People are now receiving their 2NLs for September interviews, it will take a few hours – and possibly even a couple of days before all have gone out.
The email itself has no useful information. It simply tells you to check the ESC site for the interview details. Some people that receive the email will find the ESC site is not ready, those people should try again after a few hours. Also, some people find the email itself goes to a trash or spam folder or somehow miss it. So – if you think you may have been scheduled but missed your email, you can check the ESC site, just in case. The 1NL (you have been selected letter) is replaced by a new letter which gives the appointment details.
These interviews are the final batch of 2016. If any DV2016 winner does not get their 2NL within a day or two they need to contact KCC asap and check why they have not been scheduled.
July 21, 2016 at 19:56
Thank you for the information. If I understand correctly, this is not related to people who chose to go through AOS process. Correct? Thank you.
July 21, 2016 at 20:06
Correct.
July 21, 2016 at 19:57
Hi if somebody get his interview on 25september and he will still have the chance to get his visa if yes what about if they put him on ap till after 30september…
July 21, 2016 at 20:05
25th September is OK – but if the case goes on AP that is highly risky as the case CANNOT be approved after Sept 30.
July 21, 2016 at 20:12
Thanks for the timely update Simon.
July 21, 2016 at 20:24
Hi
Thank you simon for the help you gave me to understand the DVlottery and to get through it . I got my interview today in tunis, tunisia . The interviewer gave me a red ticket and told to come back next Wednesday to get my passport . The odd thing was he only asked me where are you going? He didn’t see the form i-134 nor asked if i have a sponsor or not . I don’t know if my case is approved or not . Can you explain ? Thank you again
July 21, 2016 at 21:27
It sounds like you were approved.
July 29, 2016 at 07:52
hi brother im from tunisia too can i contact you in your email
July 21, 2016 at 20:52
Hello Mr Simon ,
Thank u for great extra effort done by u , i m on AP since 140 days so my medical record will expire in next two weeks , can I renew the medical records as a back up that may they ask me , to not get extra delay in appointment of new medical record ? Or should be asked from embassy first ?
July 21, 2016 at 21:26
You can renew it – but of course that is taking a risk with the fees for the medical.
July 21, 2016 at 21:44
I do Really appreciate your updates Mr.Simon.
July 21, 2016 at 22:31
I m not worry about the fees , but affraid that action may annoy them ? Just may they think i introduce in their job and i renew the medical record by myself …
July 22, 2016 at 04:04
BritSimon hi
I still have not received any response on my question pliz…Am a beneficiary and the Applicant aready left me stranded having filed for Annulment papers. Do i still stand a chance for a Visa?
July 22, 2016 at 04:18
I don’t advise on non DV lottery cases.
July 22, 2016 at 05:02
Hi Brit,
Thank you for this blog.
Nepal went current for DV 2016. It does mean that there were quite a few visa rejection unlike previous years. Do you have any information or cases that caused the visa denials in Nepal for 2016.
July 22, 2016 at 13:49
It isn’t really unusual. There were a lower number of selectees than previous years. Stop overthinking!
July 22, 2016 at 09:47
Hi Brit and Everyone,
I received 2NL today.
The processing was kinda fast. My number is in the 15,000s and I submitted my DS260 on July 6, 2016.
I pray for a successful interview.
July 22, 2016 at 13:46
Wow, that was fast!
August 9, 2016 at 19:14
Hi Jadden, I was just wondering when was your interview arranged for? I am just asking because I submitted my DS260 quite late (end of July) and hopefully it will work similarly fast for me too. I hope your interview went well!
July 22, 2016 at 10:17
Hi Brit,
I was on AP and just received an appointment letter but my status is reading “refused”, while I have not appeared on my second appointment. What could be the cause?
July 22, 2016 at 13:45
It sounds like they have refused your case. I don’t know the cause.
July 22, 2016 at 14:26
Hi Simon
I have been a silent follower of this blog. finally my status reads ‘Issued’ Did my interview on 28th June and I was put on AP to provide additional documentations. I didn’t expect the AP to clear that fast since my interview was at almost the end of the month. Thanks for the guidance you have provided me and my family throughout 1+years of waiting. Cheers!
July 22, 2016 at 14:31
AP for missing documents is usually much faster than AP for background checks. Congratulations!
July 22, 2016 at 16:34
i think i was not selected because up to date they keep telling me i have not been selected yet. please do that conclude it all that i wasn’t selected or something, thanks please
July 22, 2016 at 22:10
If it says not selected – it means not selected.
July 23, 2016 at 00:02
Hi brit, may i correct a mistake about my name on my DS the interview day?
July 23, 2016 at 02:55
It is FAR better to do it prior to the interview. Doing it at the interview creates risk.
July 30, 2016 at 20:15
in fact,my sponsor put a hyphen between my middle name and my last name.which is not true
July 23, 2016 at 08:41
Hello Brit,
I had my interview on the 5th of May and was put on AP because I mentioned a new sponsor different from the one on the DS 260 form..the Consular Officer gave me two news and one was dat he was definitely going to give me the visa whiles the other was dat he will place me on AP…it’s getting to 3months now and am anxious but I still receive emails from them like,
Dear Hannah Lebbie,
Thank you for your email dated July 05, 2016 regarding your immigrant visa application.
At this time, the case is still undergoing administrative processing. While we try to complete our cases within 30 days, it is not unusual for them to take 90 days or more. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a time frame as to when the administrative processing will be complete. Please know that we are aware of your concerns and are working on the case. Once the processing is complete, we will contact you with instructions on how to proceed.
We hope this information is helpful to you. If you have further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Consular Section
U.S. Embassy
Freetown, Sierra Leone
I want to know your opinion sir!
July 23, 2016 at 14:06
My opinion is the same as in any AP case. I know it is frustrating – but all you can do is wait.
July 23, 2016 at 13:41
Hello Sir, may lack the necessary vaccinations to affect visa
July 23, 2016 at 14:03
When you have the medical before the interview, you will be given any missing vaccinations.
July 23, 2016 at 14:33
Hi brit sir
I fill ds260 form but my wife surnam at birth is xxx and I fill according to citizenship yyyy because in our country usually women surnames are changed after marriage. So I need to correct it during interview time as my case is already schedue an appointment.hoping for Best suggestion
July 23, 2016 at 15:07
The DS260 has sections for previous names – so your DS260 should have old and new versions of the name.
July 23, 2016 at 15:24

July 23, 2016 at 21:19

July 23, 2016 at 15:29
i

July 23, 2016 at 21:19
I honestly don’t think America will elect such an ignorant fool to be president. I certainly hope not.
July 23, 2016 at 21:45
Hello Brit,
I am now preparing for my interview in August and I have a small problem.
When I applied for a police clearance certificate, it was realized my birth certificate is not legal and I was advised to make a new one.
I just want to find out if getting a new birth certificate will affect me in any way ? Or should u take a copy of the old one plus the new one and explain to them ?
Kind regards
July 24, 2016 at 15:45
Get a new one and take both to the interview. Present the new one and ONLY IF ASKED, present the old one.
July 24, 2016 at 12:36
Hi sir. My wife and I are schedule for August 8, 2016 interview and she is the principal applicant. But she is not well. We have not done medical yet. Can we write the embassy to extend the interview date to September 20.
July 24, 2016 at 15:36
That would be VERY risky – but it is your choice. They may not agree, and there is a risk that the rescheduling will cause problems that could mean you lose your visa.
July 25, 2016 at 13:46
Hi Brit, I had a successful interview last week. thank you very much for your endless help and may God bless you.
July 25, 2016 at 14:30
Awesome!
July 25, 2016 at 17:45
Please if you don’t mind,
why don’t you tell us about ur interview ??
July 25, 2016 at 15:01
Pls I have still not receive my 2NL for September interview what do I do,thanks
July 25, 2016 at 15:10
Contact KCC asap.
July 25, 2016 at 16:32
Hi Simon had my interview Asia srilanka on march 3rd. AP since then for Sponsor 1-134 form. Finally I got it and waiting for his tax report will be received end of this month. so I will be scanning them to embassy on august 1st. The issue is I did my medicals on 16th FEB – Do you think this will cause as issue. What is the expiry period for medicals ? in my case
July 25, 2016 at 19:10
The expiry for medicals is 6 months. So – the embassy will probably insist on you repeating the medicals.
July 25, 2016 at 19:11
I should add that the visa expiry will be based on the medical expiry, so that is why you will need a new medical.
July 26, 2016 at 16:09
May I please know what are the questions asked at the visa interview, I’m selected Sri Lankan for next year
July 25, 2016 at 19:33
so Simon at the time I submit my sponsor forms should I email them as well to get confirmation that medical needs to be done. or can I do it without their permission?
July 25, 2016 at 23:01
Do it only when they tell you.
July 25, 2016 at 19:36
Hi sir
I sent my ds260 form on june 20,2016 but i didnt recieve any email from kcc,do i wait or i contact kcc?
July 25, 2016 at 23:00
If you are DV2016, contact KCC. If you are DV2017, it is normal you have not been scheduled yet.
July 26, 2016 at 00:02
Hi brit , i want to ask you if you can tell us some reassons (what you think ) why kcc doesnt send 2nl to some persons , i have heard many people that havent recived 2nl . Thank you
July 26, 2016 at 00:27
It is very rare – and usually only people that sent in their DS260 late.
July 26, 2016 at 06:02
Hi Brit I contacted KCC and they said to look forward for the 2NL,what do you think, thanks
July 26, 2016 at 11:37
I think you should wait…
July 26, 2016 at 07:41
Hello Brit, can someone’s case who was approved and scheduled for visa pick up remain at AP? I was approved and supposed to pick visa on Thursday but just checked now and saw my status was up dated yesterday to AP. What do u think is happening or may possibly happen b4 my Thursday pick up date?
July 26, 2016 at 11:34
It’s quite common to see AP for a couple of days before issued.
July 26, 2016 at 14:01
Thank. I feel a little relieved!
July 26, 2016 at 11:52
Hello good morning Brit,
I am dv 2017 winner and I wanted to submit my application but during the first entry my date of birth was wrongly type as 1986 instead of 1990. Please what should I do now. should I do the affidavit to support. Please help me.
July 26, 2016 at 12:32
There is a risk of denial for the mistake. Correcting the mistake on the DS260 is essential.
July 27, 2016 at 08:49
Adwoa email me and let have a chat..I can see u are from ghana..so am I. [email protected]
July 26, 2016 at 13:18
Hi Brit.my visa interview is scheduled for August 2nd 2016. I wish to get clarified over an issue. In my ds260 I gave addresses from Indiana state from where to collect my greencard. Is it a must to have entry and reside in the same state(Indiana)?
July 26, 2016 at 13:38
NO
July 26, 2016 at 14:30
Hi simon
When i first submited thé ds260 i had put that i had. À. Master degree than i corrected it on februzry into zdvanced degree it s still à. Bac +5 but the title is engineer degree.
Can i have a problèm on the interview ?
July 26, 2016 at 14:35
That should be OK
July 26, 2016 at 14:55
I also changed the date of obtention septembre instead of décembre
July 26, 2016 at 20:54
Can you answer me please
July 26, 2016 at 15:31
Hi Brit. I wish to get assisted. I wish to understand if the address provided for in form DS 260 mean the same thing as sponsor; that is, where one is expected to reside and be hosted. The person I filled as contact address is not the same I wish to sponsor me. Can this bring any problem? Thanks
July 26, 2016 at 17:30
It depends on the embassy/CO. Some embassies recognize the importance of the host, others still expect financial proof (such as an I-134 from a sponsor). If you have someone willing to complete the I-134 for you, that would be safest.
July 26, 2016 at 16:52
hi dear brit please as i told you before i had my interview on june 14th and i am still waiting for the consulate call and my status still shows ready, anyway i just want to ask you if for example i got my university diploma should i e-mail the consulate and tell them about it or it’s not important anymore !! because i got my diploma last week and i told them that i am a still stadying at the university ! thank you my dear(i’m from morocco)
July 26, 2016 at 17:26
I don’t know whether they are waiting for your education proof or not.
July 26, 2016 at 17:59
Dear britsimon,
My interview next week and I have question please,
Did the certify copy of high school with all original stamp and stamp from foreign affairs is ok please as I don’t have the original one with many thanks…
July 26, 2016 at 20:27
That is specific to the embassy, but generally a certified replacement document is OK.
July 26, 2016 at 23:37
Hello Simon,
I got the I-134 today, on question 2 : ” I am . . . years old …..” it’s empty he didn”t write anything there.
And questions 9 and 10 also empty he didn’t write any name and didn’t write None.
I have my Interview this Monday in Algeria, what should I do ?
July 27, 2016 at 01:06
Try and get a better version before Monday…. if not – present what you have IF ASKED.
July 27, 2016 at 07:13

July 27, 2016 at 07:30
Hello brit, we are 6 month in AP and now the US addreess that we had filled out in ds260 hase changed .is it necessary to say it to the embassy now? Does it effect our ap process? Thanks
July 27, 2016 at 14:40
Yes, contact the embassy.
July 30, 2016 at 16:39
Dear brit,to change the address may it take longer time in Ap check, to chech the new address too? Or it doesnt affect the ap process?
July 31, 2016 at 03:48
No it will not extend the AP.
July 27, 2016 at 11:29
Hae Brit am a DV 2016 winner , I have an interview on Tuesday nxt week and I realized I made a grt mistake I wrote I had been denied a visa on DS 260 due to financial problems. What made me to write so is because my sponser failed to sponser me and canceled my interview so I thought cancellation of the interview meant visa denial which is nt coz I was not interviewed.can this result to my visa denial nxt week?
July 27, 2016 at 14:34
No
July 27, 2016 at 19:17
hi Brit…may GOD continue to bless u as u bless dv winners with ur explanations.I am a 2016 dv winner my interview is on august 30th.My worries are these ,i am planning to go alone by september and my family will follow me by november by GOD’s GRACE.(1)When my family(my wife and my-4-months old daughter) will be about to travel, will it be obligatory for me to go back to my country and bring them or i must not be there?(2)since they will be travelling later is it advisable to apply for the ssn and green cards for all of us back in my country(cameroon) before i travel or the usa government does not permit that. Thanks in advance for ur reply.
July 27, 2016 at 19:44
You can enter first. They can follow without you. You cannot apply for their SSNs etc without them having activated their status (by initial entry to the USA).
July 28, 2016 at 00:31
Hello Simon,
Are I-134 and 1040 anough ?
July 28, 2016 at 01:03
You need photo ID as well, and possibly recent payslips/W2
July 28, 2016 at 05:59
Hi Brist,
I have few more days for my interview and I once told you that I have a problem with my date of birth, instead of sept. 21,1968 those boys at internet cafe put sept. 10,1979. And to be honest there is noway i will tell you that I am 1979 born and you believe it. I look older then 1979 born. I am pushing to my 50s. I no longer in my 30s. And to be frank with you all of my documents is bearing my actual age. Should I attend the interview or not.
July 28, 2016 at 06:17
Where is your interview? Ghana?
July 28, 2016 at 10:56
@britsimon she was dv 2016 applicant who checked very late in may 2016. She called and was told she submitted her forms later she should wait till september.her case no. was so good if only she checked in time for her results.but above comments herein i have seen someone say they submitted in july and have gotten 2nd notification letter already.
July 30, 2016 at 12:02
i m set for an interview on 5th August , i have done my medical and IOM has provided me a sealed CD and letter so is it that , i have passed my medical examination?
2nd how many copies do i make for the documentations needed at my interview ? can i make 1 fro each and every document?
July 30, 2016 at 13:50
I don’t know whether you “passed” your medical. The report is provided either way.
Copy each document as described in the instructions.
July 30, 2016 at 12:13

July 30, 2016 at 12:14
Hello Simon
I submitted my DS 260 in June 28/2016
and i got my confirmation letter.
Can you please tell me when i,m expected to be informed for interview .
Thank you.
July 30, 2016 at 13:48
It depends on your case number. (with year and region)
July 30, 2016 at 23:49
Hi,brit! Please I’ll like to know if after the medical and you have health problem. Is it the pinal physician who informs you about your problem or you’ll be inform at the time of your interview by the co?
July 31, 2016 at 03:43
It depends. If the problem is serious any doctor will want to inform you. However, the main purpose of the medical is to produce the report. Search my site fire “diseases” to see which diseases are a problem.
July 30, 2016 at 23:52
Hi simon,
On the DS-1810, what should I write on Title ? at the bottom of the paper.
July 30, 2016 at 23:54
And what does this mean ?
This form should be printed on the reverse side in the vernacular of the country from which
the alien is leaving. Place the original in the alien’s INS file. Give a copy to the alien.
July 31, 2016 at 03:42
I don’t know about that form. It should be straightforward!
July 31, 2016 at 04:25
Hey Simon, I met a hit whose CN is 135 asia 2017, but he has not mentioned his passport number cause he had not made it then and says he’ll put it at the interview and not re-open his ds-260 again, will be be affected at the interview or reopening will delay his 2nl cause his 2nl may come in few week..
July 31, 2016 at 16:21
He should add it now.
July 31, 2016 at 15:08
hi brit,my name is D, K T Y E (I’ve only writen the begining) but my sponsor made a mistake. he put a hyphen betwen Y and E. is it a problem if i correct that the interview day?on my 2NLs their only write D,K T. thank you
July 31, 2016 at 16:15
Not a problem.
