The new Visa Bulletin was just released earlier today, giving the numbers which will be current for July interviews. If your DS260 has been processed, and you are now current, then you should be getting your interview notification soon, but it depends on your embassy. It is important to understand this VB ONLY affects DV2023, and not DV2024 cases.
AF stayed the same, but I’m glad to see a little movement in the other regions.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, can normally expect their 2NL in the next 2 to 3 weeks from now. This is supposed to be the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs in daily batches, but we seem to be moving to a more normal procedure where almost all the 2NLs are sent before the end of the month, with just a hadful being sent earlier this month. I would normally expect all the interview 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month, but we can see recently they are exceeding that to try and get as many interviews in as possible. They can be sent right up until the last day of the month, and even the first few days of the following month during exceptional times.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So, for example – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from a few countries, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Helo Brit, thanks so much for your guidance. Please I have a question.
I’m with the case number 2023AF24,*** in Ghana(Accra), I submitted my Ds260 in October, 2022.
Am I likely to be scheduled for interview or I should lower my expectation
July 17, 2023 at 19:29
Sadly you should lower your expectation.
Some people received interview notifications last Friday and today. We are nearing the end of chances for scheduling. Your chance up to now has been based on how the embassy is operating, it is also now about the short supply of visas.

Dear Simon , Fist of all thanks very much for the great service, highly appreciate it. I am a DV winner for 2023. I submitted my DS260 late it was last December and my case number was 2023AS18xxx. it was processed by February 2023 and similarly in VB ,Asia moved up to 13500(VB Asia did not move until July since then). My case got current and ready for interviews in mid April 2023. Since VB didn’t move for 4 months, will I be scheduled according to the case number or will get pushed back due to late submission. Asia moved up to 21000 for July. Keen to hear from you, Best regards.

Hello sir
Im from Algeria dv 23 my cn 38k
I got an appointment for an interview on the 25th July in us embassy of Algiers, and I have a problem that is scare me. In 2018, I got to know a Pakistani girl on Facebook and I fell in love with her. She sent me an invitation to visit her country. I got a visa to Pakistan. It says visa for the purpose of a family visit, but my relationship with the girl ended and I did not leave my country at all. Will I be asked on the day The interview for this visa؟
Will they give me refuse or administrative process?
Thank you so much
May 25, 2023 at 09:17
Unlikely to cause any problem. You may have a visa, but no entry stamp.
May 22, 2023 at 05:19
Hi Brit, thank you so much for your contribution to the world. Please you may have recent information about performance of US embassy at Addis Ababa? My case # is 2023AF81XX, DS 260 submitted early July, 2023 and current for December, 2022. No 2NL so far.
May 22, 2023 at 18:15
They are doing badly. You can see that for yourself at https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY23.html
May 21, 2023 at 15:39
Good day Britain, I have a worried, I had my interview in the month of april, and the consular office put me on administrative process. But later on following the ceac data i so refused . Then again later on wrote to me to book another interview. Why the second interview when they have refused me visa which my documents is not even wrong. How can I passed my advance level and they are telling me is not good one. Just because I wrote in a different country. Old can u help me explain this
May 21, 2023 at 22:36
I don’t know the particulars of the case. Just follow the instructions from the embassy.
May 21, 2023 at 09:22
Hi Simon, my case is AS20*** Bangkok, Thailand and is now being current for July interview. Can I expect my interview date soon?
May 21, 2023 at 09:24
Maybe. I have mislaid my crystal ball.
May 21, 2023 at 01:54
hello sir
am dv2023 winner
my grades were low in my high school certificate but ive been able to secure my self with a health care assistant certificate with a working experience of 4 years now in a government hospital
based on this do i have a chance on my interview day
May 21, 2023 at 08:54
Work as a healthcare assistant probably does not meet the required level. It would be jobzone 2 or 3 and that is too low for approval for DV. I attached a close O*Net job description below.
If your education cannot meet the requirement then you are unlikely to be approved.

Hello Simon,
It’s me James that asked about the NVC public inquiry form. I forgot to ask this in my previous post.
Is it the embassy that initiates the process of asking for the 2NLs, and how many it can take or NVC decides that, now you can take these number of Visas.
Thanks.
May 21, 2023 at 08:50
The embassy sets the number of interviews it can accept. KCC then picks the cases based on the AV queue priority (which I have explained in a video below) and sends the 2NLs. The embassy has no input into which cases to send and no knowledge of the cases until they are sent.

Aweome. Thank you Simon.
May 21, 2023 at 01:45
Hello Simon,
I was tying to contact NVC using the given public inquiry form herehttps://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html?wcmmode=disabled
The first field asked is “NVC Case Number or USCIS Receipt Number:(required)”:
and they give a example of “This will be three letters, followed by ten numbers, For example: ABC2014123456”
Which would be the long format of one’s NVC case number, right? (That’s if one doesn’t have the Receipt number yet)
However, when I tried using either the long format of the case number 2023AF60xxx, or the short format, 2023AF60xxx, it showed an error of “Invalid case number” yet the case number shows that it is at NVC. Is this an issue with the form? When I tried to paste in the long form of the case number, it cut off the last digit indicating that it was too long.
One more, I realised Kigali ,Rwanda embassy was doing well at the beginning, then, it stalled a bit and didn’t get any 2NLs in April, and hasn’t got any in May yet. Do you think it bit off more than it could chew at the beginning by asking for alot of case numbers or it realized it can handle the remaining visas allocated to it in the remaining months?
As always, thanks.
May 21, 2023 at 08:47
The whole thing about contacting NVC is a waste of time – DV cases are not processed by NVC, so their system does not accommodate such requests.
About Kigali – I don’t know.
May 20, 2023 at 03:00
Hi brits,do u see any changes or improvement in Nairobi,am case no.AF31***
May 20, 2023 at 15:31
No – they just accepted 42 cases in May 2NLs. That is nowhere near enough cases.
May 19, 2023 at 20:45
Hi Dear Sir BritSimon,
I am winner 2024 with Case number 2024AS00005557
I have submitted DS260 but I have forgotten to mention my High School Degree in the DS260 form.
My question is :
Should I unlock DS260 for this issue or no????
May 19, 2023 at 23:00
It is not quite serious enough to demand unlocking.
May 19, 2023 at 14:45
Dear Simon, I would like your advice on a strange response I received from KCC. My step-daughter, a Belarusian citizen was living in Kyiv at the time the war began. Like many Ukrainians, she fled Ukraine and ended up in Georgia for the past year.
When she filed her DS-260, she listed her address as Batumi, Georgia. As we wait for her case number (2023EU32XXX) to become current, we contacted KCC to notify them that she had just recently moved from Georgia to Krakow, Poland. While in Georgia, she was able to obtain a 1 year Polish Visa and moved there due to safety concerns. We expected that KCC would reopen her DS-260 to allow us to change her address to Poland – with the expectation she would be interviewed in Poland, but they responded with this:
“Your interview location is Tbilisi and will be used by KCC for scheduling purposes. When we have scheduled your interview, you will be required to log into the Entrant Status Check (ESC) to view your appointment notification. At that time, please verify that your appointment is scheduled for the correct post. If for any reason it is not, you may contact KCC again at [email protected]. ”
Are they refusing to let her change her interview to the place where she now lives?
Their response also makes no sense to me… AFTER they have scheduled her interview in Tbilisi, why would we contact KCC again? Isn’t the procedure that AFTER the case is scheduled, the only way to change locations it is by directly communicating with the two (from/to) embassies? Why would they be telling us to write back to KCC to correct this issue… and why not just let us change the location now? Can you offer any insight into their (to me) confusing response?
May 19, 2023 at 14:55
Her number is ABOVE 32000 – correct? If so they should still allow a correction to the DS260. However, you probably asked for a change of embassy, and that is something they try and control. What you should have done is simply asked them to unlock your DS260 in order to change the address. Once that was done, you would then email them, making it clear that you prefer Warsaw.
Try that approach, but do not reply to their previous response.
May 19, 2023 at 15:57
Yes, she is 321XX – just barely missed the last cutoff.
We’ll ask them to unlock her DS-260 for the address change as you’ve advised… Is an address change the type of thing that could delay scheduling her interview (assuming that her number ever becomes current)?
May 19, 2023 at 16:08
Not if you do it now.
May 19, 2023 at 10:24
Hi Simon, I saw a question someone ask if he can choose embassy on it own but your response says that your current address determine your embassy, now if I may ask I once ask you if I should do my interview here in Nigeria since we live in Nigeria or in Cameroon since that is our eligibility county and you said Cameroon. Won’t my current address affect me and they will transfer me back to Nigeria and Nigeria have not attended to any case since 2023. It won’t be flavor able for me right?
May 19, 2023 at 14:41
You asked about how to list your country of birth, and I replied Nigeria, but yes, if they continue working as they have done so far (i.e. not at all), then getting an interview in Nigeria would not be good.
May 18, 2023 at 20:41
Hi brit my case number is 2023AF42000 I didn’t received my 2ndL I don’t know why. Do you have any idea?
May 19, 2023 at 09:02
You are probably assigned to an embassy that has a backlog of interviews. Which embassy are you assigned to?
May 19, 2023 at 10:35
Cameroon
May 19, 2023 at 14:46
Yep – they have a backlog. They started the year quite well, but only accepted 1 case for interview in last months 2NLs. Hopefully they will return to normal.
May 17, 2023 at 23:24
Hi brits what does it mean when my dv2023 application is showing NVC on the xanthius report
May 18, 2023 at 11:22
Every case shows that before the interview notice is sent.
May 16, 2023 at 11:15
Hello Simon. Thanks a lot for your valuable information and guidance. I have a question: my friend is a dv 2023 winner, she had a small case number and she was processed early in October. She entered the united states in January 2023. She’s been there for six months now. I want to know if she qualifies to be my host, knowing that I will have my interview this July. Thank you
May 16, 2023 at 12:38
A host is just someone who will provide a place to stay and some help. It is not a formal relationship, so it can be anyone. It is not the financial support as described in the I-134.
May 16, 2023 at 06:19
Dear Simon
I am a 2023 lottery winner with AS13900 Case number. I am from Iran and chose Ankara embassy. (we could choose Ankara, Yerevan and Abo Zaabi because there is no US embassy in Iran). But the Ankara embassy dose not invite even 1000 case numbers until now. Do you suggest me to change my embassy location to another country before my case number being “Current” or not?
May 16, 2023 at 11:04
You know the problem and the timing – so make your own choice.
May 18, 2023 at 00:48
Hi Simon
For Arezoo Maleki’s case above, with regards to the fact that Iranians would be going under AP. Is it fair to say that their chances of getting the visa with regards to their CN + Iranian status + currently its May already essentially puts them at a very low rate (< 10%)
May 18, 2023 at 14:13
Hmmm, sort of, yes. Iranians (especially males) tend to get long periods of AP after the interview. I generally see May as the last “safe” month for Iranian interviews. Interviews in June onwards (for Iranians) sees an increasing risk that the AP will not be completed in time.
May 15, 2023 at 14:54
Hello Simon, I am Winning with case no AS202432xxx .
my passport is expired and it will take about a month or more to get another Passport in Afghanistan. Should I fill out Ds260 and submit with my current passport information and then update the DS 260 when i get new passport or I should wait when I get my new passport to submit DS260.
Thank you,
Mahfooz
Afghanistan
May 15, 2023 at 16:47
Complete now with the current passport.
May 14, 2023 at 17:37
Hi Brit, from the VB published above, we see that the north America(Bahamas) has no specific number. Instead, I see ‘CURRENT’. Please what does that mean since there’s no actual number.
Thankyou.
May 14, 2023 at 21:16
Hi Ayaabah, if it says that it is current then it means that all case numbers for that region are eligible to go for interview. At this point it is up to the embassies to process them.
(Mr BritSimon can verify what I am saying)
May 15, 2023 at 08:10
It means any number can be interviewed.
May 16, 2023 at 01:05
Just confirming Current, then they will not prioritise low case numbers before high case numbers? Will they start interviewing any numbers that have ds260 ready processed irrespective of case numbers? Thanks
May 16, 2023 at 08:05
NA region only has 16 cases total. I doubt NA0007 is going to be worried about NA00012 being interviewed before them. Generally, regions only go current if there are enough visas to cover all remaining cases that want an interview, so even if a higher number goes first, everyone can have their chance at an interview. However in the previous years because of the covid chaos this wasn’t always the case, and some high case numbers (like my own) got a chance at an interview while lower case numbers missed out. This year, high AF case numbers interviewing outside of Accra get a better chance because many lower AF numbers are stuck in AV que at Accra and will likely never be interviewed.
May 16, 2023 at 10:55
Low case numbers have an advantage in the process in the way they are added to the queue, but that still means some high case numbers can get interviewed, depending on the embassy.
May 21, 2023 at 00:56
Hi Simon! Thanks for all your advice. I am a winner of 2024 DV lottery and i got the case number 2024AF00023××× , when about can i get my interview to the ambassy?
May 21, 2023 at 08:45
I don’t really like doing predictions, but obviously your number is in the low end so I would expect fairly early in the fiscal year, assuming no country restriction. Really – you can use your own common sense.
May 19, 2023 at 23:11
Hi Brits I thank you for good service again my time is running out now any interview July remember me
May 12, 2023 at 08:40
Apologies, meant it seemed pretty good earlier, now looking more doubtful.
May 12, 2023 at 08:32
Hi Simon, Oceania moving slowly.18xx case seemed too earlier, now looking more doubtful, any thoughts?
May 13, 2023 at 04:30
Same thoughts as me . My OC202x
May 12, 2023 at 02:43
1 year of long waiting since 1NL on May 2022… now the the time has come- EU 30xxx let’s go
May 12, 2023 at 18:09
Do you think case numbers for eu30xxx safe to get an appointment? My number is also 30xxx and i was afraid the quota might be full before an interview
May 12, 2023 at 20:41
A lot depends on the embassy.
May 29, 2023 at 00:27
I’ve got my 2NL next day after VB went 32K for Europe. Embassy in Switzerland so I am golden. Good luck
May 13, 2023 at 09:42
Hello simon, thank you for all the advices. I have a question for you…My case number is 2023AF59*** we are now current in Morocco. How much time approximatively before we get our 2NL and should we start preparing the documents such as the doctor appointement ? Thanks in advance.
May 13, 2023 at 12:01
I don’t know when you will get a 2NL. You book the medical when you get the 2NL
