Hi Brit, here some questions about the online entry to the lottery:
1 is family name the surname?
2 it is true that if I apply online the last week of the lottery I’m disqualified?
3 can I apply and be approved to the tourist or other non immigrant visa after submitting an entry to the lottery?
Thanks a lot for your videos and your answers
October 10, 2019 at 04:43
1. Yes.
2. What a completely idiotic idea.
3. Yes.
October 10, 2019 at 00:02
Hi BritSimon I was panicked as I heard The news about new immigration rule which is gonna be effective as of Nov.03,2019.
1.Is that possible for DV Lottery winners to have health insurance before entering USA?
2.How could it could be possible especially for African citizens?
3.How do you think the sponsor can help to prove the alien could have guaranteed private insurance?
4.Finaly do you think this new rule will affect dv winners of 2020 who are already submitted ds 260?

Thank you
October 10, 2019 at 04:47

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it. So it doesn’t matter right if it’s gonna expired in 2022? I
October 10, 2019 at 05:48
. If you cannot obtain a particular document, send an explanation of why you cannot obtain the document, as an attachment in .jpeg or .pdf format, to [email protected], with your case number in the subject line. Diversity visas are numerically limited and there is no guarantee a visa will be available. Only a consular officer can determine, at the time of the visa interview, if you are qualified to receive a Diversity Visa.
i dont have Military records, I have not currently serving in the military or
who has previously served in the military
so it must explanation why i am not sending this doument?
October 11, 2019 at 03:18
For military service, no UNLESS military service is normally expected in your country. Really – common sense.

Hi Simon
Winner 2020AF62***, marital status single. I am planning to get married this coming December and I don’t what to unlock DS 260 to include my husband (after legally getting married). Could this be a challenge (as disqualification) if in case I will be schedule for an interview probably, say towards the end of the 2020 lottery period (late next year)?
October 11, 2019 at 03:22
Are you trying to wreck your case?
When you get married – update your DS260 with your status change. You don’t have to complete a DS260 for your husband But you are required to complete your form correctly.
October 10, 2019 at 07:02

It’s up to you.
October 10, 2019 at 08:27
Hi Simon,
First of all, thank you so much for your help!
I’ve got a couple of questions:
– Currently, I live in the USA as a student. What mailing address I should fill? USA or my country?
– If I get selected for DV 2021 and filled my country mailing address, do I have to travel back to my country or I can change my status here in the U.S.?
October 11, 2019 at 03:24
1. Where you live.
2. Your choice between the two methods.
October 10, 2019 at 09:00

October 11, 2019 at 03:27
When – depends on when you submit ds260 and documents.
1. Yes
2. Read the FAQ
October 12, 2019 at 20:50
Please i submitted ds260 on the 10th july…
Application approved on 16th August and submitted documents and received a mail of receiving it by 5th of September.
October 12, 2019 at 23:48

Hello Brit I want to understand something from the three option given as relates to the issues of passport on this year DV2021 I seen other others playing even without passport so can u please explain those options for me especially option number 3 on the EDV form please Brit. Because I do not understand it
October 11, 2019 at 03:28
The main option is to give your passport details. If you enter without that – you hade better comply with one of the limited exceptions. If you don’t understand the exceptions they probably don’t apply to you.
October 11, 2019 at 03:29
You only enter the details of the father on your entry IF you are married.
October 10, 2019 at 10:08
Hi simon,
Thanks for this helpful blog.I would request here to dv lottery winners (2020) to share there interview experiences as much as they can.i only see few ones.

Hi Simon,
My question is regarding step children.
Will I have to include the son of my wife in my entry irrespective of with there are documentations to proof if he’s my step-child?

Hi,
Should I provide a court record if i have NOT been convicted of a crime?
In our country the certificate says “this person has NOT been convicted of a crime” , so should I include that too?
October 11, 2019 at 03:36
Provide what you have then.
October 11, 2019 at 12:48
Hi Simon,
You didnt get me i guess… and i didnt understand.
I have NOT been convicted or done a crime. but in my country the court issues a certificate saying that you HAVE NOT been convicted of a crime. So should i send that to KCC and take to interview?
October 11, 2019 at 14:33
So My earlier answer stands. Provide what you have. Just make sure you have read and followed the instructions on the reciprocity page for your country.
October 10, 2019 at 13:03

Hi Simon
I’m currently in my last year of school (its called gymnasium here in Switzerland, equivalent to high school), that means once I graduated this summer I’ll meet the requirement of completing a 12-year education. Is it possible to apply now already for the DV-2021, even tho I’m still in my last year, or do I have to wait until I received my official graduation certificate in summer 2020.
October 11, 2019 at 03:40
Yes
October 11, 2019 at 16:48
Hey Simon
Yes to which option of my question?
October 11, 2019 at 21:20
The answer is yes – so the backup plan doesn’t need to be answered.
So – “Is it possible to apply now already for the DV-2021, even tho I’m still in my last year,” Yes.
October 10, 2019 at 14:37
Hello Simon, can overstay visa in USA apply for this lottery?
Thank you
October 11, 2019 at 03:42
You cannot overcome a ban – so leave asap.
October 10, 2019 at 15:12
Good day i would like to find if get diagonised with a communicable diseases do you get refusal for visa or you can get treatment and still qualify for the visa. for example you get diagonised with Syphilis or Tb
October 11, 2019 at 03:43
If the disease can be treated in time you could be approved.
October 10, 2019 at 15:54
Dear Mr Brit,
My birth place on birth fortifications is deferent from what written on my passport
On 2021 DV application I have followed my passport information regardless what written on birth certificate.
Is that going to effect my application qualification .
If I have been selected may affect me visa disqualification .
Thank and best regards
October 11, 2019 at 03:44
Wait and see if you are even selected.
October 10, 2019 at 16:12
Hello Sir,
I am 2020 DV Selectee from Nepal and currently I am in USA with student Visa. While filing the
DV application I mistakenly used Nepal address as a current address but I was in USA, also I had used two years old photo which I am not sure it meets the DV criteria or not.
What is your opinion in this issue, will it be big problem or it will be ok?
October 11, 2019 at 03:51
You need to be clear whether you want to interview here or in Nepal. YOu have been on the site for months, You really should be acquainted with the FAQ by now!
October 10, 2019 at 16:54
Hello Simon, I am from Ecuador and the passaport number has 10 digits the DV form only allows 9 digits what should I do??? The only number that could fit the textbox is the “contry code” listed in my pastport
October 11, 2019 at 03:54
Drop the first digit.
October 16, 2019 at 01:32
Seriously, that is the solution? I am from Ecuador too and I have the same problem. It is not the passport book number they are asking for?
October 16, 2019 at 04:01
Passport number.
October 10, 2019 at 17:42
Hi Brit, please if I fill the form using mobile phone how will I check if I’m selected for 2021 entry? Because there’s no comfirmation code indicated in the website you show to use or I will be contact through my email or telephone numbers Please I’m confused
October 10, 2019 at 17:51
Please Brit, why you don’t want to reply me I need to know so I can’t made a mistake
October 10, 2019 at 18:02
Is my question not good enough to answer?
October 10, 2019 at 18:44
Theresa, just relax and give time to Simon to at least read your question. He is not seating and cheating live, as he has his own job and life. Btw, nobody will be contacting you if you win. It is your responsibility to check your status. Once you submit your application for dv2021, you should get a confirmation number that you save somewhere and use once the results are announced (in May).
October 10, 2019 at 18:47
*chatting ?
October 11, 2019 at 03:57
You need to learn some patience and use some common sense.
October 10, 2019 at 18:58
Theresa, Brit will surely respond when he reads your question. He might be busy with his own work. But the point is, there is no entry without a confirmation code. Once your internet is ok and you’re at the right website, you should be able to make an entry and receive a confirmation and use same to check irrespective of whether you use a mobile phone or a normal computer.
October 11, 2019 at 03:56
I don’t know what you did. You should have received a confirmation code.
October 10, 2019 at 20:03
Hi. Thank so much for your helpful videos! Question-if our family has a child who is 21 in January 2020 I understand he has to be listed on our application. But can he also apply on his own or would that be considered a duplicate application?
October 11, 2019 at 04:00
He can be on yours and his own application.
October 10, 2019 at 20:16
greetings,
A friend of mine enrolled me and herself in to the dv lottery, she has added her own address as my present address. now that I have been selected for the DV lottery is it okay if I add my own address on my DS-260 form (my address which I’m living in since the age of 16) as my present address or should I add her address as my present address? or I’m disqualified?
I’d really appreciate if you reply to my question.
Thank you in advance.
October 11, 2019 at 04:00

October 10, 2019 at 21:08
Hi Simon. Just saw your YouTube video and got two more questions:
1. There is a particular case in my country wich I’m down to. Due to some specific reasons my country’s goverment stablished a new law that allows people with expired passports the chance to ask for a passport extension, wich is my case. So, my passport expired in July 2018 but I’ve got my extension in December 2018 and It is unexpired by now. There is still chance for me to apply? If so, should I put this new date as the expiration date?
2. Does any photo brigthen up with Photoshop will be desqualified?
October 11, 2019 at 04:02
1. Yes
2. It must be minimal changes.
October 10, 2019 at 22:15
Awesome videos you provide to help people!
I study in the States on a f1 Visa and would like to enter the DV lottery. Do you know if I can apply and take the interview in the states or do I need to go back home (to Germany)for the interview? (I will only enter if I can take the interview in the USA).
keep up your amazing effort helping people and thanks a lot for the information in your videos,
Chris

October 11, 2019 at 00:34
Hi Brit
My wife, my kid and I were denied in 2016 DV interview. So sad to say, but my wife and I divorced in 2018 and our son passed early 2019. Now I want to play the DV 2021, should I include my deceased son in the section that asks for “how many children do you have?”
Thanks

Hi Simon. What’s the deal with lockihg and unlocking a b260 form? I have filled in and submitted this years dv form with my confirmation number to check from next year may. Where is this form that people are locking and unlocking? I’m very confused.
October 11, 2019 at 14:28
YOu don’t need to waste time thinking about that unless you get selected.
October 11, 2019 at 10:46
Sir,
À relative told me that he played without passport and he is not concern about B in the entry. They provide false passport number.
I told him it is ground of disqualification if selectef but to be sure I told him I will ask you.
Thanks
October 11, 2019 at 14:29
The instructions make that crystal clear.
October 11, 2019 at 11:00
hello Simon, please i have a compound name as my last name. can i input my name in the last name box or use one name as my last name and the other as my other name.
October 11, 2019 at 14:30
You can choose.
October 11, 2019 at 11:12
Hey Brit, I have read your information and watched the video about filling in the DS 260 form but still something is unclear to me.
Providing the addresses I have lived from the age of 16:
I have traveled allot but never gave up my home address in my own country.
1) Some hotels I stayed at abroad where a few months do I need to mention these?
2) Had temporary jobs abroad for multiple months where I stayed at, do I mention these?
3) Had a job for a year in NZ stayed there too, do I list this?
4) Stayed with friends for a few months and more also abroad, Do I list these?
5) Stayed with my uncle in my own country but was registered at my dads house. Do I list this?
6) When I was a kid my parents go a divorced and I moved in between these two multiple times, do I list them all?
7) Stayed in one country for 5 years also 3 different addresses these as well?
If all are yes there going to be more than 10 different addresses but not enough room to put them all. But I do not want to lie on my form. Any suggestions? Hope I’m not wasting your time.
October 11, 2019 at 14:31
Jeez. List all SIGNIFICANT addresses. Not holidays, but all places where you would have had mail arriving at that address.
October 11, 2019 at 13:29
I am curious about this as well. I moved a lot, I studied and lived in US on at least 3 different addresses which I no longer even remember and don’t have anyone to contact to ask this. If I were ever selected (one can always hope) I would not want to omit information on my form but I honestly don’t remember and cannot provide that information accurately. Would this be a serious issue?
Thanks Simon

So you know your case number has time to wait, and you have read that there is no concern because there is lots of time, but still you need me to say “something”?
Relax. We are 11 days in to a 365 day process. Please think about that.

Hi Simon,
Passport number is now required in participating it the DV-2021 Lottery.
Do you think that filing for the DV Lottery will have any significant impact on any future visa applications?
For example, will I have any problem if I apply for a B1/B2 visa in the future? My concern is that my name and passport number will pop out in their system and they might believe that I have immigrant intent because I participated in DV Lottery. The true is that currently immigrate in the US is only a wish; only in the case of winning, I will carefully considered if leave everything behind to start a new life.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Silvia
October 11, 2019 at 20:17
In interviews previously, USCIS/DHS officials have REPEATEDLY explained that simply *entering* the lottery is NOT considered immigrant intent.
October 11, 2019 at 16:06
Brit,
It’s not my first time applying for the DV program, so I’m pretty aware of the whole process.
I was reading the instructions just in case something was different and I saw this: Do not submit an entry to the DV program unless you meet both of these requirements. (referring to the education and work experience). The wording is weird because it literally says “education OR work experience” above. What is this all about?
October 11, 2019 at 20:22
You have misread the instructions. The Both refers to what is clearly labeled Requirement #1 (Eligibility by country of birth or small exceptions) and Requirement #2 (education OR work experience). The BOTH refers to #1 and #2.
October 11, 2019 at 20:55
Ugh, you’re right. Don’t mind me. Thanks!
October 11, 2019 at 21:26
Hi Brit a friend of mine with cn eu 47k has received today email from kcc. Also three other guys with cn eu29k has received email. I actually asked the same question today. I heard quite high numbers received NL1 already. Did they change rules or what? I am EU44 and has not send my DS260 yet. Should I be worried? I don’t want to be late.

No rules have been changed. They can ask for documents from ANY case number, BUT interviews are scheduled by case number.
