I have created two videos that discuss the current progress being made in DV2023, and also a second one that shows how to determine if your embassy is backlogged. If you are not already scheduled, you would be wise to watch these videos.

Dear Brit,
Thanks for your very helpful videos on your website.
My Case No. is AS53xx (from IRAN) and I sent Ds260 at the end of July 2022. My interview location is in Ankara. I did not receive the 2NL from K.C.C. yet!
My question is that should I be worried about getting the invitation?
If yes, may I change my interview location?
May 27, 2023 at 11:20
Yes you are at risk, but you probably can’t change. You just have to hope to get an interview. However, if you are a male Iranian you have a very high risk of 221g which would last too long to be approved. So – your chances (especially if male) are very small, almost none.

Dear Brit, Thanks for the comprehensive information on your blog.
My Case No. is AS1xxx, post from Ankara. I sent my Ds260 in October when I was current, but I did not receive the 2NL from K.C.C yet! I am just wondering if are you recommended to contact K.C.C. about my situation.
I am concerned that to delay receive 2NL!!
May 5, 2023 at 14:16
You were unwise to delay submitting your DS260. You had a low case number you should have submitted in May/June.
Now Ankara are restricting the number of interviews they take each month, and your submission delay will have meant that other case will be in line before you. So you just have to wait and hope you will be scheduled.

Dear Simon
Iam a selectee from somalia i entered Dv country of birth from somalia and all my documents are somali too , i also have a Djiboutian citizenship and Djiboutian passport.
So my question is:-
1. Can i bring or use my Djiboutian passport to my visa interview instead of my somali one since i dont have it now.
2. Will doing so cause a problem to my case or has a history of denial since all my documents are somali except the djiboutian passport
………
Iam really worried
May 5, 2023 at 14:14

March 2, 2023 at 00:44
High brit, am a DC 2023 selectee cn 1479* submitted my DS 260 on June 12, unlocked October 4th, processed in January,
1. do I still stand a chance for interview
2. Is it the unlocking that caused the delay or it’s normal
March 2, 2023 at 08:58
Your chance and timing for interview depends on your embassy. I can’t guess that. I can’t even guess your region as you have assumed.
February 20, 2023 at 14:12
Hi, brits. As usual I really would like thank your pro active infos around all area. Please kindly I would like to find out what would it be a reason to my recent incident which is a sudden rescheduling of my interview appointment without my request in Johannesburg within the interval of 20 days. And is this normal? Thanks.
February 21, 2023 at 16:53
I don’t know why they did that. Maybe a staff member was sick or on vacation. Relax.

Hello,
Really appreciate your help!
I watched your video and then checked Tirana, Albania Embassy.
They have cases ready from 0-16000. Then they have zero cases ready from 16000-24000 and one case ready in the area 24000-28000 until now.
1- What is your opinion on this jump please? From 16000 to 24000-28000 cases. So could it be that there are no cases in the gap area for Tirana embassy?
2- Does this gap mean anything for cases above the area 16000-24000?
3- Does it look like they are working normally until now to you please?
Thanks again! All the best!
February 20, 2023 at 09:43
1. No it does not mean that – the outlier is probably a case transfer or something like that.
2. It means the embassy is backlogged so there will be a delay.
3. See 2

Britsimon I’m a selectee for the dv2023 but after filling my ds260 in August 2023 till date I haven’t heard from the authorities
February 17, 2023 at 17:11
That could be because of your late submission, or it could be that your embassy is backlogged, or that your case number is not current.
February 14, 2023 at 13:10
As 19×××
February 14, 2023 at 23:03
Visa Bulletin for April Shows your case is not current. April Cut off is 18500.
February 14, 2023 at 13:07
CEAC says that my case is in NVC
And I am still not current.
February 14, 2023 at 08:07
I fill my Ds260 in 28 september.
Mr, brithsimon what should I do
February 14, 2023 at 09:12
All you can do is hope.
February 14, 2023 at 13:11
I hope so
February 14, 2023 at 08:03
Why it says you will miss out what should I do please help me
February 14, 2023 at 08:02
There are 10507 cases before and 1879 after you in the AS region. That yields approximately 20395 people before and 3647 after you. You are in 85th percentile. There’s a significant risk you’ll miss out.
My intreview will be in Islamabad

You are right to be worried. If you can move to another country, so that.

Hello Simon
Thank you for your effort and would like to ask you few question
1.I am Ethiopia whos residing in china and working and my interview location is Guangzhou. I am in addis ababa for family visit since December 21,2022 can i get police certificate from addis ? have already have from china.
2. Can get filled by friend from US form I-134 right now due to my case is current for march ?
3.How do i know if my DS 260 processed ?
4. Do you think guangzhou is good or change location for Hong kong ?
5. I am second time winner of DV and i want to carefully listen your advice and appreciated for your kindness to give us right information.
February 12, 2023 at 13:44
1. You only need the police cert for countries after 12 months.
2. Wait until the 2NL
3. You can email KCC and ask.
4. You don’t have a choice.
February 11, 2023 at 15:57
Hi Simon, I currently write to KCC 1 February about my case and they replied my case is current and ready to be schedule which can not be unlock. I want to know if am getting my appointment soon.
February 12, 2023 at 13:46
It depends on the status of your embassy.
February 10, 2023 at 19:55
Hi Simon, a quick question. The CEAC has been updated today (Feb 10th). I would like to understand why some embassies like Montreal or Paris have no update since Jan 20. Does it mean that there is no data or there is no change since that date ?(probably a backlog). Thanks for your feedback.
February 11, 2023 at 08:45
It just means they were not given any additional 2NLs, which is normal. Embassies are typically (not always) given their cases in a single batch during the month.
February 9, 2023 at 21:41
Good morning sir. I’m a dv 2020 winner from Cameroon. We were interviewed and asked us to come with some evidence that we dated before we got married since I was with my wife. We presented to the embassy some pictures as evidence on the 31st September 2020 and they told us they will get back to us. Since then they haven’t given us feedback but our status shows REFUSED. I emailed the embassy in oct 2022 to know our situation since our passports and other vital documents were still at the embassy. They asked us to pick up our documents from DHL and that our year was closed. We collected the documents from DHL and they were just in the same state as we gave it to them. No additional information was added to our documents. We are left frustrated at this point in time. What then is the solution to this our problem?
February 9, 2023 at 23:44
Normally, the answer would be that there is no possible solution since the process ends on September 30th each year. However, you may get another chance if the lawsuit appeal outcome is positive. I suggest you pay attention carefully to announcements about that here over the next weeks and months.
February 6, 2023 at 12:24
Hi Simon,
Thank you for the valuable information of the latest videos. Just wanted to clarify a point which you mentioned at the video.
I believe at 31′:58″ of the below video you meant “if you’re not in the AV queue” or “you’re still not current” . So if we’re not current or not at the AV queue regardless of the DS-260 being processed or not, we hopefully would be able to unlock, change the address and re-submit and tell KCC to schedule our case at the new embassy.
February 7, 2023 at 18:37
Correct.
February 5, 2023 at 00:20
Hello BritSimon. I do live and work in Nairobi. Was thinking of changing embassy in Dares Salaam. However, I can’t leave my country coz of work. But I can go to Tanzania easily for short time periods. Do I need to proof that I live in Tanzania while requesting KCC for changing location?
February 5, 2023 at 09:45
KCC or the embassy might ask for some proof – I can’t be sure.
February 5, 2023 at 13:40
OK. Thank you.
February 6, 2023 at 03:29
Hello BritSimon, please any information about dv2020 case
February 7, 2023 at 18:34
Still waiting for the appeal outcome.
