Why is there only an option to enter the DV 2021 and not 2020? I checkd the https://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ website and there is no option to enter DV 2020. Could you please explain?
Thanks
October 21, 2019 at 03:53
People entered the lottery for DV2020 a year ago. Currently the draw for DV2021 is open.

Hi simon, I have the following questions for you
1- due to browser problems I can’t test my photo on the official photo tool of the government, there is another realible site where I can upload my photo to verify if the requirements are correct? What is?
2- there are lawyers that are saying that after applying to the lottery non immigrant visas could be denied. Is this true and if it’s not true why they’re saying that?
3- when put my mail on the entry can they see my mails or the account connected to my e mail? (During interview and/or in other moments)
4- does the passport rule change something in applying for future non immigrant visas, if I don’t win the lottery?
5- am I automatically disqualified if I write something wrong or upload a wrong photo during my entry?
Thanks a lot for your attention
October 21, 2019 at 03:57
1. No.
2. It is not true.
3. No
4. No
5. Disqualified, yes. Automatic, no.

Hi Brit,
Thank your for your informative webpage and videos.
I hold a valid Australian passport but it expires June 2020. Should I get my passport renewed before I apply or if I am successful am I able to have a different passport number after the selection in May and just update the US?
Thank you 🙂
October 21, 2019 at 04:04
Apply with the unexpired passport.
October 21, 2019 at 04:04
Hi Brit, thanks so much for your recent videos. I double checked my ds-260 I filled out early May, I am aware ever since they updated the form so I am missing social media account info, additional email and phone numbers used in the passed. But I also saw a few other question in the security section of the form for instance, which they must have added to the form after I submitted it, are you aware of this? Anyways so those questions are unanswered on my form. My question, would it be time saving at the end to ask KCC to unlock my form and answer those question or no?
Thanks in advance.
October 21, 2019 at 04:05
You can choose what you think is best.
October 21, 2019 at 04:20
Any pros or cons whether to update the ds-260 form or not?

October 21, 2019 at 09:28
Hi, thanks so much for all the hard work you are doing!
I was born in Russia BUT I do not hold a Russian passport nor citizenship.
Hence my nationality is Russian right?
I am an Israeli citizen with Israeli passport, should that be specifically mentioned when asked if I hold any other nationality in the DS-260?
October 21, 2019 at 15:34
I want to rephrase the question pleaseת
in DS-260 screen “personal information 2” question: “country/region of Origin (Nationality)
If I was born in Russia but as I said I immigrated to Israel many years ago and I DO NOT hold Russian passport or citizenship.
I have only Israeli passport and citizenship.
what should I write there ? Russia or Israel?
Many thanks.
October 22, 2019 at 04:06
It’s not a trick question – if you have one citizenship – enter that.
October 22, 2019 at 03:07
You may have dual citizenships – in which case, list them both.
October 21, 2019 at 10:27

October 22, 2019 at 03:10

Dear Simon
I have been watching your videos over the past few days
I’m a Kenyan living and working in Ethiopia
I saw in one of your videos that during the selection process they check with our previous applications, so does it mean if I’ve tried for over 10 years they will go through all my applications?
October 22, 2019 at 03:12
Possibly. They have data from previous applications.
October 21, 2019 at 11:46

Hi Brit,
Have you abandoned the practice of scraping DV monthly results. I have been waiting for DV-2019 results for a long time already

Since you are waiting – how many have you scraped?

Hi Brit,
I have a question about my parents application for DV2021. I am winner for DV 2019 program, i have a visa and for two weeks i will entry to USA for the first time. Now, my parents wants to apply for 2021, and my question is should they include me on application, because its says that if child is lawful permanent resident or US citizen, do not include child to entry. I am over than 26 years old and married. Thank you
October 22, 2019 at 03:16
They do not include children over 21.
October 21, 2019 at 13:33
Hello sir
Please I have a High school degree but got two F’s in the course.will it be a problem?

October 21, 2019 at 14:37
Hi Simon, a quick one…
With regard to Police Clearance certificates, can the certificates for other countries you’ve lived in be older than 6 months if they cover the period for which you stayed there, provided you haven’t been back since the certificate was issued?
October 22, 2019 at 04:03
Yes
October 21, 2019 at 14:47
Hello Brit,
Thank you for your time and for feeding up with informations that would otherwise different to get. Thank you for keeping us posted.
My question is: I have a police clearance certificate and its validity runs March 2019 – Feb 2020. I have received an email from KCC asking for documents. So, do I get need to get another one(the most current)?. Or can ijust send what I have then get another one for the interview?. Thank you
October 21, 2019 at 23:56
Hi Simon,
I have a similar question. I just received the request for document from KCC, but I’m sure my interview isn’t going to be anytime soon. If I go ahead and submit my docs now, does that mean that I’ll need to get a new police certificate closer to the interview as well? I’ve read hearsay online about how a police certificate which expires less than 6 months after the visa interview date would result in a visa validity based on the expiry date of the certificate and not 6 months. Is there any truth to these comments? Thanks.
October 22, 2019 at 04:38
Same answer.
October 22, 2019 at 04:03
send what you have then get another one for the interview
October 21, 2019 at 14:53
Good evening Brit Simone, I need explanation on this part on the exception “unable to
obtain a passport from the government the beneficiary of
an individual waiver approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security or the Secretary of State ”
2) Which countries or persons does this rule apply to?
October 22, 2019 at 04:04
Almost no one – because you have to already have the waiver.
October 22, 2019 at 06:06
What is The Waiver ?
October 22, 2019 at 22:58
If you don’t know – it shows you are not someone that can choose this option.
October 21, 2019 at 15:39
Hi Birt,
I noticed additional requirements posted on below link concerning Presidential Proclamation on Health Care.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/Presidential-Proclamation-on-Health-Care.html
Any idea on how to present this to consular during Interview?
Thanks,
Mai
October 22, 2019 at 00:30
Hey britsimom, Could you write an article about the impact it has as there were some positive and negative weighted factors on the interim policy as it was on the travel.state.gov website.
Does that broaden the public charge area and what about medical insurance and all?
(Interview on November.)
October 22, 2019 at 04:40
When I know more, I will say more. You may have to interview without such info. In which case your feedback will be important. So – please make sure you update us.
October 22, 2019 at 04:06
As of now. No. This is new – wait.
October 21, 2019 at 16:17

October 22, 2019 at 04:07
I don’t know.
October 22, 2019 at 04:19
Your previous prediction for Africa that the cut off will start from 60,000, according to the current situation is your prediction changed or still the same?
October 22, 2019 at 04:50
Nothing changed

October 22, 2019 at 04:10
You are not being clear at all. But if a person is already deceased they are not expected to attend the interview.
October 22, 2019 at 04:09
So what is the problem?
October 22, 2019 at 08:00
I wonder wonder why the kcc list the dead child on the 2NL for the appointement.
October 22, 2019 at 23:08
Those were the details they had.

October 21, 2019 at 19:42
Hi Brit
i had a traditional marriage which is accepted and recognize in Ghana as married even though it does not have any legal backing. since it is accepted in Ghana as married, all my documents have my marital status as married. just recently a friend of mine who lives in the United State told me the traditional marriage is not recognize in USA as married and for that matter if i have intention of entering this year’s dv lottery, i should enter as unmarried. Though we are planning to register our marriage next year.
1) i am confuse here and needed your advice as to enter as married or unmarried.
October 22, 2019 at 04:22

October 21, 2019 at 21:13
Hi Simon!
I am planning on signing up to the lottery this year.
I am currently in the university with 4 semesters left for graduation and finished high school of course.
While I fill in the info, what tab to I need to pick regarding my education?
Plus, in-case of a win in the lottery and successfully finishing the process, do you have to move right away? If yes for how long?
October 22, 2019 at 04:28
Some university.
It’s a slow process.

Hi Sr,
Quick question. I forgot to write some parts of my address. Will my application be denied by that? Or can I unlock the DS 260 later?
October 22, 2019 at 04:37
PK – so you put the wrong address and wrong city of birth. Maybe this isn’t your thing.
October 22, 2019 at 00:00
Hello Brit
CN SA000003xx. Do I need to register my interview appointment in US embassy in Georgetown?
October 22, 2019 at 00:07
Yes you do. As well as take the medical exam there. I am from Suriname, and the US embassy here doesn’t do immigration processes and visas. I have to go to Guyana(George Town) for that, as well as take the Medical exams there. So the answer is yes. Visit the website of the US embassy in Guyana for more info and which Doctors you can go to to schedule an appointment, because you do need to take and do the medical exam first since you will need those documents to take with you to the interview
October 22, 2019 at 00:36
Yvankarma
I know about medical exam procedures. But I am talking about appoiment for interview in US embassy in Georgetown.
This appointment must be registered in a website?
October 22, 2019 at 02:52
yes. via the website
October 22, 2019 at 04:38
Possibly.
October 22, 2019 at 00:33
sir,
After my official bachelor degree i`ve earned a master degree by distance learning from Ireland, uk. |And in my dv 2020 first entry i`ve chosen master`s degree as my highest level of education, my q is that it is OK to chose that master even it was earned via distance from a reputable Irish college ?
October 22, 2019 at 04:41
It doesn’t matter -your education is enough. You don’t get extra GCs for a masters.
October 22, 2019 at 01:13
Hello brit,
i was randomly selected for the 2020 Dv lottery. I have 4 children who are all older than 21 years old and definitely could not be introduced in my application while i was entering the DV last year.
so my question is: i am busy with my DS-260 form now, i reached a FAMILY section where they asked about my children. i am well aware that they won’t be immigrating with me, but i would like to know if i shall mention them on my DS-260 may be for later family sponsor?
if the answer is yes, shall i thick that they will be immigrating at a later stage?
Thank you very much in advance
October 22, 2019 at 04:46
No
October 22, 2019 at 01:56

Yes – contact the embassy.
October 22, 2019 at 02:05
Hi Simon! I got selected for DV 2020 and my number is AS16XXX. I was wondering if it’s okay if I apply for DV 2021 as well? Can that have any affect on my DV 2020 application?
Thanks for taking the time to reply to all these questions. I really appreciate what you do here. Advice on the Dv lottery is hard to come by.
October 22, 2019 at 04:47
You can enter DV2021 with no problem.
October 22, 2019 at 03:53
Hi
I have a question on scheduling visa interview. After I filled DS260, I got f1 visa and came to USA. So, as the dependent of my husband (green card selectee), can I schedule my interview in USA while my husband is having his interview in home country. Could you please explain how I can get this done.
October 22, 2019 at 04:49
No
October 22, 2019 at 04:13
Hi Simon. Would spouses be disqualified if they both still submit family entries separately thus claiming each other? Wondering because technically it creates two entries for the same passport number. Thank you.
October 22, 2019 at 04:49
No problem.
October 22, 2019 at 04:34
Hi Brit,
Thank for all the information you are providing, Me and my husband apply for dv 2018 but we did not get and result so that means that we are not selected, and I apply again for dv2021 so how will we know that we are selected for the green card lottery. Thank you again for your help.

Hi Simon,
I am Natasha Perera from Sri Lanka who is a DV 2020 winner .I have received my 2NL and my interview date is on November 12th . However I do have some issues to be cleared . I have residence in Italy and Sri Lanka and I have already sent both the Police reports with other document to KCC however recently I traveled back to Italy for 2 weeks and came back . So please tell me weather I have to obtain a new police report before the interview date to present .
Second issue I am facing is the Affidavit , I do not have any sponsor therefore I am showing a cash deposit of $10,000 a month in advance to my interview date with a letter of my mother providing as a gift to me . I just want to know weather this is sufficient evidence to show that I am not a public charge .
October 22, 2019 at 23:15
1. You may need to provide a new police cert, depending on how old the existing ne is.
2. I cannot tell you with certainty. Only the CO can do that. But it would typically be acceptable.
November 13, 2019 at 05:50
hi Natasha
Did you have your Interview , Could you please share you r interview experience.
Thanks
October 22, 2019 at 09:58

Hello sir i have one question sir i have completed my high school diploma but the problem is in most of my subject i got D+ do embassy accept low grades high school graduate or is there any minimum score required please reply me i want to apply for dv lottery this year 2021
October 22, 2019 at 18:04
Hi ,
It does matter of your grades sometimes depending on the embassy and CO…but basically if you have passed high school and you have the certificate that you get on graduation then your good.
October 22, 2019 at 23:17
It varies by embassy, but generally they expect good passing grades.
