Dear Brit,
My interview was yesterday, they said i am qualified but i need to provide original signed form i-134 with tax return for the sponsor, and send them for visa.
does that mean i will be rejected or it is normal and they will give me visa if i sent the documents.
really i feel frustrated,
It’s a pity you didn’t have that with you (as I always recommend!). What embassy was that?
It means they are giving you a chance to rectify the mistake by providing the I-134. You will be on AP (Administrative processing) until you provide it. It would be best to get that to them ASAP – so move fast!
With respect to the information published under Visa section on marriage, which I quote below. I would like to have some clarification.
Marriage
Available for marriages entered into under civil law from the Principal Registrar of Marriages, C/O Registrar General’s Office, P.O. Box 118, Accra, Ghana. There is a fee for this service. Most marriages are performed under customary law, and written records are kept only if the couple chooses to register the marriage with the local council. Persons married under customary law who subsequently wish to marry under civil law must obtain a civil marriage certificate which reflects the words “married under native customary law” in the space provided for “condition.” Polygamous marriage is permissible under the customary law of some groups, but not under civil law.
My case is, I married my wife under customary marriage a year before blessing our marriage in the church due to some requirements in the church process, and then obtained a marriage certificate.
When filling visa application form, I will like to know which date to use as marriage date ( customary marriage date, which is without certificate) or (church wedding date, which came with certificate)
Hello Simon,
My family and I were interview yesterday and everything went smooth. So, at the end the interviewer told us your case approved for my entire (wife, 2 kids and I). After one hour from our interview, we received text message and email told us your case status updated and the cards ordered but my wife case number not updated and at the same time, we did not receive any confirmation for my wife either on email or text message. I checked my case online for me and my kids and all cases updated. On the other hand, my wife nothing updated. Please, could you explain why my wife still not showed up any update and what your advice I can do is. I am waiting to hear from you.
Hi Simon,
Following to my explanation above before 4 days ago about my wife update her status. Today, I received letters from USCIS (I-797, Notice of Action) approved our application of permanent residence for me and 2 kids except my wife. However, I am the principal applicant for DV lottery 2016 and my wife and kids accompanied. My question; is it possible approved my application for me and my kids without my wife? And the 2nd question; What should I do to know about my wife application? Please, I am waiting to your advice and suggestion because you are expert and I trust for your opinion.
As a winner of dv lottery, i do not have a sponsor in d USA. I have several places to live in USA. My father at home is ready to finance and support. Can he do the Affidavit of support for me?
Hi Brit, please I am Dv2017 winner and I have my high school certificate alright but I completed school in 2009 and didn’t continue.am working but but don’t have 2years working experience.will they deny me because of that.please help me
Dear Brit
Please in which of the following website can i log into with my 16 digit confirmation number to confirm my 2NL?
1. http://www.dvlottery.state .gov
2. ceac website
Thanks for all the advise.
Hello Brit,
My sister in law just sent me her 6 pages documents of 2015 taxes that has inscription form 1040A.
She also attached another 11 pages forms of W2 etc, all on taxes. I noticed that the information (figures total) is more than required in poverty form I-864p. She promised to fill I-134 and mail to me.
Please are these documents enough for tender at the interview?
hi MR BRITS .THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELPS . I’M A DV 2017 WINNER. I HAVE A MASTER DEGREE.I WANT TO KNOW THAT DOES IT NECESSARY TO TRANSLATE AND BRING MY UNIVERSITY DEGREE DOCUMENTS TO THE VISA INTERVIEW???(ADDITIONAL TO 12 YEAR SCHOOL DIPLOMA DOCUMENTS)
Hello Brit in the second letter we are not told of the documents to present during the interview. How do we check on the documents needed as I’m told by someone from the 2016 batch that he was not asked for an affidavit of support. I am a little bit confused. Please help.
Hi BRIT,I hope every thing with u is OK
My question is if I am winner of DV lottery,I have been making my hens meat on casual work in a INDIAN COMPANY. Am from a third world country(KENYA)and here this INDIAN they only pay sach people in cash and is a little even you can’t save,we call it hand to mouth in AMERICAN they call it CHEQUE to CHEQUE.
I don’t have an account will they ask for it or it is just the letter from my employer for work experience at my interview
Hi Brit My housband and I won the DV 2017. Within 7 weeks after we submitted our Ds260 he died and he was the principal applicant. In this case what do I do? Is there any chance for me
Hi Brit, why it’s that, when the principal applicate die in the process of the dv program and he/she was selected, but not with standing with in members of the family. And everyone played as family, for example married couple. And the dv lottery program is saying that, if anything happens to that principal applicate the program can’t continue. Then what about the rest of the family members like children and wife. Why they can’t continue? and they was all parts of that submission for that year. I will really like to understand this particular issue, Thanks very much.
They don’t apply as a family. Each person applies as an individual and lists derivatives. If the selectee dies, it’s over. This is standard US immigration law.
I am from LPZ – Bolivia and my interview will be in February 2017.
I think the way to send the documentation and pay the fee is different here, but there isn’t any kind of information for a DV visa in the consulate here.
The PDF document for Additional Embassy or Consulate Instruccions says: “All applicants who are scheduled for an interview must send the required documents at least five (5) business days in advance of the appointment date”
And it sends me to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/ , but with my case number I can’t register my interview.
I am trying to contact to the consulate here, but people there can’t give me any kind of usefull information
Have you know that in some countries the documents have to be send 5 days before through DHL?
I don’t know if my documentation I have to send through DHL or carry it directly to my interview.
Register ion the usvisa-info site – it’s a courier service. You don’t need an appointment through that service, just an account.
Contact the embassy by email. Ask them if they want documents sent in advance. Do what they say. If they don’t say anything, take the printed email to the interview.
Why would a DV winner.need an affidavit of Support? I know winners from Nairobi who were never asked for it. They ask only of where you are going to stay. Has anyone from Nairobi been asked for a sponsor?
Hi, I have to have been selected further processing for 2017. The problem I am having now when I was in secondary school I used my surname and first name which is on my secondary school certificate with my picture. But when I travelled to the UK for tertiary I included my middle name on my application forms to tally with my passport. Now I am due to go for interview my secondary school certificate has the 2 names with my picture without my middle name what can I do. The winning applicant name has all the 3 names
OK that would not be a surprise. An affidavit in Ghana (where fraud levels are high) is pretty much worthless. The interview process itself is just as convincing (and legally powerful).
Hi, I have been selected and my interview date is in February 2017. Please I have all my document ready except a sponsor. My question is can this affect my chance as I don’t have a sponsor (petitioner).
My recommendation is always to put some preparation into showing how you will not become a public charge. That could be by staying with a family member, having significant savings or having an I-134 (sponsor). If you choose to have NONE of that, you are increasing your risk. That is up to you.
BritSimon
I think, till I have my been to the interview this page is where I will be sleeping.
I have read your “article” on “All about public charge, affidavit of support, I-134” (There are several African countries where the “host” system serves to satisfy the requirements.). Now i have somebody in US who will be hosting me and my family if I should sail thru with the interview (I have indicated this host on the DS-260). Please do I still need him to send an “affidavit of support”. If YES and the host is not ready to send me his “affidavit of support”, can I fall on another relative who is ever ready to assist me with that (“affidavit of support”). Please tell how to go about it.
Thanks.
Whether they accept a host or not depends on which embassy. They will be interested in how you know the host. AI-134 is an alternative. Get one if you want to be safer.

June 13, 2016 at 11:28

If both dates are before the DV lottery win, it doesn’t matter which date you choose. But, if the date is important, I would use the customary date.

She also attached another 11 pages forms of W2 etc, all on taxes. I noticed that the information (figures total) is more than required in poverty form I-864p. She promised to fill I-134 and mail to me.
Please are these documents enough for tender at the interview?
Thank you

Hello Brit in the second letter we are not told of the documents to present during the interview. How do we check on the documents needed as I’m told by someone from the 2016 batch that he was not asked for an affidavit of support. I am a little bit confused. Please help.

You may need someone to support you.

Hi Brit My housband and I won the DV 2017. Within 7 weeks after we submitted our Ds260 he died and he was the principal applicant. In this case what do I do? Is there any chance for me
November 7, 2016 at 23:45
No, I’m sorry to say that you cannot process your case as you “derived” benefit though his selection.

Hello Brit,
I am from LPZ – Bolivia and my interview will be in February 2017.
What would be your advice?
Thanks.

January 1, 2017 at 15:27
Yes, it has happened, although typically they satisfy the requirement by establishing the relationship to the host.

There is nothing to “do”. The education documents just need to be shown as yours.
January 4, 2017 at 18:59
I hear the Embassy doesn’t accept affidavit any more
January 4, 2017 at 19:09
Which embassy? Which type of affidavit?
January 4, 2017 at 19:47
American Embassy in Ghana. To swear an affidavit to include a middle name for the secondary school certificate
January 4, 2017 at 21:05
OK that would not be a surprise.

January 3, 2017 at 20:09
My recommendation is always to put some preparation into showing how you will not become a public charge. That could be by staying with a family member, having significant savings or having an I-134 (sponsor). If you choose to have NONE of that, you are increasing your risk. That is up to you.
January 3, 2017 at 21:17
Hi Brit,
Please is it late to look for a sponsor now as my interview is in February.
January 3, 2017 at 21:34
Of course it is not too late. You may be asked about a sponsor at the interview. You don’t have to provide details prior to the interview.
