This is Mohamed, first of all thank you Brit for your great efforts and support for everyone over here. I had a problem when I try to complete my DV application entry. (Hmmm… can’t reach this page) I had done more than 6 times and I get the same error whenever I need to continue on the 2nd page before submitting the application and i had done that before 30 minutes cut off time.
Do you know what the reason behind this system errors?
I appreciate your urgent assistance and feedback to resolve this problem ASAP.
Thank you,
Mohamed Babikir

Hello Britsimons please I want to find out if an AOser currently working on OPT has to fill form I -140 as part of the package to be sent to us is?
October 31, 2020 at 19:20
AOS questions here:

October 31, 2020 at 16:46
Hello Britsimons, my son is an aoser he left Ghana at age 18 and is now US and has been selected for delivery 2021. Please does he need police reports from both US AND GHANA?
October 31, 2020 at 16:54
No. Police certs are never needed for the USA and AOS cases don’t need police certs in general.
Your question makes me think you or your son needs to learn about the process. Go to the link below and read the spreadsheet linked from the first post in that thread.

Hi Brit, Just to have an idea.. when trumph initially put immigration ban for 2 months, did KCC sent 2NLs for dv 2020 interviews during that period? based on that experience can’t we guess whether we can get 2NL for 2021 on Novemebr 2020 or January 2021?
October 28, 2020 at 22:54
No we cannot tell anything by that because the embassies were closed mid March and the ban was implemented April 22. If it was that easy, I would have made that connection.
October 28, 2020 at 22:34
Hi Brit,
I send the documents to [email protected] but didn’t receive an autoreply
Is that normal?
October 28, 2020 at 22:54
Not really – but some people miss the email.
October 31, 2020 at 08:12
Dear Mr. Simon,
Your videos have helped us a lot in getting through the DV process and we are very grateful! I have a question for you about submitting documents to KCC.
I submitted my DS-260 application quite some time back, around July of 2020 and yet did not receive an email to submit my supporting documents. Is it normal for this process to take this much time? Or should I contact KCC about the status of my application?
Thank you in advance for your help!
October 31, 2020 at 14:43
It’s not a fast process and was made slower when KCC had to switch resources to DV2020. So – be patient.
October 30, 2020 at 01:32
Hi, brit thank your outstanding.
I am asking you. If me and my wife were get our visa can we travel separately in different time during the visa validity or we have to reach one time at the POE?.
Thank you.
October 30, 2020 at 04:01
The principal applicant can go before the derivative. Not the other way around.
October 28, 2020 at 23:16
Sir,
My wife and I are separated 8 month after 7 years together. The reason is she can not give birth, since I told her I want to take another one she left. I called her several times for photos she always said I will give you but until now nothing. Her ID photos I have is very old years ago.
The last year photo I do not have it because I lost phone.
Knowing I must list her, my question is: can I use that Old Old photo?
Note. We will divorce anyway in few months.
October 29, 2020 at 03:45
You can decide.
October 29, 2020 at 08:33
what I am wondering using her old photo will disqualify me if selected even we got the official paper of legal separation from the court,?
October 29, 2020 at 22:26
That doesn’t make any difference.
October 29, 2020 at 01:09
Hi good day, my age is 23, so I would like to know if my parents have to declare me on their US DV application since I’m over age 21?
October 29, 2020 at 03:47
No.
October 29, 2020 at 03:19
Hi Brit, my DS-260 has been unlocked for me to enable me update it, particularly, to add my first child who’s above 21 years, which I failed to do earlier. Definitely she is not migrating to US with us because she’s been aged out. But there’s one question that I want you to help me to answer, and that’s: “Is this child immigrating to the US with you at a later date to join you?” Please what’s the best way to answer this question?
October 29, 2020 at 03:48
No
October 29, 2020 at 06:08
Hello, Sir, I hope you are doing great, first of all I would thank for all your efforts and your help, I have a question, I am from the eligible country for ED visa but I live in another country as a refugee and I have a valid passport am I eligible to apply for DE visa 2022, for example I was born in Afghanistan and I moved to India as a refugee and have a valid passport from my country of born, how am I eligible to apply, thanks in advance.
October 29, 2020 at 22:12
You can enter the lottery giving your place of birth. IF YOU win, You can process where you live.
October 29, 2020 at 07:42
Hello brit ,
My case number us AS11xxx I received the documents email after 2months from submitting the ds. I have 2 small questions
1) should i send the documents immediately or better to wait so police certificate for example won’t expire?
2) my wife’s passport expire in Aug 2021 should i renew before submitting the documents?
October 29, 2020 at 22:15
1. Either way. The police cert will remain valid up to 12 months.
2. Your choice.
October 30, 2020 at 08:08
So it wouldn’t matter about the passports as long as it’s valid right?
Thank you Simon
October 29, 2020 at 07:59
Hi Simon. I was watching your video, ‘DV Lottery | Numbers of entries and analysis for DV2021’, on youtube, and noticed that you mentioned that the ‘Selectees’ numbers include derivatives. I’ve been tracking the US DV data since 2005, and was under the impression that the numbers of selectees, obtained from the US State department’s Statistics website, are excluding derivatives. I’ve reread the paragraph of the different year’s selection stats, and couldn’t find any clear explanation on whether the selectees numbers include derivatives or not.
Can you clarify on how you arrive at the understanding that the selectees numbers include derivatives?
October 29, 2020 at 22:25
Actually that is so crystal clear that I wonder how you don’t know that after all these years!
There are many pieces of evidence to prove with 100% certainty what I am saying. However, to give a few sources you could simply look at the official issuance data (given monthly listing DV1, DV2 and DV3). You could also look at the selectee announcements where for example this year they give the number of “applicants” as being 132,404 and then talk about principal applicants. Simple math proves that 132k would be >250k people if that was only principals. And then we have the CEAC data which proves my point over and over again.
Really – there is absolutely no doubt.
October 30, 2020 at 00:23
Thanks, Simon.
I’ve looked at section E of the Sep 2020 Visa Bulletin (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2020/visa-bulletin-for-september-2020.html), and can now see that, even though it isn’t explicit, and with a bit of deduction, you can conclude that ‘132,404’ registered applicants, include derivatives.
Do you mind forwarding the link(s) to the CEAC data that supports this conclusion?
When you mentioned the ‘official issuance data (given monthly listing DV1, DV2 and DV3)’, are you referring to the report issued every 3 years (e.g. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/AnnualReports/FY2017AnnualReport/FY17AnnualReport-TableVII.pdf), or a section in the Visa Bulletins?
This might be a good future topic to walk through in details on your youtube channel.
October 30, 2020 at 03:58
Again, this is really clear already.
https://dvcharts.xarthisius.xyz/ceacFY20.html
Google the monthly stats.
October 29, 2020 at 09:03
Hello dear Mr Simon!
I have received the email for further documents after submitting the DS260 form.
Should I provide any document of court record if I have not been convicted of a crime?
Thank you!
October 29, 2020 at 22:27
You need to provide police certs.
You only provide court records if you have been prosecuted in court.
Same principle as you only provide military papers if you have been in the military.
October 29, 2020 at 22:33
My father is a selectee and he is currently suing someone in court. Does he have to provide court records?
October 29, 2020 at 11:04
Hi ! quick question . should I translate all the required documents from my native language into English and do Notarial approvement or just send them as originals?
October 29, 2020 at 22:28
Just read and follow the instructions. No need to overthink it!!
October 29, 2020 at 11:35

October 29, 2020 at 11:40
Hi brit,
I shocked by the VB for Nepal, only increased by 50. What could be the reasons sir? Does this indicated risk to 8k/9k case number? please, enlighten me, this is giving me lots of stress.
October 29, 2020 at 22:30
Read my post about it.
October 29, 2020 at 11:40
Hello Sir
i wish to know when my case can be available. is there high possibility of attending interview ? if yes which month will that be ?
my case number is 79###
October 29, 2020 at 22:31
Your number is meaningless without a region – but I assume it is AF. It is too soon to know whether you will get a chance, or when that will be. You need to wait and see.
October 29, 2020 at 11:55
Hi brit.
1.Will DV2021 interviews be started , after DV2020 9k visas are issued or both can be going in parallel
2. When DV2021 be started to schedule?
Thanks
October 29, 2020 at 22:32
1. Both could happen in parallel.
2. We cannot be 100% sure. I hope interviews will start in January (2NLs in November) but we cannot be certain that will happen.
October 29, 2020 at 12:36
The updated December visa bulletin increases by only 50 from 2700 to 2750 why is low increasement in case number in visa bulletin from Nepal it is affecting the higher case number to being schedule for interview now it became very risky to higher case number and might be higher case number won’t be scheduled for interview. what it is considered in your opinion.
October 29, 2020 at 22:33
Read my article.
October 29, 2020 at 13:16
visa bulletin has just published what do u think 6K is too low for EU isn’t it??maybe my 13K won’t be even published
October 29, 2020 at 22:39
Read my article rather than making silly assumptions.
October 31, 2020 at 05:29
Dear Simon,
I hope you are doing great!
I am @ AF 68XXX. Only 9 months left if they are willing to process. I am losing hope with this number. When will I know for sure, If I get a chance for the interview? So that I can try other opportunities with out waiting until sep 30, 2021.
Do you think if democrats win the election they will process beyond sep 2021 to compensate the 3 months we already lost.
When can we know officially the higher case numbers from all the regions?( Which month)
Thanks
October 31, 2020 at 14:41
1. You will only know for sure when you get the 2NL.
2. No
3. Be clear – you mean the highest that will be interviewed? MId/late July 2021.
October 29, 2020 at 13:50
Hi Simon!
Hope you’re doing great!
It’s been more than 6 weeks since I had sent my documents to KCC but I haven’t received ready to scheduling email! Is it normal or should I resend the documents! My case number is AS6.5k !
October 29, 2020 at 22:40
Wait.
October 29, 2020 at 14:45
Hi simon! Am megersa alemayehu winners of DV_2021. I submitted my ds260 in August 2020 still I haven’t get any email to submit documents yet. When I get the email?
October 29, 2020 at 22:41
I don’t know. Be patient.
October 29, 2020 at 16:43
Hello Brit, I’m texting you in case my experience can be interesting for you.
We had an appointment in Moscow, and it was cancelled due to to COVID 19
After the Mehta positive decision on sep 9, we tried to reach Moscow, to get new appointment, but the q was too big, so had no chance to make it.
After the restriction on issuing visas in the Schengen area was lifted (on Sep 14 I guess) we asked Austrian embassy to help us, and thanks god, they help us, so Moscow embassy transferred our account (case) to Vienna, and they issued visa for us.
So the only annotation in visa is “may be subject to pp9993” that’s all. The consul said that we can return to Russia, stay there for 14 day and then enter the us.
And we did it.?
In one of your videos you’ve mention a man (Kurtis’s client I guess), who failed, but I don’t know hid details.
I just can share my experience, may be I can be helpful to your followers.
Our details:
Citizenship of Russia
Visa issued in Schengen area in the end of September.
We crossed the border in Miami
The annotation in visa: may be subject to PP 9993
If you need some more details, please let me know. Stay safe.
Ana.
October 29, 2020 at 22:43
Well done for your initiative and determination!!
October 29, 2020 at 17:20
Hi Brits,. I am dv2021winer, can i enter dv2022 again ?
October 29, 2020 at 22:43
Yes
October 29, 2020 at 17:50
Hello simon, november visa bulletin has been release, Are they 2NL letters though?
October 29, 2020 at 22:44
No. Interviews are not being scheduled at this time.
October 29, 2020 at 19:37
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2021EU11xxx, I submitted my application months ago, but haven’t received any email from KCC asking for documents so far. Should I still wait? Thanks
October 29, 2020 at 22:44
Yes
October 29, 2020 at 23:08
Hi Simon!
I have watched your video on how to take your own photo to apply to the DV lottery. I took a photo that I believe is adequate in terms of background and composition. I am trying to use the official photo tool on the gov’s website. I can open the tool normally in the Internet Explorer but I can not upload my photo into it in order to crop it.
I believe I have adobe extension installed. Am I doing something wrong? I tried it on two different computers and the same thing happens every time.
Thanks so much for your help. 🙂
October 29, 2020 at 23:58
Use egreencardphoto.com
October 29, 2020 at 23:47
Hi, BritSimon.
First of all, thanks for all the help I got through this blog, I went all the way, won the lottery, passed the interview, and been living in the States for 3 months already.
My question now is not lottery related, but since you knew all the answers before, maybe you’re gonna know this one, too.
Am I allowed to travel outside the US now? If I go back home for the holidays, and come back in, let’s say, March, can they revoke my green card?
I heard from more than a few people that I need to stay in the States for the first 6 months after receiving the card, but I cannot find that rule anywhere online. Does that make any sense to you? Maybe that rule existed before or is it just a rumor?
October 29, 2020 at 23:57
That is a silly rumor. Come and go as you please. Read the FAQ about how long you can be outside the country in one absence.
October 30, 2020 at 00:42
Yeah, I know about those. More than a 6 months is not recommended, but still allowable. More than a year only with a re-entry permit.
I’ll play safe, keep it under 4 months for sure. I was just wandering about this rumor, so I wanted to make sure.
Thanks for the answer 🙂
October 30, 2020 at 00:47
Hi Simon,
I had to make few changes to my DS 260 and requested for unlocking it. The form was unlocked and I filled it completely. However, I could not change the location for being interviewed. Does this mean my case has already progressed. My case number is 2021AS00006XXX. I am from Nepal and currently in Australia.
Thank you
October 30, 2020 at 03:59
No it doesn’t mean that. Once selected, the interview location can only be changed by KCC.
October 30, 2020 at 02:05
Hello Simon, a friend has 3 derivatives, his wife and 2 children but the oldest son aged (21 years) in December 2019 after registration in the draw. On ceac.state.gov there are 4 DS260s including your child’s who is no longer eligible because of her age. The questions are: 1. Send the DS and not send your child’s? 2. How to delete your child’s DS? 3. Send your 21-year-old son’s DS and also her documents but not bring your son to the interview because she is not eligible?
October 30, 2020 at 04:02
1. Don’t send the 21 year old.
2. You can’t delete it. JUst don’t submit it.
3. Already answered.
October 30, 2020 at 02:12
Thank you, Sir, for everything you have been doing to help people in needs, I do not know how to appreciate you. thanks again.
October 30, 2020 at 07:44
Good AM/PM Simon
I’ve got a couple of questions :-
1- how are the case numbers divided among winners in all regions ? Considering my self a winner with CN 1 , would there be someone In Another continent or country holding exactly the same CN?
2- they say : ” no one country can receive more than 7% of the available Diversity visas in any one year ” please explain it ( mathematically).
October 30, 2020 at 14:26
1. Yes
2. 7% of globally issued visas. So if 55,000 were issued, no single country could have more than 3850. It’s a CAP, not an allocation.
October 30, 2020 at 08:18
I’m afraid there’s one more question!
It’s been 4 months since I submitted my Ds260 form, and yet, it’s not been processed, is this normal? BTW, I asked KCC twice to unlock my ds260 ( I was able to modify the form twice after submitting first time ). I’m from Sudan, with CN 2021AF19***.
You said that the country, unlocking ds260 and the CN length can delay the process .
Could these factors be the reason behind this delay or there are some mistakes people do that could also cause delay?
October 30, 2020 at 14:27
THere have been delays in processing. Just be patient.
October 30, 2020 at 08:52
Hi Simon,
Finding your YouTube videos and website has really been incredibly helpful. Thank you for all of it. I have learnt so much.
I was chosen for the DV2021. Unfortunately, my case number is really high: 80k (from the African region – South Africa). So while a miracle may happen, I am not hopeful.
My question is, if I were to apply again with DV2022 would my submission be disqualified? I am trying to determine the risk. I don’t want to apply for the DV2022 and jeopardise my tiny chance now with the DV2021, or have my DV2022 disqualified and therefore further jeopardizing any other chance in the future.
Do you perhaps have any idea on this?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Candice.
October 30, 2020 at 14:28
No risk in entering DV2022.
October 30, 2020 at 09:37
Hi, BritSimon! Thank you for your blog and help. My boyfriend and I are going to apply for DV2022, but something isn’t clear for me in this process(
We are both Russians and live in Russia too, but he was born in Kazahstan (as his parents were in this country for some time). So he has a Russian citizenship, follow Russian laws and work in Russia, but the passport says his place of birth is Kazahstan. Should he say in application that his country of chargeability is Kazahstan?
His mom (Russian) was born in Russia (USSR)
His dad (Russian) was born in Kazahstan (USSR)
I was trying to find an answer here: “Because there is a numerical limitation on immigrants who enter from a country or geographic region, each individual is charged to a country. Your chargeability refers to the country towards which limitation you count. Your country of eligibility will normally will be the same as your country of birth. However, you may choose your country of eligibility as the country of birth of your spouse, or the country of birth of either of your
parents if you were born in a country in which neither parent was born, and in which your parents were not resident at the time of your birth. These are the only three ways to select your country of chargeability.”
But instructions don’t cover our case, or am I wrong? Please, help me with that… Thank you!
October 30, 2020 at 14:30
“Your country of eligibility will normally will be the same as your country of birth.”
Just that.
Kazakhstan
October 30, 2020 at 13:11
after I list my 19 year old as a derivative, can they still apply for themselves if they are eligible or that’s considered double entry?
October 30, 2020 at 14:34
Yes the child can have their own entry as well.
October 30, 2020 at 13:41
Hello BritSimon, I recently got a new passport from my Embassy in Berlin (I am from Ghana) and the new passport’s states that the place of issuance is Berlin. In the application form, should i put Germany as the Country/Authority of Issuance or Ghana?
October 30, 2020 at 14:35
Ghana.
October 30, 2020 at 15:18
Mr. Britsimon,
My CN is AF2XXX.. Submitted all documents and received response that case is ready to be scheduled when CN becomes current.
1 As per the DV language, what does case ready to be scheduled mean?
2.With this when will 2NL be given or out?
3. Then, when will interview be done?
I am a winner of DV 2021.
Thanks
Mamie
October 30, 2020 at 16:05
1. Ready to be scheduled for an interview (once interviews are being arranged again).
2. I am hoping they will start scheduling in November for January interviews, but it could be later than that.
3. See 2
October 30, 2020 at 16:36
I entered my birthday date incorrectly in the dv document instead of choosing 1991 I choosed 1990 by mistake and I submitted it with out focusing on the numbers and my question if I win the dv will they cancel my dv or I can tell them that I did it by mistake and they will accept? Or not? And shall I tell them?
October 30, 2020 at 17:35
Normally they will forgive a minor error such as that.
October 30, 2020 at 16:39
Hi Brit,
Please I have gotten the email for documents submition. The passport I have now has 7 months validity and I am waiting for the new one which is difficult to have. Can I first submit the document with the passport I have now? Do I have to send the new one to kcc when it is out?
Thanks for your reply
October 30, 2020 at 17:36
Send what you have and once you get the new passport you can show both old and new at the interview.
October 30, 2020 at 16:40
Hello Brit,
My Visa was issued on September 2020 but unable to travel till January 2021. Can I apply DV 2022
October 30, 2020 at 17:35

October 30, 2020 at 17:25
Hi Simon ,
Don’t know if you answers to this question before .My kids passport expired last year can I still apply for the dv 2022 lottery with their expired passport ?
Thank you
October 30, 2020 at 17:37
Yes. The derivative passport is not required for entry.
October 30, 2020 at 18:35
Dear Brit Simon,
I asked a question on Facebook that I couldn’t ask here because I had to send a photo. I would be very grateful if you could check it out! (Facebook name: Del Phi)
And thank you so much for hosting this great blog & YouTube channel, it’s helped me a ton already! 🙂
All the best,
Delphi
October 30, 2020 at 18:44
My recent video shows how to validate a photo from a technical perspective. I don’t want to become the human photo checker because I would quickly become overwhelmed. So – I am not offering to check any entry photos.
October 30, 2020 at 22:25
I have watched this video already but I wanted to make completely sure that nothing is wrong with the picture.
I fully understand that you can’t check the photos for hundreds of people.
So I would be willing to make a donation as compensation for your time if you check the photo.
But I understand if you still don’t want to do that, it’s really just an offer.
Best wishes,
Delphi

The image you sent me is 480 x 480 – that immediately is a problem, and something you can easily check for yourself by checking the official instructions or the validation tools I have explained.

I did check all of that. The picture is 600 x 600. I just figured out that facebook compressed the photo – on my laptop it’s 600, when I download it from facebook it’s 480… is the photo okay then?

Hi britsimon,
By mistake, I didn’t save the confirmation code. How can I retrieve it back or get it becuz I wasn’t able to print/written down in the window.
October 30, 2020 at 20:15
When the system is open for results checking (in May) you will be able to retrieve it.

Hey Simon. Just spoke to an immigration lawyer on Twitter who told me that she expects DV 2021 to not be properly processed even under a Biden administration because of the 500k Visa backlog. Would you agree with that idea? Thanks.
October 30, 2020 at 20:23
That makes no sense at all.

Hello BritSimon,
I know that the DV lottery winners need to obtain the police certificates from countries where they lived for a certain period of time.
But, do I need to obtain a police certificate from the U.S?? I lived there for more than 2 years.
Thank you:)

No.

Hi Brit. My DS-260 was unlocked for me to correct some mistake in the family information section. I’m done and ready to resubmit. However, it likely that I will take a new job in the next few weeks, and I don’t know whether I should delay it for a few more days to update the employment section too. Pls I want to know:
1. Whether it is necessary. My CN is AF45XXX.
2. Whenever one’s employment status changes before the interview, is it necessary to send unlock request to KCC and update your DS-260?
Thank you.
October 30, 2020 at 22:59
It is not necessary to update every time you change your job.

Hello Simon, I am an Indian and was born in an eligible country in North Africa. I live in India now with my family who all are born in India. I have already submitted the request for DV 2022 using my country of birth. Can i also submit one more request as my spouse being the primary applicant? Can she also apply based on my country of birth?
October 31, 2020 at 14:37
Yes
October 31, 2020 at 05:28
DV2020 and DV2021 selectees who filed lawsuit are eligible to enter Diversity Visa 2022. Do you think Department of State will intentionally not select these people as DV 2022 winners (if they choose to participate) as a retaliation?
October 31, 2020 at 14:39
Of course that won’t happen.

October 31, 2020 at 14:41

Dear Brit,
Thank you for helping all of us to get through the DV process! Really appreciate your help.
Is there any means of knowing the status of our DS-260 application? I submitted my DS-260 application back in July, 2020 and yet didn’t receive any response from KCC.
Case # 2021AS00016874
Also, what are the possibilities of DS-260 being rejected? And does the KCC inform if the application was rejected?
Thanks much in advance!
October 31, 2020 at 14:47
They don’t reject DS260s. But your case number is not low so there is no need for them to rush or for you to be impatient. Wait.

Thank you so much, Brit! Fingers crossed! You are awesome!
