Hello,
I have a shared bank account with my aunt. the money is mine, as the only reason that the account is shared is to send money to me as needed, because I’m in another country. My question is can I show the statement of this account at the interview? or should I transfer the money to an account of my own?
April 16, 2019 at 03:44
Eitherway, but if you stay with the shared account, get a letter from your Aunt making it clear you are entitled to use all the money.
April 16, 2019 at 18:01
Thanks! Is it ok to create a new account? And if I decided to stick with the shared account, does the letter needs the bank stamp or not?
April 17, 2019 at 02:07
You should use your own judgement.

Dear Brit,
I have questions regarding i-134. Our sponsor fill out a form I-184A(contract for household member) in Dec. 2017 to support the income of the petitioner for two siblings.
1. Does this weaken our I-134 form?
2. In part 3 of I-134 form there is a question; “I have previously submitted affidavit(s) of support for the following person(s).” Is I-184A form considered as affidavit of support?
Thanks!
April 16, 2019 at 03:50
1. Possibly.
2. Yes (I think you mean I-864)
April 16, 2019 at 10:31
I thought I-184 and I-184A are two different forms. I-184 was filled by his mother (the petitioner) and as a household member he had fill out I-184A (“Contract Between Sponsor and Household Member”). Is your answer still yes?
April 16, 2019 at 11:01
I am very sorry Brit. I mean I-864A.
April 17, 2019 at 01:55
Yes
April 16, 2019 at 03:51
Thanks for your help and my question is me and my family won the lottery and visa issued and now i need to go to china for business purposes before i left for USA, is that ok ?

Hello BritSimon,
My case number is 2019EU29***.
On April 1 2019, I sent supporting documents to [email protected] without being asked by KCC (I have not received any official request to send my documents so far). Yesterday, I sent an email in which I asked whether they were satisfied with my documents. Also yesterday, I received a very long response from KCC which was almost the same to the one you demonstrated here: https://britsimonsays.com/new-document-submission-procedure-update/ , but it started with
“Thank you for your inquiry.
After sending documents to [email protected], you will receive an automatic reply to your email. If there are no attachments, the auto reply explains there are no documents attached to the email. If there are attachments, the auto reply explains we received your email and are currently processing your documents. Please allow time for processing of your documents. Documents are processed in numerical order, based on lottery rank number. Once KCC has processed your documents, we will let you know if anything is missing or if we have received everything needed”
(after sending supporting documents, I received an auto-reply that they are currently processing my documents)
and later, in the email sent to me, they used the word re-submit instead of simply submit. For example,
1. “Collect and re-submit your documents promptly.”
2. “In order to continue processing your case, you must re-submit electronic copies of the required documents in .jpeg or.pdf format as attachments to [email protected].”
The other structure of their response is as shown here https://britsimonsays.com/new-document-submission-procedure-update/.
It looks like just an auto-reply to one of the most common questions they receive. However, I would like to know your opinion concerning this email. If it would be your case, would you contact them by phone now or would you wait a little bit longer?
Thank you!
April 16, 2019 at 16:55
Wait a bit longer.
April 16, 2019 at 06:51
Hi
I guess you somewhere answered such question,
however i couldnt find.
So appreciate if you can answer,or refer me to where i can find it here.
My question is as follows, im AS9xxx which is current for June interview. As part of my job i might need to travel to the US ( i have b1/b2) for few days (before the interview of course) and i concern that it might cause problems to my process or with entering the US.
Appreciate your thoughts on above
Thank you
April 16, 2019 at 09:41

Case no 2019AS6** (home country in Asia)
Hi Brit,
After we receive visas, our planned itinerary is as follows:
We are planning to travel Canada first (visiting visa) and stay at my sister’s home in Canada. Then we wish to cross the land border into USA to activate the GC. Immediately after the activation we would go back to Canada and stay there for 3 days and then we depart to our home country. Then we wish to come back to USA after 7 months as permanent residents.
Could you please tell me will it create unnecessary problems by going through Canada but without going straight to USA?
Thank you
April 17, 2019 at 01:54
No problem.

Interview appointment
Dear Brit, I have been asked to submit the documents (criminal record, birth certifiate) which I am doing today (case no 20119EU22xxx).
1. When shall I expect the interview?
2. As I am in early pregnancy, is there any problem, as I did not fill out about anything about pregnancy back then when I first applied?
Thank you in advance!!
April 17, 2019 at 01:56
1. July or August
2. No
April 19, 2019 at 17:57
I was in almost a similar situation. I was scheduled for an interview in March and my wife was pregnant and due in May. I called the local consulate to get their view on whether we stood a chance with that situation in mind and if there were additional procedures to be done during the medical test. Unfortunately the guys said I only had two options which were to reschedule the interview for when the baby was born and having all documentation including passport or go it all alone and petition for the rest of the family at a later stage. They said option 1 was tricky as there were limited visas and might not be able to get the rescheduled interview. We settled for option 2 and got the visa, going to US end of the month
April 19, 2019 at 18:19
Oh my – that was a CRAZY decision. There was no need to do that and petitioning the family later will be more expensive and take 2 years. Crazy.
April 19, 2019 at 20:19
I understand that it may sound crazy but it takes a minimum of 3 months from the time a baby is born to get everything sorted including the passport. Consulate said no interview until baby is born and well documented which would be around end of August and would not guarantee an interview then stating that they might have run out of the quotas. After taking their advice and discussing with the entire family we thought we would rather have me go than lose the whole chance completely
April 19, 2019 at 22:20
Right, but you can attend an interview and be issued while pregnant. So – the mistake was listening to the embassy who have no basis to deny someone an interview because of pregnancy.
April 16, 2019 at 17:28
Hi Simon.
My CN is included in this VB.
The email for submitting documents came out yesterday on April 15.
The next day I called KCC to be sure that they received scans.
The operator told me that they received our documents, but you will be interviewed in July.
Feelling like a backlog, my question is:
– Is it logical been included in June VB, but selected for interview in July ?
Thank you.
April 16, 2019 at 18:46
HI Xhana did they send you valid?
April 17, 2019 at 02:06
Yes, because you were late in sending the documents.
April 17, 2019 at 06:57
My number was also current for May but scans were checked on March 8 and i didn’t get my 2NL but others whose files were checked before March 1 got their invitations. Out of my own observations they interview you in your month only if scans were checked 2 months before. Like for you, to have your interview on time your scans should have been checked before 1st of April (but this is only my opinion based on some information from different forums).
April 16, 2019 at 19:38
hello britsimon on Friday send the documents that requested me send only mine, I have to send also those of my family, because I filled their ds but I said that they were not going to emigrate with me, and today they sent me an email that is illegible or missing a document I send the birth certificate, the passport and the antecedents, and I am not rendering military service and I explain them to you.

So….?
April 16, 2019 at 21:44
Hi Sir, I submitted my documents for further processing on the 6th of March but have not had any 2nl yet (CN AF21XXX ). Yesterday I sent an email to KCC for inquiries with respect to my documents, to know if they were satisfied. Apparently I didn’t add my full names and date of birth to the email. So KCC replied that no information can be released for security purposes until applicant’s full names, date of birth and complete case number are included with the inquiry.
Please sir – should I resend the email or should I just let it be?
– will it have any negetive impact on the visa interview?
April 17, 2019 at 02:29

If I was to get some freelance work in the USA after my initial entry is it ok for me to keep going backwards and forwards to my home country before my my family settles within the first 12 months?
April 17, 2019 at 02:32
Yes
April 17, 2019 at 12:36
hello brit then it is good to have filled all the ds, so do not emigrate with me, I have to send all the documents or just mine
April 17, 2019 at 23:10
Send just yours with an explanation that the derivatives will not be interviewing
April 17, 2019 at 17:09
We received our green cards under the dv lottery for 2018 about a year ago and we now live in America. Can my son (17) start his ds260 under our account even after we have immigrated?
He is still listed on our DS260 porthole online as “start application” where as ours say completed.
He did not want to immigrate when we did now he has visited he has changed his mind and wants to.
I know we can go through the i130 process but it’s more lengthy.
Thank you in advance Brit
April 17, 2019 at 23:13
No. The I-130 is the only option.
April 17, 2019 at 17:59
Dear Sir,
I’m planning to enter US on August and out on September, I have to come back to my country and do necessary arrangement for permanently back and live in US, it may take more than 6 months but for sure not less than one year, the questions:
1- Can I back to original country before getting the green card?
2- Absence from 6 month to 12 months is ok for the first time?
3- Should i fill form I-118 for the first time?
April 17, 2019 at 23:31
1 & 2 are answered in the FAQ.
3. I have never heard of that form.
April 17, 2019 at 18:54
Did KCC start to send 2NL for June interviews?
April 17, 2019 at 19:10
No, but let’s hope they start any time from today.
April 17, 2019 at 19:48
The 2NL arrives by post or email?
April 17, 2019 at 23:32
Email
April 18, 2019 at 05:49
Take it easy guys, we must wait patiently, my family’s case is for June too, thousands and hundreds of new cases were added for June to each region (compared to low amount added for May interviews) so they must be busy sending 2NLs one by one, remember that they have until April 30th, 2019 to send 2NL for June interviews, just relax.
April 18, 2019 at 07:35
Hey,
thanks for your efforts.
i have a rare case, me and my wife had our interview in april 16, everything went well, except that at the end of the interview, the consul gave us a white paper which has a highlighted document, he said that my wife’s birth certificate, has a delay in the registration of birth (born in 1995, declared in 2002), and he asked her to provide a justification for this matter.
we are really confused, and we need your opinion because it matters to us.
my questions :
1 – what is the name of the required document ? if you have no clue, what do you advise us to do ?
thank you and have a great day
note : when i check the status of our case, it says AP.
April 18, 2019 at 13:24
I cannot possibly answer. I know nothing about procedures in your country, I don’t even know what country this concerns. Speak to a knowledgeable person in your country such as a lawyer.
April 29, 2019 at 23:36
Hi sir,
My i know what your dv case status now? Still AP?
My wife same issue with birth certificate date. We still wait for 2NL.
What document you provide for that problem?
Thanks before.

April 18, 2019 at 13:58
Hi Brits, it’s me again . I wrote u a couple of days ago that I tried sending an email to KCC. I resent the email later with my complete information and kcc replied with the usual email to submit documents for further processing. The email also said if you cannot obtain a particular document, send a scanned copy or photographed copy of ur reasons why u cannot obtain that document to KCC as an attachment. For my case, I sent ( a copy of my passport biodata page, copy of birth certificate and a certificate of non conviction ) . I did send a military record cos i’ve never served in the military and didn’t send a criminal record cos i’ve never been convicted for a crime. Please my question is
– Do re submit my documents with scanned copies of reasons why I didn’t submit the two documents?
Please Sir, I need your advice.
Thanks for your time

Good day Mr. Simon,
First of all, I would like to say thanks for your blog that helps guide people through DV process.
My number is EU25xxx, and I’m currently in the US under F-1 visa. Due to my hight case number, I decide to do consular processing(in my case in Poland) instead of adjustment of status (I was fear not having enough time to do Adjustment especially in NYC). I filed DS-260 at the end of the March, as visa bulletin numbers had been low and I thought I would be current later this summer. However, recent visa bulletin (May 2019) rocked to the sky and I become current in June. I called KCC about status of my DS-260, but it is still processing. As I understood, there is no chances I will be scheduled in the June. And I need to be patient, and wait.
1) Do you think I have anything to worry about (because I submitted my DS-260 late)? Or it only influence the time when I will be scheduled for the interview?
2) Do you think Consular processing was a good choice in my situation?
3) Can I do medical exam at one of the USCIS approved doctor in the U.S. and bring sealed envelop to the interview, or I MUST to pass this exam in the Warsaw Poland?
Thanks.
April 18, 2019 at 16:41
1. Well, there are delays and backlogs this year – so you will have a nervous wait.
2. Probably not. If you were doing AOS your I-485 could already have been processing.
3. No. You have to go to Poland ahead of the appointment to have the medical in time to get the report to the embassy on the interview date. Check with the physicians in Poland about how much time you will need.
April 18, 2019 at 16:46
Do you think it will be a good to change the consular processing to the AOS, right now? If yes, do you think I have enough time to do the AOS? Or you think I should just continue my Adjustment of status?
Thanks.
April 18, 2019 at 17:24
It is really your decision. Part of the decision will be how quickly you can complete the AOS documents. You can read about the process at the link below (read the spreadsheet linked from post 1). Just so you know though, your CP interview won’t be in June, and probably not July either, so the question is how far you can get by August if you immediately switch to AOS. That, to some extent, depends on how much effort you put in…

Dear Birt,
I have Three questions:
1-Can I present a bank account statement and Form I-134, or this will complicate things?
2- Can I present more than one bank account?
3-Can I present a prepaid credit card statement as a proof of funds?
Thank you very much.
April 18, 2019 at 17:25
1. Yes you can.
2. Yes
3. You can try.
April 18, 2019 at 19:20
If my documents were approved by kcc, when the NVC status changes for transit or ready. My case number current in June and 2nd letters is start sending.
April 18, 2019 at 20:29
Dear Brit
My wife she is the main applicant and we are family of 4 members, we had prepared each documents perfectly as required. My interview will be coming month since I already received the 2NL and confirmed the appointment in local embassy also started the medical .
My question is about the interview since my wife she is the main applicant does the CO will only address his questions to her or i can answer on her behalf as she is nervous with the interview appointment and she may get hesitate to answer correctly and that hesitation was result from her English language speaking is not well and she may not understand the question to answer but again I am saying all our papers is perfect. So please show me your input about this if you don’t mind.
Once again appreciate all your efforts .
April 19, 2019 at 01:43
It varies by CO. No need to stress about it – you can both do your best.
April 19, 2019 at 00:25
Today my mom received 2NL, I don’t know if it was fast delivery because documents and DS-260 was completed and accepted on Dec 2018 (not sent too recent, they were just waiting for the case to become current)
Also SA and OC have a low amount of cases compared to EU, AS, AF (maybe that plays a huge role when scheduling interviews and more)
Anyways, so happy for my family, June 12th is the interview date, case 2019SA10XX
April 19, 2019 at 05:42
Hey Simon,
I’m not sure if you have anything on this but I’ll give it a shot –
I got into an MBA program at a top US business school. Late February, I was notified that my DS 260 form had been reviewed. Now I’m gathering the necessary documents. Do you know if I can ask KCC to speed up the process a bit? Because I want to get it done with one visa application rather than two (the second being as an international student).
Thanks a ton!

Hi,
We were scheduled for dv lottery visa interview at the US Consulate in Sydney; I checked their website for all required information regarding preparation for interview; however some lottery selectees who are attending other locations for interview mentioned that REGISTRATION is required before interview whereas I have not noticed any such step in the US Consulate website in Sydney, and I do not know what they are talking about! By the way, I visited a few US Consulates where these people are attending for their interviews and I noticed that they are different from Sydney Consulate in some steps including step 1 which indicates” Register your Appointment Online ” or similar statements. Could you please let me know what this registration is, why it is required, and if all applicants-regardless of the consulate locations they are attending- must do this registration before their respective interviews. Thanks.

Hi we entered in June 18 and will be returning to live in June 19 we are having a baby any day now but have been told of a birth certificate delay(in AUS) in order to get passport here. If we go down to the wire, can the rest of the family go and I the dv lottery winner return a week or so later for the baby? Or is there another solution? We are greasing the wheels with authorities here as much as possible but have obvious anxiety. Thank you Brit!!
April 20, 2019 at 04:00
No. There are rules about how a newborn child gets a GC. The parent must enter with the child for the first entry after the child is born. If you do that – no problem. If you don’t do that you will probably have a two year I-130 process.

Hello BritSimon
I am case number EU261XX and I sent the documents without receiving email on 27 March. Until now I haven’t received the email that my documents have been processed, but today I received email from KCC asking for further documents. Will it be wrong if I send the documents again? I am confused and sorry if this wasted your time.
April 19, 2019 at 18:29
How could it be wrong to send them again? Use some basic logic.

my case number is in 127xx and i fill the ds260 form but i reach to an area called sign and submitted application and i was ask to enter my KCC case number, passport number, and security code i did and it is not taking me to the next page why?
April 19, 2019 at 19:36
If you are male of 26 or less you probably have not reviewed the selective service information on that page. So – click the link and read – then you could submit. It really is a matter of following the instructions.

Hi, Thank you so much for all the information that you provide on here. Maybe this has been answered somewhere on the blog and I haven’t come across it yet:
1) Do you know (or is there a way to find out) what the average processing time for the DS260 is?
2) Is there a way to find out which case number currently get scheduled for interview in our region? In order to see how many of the CN that are actually current that month compared to cases that have been current in the past but got delayed are scheduled?
Thanks!
April 19, 2019 at 23:18
1. There is not an average as such, it varies on many factors.
2. I’m not 100% clear on your question. Read the FAQ, the basic questions post and recent articles where I have been discussing backlogs etc. Bottomline though – “wait and see” is the best answer.
April 19, 2019 at 23:58
Thank you so much for the quick response! My second question was phrased rather poorly, sorry about that. I’m wondering if there’s a way to see that for EU in May e.g. the interviews have been scheduled for mostly numbers 20xxx and 21xxx but also xx% of numbers below 10xxx or something like that?
April 20, 2019 at 00:06
Again, many factors go into this – embassy capacity, case readiness and so on. We know a lot of stats and data, but you cannot predict what will happen with precision.

Hi Mr Brit
Thank yu very much for your help
After receiving the 2nlter, which time is better to see the physician. Two weeks is it ok before the interview date?
April 20, 2019 at 02:53
Ask the physician how long they need.

Hello,
in my ds -260 form i mentioned that i do not have alien registration number.
however in i140 form there is a beneficiary number which is same as alien number, how can i correct my mistake in DS-260 form?
April 20, 2019 at 16:07
I only answer DV lottery questions.
April 20, 2019 at 11:01
Hello Brit, I made a mistake in the work section. Does your work require 2years Of experience or training, I answered NO, which is actually a YES. Do you think there’s a cause for concern.
April 20, 2019 at 16:07
No
April 20, 2019 at 14:06
Hi brits,
Have two kids out but not married am about to go for interview have seen people asked if they arr married n say no children also no. If i say am not married but have kids will that affect my chances i believe this all dv is all about honesty
April 20, 2019 at 16:21
It IS about honesty – so you have no choice about that. Will it affect your chance of approval – possibly – if there are concerns about your ability to support the three of you in America. I strongly suggest an I-134

April 20, 2019 at 16:24
Again????
WAIT AND SEE!
Don’t ask me this again.
April 20, 2019 at 16:35
Brit, do you think that next month Europe can be current, because of the number of 26,800 to the end is much lower density and probably a lower response rate and regardless of the backlog it seems to me that there is a chance that everyone will get an interview.
April 20, 2019 at 16:40
Could it be – yes. Will it be – I don’t know. It depends on how many of the available interview slots go to backlog cases. Even if it goes current – I would STILL urge caution. We saw AF region go current last year only to see a final limit reintroduced a month later. With the backlog, that could also happen this year as people realize they have to comply with the new document procedure. OR – significant numbers of people will miss out and KCC will just be happy to disappoint those people and focus on those who have submitted their documents.
Really – I have no idea what will happen. Nor does ANYONE else. So – wait and see….

When I completed the DS260 I was working with a company and registered as the employer but six months later I submitted my resignation and worked with another company. Do I add the new employer to the DS260 form or have a job experience certificate for the interview?
April 20, 2019 at 22:14
No need to add it to the DS260.

Hi Brits, thanks so much for ur all. It’s been a very long journey for me .I was 2018AF40xxx winner. But never went current following last year’s cut off at 39500 for AF Region
Thanks to ur bloc, i learnt that it was no harm playing the current DV even if u were a previous winner !That was how i still had to go in for DV 2019 and won a 2nd time wit case no 2019AF17xxx.
On Tuesday April 16th, i had my interview in Yaounde Cameroon. My family of 4 was approved. We picked up our visas 2 days after.
We can’t thank you enough!! Our success was greatly dependent on your bloc and reactions to the worries of fellow DV winners and subscribers.
My interview experience will be posted shortly. God bless you .
April 20, 2019 at 23:32
Nice!
April 21, 2019 at 07:45
Winning twice!!! That’s unbelievable!!!
Congrats on the approved visas for you and your family, it was a long road, huge results.
April 21, 2019 at 12:50

April 21, 2019 at 13:47

Hi
Iam a DV2019 winner
My nationality is yemeni, but my place of birth is saudi arabia,my interview appointment scheduled in june in djibouti.
1-What is the effect of the decision of the President Trump to ban on Yemen in my case?
2-How can I transfer the place of interview from Djibouti to Egypt, note that I resident in Yemen?
April 20, 2019 at 23:34
1. You are banned. You cannot overcome the ban, so you would be wasting your time and money unless there is something relevant you have not mentioned. I am basing that on your Yemeni “nationality” which is how the ban is worded. However if you were charged to Saudi Arabia, you might stand a chance – but it seems like you are Yemeni.
2. If you want to try the interview I would suggest you keep the original appointment. Changing the appointment takes cooperation between the two embassies and that creates risk. If you are determined to do that – read the FAQ for how to change.
April 21, 2019 at 00:15
Hello Brit
My case number 18xxx I submitted my documents to KCC on the 3 of April and I got an email from KCC on the 5 of April that record indicate that they received my documents so on. Do you think is possible for my case the be scheduled for interview in June?
April 21, 2019 at 00:52
Possibly. Your will be an interesting example. However it also partly depends on which embassy you are scheduled at, and whether they have enough available interview slots. So – wait and see – then let us all know.
April 21, 2019 at 12:57
I saw a case like, in Algeria someone got confirmation the begining of the month but there were no 2nl sent, do you think the visas are assigned to cases (completed etc) weeks before the VB released ?
April 21, 2019 at 13:47
Yes, they are.
