Is the stimulus check sent during corona a public charge?
August 15, 2020 at 04:02
No
August 15, 2020 at 01:25
Hello, BS. Hope you’re well and happy.
Is a DV lottery winner able to change the address to which their green card will be sent once the form noting the address has already been submitted (I think it’s the DS-260 form)?
I am allowing my friend to use my address but may be moving before the green card arrives.
August 15, 2020 at 04:03
You can change at the interview, and then one more chance at the POE.
August 15, 2020 at 05:15
Point of entry? You mean after they win and get their plane ticket and land in the US?
August 15, 2020 at 14:04
Yes
August 15, 2020 at 05:33
Hi Brit I am a winner of DV 2021 and I have the case number 2021SA29Xx and I already got the mail asking me to send the documents. My question is should I send the documents as soon as possible? Is it a good sign that I got the mail? Is my case number high? When do you think I could have the interview? Thank you for answering my questions
August 15, 2020 at 14:08
Your case number is quite high, so sending documents now would be too soon – and won’t make your case get interviewed any sooner. So – wait a few months.

I am a DV winner from Ghana and currently the US embassy is closed in my country. I submitted my DS 260 form on the 17th June 2020. Yet to hear from KCC. Do we have to wait for our embassy to reopen before we start receiving any update from KCC.
August 15, 2020 at 04:03
No.
August 15, 2020 at 04:45

Greetings, I was selected for the dv lottery 2020 and my case number is 2020AF00023***, I wish to know if my number is too in my intervew is March 17 8:00pm and so if the is a chance for me
August 15, 2020 at 14:04
You are blocked by the immigrant ban. If the ban is successfully challenged, there may be a chance to have your interview re-arranged. Read my recent articles about the ban.
August 15, 2020 at 05:28
Hi Brit,
I’m a 2020DV winner case number 2021AF10XXX
1. Are my chances high or low?
2. I’m still working on some documentation, around which month should I submit my DS260 so that again I’m not late?
Thanks.
August 15, 2020 at 14:06
1. It’s not your “chances” – you are asking about – that depends on your case – and I know nothing about your case. But your number is low.
2. You can submit now – or wait until about March/April
August 15, 2020 at 22:04
Hi BritSimon,
My case number is 2020AF17582 from Liberia, went for interview 25th February 2020
9:00 am, put on administration processing, got an appointment letter to carry civil documents 23th April 2020 when the first ban were made. Should I carry my two police clearance because the one I submitted to KCC expired December the one i
renew that’s what I gave the concilor?
August 16, 2020 at 14:31
If you have not yet submitted the police clearance certificates you should send them to the embassy asap.
August 15, 2020 at 07:52
Hello Simon! I was arrested once in a plane due to suspective terrorism and released after a lengthy investigation that lasted 3 hours. My PC however was taken for further investigation and returned a week later.
No evidence of terrorism-related activity was found. My father is a DV-2021 winner. Does this render me eniligible for a visa? I don’t think this is relevant, but I was never imprisoned nor handcuffed.
August 15, 2020 at 14:12
Imagine if everyone asks every question twice. That would waste my time wouldn’t it.

Hi Brit. I’m Dv 2021 winner from Ethiopia. Embassy is not working temporarily plus I already sent the ds260 for one of questions it says can you show vaccination document as ‘yes’. Based on this
1. when I have to take medical ?
2. my case number around 11,000, so how do you see this meaning is it small case number?
thank you
August 15, 2020 at 15:28
1. After you receive your 2NL for the interview.
2. Yes
Please read the guides and articles I have written already.
August 15, 2020 at 19:41
OK thanks a lot.
One more question.
1. Do I need to send my documents to KCC. Note: I haven’t received email notification yet.
August 16, 2020 at 13:36
Wait until they ask you.
August 15, 2020 at 09:51
Hi Brit,
what do you think are the chances for a second draw in DV2021 (e.g. because of a low number of selectees, or people may decide to not go forward in the process due to the current situation)? I have read your FAQ regarding that question, but maybe you have some new indications by now.
Thank you and best regards
August 15, 2020 at 15:29
Slim to none.
August 15, 2020 at 21:20
Hello, could someone explain why the timing of submitting ds260 is crucial? I must miss something. Im a 2021 winner with quite high case number but already sent the form to KCC. I understand the process but cant get why there are questions about the timing. Thanks

August 15, 2020 at 11:35
Hi Simon..thanks for the great work u are doing.
I filled my ds260 last month..I work in adifferent country in a US military base. We are not allowed to use smart phones, our company have us the small phones and I forgot to write the phone number though I rarely use it. Is it ok if I can email kcc to open my case and write that number or I can leave it like that..
August 15, 2020 at 15:31
I would unlock and add it.
August 15, 2020 at 11:44
Hi brit,
Will there be any harm caused if I decide to send my ds260 forms even when my case number is high?
August 15, 2020 at 15:31
No
August 15, 2020 at 13:08

hello britsimon hope you are fine.hahaha our friend ISAAC Is more than ready
August 15, 2020 at 14:37
Hello Mr. Simon!
My passport expires on 27th of February 2021, which will certainly be less than 8 months of my visa issuance date (hopefully) since interviews start in October and now I am filling form DS-260, so I got some questions:
1. What do you recommend, renewing my passport and using the new passport data, or proceeding with my current passport and renewing it upon the CO’s request?
2. If I run into such a problem and the CO asks to renew my passport, do I have to attend another interview after all scheduled interviews are done, or do I just provide the new passport to the embassy without going through another queue of interviews?
3. (Not related) whose info should I write in this page, the info of the applicant to whom this form belongs or the info of the one who filled the form on their behalf (me)?
August 15, 2020 at 16:10
1. Depends on your case number.
2. You will be renewing your passport anyway – that is certain. The only question is whether to submit with the old passport, or whether to wait.
3. Make your question clear.
August 15, 2020 at 17:09
Sorry I missed some details. My case number is 2021AF00031XXX. This is the form I am referring to in Q3: https://i.stack.imgur.com/MMD3X.png.
August 15, 2020 at 17:34
So with that case number you may as well renew your passport now and then submit.
On the form your case number, the applicants passport number.
August 15, 2020 at 18:09
Hi Brit ,my case number is 2021AF00007756 ,I first summited my form DS- 260 on 1st of July, but resubmitted again on 7th July, after correcting it, please do you think that is why I h ave not revive a mail from KCC for my documents or is my case number too high,? Because it’s more than a month
August 16, 2020 at 13:32
You just need to be patient.
August 16, 2020 at 00:21
Dear Mr.Brit , first I would like to thank you for your support . My situation is I am winning DV 2020 and I am already have dv visa valid till 28 of August and i planned to travel from my country Egypt to JFK international airport by direct flight at 26 of August . I have 4 questions :
1- is it required for PCR test ?
2- how long time for quarantine when I arrived New York ?
3- is there any problem If I return to Egypt to finalize my personal issues after 2 weeks from arriving New York ( at 10 September ) ?
4- regarding to green card fees (220 $) should I pay it before arriving USA or can I pay it after arriving ?
August 16, 2020 at 14:50
1. I have no idea what you mean.
2. I suggest you google that.
3. No
4. Either way.
August 16, 2020 at 01:25
Hello,
Wondering if you could help?
I have submitted all my documents as required to the KCC. However have just received an email from them indicating my Passport requirements have not been met.
Have you heard of this before? I have sent photocopies of the biographical page (Australian Passport) of both my husband and my passport, however this does not seem to suffice?
My only thought would be that my passport is under my married name, whilst my initial application is under my maiden name. However all marriage certificates etc have been provided to show name change. Do you think that could be the case? I just can’t think of any other issue with our passport documents?
thanks for your help!
August 16, 2020 at 14:52
Yes it has happened before, but the reasons can vary. Check the files you sent – make sure you have nothing confused. If you can’t figure it out, call KCC.
August 16, 2020 at 07:08
Hello Brit,
I hope you are doing well sir,
My wife is a winner of DV 2021 and cn number is AS68xx
KCC has send an email to submit documents,
I have few questions on submitting documents.
1, My wife has a new citizenship card number provided in lieu of an old citizenship card due to documents lost in some part of government offices in Nepal. She has a new citizenship number on her passport and birth certificates of all our children. But old citizenship card number was registered on our marriage certificate. My question is, while sending a marriage certificate to KCC, should I also attached new a citizenship card along with other documents. On new citizenship card, it has mentioned that “this is issued in lieu of the citizenship certificate no XXXXX, issued on the date XX/XX/XXXX from district administration office”.
2, What should I mentioned in email for an additional documents attached.
3, Is this AS 68XX, high or low
Thank you.
August 16, 2020 at 14:57
1. Use your own judgement.
2. Use your own judgement to explain.
3. Quite low.
August 16, 2020 at 09:06
#Mekonnen Tell your CN number first to brit, wait for a response from KCC, no need to rush
August 16, 2020 at 11:36
Hello brit
Iam much warried about my case, and still hoping the best, fingers closed
August 16, 2020 at 13:52
Dear brit,
I received a letter to register in my bachelor degree on aug 18th. I have submitted my ds 260 on july 11th.
After registering to the degree, should I have to unlock my ds 260 ? If I didn’t unlock and update it is that wrong?
August 16, 2020 at 15:53
No problem, no need to update.
August 16, 2020 at 16:55
Hello Brit. I am Cuban and I have beenselect for the 20121 lottery and your blog has helpedme a lot.
August 16, 2020 at 17:00
I am compiling all the documentation to complet form DS260. I would like you to clarify a question for me. I have a son with my husband who was included in the lottery entry form. He has two children from a previous marriage who were not included as they are permanent legal residents in the USA. My question is should we list them in the DS260 or not?
August 17, 2020 at 13:51
You can list them if you wish – its a choice.
August 16, 2020 at 18:01
Hi brit, how are you?
Brit, I received the sending email on Friday.
The KCC asked me to submit proof of the passport that I played at the Visa lottery.
My concern is therefore the following, the copy of the passport I played at the Visa lottery (lost passport) is not in color but it’s black white.
I plan to scan this copy in black white and send with all the documents.
1- I would like to know if the fact that the passport copy is not in color but in black white is a problem?
2- I would like to know if I must also attach the passport’s loss declaration among the documents to be sent? (More specifically, include it in the PDF file of the black white copy of the lost passport).
Thank you in advance for your answer. May God bless my brother.
August 17, 2020 at 13:52
1, no problem.
2. INclude that.
August 17, 2020 at 00:47
Hi Brit, another question
Primary occupation is the same as current occupation
August 17, 2020 at 13:56
Primary means MAIN.
August 17, 2020 at 05:16
Dearbrit ,
I got a message from aviva slesin telling me that they help only the people who stay already in USA.
And not the people outside USA and this comes after I reapplied the lotter .
I have read many comets about people, I anderstan that all of them are outside USA
Plz Brit anstand me this??
August 17, 2020 at 13:59
Aviva Slesin is not offering “help” in any way – It is for a documentary film about previous DV winners.
August 17, 2020 at 20:02
Thank you sir for this information now I can wait hopefull inshallah soon good news
August 17, 2020 at 09:30
Hi Mr.Simon,
First I would like to thank you for your invaluable time.
I just noticed someone on my applicant list has very different DOBs on the passport and birth certificates, with the correct DOB on the birth certificate. The two dates are completely different (different day, different month, different year with a 3 year difference). When first applying for the DV program I wrote down everything exactly as written on the passport. Since I nevertheless have to renew their passport I am thinking of asking for a correction to the DOB on it such that it matches the birth certificate. Does this render me ineligible for the visa, provided that I will take both passports (the old and the new one) to the interview?
In the question that reads “Have you ever used other names (i.e., maiden, religious, professional, alias, etc.)?” should I include nicknames I have used for online accounts (games, forums, etc…)?
August 17, 2020 at 14:01
Since the problem is on a derivative, it should not cause a problem.
Nicknames – if used commonly.
August 17, 2020 at 18:23
I am never called nor known in real life by those names; they are only used online. Do I still have to include them?
August 18, 2020 at 02:16
You can decide.
August 17, 2020 at 10:36
Hello Brit,
I hope you are doing well sir.
I have a question related to USCIS, more precisely related to their financial situation. They asked the Congress for $ 1.2 billion in emergency funding. If this aid is not granted, can diversity visa lottery winners be affected as well?
Thank you so much !
August 17, 2020 at 14:01
It does not affect DV
August 17, 2020 at 13:14
hey BS!
I’m a greencard lottery winner 2021 just one question!
because of the Presidential Proclamation about getting the visa before Sept.30 does it mean if I dont get my interview by then will I not be able to get my Visa?
Have a good day! Thank you In advance.
August 17, 2020 at 14:02
DV2021 winners have to get approved by September 30 2021. That is normal.
August 17, 2020 at 13:15
Dear Simon,
My case number is DV2021AS31XX. If i understand the concept of case number correctly, my case number is low and i have chance to get interviewed by January according to previous year VBs. Is it a good idea to delay submission of DS260 forms as i cannot decide to choose an interview location at the moment (due to travel restrictions)
August 17, 2020 at 14:04
You can do that – read the FAQ
August 17, 2020 at 13:41
hey brit!
I know you will tell me you can’t know until you see the the bulletin , but because of the bans and proclamation do you think there would be a second draw for the 2021?
what is your prediction , you are very wise i’d like to know 🙂
August 17, 2020 at 14:04
You know the answer already.
August 17, 2020 at 15:08
Hello Brit,
i was wondering when we will have final list of winners for DV 2021 and what time Visa Bulletin for September will be released?
Thank you!
August 17, 2020 at 16:02
Within the next day or two.
August 17, 2020 at 19:02
Hi Brit Simon,
Your website is extremely helpful so firstly i wanted to thank you for all the time and effort that you put into it.
I am 2021OC0000083X. I submitted my DS260 last week and have been asked to submit my documents. I would like to wait to do this as I want to move to the US as late as possible. My questions for you are:
1) Is there a deadline for submitting my documents? Does it need to be done within a certain timeframe after submitting my DS260?
2) Knowing my case number, when do you think would be the latest date I could send in my forms but still get an interview booked in? I need to get have my interview at the embassy in London.
Thanks very much for your help.
Best wishes,
Caitlin
August 18, 2020 at 02:17
Please read the FAQ.
August 18, 2020 at 03:38
Hi Brit, Greeting from Srilanka.. Im a DV 2021 winner and i already filled n submitted ds 260 form. In that form as we have to include a permanent address to post our GC we gave my husband’s friends’s home address who lives in NY… earlier we decided to go to NY n settle but now our plans changed. We are planning to go to NJ where my czn stays.. Bt i ddn’t tell her about my lottery win until i get visa approved ( as we can’t predict future too early). I don’t know her address at the moment and i can’t a sk for the address as she will need to know the reason.
one of my friends who was a previous winner of dv lottery told, change of address will not matter as when we go to USA, in airport, we get a document set to fill and there we can inform any address change for GC postal address…
is it true?? Please share your thoughts with me
August 18, 2020 at 16:22
You should plan to update the address at the interview, or as a last chance during your initial entry to the USA. Once you have entered they will use the address they have on file and send the GC there.
August 18, 2020 at 07:14
Hello again, I made a mistake in my previous comment with the DV number/year.
I was selected for DV-2020 and I am waiting for being interviewed. I filled the DS-260 document and I sent all the requested email by email, as they asked me to do. I sent several emails to [email protected]. That happened in November/December, 2019. I haven’t hear from them yet. Instead of that, they sent me generic responses with general info abut the situation.
I sent several email becase when I check my application status, I get the following message:
INMIGRAT VISA APPLICATION
At NVC
Please follow the instructions you received from the NVC that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms, and documents. Once NVC has received all the required items, they will let you know if anything is missing or incomplete (…)
I wondered If everything is OK and they got everything from me. I also tried to ask my questions by this form: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html but I am not able to send it because it says that my case number is incorrect.
Could you help me out with it, please? Thanks so much in advance 🙂
Best,
Elena.
August 18, 2020 at 16:21
Your case cannot be processed because of the bans enforced. THere are plenty of recent articles on my site you can read to understand that, and how the bans are being fought.
August 18, 2020 at 08:10
Hi Brit, my Birth place on passport and birth certificate is different in a way that the one on the passport is old name of the place whereas on birth certificate it is new name for the place. Which one should i use for DS260 form?
August 18, 2020 at 16:19
Either one. Choose.
August 18, 2020 at 10:01
Mr. Bithsimon:
My wife is a selectee of DV 2021. We are about to complete the DS-260. There is a question that says:
Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccination in accordance with US law? Presently, I have not neither do I have documentation that I have received vaccination. With this kindly advise me, should I say:
1. Yes , since indeed I have to do my medical before interview?
2. No, since indeed I have not taken vaccination except when I was a child neither do I have documentation:
Kindly advise me here.
Thank you for the reception and I look forward to hearing from you:
Best regards.
Max
August 18, 2020 at 16:19
In my guide about filling in the DS260 I suggest you answer “no” as you will have missing vaccinations at the medical exam.
August 18, 2020 at 10:19
Hello Brit , thank’s for your job. Can you tell us some news about today’s hearings ?
August 18, 2020 at 16:18
No – I am travelling today, but the hearing today is not significant.
August 18, 2020 at 10:30
The final list of dv2021 winners?
Are the results of DV lottery not published once?
August 18, 2020 at 16:17
Patience.
August 18, 2020 at 11:56
Hi Brit,
I’m extremely grateful for all the information here in your website.
I’m moving along the process with confidence thanks to you and all the information your are publishing.

If this interests you, please email me (leaving my email hidden in the comment details so I want get spammed).

August 18, 2020 at 16:16
I offer help through this website.
August 18, 2020 at 13:18
Hello do I need to include telegram, WhatsApp and wechat in social media question?
August 18, 2020 at 16:15
If in doubt, include them.
August 18, 2020 at 13:45
When I fill and signed my DV form, my two 16-year-old twin sons were doing their mandatory military service in Cuba and I couldn’t add them because I didn’t have proper or updated photos. I have documents that prove they were in their military service. Still, could they disqualify me if I include them right now?
August 18, 2020 at 16:15
If you mean you missed them from the original entry, yes you will be disqualified.
August 18, 2020 at 13:50
hi Mr simon; is there any change in ds260’s expiration date for dv 2020 ? i found 04-30-2022; and if this change is true, is there any chance to extend the dv 2020’s delay ? thank you so much.
August 18, 2020 at 16:14
THat is simply about the version of the form – no other significance.
August 18, 2020 at 17:29
Hello Uncle BritSimon
I am little confused about some issues,
It’s about my Son’s DS260 who was born recently.
According to the situation of my country these times I still couldn’t get passport for him and this will be like for these following months.
So if I want to complete the DS260 form of him these days,
What should I do for the section of passport information??
Could I put mine/myWife Passport Information instead?
My Regards
August 20, 2020 at 04:55
Yes you can start by using one of the parents passport numbers, but it is usually better to wait until you have the passport.
August 18, 2020 at 19:13
Hi BS
I am a winner from Ghana and my Case Number is 2020AF000609xx. I I already sent my police record and other details reguested by KCC.
1. What are my chances?
2. If i am already in the states and my spouse is in Ghana, Can we both be interviewed separately at different places or we have to be in our home country
August 20, 2020 at 04:58
1. This all depends on the immigrant ban, and the lawsuit currently being fought. I suggest you take a look at some of my recent posts and videos to understand that better.
2. If you were processing by Adjustment of Status you could have progressed that way and had a Follow to Join process later. But since you are even asking this – I suspect that you had decided not tgo do AOS for some reason – which is a shame. And now, it is probably too late to start – but why did you decide that?
August 18, 2020 at 20:07
Hi Brit ,
Sir , do i need to translate the police certificate to English. ??
August 20, 2020 at 04:58
Read the instructions.
August 18, 2020 at 22:52
Hello Brit. My case number is 2021SA10XX. How do you consider this number because I think the difference is wide between the visa bulletin of 2019 and 2020
August 20, 2020 at 05:01
Not a bad number.
August 19, 2020 at 02:01
Hello
DV2020 winner and had attended interview at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on May. CO approved our visa interview and told us to collect our documents upon receiving an email notification from DHL. but days later, i had a call and was informed that we (only my wife and I) were needed for further interview and rescheduled. Again days later, i was informed that our interview was postponed until further notice. We have not heard since then. Is there any chance that they will finish what is already in their hand even after Sep 30? Please help me claify this and other things. Thank you
August 20, 2020 at 05:06
Please take a look at the articles I have published recently about the lawsuit that is challenging the ban. If that succeeds, you might get a chance.
August 19, 2020 at 05:04
Hi Simon
I chose no for the following question in ds260 form, but I don’t no how to explain my answer
( do you have docs to establish that you’ve received the U.S vaccines ? )

There is NO information about that, because that has not been suggested.

Hi Brit, I hope you are in good health and all your people. Thank you for the great guidance here. My question is, can I use three addresses for different purposes each ie sponsor in Boston, GC in Dallas and arrival in Chicago? Thank you

Hello Brit. I’m dv 2021 selectee with CN AF6XXX my question is do I need to fill and submit ds5540 to the interview?
August 20, 2020 at 05:09
Currently, no – but it would not harm to have one ready just in case.

Thanks very much Brit

Hi Brit. Are you saying that currently DS 5440 is not necessary to a interview and won’t be requested?
August 20, 2020 at 14:22
I am saying certain aspects of it have been removed, but I suggest people complete it for the interview anyway.
