The visa bulletin has been published which determines which cases can be interviewed in January. Looks like some pretty good increases in the numbers which will be a relief for some that have been concerned about the small movements in the last couple of months.
As I have said before I don’t think people should get too worked up about the first few months visa bulletins, things can change quite quickly. Also just to remind people, we will know more about the case numbers in January when we can get the CEAC data.
Best of luck to those that just became current!
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a handful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So, for example – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from a few countries, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

If the appeal is won you should still be protected under the CSPA. This is something you should discuss with your lawyer.

Hello Mr. Simon
I am the winner of AS 2024 from Afghanistan and I have been invited to an interview with my family in Islamabad in January 2024.
my wife is the main applicant and I and my children are its derivatives
Question:
1- Will the consular officer interview the main applicant at the embassy or will the husband and children be interviewed as well?
2- I had previously served as a military in Afghanistan for 8 years under the support of the international community in the republican regime, and with the arrival of the Taliban regime and the collapse of the republican on August 15, 2021, I left my duty out of fear of the ruling system (Taliban terrorist regime) and now I am not able to prepare military documents and certificates (exception of the duty identity card).
Although my wife is the main applicant of the DV Lottery and is eligible to obtain a visa, and I personally do not work with the Taliban regime after the collapse of the republican system, some people says that you may be because of your work experience and not presenting your military certificate, Go to the AP process, which made me very worried
What is your analysis in the field?
Thankful

1. The whole family will be present, the questions will only be for the adults.
2. I cannot predict exactly how they will handle your situation. Take as much proof as you can, and they are of course aware of the difficulties in getting some documents.
December 4, 2023 at 23:03
Mr. Simon
When I was preparing the necessary documents for the interview, I checked the checklist related to Afghanistan on the website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Afghanistan.html), where it considered the documents unreliable and gave the following details :
1-Police Records: Partially available for very limited periods. Not required for the U.S. visa process due to their unreliability.
2-Military Records: Unavailable
In your opinion, what does the above mean? Doesn’t it mean that the two types of documents mentioned are unreliable, so there is no need to present them to the consular officer during the interview?
December 4, 2023 at 23:41
Correct.
December 5, 2023 at 00:26
Thank you Mr. Simon
We hope that in your future videos, you will give exceptional information about the preparation of documents and Exceptions ( The interview document checklist ) by Afghans for interviews process.
December 5, 2023 at 09:00
That won’t happen – there are 200 countries and many different variations of what documents are possible per candidate. I encourage you to read the instructions.

Hi Brit! Do you have any news about if they are gonna do a second draw for DV2024? Thanks!
November 16, 2023 at 21:35
I am 100% certain there is no second draw for DV2024 because they already selected FAR to many people, and adding even more people would be stupid.

Hello sir, a friend of mine did his interview today and was place on AP and this is the reason they gave him ( Well, they told me that I had not included my wife during entry yet we were married before the dv entry. But it’s wrong because i included her and her information was in 1nl when it came. What made me biased is that her file they were checking for information even had the passport photo we used during entry but the guys insisted that her information is missing. I gave them every proof but they insisted and they want to check with kcc and i have to do same. What happened because is like kcc made a mistake ?
November 16, 2023 at 21:33
I don’t know why they made a mistake, but just relax and wait.

The website says “nonce verification failed” if I attempt to submit a question on the “ask questions here” post.

Dear Simon
When should I move to Jordan and change my address if I want to change my interview location?
My case number is 2024AS20XXX at Jerusalem embassy, I live in the West Bank. I remember one time you said there is a point where someone cannot change their interview location anymore, that is when their case becomes current and fully processed and ready to be scheduled as I remember. If the security situation remains the same in Israel, at what point should I start working on changing my interview location??
Also I want to let you know this website keeps saying “nonce verification failed” when I attempted to make a comment.

I suggest you read this update.

Thank you for your response.
it says that I must contact KCC and ask for an embassy reassignment as I have not been scheduled for an interview yet.
However my case number won’t be current for months and I have time to wait and see what happens.
My question was more particularly about when I should ask KCC to reassign my case. You once said that there is a point after a case number becomes current when it’s no longer possible to change the embassy location.
I’m going to wait but If the security situation in Israel remains the same should I contact KCC for embassy reassignment when my case number becomes current or right before it becomes current ?? is there a risk if my case number becomes current and I still haven’t had an embassy reassignment ?
November 19, 2023 at 08:24
With the announcement, it doesn’t matter when you ask in this particular case.
November 19, 2023 at 11:13
Thank you for the Clarification.
I’m going to wait and see what happens. it’s better for me to have my interview in Jerusalem rather than Jordan but if the situation remains the same then I will get all my documents and travel to Jordan. there is one document that I will not be able to obtain in that case, which is a police certificate from the Israel military coordination center(DCO district coordination office). I have police certificates from the Palestinian authority showing no previous criminal or security violations but if the security situation remains like this then I won’t be able to go to an Israeli military office and apply for police certificates.

1. I don’t know the Albanian system to know whether his education meets the requirements or not.
2. If he meets the education requirement then work experience would not be checked, but if the education is not up to the requirement he might be able to qualify through work. He should read the below article.

Hi Simon I’m asking because I’ve never heard you speak about the Dakar embassy, my case number is AF67 scheduled at Dakar. I’m just wondering from previous years how they usually do. I’m a Gambian btw
