Hello Brit!
Im concerned if the relationship to my sponsor is acceptable. My sponsor is a childhood friend of my mother in law, and Im doind CP in Tirana Embassy, Albania.
Please can you give me a feedback?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate your website, and Im an everyday reader.
September 29, 2017 at 19:06
Tirana are a bit odd about the I-134. If your sponsor is married for instance, Tirana insist on having a second I-134 signed by the spouse. No other embassy asks for that. As for whether the relationship will be a problem or not – I cannot guess their assessment of that.
September 29, 2017 at 19:18
heloo, birt, i am 2018dvwinner and my interview is octobar 10 . i am one of the banned countries which is somalia.my first question is : 1-can my first cousin be a bone fida 2-how can we prove that he is my cousin ?3- is it sufficient to show only his birth cerficate to the embessy? 4-is it advisable for me to get that birth certificate from him and take it with me to the interview?
September 29, 2017 at 19:35
Hello Britt now I’ll tell you the last part of my movie!!!! Our gc did arrives last Friday and everything was fine! The file of my oldest son was missing and by that he didn’t was interviewed. I had been was in uscis 10 days ago to find information about it and they told me the files was not arrived yet. I come back there again, 3 day before and the files was sent it 2 days ago. I did come back last Tuesday and the files was arrive one day before but nobody call me to give me date interview. But I found an guardian angel inside the office, she really did makes all posible to help me! I come back this tuesday they try to find the officer in charge of DV Lottery but he wasn’t there, then my guardian angel writes personal note for him explaining that we was APROVED and we just was waiting for my son’s interview date. Next day in the morning she called me to give me the appoinment for the interview which another officer because the DV lottery Officer was outside for a few days. My son was interviewed yesterday but we had to wait until DV lottery officer come back to the office today. SURPRISE!!!! Right now I just checked website and says: the new card has been ordered!!!!!!!!!! Omg ?? Thanks a lottttt!!!! God bless you for all your help and support
September 29, 2017 at 19:58
I’m very happy for you. Other AOS cases have (since September 8) been denied because visas have run out. Your case was somehow adjudicated just before the 8th, and then adding your son was a nice thing to have occurred.
Congratulations!
September 29, 2017 at 19:43
Hello Britt .. thanks for your honest advice .. want to ask a question.
1. I mistakenly put a wrong date of birth when filling the dv lottery which is just the day but I haven’t fill the ds260 forms yet.. want to know if I can put the correct date without any foul.
2. On my educational certificate my date of birth was wrong again in high school but at the University levels I have my real date of birth. I wanted to swear an affidavit in other to prevent any misunderstanding. Will that cause any possible denial.
September 29, 2017 at 20:03
You have asked these questions before – several times. Do you REALLY need to keep asking the same questions?
September 29, 2017 at 20:07
Didn’t get the understanding well. That is why I have outlined them
September 29, 2017 at 20:59
1. You MUST put the correct DOB in the DS260. There is still some risk of denial as you are in Ghana.
2. As I have explained before, these small errors tend to add up – and create a larger possibility of denial.
September 29, 2017 at 20:32
Mr, Bright , I am a DV 2018 winner ,but I play single because I was not marry during the time of entry . Now that,I am married I want to add my husband to the DS-260 form, but my questions are:
1. Should I write KCC to let them know that I am adding my husband to the DS-260 form?
2.Should ,I scan our marriage certificate to KCC.
3.If I do not write KCC to let them know of my status changed or Scan my marriage certificate to KCC will it be a problem if I add my husband to the DS-260 form or face problem during our interview?
September 29, 2017 at 21:01
1. You write and ask to unlock your form. Then you use the add applicant function to add your husband.
2. You will scan it into the DS260.
3. I had assumed you already had submitted your DS260 – if you haven’t you don’t need to ask to unlock.
September 29, 2017 at 21:09

Hi,brit
I submitted my DS260 form on Sep 13,2016 and did my interview on March 08,2017 at the Embassy of USA located in khartoum,Sudan. I gave them all my documents including my passport and my sponsors papers. My question is when i checked my case(2017AF17xxxx) status it said that my case is being processed in Cairo, Egypt??…and Does it take this long(almost 7 months since my interview) to get processed? As you know, the Deadline for DV2017 is today. what is the possibility of getting a visa??…
Thank you
September 30, 2017 at 16:59
I’m sorry – the chance has passed. If you have not been issued already – you now won’t get a visa.
September 30, 2017 at 19:55
But still my passport n other docs is with them For almost seven months. i email them they told me that they are experiencing high volume of cases. Can they reject me while keeping my passport n docs with them? Is that possible?….
thanks for the information, brit.
September 30, 2017 at 20:35
Yes, that is what will happen.
September 30, 2017 at 04:38

September 30, 2017 at 09:40

Dear SIMON
My brother has won the DV 2018 lottery with the Case number: 2018AF00019***. He fill and sent the DS260 on July 1 2017.
1.When is his interview day? And 2.how long does it take after he send the DS260 to schedule for interview
September 30, 2017 at 16:47
1. I don’t know
2. It varies.
September 30, 2017 at 12:16
hi i am dvlottery winner 2018 – from egypt and my case 20000 – What do you think of this number?
September 30, 2017 at 16:47
It’s a lovely round number.
September 30, 2017 at 13:19
Hi, I have one question. If one of the spouses do not want to apply for dvlottery, can another one apply or you need photos of both spouses to participate in the lottery? Thank you in advance.
September 30, 2017 at 16:46
A married person MUST include the spouse on the eDV (including the photo). The spouse does not have to apply for a GC if the case is selected.
September 30, 2017 at 13:49
hi ,winner of 2018dv
high school completed with passing grades ,after 1 acadamic year at a university for some reasons and failed grades,i could not continue, is it nesesarry to fill in the ds260 the stay at the university?
September 30, 2017 at 16:45
Yes
September 30, 2017 at 14:43
Dear Simon,
I have three question please answer them:
1. Only Our parent (Me and My Wife parent) since some month are living in Iran does this issue make any bad effect in our case or no when we are going for visa interview?
2. In DS260 form in work experience section when asked me, Does this job required two years of experience, mistakenly I have selected yes instead of no so does this also make any bad effect in my case ( because I am a Bank Customer Service Officer and this required only one year of experience base on my search in job zone )?
3. Is it better if I go for unlock of DS260 and solve the question two issue?
Note: For better of your help to me, I am qualified base on my high school diploma.
Thanks,
September 30, 2017 at 16:44
1. No
2. That doesn’t matter as long as you meet the education requirement.
3. No need to do that.
September 30, 2017 at 16:02
Hi Brit I wanna ask a question which one do you think is the best option for financial proof a bank account which has 20k for 2 person family or a sponsor ?
September 30, 2017 at 16:42
I-134 is always the simplest way.
September 30, 2017 at 19:06
Thanks for your help. So if the expiration date on the visa is wrong can the embassy fix it ? If not can I get lawyer? Because it so unfair my brother got visa on August 25 and the expiration date is August 21th but now embassy says they are out of visa? Not fair?Thank you brit
September 30, 2017 at 19:18
No it’s not fair – but there is no way to fix it. Some advanced planning (either your embassy or your brother) would have stopped the error. The expiration date is set as 6 months after the medical. So – in July your brother should have repeated the medical.
September 30, 2017 at 19:51
I wish we had known this. Thank you so much.
September 30, 2017 at 19:25
Hi, my case number is between 300 and 325 but i dont got receive the appointment to go to embassy yet, is normal?

September 30, 2017 at 20:27
I am 2018 dv lottery winner, I am from Morocco my case number is around 34300. I want to know the interval destinated for Morocco so I can have an idea of my chances to get the interview, the number of the Moroccan selectees is around 2400 but only 1500 get the visas
September 30, 2017 at 20:34
Your number is fine. Patience.
September 30, 2017 at 20:59
Hello Simon,
Is it a fatal mistake- I entered the lottery and put by mistake unmarried status while being divorced? Of course I put correct status in DS260 and ex husband data. Do I have any chance to pass the interview successfully? (the rest info was provided correctly). I’ve read some stories of happy ending with the same mistake, maybe because in both status the person is actually single and there’s no need to put ex husband info in the entry, – but still need your opinion.
Thank you very much, have a nice day
September 30, 2017 at 23:54
It is not certain denial. It is a mistake, with some risk, but the CO can choose to overlook the mistake.
October 1, 2017 at 10:46
Thank you for the answer! Hope I’ll be lucky.. God bless you, Simon
October 1, 2017 at 01:54
Hello Simon,
When i submitted my DS260, i filled 2 previous jobs, and now NOT EMPLOYEED, do i need to bring the cerificates for my previous employments the day of the interview or not? i found only the recent one and i can’t get the oldest one, does it affect my case? is it mandatory?
October 1, 2017 at 02:36
No it’s not mandatory. Employment history isn’t verified UNLESS the person is not able to meet the education requirements.
October 1, 2017 at 04:29
Hi Simon ,great job
My DOB in the eDV ,in the DS260,in the BC and in my PASS is the same, but in my educational documents is different.Surprisingly the DOB in the educational documents is correct. Birth registration date was latest and only birth year is wrong and the DOB in the EDs is 3 years older, there is no way to correct becouse i live outside of my birth country and i am not national of the birtth country
12 years course i was graduated at 17 years of old based on my EDs but based on (eDV,DS260,BC and PASS) i was graduated at 14
is it possible to get visa according to the above information
i am dv2018 winner, AF24*”,THANKS
October 1, 2017 at 10:39
There is obviously risk because you are saying that your BC and passport are both wrong, AND you entered the wrong DOB on your DSS260. So – either that is all wrong, or your education document is wrong and you started school at 2 years old!
October 1, 2017 at 04:42
Hi Simon,
I filled in the DS-260 with my (deceased) mom’s middle name as “Maria” – the only middle name I’ve ever known her to use. However, we just got my long form birth certificate and I was surprised to see her middle name is listed as “Mary” on it.
Should I unlock and correct the DS-260, or will this just be straightened out at the interview, if necessary?
Thanks!
October 1, 2017 at 10:40
It is no problem at all. No need to unlock for that.
October 1, 2017 at 10:40
If you unlock for something else – then correct it.
October 1, 2017 at 05:08
Hi Simon,
I won DV2018, my interview should be in March or April (2018EU157xx). Would you recommend to apply for DV2019 in case there might not be a visa for me in 2018?
October 1, 2017 at 10:41
I recommend everyone to apply for DV2019. There is no reason not to.
October 1, 2017 at 05:47
Hi Brit..
need your advice, I have already submitted my ds form as single and my CN is 16xxx.
I last week got married legally and now have the certificate, I have dated the guy since 2013…now if I unlock my ds to add him will it affect my case or I should not risk?
October 1, 2017 at 10:41
Unlock and add him.
October 1, 2017 at 06:25
Hellow Brit how are u great man. Am one of your successful DV 2017 followers . i have entered united state in last march and soon got my permanent residences. when i was entering united state i hadn’t passport of my nationality, i was living in Egypt as a refuge in that time. when i got congrats of my DV interview the embassy in Cairo put my visa on separate paper and with a travel document from red cross as i was a refuge and with the mentioned visa i entered united state.
now i want to travel out side united state . i can get now my national passport here in united state.
so Mr Brit if i travel with this new passport out side united state is it a problem since my entry via is not in this passport.
Thank you so much.
October 1, 2017 at 10:42
You would travel with the visa as well as the new passport.
October 1, 2017 at 10:45
Hello Simon,
I have a problem concerning my age, I was born on February 19th, 1996.
On September 20th we received the 2NL (DV-2018). The interview will be on November 21st.

No, you aged out in September.
October 1, 2017 at 10:55
Hi,my husband has complete his ds form with no mistake but I made a mistake on my passport number but have place a permanent lock on it so what do I do
October 1, 2017 at 11:01
You can’t do anything. That is what the permanent lock means. You will discuss it with the CO in the interview.
October 1, 2017 at 11:19

October 1, 2017 at 12:03

October 1, 2017 at 14:39
By “points” do you mean the things you plan to correct? No.
October 1, 2017 at 15:06
Hi Brit.
Once a greencard holder gets citizenship, will he still be investigated a lot if he travels to his home country frequently or for longer period like 6+ months?
October 1, 2017 at 17:37
Yes potentially.
October 1, 2017 at 15:12
Hi brits.
I have just realized that my husband birthcertificate has only two names.family name which is second and fathers name no first name.is there any problem with that?thankyou.
October 1, 2017 at 15:14
Hi BritSimon,
1. From what I understand, police certificate is required from other countries where I stayed at least one year. Am I correct? I used to stay in the US for 2 years. If so, how can I get the police certificate since I never go there again?
2. In the DS 260, for the city of birth, I filled in it with district since where I live, there is no city; it has only district, province and country. Is that ok?
October 1, 2017 at 17:52
Hello Brit, can we check traval ban countires on next visa bulatin?
Are you new traval ban country selectee didint call to intrview??
October 1, 2017 at 18:37
Travel ban countries will continue to have interviews scheduled. It is up to selectees to decide whether to proceed to take the interview or not.

hi brit
I entered to US with dv category( 06/oct/2016) and i am from iran . I received green card after 15 day , so i came back to my country and I can not come back to US FOR SOME REASONS(SUCH AS BAN) .after one week this delay time probably will be one year.
1. Can i go to US after one year?
2.Is it possible the CBP officer grab my green card?
3.If I CAN go to US ,can i take white passport from uscis?
thank you
October 1, 2017 at 18:44
As a Green Card holder the ban doesn’t apply to you. However, if you do not return within 1 year of absence you will lose your Green Card. So – get yourself on a plane to the USA before the 1 year!!!!
October 1, 2017 at 20:58
hi brit
thanks for you help
I understand
1.I have to come to USA right away.
2.if I come to US , I can receive white passport.
ok?
thank you
October 1, 2017 at 19:16
Brits you did not answer my question on birth certificate having two names.kindly
October 1, 2017 at 19:33
I don’t know about procedures in your country so I can’t comment. If that is the genuine birth cert, all he can do is present what he has.

October 2, 2017 at 00:08
Your chance is OK. Just be truthful and explain the difference in calendar dates if asked.
