The new Visa Bulletin was just released, giving the numbers which will be current for May interviews. If your DS260 has been processed, and you are now current, then you should be getting your interview notification soon, but it depends on your embassy.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a hadful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So, for example – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from a few countries, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hi Brit, I just got to the US with F1 status. My wife is DV 2023AF48XXX, Accra. Case is still at NVC. I want to move my interview location to the US. KCC and US Embassy in Accra seem not to know who should attend to me. Please advice on options available to me, and procedure to follow. Time is running out on Sep 30.
September 3, 2023 at 17:31
You don’t have any options left. There are too many people already scheduled for interview, and they won’t schedule any more.

Hi Simon!
When it says something like Asia: 18 750 (Except: Iran/Nepal – 6000,17775).
Say for the case of Iran, does that mean that if an Iranian National has a case number of 2023AS10XXX they would not be eligible for the interview yet even though for Asia it says 18750 as it mentions Iran 6000?
Forgive me if this has been answered before, I could not find it in the videos which I have watched
May 9, 2023 at 08:26
Yes – the country “except” numbers slow down activity from people charged to those countries.
May 9, 2023 at 11:19
Interesting, is there a reason given as to why this is done?
May 9, 2023 at 16:47
Some countries have a massive percentage of the regional selectees, and the selectees are concentrated in a single embassy. Nepal would be an example of that. So if they removed the country exception, then they will have made all Nepalese cases current months early.

Good Evening Simon,
Please I have been checking the website (https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY23.html) you provided to track the Embassies performance on the DV Lottery interviews.
I noticed that Nigeria Embassy have since not started receiving DV Lottery applications for interviews.
Please do you have any idea why Nigeria Embassy have not started interviewing DV Lottery applicants.
Thank you.
May 5, 2023 at 14:36
They have made a decision to prioritize other types of cases, and not DV. I don’t know why.
May 5, 2023 at 21:27
Thank you for the information I do really appreciate it.
April 27, 2023 at 01:31

Thank you.
April 27, 2023 at 09:05

Thank you so much for the reply. I really appreciate it.

Thank you so much for your reply.
April 25, 2023 at 03:04
Hi Brit, your professional contribution is remarkable to all of us. Thank you so much. My case (2023AF81**) has been current since December, 2022.
KCC says, “Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov”
1. Please you may brief me what KCC is saying?
2.please you may update me about the current performance /progress of US Embassy ADD/(Ethiopia)?
April 25, 2023 at 15:48
1. That you are in a queue of people that are ready to interview.
2. You can check the data for yourself. Addis is still restricting interviews and has a backlog.
April 16, 2023 at 16:27
I have the number 48xxx but still do not received the 2NL
April 16, 2023 at 18:09
OK.
April 15, 2023 at 10:08
Hi brit, will ghana embassy increase it number of interview as time goes on cause my case is AF792* and still havnt gotten my 2nl
April 10, 2023 at 10:02
Hi Brit my case number is 2023AF24***. My form was submitted 9th June 2022 with Accra-Ghana as selected location. Though my case has been current for some time I have still not received a 2nl. when i check my status on the CAEC website it says at NVC. The DV2023 Raw CEAC Data from xarthisius though unofficial also captures my case as at “NVC” with every other column “none”.
1. please what will be your advice for me since I’ve heard nothing though my case became current months ago?
2. Is too late and risky to change an embassy?
3. Would writing to KCC to find out if i’ve been processed make a difference?
April 14, 2023 at 12:50
Accra are only accepting a small number of cases for interview each month, and since you are waiting in the queue, KCC will not want to move you to another embassy UNLESS that embassy asks for your case on your behalf. That generally only happens when someone has moved to another country and has full cooperation from the embassy in that country.
April 15, 2023 at 06:56
Thanks. So it means I’m left with no option than to hope the Ghana embassy works magic?(which doesn’t look likely)
* from my own estimation based on this slow pace there will be no way the Ghana embassy will get to AF25*** before September.
Its pathetic that all we can do is wait when the signs don’t seem favourable.
April 10, 2023 at 01:09
Hi Simon,
I’m from Russia and my case number is 26***. My visa number is current, but the interview at the embassy in Warsaw has not been scheduled yet. Is it normal? I submitted my DS-260 in May, 2022. How soon can I expect 2NL?
Thanks,
Victor

I don’t know.
April 2, 2023 at 11:46
GOOD DAY SIMON ,
MY CASE NUMBER IS 2023AF2××××
CAIRO EGYPT EMBASSY WE RESTRECTED BY THE CUT OFF NUMBER 18650 WE ARE AT THE VERY BEGINING OF THE 20K , WE ARE VERY WORRIED ABOUT THE CAPABILITY OF THE USA USA EMBASSY IN CAIRO TO REACH OUR NUMBER. AND ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS OF dvcharts.xarthisius.IT SHOWS THAT ALL COUNTRIES EXCEPT EGYPT RECIEVED THE NEW 2NL OF THE CURRENT VB WITH FOR EXAMPLE ALGERIA RECIEVED ABOUT 350 2NLS AND MOROCCO RECIEVED ABOUT 320 2NLS.. WE ARE VERY WORRIED
April 2, 2023 at 13:57
Yes I understand. All you can do is wait and hope.
April 1, 2023 at 22:38
HELLO
SARPONG FROM GHANA I’M 2023AF37XXX I WANT TO KNOW HOW THE EMBASSY IN GHANA IS MOVING.

March 30, 2023 at 17:12
Greetings,
I wrote KCC and got this reply below. Im from Cameroon with case no xxx33. What does it mean?
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application”.
April 2, 2023 at 13:42
It means you are in an AV queue. The time you get a 2NL depends on how your embassy is doing.

Hello Brit.
1- Can a derivative (Wife) be scheduled for interview on a different (later) date than the principal applicant which will interview with two minors (sons). How can we proceed to do that?
2- Can a derivative do AOS while the principal applicant and sons .interview at their local embassy?
April 2, 2023 at 13:39
1. That is not the normal process for DV cases (consular processing). Trying to do that creates risks.
2. A principal can do AOS and then the derivatives can do “follow to join” at a consulate. However, the reverse process is not normally possible, you would be looking at family sponsored case once the principle applicant has moved to the USA.
March 27, 2023 at 05:22
How is the Accra embassy doing so far?
April 2, 2023 at 13:31
Bad. They are restricting the number of interviews they are taking each month – and that is building up an AV queue.

Hi brits am from Kenya AF31***,according to xanthius data,it says that my case is in the 57th percentile and that it looks pretty good.what does that mean?,And how is Nairobi embassy moving.
March 25, 2023 at 16:13
Nairobi is doing very badly creating a big risk for all that are assigned there.
March 22, 2023 at 16:56
Okay Brit but why only Russia has moved (4K) and whole EU stalled? And Africa +10k up north almost being current.
March 22, 2023 at 17:13
AF has a number of embassies heavily backlogged through inaction on the part of the embassy. This means that more cases under the AF number are in AV status, but cannot be scheduled. This essentially blocks several thousand cases. So their number moved up to get more cases that could be scheduled, particularly in other embassies.
EU on the other hand has less of that problem, and there are plenty of unscheduled but processed cases under 30K. So – they obviously felt no need to increase the number for EU.
March 22, 2023 at 12:39
Why’s Asia not moving?
March 22, 2023 at 13:37
It means there are enough cases under the number to keep the embassies busy
March 23, 2023 at 22:12
Brit I just got processed in February
Yesterday 23/Feb moved to stage 4 and become current my case is 43kAf posted in Abudhabi. Do I still possess a chance for 2nl
March 25, 2023 at 16:12
I cannot predict your chance.
March 22, 2023 at 12:31
Hi Brit, do you know why the case number cut off in Asia in April and even in May visa bulletin has been still the same? Thanks
March 22, 2023 at 13:36
It means there are enough cases under the number to keep the embassies busy
March 23, 2023 at 00:10
Hi Brit, my case AF22K got processed on the 15th of February and current as from yesterday the 22 of March so when can i get the 2nl from nvc?
March 23, 2023 at 10:58
I don’t predict. But the timing depends on the status of your embassy and whether they are restricting interviews or not.
March 22, 2023 at 11:44
Dear Sir, What do you think does applicant with case NO of 35*** have chances to get the interview scheduled for Summer?
March 22, 2023 at 13:36
I have no idea.
March 22, 2023 at 11:35
Why Europe did not moved a bit? Some hope for June VB?
March 22, 2023 at 13:36
No predictions, but I have been explaining how many cases were processed and current but not scheduled.
March 22, 2023 at 11:31
Hi Brit,
VB for Europe has not changed, it was the same for April too. What does it means?
March 22, 2023 at 13:34
That there are enough cases under the number to keep the embassies busy.
March 22, 2023 at 11:19
Is DS260 september submission has been processed?
March 22, 2023 at 13:31
As far as I know, yes.
