Hi Simon,
Once in the US do I need to update my address with USCIS for every person on my case or once for the principle applicant would be enough to update it for everyone else?
thanks,
Yazan
September 1, 2023 at 13:59
Each person should update their address with USCIS. BUT that won’t change the delivery address for the GC and SSN.
September 1, 2023 at 08:24
So, I want to know if a selectee can be denied a visa based on an inaccurate information he/she provided in a previous years entry?
September 1, 2023 at 13:58
Normally not, unless the information was part of some identified fraud scheme.
September 1, 2023 at 06:04
Hello Brit simon I am an AF 488XX winner I submitted my DS 260 a little late in AUGUST. I wanted to know if I am not late and that my case number will be current when the visa form containing my case number will be published
September 1, 2023 at 13:57
You are not too late, but may be delayed somewhat because of your late submission.
August 31, 2023 at 16:06
Hi Brit, I would like to ask for your guidance. My husband is a DV2024 winner. Africa and in the 65K group. We came to the US on a TN Visa from Canada on 1 June of this year though. What do you suggest we do? Ask for an adjustment of Status or just keep on the Consular route? Also do you think we even stand a chance with a CN 65K and the consulate of choice was Vancouver?
August 31, 2023 at 16:36
Your number is probably not as high as you think.
AOS will probably be a good path for you – go and read the excellent advice from Sm1smom in the link below (pay special attention to the links from the first post in that thread – everything you need is there.

Hi Britsimon. CN 2024AF56xxx. I just realized that my date of birth in the birth certificate of my daughter has a slight change. Instead of September when I was born as per all my documents and those of my other three kids, I am born there in July. Do I have to worry over this?
August 31, 2023 at 10:21
Probably not a problem, but you have plenty of time to wait, so why not get a corrected version.
August 30, 2023 at 18:43
Hi dear Simon,,
My case number is AS202414xxx from Iran,,,I asked KCC to unlock my DS260 and I changed my current address to Canada and I asked them to change my embassy from Ankara to Montreal,,
They answered me as following:
Thank you for your inquiry.
Based on the information you have provided, your interview location has been changed from Nairobi to Montreal. The new interview location will not appear on your DS-260, but will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again at [email protected]. You will also need to request that KCC unlock your DS-260, so that you can update your application with your new address. (Please note that Post Office Boxes and mailing addresses in care of another person do not justify a change of interview location.)
So,based on their answer I have couple of questions
1- they answered that they changed mine from Nairobi To Montreal while my first embassy in my DS 260 is Ankara.is it just a mistake in answering me or they taransfered me and maybe some other cases from Ankara to Nairobi for some reasons?
2- if they decided to consider my first embassy Nairobi,,is Nairobi a good embassy or a busy one?
3- they asked that when I received interview notification to check my (ESC) page to verify that my appointment is scheduled for the right post(embassy) and if for any reason it is not,,I have to contact KCC to correct it.
The point here is that I am moving to Canada and changing my Embassy to get a better chance for interview but if they make a mistake in scheduling my interview and consider my first embassy,Ankara, as the location of my interview, there migh be a high chance that I dont get the chance for interview.
Based on your exprience,,what should I do for this matter?
August 30, 2023 at 19:05
1. Probably just a mistake.
2. Terrible.
3. Wait and see what happens once you are current.
August 30, 2023 at 18:34
Hello Simon!
I have been following you for the past five years now watching all your videos, following all your instructions but still no luck. Can you please help me and do my dv entry for me this year please 🙏🏾🙏🏾 maybe I’ve been doing it wrong 😑 please Simon 🙏🏾🙏🏾
August 30, 2023 at 19:04
I don’t offer any one on one help with entries – but it’s important to follow the instructions, and make sure you have a good photo. With some luck, you’ll be selected.
August 30, 2023 at 17:22
Hi Simon!
Please can you clarify me on this
I played the DV in 2019 while single, then in January 2020 I got married to a US green card holder, then in that same 2020 around May my results for DV 2019 came out and I won, while filling my (DS260 or 360)Sorry for this I’m alittle confused)form I mentioned married cos when the results came out I was actually married even though I played as single.
Then I traveled to the USA and met my partner but things didn’t turn out well and we separated.
Now my worry is after I complete my 5years stay in the USA and apply for a citizenship will I be denied coz I’m not longer with my husband?.
Mind you I came to the USA cos I won the DV even though I was married already but my spouse isn’t the one who brought me here.
While waiting for your reply..
Thank you.
August 30, 2023 at 17:38
Your status from the DV win has nothing to do with your marriage – so no risk.
August 30, 2023 at 14:25
Hi Brit,
If I state on my documents that I’ll be residing at a certain address (in NYC for example) and at my point of entry, I change my mind and enter through another airport (let’s say Nashville) will I be denied entry or it wouldn’t be a big deal?
August 30, 2023 at 16:36
No problem.
August 30, 2023 at 11:43
Hi Simon,
I am a DV2023 Selectee. I have been in the United States for four months but I am still having an issue with receiving my social security card. The SSA submitted four different applications for it but to no avail. In the last application, they addressed the card to the SSA. When that didn’t work, they told me they don’t know what else they can do. Do you know someone who underwent the same issue? If yes, what did they do?
Could you please also suggest a lawyer that could help me with this?
P.S. I used to be a student in the US so I have an SSN. I need the card to renew my driver’s license as I haven’t lived in the states for the past 6 years.
Thank you in advance for your help.
August 30, 2023 at 13:56
This is not my normal area of concern, but to be clear you already have your SSN, it should not change. You might want a reprint of the card itself, but that is not strictly necessary for DMV.
You don’t need a lawyer, you just need to ask the SSA to give you a reprinted card (removing the work auth wording perhaps)
August 30, 2023 at 09:35
Hey britsimon,
So i’m a Dv 2024 winner, but i have an issue with my documnets. All my school documents include my initial (Musa .L. Jaiteh) but all my national document dont include this initial ( musa Jaiteh). Hope this wont be an issue, as i have my photo on all of these documents.
August 30, 2023 at 09:41
Not a problem.
August 30, 2023 at 09:34
Hi Brit, I’m DV 2024 selectee. My case is current. I submitted my DS260 on 6th May 2023, however I contacted KCC three weeks ago to reopen my application to update my travel document. I submitted the update last week. My case has been assigned a new submission date, I want to know if it’s going to affect the receipt of my 2NL. Thank you.
August 30, 2023 at 09:41
Your case has not “been assigned a new submission date” – that is a bullshit rumor.
You can ask KCC if your case is processed. The 2NL depends on which embassy you are assigned to.
August 30, 2023 at 11:27
It looks like login in DS260 is impossible today. Always saying it does not match. Of course yesterday I loged.
Is someone has the same issue
August 30, 2023 at 08:16
Hello Brit. I have a question for my husband. We both have green cards, he got it through me. I am getting my USA passport in 2025. In that moment we will be married in USA for 3 years. Is he automatically allowed to apply for the passport as well? Even though I only had a green card in that 3 years? Thank you so much! Have a nice day!
August 30, 2023 at 09:30
I only answer DV lottery questions.
August 29, 2023 at 22:12
Greetings Mr. Simon,
I’m a 2024 DV Lottery winner.
I married my husband in November while waiting for the DV results. My husband has 2 Children whom he adopted before I met him.
Should I list those 2 kids in my DS 260 as my children since I got married to their adoptive father or I should say I don’t have any children being that am not their biological mother and my name doesn’t appear on their birth certificates? Technically, they are my step children and I would love to immigrate with them and my husband.
Also keep in mind that my husband has already listed the 2 kids as his children in his DS 260 since he is the adoptive father on the kids’ birth certificates.
Thank you.
August 29, 2023 at 23:49
You list step children, yes. However, they can only be treated as your husband’s children if he has legal adoption paperwork from at least 2 years before the interview.
August 29, 2023 at 15:44
Hello Brit one question i completed ds 260 and put the current job that i have. But in a couple of months probably 2 months i will change my job and start a new one do i need to unlock ds 260 and change that information?Thank you Best Regards
August 29, 2023 at 17:09
No
August 29, 2023 at 15:13
Hi Simon,
During Dv2024 entry submission I have entered everything correctly, but after pressing “submit” button, instead of confirmation number I got empty webpage with some kind of error message (unfortunatelly I don’t remember error code).
I am wondering what should I have done in this situation – submit the same entry second time (because first submission failed) or just try again next year (to avoid entering twice)?
August 29, 2023 at 17:08
You should have submitted again. The instructions made clear that if such a thing happened and you did not get the confirmation number, then your entry was not completed and you should try again.
August 29, 2023 at 13:50
Hi Brit,
After the interview, I asked from the interviewer about the original documents which they took from us. He said that those will be handed over on the same day that we come to collect our passports.
As you can remember, could you please let me know whether the original police reports will be given to us as well on this day.
August 29, 2023 at 17:07
I don’t know what your embassy will do. Some people report never getting their originals back.
August 29, 2023 at 13:10
Hi Simon, I had my DV interview on Monday and the officer told me that my visa was approved and provided me the necessary information on how to collect my passport, but today when i check my Status it shows “Refused”. can you advice here on what the issue might be?
August 29, 2023 at 17:07
I can’t guess why that might be.
September 5, 2023 at 17:27
If the message REFUSED STATUS is short it means your case is closed, but if the message is long you are in refused 221
August 29, 2023 at 09:34
Hi BritSimon,
If you please I have a question:
In the DS-260 I tried to write my name as it is on my passport, but the space in the form is not sufficient to write my full name (it is a lengthy name), there are 3 letters missing from the last name (not the family name) and the system won’t accept any more letters.
Can this be considered a problem?
If yes, how can I solve this issue?
Thank you very much for your responce.
August 29, 2023 at 11:05
If you have to miss some letters, miss them from the middle name.
August 29, 2023 at 05:19
Greetings, Mr. Simon,
I am writing to inform you that my brother has won the DV 2024 lottery. His CN is AF118k. However, there are some complications. During the application process, his information was filled out by someone else, and his place of birth was incorrectly listed as Guinea. Similarly, his country of nationality was marked as Guinea, although he was actually born in Guinea and later moved to The Gambia with our parents when he was a child. As a result, he possesses Gambian national documents, and all of his school records indicate his Gambian nationality.
We are uncertain about the best course of action to navigate this situation. Should he obtain a Guinean passport or a Gambian passport? Furthermore, could you please advise us on the potential risks associated with each option?
Thank you for your assistance.
August 29, 2023 at 10:59
He was born in Guinea, and I assume his birth cert says that – right? In that case there is no problem.
Nationality is not important.
August 30, 2023 at 09:22
What passport would you advise him to acquire in this case? as all his should documents says he is a Gambian national.
August 30, 2023 at 09:30
School****
August 30, 2023 at 09:31
I say “nationality is not important” and you come back talking about nationality. That’s frustrating.
The one document that is important – the birth certificate. Does it give the correct place of birth, or not?
August 31, 2023 at 16:25
I am nearly sure you cheated during registration. Plenty people use that way while registration then after pretend they mistook, but no.
I knew someone he entered the lottery more than hundred thousands to increase his chance with different information. Luckily for him he did not win
August 29, 2023 at 01:15
Hi Simon,
Thanks your effort and sharing for DV.
I have the question about increasing the number of winner for dv2024.
For DV2024, it is the first year that passport is not required for the entry.
Do you think that the government predicts that maybe there will be some issue for some contries to get passport. As the result, they increase the number of the winner for dv2024?
Thank you
August 29, 2023 at 10:54
Maybe.
August 28, 2023 at 17:54
Hi Simon,
I was selected for the 2023 DV lottery (2023AF17…), and I’ve been able to apply for adjustment of status (AOS) for both me and my wife here in New Orleans, LA. Our interview was done on the 07/06/2023, however we had not paid the DV Lottery Processing Fee as we did not sure if we needed to. On the 08/04/2023 we received a email from the KCC, that the USCIS requested our case to be transferred to them and that we had to pay the KCC a processing fee of $330. We did this but are not sure if we have to send the receipt to the our local USCIS office? Our USCIS office has not issued a request for further evidence (RFE) from us, and we are still waiting for a decision on our AOS case.
My questions are:
1. If we should send the recipt notice of the KCC fee payment, how would we compile the formal documentation so they know it’s attached to our case.
2. Do you have any estimate on how long a decision can take after interviewing?
3. Lastly, if we have not had a decision by 09/30/2023 or after, are we still in pending status since we have had everything done or should we assume a denial?
Thank you in advance! Terence
August 28, 2023 at 22:09
1. I would suggest you make that payment immediately You have no time to waste, the mistake might have already cost you your GCs. As for how to inform them – I don’t know.
2. Varies, but yours has already been too long.
3. If not adjusted by October 1 your case is over.
August 29, 2023 at 09:57
Thanks for the response. Yes we’ve already made the payment and received the receipt notice via email on Aug 8th. A last question, Would the KCC share this information with the USCIS (Are their systems linked) ?
August 29, 2023 at 10:51
No. They mail you a receipt which you are supposed to include in your filing packet. That can take some time – Mom may track the time. However, if you get lucky it might be enough to trigger sending the file to USCIS. But still you must find a way to get the receipt to the IO as soon as possible. Visas are running out, so every day longer is a risk.
August 29, 2023 at 11:14
Thank you.
August 28, 2023 at 22:11
I gave you the link before and Mom’s instructions are clear – I don’t know why you missed this.
August 28, 2023 at 13:29
Hi Brit. I have a question about the embassy transfer. I am a DV2024 winner from Georgia studying in Europe (Poland). I have not applied for the temporary residence permit in Poland yet. Do the European embassies accept the transfer of the interview of the applicants with study visa but without residence permit (since I indicated Tbilisi embassy in my DS form)?
Thank you.
August 28, 2023 at 22:06
I can’t be 100% sure on what a particular embassy will require.
August 28, 2023 at 07:49
Is first entry email of dv2024 mandatory to use when we fill ds260 form.because I Forgot my email adress
August 28, 2023 at 09:47
No.
August 28, 2023 at 17:55
Hello Mr Simon.. I hope you are well.
I didn’t answer the question “is your mother’s address the same as your father’s” on ds 260 because of a technical issue in the website the question disappeared and only appears in the step of reviewing the answers of DS-260 form… Do I need to unlock DS-260 or is it fine?
Thank you in advance
August 28, 2023 at 22:10
No need to unlock.
August 27, 2023 at 22:07
Hi simon – AS209** from Nepal, interview sheduled for 1st week of september at KDU.
circumstances: –
1.having a sponcer(my new friend) who is different person than i mentioned in DS-260 form. Is it okey to attend interview with new sponcer document and explain or i must email now to the consular for this changes ? thank you !
August 28, 2023 at 09:44
No need to email first.
August 29, 2023 at 01:00
Hi Brit, thanks for. your work, I have a question for you, my number is DV 24EU49xxx, the embassy in Warsaw, my number is high and I filled out and sent DS260 on 05/07/23, later I realized that I made a mistake that needs to be corrected by asking KSS to unblock my profile will my case shift to the end of the list, wouldn’t the date of corrections count as the date the DS was shipped? Is there any chance I can get an invitation with my high EU number, thanks in advance.

Hello simon
From jordan , i would like to ask if i required to open my ds260 , maybe it will affect the process Interview date ??
August 27, 2023 at 14:52
No impact.
August 27, 2023 at 10:33
Hello Simon, Thank you for the great job you do.
My Embassy is Nairobi and Case No; 2024AF612XX.
I have 3 derivative family members and am planning to Change our interview Location From Nairobi Embassy to Kuala Lumpur Embassy In Malaysia since Nairobi is becoming consistently disappointing.
My Question Is; Can I just Unlock All our family members’ DS 260 forms and change our Interview location from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur with out us currently living in Malaysia?
Keep in mind that in all our DS260 forms, our Current address is Nairobi and we are not going to change that.
My plan is the 4 of us to board a flight and attend our interview from Kuala Lumpur Embassy if successfully changed.
Also, do you think Kuala Lumpur embassy is a good option to consider for such a change when it comes to the speed at processing cases?
Thank you.
August 27, 2023 at 12:43
First, you cannot update the embassy choice after the initial selection.
Second, they select the location based on your current address.
Third some embassies will not accept your case until you prove that you are resident in their area.
August 28, 2023 at 15:08
Hi Simon, does that mean that some embassies may require a valid residency permit in the country of residence, say for, six months ahead of the interview date?
My second question is, based on your educated opinion from previous years, how is the US embassy in Stockholm performance?
August 28, 2023 at 22:06
Stockholm is fine. Not sure whether they will expect a residency permit or not.
August 27, 2023 at 07:24
Hey Simon hope you’re keeping well! I was wondering how I can keep track of a particular embassy’s performance in the upcoming months in terms of how many interviews are being accepted by it?
Also, in your educated opinion, is Frankfurt a well performing embassy?
Thank you.
August 27, 2023 at 09:11
Frankfurt is fine. Once we get the CEAC data for DV2024, you will be able to track it here:
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY23.html
August 27, 2023 at 06:21
Hi dear Brit,
I want to know that what is the meaning of i-197 form?
Best regards
August 27, 2023 at 09:09
It is not applicable to DV cases.
August 27, 2023 at 02:33
Dear Brit Simon,
First of all thank you very much for all you do for DV lottery participants.
After being selected I am starting my day with checking your YouTube channel for new video and your blog for new articles or comments. This helps me to feel myself staying in DV-lottery atmosphere and waiting time for interview becomes more interesting.
Hence your videos and articles are very important for all of us.
Since I was selected I am trying to figure out my chances to get my interview. I am doing different kinds of calculations and data extrapolations from the previous years. My CN is 2024EU31XXX and my embassy is Yerevan.
While filling DS-260 in late May I changed my embassy from Warsaw to Yerevan as I moved to Yerevan from Russia and because it is not an easy process to get visas to travel to Europe for interview.
My first question is the following. In your last video you showed a table with your projection of case numbers density for Europe which equals to 33%. Could you please tell me how exactly you got this number (33%). And how can I calculate to predict chances for my CN?
And the second question is if the US embassy in Yerevan works at the same level of speed as for DV2023 will there be a very good chance for me to get my interview in spring or summer 2024? Just prognosis by your experience. Thank you sir!
August 27, 2023 at 09:05
1. I used some logic to estimate the number of cases based on the selectee numbers, highest known case number and derivative rate. But the case density will be higher in the lower case numbers, so I suggest you wait to see the actual data in January.
2. Maybe – again – we will know more in January.
August 27, 2023 at 01:12
Hi Britsimon. What does it mean when you enter a corresponding case number to check your visa status and the system tells u you “Your search has returned multiple results .Please select the Case Number to display the status”
August 27, 2023 at 09:02
Not sure what system you are talking about.
August 27, 2023 at 15:25
The ceac site when you enter your CN to track your visa status
August 28, 2023 at 09:43
I have never seen such a message there, so I have no idea what you are doing.
It’s the simplest thing to check. You enter your case number without leading zeros – such as 2023AF1234, solve the captcha and get the result.
September 5, 2023 at 17:15
Sir he is right I see a similar thing
August 26, 2023 at 15:05
Hi Brit, are we still emailing the documents to KCC before they ask us to submit? Thanks!!
August 27, 2023 at 08:59
No.
There are no documents needed in advance this year.
August 26, 2023 at 14:17
Good day, Brit. I hope you are doing well.
Is it usually possible to change the embassy in EU region with only having a tourist visa? Which embassies usually accept such transfers?
August 27, 2023 at 08:59
If this is a DV2023 case, then the chance is gone. As for DV2024, I don’t maintain details on such embassies.
August 26, 2023 at 01:17
Hello Simon,
Thanks God that I finally have received my visa 🥰 and a big thanks for you also for your precious information!
I have a question now regarding the port of entry, do all airports are considered port of entry? So I can book a flight to any airport to the US?
Also, I already have a host, but if I find a job opportunity now before leaving my country, can I change my address or my state without any problems?
Thanks in advance ❤
August 27, 2023 at 08:57
Any US airport you are allowed to land at is a valid POE. You will be processed there, and then any connecting flight is “domestic”.
Yes you can change the address. Your last chance to change the GC delivery address is by changing the address at the POE.
August 27, 2023 at 11:14
That’s great!! Thanks a lot for every single information you gave to us,
Wish me a good luck in the US 😍
August 27, 2023 at 12:44
Best of luck!

when I check my case status its showing up “Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number”.
can you please help me to resolve this issue
August 27, 2023 at 08:55
The CEAC system was broken for a couple of weeks, its fixed now. No DV2024 cases yet though.
August 25, 2023 at 19:30
Hello my dear I’ve been watching your videos since year I’m big fan
actually I’ve had my interview since June 22nd
everything went so well he retained my 2 passports (the old one already expires I had played with that and the new one) but he gave me blue paper saying my case on AP I think it’s due to the mistake that the hospital made on postnom instead of Mpumbue They wrote mumbwe, In the end of interview he said they will call me he didn’t tell me anything else he kept all my documents still at embassy till now, last time I checked my case seen update on July 24th
Id like how long take a case AP
Do I still have chance getting a visa?
I’m student and single
August 27, 2023 at 08:54
You still have a chance – all you can do is hope.
August 25, 2023 at 19:15
Hello Brit,
I have someone who has agreed to fill I-134 form for me.
So my question is :
1. What is the appropriate time to fill the form? Should I wait until I get the interview date or he can fill for me in advance?
2. Apart from the I-134 form, are there any additional documents I may need from the sponsor again?
3. Do I have to unlock DS260 to change self-financing to sponsorship details or i should wait and make the changes at the embassy?
Thank you for being there for us.
August 27, 2023 at 08:54
1. Wait until you receive the 2NL
2. 1040/Ws, recent payslips, photo ID.
3. There are no changes to make for that.
August 25, 2023 at 11:30
Hi Birt,
We are here in US since Aug 9 2023 , we are four in our family. My spouse(primary) and my kids received their SSN three days back where as I have not yet received so far.
I was not aware that SSN is auto applied as soon as we land here. And when I reached to the SSN office (Brunswick, NJ) here they informed me that Immigrant Visa holder should get their Card automatically within 30 days on their arrival. And hence denied to take my application. Same as they said all others got the card but I didn receive yet.
So could you please advice what can be done from my end to have the SSN application followed up or where to check the status of my SSN card.
Regards
Sharmi

The SSN should be sent automatically *IF* you selected that option in your DS260. You haven’t been here long, so wait at least another week, then go back to the SSA if you have not received it.

Hello Brit!
Could you clarify on the police certificate issue:
Is it true that if I lived in other country for more than a year and have never been there anymore my police certificate from that country shall be valid up until I cross the border of the country again?
I got confused cause that what I thought the point is until I saw someone saying that in anyway this certificate shall be valid only for 6 months no matter if you visited this country again or not.
August 25, 2023 at 11:14
That is true, BUT getting a new police cert may still be worthwhile to make life simpler.

Hi there,
I am a DV2024 winner. My CN is EU 50***. Do you think I could ever get a chance for this year?
Thank you so much
August 27, 2023 at 08:47
Maybe – it is too early to know. We will have a better idea in January.
August 24, 2023 at 18:31
Hello Mr Simon I hope you are well
I am a DV 2024 winner. my CN is 17K Africa, living in Qatar.
i Submitted My DS 260 on 13th May I unlocked it and resubmitted it on 25th May later on, at the end of July I discovered other mistakes I unlocked again and resubmitted on the 1st August. will that affect the scheduling of my interview?. the mistakes were documents for vaccines (I Answered yes first), misspellings in schools names and my mother’s last name, dates of aquiring my education certificates (I made a mistake in the day of aquiring my certificates), place of birth (I put the city instead of the small village where i was born, as in my passport).
August 25, 2023 at 11:11
Probably not. You can email KCC to ask the status, or just wait until the next VB and see if you are current.
August 25, 2023 at 13:51
Regarding the inquiry to the CCC, what is my status, my question to the КCC was:
Please, confirm if my DS260 is processed?
Their answer was:
“Thank you for your inquiry.
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvprogram.state.gov.”
August 25, 2023 at 14:06
In the sense, do not expect any serious information to be given to you by the Commission.
I have number 5K and my DS260 should have already been processed, but you can see for yourself how and what they answer from the КCC.
August 27, 2023 at 08:47
Yes, processed.

Hi there,
Travelling to the States soon to activate my Green Card with the Visa issued. I want to know we only there for 2 weeks and then returning to SA and then start making plans etc. the actual Green Card will be sent to friends of mine in the USA and we’ll get it from them when they visit SA. Question, is that a problem?
August 24, 2023 at 09:29
No problem.
August 24, 2023 at 02:31

Dear BritSimon,
I am the winner of DV 2024AF26xxx. In filing DS260 I chose self-sponsorship.
How much do I need to have in my account before I can embark on self-financing aside property or assets?
please advise me, Do you think it is advisable to do self-financing or I should get someone to fill in the I-134 form?
Also is it possible that address of receiving a green card and Social Security number in the US be different from the sponsor assuming I get someone to sponsor me?
Just want to be sure.
Thank you for understanding.

Hi Simon, please am 2024 Dv winner from Ghana and my CN is 189xx and chose Togo for my interview. when am I likely to receive my first NL mail.Again my mother’s name oh my birth certificate is different from what she uses now on the national card after marriage and I used the one on the national card for my DS-260, will let affect me.
August 29, 2023 at 11:06
I don’t know when you will get a 2NL. If you live in Ghana they will ignore your embassy choice.
The mothers name is not a problem, but there was a place where you should list her name at birth (her birth).

Hi mr simon,
Im currently in UAE living here for the past 9 months I’m a dv lottery winning and I’ll be leaving here for good next month, but my worry is if I get the police certificate before leaving it will expire after 3 months. What should I do?
Secondly do my derivative (husband) also require to get a police certificate from UAE since he’s been living here for the past 4yrs
August 23, 2023 at 09:27
1. The police certificates can be up to 2 years old.
2. Yes
August 24, 2023 at 14:42
Sorry the police certificate is valid for only 3 month, thats my worry
August 25, 2023 at 11:10
I understand, but the US immigration rules (in the instructions you should have read), make it clear they accept police certs up to 2 years old.

Hi Brit,
Me & spouse had the interview on 15th August in US Embassy – Sri Lanka. After the interview, our passports were taken and we were given a letter saying “Congratulations! Your Immigrant Visa has been tentatively approved”.
Could you please be kind enough to explain what will be process ahead.
Thanks
August 23, 2023 at 09:25
You will hopefully receive your passport with the visas, which will have an expiry date. You must make arrangements to enter the USA before the expiry date.

Hi Brit, Thankyou so much for this support.
I am preparing for my interview for DV 2023- The Australian embassy lists a “citizenship Certificate” as one of the documents to bring to the interview. (but I’m wondering if that’s necessary in my case as I have a passport and a birth certificate that confirm my Australian identity status? Any help would be greatly appreciated?
August 23, 2023 at 09:24
Probably not since you did not naturalize.

Hello Brit. I am the winner of the dv2024 Cuba. I have an appointment in October and it turns out that when I went to do the medical check-up they told me to have a sputum test, which takes approximately 54 days and affects my interview date, since the results will be beyond the date scheduled for my appointment at the embassy. I wanted to know what procedure I should follow to reschedule my appointment and if this is possible with the diversity visa. I would appreciate if you have ever seen a case like this and if you can give me an answer. Thank you so much
August 27, 2023 at 08:53
The normal procedure is to have the interview and then be on 221g while you are waiting for the results of the test. But discuss it with the embassy.

Hi Brit,
I am winner of DV 2024AF26xxx. I am doing self-financing.
How much do I need to have in my account before I can embark on self-financing?
August 23, 2023 at 09:22
You would generally need to show about $10,000 per person, but this number is not an exact answer. An I-134 would be better.
