Hi Brit.
I need some explanations about the sponsor.
1.my uncle’s friend can be my sponsor?
2.if yes he wanna send her wife too ,is it can cause a problem to me.
Please help me.
September 27, 2017 at 14:22
This is the THIRD TIME you have asked about your uncle’s friend. It’s frustrating that you keep asking without listening to the answers.
The wife question is new. I’m not sure whose wife we are talking about, but you are only allowed to take YOUR wife.
September 27, 2017 at 16:44
Hello Brit
in the ds 260 to the question what do you want to do in the united states. Me I put

Thank you for your reply.
September 27, 2017 at 17:40
It’s not a problem.
September 27, 2017 at 17:30

I am checking case status its giving me invalid case number do u know y
And how i will know my case is sent to embassy

September 27, 2017 at 17:49
If your DS260 says COMPLETED, then KCC have it. Now you just need to be patient.
September 27, 2017 at 17:34
Hi Brit I have two question.
1-) is it really easy to conduct I-134 form without interpreter or preparer ?
2-) what if we don’t use interpreter nor preparer are we going to write nothing about them on related parts ?
Thank you so much
September 27, 2017 at 17:48
1. Yes. Your sponsor fills it in anyway.
2. You won’t mention anyone NOT involved with filling in the form. Like me. Don’t mention me either.
September 28, 2017 at 05:57
LOL ?
September 27, 2017 at 17:34
Hello sir,
I was unlocked my form and i was completed it,i need to mail KCC?it was completed or dont need mail them?
September 27, 2017 at 17:47
No need to email
September 27, 2017 at 18:49

September 27, 2017 at 19:00
Normally no problem.
September 27, 2017 at 23:01
Hello! again I ask again, I am Spanish and DV2018 I am reading all the FAQs, but I have doubts:
1. What is an infopass? Is it the same as the interview?
2. What is biometric?
I feel my ignorance 🙁
Thanks in advance
September 28, 2017 at 01:01
1. Infopass is an appointment you can make at the field office (FO) to discuss progress about your case.
2. Fingerprints, photos etc.
September 28, 2017 at 01:16
Hello, Mr Brit
I won dv lottery 2018, my number is 34xxx I’m from libya but I’m in US since 2015 as student up to now,, my question is Trump resolution about 8 countries are not allowed to enter US is gonna effect my case or not ? Thank you
September 28, 2017 at 02:57
No – because you are already here. So – process adjustment of status.
September 28, 2017 at 14:46
Sorry another question, do i need to do adjustments of state now or when my number become current.
Thank you
September 28, 2017 at 15:51
You have to wait until your number is announced as current.
The thread below gives information on AOS

Hi BritSimon,
We have just visited the US to activate our Green Cards – We had to be in the US by 26 September to do so. We have returned to our home country and are not ready to make the permanent move just yet due to work commitments etc. Is there any way we could get our visa extended for a further 12 months, say to move in 2019?? Also, one of our children has just been accepted to a university in our home country. Is there a way they can do this and then move on the Green Card??
Thanks for your advice in advance.
September 28, 2017 at 02:55
No. If you had applied for a re-entry permit while you were there, that would have worked, but you cannot apply for that outside the USA. So, you must return within 12 months absence. If you don’t take up residence at that point you may risk your Green Card.
September 28, 2017 at 03:18
So we could potentially visit the US and apply for a re-entry permit whilst visiting?
September 28, 2017 at 03:45
Yes – you would have to stay in the US until you have the biometric – that will mean 5 or 6 weeks. THe I-131 (if approved) will give up to 2 years absence.
September 28, 2017 at 05:24
I got married after selection and added my wife ds260 form.on the last page before submission it asks for kcc case number.Do i put my case number in her form since iam the principle applicant or kcc was supposed to assign a case number for derivative.

Do you need to prove your financial stability if you are a DV winner? I didn’t see it in the form or anywhere else. DV lottery winner here. I am worried because I have seen a few articles and how come it was never mentioned before. I thought to get the visa you just need to be educated enough or to be able to meet a job criteria. 2018 DV didnt mention anything like that
September 28, 2017 at 14:07
Yes it was mentioned in the DV2018 instructions (FAQ question 37 or 38 I think), and it is a part of standard immigration law.
https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
September 30, 2017 at 04:56
1. But if I qualify by Education or employment (Skills wise) there shouldn’t be a problem.
2. Do they usually ask for this?
According to the website they do not specify anywhere for this in the supporting documents. (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected/prepare-supporting-documents.html)
Also see “(4) Public charge.-
(A) In general.-Any alien who, in the opinion of the consular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney General at the time of application for admission or adjustment of status, is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible.
(B) Factors to be taken into account.-
(i) In determining whether an alien is excludable under this paragraph, the consular officer or the Attorney General shall at a minimum consider the alien’s-
(I) age;
(II) health;
(III) family status;
(IV) assets, resources, and financial status; and
(V) education and skills
(ii) In addition to the factors under clause (i), the consular officer or the Attorney General may also consider any affidavit of support under section 213A for purposes of exclusion under this paragraph.”
They would have to consider it all together right?
September 30, 2017 at 16:55
I’m not sure why you are asking again. ALL immigration cases have to be considered for “public charge”. There are various was the CO can be satisfied about that. The earlier link explained all that. There is no need to quote long passages of the law etc – I know all that already.
September 28, 2017 at 06:20
Hi dear Simon I am DV winner 2017 am oredy in USA almost 120 days I oredy paid my fee payment before I came here, steel I haven’t received my green card I went to USCIS office they told me to have biometric I do,when can u recieve my green card after my biometric.thanks for everything u helped us from the beginning of our process.
September 28, 2017 at 14:06
I don’t know how much longer they will take after the biotmetrics.
September 28, 2017 at 06:42
Hi Brit, I’m thinking to present I-134 as a financial proof in interview but also I have 13k $ in my bank account. If I can’t get the I-134 form is my bank account 13K $ enough by itself ? We are two person to immigrate my wife and me.
Thanks
September 28, 2017 at 13:35
13k isn’t enough to satisfy the requirement at most embassies. So – you might need the I-134.
September 28, 2017 at 14:05
Do you recommend to take also my bank account beside I-134 ?
September 28, 2017 at 14:10
Sure. Why not.
September 28, 2017 at 06:48
Hello Brit, with the new Trump decision of banning the 8 countries which is said to take effect in 18th of October will it affect VISA interviews before October 18th? I have 3 US citizens brothers in the US and I have been issued a visa twice (Syrian nationality).
Regards.
September 28, 2017 at 13:34
THe new ban is in two phases. Phase 2 starts on October 18. At that time the relationship with your brothers won’t help your case (the bona fide relationship exception is removed).
Phase 1 is a continuation of the old ban – meaning as a Syrian you are banned BUT you can demonstrate a bona fide relationship to overcome the ban.
So – if you have an interview booked before October 18 you have a chance.
September 28, 2017 at 07:25
That is, after my interview at the embassy, and everything has gone well and I have been granted the visa, once I am residing in the US, I have to make an appointment to see my case (infopass), and there I do that they call biometric is that they take the traces and I have to deliver photos, etc. In addition to paying the corresponding fee, 1. to get me the card?
2. I thought all this was done at the embassy, the interview, etc., is this just for those who are now in the US?
3. Or is it a second interview when you arrive in the US?
Because you talk about asking for an appointment to see your case, and ask if KCC already has all of your documents, and to have them waiting to be interviewed.
But I’m supposed to take all the documents to the embassy of Madrid, it creates confusion.
Thank you very much
September 28, 2017 at 13:31
First – please “reply” when continuing a conversation – so that the context is obvious.
You asked about two words – infopass and biometric. Neither of those things apply to your case since you are applying outside the USA.
So – your answers are :
1. No
2. It is done at the embassy
3. No
September 28, 2017 at 15:18
1, Oops excuse me, I did not respond by continuing the conversation.
2. Aahhhh!! Thanks for your response, you are great !! 🙂
September 28, 2017 at 08:29

Hi simon ! I have my interview im november ! 2018EU3xxx
I have made a mistake in my parents details . The mistake is on STate/province , i choose the “do not know ” option . It should be made ” does not apply ” .
How can i made the change ?
Does it affect my case ?
Thanks in advance
September 28, 2017 at 13:23
Doesn’t matter. No need to change.
September 28, 2017 at 15:24
Hello Yester, I have 2018EU7XXX, your interview is in November, approximately when the appointment date for the interview?
Good luck!!
September 28, 2017 at 10:46
Hello Britt .. if you have a fail in your educational certificates for instance failing in English in d high skul.. will cos denial
September 28, 2017 at 13:19
Not being able to spell “school” isn’t a good sign of education. If you want people to not judge you as uneducated, stop typing in texting style.
Now – as I think I have told you before, you need to check the FAQ. One of the articles you should have read is the one below.

Hi everyone
do not waste your time if you are Iranian. I am an Iranian living in the UK and won the 2017 Lottery. After going to their embassy several times and providing stuff they asked for (which took literally one whole year) eventually what I received was a finger up and all my money, time and energy was wasted. They know how to play with people. They could have told me that after the new temporary regulations I am not eligible to go to America but they kept sending me for unnecessary documents. It is funny that they asked for every single irrelevant thing and every time I provided them with the stuff they wanted they asked me something else. They are absolutely inappropriate people and you must be inappropriate if you wanna work with Donald Trump, obviously. I can not hide my sadness from what happened to me because I thought I can visit my family and my grand mum after 7 years but I am sure soon Trump’s position will trump.
any question regarding my application will be answered by me. I will do my best to prevent them to steal people’s money and time and laugh at them.
End.
September 28, 2017 at 13:14
I’m sorry your process did not work out for you, and I am no fan of Trump, but there are many Iranians who HAVE received their DV visas (1363 issued between March and August). You are lucky enough to be living in the UK – some of those winners are no doubt living in worse places, so don’t allow your experience to sour the chance for others.
And by the way you are angry at the USA/Trump. Don’t forget that Iranians have been enduring LONG AP prior to Trump. The reason for that is because Iran and its government is a danger to the rest of the world and is not co-operative in releasing information so that its citizens can be free to live elsewhere. So – you should direct some of your anger for your own government.
September 28, 2017 at 12:18
Hello Britt ! i sent 2 mails to KCC 3 days ago to unlock my DV260 forum because i had made a mistake of year of birth for my case AS2*** they haven t responded me and the last date of submission is before 30 septemeber it is making me worry what to do ?
September 28, 2017 at 13:05
You are a DV2018 selectee – right? In that case the deadline this month does not concern you.
September 28, 2017 at 13:12
Hello Simon,
Ok so here is the story. I won the DV2018 and get married after the results. My wife and I are couple for almost 10 years since high school. We are currently 30 years old. We have traveled to the US five times and always together. We are married since beginning of jun 2017 and our interview is most likely gonna be in December 2017. EU region.
What documentation would be proper evidence of our bona fide marriage ? We live together since january 2016, but joint bank accout opened in july 2017. We have a lot of photos and some statements from our family and friends. Do you think it would be convincing enough ? 🙂 thank you
September 28, 2017 at 16:10
Everything you said plus (as suggestions)
Photos of the wedding celebration
Evidence of trips taken as a couple
Emails/texts
Paperwork for joint bills such as rent/mortgage/utilities that demonstrate you lived together since 2016
Just use your imagination…
September 28, 2017 at 16:48
Thank you for your answer. Could you please clarify: How many photos from wedding and our life before wedding ? For instance 250 photos in a photo album are too many ?
September 28, 2017 at 17:11
Use some common sense.
September 28, 2017 at 19:29
For sure, I’m asking this because some people say that 20 photos are enough some say that whole album is needed …. I’m confused, thats why this stupid question. Sorry
September 28, 2017 at 20:50
Do you really think the CO will sit down with a coffee and see your whole wedding photo album??
September 28, 2017 at 13:20
Hi Simon
Quick one … interview is on Tuesday next week (2018 AF case) and my wife’s police certificate has not arrived yet (she’s the principal), but mine has. Am I correct in assuming we still go to the interview and we will all (wife, myself and 2 kids) simply be put on AP until we send my wife’s certificate? Note: We do have a certificate from 2012 though but I think it’s too old to be accepted/carry weight?
September 28, 2017 at 13:43
Hello Simon I’m 2018 winner my CN As20xx send ds260 may 28 hoping for next month 2nl for December interview
My question
Unfortunately my and my wife’s passports lost yesterday this was really stress for us luckily my child passport is safe I can’t unlocked the ds260 ATM still I didn’t applied for new passport yet and it will take 3 to 6 weeks in my country is that ok to take a new passport to interview without updating the ds260 will it be the problem for my interview !
Thank you
September 28, 2017 at 14:14
No problem.
September 28, 2017 at 13:49
Hi Brit:
I have one question for you:
What do you think will happen, if Sponsor refuses to accept a DV applicant (whom he promised to accept before) at the airport after Visa is approved for an applicant and reached USA? Are there any options to live in the USA by him/her self ?
September 28, 2017 at 14:13
Yes – but if that person is without help from a friend or family member, it could be hard. There is no help from the government.
September 28, 2017 at 13:49
Hi !
It is me again ! I have a number EU00026XXX for the DV2018 lottery, and I started a J1 in the beginning of september.
You advise that I fill my DS260 in a couple of months, but I want to be sure that I can do that even after Sept 30th 2017 ! All those things are stressing !
Thank you so much for what you are doing !
Johanna
September 28, 2017 at 14:12
You have a long time to wait. Relax, don’t rush. If you just entered under a J1 visa – DO NOT submit your DS260 too soon (30-60-90 rule).
September 28, 2017 at 14:24
Hi there I have an interview for November 13 for dv 2018 at nairobi. And I want to reschedule. 3 questions
1.before how many days do i tell them
2.what is the max time they could give me
3.do I just write to the embassy with my name and case number
September 28, 2017 at 14:25
I always advise people not to reschedule as it creates a risk for your case, but if you have NO CHOICE then do so.
1. Sooner is better
2. That is up to them
3. Probably.
September 28, 2017 at 17:11
Hi Brit Simon, Our GC’s arrived in the US a couple of weeks ago, when would you expect our SSN’s to arrive? Many thanks!
September 28, 2017 at 17:23
Hi Britt,
I hope you are fine, and I hope you can help me out here.
I am a Libyan citizen born in Egypt to a libyan man and an Egyption mother. I lived in Egypt with mom till I graduated from college. After that I moved to live in Libya. unfortunately, I don’t have an Egyptian citizenship but in my Libyan passport it says that Egypt was my place of birth. my question is can I take part in 2019 Lottery? and if so how and who with? the Egyptians, or Libyans?
September 28, 2017 at 21:18
Yes. Libya.
September 28, 2017 at 18:00
Hi Brit,
In the instructions of form I-134 says ‘if the sponsor is married the spouse of the sponsor has to sign the form also’.
Do you know any idea about it and where the spouse will sign on the form ??
September 28, 2017 at 18:07
And also I’m immigrating with my wife and in the instructions it says ‘if the sponsor is sponsoring more than one foreign national the sponsor must submit a separate I-134 form.’
Do you think that my wife needs an another form of I-134 or the clause mentions another separate DV case ?
Thanks
September 28, 2017 at 21:16
One for per principal selectee. The one form covers derivatives.
September 29, 2017 at 05:40
So the only one form I-134 is enough for our family ?
September 29, 2017 at 13:35
Yes
September 28, 2017 at 21:17
Next to the sponsor
September 28, 2017 at 18:07
Hello Brit
I would like to thank you so much for the help U R providing for thousands of people. I am a 2017 DV winner, I am already travelled to the US on September-18-2017. On my passport the visa was stamped and the front page was also stamped at the POE on which an LPR was written. I’ve also got my Social Security Card. I understood that I have to wait up to 120 days to receive my GC; however I must travel back to my homeland country soon for a period of 3 to 4 months; i.e. before I can get my GC. The questions are:
1- Is the stamp on my passport would be enough to travel back again to the US for both the airline companies and the immigration authority?
2- A friend of mine who is living with me in the same apartment inside the USA will receive my GC and will send it to me while I am abroad. Can I then use it to travel to US or still I need a new visa or another arrangement?
thanks
September 28, 2017 at 21:16
1. Yes
2. He can send it to you.
September 30, 2017 at 15:28
Hi simon
thank you so much for your reply.
once I get my GC while i am abroad ; can I then use it to travel back to US or still I need a new visa or another arrangement? i miss to say that I am a citizen of Libya, one of the travel banned countries.
Thankd.
September 30, 2017 at 16:43
As a Green Card holder, the ban doesn’t affect you.
September 30, 2017 at 22:05
Thanks a lot
September 28, 2017 at 18:11
Bonjours Brit
A friend has 2 sons in the United States thanks to the dv lottery and he and ca woman want to register to dv 2019 on the registration form they must also re-register them THANK YOU
September 28, 2017 at 21:15
If the children are US citizens they do not have to be on the entry.
September 28, 2017 at 18:53
Hello sir , I won the dv but the time I was playing I make a aror on my date of birth, instead of December 21 I play with 12 January, there is any solution to correct it ?
September 28, 2017 at 21:14
You simply enter the dates correctly in the DS260.
September 28, 2017 at 20:33
Hi Simon, First of all, your website is fantastic and the best I have seen so far, it is simple and easy to understand and I have read all posts you had but I still have 3 questions and I hope that you have not already given answers for these because I respect the work you put into this :
1) I am a DV winner from EU and my case number is EU18XXX . I saw that DV2018 entries from EU which have become current in Oct and Nov are very low compared to previous years. This year we are around 3-4.000’s and all previous years in first 2 months was more than 10k cases.
Is this just because people have behaved slow in sending their DS260 forms and the pace will increase in the coming months?
2) I am living in and a citizen of Turkey but since I was born in Netherlands, my DV chargeability is from Netherlands. Does this affect any of the remaining 2NL or any other processes, timing etc?
3) My case number is 18XXX but I submitted my DS260 form as early as 4th May 2017. Does this save me time or speed up the queue etc?
Thanks a lot and I wish the best for you and your family in USA.
September 28, 2017 at 20:47
1. People being slow to submit would cause the opposite effect. Out of each 1000 cases, KCC can only schedule an interview for cases where the DS260 is completed and processed. So – if less people submitted the DS260 KCC would need to release MORE numbers in the VB to achieve the number of interviews they want each month. In fact the “slow” VB is caused because KCC have found a way to prioritize processing of DS260s not only by date submitted but also case number – so low case numbers were processed earlier. More processed cases meant a lower VB. It’s all fine – doesn’t change the overall process.
2. No
3. No. You still have to wait until your case number is current.
September 28, 2017 at 20:57
Sorry Simon, I’m not sure if you saw my message. Our GC’s arrived in the US a couple of weeks ago, when would you expect our SSN’s to arrive? Many thanks!
September 28, 2017 at 21:22
Within the first 2 or 3 weeks. If they have not arrived within that time – go to the SSA office.
September 28, 2017 at 21:38
Thank you!
September 28, 2017 at 21:38
Hi Brit,
I did everything for the DV 2017 processing on time. The embassy in Ethiopia requested me to submit my travel document to issue me the Visa. They lost my former travel document and when i came back with a new one as requested again(1st september 2017), they refused me with a reason that Visa 2017 has finished.
How could this happen? Any solution?
Thank you,
[email protected]
September 28, 2017 at 22:47
That was horribly handled by the embassy, but there is no solution. I’m sorry.
September 28, 2017 at 22:56
Hi britt , however i do my research about the phrase *in care of * BUT would you please explain it, what is that mean in dv lottery ?
September 28, 2017 at 23:02
https://www.reference.com/business-finance/care-address-94c5db5a393dd31b
September 28, 2017 at 23:42
Ok. Thanks for the quick replay ,but just to be clear to me , i have to write my father/mother name in the *in care of * box , because iam living with them . 1-Is it right? Or if i leave the box empty ,2- is that ok(fine)? 3- which one is better to do? Iam in iraq . Thanx again
September 28, 2017 at 23:46
Don’t use in care of.
September 29, 2017 at 03:49
Dear Simon,
Great work on the website!! I have a couple questions id like ask.
1. What is the amount of funds that a family of 4 would be recommend to show?
2. We have applied form the United Arab Emirates, but my bank funds are saved up in India. Would it be fine to get proof of funds from India to show at the Abu Dhabi embassy here in the UAE?
3. This In regards to the Police Clearance Letter. It Has been 2 years now that i have acquired a Portuguese passport, previously having an Indian passport. I don’t have an Indian passport anymore but, have something called OCI (Overseas citizen of India book) A travel document for Indians who were previously holding Indian passports. From the age of 16 i was residing in India for my graduation. And ever since that moved and lived in the UAE. Now when i apply for PCC in the UAE, it mentions my current nationality (Portuguese). But the PCC i have obtained from India says i am in Indian national based on my OCI and house address back in India. (They do not issue local police clearance letters for foreigners who were previously holding Indian passports). Can i go ahead and present the PCC from India to the embassy. Would it be an issue?
Please advice.

Assuming you paid your $220 fee, it will arrive within 3 to 4 months of entry.

Hi Simon,
I cannot find my original confirmation number and cannot login to the ESC page. When I click on ‘Forgot confirmation number’ then login, it brings up my appointment letter but this only includes my case number.
I have been scheduled for an interview in Sydney on November 14.
Do I need to confirm my interview with the consulate?
Thank you in advance, and for producing such a helpful website.

No – that date is set.

Good day Brit
Thank you for all the information you have been providing over the years.
I think my question was answered by reading the FAQ, though I would like to make sure. I am hoping to
be selected for temporary employment next year on an agriculture visa (H-2A).
In the event that I am lucky enough to be selected for DV2019 and am still in the US when my interview date is given, would it then become an AoS case and my interview would possibly be processed in the US or would I be required to return to the country where I submitted my application?
Thank you for your time and assistance.
September 29, 2017 at 13:43
It depends on how long you would be in the USA. Realistically returning home would be the most likely outcome. But anyway – the DV process is a LOTTERY. Wait and see if you win.

Hi Brit,
In your opinion, do you think you will be able to hear anything regarding the 2017 photos cases once the interviews start? Can I hope that we know more by the end of October? It is a bit of a silly question, but I am so anxious and so much hangs on this. Thank you!
September 29, 2017 at 13:44
We will hear something – but I don’t know when.

Hi Brit,
Hi Brit,
I did everything for the DV 2017 processing on time. The embassy in Ethiopia requested me to submit my travel document to issue me the Visa. They lost my former travel document and when i came back with a new one as requested again(1st september 2017), they refused me with a reason that Visa 2017 has finished.
However, some individuals who work at the embassy called me this morning, to pay pay a massive money and get the visa.
Please, i need your help on how to know my visa is issued or not, and how to control the fraud sothat get my visa?
September 29, 2017 at 13:46
Don’t pay anyone anything – that is obviously just an attempt to take money from you.

Hi Brit,
In preparing my affidavit of support, i noticed a section for beneficiary where it states “Relationship to sponsor”. In my case, my cousin-in-law is my sponsor. 1. Is that relationship good enough or better than another affidavit from a friend?
September 29, 2017 at 13:47
That relationship is fine.
