Region | All DV Chargeability Areas Except Those Listed Separately | |
---|---|---|
AFRICA | 15,300 | Except: Egypt 12,600 |
ASIA | 5,000 | Except: Iran 4,600 Nepal 3,400 |
EUROPE | 13,500 | |
NORTH AMERICA (BAHAMAS) | 12 | |
OCEANIA | 550 | |
SOUTH AMERICA, and the CARIBBEAN | 750 |
This is for March 2019 interviews.
Again the numbers are low, at least for AF region, which is most likely because of the number of people that were current for January/February, but were not scheduled. That backlog is likely more a factor in AF than other regions because AF as a region is slower to react to changed processes. The new document procedure has probably had some impact because as KCC warned, they did not schedule cases where people had not provided the documents by the new procedure. That meant there were significant numbers of people that could not be scheduled in January/February, and those people will have needed a large proportion of the available visa interview slots for March. The other regions have behaved largely as expected.
The other factor that might have had some impact is the government shutdown. It does NOT directly impact DV cases, because the work for visas is funded by the visa fee. However, the shutdown could impact related functions such as people that work on background checks, staff the embassies (like security personnel and so on). So – as the shutdown remains unresolved, there might be some impacts – we can only wait and see.
As I have explained before however, I do expect pace of the VB to increase toward the later months. Why? Firstly because it always works that way in the regions where there are country limits. Density reduces in later number ranges, so more case numbers need to be made current to get the same number of cases to interview. Secondly the new document procedure will mean that some people will not be able to be scheduled to be interviewed, so again, KCC would then have to increase VB pace to fill the interview spaces.
Those that are current, and have forms processed early enough, they can expect their 2NL in about 1 to 2 weeks from now. This is the same every month. VB from the 8th to the 15th of each month, and 2NLs in the second half of the month. For the last few months there have been 2NLs sent in two main batches, some early (around the 15th to 20th) and then some in the later part of the month. But given the low numbers that may not be necessary. I would expect the 2NLs to have all been sent by the end of this month.
To those new to looking at VBs, let me explain what the “except” XXX country means – and you can also read this post on how to read the visa bulletin.
Processing is spread out over the full year. You can see the progress of the two previous years in this post about basic questions. However, some countries have a high number of selectees and those selectees are concentrated in the lower case numbers. For various reasons, mainly to do with embassy capacity, KCC slow down certain countries as compared to the region. So – in Africa, any case with a case number shown as under the new number can be interviewed but for cases from Egypt, that number is lower. That isn’t a big problem, it just “slows down” those countries a little more than the rest of the region. Since selectees from those countries all have lower case numbers, this slowing down does not present any risk. It does not (at this point) mean they won’t allow all selectees an interview from those countries.
To understand why some countries get lower case numbers, read this article about the lottery draw process.

Hello Mr Brit
Thanks very much
I have gone through it and it will involve family based immigration. We are ok with that.
So i do not need to submit passport data page for the child now, if i understood right?
Thanks
February 16, 2019 at 15:08
Correct.
February 16, 2019 at 05:40
Thanks Mr Brit
Please the response is not clear to me. I mean the dv process.
February 16, 2019 at 06:17
If you process your child via the DV win, the child must activate the Green Card within 6 months. Read the FAQ to understand better.
February 16, 2019 at 03:54
Hello dear Brit
I really appreciate your support.
I have a child who will follow me two years after I leave for US.
My questions are:
1.) Do I need to submit passport data page for that child when submitting scanned documents?
2.)Do children below 12years have to attend the interview session?
Thanks very much
Have a blessed week end.
February 16, 2019 at 04:35
1. Not if you do not process through DV.
2. See 1.
March 11, 2019 at 20:32

February 14, 2019 at 05:46
Hi Britsimon, I wanted to know if i can reapply the DS-260 form since I have recently given birth to my first child. I was pregnant during the time I was filling the form and there was no option for ‘being pregnant’, hence I couldn’t fill the form mentioning children. will it be okay if i apply again? And I have received the mail from KCC with regards to my documents. Is it too late now?
February 14, 2019 at 06:03
You unlock and correct your DS260. Read the FAQ about how to include the newborn.
February 12, 2019 at 18:24
Hi BritSimon,
I Hope that all well with you.
I had my DV interview on 4th Feb and all went well until i was asked if i have another child other than the one appeared for interview, and i responded yes, (i have US citizen child and it is not mandatory to include him) then the consular asked us other questions and he was satisfied with our responses, but at the end he told us he is not able to issue our visas unless i get approval for i601 waver. And he advised me to apply for the same and if it is approved he will issue our visas.
Considering my US Citizen child is out side of US and living with us , do we have any chance for our application to be approved?
I was not aware of any case against me while in US, no over stay or any conviction, is this common to have cases like this without any notice? Please give me some information.
Thanks
Kena
February 12, 2019 at 18:53
Why do you need the waiver? What is the inadmissibility?
February 13, 2019 at 16:48
As per the consular, in relation to my last trip to US in 2014 i am inadmissible to the US. No further detail provided by him.
Thanks
February 13, 2019 at 16:59
So you overstayed?
February 13, 2019 at 17:28
Thinking about it – was the 2014 trip when the child was born. If so, they may be concerned that you misrepresented the purpose of your visit upon entry into the USA if you went there for “birth tourism”. They may also be concerned to prove that you paid all the expenses of the birth. Either way – you know more about your case than I do – so I cannot predict your chances of getting a waiver.
February 12, 2019 at 11:48

February 10, 2019 at 11:12
Hi Brit
Hope you good
I went for my interview on 7th in Accra, Ghana
I submitted all my documents
The consular look at my result and told me she can’t give me a visa because the education requirement does not meet the requirement of the US
Meanwhile, my result is the West African secondary school certificate
I only had D7 is Mathematics, the rest were all good.
Question: could it be that they are given out the visa based on merit?
February 10, 2019 at 15:36
There is a requirement for education level. They determined you didn’t meet that requirement, based on your results.
February 11, 2019 at 15:45
Thanks
But I happened to use that result apply for a Diploma program in my Country and i have completed.
can i forward my transcript to their website for reconsideration?
February 11, 2019 at 16:49
Generally there is no appeal process. You have your chance, it is best to prepare for that interview. But you can email them if you want.
February 8, 2019 at 15:51
Do you have any info about April 2NL status.
February 8, 2019 at 16:10
2NLs for April will be sent during the latter part of February.
February 5, 2019 at 22:29
Hi Brit,
Not sure if my question posted. I was wondering if I should expect an email to let me know my documents have been processed? I received the automated reply but nothing else. I appreciate your help!
Thanks!
February 5, 2019 at 17:48
Hi Britsimon. Please I need a response from you. The question is this: Police Certification in the State of Albania when asked for the American Embassy is sent by the Ministry of Justice to the US Embassy in Albania. The problem is how I will send it along with other documents that are required to be sent to KCC? I have not received any emails after submitting the ds260 in June 2018 .. I have to send myself without email or contact me first. My casenumber is EU19xxx. Albania. Thank you very much for the help you give us.
February 5, 2019 at 18:13
I suggest you include an explanation in your document submission, along with the receipt for the police cert from the post office.
You can wait for the email or send it yourself.

Thank a lot if you approve this .

February 3, 2019 at 16:08
I removed the link. I appreciate you asked first, but the page fails my standard in several ways.
1. It does not have very much useful content.
2. In the original content it has there are inaccuracies.
3. Content is copied from my site and Xarthisius’ site without attribution.
I think people are better off coming to this site and using the translation of the page if needed.
February 8, 2019 at 15:59
initial idea was all information that you publish on your site to put there only to translate them and to create Disccusion , to track Case No, to share best amd wrost case scenarion , interview ect.
also some Kosovars is geting interview In Sko0je and some in Kosovo .
another idea was there is some agencies and taking money only to give info or to help them to fill up ds 260 and so on amd so forth .
however you are doing exelent job .
