Hi BritSimon,
Sorry for asking you the second time.
1. It is almost 14 years since I had stayed in the US for 2 years. Is it required for the police certificate. If so, how can I get it?
2. In the DS 260, it says: city of birth, province of birth, country of birth. I filled with the district, province and country. Is that ok?
Best regards.
October 2, 2017 at 01:38
1. No police certs for USA
2. Yes

hi brit
I entered to US with dv category( 06/oct/2016) and i am from iran . I received green card after 15 day , so i came back to my country and I can not come back to US FOR SOME REASONS(SUCH AS BAN) .after one week this delay time probably will be one year.
1. Can i go to US after one year?
2.Is it possible the CBP officer grab my green card?
3.If I CAN go to US ,can i take white passport from uscis?
thank you
BritSimon

As a Green Card holder the ban doesn’t apply to you. However, if you do not return within 1 year of absence you will lose your Green Card. So – get yourself on a plane to the USA before the 1 year!!!!

October 2, 2017 at 15:40
hello brit
Thank you for your attention.
yes .I have question about white passport.
Can i receive white passport after entering US? Because I had long delay time after admitting in US.( almost nearly a year ,not one year)
October 2, 2017 at 15:45
Yes – if you apply for it – it takes about 6 weeks to have the biometric – so you need to plan to stay at least that long. And it is not guaranteed.

If you have proof of your relationship, then there is no problem. But if you waste any more time thinking about it, you will be making things more complicated.

How are u ?
I just got back with one question again.
When I checked the print out of My Ds 260 application i failed to include my host surname in the application. However, I have included his first name ,his address including his personal cell phone number. Will it be a problem not to include his surname?
This is to ask u if i need to unlock my application to make corrections.

Hi Brit,
I you leave the United States after becoming a Permanent Resident through the visa activation at the POE and than move back to Europe to absolve a 4 month internship before coming back to the USA, would that endanger my status as a LPR? Could the Officers at the airport see it as an abandonment or relinquishment of my status?
It would just be a 4 month internship to prepare myself for the work and the university in USA, I could show admission documents from the university and I would travel with a one way ticket.
Unfortunately I don’t have time to apply for the reentry permit, I will stay only one week in the USA on my activation trip.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Greetings
October 2, 2017 at 13:55
That is no problem.
October 3, 2017 at 09:37
I forgot an important fact, the country where the internship is is not my country of residence.
October 2, 2017 at 12:27
Hello Brit. Here is my Question.. If the 8 new countries are banned such as Syria why is Syria still mentioned in the Dv Lottery 2019?
Regards.
October 2, 2017 at 13:51
Because some people from Syria will be able to get their visas (adjustment of status cases, people who can get a waiver). Not many, but some.
October 2, 2017 at 12:58
Hi Simon, in reading one of your old post, I understand that only the applicant must meet the School / or work requirement, while the same is not requested for husband/wife unless for “cross charging”: I am not sure what this does it mean, as I am the main applicant and am ok while my wife has neither school nor work requirement. Thanks a lot, Fausto
October 2, 2017 at 13:50
So then it is just you that needs to prove education.
October 2, 2017 at 13:31

ok but no info about it ?
October 2, 2017 at 14:37
No
October 2, 2017 at 13:58
Hi
I’ve noticed quite a deviation in the DV 2018 cut off number for Africa compared with most of the previous years. 2018 has a mere 100 person increase. Does this spell trouble? Or is it likely they’ll be doing some catch up in October?
Thanks for the great site.
October 2, 2017 at 14:36
I have explained this in recent articles. It’s only 2 months in to a 12 month process. Patience.
October 2, 2017 at 14:03
Hi Brit
If you haven’t received the updated police clearance certificate before your interview, do you still attend and will they then just put on AP pending receipt?
October 2, 2017 at 14:35
Yes
October 2, 2017 at 14:06
Brit, ban countries 2018 Dv selectee also Ban interview?
October 2, 2017 at 14:35
No, the interviews will be scheduled for banned countries.
October 2, 2017 at 17:18
Britt all of ban countries selectee’s are call to interview or only visa bullatin published no only?
October 2, 2017 at 18:30
No case gets interviewed unless the VB shows the number is current.
October 2, 2017 at 14:41
Hi brit,
I am principle selectee of DV2018, my spouse stays in USA since last one and half year i have selected her visa interview as USCIS, and we (son and i) will interview in Nepal ambessy, in this case do i need my spose’s police report too.
October 2, 2017 at 15:50
So you are planning to file FTJ (I-824) after her AOS case is approved? That is risky if she has a high case number. No police certs needed for her.
October 2, 2017 at 15:56
Brit sorry for inconvenience
Our case no is 14xx, dos this all process shall finished within september too.
October 2, 2017 at 16:32
Region?
October 2, 2017 at 15:20
sorry brit for asking many questions but no one is helpful other than you about this.
my question is :in ds-260 confirmation page was indicating completed when the case at KCC but after the case has been transfered to the embessy ,there is an other one which indicates incomplete .is it normal .
the second question is:how long does it take to recieve the visa after the interview if every thing is complete and no missing document .
October 2, 2017 at 15:49
1. Normal
2. 1 to 2 weeks.
October 2, 2017 at 15:23
Hello mr Simon
I want clear answer to this question
Q1: is this year look like dv2015???? because I noticed that third VB in 2015 up to 7500 in egypt and may the third VB this year will up to this number or more
October 2, 2017 at 15:48
It doesn’t work like that. Wait and see.
October 2, 2017 at 15:30
Hi mr Simon
There are 3500 visa to Egypt
One visa of this number(3500) for a family won in dv or to each member of this family who father or mother won
October 2, 2017 at 15:48
There are not 3500 “allocated” to Egypt. You are talking about a max limit to any country. But to illustrate your question, A family of 5 means 3500 – 5
October 2, 2017 at 15:35
Hello Mr Simon, I have the case number 569 of SA, Do you think our interview may be this year?
We are getting ready all the papers but some of then will expire in 3 months.
Also in the medical requeriments are some health exams that will expire in 60 days.
I want to be prepared and anticipate everything
October 2, 2017 at 15:47
It might be December, but more likely Jan/Feb. Don’t book medicals or get any papers until you get the 2NL.
October 2, 2017 at 16:30

Thanks.

if someone enter dv with A picture of him are old from year or two years ago
and he win
that is a problem ??and he may get refuse in the embassy??
October 2, 2017 at 18:29
Refusal for an old photo is possible but rare.
October 2, 2017 at 17:56
Hello Mr. Brit,
Could you please be so Kind and give me your opinion regarding DV2019? I was already selected on DV 2018 but my number is EU-36xxx so I am afraid I will not get picked for an interview. On your experience should I apply for the New Program and play it safe in case I get a better number next year or do I have any chances with the 2018 program?
October 2, 2017 at 18:28
There is no downside to entering DV2019. So do that.
October 2, 2017 at 18:36
Ok I really appreciate it, I will do that. What possibilities do you think I have for this program thought?

October 2, 2017 at 18:01
Mr. Simon,
My question to you is on the validity of my PCC that i have already obtained from the country i resided and studied in from the age of 16 till I was 22. After the age of 22 I moved to another country. The PCC is dated June of 2017. If my interview is post June 2018, will the PCC still be valid? or is it only valid for a year like the current residing country PCC validity?
October 2, 2017 at 18:28
Some COs would still accept it because you left the country and haven’t returned. However, why risk that – order a new PCC nearer the interview date.
October 2, 2017 at 21:55
Hi Brit
I have been at US 4 times in 90’s
Last time was from 1999 till 2003 on B1 Visa
On 2003 there was hearing from immigration for 18 country to register at their offices , i did so and i was ordered to leave the country valounterly
I left the states since that time
I am Derivative 2018 DV winner
And i completed my whole family Ds 260 since may
Is there is any problem i might face in the interview
Or according to the immigration law if you have departed the country once in the last 5 years or twice in the last 20 years you are not in need for i212 form
One more quistion
I wrote an extra letter in my daughter last name in fs 260 , should i unlock the form for that taking into consideration that the CN 2018 AF 7***
Thanks
October 2, 2017 at 21:59
I can’t be certain because I don’t know the details of your case – but in general the maximum ban you could have received was 10 years – which would be over by now. So I don’t think this will cause a problem – but talk to a lawyer if you want.
Yes correct the DS260 for your daughter.
October 2, 2017 at 22:29
Thanks Brit
Is the unlocking of ds 260 let it take extra time in processing or time will be the same since i completed
October 2, 2017 at 23:28
No change
October 3, 2017 at 01:56
Hi Brit
I’ve been selected for DV2018, and I’ve noticed it lately, a month ago, because I wasn’t expecting it. I want to apply but I am pregnant and expecting delivery on November, should I wait so I can add my new born in the DS260 or else. How can I secure the listing of my new born
Thanks in advance
October 3, 2017 at 03:07
Yep wait until the birth then add the child to your DS260 and complete a DS260 for the child.

Hello Sir,
My name is Gloria. I am a Liberian and live in Liberia with my youngest daughter, She is 11years. I am preparing to attempt the 2019 DV lottery application. I have been married for 9 years but for now my husband is in the USA with my oldest daughter. My husband is a US citizen and my daughter is 14years and has a green card.
Should I apply as a married person or single?
Thank you so much.

Hi
I want to register for DV lottery 2019 but due to some problems, I won’t be able to attend the interview.my question is how long I can postpone my interview? is it possible to postpone it for 2-3 years?! and how many times I can do it?
thanks
October 3, 2017 at 13:56
No you can’t postpone it that long. But this is a lottery with a tiny chance of winning. You are already talking about not being able to make the interview!!!! Don’t bother entering the lottery until you have an understanding of how big a life changing thing this would be.
October 3, 2017 at 05:00
Hi brit.on behalf of a friend applying for green card this month l would like you to clarify on this question since l was unable to answer.

Hi Simon,
I have been selected for DV2018, I have received my interview confirmation for November 14 to be conducted in Sydney, Australia. I cannot find my confirmation number and have my case number only. My question/s are:
1. Do I need to confirm my appointment with the US Embassy in Sydney or do I just show up on the 14th at the designated time? Should I contact them to confirm?
2. How do I retrieve my original confirmation number? When I click on ‘Forgot Confirmation Number’ on the ESC website it redirects me to the PDF with my appointment letter.
3. I will be providing bank/financial statements for my interview. I am married and my wife (a current GC holder) and I own a property in New York. Her name is on our US mortgage, does this count toward my proof of financial stability?
Thank you so much for your help, John
October 3, 2017 at 13:52
1. Usually just show up – although they may contact you before the appointment to register for a courier.
2. Use the lost conf number link on the ESC page will get you to your 2NL. Why do you need the conf number now??
3. Yes. That won’t be a problem in Sydney.

October 3, 2017 at 08:16

October 3, 2017 at 13:47
2000 per month
October 3, 2017 at 14:10
And what’s the level for the SA region?
October 3, 2017 at 14:24
I’m not sure you are understanding the question. Level of appointments is not the same as VB number progress. Appointment capacity on SA is probably around 150/month.
October 3, 2017 at 19:31
And the SA region? How many per month Brit?

Hi brit I would want to base my question concerning the travel ban
1-if this ban continues and say Asia has a significant number that would be affected, if the ban is maintained does that now causes KCC to shift some of the available visas to Africa for e.g since Africa has just a few affected populace
2- if it happens does it yield advantage to the high CN like 4652* for example,
3- does it intend makes Africa say go current earlier than expected since some visa cases were transfered from Asia ?
Thanks as always for I know when u reply as always I will be more clarified
October 3, 2017 at 13:44
1. Wait and see
2. Wait and see
3. Can you guess what my response is?
October 3, 2017 at 09:27
One of the most comprehensive green card guidance, thank Lord for that, and you Simon, for the hard work, some advise needed here:
1. I don’t graduate University, and obviously graduate my minimum 12 years of education, is it correct if I put my highest education as High school? However, there is a problem, I lose all my original paper, due to fire, my Ministry of education only put “Original Copy” on my paper, without issuing new one
2. I have finished and certified in Welding inspection from vocational school, and now also a part time tutor, as I read, vocational school is not eligible for DV, however tutor is qualified
3. By work experience, I reach Quality Engineer level, and previously work in US multinational company (GE)
4. I am also a photographer and Gemstone dealer
Sorry for asking, if you were me, which one do you choose for education/experience for DV lottery
Totally confuse here
Thanks
Nis
October 3, 2017 at 13:43
1. Yes that is correct and the copy should be acceptable.
2. That education isn’t helpful or needed.
3. It doesn’t matter – you are qualifying on education only.
4. I don’t care. Neither does the embassy.
October 4, 2017 at 09:23
Thank you Simon,
so it is better for me to fo via education way?
Thank you

October 3, 2017 at 13:38
Make a list of all the countries you have been to in the last 10 years. It’s not hard to understand is it?
October 3, 2017 at 15:36
No its not hard to understand, im only confused about preparing it in a legal way or just prepare it on a sheet of paper by myself?
October 3, 2017 at 15:50
Yourself would be fine. They just ask for a list.
October 3, 2017 at 11:27
Dear Mr Britsimon

If you can prove it was only 6 months, then you don’t need it (technically). There is no harm in getting it anyway – just in case they ask for it.

Hello Brit, been reading this site since you opened it and also the forum from where I actually found out this site, thanks for all the work you do, and all the information you provide for us. I only tried once and of course I didn’t win 🙂 but a friend of mine won last year so I was going to ask if you know anything about the embassy on Kosovo, we usually use Skopje embassy since there is no US embassy in Kosovo yet.. so my question is, is the Skopje embassy lenient, do they ask for I-134 ? Thanks again, have a great day.

I think they ask for the I-134.

Sorry for asking another question, we can use Tirana or Skopje embassy, which one do you think is more lenient? I heard Tirana has some strict rules. Thank you again !!!

Hello Simon,
My city has different names in English and in my country’s language. Which spelling should I use in my application?
For example, if I lived in Prague, in my language it would be named Praha. Is this detail not important?

Not important – but use English if possible.
