If your ds 260 is editable it means it has not been submitted. all submitted ds260 can’t be edited unless you call for unlock
November 13, 2017 at 11:00
Hi Simon. I checked the Ds260 online and the status shows completed and so i opened the completed application and saw that it can’t be editted so this means my application has been submitted correctly.
Thanks Simon. Appreciate your prompt reply.

Hi,
My Name is Nikhil Babu, (DOB – 14th July 1990). My father is the applicant, F4, India. PD is 31st Oct 2003, Approval Date is 9th March 2010. November 13, 2017 at 20:57
Dear Mr Brit,
I just made a silly mistake when entering on dv lottery I wrote in middle name tab my last name and vice versa so do I have to apply again or not
November 13, 2017 at 20:58
NO!. If selected you can correct later.
November 13, 2017 at 21:02
Thank you dear
November 15, 2017 at 16:55
Hello thanks for your time
If for SA, January the numbers are on the 500 and supposing that from the 5000 preselected let’s say only 1800 will be selected I don’t see when 1300 cases will have the chance with this ritm
What’s your opinion ??
November 15, 2017 at 23:03
I don’t understand your question. Read this – britsimonsays.com/DV2018-basic-questions/
November 18, 2017 at 22:34
Sorry, what I meant was that they are on the 500 CN for January, seams very slow for almost 5000 selectees, so at this ritm how many you think for SOuth America will be able to make it
November 18, 2017 at 23:22
OK – explanations here:

Hi BritSimon,
Please, do you know somebody who attended interview in Bratislava (Slovakia) ? Or interview story? It would be very helpful. Its strange but I cant find people from my country on your blog… and in fact your blog is the best site for DV applicants. Thank you.
November 13, 2017 at 15:08
No one from Bratislava . But if you read the other interview stories, you will see they are all very similar.
November 13, 2017 at 19:43
Very few winners from Slovakia…82 I believe in total hence unlikely you will find someone who had interview in Bratislava and is also reading English blogs….I am Slovakian also and one of them 82 winners ,but interview in London due in few weeks
November 14, 2017 at 21:02
Hey Tonko Cook, I am a fellow Slovakian living in Uk. Just out of curiosity once you pass your interview can you let us know how did it go? I am particularly interested in all the documentation you had to provide from back home.
Bika
November 15, 2017 at 19:51

November 13, 2017 at 15:05
No problem.
November 13, 2017 at 14:04
Hi brit, hope you are doing,
My case number is 2018AS000123xx
I havent filled up DS260 till now
My Question is when i should fill up?
Will i get visa?
Thank you
November 13, 2017 at 15:03
Your case number is very high, so there is a risk that you won’t be interviewed at all. If you do get an interview it won’t be until the end of the DV year – which means August/September 2018. You have to decide whether to fill in the DS260 or not. If I were you, I would delay that until around May, to see how much the case numbers have risen by then.
November 13, 2017 at 15:02
Hello simon,
After moving to the USA on DV, how long does it take to be eligible to apply for the citizenship?
Thank you
November 13, 2017 at 15:33
5 years
November 13, 2017 at 18:13
Hello Brit.
If someone is not (by law) married, but has chlidren, then
1. should he include his children in the DV lottery entry?
2. If he is selected, can he take his children to the USA as derrivatives?
Thanks.
November 13, 2017 at 20:47
1. Yes
2. Depending on custody arrangements, yes.
November 13, 2017 at 18:22
Hello Brit. I’ve still not heard from the embassy concerning my passport neither have they replied to my mail. My question is can I go and inquire from the embassy direct?
November 13, 2017 at 18:53
Getty google dhl Ghana contact number and call them to find out if they have received your package from the embassy.
November 13, 2017 at 20:09
I’ve tracked it online and also talked to them on phone but still to no avail. I will go there on Wednesday
November 13, 2017 at 18:55
Getty , u now see dat one have to help each other?
We wanted you number just to know the situation at Accra embassy but u were behaving as if you step USA before..
You now see haw you are suffering,,,
Ders a dv group i can add you to they can hlp you to get it fast, they have being reading ur messages but they are refusing to help…. Brit doesnt know the situation in Gh now…we know better…0545882501 wasap me now..
Dont every do that again…im a good christain that why im tryin to help you…
November 13, 2017 at 19:59
Don’t make me a bad person please. Didn’t I share my interview experience with you guys? Is that why Papa Yaw hasn’t replied to my mail? How do you expect me to just give you my number when I don’t know you? Whatever you wanted to ask me you could’ve asked here. Choose to laugh but I’m getting it this week if it will involve going there again.
November 13, 2017 at 20:54
You have done more than enough Getty. I am sorry you received this message. It’s not deserved.
November 13, 2017 at 21:01
Im not making you a bad person please..we asked ur number for some little privite question…and if you need help we can also help you…but you were behavin like a gh Lady..wher we ask a ladies number and then she will tink of your proposing…
We never tot of that and we are not bad people ..
The guy who just directed you id from the group…we both made our mind to help you…
November 13, 2017 at 20:42
I don’t like the tone of this message at all! Getty has been open and helpful. Ghanaians “helping” Ghanaians is exactly why the refusal rate in Accra is so high right now, and Ghanaians that are careful not to share too much personal information are the smart ones.
So if you have useful information to share, share it here, rather than this silly attitude you are displaying here. If any of your information is useful, I will create a page/thread where these things can be discussed in open and it will survive beyond the interests of just the group you refer to.
November 13, 2017 at 20:44
Yes I would suggest you do that. It may be that you have been placed on AP for some reason.
November 13, 2017 at 21:48
OK Brit. Thanks
November 13, 2017 at 22:08
Getty I made a mistake whiles typing. The email is [email protected] but I mistakenly typed [email protected].
Also I’m not part of the WhatsApp group the guy was talking about.
November 14, 2017 at 05:31
I wasnt talking about you…it was Ashity i was tlkin about…
November 13, 2017 at 20:51
Getty, you will have to wait three or four weeks after your way interview before your package arrive, just be patient
November 13, 2017 at 20:55
3 to 4 weeks is not normal.
November 13, 2017 at 21:04
Yeah, Brit, but two friends of mine had to wait for three weeks before it arived at the DHL

With the new bulletin…. Just 500 in january in south América….. do you think i will call for interview? I am DS000023XX, please say me something positive
November 13, 2017 at 20:37
“something positive”???
I am positive you will have to wait several more months to know anything – it will probably be July 2018 before you know your chance.
November 13, 2017 at 20:59
Hi Simon!
I’d ask you about cut off number! My case no. is AS5000 for 2018, is cut off means that i missed my chance this year to get interviewed?or it is just means that I’ll not get interview in this month only?
Thanks
November 13, 2017 at 21:01
It means you have to wait. That’s all.
November 13, 2017 at 21:06
Hi birt,
Can you please tell me which month 2018 DV interview started?
November 13, 2017 at 21:09
October. Just like every year.
November 13, 2017 at 21:18
Hi Brit,
Visa bulletin is out for January. Africa highest number is 13000. What do you think about my CN AF35xxx? do you think i will call for interview in next months?
November 13, 2017 at 21:32
Patience
November 13, 2017 at 21:29
Hello Brit, the released numbers in visa bulletin for January are not optimistic. Only 8200 for Europe. In the past, in January the numbers were around 12.000. It looks like the threat from Trump unofficially is active. I am EUxxx26xxx, there is no chance to get interview if every month 2500-3000 will be interwieved. Please comment. Thanks!

I just received the affidavit from my sponsor, but he made a mistake on my birthday year (1 year). Do you think this will create a problem?

November 13, 2017 at 23:35
Hi Simon!
I’m a DV2017 lottery winner and I’m about to travel to the USA to activate my visa. What are some typical questions I might be asked at POE? I tried to search if there was a blog post about it but couldn’t find any…
Any tips will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Luisa
November 13, 2017 at 23:53
Almost no questions. No need to prepare. Relax.
November 14, 2017 at 03:46
Hi brit…am now in the U.S with my wife on the DV program and am the principle applicant, but my question is ,my wife And i want to apply for our GC under different addresses.can you please tell me if it is possible to do.
November 14, 2017 at 06:11
That may create questions about your marriage, but it is technically possible.
November 14, 2017 at 06:22
Hi Simon, as you suggested I am trying to compare the new VB numbers of EU region with the last 2 years and I do not see any similarity at all. Do you think this year there might be some delay for the month the numbers will be current? My case number is EU181XX for your reference and the newly published number is only 8200.

November 14, 2017 at 09:19
Thanks Simon. Well explained. I was just confused since this year looked very different compared to last 2 years. And I think this could be because of Trump administration wanting maybe unofficially to slow down the progress. Thanks again
November 15, 2017 at 17:16
Nothing to do with Trump.
November 14, 2017 at 07:47
the US press agents are spreading a news of reinstating the ban once again on the six predominantly Muslim countries. Do you think that would affect the DV selectees from those countries ?

November 16, 2017 at 06:32
1) My nephew is American (approx. 20 years old) and he is living out of the states for the time being. Can we use it as a waiver? is there some forms that we have to fill?
2) I contacted a lawyer a couple of days back and he informed me that there will be some new regulations on those affected people on 25 Nov. Although I tried to search for that in the internet but I did not find anything related to his claim. Have you heard anything similar to that?
November 16, 2017 at 06:35
1. POssibly.
2. I don’t know about that.
November 19, 2017 at 09:32
Hello Brit
Do you know the kind of form that I have to fill to mention the details of my American nephew?

November 14, 2017 at 10:34
Dear Simon, I carefully read your post here https://britsimonsays.com/vb-progress-explained-again where you very well explained which “safe numbers” should be by Region.
Now, as this was posted back few months ago, I am kindly asking your point of view if you still consider safe EU at 37XXX as long as in January we are only at 8200.
Thank you for your always appreaciated feedback,
Kind regards,
Fausto

Hello sir,
After filling the dv lottery application, I came to know that in the photo I entered there had my head to chin size little big which is because of the spiky hair in the photo. So, my question is “is there any chance of considerate or it’s gonna be disqualified ??
November 15, 2017 at 17:22
Wait and see.
November 14, 2017 at 12:06
Hi Mr simon, the DV 2019 entry informations of my br has a mistake on birth day date it’s 25 in stead of 26. If selected he will have his interview in South Africa, is it a big mistake that can have impact on his visa issuance?
November 15, 2017 at 17:23
It’s a LOTTERY. Wait and see if you are even selected.
November 14, 2017 at 12:23
Dear Brit Simon,
I confirmed my ds 260 at the end of June. how can I find out if my application has been processed successfully?
November 15, 2017 at 07:06
Dear Leka
Greetings!!
You have two options ..
first one is check on the ESC website with the confirmation number ,if your DS260 has been processed you will see 2NL.. The second way is they will send you an email concerning this about the interview and what to do the next..
You have to be patient it might take months..
hope the answer is helpful.

Hello Simon !
I am paying the USCIS Immigrant fee . I have a question about payer contact information . Is that mailing address where the green card wiill be sent ? If not what address should i place because i am not yet in US .
November 15, 2017 at 17:29
It is the address of the person that pays the credit card.
November 14, 2017 at 13:56
Hello,
I want to know if it is possible that the date of the interview does not come by email even though the case number was included for example in January ?? And is there a second selection before the interview? It does not matter if you have completed the ds260 form in a short time and there is nothing to penalize ??? Thanks !
November 15, 2017 at 17:30
Some people (especially if they submitted the DS260 late) will not be interviewed in their current month, but will be interviewed later.
November 14, 2017 at 13:58
Hi Brit.
What does it mean section 212(5)(A)
November 15, 2017 at 17:33
That is a final refusal – for failing to follow the rules of entry or failing to meet requirements such as education etc.
November 14, 2017 at 14:43
Hi Brit,
I was asked, to submit a legal proof that I were living in USA legally before was deported.(asailam was refused)
So when I was deported all my identity (ss card, alien registration card, n rest)was taken by them. The only thing I have with me is my bank card,BJS card, van insurance card, n a employe of the month certificate that was issued by employee.
My question is that are these(my bank card, van insurance card, n a employe of the month certificate that was issued by employee.)legal proof?
November 15, 2017 at 17:38
No. They are asking about visa status.
November 15, 2017 at 18:01
Thanks a lot

November 15, 2017 at 17:39
Make sure it is correct in the DS260 and you should be OK, unless they believe you were trying some sort of fraud.
November 14, 2017 at 15:52
Hello Brit I just received a reply from the embassy concerning my inquiry. Viz:
Thank you for your inquiry. The visa in question was issued on 27-OCT-2017. Please refer to the attached pick up instructions.

Hi Simon,
I was selected for the visa lottery, but I have a dilemma.
I am a Lebanese citizen currently residing in the UK. In April, I will be applying to renew my visa in the UK, and will need to submit my passport.
My interview with the US embassy may take place at the same time as when my passport is with the UK Home Office.
Is there anything that can be done?
November 15, 2017 at 17:55
I don’t know – you need to decide for yourself.
November 14, 2017 at 16:26
I tried to check status on CEAC but kept saying invalid case number. Are the instructions to check status for 2017 same as 2018? Just wondering if there is still hope for me case#2018AF00024xxx (Kenya) should I be worried?
November 15, 2017 at 17:56
CEAC cannot be checked yet, but anyway your case number is not current. Patience!!
November 14, 2017 at 16:48
Hi Brit Simon, am I correct in thinking I need to to tell uscis of my change of address as I have moved to a different place than where the green cards were sent. Thank you!
November 15, 2017 at 17:57
You should inform USCIS when you move as an LPR (google USCIS change of address). However, the GCs may still go to the address they had when you entered the USA.
November 14, 2017 at 17:36
Hi mr. Brit
I applied for DV 2019 BUT I heard that the photo should be very recent one, my questions are:
1- is this true?
2- if so what should I do to catch the opportunity.
November 15, 2017 at 06:29
Dear Mohammed
Greetings!!
Am Gonna help Mr brit.. because Am waiting for my visa ..finished every process..
1.yes it needs to be taken with in 6 months .It shows your readiness if its taken recently..as i been informed the system have lots of requirements to select ..even if we are saying its random
2.Entering again will make you disqualified ,so if you have a girl friend you can apply with her as a derivative not as a primary entrant ..or if you are below 21 you can apply with your family.
Hope This answer is helpful.
Regards
Kirubel N.
November 15, 2017 at 19:08
Almost right. In point 2, the relationship must be married – not just a girlfriend.
November 15, 2017 at 17:58
1. Yes. Reading the instruction would have told you that.
2. In future, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.
November 14, 2017 at 17:45
Hello Brit! Smth i dont understand,if the VB that gets out on month June 2018 for example,is lets say 28*** that means that all the nr below that are now current, and there doesnt matter when the interview date will come,a child goin 21 problem here :/
November 15, 2017 at 18:01
The age of the child is judged based on the month when the visa is available – i.e. the first month when the interview can happen.

I don’t know – contact USCIS.

You can do that.
November 17, 2017 at 00:34

Dear Simon
I am the winner of the lottery for the year 2018 on the continent of Africa No. 20875 and the news bulletin on the number of interviews in Africa for January 2018 13000.

Hi Brit, I won the dv-2003 lottery, but was denied visa due to a minor signature error in the original entry application form. Now my country isn’t eligible for dv-2019. Please what other easier likely options do I have to emigrate to the US?

Family based or employment based. That’s it.

Either family or employment based. That’s all.

Hi Brit, Can I apply for DV lottery with my name as a primary entrant and my wife as a spouse then I make another entry with my wife’s name as a primary entrant and listing myself as a spouse? Is this OK or this might result in disqualification? Thanks.

That’s OK

Dear Simon, I applied the dvlottery 2018 for my mum and she was selected but she has never gone to school but volunteered at a children home for a long time, does qualify for visa. The least requirement in my country is High School, i am hésitant to risk the amount of money I spend on her medical and visa application few, pls let me know if she can qualify for the process. The children home is owned by the government but she only volunteered with no pay.

That volunteering would not qualify her.
