The new Visa Bulletin was just released, giving the numbers which will be current for April interviews. If your DS260 has been processed, and you are now current, then you should be getting your interview notification soon, but it depends on your embassy.
There has not been very much movement in the case numbers, which shouldn’t be a surprise given the very large number of cases that were already current and waiting for scheduling. The VB numbers are well ahead of where they *need* to be in order to fill the embassy capacity, and issuance and scheduling numbers are looking healthy (ignoring the issue of the embassies that are not behaving well).
DS260 processing is very advanced now – with a few cases as late as December being processed, so we can say that the backlog of DS260 processing is pretty much gone. If you are still waiting for your DS260 to be processed, it probably shows there were some necessary delays with processing of your particular case.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a hadful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So, for example – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from a few countries, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hi Brit
2025AF4XX,
Successfully submitted DS260, in which month I should expect 2NL?
thanks
May 19, 2024 at 08:26
It could come as early as August for an October interview, but depends on how fast your DS260 is processed.
April 15, 2023 at 05:26
Thank you Britsimon. All I learned they is that you should just be truthful because if we were not the consular office could will refuse us that visa my husband had to insist until she has to put us in AP for processing up his Bacc certificate.and in my case I am still waiting for my child and medical report shows that.. it’s was just to force word in my mind and . And if actually I was having children I could have fall for it thanks God I was just speaking my truth.
April 15, 2023 at 05:13
Thank you so much for your good work. If I had children before why will I not put them. The medical report is not true, because I am not having me kids and God is still to bless me with one which I can’t wait to have. Just a all I learned they is that you should just speak the truth and we did just that. We are still waiting for them. But does it’s take time to study your case because I did not just see what was wrong with my husband’s documents. She just wanted to to refuse us that visa but God refuse.
April 14, 2023 at 12:15
Good day Britsimon.i am having some worried. I and my husband had our interview on the 11 of April at Yaounde embassy but at the end of the day I did not just understand what the consular office wanted. She started by telling my husband that his baccalaureate is not the good one and why is it that my husband had to write Bacc but in central African he said was his father decision until she was insisting that is not good certificate until my husband had to show proof to her on the certified true copy from their embassy in Yaounde.she end up putting us in AP. After she started with me insisting that I am having two kids . I did not just understand me such an interview. Do they really follow up cases under Ap
April 14, 2023 at 13:05
It sounds like they have concerns that you have left the children off your entry. I don’t know what the outcome will be.

Gd day Britsimon

My wife was previously called (e.g Ann Sawe), which is placed on her high school documents and after we both got married, her name now changed to Ann S . Duncan. Now, on her passport, police certificate, and marriage certificate, she’s carrying Ann S Duncan.
Does she need an affidavit of Charge of name document??
March 26, 2023 at 21:59
If her name changed through marriage, then the marriage documents show the evidence for the change (they typically list maiden and married names)
March 24, 2023 at 10:06
Hi Brit
I am really worried 😧
On my High School documents my middle name is not spelled out but on my Passport, birth certificate and college documents my middle name is spelled out.
Will that cause problem for me??
March 25, 2023 at 16:14
No
March 21, 2023 at 21:46

February 27, 2023 at 01:57
Hello Simon,
I am from Mongolia. My case number is AS74XX but I submitted my DS-260 a month ago (Jan 29th). I still haven’t received 2NL. Do you think I should receive it soon or it can take time because I submitted late? Thank you.
February 27, 2023 at 16:48
You have obviously caused some delay because of your late submission. So – show some patience.
February 27, 2023 at 21:11
Ok. Thanks!
February 21, 2023 at 20:50
Hi Simon,
My CN is EU342XX and my current assigned embassy is Brussels (I am Belgian) but I study and live in England.
IF my case does become current, would I have a better chance for interview at the Brussels embassy or London embassy? As there is very little data on Brussels embassy I can’t tell if they are being efficient or not.
I have submitted my DS-260 on the 9th of May. Would it increase my chances to change my embassy to London?
Thanks!
February 21, 2023 at 21:16
They would both have the same chance.
February 20, 2023 at 12:41
hello simon
I want to understand which embassy works better between Chisinau ,Moldova and Naples,Italy.
My case number is 2023 EU 29K. My case became current with March VB for April. Interview should be scheduled in Naples but I was selected for Moldova. I want to understand if I should consider asking to move my case to Moldova’s Embassy.
From the statistic website(https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY23.html) on how embassies work I’ve noticed as of Feb 17th(last update) Moldova sent 32 additional invitations for EU while Italy added 1 case on Feb 3rd and there is no data for Feb 17. Both embassies so far invited up to 26K as case number(as per that statistic). Moldova so far counts 91 EU cases(31 issued+60 ready) last update Feb 17th, Italy counts 39 EU cases(14 issued+25 ready) last update Feb 3rd. Do you think Italy is creating a queue?
My ds-260 has a “at NVC” status and when I emailed KCC 2 days ago they replied saying: “Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. “.
February 21, 2023 at 16:52
Both embassies are fine. No need to try to move.
February 19, 2023 at 15:08
DV2023 EU9k from Macedonia.
My interview has been scheduled for early April, received the 2NL on 15th of Feb.
1. I have all documents prepared for the interview, but on macedonian language.
Should I prepare translation to english of the documents?
Or should I contact the embassy and ask what documents i’ll be needed for the interview?
2. How are medicals scheduled?
Will the embassy notify me, or should i call them or the hospital directly?
3. Should i register and make the appointment on this site: ais.usvisa-info.com?
And do you have guidelines on the blog because i don’t remember that i’ve seen such, and i don’t want to make some mistake here.
4. I am also DV2020 plaintiff, that ‘probably’ still have a chance there, but doesn’t matter now.
Then as single, now married in DV2023. Then it never came to the 2NL, but are there any possibilities that this case would be questioned on the interview now?
Thank you very much and soon i’ll comment from the US 😉
February 20, 2023 at 09:55
1. Documents do not need translation if they are in the local language of the embassy.
2. You scheduled it.
3. Some embassies have you register at such a site, yes. I don’t have a guide since the sites vary.
4. No.
February 19, 2023 at 12:55
Hi sir. I had to changed my name after my high school graduation through the court. Am going for interview in April. Will it be a concern.
February 20, 2023 at 09:51
Not as long as you show the paperwork.
February 19, 2023 at 09:21
Dear Brits,
First and foremost, I would like to thank you for everything. I got 2nl on 15th this month. I would like to ask you the following question please
1. I was about to change my interview location to HK , is that possible?
2. Now I can ask a good friend to fill I-134 and send me a scan?
3. How long will this medical examination take and is any country recognized suggested from US embassy possible for other country’s possible if i take from Addis Ababa for china.?
4.I already have a police certificate since December 13,2022. Is that enough or do I need to get a new one ?
5. Do you think if I go in the first week of March I will have enough time to prepare for April from Addis to china ?
February 20, 2023 at 09:48
1. It might be possible, but will cause a delay.
2. Yes
3. You must have the medical at a physician approved by the interviewing embassy – so normally in country.
4. That’s OK
5. I don’t know.
February 19, 2023 at 04:12
Hi Simon, my case number is EU29K. Haven’t received mail for an interview yet. My wife is pregnant now, 2 months. What is the process for this type of situation? Do I need to take an action to send email to kcc or what is the guidance?
February 20, 2023 at 09:45
No need to do anything. She will be pregnant at the interview, there is a procedure to add a baby after interview. During the medical your wife will use a shield for the xray.

February 16, 2023 at 16:40

Am from Cameroon Yaounde…and my case number is Af31k I submitted my ds260 around 20th May 2022 and haven’t received my 2NL…as yet…just wanna know my chances…?
February 17, 2023 at 16:57
You have some chance – I can’t predict how much.
February 15, 2023 at 11:06
Hello I found this so helpful I’m from South Sudan I don’t know..let me know if this will be helpful to me thanks!
February 15, 2023 at 10:03
I know a relative who received his 2NL on February 01, 2023 for 8 March 2023 for appointement
February 15, 2023 at 09:26
Hello Simon,
My case number is EU342XX.
My DS-260 has been successfully processed.
I was wondering whether you have any opinion on the movement we have seen for the EU cut-offs going from 15k to 30k within two months.
1. I know you don’t do predictions, but do you have an opinion on whether this movement is a good indicator for those with CNs as high as I do, or whether it doesn’t really mean much.
2. Furthermore, my embassy is Brussels, and since there are very few cases being interviewed there in the first place, I wasn’t able to figure out whether they are being efficient or not with the interviews. Assuming that there are no issues with my embassy, would my CN going current at some point mean that I *probably* will get an interview?
I guess what I am asking is: do they make CNs current only if they expect that those CNs will all get a chance to have an interview before they run out of visas?
3. Once current, is my “chance” or “place in line” for interview based on everyone else in the EU region, or only those who will be interviewed in the same embassy as me?
Thank you!
February 16, 2023 at 16:38
Hello Bo, how do you know that your ds260? did they send you an email or how do they notify you?
February 17, 2023 at 16:55
1. No prediction.
2. Being current is what you need.
3. Same embassy.
February 15, 2023 at 09:08
Thank you for all your work on this. Other than writing to KCC, is there any way to find out if your DS-260 has been processed? Ours shows At NVC on the CEAC site.
February 17, 2023 at 16:54
No.
February 15, 2023 at 06:43
Hello,
I have a question. What happened to DV 2021 winner?
We won Lottery in 2021 but embbasy didn’t call us yet ?
February 17, 2023 at 16:54
For plaintiffs in the DV2021 lawsuits, the appeal outcome is still awaited. For non plaintiffs, the chance has gone.
February 15, 2023 at 06:22
My CN has always been active because its in the hundreds. I filed my ds260 in September but I’m yet to receive a 2NL. Could it be that the delay is because my embassy in this case, Accra is not processing at a faster rate
February 17, 2023 at 16:53
Yes the embassy is a factor, but mostly your late submission is the reason you are delayed.
February 15, 2023 at 01:40
Hello Brit, i never comment but your content is always very helpful, thanks!
I have a question: I’m getting married 1st March, so i contacted KCC to open my DS-260 but since i’m current (EU27***) they said i can’t edit my DS-260 anymore and i have to take all the documents/spouse to the interview.
Honestly, do you think i’m at risk of being rejected? I would have preferred to edit my DS-260 with my spouse but for just 1 day i couldn’t open it…
I’m sooo afraid to bring my spouse at the interview without them knowing anything about it!
Thank you so much, have a great day!
February 17, 2023 at 16:51
Email the embassy and ask them how to handle it.
February 14, 2023 at 13:05
Hello Brit,
Hope you are doing well! Thanks a lot for being helpful as always!
1-Since cut-off for Eu now is 30000, Eu28xxx case number should also expect 2NL?
2-If a cut-off number is shown, does it normally mean that all numbers below are supposed to get that interview date?
3-Just one more question please. How can you tell if Ds-260 is processed?
When I check at CEAC it says “At NVC”
All the best!
February 17, 2023 at 16:49
1. It means that 28XXX can get an interview, not “will”.
2. In a normal year, yes – but it might not work that way.
3. You email KCC.
February 14, 2023 at 11:36
Hello Brit
I tried reaching an embassy to accept my case as which has been current but yet to be locked by KCC. I have not had any reply and is been a week now since they are not replying is it safe to go on and request KCC to change the embassy even though I have not received the green light
February 17, 2023 at 16:44
You cannot change the embassy selected in the DS260 – I suggest you remain patient.
