Hi ms. Brit
I have some question:
can i change my passport number in ds 260 form because i put zero instead of O in my passport number in ds 260 form?

Hello.
Is it mandatory to fill the ds 260 form of my derivatives.
since they are not immigrating to US with me now.
But soon, they will join me.
Will my ds 260 form be processed by KCC , when my derivatives 260 form
are not yet filled .
Thank you for your help.
November 27, 2019 at 23:50
No it is not mandatory – but bringing them later will be more complex and costly.
November 29, 2019 at 01:18
Hi brit ,
I hope you are fine , I am winning of lottery 2020 & my case number AS000013xx , and I am already submitted my ds260 application at end of September & KCC sent to me email at 5 October to send for them the documents but until now I didn’t send any documents to them & I planning to send to them the required documents at 15 December , is there any problem for delay sending the documents.

November 29, 2019 at 20:26
Dear Brit
I send my birth certificate to KCC in mid of October, then I noticed that there is some error in my place of birth. I correct the translation and resend it again.
My question is that correction could effect to my case?
Should I explain the situation to KCC?
November 30, 2019 at 00:32
Resend all documents if the difference was significant.
November 30, 2019 at 13:00
Hello BritSimon. I’m too now see I also have incorrect translation in sent scan documents. how resend the new documents and what write in letter.
Thanks for your help!
November 30, 2019 at 17:00
Send the same way as you did before.
November 30, 2019 at 13:49
Thanks again. Have I just send my documents as an applicant or send all my family member’s documents too ?
November 30, 2019 at 17:01
You send documents for you and your derivatives. READ the instructions.
November 30, 2019 at 00:51
No – you will just get a later interview, that’s all.
November 30, 2019 at 06:05

November 30, 2019 at 16:53
Case number?
November 27, 2019 at 15:39
Hello, what you think will be like if you get visa, make first entry to US for “look arround” pay all fees to get green card, but later you change your mind and do not want to moove for living in US forever.
You just don’t go back to US after first trip, loose your permanent resident status after one year and that is all? Or it is anything else you need to know? Is there any penalities, fees, travel bans as tourist later or so on ? It is quite hard desicion in our family life. Thank you for your toughts.
November 27, 2019 at 23:52
If you decide not to return it is wise to surrender your GC status, because otherwise you have ongoing responsibilities such as tax filing.
November 27, 2019 at 15:48
Hi mr.Simon, can I apply for a green card after the processing for the DV Lottery 2021 has finished?.Thank you.
November 27, 2019 at 23:52
If selected as a winner, yes.
December 2, 2019 at 19:49
Okay, can you give me the official link of the green card to apply. Thanks.
December 3, 2019 at 02:29
HUH? You wait to see if you are selected. If selected they will give you the information you need.
November 27, 2019 at 17:05
Hi brit
My CN is af28000 I’m from africa i didn’t receive any letter to subscribe my documents
What should i do sir ??
November 27, 2019 at 23:52
You can email KCC.
November 27, 2019 at 22:50
Sir,
If a female won dv with his unwed child and intend to move with him, does the CO ask the authorization of the father before granting the visa?
Help me I have been asked but do not know.
November 28, 2019 at 00:15
Possibly.
November 27, 2019 at 23:15
Hi Simon,
I have been called for an interview in January. If the visa is granted can I request them to travel after the six months period because I have fixed date for my son’s wedding in July who is not travelling with me. Is it possible to make a request on the day of interview?
November 28, 2019 at 00:14
Not really. The visa expiry will be dated as medical date plus 6 months – and cannot be extended. You could delay the interview (and therefore the medical), but that carries some risk.
November 28, 2019 at 01:23
Is there any other option apart from delaying interview. Actually when can i return upon arrival.
November 28, 2019 at 02:39
You can leave immediately after arriving.
November 28, 2019 at 03:03
Thank you for your prompt response very much appreciated. Then how much time do i get to travel back to US
November 28, 2019 at 03:11
Please read the FAQ about entry and absences to get the full understanding.
November 27, 2019 at 23:31
Mr. Brit.
Good to have you back.
November 28, 2019 at 00:12
That’s the nature of IT work sometimes….
November 28, 2019 at 02:21
Hi BritSimon
My wife is a 2020 winner and we have our interview dates come in. My dilemma is that my wife has not worked for almost 10 years so could the CO pick on this or is this a genuine reason to decline?
We migrated from Fiji to NZ 10 years ago and since then she has not worked. We had baby sitting issues and financially i was providing for the family so she was not required to work. Back in Fiji she used to work as a customer service representative.
We have the following documents handy:
i-134 from my brother in USA
we have purchased additional health Insurance for one year
Wifes high school results – completion certificate
our bank balances, House and value of it.
So since she has not worked, could this be a reason to decline? She has completed High school and has some additional certificates in IT education. I am also working in IT.
I am worried that since all documents, bank transaction etc have my name and since she has not worked, they might pick on this.
your thoughts?
November 28, 2019 at 02:40
Worrying over nothing.
November 28, 2019 at 06:22
Dear Mr. Simon
I am principal applicant and selectee for dv 2020 with CN:2020AF00064XXX. In my wife police clearance certificate, there is error in date and month of Birth. When I request for the date and month to be amended, they informed me it will take long. So, what is your advice, shall I wait or for the amended police certificate or send the present one? I am afraid of the time.
November 28, 2019 at 15:44
Your case number means you have months to wait anyway – so why worry about time?
November 28, 2019 at 06:44
Hi Brit,
Can I submit documents before unlocking the ds-260 for amendments?
November 28, 2019 at 15:46
Yes
November 28, 2019 at 06:58
Hello Brit.
1) Do you have the statistics of DV2021?
2) My friend just said all those who registered without their passports in Africa are disqualified and will not participate in the draw. Is it true ?
November 28, 2019 at 11:16
Yes very true. The lottery this year stipulates that all applicants without passports will be automatically disqualified.
November 28, 2019 at 15:56
That is almost true, it does not say “automatically” and it does not say they will not participate in the draw.
November 28, 2019 at 15:47
1. No
2. We don’t know exactly how those cases will be handled.
November 28, 2019 at 07:00

November 28, 2019 at 08:47
Hi Brit,
Big thanks as always for such a useful and amazing service you’re providing here.
My family and I have gone to the US this week to get our Greencards stamped. From what I’ve read it appears you need to spend six months a year at the minimum in the US to keep it active.
Does this also apply for any derivatives? Or just the original winner of the Greencard? Looking to see if my partner and child need to be in the US as much as I do.
Thanks,
Adam
November 28, 2019 at 15:52
A GC holder is expected to live in the USA. It’s not a visiting visa. There is not a minimum amount of time required each year, but eventually someone obviously not living in the USA will be challenged – regardless of winner/derivative.
November 28, 2019 at 09:20
Hello Simon! Has been 7 weeks since I have sent my documents to KCC. What should I do? I haven’t received a confirmation email yet. What kind of email should I send to KCC?
I’m waiting your answer Simon
November 28, 2019 at 15:53
You can email KCC if you want.
November 28, 2019 at 09:33
Hello Simon i have submitted to dv lotteries but the my photo with red background is this means that i am rejected
November 28, 2019 at 15:53

November 28, 2019 at 13:07
Hi brit. Can you please provide me the link of I-134 online form. I didn’t get the actual one. Once i saw that in your video.
November 28, 2019 at 15:57

November 28, 2019 at 13:18
My sponsor has sponsored his father and mother as a tourist visa to care new born baby and he is sponsoring me any risk should I change soonsor
November 28, 2019 at 15:57

November 28, 2019 at 16:42
When did you send documents?
November 28, 2019 at 21:43
I sent the documents on 17 th of October.Do you think it’s too late to be scheduled for a January interview???
November 29, 2019 at 18:11
No, as long as you are current and KCC were satisfied with your documents.
November 30, 2019 at 04:11
I didn’t receive my 2nl and hope to be scheduled for February interview but I unlocked and submitted DS260 on 7th of November ,could it be the reason for not being scheduled for January interview???This is really strange and I wonder why it happened to me.Thanks in advance Brit!!
November 30, 2019 at 04:17
You can email KCC or just remain patient.
December 1, 2019 at 07:25
Hi Simon
How do you know your case number is current in your region?
December 1, 2019 at 17:05
You read and understand the visa bulletin. There is an article explaining that in the FAQ – please read the FAQ.
November 28, 2019 at 20:43
Hi Brit

Thank you.
November 29, 2019 at 00:49

November 29, 2019 at 02:33
Dv 2020 winner, born in Nepal but interview location is in Sydney, his cutoff number will be according to Nepal or Asia, 2nd letter will be sent according to Asia cutoff number or Nepal number which is lesser than total Asia number?
November 30, 2019 at 00:51
Nepal.
December 2, 2019 at 21:34
Hello Brit
Please I want to know if there is a possibility that some CNs could be skipped when they are not ready to present themselves or even may not have processed it at all…I’m asking because of my CN AF000548xx…it seems so far. I want to know the chances involved. Thanks
December 3, 2019 at 02:31
Cases can be skipped, but as soon as those cases are ready they get interviews in a later month. In reality your case number is medium to high, so you will wait some months for interview, and there is no way around that.
November 29, 2019 at 02:42
Happy Thanksgiving sir.
My question is do we need to take the police clearance certificate from age of 16 or from birth? i already applied it with age of 16 can it be a problem?
November 30, 2019 at 00:49
Not reading instructions can be a problem.
November 30, 2019 at 01:40
Dear Sir,
I have read the instructions and did as i understand. because they asked to submit the document for 16 years older persons and didn’t had proper idea about “Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area.”. so i considered that as to include all my residencies after my age of 16 to police clearance certificate request date. is it can be a problem? 🙂
Thanks
November 30, 2019 at 04:14
No
November 29, 2019 at 08:03
Hi Simon – your resource has been a huge help since being selected in May 2019, thank you. Advice please: Submitted my DS260 in June, got request for documentation mid-October. I have everything ready to go, EXCEPT for my police clearance certificate (because of an under-organized police service). Do you advise (1) submitting all documents with an explanatory note re. police certificate delay, or (2) waiting until the certificate arrives, which could be as late as mid-December ?
November 30, 2019 at 00:46
Wait – because their instruction tells you the documents should be complete.
November 29, 2019 at 08:09
Happy Thanksgiving
Hello Simon my CN is AF270** …can you predict when my CN would be current.. Please
Thank you.
November 29, 2019 at 16:45
Nobody yet know next VB of february.I think later march. Be patient
November 29, 2019 at 08:32
Hi Brit ,
Would you also consider and giving an opinion in a case like this, Please:
Selected for Green card sends completed application DS -260 with family status – Single
Later he marries, but also he divorces expressly (all of this within a month -two )
In this case, may he ask KCC to be unlocked his DS 260 in order to change his marital status from Single, through Married and Divorced, and then to be resubmit DS 260
In the current moment the spouse isn’t registered into participant DS-260 and his status is still Single there
It’s be happen prior to be submitted any of required by KCC documents according DS-260
Or, in case the spouse (derivative) doesn’t want a divorce, but also does not want to have a DV Visa and interview…
In both cases, a change of family status at DS-260 is required!
Which of the cases above are disqualifying issue for the participant …? 🙂
Thank You in Advance !
Cheers!
November 30, 2019 at 00:45
I considered answering this fictional story, but decided not to waste my time with hypothetical situations.
December 1, 2019 at 21:45
Cassaro this is not genuine marriage I think.
November 29, 2019 at 11:27
Dear
Interview has been don last week, i cannot check Visa Status from the https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx#
Message shows: Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number.
I am entering case number without zeros, please your advice.
November 29, 2019 at 15:24
It will be avaible on January 2020, so you can’t check your status till decembre.
November 30, 2019 at 00:43
CEAC data for DV2020 will not be available until January 1.
November 29, 2019 at 16:54
Please is it advisable to leave your current company to work with another after submitting your DS260 with information of your old work?
Will it cause trouble in the interview?
November 30, 2019 at 00:38
It doesn’t matter.
November 30, 2019 at 05:08
Thank you
November 29, 2019 at 18:49
Hi Brit.
Am Dv 2020 winner with a Case No of AF73**…i have sent DS260 and all required documents on Nov 6 and Kcc sent congratulation email in Nov 7 to remained me that i have sent all the required documents and ready to schedule for interview. But now my case number became current and i did not receive any email from Kcc to announce me the interview date…did i miss the chance of getting interview?
November 30, 2019 at 00:34
You missed the chance for scheduling in November, so you will be scheduled in December (February interview).
November 29, 2019 at 23:47
Hi Simon,
I need your help. I am hearing now each US consulate in the different countries , some require the affidavit of support, and in other countries they don’t. I will be interviewing in Dublin/Ireland
Would you know if they require affidavit of support in Dublin? Also Would you know of any interview experience in Dublin here in your blog or anywhere else?
Thanks
November 30, 2019 at 00:28
Whether they require the I-134 or not varies by case – so assume they will need it.
November 30, 2019 at 01:14
Thanks and sorry just saw your reply now. Its silly I am going every single post related to Dublin and asking questions.. I love Google :D.. I got posts back to 2014 but I didn’t ask those people luckily 😉
November 30, 2019 at 00:42
Hi brit
I reached us 2 days ago and at POE the officer took my wifes finger print but he didnot ask me my finger print
do you think this normal situation
November 30, 2019 at 01:05
Normal for your case. No need to be worrying.
November 30, 2019 at 02:51
Hello sir, we got our visa approved and even at the time of interview we informed to change our sponsor but at our immigration packet we still have the old sponsor name mentioned and the officer even did not kept the welcome letter as he returned that with our original documents? So I am worried as we might face the problem or not at the port of entry of USA? I need your suggestion. Thank you
November 30, 2019 at 04:15
Change the USA address at the POE, otherwise the GC will be sent to the old address.
November 30, 2019 at 04:39
Thank you sir for your information.
November 30, 2019 at 14:11
Dear simon.
Our local embassy confirmed that they accept IRS transcript or W2 for the most recent year with the I134. My sponsor is going to send the W2 of 2018, but my interview has scheduled on mid of January. Will it be a problem to have the tax docs for 2018 or do we need to get the tax docs of 2019 since my interview on mid of Jan
Thank you
November 30, 2019 at 17:02
Get the 2018 tax documents and a recent payslip.
December 1, 2019 at 04:23
Thank you very much for the reply dear simon. But my problem is my sponsor said he will be not able to send me the employee letter and pay slips etc before my interview since he is working remotely and he is on his vacation too. But he said he can send me the bank statements with tax documents and I 134. He is a permenent employee (head office) and my self (branch) also working for the same US based IT company. Would that will be a issue during the interview or is that mandatory to provide the payslip. (Under instructions page which published on local embassy has requested only I 134 and tax documents)
Thank you…
December 1, 2019 at 04:54
Well if it is not sufficient at the interview you will be placed on AP while you get the missing paperwork.
November 30, 2019 at 16:48

December 1, 2019 at 05:23
When does will be my interview
December 1, 2019 at 16:48
Utterly obviously it will depend on when you send the documents.

December 1, 2019 at 16:49
Did I say that??? No!

Hi brit,
I wanted to know if my sponsor is qualified to sponsor me. My sponsor is a part time student she is studying her degree. Her income is $32000 can she qualify as a sponsor or would I need another sponsor and she will be only sponsoring 1 person.
Thank you.
December 1, 2019 at 06:31
Hi
Also she is renting ,has no life insurance or any real estate as she jst moved to usa recently.
Thank u
December 1, 2019 at 16:51
The sponsor must be a permanent resident or citizen and will need to show tax documents for a full year at least.

Read the link I gave you.
December 1, 2019 at 06:48
Hello Simon,
Please do you have an idea how many were selected in Ghana by the percentage. I do not feel something going on here in regards to the DV interviews. My CN is 548XX
December 1, 2019 at 16:55
I don’t know the percentage but there are less selectees than normal by far – presumably because many Ghanaian entries were considered fraudulent.
December 1, 2019 at 08:28
Dear Brit,
Thanks for the previous reply.
I have submitted all the required document to KCC on 10th Nov 2019,on the same day I received a automated mail from KCC.
My case no.AS56××(NEPAL).
According to VB Nepal 6500 for January.
Would you mind if u clear me what does it mean? When do I aspect 2NL.
Thank You!
December 1, 2019 at 17:06
You were too late to get an interview scheduled for January, so you will get a February interview (2NL in late December)
December 1, 2019 at 09:37
Good morning Boss, I urgently need your advice in respect of the narrative below.
1, We were scheduled for an interview on the 5th November 2019 but unfortunately for us when we got to the embassy we were informed that the interview could not come on hence a new date would be fixed and advised accordingly. It’s almost a month now and nothing has been communicated to us regarding the new date .
We would therefore appreciate if you could assist us in finding a lasting solution to this challenge. Thanks boss

Hi brit.greetings and once again thanks for your wonderful work.may God continue to bless you.Am 2020winner with case number Af73*****.l received a letter from kcc early last months to scann our documents and we were ask that we will receive email after six weeks.my question is we have not yet receive.should I write to remind them or wait.

You can ignore the 6 weeks thing. It’s nonsense. You have confused your number with additional asterisks. If your case number is 73000 range you will wait until very late in the year because that would be a high number.

Thanks for the prompt reply Mr Brit, we wrote to the embassy on two separate occasions and the reply we had was they they have taken our concerns into consideration and would get back to us but we are worried about the police report expiring before a new date is fixed. Is the medical report also restricted to 6 months after which it would be considered as having expired ?

Some cases may need to repeat the medicals if the AP lasts too long.

Please how much did your medicals cost
