Hello Simon I am a winner of DV-2023 lottery but i don’t know I did a mistake that you mentioned in your video. I applied to green card at November 2nd. During that time I was single until April 21st 2022. Now I am married. I’ve 3 questions. Should I go through and fill DS-260? Now that I’m married does that mean my wife also gets a green card with me? My wife is Ukrainian and bc of the invasion she doesn’t have a valid passport she is now registered refugee in Turkey. Will that pose a problem for the process?
May 12, 2022 at 21:49
No problem, she can be processed with you. She will have some sort of refugee papers I assume.

Hi, I am receiving an error while filling out the “Have you lived anywhere other than this address since the age of sixteen” question. It says “There is a gap greater than a month in the dates you have provided since the date you turned sixteen. Please include ALL addresses where you have lived since the date you turned 16 years old.” I turned 16 in 27-Nov-2017 and lived in hungary from September 2019. I don’t know what to do. Please help
May 12, 2022 at 21:50
You have left a gap. Complete the history correctly.

Dear Simon, I’m the DV2023 winner in AS20xx planning to do AOS.
1. I will move from my summer apartment in the states to college dorm in mid August. Should I put the mailing address the summer housing on or the college dorm so I won’t miss the possible package.
2. My main occupations is student but have done some internships and on campus work. Can I choose no for “Do you have other occupations?”
3.I have two F1 visa since I took a semester break from college and have the cancelled without prejudice stamp on my old F1 sticker. Should I put down my old visa number or the new one on DS260?
Thanks a lot
May 12, 2022 at 21:51
1. You can choose.
2. Yes
3. The active one.

Hi Brit,
I am a selectee of DV2023 and my case ID is 2023AS17XXX from Sri Lanka. I have few questions.
1. I have filled my family details accurately in the lottery entry but I only will be travelling. Please advise on how to fill the DS260. Do I have to mention that they are not migrating with me and not will the DS260s for them or do I have to fill DS260 for them as well?
2. My passport will expire in Nov 2022 and If I renew now I could probably get a new one by end June? Should I fill my DS260 with the available passport and change later or wait till end June?
3.Finally, any comments on my case ID 2023AS17XXX? Is this too high for Sri Lanka?
May 15, 2022 at 20:19
You list all on your DS260 and only submit a DS260 for those travelling.
2. Either way, you have a long wait anyway.
We don’t have all the data for DV2023 – so no predictions.
May 16, 2022 at 04:53
Hi Brit, Thanks for your reply. Appreciate it. By the way, when I submitted by DS260, I got a confirmation page and it says “You do not need to submit any documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. The KCC will review your application and will notify
you if any of the information you have provided is insufficient or incomplete.” Doss this mean that the document sending procedure is not required for DV2023 as well? How would the document procedure affect higher case numbers like mine? 2023AS17XXX.
May 18, 2022 at 19:25
Don’t take message as indicative about the document procedure.
May 12, 2022 at 21:52
By the way, in AOS, you do not need to file the DS260 yet. I hope you are studying the AOS process and do not file the I-485 before October.
May 12, 2022 at 07:53
Hi Brit!
I’ve been looking for flights going to USA and I have 2 options, passing through Dublin or through Montreal – from what I see, both airports have US preclearance – does that mean I will go through the immigration process in Dublin / Montreal as opposed to the actual POE in the states? Do I have to hand in the papers there, or do I still have to go through the process in the US regardless of the preclearance?
Thank you!
May 12, 2022 at 21:52
Does it matter?
May 12, 2022 at 08:13
Hi. I am unable to add my street address. it brings an error “Street Address (Line 1) is invalid. Only the following characters are valid for this field: A-Z, 0-9, period (.), question mark (?), apostrophe (‘), hyphen (-), comma (,), semi-colon (;), and space.” despite everything matching the requirements. No matter what I try it does not accept my address and I cannot move forward. Please help.
May 12, 2022 at 21:54
It’s software. You are clearly using a character it does not recognize. Probably a letter with an accent.
May 12, 2022 at 08:22
hello.my husband and I arrived in the usa as tourists in November 2019.and then there was coronavirus.our visa was until may and we applied for political asylum in august 2020.and now we won a green card what are our chances? Thank you
May 12, 2022 at 21:55
I don’t know anything about your case.
May 12, 2022 at 08:26
Hi Simon, am back again for your guidance as always 🙂
My daughter aged 19 is a derivative in dv 2022 cn AF15k, case is RFS in NRB embassy. I applied for her DV 23 and she won cn AF50K. Should she fill her DS 260 now or we wait for our 2NL first for dv 2022? and if she submits ds for DV 23 will it affect our dv 22 case?
May 12, 2022 at 21:54
No impact of one year on the other.
May 12, 2022 at 09:58
Hi Sir, thanks for all the help! My derivative applicants(children) will migrate at a later date or accompany me at a later date in the US after the fiscal year 2022 that was what I put on the DS-260 Forms for my two kids. I am aware not including my derivative applicants now will cause me to do the I-130 process when I’m about to file for them. I don’t want to take them alone with me at this moment because of personal circumstances, they are two girls, this year will make they older one 4 and the smaller one 3. They are both from different mothers and I am not married to none of the mothers.
1. I want to know during my interview, will I present medical examination results and supporting documents for my derivative applicants(two girls) that are not accompanying me in the US?. Or I am only presenting medical examination and supporting documents for me alone since I’m the only one travelling at this moment.
2. Is it compulsory to take my kids along with me during the interview?
3. Should I provide documents of attestation proving that the kids are mine because I didn’t play with any of their mothers?
May 12, 2022 at 21:57
1. Just you.
2. No
3. Since you are not asking for visas for them that is not needed.
May 12, 2022 at 10:20
Hello Brit, can you please clarify something for me? My Case Number:
2023SA90X. Is that a good case number? I mean, I’m within the first 1000 winners in my region, so….does that mean I should get my interview before the end of the year? Also, I was assigned initially the American Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Then, while filling out the DS260 form, I requested it be changed to the American Embassy in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Then, I was checking the web page of the Quito embassy and they say they’re not currently processing immigrant visas. Did I screw my chances of getting an interview because I changed the interview place like that? I mean, why would they give me the option, while filling out the DS260 form, to change from Guayaquil to Quito if they’re not offering the service? Does this make sense to you? What do you think I should do? I live in Quito, so it would be convenient for me to be interviewed here. Thank you so much in advance for your answer!
May 12, 2022 at 21:59
They will ignore your embassy choice, no problem.
Your case number isn’t that low, so it will probably be early 2023.
May 12, 2022 at 10:22
Hello Brit, I have a question: My girlfriend who is winner of the lottery DV23 EU 1XXX number. We are dating 4 years now, and we will are getting married tomorrow (scheduled).
We wanted to send the DS formular after the registration, so after 2 days.
2 questions:
1. What surname should she write in the DS form, my surname or her old surname on her old passport? Or she should change all the things (passport, ID) before sending the DS form?
2. Do we have to post on social media all the procedures, my proposal, marriage, will they check our social media?
Thank You a lot!
May 12, 2022 at 22:00
1. Assuming she takes your name in marriage then she can use that name for the DS260 (and list her old name in the other names used section). She can submit the DS260 before updating the passport.
2. You may be asked to prove the marriage was real and planned – but that might be proven in other ways.
May 19, 2022 at 09:45
What about Passport ID? Her passport is no longer valid because of the marriage and changing the surname and address of living. Should she wait for the new passport (which she will receive in 1 week or so) or she can fill the form with this old passport? We really don’t want to mess things up.
Thank you in advance!
May 19, 2022 at 18:59
1 week won’t make much difference.
May 12, 2022 at 10:23
Hi BritSimon,
Thank you very much for all your work and help.
In the process of submitting the DS-260 I’m asked to provide information about my permanent address in the US. I don’t have any reference address or know nobody. How one should answer in this case?
Can I just randomly pick one and change it in future?
Is this info significant in some ways in future if I click that I don’t want to receive mail at this?
Thank you very much
May 13, 2022 at 04:56
It is the place where your GC will be sent. So yes you can pick an address now and update later, but you MUST update.
May 12, 2022 at 11:45
Howdy there,
there is new VB for June. EU27K unchanged, all other regions current (and in May there were cut offs and EU27K). How to read this?
May 13, 2022 at 04:58
See my post.
May 12, 2022 at 12:01
Hi Brit,
My girlfriend won DV2023 lottery and her case id is AF10XXX. She is currently staying/working in Thailand and I stay in India. We have been dating since last 5 years and intended to marry this year.
1) Is it better to get married in Thailand & stay there till our interview or we need to move to Morocco (Africa – country she applied from)?
2) Do you see any issues with interview location in entirely a different continent (winner in AF and interview in AS)?
3) We have been travelling together since last few years, are travel photos enough to prove the relationship?
4) India is not eligible for DV, does it reduce her chances because of me?
5) Comparing last few years data, 10k case id in AF region usually has interviews for Jan month. Is it alright if we submit DS260 in Aug/Sept (after getting married)?
May 13, 2022 at 04:59
1. Anywhere is fine.
2. Possibly a little more complicated.
3. Maybe.
4. No
5. Yes
May 12, 2022 at 12:14
Hi Simon,
I”ve been selected in the DV2023. I have been living in London for the past three years, so I selected the London embassy at the start of my application and the DS-260. I haven’t submitted the DS-260 yet and I’m wondering if changing the embassy from London to Sofia, Bulgaria (which is my home country) would raise any questions at this point. I have no intention of moving back but it would be easier to have the medical examination there given that they’ll be able to decipher my medical records much easier. What do you think?
Thanks in advance for your help, much appreciated.
May 13, 2022 at 05:00
That’s OK. Probably unnecessary, but OK.
May 12, 2022 at 12:31
Dear Simon,
Thank you for the great work that you do! It’s been incredibly helpful!!!!
I’m a selectee from Spain (2023EU30). You’ve mentioned a few times that you qualified through your wife who’s Spanish. Do you happen to know whether the documents that we need to send to KCC and eventually bring to the interview (namely birth certificate and police report) need to be authenticated with an apostille? Or would the original documents suffice “as is”?
Many thanks!!
May 12, 2022 at 17:11
Hello Brit, hope you’re doing fine.
I’m dv selectee with 2022eu79xx case number. I currently reside in China and I had my interview in Guangzhou US consulate on April 14th. There was an issue with my non criminal record, I misunderstood the requirements and didn’t notarized the original doc, also the consular officer noted that my non criminal has to state that I have no record in China. The province and city where I have temporary residence (Guangdong/Shenzhen) only issue NCR that states I don’t have a record in Shenzhen, China, the wording doesn’t refer to the whole Mainland. I have tried trough multiple ways to obtain different certificates, but have been told it is not possible, due to me being a foreigner and that my residence is tied to Shenzhen. I was also referred to official Police website that states that. I have provided authorized NCR and copy from the official Police website stating that that’s the only NCR I can obtain as a foreigner in China. I was checking my visa status in the meantime and there was the update and my status is still rejected. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that I’ll be rejected solely on the fact that I cannot overcome bureaucracy issue due to wrong wording on my NCR. Did you encounter similar issue before and is there anything I can do in this situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Nick
May 13, 2022 at 05:59
You must show that you precisely followed the instructions on the reciprocity page. Show that, step by step.
May 13, 2022 at 05:02
It depends on the embassy specific instructions. So, check the instructions.
May 12, 2022 at 12:45
Dear Simon
AF18xxx
Come you please give us advice
My uncle win the lottery 2023
His age 65
Any problem about people over 60
Many thanks
May 13, 2022 at 05:11
Yes and no. There is no specific age limit, but he is close to retirement age. So – is he independently wealthy, or would he be needing an income. The USA is not a place that supports retirees that well.
May 12, 2022 at 14:20
Hi Brit. Is it normal that cases higher than mine are in “Ready” status in the same consulate as mine, while im still “AT NVC”? I have submitted everything already including documents although its irrelevant this year. Could there be an issue? My case number is AF49XXX while theirs is AF50XXX
May 13, 2022 at 05:50
Yes that is somewhat normal. Their case was processed before yours.
May 12, 2022 at 14:33
Dear Simon,
I was able to find a sponsor for me and my husband. She is one of my school mates. She has sponsored her brother-in-law 3 years ago and he has not received his visa yet since her sister moved to America before getting married. Will that be an issue if I present her as my sponsor?
May 13, 2022 at 05:51
It should be OK.
May 13, 2022 at 07:42
I was able to find another sponsor which is one of my brother’s friend. I need to clarify a small thing. He has sponsored another person before and he has 2 children. So,
1. When we count the number of people in the family to check the poverty guideline, should we include the other person he has sponsored? Like 4 (members of sponsor’s family) + 2 (me and my husband) +1 (the other sponsored person)?
2. How long is it valid when someone agrees to sponsor a person?
3. This is regarding the current address on the DS 260 form. Do we get any mail to the current address?
May 13, 2022 at 13:49
1. Using someone who has sponsored someone before adds a risk and complication that should be avoided, but in theory it would be the combined number (4 + 2 + 1 in your example).
2. Depends on which form of sponsorship
3. No. Only the visa packet which can often be collected.
May 13, 2022 at 16:20
For the second question, He has sponsored for a green card lottery winner of a previous year. How long is it valid?
May 13, 2022 at 20:36
No time, technically as the I-134 is not enforceable. However, the new form asks about previous sponsorship, so that might be a problem.
May 12, 2022 at 14:59
If a person that i uses his address moves out the address that i use a ds260 during a process how do i change it to a new one
May 13, 2022 at 05:54
At the interview or at the port of entry.
May 12, 2022 at 15:58
HI Simon. What happens in the case where your birth certificate and all your other documents have a different last name with the passport. Does it change how you feel your DS-260 form? And does it affect your chances after being selected. In this case, all my documents have ALI as the last name but my passport has ISSACK as the last name which is my fathers last name.
May 13, 2022 at 05:56
Not a problem. In the DS260 you give the current legal name and there is a section for previous names used.
May 12, 2022 at 17:39
Hi Brit! You have been very accurate on every replays i have read on other people comments and problems during dv2022 process. Im from albania . Tirana embassy. Cn66xx and i had my interview today (12 may 2022). I have had a deportation from France in 2018 . And ban from it for 3 years and been under administrative dentetion for 7day (till france authorities find me a plane ticket ) But i have deleted from sistem with a lawyer and brought those documents there . But there wasn’t sufficient. So the CO refused my visa till i send by email a police certificate from france. I can get it in 3-4 days .
1 Is it enough to send it with email to embassy or should i send it with DHL post to?
2 Will they scheduled an other interview date for me or just ask for my passport since all the other documents are correct ?
3 Do i have a chance to get a visa before 30 September 2022 if they approve my case ? Do you think it would be approve before 30 sep ?
May 13, 2022 at 06:00
1. You decide.
2. No other interview.
3. I cannot see the future.
May 12, 2022 at 18:08
Sponsor document we need in interview?

May 12, 2022 at 18:20
I have my friend in US and I am planning on getting her as my sponsor. So what I need to clarify is that she have represented as a sponsor for her brother in law 3 years back. Her brother in law was applying directly. Like he is not a green card applicant. But he anyways couldn’t get Visa for some other reasons. So what I need to know is that whether I can get her to be my sponsor? also I need few more clarifications as well.
1. If he/she have represented as the sponsor.for someone else. Can he/she represent as the sponsor for another person as well ? Like is there a time period where he/she needs to wait to sponsor another?
2. How can we identify the income the sponsor should have to sponsor someone ? is it the amounts mentioned in the poverty guideline? if so how can we identify the member count. Example : If the sponsor is married and having a child, if he/she is going to sponsor a couple is the member count taken as 3 + 2 = 5 ?
3. Should the sponsor have an annual income great the poverty guideline or a monthly income?
May 13, 2022 at 06:04
1. Since the visa wasn’t issued it should be OK
2. Correct
3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXKTrnf-Z40
May 12, 2022 at 18:33
Hi Simon! I have another question. How do they check your employment history? I mean, do they call your previous employers or something like that. The only job I had done was for about 3 months in 2020-2021, what if I don’t put it because I don’t feel like it is relevant. What are they gonna do?
May 12, 2022 at 20:35
Hi Simon, you are awesome!! I appreciate the work you do for the DV lottery for free., thank you.
Please advise if I should unlock my DS260. Case No. 2023AF12*** I made a mistake on one of the questions asked ( Do you want the social security administration to issue a social security number and a card) I answered “No” by mistake. should I request to unlock my DS260.? Or. Just leave it
May 13, 2022 at 12:57
Leave it and change it at the interview.
May 12, 2022 at 22:40
Hello Brit.
Case num: AS21k.
I was emailing KCC repeatedly lately and insisting that they give me a valid answer to my question which was, why is taking so long to schedule my interview, and I used to get the same “allow several weeks for processing” email until just today they emailed me saying this “Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received, or will soon receive, an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Can you please tell me what does this email mean and what should I understand from it. Thank you
May 13, 2022 at 13:13
Jeez. Come on. You have been asking about when your DS260 would be processed, now they respond saying your DS260 has been processed, and you now ask what that means???
May 13, 2022 at 17:13
What I mean is KCC usually replies by saying ” you’re ready for scheduling” for those who have their DS-260 processed. Right?
So my question is why is this one different and by saying “in order for your case to continue processing ” do they the interview?
May 13, 2022 at 20:38
It’s just one style of letter they use. Stop overthinking.
May 13, 2022 at 06:04
1. Be honest.
2. No they don’t check normally.
May 12, 2022 at 20:19
Hi Brit
This maybe to late of a stupid question. I am a dv 2022 winner. High number Not sure if they will even get to me as I’m based in Sydney also.
I was watching one of your video’s and you said that on the summary page of your DS260 you when you first log on to it that it will have everyone on there already you and your derivatives etc.
If not you missed them on your application. We’ll when I did my original application I photographed every page while competing it to make sure I had not missed anything and to keep a reference then submitted.
I got selected but a high number
When I first logged onto the ds260 there was only me on the form. So I assume something has gone wrong and/or I have stuffed it up so I assume it’s probably not worth going to the interview even if they get to my number?.
Thanks
May 13, 2022 at 12:56
So I would say you did not include your derivatives, but are you saying you did? You uploaded their photos?
If you did and you want to proceed, you can still do something – you could get a transfer to Suva. Even with a high number, right now, that could work.
May 12, 2022 at 20:59
2022EU6k
I know I’m complicating my life here simon but please bare with me.
So i had my interview on 11/05/2022 and the consular officer approved my visa, wished me good luck in the US and everything, and said to retrieve passport with visa stamped in 3-4 weeks.
The stupid thing that got me worried is in here https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx
the status in ceac shows “refused”
Is the data in here corrupted or sthg?
Thanks a lot!!
May 13, 2022 at 12:58
Refused comes in two types. You can tell the difference by the description in the text below the case info in CEAC.
May 12, 2022 at 21:16
Hi mate, thanks for your fab work! I’m about to fill in the DS260, however – I applied with a valid passport (at the time), and just expired two weeks ago. I’ve set an appointment to renew it, although it’s happening in July. What’s your take on this? Cheers, from Simon to Simon!
May 13, 2022 at 13:00
If you have a low number and want the fastest possible action, you could submit now using the other ID option. Or simply renew then submit with the new details.
May 12, 2022 at 22:06
I have been selected for DV 2023, I want to submit the DS 260 forms, But my children passports are not ready, can i submit the forms without their passports
May 13, 2022 at 13:03
Yes. You can use your passport number for the children, then change later.
May 12, 2022 at 22:16
Hi Simon,
Is there any hope that Biden Adminstration may recall 2017 DV winners who did the visa interview successfuly but were unable to obtain visa because of Trump’s travel ban at the time?
May 13, 2022 at 13:04
Very unlikely. It’s Congress, not the Biden admin that would do that – but again, it is VERY unlikely.
May 12, 2022 at 23:56
Hello sir. I have a problem with my changeability
It said ABU DHABI, please ???? what can I do?
I m from Africa and applied the DV in the UAE.
May 13, 2022 at 13:28
If you chose UAE as your chargeability, you will have an AS region number. That was a mistake, and you would be disqualified at interview, UNLESS you were married at the time of entry to someone from UAE. You should have chosen your country of birth. There is no way to fix it, so do not proceed.
May 13, 2022 at 01:08
Hello sir, I won the DV 2023 and my case number is AF22. I have a problem with my changeability. Because of where I applied for the DV ( UAE ) but I m now back in my home country.. please what can I do?
May 13, 2022 at 13:31
Now you repeated the question, but say you have an AF number. In that case your chargeability is not UAE but your post. Which is it? BE CLEAR!!!!!
May 13, 2022 at 04:44
Hi Simon, I’m a DV2022 winner from Australia submitting my DS260 now.
I live in Australia and don’t have any ties to any other countries.
Having seen people successfully change interview locations from Sydney > Suva, I find myself with two options:
1) Submit my DS260 with the interview location as Suva (am I even “allowed” to do this?)
2) Submit my DS260 with the interview location as Sydney, then request a transfer after the fact.
Just trying to find the quickest solution / your opinion on the best way to do this.
Thanks!
May 13, 2022 at 13:33
You have left this insanely late to submit in a difficult year. I’m not sure you will get processed in time, so in one sense you would be declaring immigrant intent for no reason. However, if you want to try – choose option 2.
May 13, 2022 at 05:20
Hi Simon! I have 2023AF96K and also have a laminated Cert, can i use my transcript as a substitute for the cert?
May 13, 2022 at 13:35
They will probably expect to see both. The cert is important.
Can you just confirm, your case number is 2023, AF region, 96000 range approximately? That is the highest number I have seen so far this year.
May 13, 2022 at 06:24
Hi sir ,
I don’t have high school.which job experience is good to mention.
Housekeeping manger
Lodge manager
Housekeeping supervisor.
If I unlock my ds260 to change my job experience do it effects my case as I m documents quality

Hey Brit, Thanks for 2023 video, the information was very helpful.
1) I have a case number AS6XXX (so in the 6 thousand range for Asia), in your experience how likely is it that they might run out of Visas before getting to that number?
2) I had an arrest 3 years ago, for a misdemeanor, but I was never charged with anything and I the matter wasn’t perused beyond that. How likely is it for an incident like that to get in the way of receiving m green card?
Thanks again
May 13, 2022 at 13:57
1. Not likely.
2. Not likely.

Hi Sir, Kindly reply to this please. I have a clarification about address details when we fill the DS260 form, it ask about the address that intended to stay in USA
1. Mailing address and sponsor address should be the same address. or can we have two different people for the mailing address and the sponsor ?
2. Can the sponsor be in a another state and we can live in a different state ?
3. If we got a visa family all have to travel to US same time and is there any time period for it?
May 13, 2022 at 13:58
1. Can be different.
2. Yes
3. Each visa has an expiry date. The principal applicant must enter before or with the derivatives.

Hi Britsimon,
Hope you are well.
I have a couple questions regarding some mistakes that were made in the entry form, I would like to be sure if they will not cause of denying visa or not.
1. Mistake in the spelling of son’s last name in English, it was written PO’LOTOV instead of PULATOV.
2. 21 years old daughter was added in the entry form.
Thanks in advance for your response!
May 13, 2022 at 14:00
Neither should be a problem.
May 13, 2022 at 15:46
Thanks for your response!
In DS-260 form of principal applicant should we add married and over 21 yo children in the question How many children do you have?
May 13, 2022 at 20:33
Yes
May 13, 2022 at 11:09
Hi Brit! Hope all is well with you.
As at the time of entry, I didn’t have a passport so I used a national ID. I turn out to be a winner. I now have a passport.
My question is should I use the national ID to fill the ds 260 form or the passport I have now. Thank you.
May 13, 2022 at 14:01
Passport.

Dear Simon, one of your video you said that 55000 green cards include winners and them families, for example if I won green card and take with me my wife and mi child it mean that I occupy 3 green cards from 55000. But in your other video when you showed selected people in your blog Historical Visa Bulletin Numbers page ther are more than a hundred thousand selected. Can you please explain again how many people can get green cards in the world? If there is only 55000 green card for all, it means that people whose case numbers for example are start after 25,000 they have a very small chanse for interview․ Thank you for your patience).
My case number is EU00031xxx.
May 13, 2022 at 14:04
There are 55,000 GCs available and yes your family would take 3 of them.
They overselect, knowing that some will not proceed, some will get refused and so on. However, if they select too many, some people will not be invited for interview. Those cases are the highest case numbers. It is too soon to know whether your case is too high, because we do not know the total winners numbers, nor the regional highest case numbers selected.
You should also watch my videos that explains the draw process and holes, because there are not 30999 actual cases in front of EU310000.

Hi Simon,
Hope you’re well.
EU2022-17K interview in Dublin.
As my medical results were not ready, the officer requested to send passport and medical report via post, which I’ve done accordingly.
Is there a way to see at what stage my visa is?
How will I know whether the case has been approved or not?
Thank you.
May 13, 2022 at 14:06
First thing you would see is the issued status on CEAC.
May 13, 2022 at 14:12
Thank you for your prompt response.
It still shows as refused there wink is the same information that was provided by the CO.
At this point I’ll keep an eye as you suggested. I will get back to you if needed.
Cheers.
May 16, 2022 at 15:12
Is the information on CEAC accurate and updated regularly?
May 18, 2022 at 20:02
Yes
May 13, 2022 at 13:57
Hi Simon,
DV2023 winner here. If I marry my girlfriend between now and interview and she gets rejected, would I also get rejected as a matter of course? Or would we be treated separately in such a case? Kind Regards.
May 13, 2022 at 14:05
Why would she be rejected? The only risk is if the CO believes your relationship is not genuine.
May 13, 2022 at 14:31
She doesn’t meet the education requirements and it’s a bit touch-and-go on the work experience.
May 13, 2022 at 14:51
A derivative does not have to meet the education or work experience requirements.
May 13, 2022 at 14:53
That’s perfect, thank you very much for your quick reply.
May 13, 2022 at 14:37
Are you a winner from ITALY?
May 13, 2022 at 15:04
Hi Brit Simon
First of all i’d like to thank you for helping us for free!
so my question is by the time i applied for DV lottery my passport wasn’t expired but now it is and i’ll get my new passport in a week , so when i was filling my DS260 personal information i used my expired passport information and i had an error telling me , “Expiration Date: cannot be earlier than today”
Does that mean that i have to wait until my new passport is ready then register with it? will i get rejected if they find that its not the same passport ID that i applied in the first time ? what should i do in this case?
Thank you so much !
May 13, 2022 at 20:26
If you want to submit immediately, use another ID.
May 13, 2022 at 15:07
Hi Simon please answer only based on your experience, EU30XXX is a very risky case number in your opinion?
May 13, 2022 at 20:28
You don’t give the year.
If it’s 2022, then your risk is more about your embassy and processed status.
If it’s 2023, it is too early to tell because we don’t know how many selectees there are, the highest case numbers (and therefore we don’t know the rate of holes).

HI Simon
My Spouse with DV 2023 for the EU category. (He is an Indian National and the claim of eligibility of his entry is My country of birth Germany as me holding Srilankan nationality). Case number is 2023EU19*** .
As per the pre requisite of mandate Document for co applicant I need submit my Police Certificate. Being a Srilankan nationality staying here in India I need to get tat from the police authorities of that locality as per below instruction
”
From the country of current residence (if different from nationality) if they resided there for more than 6 months THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from the police authorities of that locality.
”
and as per the Reciprocity Schedule for India( as my current resident here in India)
Issuing Authority:
———————-
All Indian nationals aged 16 and above, residing in India – Regional Passport Office.
1 .Non-Indian applicants residing in India who are registered with the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) – The FRRO serving their area of residence.
2. Non-Indian applicants who reside in India and are not FRRO registered (such as Tibetan Identity certificate holders) – District Police Station serving their area of residence.
I have requested for my Police Clearance Certificate from the Local FRRO as per point 1, where as I have a question here
Being a OCI holder I no need to register myself in local police station or extend my Visa for my stay here in India as OCI is life long valid so I had decided to get that from FRRO but I need ur inputs too
1. my Question is DO I need to get my PCC as per point 1 or Point 2 above?
2. What does the duration in the statement “self request letter for police clearance certificate with duration of the PCC” actually refer to and what duration I should request for my PCC?
Regards
Sharmi

I don’t know. You need to read and understand the instructions, and I don’t have any personal experience which matches your situation.
May 13, 2022 at 15:31
HI Simon,
Thank you for all your help. I won the DV2023 with AS13xxx, when is the appropriate time to start working and submitting my DS260?
May 13, 2022 at 20:32
You can start now if you want.
May 13, 2022 at 15:37
Hello Brit! I am a 2022 dv lottery winner but I lost all the information that could help me to proceed with the visa process. Our house got fire so we lost everything and I could not even remember the email address I used when I entered the dv program so I could get again my confirmation number which can help to have my case number and proceed with the visa process. So I’m unable to retrieve my confirmation number. Can you please advise
May 13, 2022 at 20:32
I cannot help you with that.
May 13, 2022 at 16:06
Hello Mr. BritSimon!
Thank you for your great work, I am eager to get a reply from you on this issue of ours, thanking you in advance for it!
1 – So my sister is a winner of the DV2023 lottery and she stands at AS24xxx in line, her place of birth in her passport is “Pakistan” which is an ineligible country for DV but she holds Afghanistan nationality, and her parents are born in Afghanistan and are Afghan nationals and do not have any other nationality until this day, will this make her eligible for the DV2023?
2 – Can my sister claim the birth country of her parents even if the parents are not the principal winners of the DV lottery and also that the parents are not immigrating with the daughter or considered derivates?
3 – if Yes, will KCC consider asking for her documents or for the proof of her mother’s place of birth before they see the principal applicant’s place of birth as an ineligible country and reject it right away or never send/ask for the instructions/documents submission?
4 – I think I made a mistake on the DV2023 entry, selecting the place of birth “Afghanistan” as an eligible country and not selecting the option “claiming parents’ country of birth for dv2023 eligibility? but I corrected this on DS260, will it reject me?
5 – Should I send the documents without KCC asking for them despite the that I stand at AS24xxx in line?
May 13, 2022 at 20:35
1. Were her parents in Pakistan temporarily at the time of her birth? Can she prove that they were only there for a short time? If so she could proceed.
2. See 1
3. KCC never reject cases, only a CO can do that.
4. Possibly.
5. Not yet.

May 13, 2022 at 20:37
You get disqualified if you fail to list any eligible derivative.
May 13, 2022 at 16:55
Hello Brit,
2023EU4xxx
My spouse won the lottery, and the concern is that couple of years ago I got rejected for a tourist visa to the US.
Does it affect anyhow our case?
Thank you in advance,
May 13, 2022 at 20:37
Probably not.
