Hi Simon,
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to ask for your advice regarding the Diversity Visa (DV) lottery. I’m Egyptian but was born in Kuwait and currently work and live here in Kuwait. I know there are limited visas for applicants from Kuwait. I’ve applied for both myself and my spouse six times without success, always selecting Kuwait as my country of eligibility in question 6.
Both my parents and my wife were born in Egypt, and my wife and I both hold bachelor’s degrees—she’s a dentist, and I’m a computer science graduate. My question is: Can I select Egypt as my country of eligibility to increase my chances, or should I keep it as it is?
Thanks for your help!
October 13, 2024 at 11:18
I know you have seen my reply, but I will repeat here for the benefit of others.
1. You could charge to Egypt as it is your wife’s country of birth.
2. An entry charged to Kuwait has BETTER chance of selection than Egypt. Egypt is limited, Kuwait is not.
3. To improve your chance, you and your wife should enter charging to KUWAIT

Good morning, I was wondering if I can apply for DV 2026 if I’ve been selected for DV 2025 but I am still waiting for the Cosular appointment.
I was thinking that if this year’s application is unsuccessful (perhaps because deadlines expire and I know that can happen) I would have another chance in the near future. Or is that not allowed? Thank you very much, Simon!
October 12, 2024 at 08:19
Yes that is allowed, and does not create a problem.

Hi Simon, I was born in Saudi but left to the UK since I was 8 years old, never lived there only for the odd holiday, I live since in the UK, can I change the country the country of eligibility to the UK?
October 6, 2024 at 15:27
No. The country of birth is what drives eligibility.
October 6, 2024 at 16:18
Thanks Simon
October 2, 2024 at 17:40
I was born in Kuwait, but I have a British citizenship what should I choose in a question 6 please?
October 2, 2024 at 18:19
You would have answered Q5 with Kuwait, and “Yes for Q6. Your British citizenship is irrelevant.

Hi Simon,
I am not sure on the question about residency. If I’ve always been at the same residence but while studying I temporarily had a room in some houses in a city near mine, do I have to write that? Is it correct to register just the actual residence in my own house, considering that I constantly went and came and I had a room for support just to avoid traveling every day? I am a bit afraid it was wrong.
Thank you very much!
September 28, 2024 at 21:26
Just list the home address.
September 22, 2024 at 09:45
Hello Simon, in the DS-260 there is a question about vaccinations that says “Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance with U.S. law?”
If I’m not sure about alla the vaccinations required but I have documentation about MY vaccinations, should I answer “YES” or “NO”? Thank you so much in advance.
September 22, 2024 at 10:12
The best answer is no – but it won’t harm your application either way.
September 22, 2024 at 09:28
Good morning, Simon. Regarding Education, they ask the Highest Level of Education Completed, but it is also possible to choose “University, no Degree”.
Anyway, it is not a “completed level” since there is no degree. So, what does it mean? Is the right voice “High School Diploma” or in case of a University chosen after High School but not degree we have to select that voice?
Thank you for your time.
September 22, 2024 at 09:58
This isn’t an important question – just choose what sounds right to you.

Hello Brit,I have a question regarding the number of entries one can make if I am married
1. The man can make his own entry
2. The wife can make her own entry all by herself
3. The man can make another entry including his woman
4. The wife can also make another entry including his man
So is it possible you make the four entries using the same photos?
September 30, 2024 at 23:08
No – 2 entries, one per person – and married people MUST include their spouse, so only 3 and 4 in your list exist.

Hi Simon,
We came to visit in mid of Oct-24 with B2 visa and got to know that we win DV 2025. We are planning to adjust since CN is 11xx and bulletin is out with 3000 for Oct.
– Will it be ok if we filed i485 by 1st week of Oct-24?
– is pending i485 eligible to stay if I cause B2 expire in Nov-24? (If happen not to get interview by then)
– Do we require to have valid visa date by the time of interview? (We maintain our B2 status during our stay)
Thanks

Hello. My brother is a DV2024 winner from Armenia, with number 22885. I watched one of your recent videos. Can you advise on who we can contact for legal services to probably open a lawsuit? Thank you!
August 9, 2024 at 08:22
I did not find a lawyer willing to take the case, and now further time has gone by. There have been peaceful protests at the embassy, and the embassy staff have communicated with the protestors, but I am surprised that they have not fixed the problem until now.
August 8, 2024 at 00:45
Hello SIMON:
My number is DV24AS19XXX, and I am the main applicant who won the lottery.
Q1: My spouse did not apply for a green card, so I did not fill in my spouse’s DS260. Is this wrong? Do I need to ask KCC to unlock and fill in my spouse’s DS260?
Q2: Are you worried that if you unlock it now, it will be too late to get in line for an interview before 9/30?
Q3: I misunderstood that each member filled out the DS260 separately and pressed the submit button, so I filled out my own DS260, but the child’s DS260 seemed to have not been signed. My spouse did not apply for a green card, so I did not fill out my spouse’s DS260 at all. When I press the submit button on my own page, the file is locked.
If the child’s DS260 document is really unsigned, must it be unlocked and re-signed? Can it be regarded as giving up the child’s green card and only getting the main applicant’s green card? Because I am afraid that time will be too late.
Thank you very much for your answer.
August 8, 2024 at 13:48
1. If she didn’t want a greencard, then she did not need to complete a DS260.
2. If you haven’t already been scheduled, then the chance is probably gone anyway.
3. *IF* you somehow get scheduled, contact the embassy to discuss this.

My case is Af44k and my case is nvc status in Abu Dhabi embassy is there any chance to get interview at any place I mean am I able to change interview location cuz its seems like Abu Dhabi embassy stop requesting a new cases and there is nothing happen for September what should I do am I lose my chance ? Thanks in advance
August 3, 2024 at 10:17
There is no further chance.
July 28, 2024 at 06:52
I have a case number 2024AF91276 and submitted my DS-260 on May 20, 2023. Could you please let me know if I have a chance to schedule an interview? Additionally, does the late submission of the DS-260 affect the number of selectees ahead of me?
Thank you for your assistance.
July 28, 2024 at 10:16
Date of submission doesn’t mean cases that submitted after you will lose their chance.
The final interviews are being scheduled now. Many embassies already took their last cases. Very few people at your case number will be scheduled, and it depends on which embassy you are at.
July 11, 2024 at 12:26
Dear Simon, I have EU34XXX and just saw the latest bulletin: looks good.
I see that I entered the status ‘Married’ in DS-260 last year. I was assuming that a registered partnership counts the same as a marriage. (together 1 child). I read in your previous reports that this can be a problem and could possibly lead to rejection.
Do you have any further tips, perhaps to approach the KCC or simply wait patiently for an invitation for the interview at the embassy?
Thanks and regards, Marco
July 11, 2024 at 12:49
Well first, to have any chance of approval you would need to get married, but even then you still have some risk.
July 9, 2024 at 21:22
Dear Simon,
When I completed my ds260 I was not married.
Now I am and my wife completed the ds260 but it was not processed by the time of my interview. Is this a posibility and what are the consequences and possibilities?
Thank you for your time!
July 9, 2024 at 23:53
Discuss with the embassy.
July 2, 2024 at 06:10
Hello BritSimon,
Thank you for the good work you are doing.
My issue is that a applied for F1 VISA and was rejected for the reason i did not understand.
In the process, i was selected for the DV2025 with case No AF70***
I am seeking for your guidance, if i should wait for the DV process or if i should apply again for the F1 VISA because the University had written for me a letter to support me for the expedite F1 Visa application. I am expected to have reported at University early August 2024 and yet i also have the DV2025 process.
Your guidance is welcome.
Respectfully ,
Masereka
July 2, 2024 at 09:00
Your DV selection won’t be useful to you until late 2025. So do whatever you want to do for the F1.
June 29, 2024 at 10:07
Hi Brit, I found out I was selected for the dv 2024 only in March 2024 and submitted my ds260 immediately, my case number is very low and they had way passed it so I wrote to KCC this month June 20th 2024 to inquire and I received a reply that reads,
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check http://www.dvlottery.state.gov (http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/). If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can
no longer unlock your application.
June has already ended and I want to find out is it’s possible that I will receive a 2NL before the end of the fiscal year?
Thanks.
June 29, 2024 at 13:42
It is possible, but it depends on which embassy and your case number.
June 29, 2024 at 14:00
My Embassy is Da es Salem in Tanzania and my case number is AF81XX
June 29, 2024 at 14:37
OK, well you might have a chance of getting an interview for September. If you are that lucky, you would get the 2NL in July.
June 29, 2024 at 19:35
Thank you
June 15, 2024 at 04:08
Hi Simon,
I hope you are well. I recently won the Diversity Visa DV25 Lottery, but I mistakenly selected “Divorced” instead of “Unmarried” as my marital status in the initial application. I have since corrected this information in the DS-260 form.
Could you please advise if this initial error will affect my application during the interview? Are there any additional steps I should take to ensure everything proceeds smoothly?
Thank you very much for your assistance.
June 15, 2024 at 10:08
Technically that mistake could cause disqualification, BUT normally I have seen them forgive that mistake.
June 15, 2024 at 11:14
Thank you for your response. To clarify, I want to ensure my understanding is correct: Does this mean that this mistake in selecting “divorced” instead of “single” will not lead to my disqualification during the interview, and that I can proceed with my application normally?
June 15, 2024 at 12:10
That is not what I said. I did not say “will not” (which implies certainty). What I am saying is they would *normally* forgive the mistake – but there is some risk.
June 5, 2024 at 11:59
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2025EU000409XX. What do my odds look like?
June 5, 2024 at 15:29
It looks like a high, and therefore risky, number. However, it is too soon to be sure – we will have a better idea in July or August.
September 10, 2024 at 09:54
Hi Simon. Any updates on this?
September 10, 2024 at 16:24
Yes.
We have the dv poll (https://dv25poll.xarthisius.xyz/) that shows that number is pretty close to the highest number selected.
We also know they reduced the EU selectees as compared to DV2024, although they have not given an accurate final number yet (because they did not list UK)
We also know that the visas available in DV2025 will be 3000 to 3500 less than in DV2024.
So, with those three factors, we can assume that your number is very much at risk.
June 1, 2024 at 00:09
Hello Britsimon, Thank your for you time.
I a winner of DV 2025, and i have already submitted my DS 260 in 16th May but i would like to clarify from you regarding following question:
1. My wife is pregnant and our child is expected to be born around Jul 2024, should we add our child to DS form or not?
2. In DS form we have confused with Current Address of my parent by fill their birth address, is it impact to our case or not?
3. In DS form we’re not mention all our social media like Telegram/ Instagram, is it impacting our case or not?
4. Our case is 9xxxx, how a long does it take for the interview?
Thank you so much!
June 1, 2024 at 09:32
1. Once the child is born you will unlock both your DS260s, add the child to both forms AND create a DS260 for the child.
2. No, but when you unlock the form for the baby, correct that too.
3. Again, that needs to be corrected when you unlock.
4. You didn’t give the region, but if it is AF90000 range then you will have a long wait – over a year.
May 31, 2024 at 16:06
Hi Simon
My case no. Is 2025AS8063 my concern is how soon should i fill the ds260 firm?
May 31, 2024 at 16:14
Unless you have a reason to delay, now.
June 2, 2024 at 12:29
Thanx simon
Actually I m from Nepal what is the chance to get 2nd letter? What is my case no.(High or low)
June 2, 2024 at 13:35
Mid range number probably.
May 31, 2024 at 13:51
Hello BritSimon. I should say thank you first. I sent a mail to Freetown Sierra Leone to accept transfer of my case from Accra Ghana and mentioned the new FAM guide. I received a mail today from Freetown Sierra Leone to request transfer of my case from KCC. Please assist, how do I handle this.
May 31, 2024 at 14:13
So forward their email to kcc asking to move the case!
May 31, 2024 at 14:17
Also please give me some detail on what their reply said, and your case number. This could be important for others.
June 3, 2024 at 23:06
HI SIMMON, Thank you for precious advice. I’m DV 2024 my case number is EU47700 I’m French. Do you think I can transfer embassy like in Africa to see if I can get current and get ma second letter and have my Visa approve? If yes what embassy will be the best please? I really want to have my green card. Thank you for the answer!
June 4, 2024 at 10:16
Your case number is probably too high. You can’t have an interview unless your case number is current. Transferring to another embassy doesn’t change that.
May 29, 2024 at 03:43
Hello sir Good afternoon
I’m from Nepal I apply the EDV many times but never WIN
May 29, 2024 at 19:00
It’s a lottery. Keep trying.
May 23, 2024 at 15:51
Dear Brit
I was selected for Dv2025. I have the CN EU 7xxx and my passport expire in july 2025. Do you recommend to complete Ds260 with my current passport or should I renew it and then complete the application? Thanks in advance.
May 23, 2024 at 22:19
Use the current passport and show the new one at the interview.
May 20, 2024 at 16:51
Hi sir,
I hope you are doing well. Quick question I forgot to add two countries that I visited during the last 5 years. Do you think I need to contact Kcc to update the information knowing I submitted my ds 260 on may 6th and I am dv 2025.
Another question how’s Paris embassy in terms of interview?
Thanks for your help.
May 20, 2024 at 17:26
If they are “non terrorist” countries – I would not unlock for that.
Paris is fine.
May 20, 2024 at 17:31
Many thanks for your quick reply. I confirm no ‘terrorist country’ the countries are USA and Canada.
So if I understood I can modify the information during interview, right ?
Have a nice day sir.
May 20, 2024 at 19:38
No problem
May 13, 2024 at 17:41
Hi, do I have a chance to get invite to interview? (2025AS000252xx)
What about having a valid tourist visa does that make my travel to the states and adjust my status be helpful?
Please advise.
May 13, 2024 at 18:25
Too early to know about your case – it is probably quite high, but we don’t know selectee numbers yet.
AOS has some advantages, but entering on a tourist visa with intent to adjust is a desperate last option if your embassy sucks.
May 7, 2024 at 18:43
Question – I have accidently deleted my confirmation numner document and everytime I do the forgot confirmation window – it coems up as invalid. I guess that means I have not been selected?
May 8, 2024 at 23:04
No, it means you are not entering the correct info.
May 6, 2024 at 15:34
Hi Simon,
Just a concern, was successful for DV2025 with case AF58***. My worry is on how soon should i fill DS260(does early submission increase my chances)
Also we were not legally married but I have already initiated the process, we already have a child that I had included, are there chances of my wife inclusion to be declined?
Lastly, from your experience and history is case no AF58*** a risky slot?
Thankyou.
May 6, 2024 at 20:42
1. You could delay a bit because you will be waiting for your number
2. You’ll be OK
3. No
May 6, 2024 at 09:10
Hi Simon,
Firstly, I want to thank you for all this great work you do and for all the guidance you provide.
My fiance got selected for the DV lottery 2025, we were planning to get married in October, but after reading your posts, I think we will move it up and then complete the DS-260. We are both F1 students working in the US, and plan to go the AOS route. I had a couple of questions
1. Does it matter how early we fill the DS-260? His number is quite high (13,000 range) and in Asia.
2. He got arrested for a drug related charge, but the charge was dismissed and he got an expungement, will this affect his chances for the green card?
May 6, 2024 at 11:59
1. In AOS cases the DS260 is optional. You should not file it until you understand the process better – which you will learn with the link I will give you below.
2. It should not be a problem since the charge was dismissed.
May 6, 2024 at 04:54
HI SIMON , I have won the edv 2025 but my concern is have made mistake on my foreign state chargeability instead of Nepal i put Australia .since i was residing on Australia. Is there any chances i should further go ahead. Thank you for your response .
May 6, 2024 at 11:43
No, unless you were married to an Australian at the time of entry, you should not proceed as disqualification is certain. There is no fix for this.
May 5, 2024 at 12:52
Hi Simone!
Thanks for the help!
What are the steps if you have been selected to the DV lottery and you are currently living in the US legally under TPS status? Would the process to get the green card be faster?
May 5, 2024 at 14:50
A person in the USA on a legal status can “adjust status”.
great info about that process here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2025-aos-adjustment-of-status-process-only.348160/
January 6, 2024 at 11:19
Hi Simone,
Thank for your analysis and help.
I am a winner of dv 2024, from France and currently in the US under F1 visa.
Family situation : My spouse is still based in France and my kids are in the us with me. My spouse has the F2 visa he still based in France for work and come to visit sometime.
Initially I planed to do an AOS as we live here and my spouse has a F2 visa. Giving my case number is in the highest range based on your projection I think it will be safe for all of us to go for a CP.
My worry is that I have not filled the ds260 yet and planned to renew my visa first before filling it. I have the below question and will appreciate your help/recommendation
1. From your perspective for CN EU35xxx, if I fill the ds260 for 5 people in February will there be a risk for a CP?
2. I think my case will be current May/June, therefore filling in Feb leaves KCC at least 3 month to process. What do you think?
3. My spouse is currently in the state and we though of doing the medical visit here with an assigned doctor for AOS. If we get the medical visit result in the US can it be used for CP in France or are we required to do it again in France?
4. Given my family situation described above, do you think it is a good idea for my spouse to join us for an AOS?
Regards
January 6, 2024 at 15:41
1. There is “some” risk of course, but not because of the late submission.
2. I think your case will be later than that, but either way there is enough time to process the DS260.
3. It would have to be redone in France.
4. It’s your decision.
January 3, 2024 at 12:13
Hi Simon.
I’ve played DV 2025 but I have two concerns:
1. I am a former recipient of the State Department exchange program with the J1 visa. this visa makes me ineligible for immigration for 2 years after the end of my program (my program ended in October 2022).
a) If I am selected in May 2024, do I have to wait until November 2024 to fill out the ds 260?
b) Wouldn’t being selected in May make me ineligible for an immigrant visa?
2. by mistake, i interchanged 2 letters in my surname. Instead of OuédrAOgo, i wrote OuedrOAgo. Is this going to be a problem?

Hello
How r u doing sir I hope u r doing great
My sister’s 13 weeks old baby has no details on her DS260 form, her case is currently at the embassy, she emailed the visa unit of Nairobi a couple of weeks ago to unlock her forms to add the baby but they’re not responding and the appointment is on 9th Jan 2024
What do u think should be done before the appointment.
Thank you sir.
January 2, 2024 at 14:13
The baby is 3 months old. That means there was time to fix the DS260 before the case got scheduled. That is what your sister should have done. Now she will have to discuss with the embassy before the interview or at the interview.
December 16, 2023 at 11:46
Hi Simon.
I got my 2NL yesterday, interview slated for 15th Feb.
I had earlier applied for a C1D visa & the interview is slated for 8th January.
1. Should I cancel my interview for C1D or reschedule it?
2. Can getting the C1D visa in January affect my interview in Feb?
3. I am trying to register for the interview in Feb but after logging into the website it only shows User account name & email. Does it mean it is ok?
December 16, 2023 at 19:56
1. Your decision.
2. No
3. I don’t know the system used by each embassy.
December 10, 2023 at 13:23
Hi Simon!
Can the number of family be the reason of visa denials in DV lottery. For example if family number is 4 or 5 including parents?
December 10, 2023 at 16:42
No
November 27, 2023 at 09:49
Hello Brit,
I applied for wife and myself for the DV 2025, each as the main applicant and each as the derivative of the other (meaning 2 entries for the DV 2025 for us). Unfortunately, I didn’t add my wife’s middle for either of the entries; neither as the main applicant nor the derivative. In the event we are selected from any of the entries, will there be a remedy to rectify the error or this mistake is unpardonable of the DV lottery? Note: All her documents include the middle name which I omitted.
November 27, 2023 at 17:54
If selected you will complete an application form called the DS260, and you would make the correction there.
November 6, 2023 at 19:37
Hi Simon,
Entering DV2025 lottery in the Oceania pool. I am currently in the USA on a non-immigrant O1 working visa. For question 8 in the application I have to put my mailing address. That may well change in the USA over time, so can I put my family home address in NZ, as that will stay constant?
For question 9 it asks me the “country where you live today”. It says the country of eligibility is not related to where you live. I understand that as I am eligible as a NZ citizen, but currently am in the USA as I am filling in this form. Do I put the answer as USA for this? Or can I write NZ? I would likely go back to NZ if I was successful to do the interview, rather than adjust status in the US.
Thanks so much for advice – I must almost be the last one to complete it!
November 7, 2023 at 09:43
You would normally write your USA address.
You can choose which method to process, AOS or in your home country. That is not limited by the address.
October 21, 2023 at 13:58
Hello Mr Simon, my case number 2024AS15XXX, when I can expect my 2NL? I unlocked my DS260 form in October and made some changes to my DS 260 form in first week of October and resubmitted, will it be issue for my 2NL? My Embasy is Colombo in Sri Lanka, What are the documents I should submit after receiving 2NL?
October 21, 2023 at 14:51
It will be some months before your case number is current. In the meantime you can read the instructions including the embassy specific instructions, and that will make clear what documents you will need.
October 5, 2023 at 02:10
Hi Simon!
Have a questions about adding children for DV form. My friend divorced and he has 2 son under 21 and unmarried. But unfortunately he can’t get in touch with his children over the years. Because his wife took his children and gone. He remarried and wants to apply for GC on this year. As you know the instructions said you should add all your children to your form even if you were divorced. And also need to upload required photos to be eligible for GC but he doesn’t have access to get his children’s photos. What he should do in this case? Can he upload the older picture of his kids? Is this going to make his case ineligible when he is going to be the winner?
Regards,
JK

You should not proceed with the process – you obviously didn’t follow the critical instructions and you will be disqualified.

Hi Simon, this one is my second comment since the first seem to be disappear
I’m an applicant of 2024, I got an appointment interview which will be on October 05, 2023 so I have to gone through process but unfortunately during the medical examination I encountered abnormal sign on my lung which will cause the delay of my interview. Anyways, via my discussion with responding doctor said applicant suppose to get the second interview date before the old one expired but right now almost the day come but I haven’t got any notified so I decided to contact again to the hospital but doctor said that as via the email, embassy claim that they haven’t seen my name on their system list. So I called and discuss with the call center of my embassy they suggested me to ask the question directly through their email but the worried point is that my first interview is almost arrive but I haven’t got any notice. My question:
1. Should I just go and stick to my first interview date first or will just waiting? 2. Do you have any idea why this is appear to my case because it seems to unclear right now since embassy can’t find my name on their system? (My case number AS8xx) 3. Do you have any form of writing email to embassy?
Thank you for your kindness and I really appreciate your answer

Hello Mr Brit,
I hope you’re doing well.
I have a question :
I live with a woman but we are not married yet. We have two little boys. We want to play DV2025. Can I play as the main single and add my two children as well as can my wife play as the single main and add our two children?
THANKS. God bless you.
September 4, 2023 at 11:44
Yes – that is exactly how you must enter. Both single, both listing the children. If either one is selected, you get married and process together.

Hello Mr. Simon, Thank you for educating the world on the DV Lottery. My Question is: Does Unblocking and updating my DV 260 Application form lead to any delay in processing my case?
August 27, 2023 at 09:10
No – and if you want proof you can read many examples here, including this one.

There is a long time before that case will be ready, so there will be time to judge their performance next year.

Hi Simon,
when filling the Ds260, it asked if you are vaccinated for list of vaccines. I am not vaccinated for corona virus for instance. can I say yes and get vaccinated later after submitting or say no and explain I will get vaccinated.
July 21, 2023 at 00:50
No. Just get vaccinated. It’s required. Don’t lie.
