Is it wrong to Change photo background to white digitally?
October 22, 2019 at 23:18
The photos are supposed to be unedited, so it depends how well it is done. If they can see you edited the photo, they could refuse you.

Hi brit, my husband want to apply DV-2020 he is from Netherlands, but the problem he couldn’t find his university diploma nor high school degree as he left the country 30 years ago, and currently he is not working but he has a house in California usa. Do you think can apply DV-2020 without education approval or job letter? Or better we apply through me (wife) i have my high school degree and im currently working as a flight attendant.
October 22, 2019 at 18:50
Hi, im sorry i mean my husband and i want to appy DV-2021
October 22, 2019 at 23:25
First, the lottery entry period open now is for DV2021. You can BOTH apply and see who is selected. If he is selected you can see how he can meet the requirements (which can be through work experience OR education).

I have received documents from KCC to send documents.
I have not seen on the email that i should send my educational qualification documents.
1 please is the educational documents part of the civil documents?
2 should i send the education documents ?
Thank you and have patience on some of us.
October 22, 2019 at 23:28
You only send what they ask for. Nothing more, nothing less.
October 22, 2019 at 12:24
Hi, are there any questions on the interview about previous immigration history? I have once been denied entry into another country (not USA) because of not complying with my student visa requirements. I have since normally traveled the world.
October 22, 2019 at 23:29
That is not relevant.
October 22, 2019 at 13:05
Hi Brit, I’m DV2020 selectee and submitted my DS260 my question is about the foreign state chargeability , i born in SAUDI ARABIA and my nationality Egypt and my case number is 2020AS000XXX why is my case number start with AS not Africa and i’m sure that i select Egypt in the nationality question is there is something wrong or that is normal?
October 22, 2019 at 13:23
The selection is in base of the birth country , so it’s normal
October 22, 2019 at 23:52
Actually, you can breath a sigh of relief that you have an AS number. It means that you correctly chose your country of birth as SA – and because of that you are in the AS region process. If you had selected Egypt (based on residence or nationality) you would have been disqualified.
October 22, 2019 at 14:13

October 22, 2019 at 23:56

October 23, 2019 at 05:18
Thank you a lot Mr. Simon.
Best regards
October 22, 2019 at 15:12
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2020 Winner, Case 54xxx. I got the KCC email yesterday o send the documents over. I got engaged and will get married soon to a UK citizen. I have completed the DS-260 as single though. What do i do, should i send the documents now as single, or get married first and then add my husband?
Thank you
October 22, 2019 at 23:57
Get married first – ASAP – WAY before the interview. Then add your new spouse,

Hey I will be applying for my Grad school in fall for 2020, will entering the DV lottery affect my visa process later?
October 23, 2019 at 00:04
No
October 23, 2019 at 18:06
Hello Simon
Am preparing for my dvlottery 2020 interview. I need your advice on how to get my visa approved.
October 23, 2019 at 18:59
That’s a very vague question. Have you read the instructions? Have you submitted documents? What exactly are you trying to check.
October 22, 2019 at 16:26
Good evening Brit When I read the Passport 2021 FAQ on the Dv lottery site at the end of the page it says: “Simply being unable to obtain a passport does not automatically mean you
waiver of the passport requirement. ”
I did not understand can you explain us the part SVp?
October 23, 2019 at 00:06
Very simple.
YOU NEED AN UNEXPIRED PASSPORT. That’s it.
October 22, 2019 at 16:52
Brit; what’s happening with applicant entry system? it keeps saying it is experiencing technical difficulties, try later…. is it really down? it’s been like that for a few days I have been trying.
October 23, 2019 at 00:06
I don’t know.
October 22, 2019 at 16:55
Dear Simon
Good evening, i just committed a mistake with my date of birth instead of 23 Sep, it reads 03 but all other information i realises it after i have submitted it , just dont know what to do know am really worried, what should i do it wasnt that i wanted to lie about my age.
October 23, 2019 at 00:08
Where? In creating a new twitter account? Drivers license? CONTEXT!
October 22, 2019 at 16:58
Brit,
I can’t see any of my comments/questions I posted here, am I doing it right? can I send you an email to ask you the question about the entry site not working ? thx.
Mark
October 23, 2019 at 00:09
Patience. My system holds back messages for new users.
October 22, 2019 at 17:00
Ok, I can see my comments now, awaiting your response! THANKS, Mark
October 23, 2019 at 00:09
See…. patience pays.
October 23, 2019 at 14:44
Brit, thanks and yes you’re right, patience is a virtue!,
Anyhow I just need your thoughts on the entry system since you have lots of experience with it.
in your video you had no delay or issue going to the next page to review your answers and get the completion/confirmation. I just can’t get passed the first screen, it comes back that system is experiencing technical difficulties, just want to make sure that is indeed the case.
Will you be willing to test the system on your end and see if you get the same issue, then I rest my case and try a few more times till Nov 5th and be done with it.
If you agree to do it, email me at [email protected] so I can give you the info needed to file an entry, or we can be on Whatsapp talking while you input the data. I’m in US Eastern time zone, so based on your availability I’ll make myself available.
Thank you regardless of your reply. Mark
October 23, 2019 at 16:47
If you are saying you have tried everything and can reliably show me that you cannot enter the lottery.Yes I would take on that challenge. I can setup a time for an online meeting so you can show me your attempt and then I could try for you. Let me know if that’s interesting and I will book something.
October 23, 2019 at 18:00
You’re such a good soul. Impressive. Kudos, honestly.
October 22, 2019 at 19:53

I don’t understand where i should ask my question. Please assist
October 23, 2019 at 00:23
That was a question – and a wasted one at that. Make the next one more useful – I’m a busy person.
October 23, 2019 at 12:39
Haha!
October 22, 2019 at 23:39
Hi Brit,
On one of the Russian forums I have found a shared document with a list of case numbers for dv-2020 from Turkey and Russia. It is not much, but could be useful for your future predictions. You can easily see the distribution of the CNs as well. Pls let me know how can I send it to you, if interested.
Regards,
Serge
October 23, 2019 at 00:22
Thanks Serge. It doesn’t really help – in January we will get the exact data – and we already know enough to understand the holes rate etc.
October 23, 2019 at 00:40
Sure, no problem. I was mostly thinking about distribution – the numbers are pretty evenly distributed (this thing I didn’t know). OK, let’s wait for Jan data.
Regards,
Serge
October 23, 2019 at 01:44
Even distribution is exactly what you expect from a random draw….
October 23, 2019 at 13:08
Hey bud

October 23, 2019 at 00:33
Hi Brit,
For those who currently live in the US (on non immigration Visa), do we need to provide police certificate from US? In the KCC email (doc request), it is not specified, but I do remember it was mentioned on their website. Please advise.
October 23, 2019 at 00:35
No.
October 23, 2019 at 00:47
Hi Brit,
Very good morning, My friend is trying to apply for dv2021, but she has been ban for 3 years for overstaying in the US but her 3 years will be over by 2020, so can she still apply for dv 2021 lottery, and if her husband apply for dv2021 will he be disqualify for his wife’s reasons.
Thanks and patiently waiting for your answer.
Josie.

October 23, 2019 at 02:50
Hello,
Today, I received an Email to proceed to fill the DS-Entry (I applied for 2020)
I’m Ethiopian and my immigration has translated my birthdate wrong which was from an Arabic birth certificate. So I have a wrong date on passport, well it’s only 3 months off.
In my passport it is 7th July (I have filled this in my entry date and it’s basically everywhere in my Certificates)
while the Arabic is 07/07
so they basically copied it. My actual birthday date is 5th Oct
I’ll be glad if you tell me with what to proceed.
October 23, 2019 at 15:51
If your passport has an incorrect date – you need to correct that – and then enter the correct date on the DS260
October 23, 2019 at 05:18

October 23, 2019 at 10:51
Hello Mr. Simon,
I am a dv2020 selectee
I did a mistake in my eDV. I entered my 3rd name as my surname since that what I used to use while my real actual surname is my 6th name
But in my passport and all certificates the full 6 names are shown
How should I proceed in my ds260 ?
I already read FAQs and I think u mintioned I should fill the ds260 accurately and so I will but how to decrease the risk of this mistake and how serious is it?
Thanks alot
October 23, 2019 at 16:31
You are going to have to use your own judgement. Yes – the DS260 should be accurate (matching the passport/birth cert). However there may not be space for 6 names.
October 26, 2019 at 11:15
Thank u very much
I just need a little guidance if it’s not a trouble
1. firstly, in the ds260, I should enter my 3rd name (which is previously entered as surname in eDV), as a middle name along with my 2nd,4th and 5th names or untill there is no space left
then I enter my 6th name as my surname (I never entered it before)., Is this right?
2. secondly, on sending the documents how should I name them 1st_3rd names (as in the winning letter) or 1st_6th name (as the true 1st_last names) ?
3. is this a serious mistake that could get me disqualified or it can be fixed?
Thanks again for your patience and your time to answer, much appreciated.
October 26, 2019 at 20:33
Your DS260 should have your full legal name, and use the section for other names used.
October 23, 2019 at 15:56
No. You copy your confirmation details.
October 23, 2019 at 07:27
Hi Simon,
I am trying a second time to enter dvlotery . I did in 2019/20 but never got a chance. So, I am trying again but I need help on how to answer the marital status question correctly:
I am mom of two and have been a part from who would be my husband for now 7 full years. When he immigrated to the USA in 2014 he left us out and declared his marital status as single with no children.
Now, I am struggling with my two daughters to find a better future for them but the problem is that I still legally married and my names still appear in marriage registry in my country as married, not legally separated nor divorced. What should I write as my marriage status? The man found his new life and has someone with children already.
Should I ask for a divorce from some one who already told the US government that he is single or …. I am perplexed.
Kindly, advice, Simon.
Thank you very much.
October 23, 2019 at 16:01
You are married – and must answer questions truthfully. If your husband is already a GC holder you can complete the entry as married – but without your spouse’s details (as he is an LPR). However, I would suggest you divorce to get a simpler position. If your husband is found to have committed fraud to get his GC, then he could be deported.
October 23, 2019 at 07:37
Hello BritSimon, I have two questions:
– My oldest stepson is 21 years old and is finishing his studies this june 2020. Do i put him in the listening of Children or is he too old (Over 21)? Also, Applying by himself, does he put what he currently has as educational level or what he will get by june 2020?
– My stepdaughter is 18 years old. She has her Baccalaureate (Final exam in France after High school) and started her University education (college education for the USA i believe) this September 2019. Is she eligible to apply by herself at the DV Lottery as she has a minimum required of High Level education?
Thank you for your help
October 23, 2019 at 16:03
1. No you do not list your 21 year old child. He enters his education level as of the date of entry.
2. She can enter.
October 24, 2019 at 09:39
Thank you for that, Simon. So, as soon as our kids reach 21 years of age, we don’t put them anymore on the list of our kids?
October 24, 2019 at 16:08
On the entry, correct.
October 23, 2019 at 07:54
Hi Brit!
Is “military records” mean; the certificate which is given to people who only served in the military? or it means; the status of military service for each person, if he served or exempted..
October 23, 2019 at 16:04
the status of military service for each person, if he served or exempted
October 23, 2019 at 08:26
Hi Simon,
In 2007 and 2008 I used to live n Republic of Ireland. I am Romanian and I was wondering if it would be necessary to ask for my certificate for criminal record from this country, as well.
Thank you for your efforts!
Have a good one!
October 23, 2019 at 16:08
Yes
October 23, 2019 at 10:58
Hi Simon
Please how do I correct an error of applying through an agent and how do I confirm that the details submitted are accurate
Thank you
October 23, 2019 at 16:32
1. Stop using agents.
2. You can’t.
October 23, 2019 at 11:02

October 23, 2019 at 16:32
Each person should only enter one time.
October 24, 2019 at 09:12
So what will happen?
October 24, 2019 at 16:05
Disqualification.
October 23, 2019 at 12:26
Hello Brit.
I got issued with US Visa 3 months under Diversity Visa (DV Lottery). I had my flight on September but when I was getting my stuff ready I noticed that somebody had ripped off my visa from my passport. I don’t know who did it or when it was done during the last 15 days or so(Whoever did it they ripped the whole page and I no longer have it). I went to the Embassy told them what happened and they asked me a couple of times. I got a police report for a damaged passport on 16 September, got the new passport out immediately but yesterday I got an email from the Embassy that my visa was refused (under 221(g)) because 30th of September has passed and they couldn’t release a new visa which it doesn’t make sense to me cause I already have my visa released (I just need a reprint on my new passport). They also told me that I did not send all the required legal documents which is weird because they told the police report for damaged visa was ok and I sent them the document the same day they asked me to(16 September).
Is there anything I can do cause this whole situation is destroying my nerves?
Thanks in advance!
October 23, 2019 at 16:42
Their answer doesn’t make a lot of sense – possibly they misunderstood – but you need to discuss it with them. Make it clear you are only asking for a reprint – not a new visa.
October 26, 2019 at 11:33
Hi Brit. I did and this is the answer I keep getting.
“Dear Applicant,
The DV-2019 Diversity Visa Program has been completed and no more visas can be issued or reprinted.”
I still don’t understand, I know they can reprint my visa anytime(I mean smth could have happened let’s say November I lose my bag or smth and just like that it’s gone I don’t think so).
October 26, 2019 at 20:35
I said DISCUSS it with them. But look, it sounds like contacting KCC might be your only last chance. Do that.
October 23, 2019 at 21:12
Oh my God! This is terrible. The heart of man is wicked. Who on earth would do a thing like this? And still walk around w a clear conscience. Karma is definitely a bitch, don’t worry she’ll always come around. Meanwhile, try to do as Brit has instructed and I really pray all goes well. Stay positive.
October 23, 2019 at 13:10
Hello Brit,
I put my father’s name as my middle name in both the entry and the ds260. I’m not sure if this is right or wrong. Will this affect the process? If yes, what should I do? Should I send an unlock request to the KCC to modify it in the DS260 or should I ask the consular to change it during the interview?
Thank you
October 23, 2019 at 16:55
If it is a part of your name (as shown on the passport) then no problem. If not – unlock and correct your DS260.
October 23, 2019 at 13:37
Hi Brit,
I am From the Gambia and i’m trying to apply for the DV2021. I want to ask you 2 questions. Firstly, I cannot see my country (The Gambia) on the list of countries under “Country you where Born” and “Country/Authority of Issuance”. So since Senegal is there and it is a neighboring country, Can I select it. Secondly my password will expire on the 09 February 2021, I’m i Qualified to apply base on the new passport rule.
Thank you and hoping to hear from you soon.
October 23, 2019 at 17:03
I think you need to look harder. It is listed just under Thailand.
October 24, 2019 at 09:53
Thank you I saw it. How about the passport expiring in Feb 2021, I want to know my eligibility base on the new passport rule.
Thank in advance.
October 24, 2019 at 16:09
They ask for an unexpired passport. That means unexpired on the day you enter the lottery.
October 23, 2019 at 13:58
Hi Brit I submitted documents in October 18 but i m not give the file name like police certificate ,passport and birth certificate its have problem tank you for your help
October 23, 2019 at 17:04
As long as the documents you provided were complete, the naming convention won’t matter.
October 23, 2019 at 15:05
Hi Brit, please I misplaced the original copy of my daughter’s birth certificate certificate that I submitted to NVC, now our interview comes up next week. Please what do I do?
October 23, 2019 at 16:44
Get a replacement.
October 23, 2019 at 15:11
Hello britsimon greeting,
I m dv selectee 2020 my case number is AS73**
I m planning to get married
She is nursing final year student her class will start from next month (1 year remaining)
My question is
If i unlock my Ds260 and enter spouse details we will have interview together, if we get visa, is it possible to postponed her departure until her classes getting over?
I m asking this because i dont want to go for other immigration process as they are costly and lengthy
Can you please share your opinion in my case? Hi
October 23, 2019 at 17:14
So marry ASAP, then delay submission of your DS260 OR documents to ensure an interview around July/August next year. You would then have up to 6 months after the medical to enter the USA.
October 23, 2019 at 16:07
Hello Brit. I m a 2020 DV winner with case number AS74XX. I have boyfriend, we want to move to USA together. But In my country, marriage before age 20 is not valid and I m gonna be age of 20 and get married only on April 25, 2020. I m planning to submit asked documents after marriage only to include my husband. Will my case get time to be processed by KCC at that time?? Or Suggest me the safe and best way to include him at the interview time.
October 23, 2019 at 17:27
Yes you will be able to submit DS260 and documents after April 25 and still get an interview in time.
October 23, 2019 at 16:26
Hi,
1. Whats the newest annual income for families including the sponsor’s and GC winner’s based on poverty guidelines for 2020?
2. Do we need to present the transcripts of grades of high school or BSc degree, The so called List of Grades or only the Diploma supplement?
October 23, 2019 at 17:21
1. Did google break?
2. If in doubt, take both.
October 23, 2019 at 16:53
Hi, i had a interview but the consular officer need some additinal document join sponsor which i was told to upload to Ceac , is this possible ?? There is no option !!!
October 23, 2019 at 17:20
No – you would provide any documents to the embassy.
October 23, 2019 at 17:34
Dear Brit, sorry for repeating the question, just cannot stop thinking.
In my passport in native language it is written Name, Father’s Name, Surname.
In English part it is Name Surname, so in DV lottery initial entry I provided name and surname, also the same way in ds-260. All my documents that are in my native language contain my patronymic name. As I already wrote I submitted the docs, and KCC replied that Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 etc. I am current in December VB.
Should I worry about that???? Or do something?
Thank you Sir, I am very sorry for taking your time.
October 23, 2019 at 18:47
Hi Simon, I am applying for the dv lottery and my question is : do I have to put my maiden name or my married name as my last name ? I am asking because on my passport in France my maiden name appears first.
Thank you

Your legal name. Maiden names can be added in the other names used section.

HI Simon, I just signed up for the dv lottery and get the confirmation number. The problem is I forgot to save the number so I tried to retrieve it on the website by putting my names and birth of date etc. I put all information correctly but I kept getting “the information entered is not valid”.
I tried it so many times but nothing worked.
I thought I should apply again but I know a person who signed up more than once will be automatically detected and excluded.
So my question is Do I need the confirmation number to proceed the process of applying a green card? or would I be notified via a physical letter if I win so I can apply it without confirmation number?
Thank you

Dear Mr. Britain,
I have a question regarding to place or residence in US. So, if I don’t have anybody in the USA, shell I rent the house or engage the immigrant lawyer to assist me and my family? Second, if you are selected and quit the process for some reason, would be penalized?
Thank you,
Zlatko

You do not need a lawyer, this is a simple process. But you do have to give an address in the USA where you can have your Green Card sent. It should be someone you know, or a trustworthy friend of a friend.
For your second question – no.
