Hi mr Simon I hope you are ok.
sir my friend is aDV 2018 winner. so at the original entry he had no kids just him and his wife. but before the results came out he had a newly born boy. and when he tries to add the kid to the DS260 they request an aploaded birth certificate. my question sir is does he need to apload just the original birth certificate or its translation. thank you in advance.
May 4, 2017 at 19:22
I need your answer mr Simon please.
May 4, 2017 at 19:40
I have never heard of the DS260 requiring a form to be uploaded. Are you SURE that is being required by the form?
May 4, 2017 at 20:33
Hello sir may I ask how many entries been selected from SAUDI ARABIA and ERITREA
May 4, 2017 at 21:00
Those numbers are not yet published for DV2018.
May 5, 2017 at 08:28
Hi BriSimon
I check my DV 2018 result but it came with this after filling in the information the way I thought I it be in and this is what I saw.
Has not been selected for further processing for the DV visa program at this time and they also said I should check my information correctly and later check at ESC home. So I want to know whether I check the result correctly and I didn’t win that is why I was told or I didn’t check the result good by putting in the information correctly that is why I keep on receiving that identical message for each time I checked. I am suppose to see a letter to tell whether I have won or not, right? I am really worry.Atleast if I check the result the right way and I don’t win, fine,I can accept but maybe I am not checking it correctly and I don’t want to be discourage. I really need your assistance Bri Simon. If you want me to text all necessary information so u can check my result and tell me whether I have won or not it will be better for me.
May 5, 2017 at 08:57
Not selected means NOT selected. Try again next year.
May 4, 2017 at 15:00
To everyone getting this message in DS-260 “The case number you entered does not match the case number that you entered at Sign In.” > Did you copy paste your case number in when first starting the form? were there possible spaces before or after the case number when you clicked ‘continue’? Is this only happening in Australia or everywhere globally? Thanks all
May 4, 2017 at 16:29
HI LuLu
i also get that error message but i did not copy and paste it, i typed it manually
i am from Afghanistan
if you solved this issue please share it
thanks everyone!
May 4, 2017 at 17:08
I took out the leading zeros from my case number (there were four 0’s before the case number) and that fixed the problem.
May 4, 2017 at 18:52
Thanks
May 4, 2017 at 18:44
try removing the zeros between the last letter and the first number.
May 4, 2017 at 20:10
I had the same problem, but then took out all the 0’s from my case number and then it worked. 🙂

May 5, 2017 at 04:12
Should I remove the zeros when signing the application only or at the beginning when signing in as well?
Thank you.
May 5, 2017 at 04:48
See what works.
May 5, 2017 at 08:38
I am from Africa to be precise West Africa, Liberia. Have the DV 2018 result been published already or it is today, because things are conflicting me here. When I checked on google, other websites said it was published May 2, 2017 while other websites said it will be published today,May 5, 2017. So I want to know whether it has been published already. I am really worrying because I know I have lost in the DV lottery 2018 but it is difficult for me to accept because it is my first playing and it is my first time to check DV lottery result online by my self using their official website. Hope I won. please solve it out for me BriSimon

Congratulations Abdul
May 4, 2017 at 16:20
Hi Brit.My parents won DV Lottery but due to some lost certificates in the local Civil Office they cannot take a marriage certificate because the office claims the register where the date of their marriage was written is teared apart and therefore does not exist a date in the system. What can they do in order to fill DS 260 as fast as possible because the form requires date of marriage ?Should they file to open a case in the court ?That would take months.Thank you.
May 4, 2017 at 19:06
The DV process takes months anyway – so yes – they need to get replacement documents.
May 4, 2017 at 16:23
Thanks Rufus.
You can contact me on 6122706614 to share with you some basic things you need to know before your interview.

Hello britsimonsays.com!
I am a DV Lottery 2018 winner with case number 2018EU000387**.
Is there any chances for these numbers not to qualify (when can I have the interview) and how much should the sponsor’s income be, please?
Thanks in advance, Simon!
May 4, 2017 at 16:36
Yes there is a chance not to be called for interview. Your number is quite high.
May 4, 2017 at 19:01
My number was 2016EU000401**.and we got green cards. So do not worry. You do not need a sponsor.
May 4, 2017 at 16:47
Does ‘filling out the ds-260 as soon as possible’ play a role and how approximately be the sponsor’s income?
May 4, 2017 at 18:56
Two totally separate things.
May 4, 2017 at 16:51
Hello Mr Simon
Did you say if not selected keep checking the results still? Please I want to know because there are not too many people of my country go to america. Hope to hear from you soon please.
May 4, 2017 at 18:55
You can if you want, but if you see not selected it won’t change.
May 4, 2017 at 16:53
HI SIMON, would you please tell me what does an update mean on ceac website? I mean when they update your case.
May 4, 2017 at 17:16
I have no idea Masoud… Good luck!
May 4, 2017 at 17:20
Thanks 🙂
May 4, 2017 at 17:21
LOL, I wanted to ask this question from Britsimon. sorry I posted it in a wrong place
May 4, 2017 at 18:59
My number was 2016EU000401**.and we got green card. So do not worry.
May 4, 2017 at 19:00
Each year is different.
May 4, 2017 at 18:54
It can mean anything – so don’t try and interpret any meaning from it.
May 4, 2017 at 19:06
If my number is 18xxx, is that 18k of only EU applicants, or is that 18k of worldwide applicants?
May 4, 2017 at 19:10
It is within EU. However, each case number carries the selectee and derivatives (family), BUT there are holes between the numbers. So for both those reasons you cannot assume there are 17999 people in front of case number 18000.
May 4, 2017 at 19:17
Interesting. Thank you! Looking at the charts on your website, 18k seems to fall reasonably within the previous year interview-likely numbers. Am I understanding the charts correctly? Interpreting that 18k is quite likely to be drawn for interview in early 2018ish?
May 4, 2017 at 19:18
Yep
May 5, 2017 at 13:43
Hi BritSimon
from where I can read out this chart
May 5, 2017 at 14:27
The link is historical visa bulletin numbers at the top of every page.
May 5, 2017 at 14:35
Thanks for responding, After checking it seems that my CN which is around 7xxx, promote me to an interview in mid of 2018, do you think so?
May 5, 2017 at 16:06
Maybe. Always quote your year and reagion along with your number
May 4, 2017 at 19:06
Hello Brit, wanted to ask you if I have applied with country nationality that is eligible for a green card application, however after I applied after 6 months I have changed my nationality (received a UK nationality) which is not eligible for a green card.
Could you please tell me what happens if I won the green card with my application when I applied with my EU nationality whcih was eliggible to apply, and now I changed my nationality of the country which is not eligible.
I am very lost.
Many thanks in advance
May 4, 2017 at 19:08
The DV process has nothing to do with nationality – it is birth country. So carry on the process and interview where you live.
May 4, 2017 at 19:11
Hi Brit,
I and my girlfriend played dv2018 seperately. However, she won and I didn’t.
Will it be advisable if I Marry her for the both of us to get to the US?
My second question is, her case number is in 44000, does she stand a better chance to be call for interview?
Rufus, From Liberia!
May 4, 2017 at 19:13
It would be wise to marry her IF* that would be a genuine marriage (based on a real relationship that you can prove existed before the win.
As for her number – I don’t know where the cutoff will fall this year.
May 4, 2017 at 19:19
Thanks Brit
But do you have idea on when last year number was cutoff?
May 4, 2017 at 19:37
It is not the same as last year. Again. WAIT AND SEE.
May 4, 2017 at 19:12
Hello Mr. Simon
First of all thank you for your good effort in this website.
I am a 2018 dv lottery winner, and my number ends in 18×××. As I understand this number have something to do with your interview timing.
Currently, I live in a country different than my homeland (for university). And I have a few vacations starting from September 2017 (max 1 month).
My questions are:
1. Can I do the interview in the country where I study (not my homeland)?
2. If not. Can I change the interview timing so it will fit with my vacations?
Regards,
May 4, 2017 at 19:21
1. Yes
2. Your interview will not be in 2017.
May 4, 2017 at 20:47
Hi BritSimon
I had a question regrading my case. I have been F1 student in USA since 2008 and I’m 2017 DV lottery winner, but the problem is that in 2015 i was charged in iowa with prostitution(solicitation), iowa code section 725.1 (2) (a) and I have submitted plea of guilt and been ordered 1 year formal probation and a fine after completion of it all my records were expunged due to deferred judgment. My question is that I have and interview soon will that effect of me getting my green card. I would appreciate your response if you have seen something like this before thanks .
May 4, 2017 at 20:59
That crime can cause problems for immigration cases as it is often (but not always) considered a “crime of moral turpitude”. To be honest – this will be up to the CO to decide – I cannot tell you the outcome for sure.
May 4, 2017 at 21:04
thanks for your response
May 4, 2017 at 21:25
Hello,
I can enter into the system with my case number just fine. The problem is when I fill out the DS 260 and try to submit by entering my case number, i get the error message : “The case number you entered does not match the case number that you entered at Sign In.”
I checked multiple times and it is correct.
What do you suggest? Is it because I need to wait some more days?
Thank you

May 4, 2017 at 21:48
Hello Brit,
I have bn selected for further processing in the DV-2018. My question is;
1. Can I use my brother’s address as the petitioner/sponsor since he also won the lotter in DV-2008?
2. What happens next after submission of the DV-260?
3. Case 2018AF00004XXX, Do I stand a chance?
May 4, 2017 at 22:03
1. Yes
2. Waiting while they do background checks – which will take months. No interviews will happen until October.
3. Yes.
May 4, 2017 at 22:21
Thanks Bro
May 4, 2017 at 21:55
Hi Simon. My case number is 28*** I understand its a large number over 18K so does that mean I dont have any further chance? Its my first time entering your blog,so I still can’t understand why is this number a problem?
Best regards
May 4, 2017 at 22:01
Whenever you quote the number write is with year and region. I am assuming you mean 2018EU28XXX.
Actually that is not particularly high. I think you will have a good chance. The highest EU numbers are over 2018EU40XXX. The reason high case numbers have risk is that some years (and I am guessing DV2018 will be one of these), KCC “over select” – meaning they select more winners than they need. We don’t have the details yet – but I think they have selected about 120k people. Many won’t proceed, many will get refused, but still there will probably be more winners than needed. Interviews are scheduled in case number order so high case numbers are at the end of a long line.
May 4, 2017 at 22:25
Hi Simon,

May 4, 2017 at 22:30
Sorry Brit I forgot this one question;
1. I am currently unemployed . Will it affect any of my chances in amyway? And should I go ahead and indicate I am umepmployed
2. Previously in October 2017 I worked as a Telesales Makerter, selling Loans over phone to Government Workers. Will this serve as Previous Job experience or something?
May 5, 2017 at 01:02
1. No problem. Lying will affect your chances – so tell the truth.
2. Well it is job experience but that is not at the level to qualify you.
May 5, 2017 at 00:14
Hello Britsimon,
I read your reply saying this year is one of the year that’s going to be difficult for higher CN.
1. You think there’s chance for AS111**?
I’m thinking about paying for lawyer for paper work and I’d like to know the chances before I invest time and effort.
From Japan here.
May 5, 2017 at 00:47
I don’t know.
Paying a lawyer is silly.
May 5, 2017 at 01:04
Hello! In my experience more information can you get thru Simon, use his website!!! He will give you more info than the lawyers! Trust me!
May 5, 2017 at 01:06
Hey Mr Simon, I just wanna know, will the DV Lottery be canceled anytime in near the future?
May 5, 2017 at 01:08
DV2019 won’t be cancelled. Aftyer that – I don’t know
May 5, 2017 at 01:26
Hi Brit
I was selected in DV2018, our asigned number is 2018SA6XX.
1. Currently I and my family are living in USA, seeking for politic asylum, applicate on January 2017, before expired our I94. Can we fill our DS-260 and ask for the interview to will be at USCIS?
2. Do you believe, we need to go to a third country do the interview?
Please, if you know about any case as our, let us know your experince
We appreciate your dedication and help in your blog
Thanks for your great support.
May 5, 2017 at 02:10

May 5, 2017 at 02:04
Hello BritSinom,
I am DV2018 winner but I did not register my wife and kid during my first entry.
Did they make any investigation to know that I am married or they just based to the info I provide them.
I am living in an European country and very easy for them to know my matrimonial status if they want.
Should I consider that I am disqualified or can I start the process as a single?
Thank U in advance!
May 5, 2017 at 02:11
Disqualified.
May 5, 2017 at 03:35
1. We currently reside in the US – I am working on an L1 visa and my husband on an L2 visa. However, instead of apply for Adjustment of Status, we would like to go back to Sydney, Austraila for our interview. Will my interview be assigned based on what I select when starting my DS-260?
2. I included my step son on my application. I have 4 other children too. My step son’s name appears incorreclty on the site where we can select to complete the DS-260 as his given name and surname switched. For example:
Surname: JOHN
Given Names: PAUL SMITH
However, it should be:
Surname: SMITH
Given Names: JOHN PAUL
2.1. Is there a way this can be updated in the Summary page? I updated it within the DS-260 form (saved but not submitted), but the summary page when I enter my case number still shows his surname and given names switched. Would the names displaying incorrectly be grounds or disqualification? His birth date and personal details are correct.
2.2. My step son does not live with us, and will not accompany us to the US (he only visits periodically) so can I elect to not process his DV further by simply not submiting a DS-260 for him?
2.3. My step son’s DS-260 says that “based on your country of residence at the time you submitted your DV lottery entry, you are currently residing in the United States”. As mentioned, he visits us periodically, we consder our home his home, but he does not live with us permanently. Since we are selecting to return to Sydney for the interview, does it matter that he gets this message?
2.4. On my DS-260, should I select “No” to accompanying me. His status on the summary information when I enter my case number says “accompany”.
3. My husband’s name on his birth certificate has his two middle names. However, his name on his Passport has only his one middle name. On the DV application, it matches his passport. I updated his DS-260 to include the name on the birth certificate, Is that the best thing to do? Or should I leave it as what is shown on his passport (and current L2 visa)?
Many thanks!!!
May 5, 2017 at 03:37
PS. I was selected in the 2018 DV Program
May 5, 2017 at 04:00
1. It is based on the option you select in the DS260. If you want a CP interview, email KCC and request that.
2.1 No. It isn’t a problem.
2.2 Correct
2.3 No
2.4 Correct
2.5 Passport name for the main name (for travel reasons) Use the alias field for the other version of the name
May 5, 2017 at 13:53
you are wonderful – thank you!
May 5, 2017 at 04:14
Do i need to own assets? What’s the minimum I need to show in my bank account to avoid being considered a public charge during the interview?
May 5, 2017 at 04:48

May 5, 2017 at 04:35
hi Brit
one of winner have seven children and was selected for dv2018,5 of them are above 21 years of age and only two are less than 21 i which to find out if all of them can benefit for visa if process their documents.
May 5, 2017 at 04:43
Children over 21 cannot be entered in the DV entry – so how has this person got 5 OVER 21 now???
Whilst there is a period of protection for children who turn 21 – it sounds like these 5 children are all aged out already and will not be derivatives.
May 5, 2017 at 04:39
I saw you said that for Asia ideally the case number should be less than 5000. Mine is over 6000. Do I have a chance then?
Thank you.
May 5, 2017 at 04:41
I think you misunderstood. 6000 is good.
May 5, 2017 at 04:48
Hi dear BRIT
Mine is around 1300 in Asia do I have chance
Thanks
May 5, 2017 at 05:09
Obviously.
May 5, 2017 at 05:16
Hi BRIT
I am really sorry for disturbing but my friends case number is around 129xx
Is there a chance or not
Thanks once again
May 5, 2017 at 05:20
Hi BRIT
I am really sorry for disturbing but my friends case number is around AS129xx
Is there a chance or not
Thanks once again
May 5, 2017 at 05:31
That is the highest number I have seen. That means you have a long nervous wait.
May 5, 2017 at 05:36
Thanks for replying Dear BRIT
i have two question regarding this:
1. how long it might take to call for interview, guess for me?
2. is it possible that they won’t call me and my case will end forever?
Thanks!
May 5, 2017 at 05:37
1. Over 1 year.
2. Yes
May 5, 2017 at 06:37
HI BRIT
i am really feeling disappointed with my high case number…
1. what was the highest case number of Asia for DV-2017
2. where to find the highest case number of Asia for DV-2018
Thanks in advance!
May 5, 2017 at 08:49
1. 11XXX
2. Maybe on your letter – other than that – the highest number is not yet known.
May 7, 2017 at 21:50
When you said AS6000 and something is good, it means I will get the interview for sure? How soon?
Thanks a lot.
May 8, 2017 at 00:13
Patience.
May 5, 2017 at 05:01
Hi Mr. Brit,
Im from srilanka and my interview was held yesterday in the us embassy colombo. I applied through my work experience. Apparently theres no issue with work experience but they say i need a degree to work in that field. I dont understand their way of judging. And i applied as a family but i only paid for myself because the lady at the counter asked me to do so. However i felt that she was trying to reject before the consular office interviewed either. And during my interview the lady from the counter came into the interview room several times to discuss with CO. I want to know does she have the right to do so?
May 5, 2017 at 05:09
Of course.
May 5, 2017 at 06:23
Hi Britsimon,
I’m an Australian who got selected this year albeit with a relatively high case number (2200s). I have two questions regarding qualification (I have read the education and work experience section):
1. I did not finish high school although I have Bachelors + Honours + Masters degrees. Should I take my chances and try to qualify on these grounds?
2. I am a registered psychologist and currently employed in full-time work since last October, but may not have two full years of experience by the time of my visa interview. However I have interned in various placements as part of my training and including this would put me over the 2 year threshold – do you have any idea if interning or unpaid work counts towards work experience?
May 5, 2017 at 08:45
1. Yes
2. They might.
May 5, 2017 at 06:24
Hello! I have just been reading through your post about completing the DS260 form and just wondering if you have some advice on passports. Our passports expired in march 2017 so we need to renew. You mention that if passports expire during the process you would suggest submitting the application with the old passports and then renewing so that you can update the application form before the interview.
So, as I want to get my application in asap, would I be able to submit the application using our passports with March 2017 expiry, then renew our passports and then update the application with the new passport numbers once we receive them? Will this disqualify the application by entering an expired passport? Our case number is very high so I can’t imagine we would get an interview anytime this year if there are even still any greencards left by the time it’s our turn. We are OC region case number in the 900s so I imagine we’d have plenty of time to update the application but am wondering if there’s some kind of autmatic thing where if anyone enters an expired passport will it just automatically disqualify our application?
Thanks so much in advice for your response! :o)
May 5, 2017 at 08:46
You know you will have to wait for your case number, so why are you in such a hurry to submit your DS260???? Slow down. Get the passports then submit.
May 5, 2017 at 08:57
I already have a case number – is this not what’s I’ve been provided on my letter telling me I can now submit my DS260? I wanted to get my application in asap as I thought the visa were on a first come first basis so if I have a high case number (which I think I do), I wanted to get my app as soon as I could. Sorry for wasting your time, thanks for your response.
May 5, 2017 at 08:58
It is by case number order – so rushing to submit won’t speed up your case.
May 5, 2017 at 09:13
Hi brit , my dad says he wants to apply for the dv lottery but he have no education certificate . He works as a big truck driver those which supply water to some areas
And he have an experience in this so can he really apply ? I saw the job family page and it’s so confusing to be honest ?
May 5, 2017 at 09:20
That work experience will not suffice.
May 5, 2017 at 09:56
Aha but I saw the list of the Onetonline page and there was a driver on the list , in short anyone experienced in driving only can’t apply for the dv right ?
May 5, 2017 at 16:24
The job has to be a certain level (SVP above 7). So that work experience won’t pass.
May 5, 2017 at 12:33
Ok, thanks for the info. I was only rushing because I was reading on the immigration.com forum that you can get an earlier interview if you get your application in earlier but I leaning towards waiting for our new passports so that it didn’t cause any issues later on. Thanks!
May 5, 2017 at 16:14
Yep – you had misunderstood.
May 5, 2017 at 06:32
Hello Mr.Brit. My mom has been selected for further proccesing for DV-2018. We are all worried for just one thing. My mom has finished a 5-year time reducted(as it’s called in my country Albania) general high school but still with all the grades of each subject for each year and in the end of the diploma it says “the person it is known the completion of high school education”. Does this diploma meets the neccesary requirements for the education? I’m waiting in anxiety for your response. Best regards.
May 5, 2017 at 08:47
I don’t know what that means in that country.
May 5, 2017 at 12:12
It’s a part time schoo or corrispondence school
May 5, 2017 at 16:18
That probably does not meet the requirements
May 5, 2017 at 08:16
Hi
I have a question simon or whomever can help me with this I really appreciate it. I was selected in the lotter 2018, but all the documents from my home country( iran ) are in a different language ( Farsi). However, I am currently working for in Malaysia. Should I apply here in the US embassy or go back home and apply there?
PS: my working visa finishes by November 2017.
May 5, 2017 at 08:55
So it depends on your case number – most interviews will happen after November
May 5, 2017 at 12:19
Thanks for the quick reply.
I heard that since the Ankara Embassy is more familiar with application that comes from Iran, they tend to be more familiar with the documents and such.
My question is,
– does it make any difference if I set my interview to Malaysia, or should I do it here in Malaysia?
My visa will be renewed in Malaysia..
May 5, 2017 at 12:23
Sorry there was typo in my previous reply.

Embassies are less likely to need to delay approval if they are presented with documents that they are used to seeing.
May 5, 2017 at 11:12
hey brit i have followed ur posts for a year now and they were very heipfull to me so thank you.and i want to to ask you sth that is i was interviewed yesterday at two stations in the first window they told me i have submitted untranslated birth certificate but that would not avoid me from being interviewed by the officer but still i need to send them the translated version through dhl. and the second interviewer told me i could get my visa after a week and congragulates me my question is 1,do i really need to send it since they told me i can get my visa 2;if i should how quickly should i send it to them. tnx in advance
May 5, 2017 at 16:20
1. Yes. After all this time you should have been prepared.
2. As soon as possible.
May 5, 2017 at 12:33
i have send this message 2 times before but they are waiting for moderation’s approval. i guess it causes by instruction’s link so i am deleting the link.
Hi, i have a question
do not submit an old photograph. submitting the same photograph that you submitted with last year’s entry will result in disqualification. (page 6)
ıf your photo(s) did not meet the specifications, the e-dv website will not accept your entry , so you will not receive a confirmation notice.(faq 20)
DV-2018 Instructions English
thousands of dv2018 entrants have reused old photos to enter. many believe this is why they cannot access their results. many have won with old photos. why weren’t they disqualified per the dv lottery ınstructions?
they have gained an unfair advantage over those who followed the rules. this is fraud that should be reported to and investigated by dos and oıg…
i saw it on a Turkish internet community.
what do you think about this ?
May 5, 2017 at 16:13
That is a lot of nonsense.
Old photos were not the cause of people having trouble checking.
How did using an old photo give anyone an advantage over those that followed the rules?? Whoever said that in the Turkish forum or anywhere else is an idiot.
May 5, 2017 at 17:39
Maybe but i think they are right.
It’s about rules and rules saying that if your photo(s) did not meet the specifications, the e-dv website will not accept your entry.
Using an old photo is forbidden and they are taking visa with old photos. But someone who followed the rules can’t.
Is lottery can be re drawn ?
May 5, 2017 at 17:46
Again, this is nonsense – and you haven’t answered my question. No, the lottery will not be redrawn.
May 5, 2017 at 18:01
When dv-2012, same thing happened and they didn’t accept the issue first time but at the end they renewed.
Using an old photo is forbidden and they are taking visa with old photos. But someone who followed the rules can’t.
First example shouldn’t get the visa but they are getting it, second one should take the visa but they can’t.
they have gained an unfair advantage over those who followed the rules.
It’s about that i think.
Why don’t they re-drawn it is clear in DV-2018 Program Instruction, isn’t it unfair for us ?
May 5, 2017 at 18:07
No! You still haven’t answered my question. How does that give someone an advantage????? It doesn’t! So no – it is not unfair. Don’t keep saying that UNLESS you can explain why it disadvantaged the people who followed the rules.
There are 50000 visas. Many will have been disqualified already (probably around 40,000). After those initial disqualifications, they have informed around 120,000. Many will not proceed, many will be disqualified/refused during interview, and there will be some who will not get a chance to interview.
So again – tell me CLEARLY how it is unfair!
May 5, 2017 at 12:50
hello, i have question simon I have an interview in the month of June my Passport expired 2018 August, Will there be problems?
May 5, 2017 at 14:38
No
May 5, 2017 at 12:57
Hi Simon,
Sorry for repeating the question.
previously I asked you – My wife is winner of DV2018 and I already have F1 and she has F2 but we have not entered the USA. As per our F1 / F2, we can enter the USA by end of July 2017 only.
Now, my question is:
1. I enter the USA by end of July 2017 and submit my DS260 by end of July or First week of August as status change, it is possible?
2. CN is AS13**, I delay my DS260 upto First week of Aug 2017, will it impact possibility to get NL2 or chance of interview?
and you answered me:
Enter under your F1. Once entered (and waiting for 30/60/90 rule) submit your DS260 and I-485. That will be a delay – but safer.
Now, my questions is:
1. if it is possible to cancel F1/F2?
2. If yes, any risk associated?
May 5, 2017 at 14:37
1. I don’t know – but you can simply not use it (i.e. don’t enter under that status..
2. I don’t know.
I do think you are being silly. Live your life and process DV within that. THere is no problem with what I suggested before.
May 5, 2017 at 14:48
Thank you very much… I was just confused but now you cleared me everything… Thanks for your support!!!
May 5, 2017 at 12:57
Dear Simon.
Please, I need your help. I’ve checked multiple times and since the error was fixed, it is still showing – invalid number. But 100% I typed correct one, name and date of birth. What should do I do? How can I chek my result. I even tried few different browsers.
Thanks,
May 5, 2017 at 14:34
The problem is fixed, so now it is because you are doing something wrong.

Thank you!
May 5, 2017 at 13:11
Hi , I am in DV2018 and just finished completing DS260 for myself and families. I saw on summary page all members indicated “Completed “, is it fine already? There is no message coming up to tell me next step. Just want to make sure I didn’t miss any step.
Besides may I know if 50,000 quota includes derivatives?
Thanks so much!
May 5, 2017 at 14:31
NOw you just wait.
Derivatives are included in the 50k.
May 5, 2017 at 15:26
Thanks!
May 5, 2017 at 14:28
Hi
I have been selected in the 2018 dv lottery
1. I’m from Morocco but I’m in China currently. For the mailing and present address should I use my address in Morocco or China? And also the phone number should I use my phone number in China because the one in Morocco I don’t use it any more ?
2. My number is 26xxx do I have a chance or not ?
May 5, 2017 at 16:10
1. You can decide this!
2. Always quote your number as 2018AF26XXX. That’s a good number.
May 5, 2017 at 16:13
thanks a lot
May 5, 2017 at 14:39
Brit please I was selected for the dv2018 my case number is 2018AF00051*** please do I stand a chance ?
May 5, 2017 at 16:05
It is far too early to know.
May 5, 2017 at 14:55
Hi. I won DV2018, also my wife won DV2018. İf I and my wife submit DS 260 for each us. Will there be any problem?
May 5, 2017 at 16:02
No problem. You would typically process one case first – and you would each submit a DS260 as a derivative on the others case.
May 5, 2017 at 15:10
we had our interview yesterday, and they sad welcome to USA. Thanks britsimon for your consulations. Thanks for the guidance. Best regards
May 5, 2017 at 15:20

May 5, 2017 at 16:01

May 5, 2017 at 15:51
Does part time or corrispodence school meet the requirements of education?
May 5, 2017 at 15:59
No
May 5, 2017 at 16:11
My interview is in 2 weeks. I plan to print my bank statements and have them stamped by the bank this weekend.
Does that sound ok or should it be closer to the interview?
May 5, 2017 at 16:31
It’s OK.
May 5, 2017 at 16:14

May 5, 2017 at 16:30
No
May 5, 2017 at 16:23
Hello Mr. Simon,
We have a problem with DV-2018
Can you take a look following links, please ?

https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Diversity-Visa/DV-Instructions-Translations/DV-2018-Instructions-Translations/DV-2018%20Instructions%20English.pdf
We want to know our rights about cancelling this dv-2018 lottery.
Everyone know that thousands of DV2018 entrants have reused last year’s photos to enter.
It should be investigated and lottery should be repeated i think.
Thank You.
May 5, 2017 at 16:29
Some people didn’t follow the rules – big surprise. Why do you think that means the lottery should be re-drawn???
May 5, 2017 at 17:26
Because i believe that it makes lottery unfair, and we dont even know what was the problem ? ( information is not valid )
It’s ok for some people but government should follow the rules.
What should we do for new fair lottery for DV2018 ?
May 5, 2017 at 17:39
Your argument makes no sense. Just because people broke the rules – it does not mean that those people haven’t been (or won’t be) disqualified – but regardless that is up to the government, not you nor I.
We do know what was the problem – I explained it, and we have certain proof that at least some people who were seeing not valid got selected – meaning that group were included in the draw.
You have no basis on which to “complain”. I suggest you accept that and try again in DV2019. But understand it is a ***lottery***, not a plan, and not a right.
May 5, 2017 at 17:49
I have read your writing and it was a theory, not certain explanation.
I think i have a point and government should re-drawn the lottery, because these people affected lottery’s result.
How can i ask it to govenment ? I want to let them know.
May 5, 2017 at 17:58
Oh man. I’ve explained you just do want to listen. Feel free to take it up with the government – I don’t know who you would contact.
