50000
Sponsor letter .
My sponsor says , These documents are not needed for the dv winners. Also I have listened some of the cases are rejected due to weak income of sponsor. Is it true? Please suggest me.
March 11, 2019 at 17:53
You can find information about that in the FAQ. Please read that, or listen to your consultant.
March 11, 2019 at 17:55

March 12, 2019 at 01:21
Please sir reply your suggestion please .
March 12, 2019 at 01:53
I did.
March 12, 2019 at 02:29
You think this is a waste my time and money.
March 12, 2019 at 12:48
I think you asking again without reading/actioning my reply is a waste of my time.
March 11, 2019 at 17:55
Thanks Brit .
Be blesed ?
March 11, 2019 at 18:53
hi Brit, will DV-2021 registration be in october-november 2019? what do you think?
March 11, 2019 at 23:24
What, like every year for the last 20+ years. Yeah, it’s quite likely.
March 11, 2019 at 20:46
Dear Brit,
I have to pay for immigration fee during the interview. Do I have to pay the amount in dollars in cash ? Or can it be with credit card?
Very best,
March 11, 2019 at 23:27
Cash normally.
March 11, 2019 at 21:16
And please what is the NVC interview letter? Is it not the same as the one letter from the E-DV website ?
Best
March 11, 2019 at 23:29
Ignore anything regarding NVC.
March 12, 2019 at 09:15
Dear Brit Could you advise me if it is a requirement to complete and have evidence of affidavit of support before appearing for interview… Thanks Sam (2019AF15XXX)
March 12, 2019 at 10:28
Dear Brit I withdraw my earlier query as I got infomation on FAQ – sorry for jumping the gun too early… Thank you (2019AF15XXX)
March 12, 2019 at 12:14
Hello Simon,
I found your page very interesting and helpful. I entered the diversity visa program (lottery) October 2018. Now I’m trying to see my results but my confirmation number starts with 2020XXXXX and the page accepts only confirmation numbers which starts with 2019XXXXX. Why is not my number accepted and when will it be accepted from the system to see my results? I would appreciate an answer from you as this is my first time entering the lottery and I have no idea why is this happening.
Thank you
March 12, 2019 at 12:55
If you had read the instructions you would see that the results are available from May.
March 12, 2019 at 18:57
Thank you so much
March 12, 2019 at 13:34
Hi, I have but a question
My brother went for interview with his wife whom he included after haven been selected for the dv lottery. He had just one confirmation form for himself as principal applicant but he was ask to came and fill another confirmation page for his wife. But we can not find were to produce a different DS 260 for the wife since she was only added after he had won the lottery. How do I proceed.
March 12, 2019 at 22:57
He would have added a DS260 using the add applicant button in the CEAC DS260 system. However, given that he has already done the interview I don’t know how he will do that. He should ask the embassy.
March 12, 2019 at 16:12
Brit, my spouse, her Education background is vocational school, is she going to face some.problem in interview?
I’m the primary applicant.
March 12, 2019 at 18:01
only the principal applicant’s education matters. if you are the mean applcant, your wife’s education doesn’t matter
March 12, 2019 at 23:00
As she is a derivative, her education is not important.
March 12, 2019 at 17:26
Is there any new released document help the interviewer to avoid Trump Travel ban ???
March 12, 2019 at 23:00
No! There is no “avoiding” the ban.
March 12, 2019 at 17:41
Hi Simon,
I am a DV Lottery Winner. My interview date has been scheduled on April 11. My DS-260 form is needed to reopened for some revisions. On March 11 i have requested [email protected] to reopen the ds-260 by mail. later after some research i found that after the interview is scheduled KCCDV cannot reopen the ds-260. BCoz of that, Again on March 12 (afternoon) i send 2nd letter for ds-260 reopen to embassy (consulate section) of my country as per procedure. I got confirmation that they have created the case to reopen ds-260.
But in the evening of March 12 ; i got reply from the [email protected] stating ” Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case has been forwarded to the United States Embassy in ………… Because your case has been scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application. Any further inquiries regarding this case must be directed to them. ”
My doubt is that will it affect on my ds-260 form . As the request has been sent 2 times . Is there any probability that after making revision and submitting the ds-260 form. will it get re-opened again 2nd time as request has been sent 2 times now to embassy.
And how long it will take to settle ds-260 form after re-submission.
please clear my doubt. expecting faster response.
March 12, 2019 at 23:02
I don’t know whether the embassy will reopen the DS260 or not. Ask them.
March 12, 2019 at 18:25
HI somon,
Will 2 mail to reopen ds 260 to US embassy office after interview date is scheduled will afftect to reopen the ds 260 form 2 times, I mean after revision and submission of ds260 form will it get reopen again.
I send first mail to KCCDV for reopen request. but after i getting knowlege that as my interview is scheduled i should contact US embassy office to reopen ds260 i again sent mail to US embassy office. I got auto reply from us embassy and ustraveldocs, gov that case has been created to reopen ds-260 form. again after few hours i got reply from KCCDV office that they have forwared my query of unlocking ds260 Form to US embassy office as KCCDV cannot open it now.
please clear my doubt, will it affect. what should i do now. I have now only 28 days left for interview.
March 13, 2019 at 01:38
Your question is unclear, but if you NEED to make changes, you will have to work on that through the embassy.
March 12, 2019 at 19:11
Hello
My number AF25200xx, I have not yet received any email to send my document, is there a problem in my file.

March 12, 2019 at 21:48
Hello do you have any knowledge about follow to join process? My mother obtain green card through me, her US citizen son, I was wondering if she can file form i-824 follow to join partition for my younger siblings? I know they said you can file if you obtain your green card through family preference. Employment and Dv lottery.
March 13, 2019 at 01:42
