It should be OK
June 24, 2016 at 03:40
Hi Simon;
I have submitted my DS260 already, and I found a mistake on previous address (Q. Have you lived anywhere other than this address since the age of sixteen?
My answer YES, and I filled in address(1) I put my village name , I forgot to put like Commune name. you can see in example below:
Address(1): ABC Village
Address(2) :
City :ABC City
State/ Province: ABC
What do you think? Do I need to unlock the form and change address(1) to more detail?
Address(1) ABC village, ABC Commune..
Thanks again simon

It’s not important.

HELLO BRIT. I HAVE SOME DIFFICULTIES THAT I NEED SOME CLARIFICATIONS ON.
1. MY NAME IS IN THE FORM JOHN BEN-AGGREY, WHICH IS A COMPOUND NAME, BUT ON SOME OF MY CERTIFICATE THE HYPHEN WAS MISTAKENLY REMOVED BUT THEY ALL BEAR MY PHOTOGRAPH . BUT MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND PASSPORT BEARS THE WRITE NAME.
QUEST. CAN I HAVE AN AFFIDAVIT TO PROVE THAT THOSE ARE MY DOCUMENTS? OR I SHOULD BE CONCERNED AT THE EMBASSY.
2. I COMPLETED MY DS 260 TODAY BUT COULD NOT ENTER THE HYPHEN. BUT I WAS TOLD THAT’S HOW THE SYSTEM IS PROGRAMMED. IS THAT TRUE?
CAN I DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?
WAITING FOR YOUR ANSWER. THANKS.
June 24, 2016 at 14:31
The question is whether Ben is part of your surname or is in fact a middle name.
1. If they don’t trust you an affidavit is simply another document they don’t trust.
2. I think so.

Dear simon, i was dv 2015 winner was interviewed april 11,2016. My concern is immediately after the interview i received email from the embassy requiring me to submit documents of people i am not related to or have knowledge of. I asked my attorney to answer and with the impression that he did, it turned out he didnt answer it. It has been two months since my interview and my status remained AP , only upon follow up with my lawyer did he answer the embassy which was june 22. Whats the chances of still getting a visa? Will the delay cause a denial ? But also the email from embassy said that you have one year to comply.
June 24, 2016 at 00:28
Your case must complete by September 30. AP is unpredictable, and I don’t know what your lawyer has done but most lawyers don’t understand DV cases too well – so be careful with your lawyer.
June 23, 2016 at 20:29
Hi Simon,
I have a couple questions and would like to get your idea on this.
I’ve been selected for dv2017 with 45xx case number. I’ve not completed the year 12 or GCE A/L. I’ve took the path after year 10 to start a diploma in computer science and moved my way with professional qualifications.
Now I work as IT Director for a large organisation in Australia with 15 years experience in the field and professional achievements and fellowships of Computer societies. And I’ve checked the IT manager with the zone 4 and SVP 7-8.
Should I utilize my work experience as the key approach? what’s your thoughts about this?
Also, accidentally my child’s first and middle name got mixed up at the DV lottery application. Should I correct it at the DV-260 application? will this cause issues?
My location for the interview is Sydney Australia.
June 23, 2016 at 23:19
Yes – you will need to qualify under work experience.
https://britsimonsays.com/education-or-work-experience-qualifying-for-the-dv-lottery/
Correct the name.
June 24, 2016 at 00:11
Thanks Simon,
Do I have a strong case? What are the success ratio on work experience?
June 23, 2016 at 18:13
Hi mr Brit
i have a difficult question
at first my visa approved and the my location is Djibouti
but the problem is
when i was filling ds260 i sent only my form because at first i wrote that i am a single
then at the interview we go there me ,my wife and my son(7days old boy)
then they approved my visa but the told me to fill my wife and son’s ds260 again and also they told me to take the medical exam and collect their passport as well and birth certificate
so i can got every document but the question is i can not request unlock because all ready semi -processed so
where can i fill the ds260 of my wife and son ?
June 23, 2016 at 18:17
You should ask the embassy that. I don’t know how the embassy will handle it.
June 23, 2016 at 16:59
Hi simon
After 17day of AP today my Status changes into Ready After same hours backs to AP is it a normal
June 23, 2016 at 17:29

June 23, 2016 at 07:27
Hey Simon my interview is due today at the embassy in Monrovia but I want to ask this my sponsor who gave me the affidavit of support is not in the US currently he is in Liberia here on an emergency business, will this be a problem? Because some people say the CO will call the cell number on the affidavit to confirm ? What can say because his US number on the affidavit is unavailable
June 23, 2016 at 13:44
They don’t normally phone the supporter.
June 23, 2016 at 06:30

June 23, 2016 at 00:05
Hello Simon
Again
I’m a winner for 2017 DV lottery ,I have different between my passport and birth certificate, I issued my passport in 2006 the birthday 30jan and i do using it so far and after I knew I’m won the lottery I review my birth certificate I found the date 13jan same year , meaning that there are 17days difference between my passport and birth certificate I want to correct my passport,I applied for lottery by 30jan , but there’s problems if I will apply for police clearance they will write the date of my first passport 30 Jan , can the co base on that to deny my visa?
I didn’t fill the DS260 form yet.
June 23, 2016 at 00:38
Some COs would be concerned at that discrepancy – some would not. The only way to be sure is to have the interview.
June 22, 2016 at 21:40
Hi,
Thx again for all the infos you give everyone.
I have another one for you if you can answer it of course, I just received my 2nl, in the letter they give a link to the dvselectee.state.gov web site from where I ve downloaded the documents list and I found the Affidavit of support I-864 (I’ve read you post about the two type of forms by the way), but when I go to the Moroccan us embassy web site, I check for the list but they don’t mention the affidavit of support, I couldn’t get an answer from them by mail (the answer was just saying that they have a lot of mails and they can not answer to everyone, I suspect it’s an automated mail lol ), so can you give me an advise, or maybe someone else from Morocco had the same problem and was able to solve it.
Thx again and have a nice day.
June 22, 2016 at 23:26
Get an I-134
June 22, 2016 at 21:22
Hello Simon,
My wife finally got the 2NL for August the 1st. For me , my name is not mentioned in the 2NL.
A friend of mine got his wife’s letter where his name is mentioned.
My wife is the winner and we got married after she submitted the DS-260. In April 2016 we asked to unlock her DS-260 which we had with no problem and she changed her marital status to “Married” and she added my information. I also submitted my DS-260 which was accepted and validated.
On her 2NL, it is only mentioned” You and all your family members who wish to apply for a Diversity Visa must appear at the appointment date and time for your interview”
My question is:
1- Is it the way that it should be?
2- Or, my name needs to be mentioned on the 2NL?
3- Or, Am I going to receive my 2NL shortly?
Please clarify and thanks a lot
Best Regards
June 22, 2016 at 21:59
Also forgot to mention that at the bottom of the 2NL: it is written:
Case Number: my wife’s case number
Applicant Name: my wife’s name
Beneficiaries: None????
Hope this is normal 🙂

Interview on 10 August. Scheduled Medical on 13 July. Do you think it is too late or do you think I should go asap in case there are something which may require 2 – 3 months (ie vaccines course which may take a month or so) etc to complete for my medical? I was trying to ensure i stretch my 6 months flight to US until Jan 2017.
June 22, 2016 at 21:12
I would say it is almost too early, not too late.
For the vaccinations they realize that some shots nee subsequent boosters, but the medical will pass based on starting that course of shots.
The exception to that is TB if you were diagnosed with that. The treatment for TB takes months, and will cause ineligibility during the treatment, but in your case that would not be possible to solve with a faster medical since there is already not enough time to clear up TB before September 30.
June 22, 2016 at 21:23
I can change the date. I know it is trivial to ask. How many weeks before should I have the medical? I want to stretch out my 6 months as far as possible. London medical and interview.
June 22, 2016 at 23:39
Typically 2 weeks before is plenty of time.
June 22, 2016 at 18:36
Hello Brit,
Once again let me thanks you for everything. My wife and me got our visa on June 21. Valid from June 15 to Nov 30.but my understanding from some post on this site is that once get the visa we must arrive in the US before September 30,it this correct?
June 22, 2016 at 19:33
No, you have until the date shown on the visa.
June 22, 2016 at 18:34
Absolutely. Thank you very much for your answers.
June 22, 2016 at 17:53
My status was showing AP for 2 months at the CEAC website. Now it shows READY. What dos this mean?
and
How come it shows ready and gives me instructions about the interview although I already attended my interview?
June 22, 2016 at 18:05
Don’t worry about the instructions. The ready status change is quite common when a case is ending AP and going to the next status (issued or refused). So – it probably means a decision has been made, and now they will have to try to allocate a visa. That period can last a few days but sometimes can last a few weeks – so be patient.
June 22, 2016 at 17:26
Hello, thank you for a very informative website. I am the main applicant and have my interview fast approaching, along with my husband and dependants.
I would like to know whether my husband’s conviction of driving without insurance would be detrimental to being eligible for a green card. Also, would the embassy accept grades transcrips for A-Levels as I don’t have the actual certificate?
Thank you for taking the time to read and answer.
June 22, 2016 at 17:30
The driving thing is no problem.
Most embassies will want more than transcripts.
June 22, 2016 at 17:45
Thank you. I better get on to requesting replacement certificates.
What about if it was more than 1 driving without insurance convictions?
On both occasions, he had really bad luck. (On the first, he was helping someone get out of a dangerous situation but he wasn’t insured on the car. He had to pay a fixed penalty fine and points added to his licence. On the second, his insurance was cancelled and he wasn’t aware. He believed he had a case and it went to court. He was fined and points added)
June 22, 2016 at 17:50
The “bad luck” won’t be a problem for the immigration process, but you should explain that he can avoid “bad luck” in the future by following the rules. FYI, being a Green Card holder is like being on a probation period. So – if he continues to have “bad luck” in the USA it could affect his ability to become a US citizen.
June 22, 2016 at 17:08
Good day Simon.after waiting for over a year i am finally going to be interviewed in August,My interview scheduled in Abu Dhabi but i live in Dubai it’s basically the same country U.A.E can i do my medical in Dubai or it should be in Abu Dhabi?,Thank you very much indeed
June 22, 2016 at 17:28
You have to use a physician approved by the embassy. A quick search on google shows this list….
http://abudhabi.usembassy.gov/medical_examination.html
June 22, 2016 at 18:40
sure Simon i will,so if it’s approved by the embassy there is no problem doing it in Dubai even if my Interview is in Abu Dhabi embassy right?
June 22, 2016 at 19:31
Right.
June 22, 2016 at 17:00
Hi BritSimon, That you for all your advice. My boyfriend has been selected for the 2017 lottery his case number landing around the middle of the OC numbers. We are not married, we plan to get married but I’m wondering how long roughly you think we have to do this. I have gone through your website thoroughly and I realise that we would need to get married and then unlock his DS260 (which he submitted yesterday) to add me on. I noticed that you can’t unlock the form if the interview has been scheduled and there is a period of time before the interview is scheduled when the form can’t be unlocked as it has already been processed. From your chart it looks like he might get an interview in December, or do you think it will be later than this? When would you suggest would be the safest time to get married?
June 22, 2016 at 17:04
Once the interview is scheduled it’s a pain to add at that point. So – the safest thing is to get married and unlock/resubmit WELL ahead of the perceived deadline. So – if you assume a December interview, those would be scheduled in October, so you should really plan to be married no later than mid September. Personally – I would do it earlier.
June 22, 2016 at 16:45
Brit,
2 questions if I may:
1) Added my newborn but didn’t have a passport so included the mothers passport details. By the time a passport was issued I was unable to reopen the DS260 as it had already become current. What do I do?
2) The residential address of where I intend to live (my brothers place) has changed since the time of my initial DS 260 and I overlooked changing it during the subsequent times that I unlocked. What now?
Thanks!
June 22, 2016 at 17:10
Discuss both points in the interview with the CO.
June 22, 2016 at 16:27
Hi, I have more than $10,000 in savings and work in UK with UK bank statement of more than £10,000. My interview is in London, Single applicant. From what I read, i don’t think i need affidavit of support however, different embassy may require different documents. Based on your experience for London interview, would my bank statement be enough to show that I have enough money or would I need affidavit of support.
June 22, 2016 at 17:11
It’s borderline – they may still ask for an I-134.
June 22, 2016 at 21:27
I forgot to tell you that I also own a flat with a mortgage. I will bring my deeds and mortgage along. With my UK Bank account of £10,000 and my flat, do you think they will still ask for an I-134? I know it is unpredictable. That said, I will try get one sorted asap. Thanks.
June 22, 2016 at 23:27
They won’t be interested in the deeds/mortgage – that is not a “liquid asset”. get an I-134. It’s best to over-prepare.
June 22, 2016 at 16:06
dear Simon. thank you for your site. My interview is 26 of July in Nairobi Kenya and my question is that which Form am I feel between Form I-134 and I-864 for Affidavit of support?.
Thanks You
June 22, 2016 at 17:15
DV cases cannot use I-864.
June 22, 2016 at 14:22
is it needed to unlock ds
June 22, 2016 at 14:11
on question 1:is there need a support document
June 22, 2016 at 14:15
No
June 22, 2016 at 13:48
Hello Simon,
Case number 2017AFXXX32XXX. How long can I delay filling the DS260 form and when I fill it how quick will the process kick off till departure. I have some unfinished business. incase I hurry up as scheduled, how soon can I came back to finish a few things and leave for good?. Bottom line is how do I delay the process without compromising on my slot?
Thanks and regards,
JP.
June 22, 2016 at 14:04
You can safely delay submission until around spring next year (May latest). Once you are approved you have 6 months to enter, and once you enter you can leave immediately for up to 12 months (2 years if you apply for a re-entry permit).
June 22, 2016 at 13:15
HEY Simon
am a dv winner 2017AF,i have few question i would like to ask at this point when your filling ds
*Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?
1.i have applied for us visa to going to study in 2011 and the consular told me that am not qualified to get a visa but returning my passport was still empty no denied .
2.i was a winner of dv af2015 but my case number was to high(66***) my interview hasn’t been scheduled,am i include on those one who have been refused a US VISA
3.someone who apply for dv lottery and isn’t selected is he include one those one who have been refused a visa
thx
June 22, 2016 at 13:26
1. Answer YES
2. Answer No
3. Answer No
June 22, 2016 at 09:48
Hi Brit,
I am really grateful for the work you are doing, but I didn’t manage to read your answer on the question I asked before you archived it all somewhere.
So I just wanted to clarify, I made my frst POE in April 2016 and left USA 2 weeks after, I would like to stay 1 to 2 years more in my home country. What is the best way to do it so I wouldnt loose my privilege to be green card holder thereafter.
Br,
Edgars
June 22, 2016 at 13:48
Since you have left already you must re-enter before you have been gone for over 12 months.
If you had applied for an I-131 you could have stayed out for 2 years – but that has to be processed while you are in the USA.
June 22, 2016 at 09:25
Dear Sir i have been selected for DV 2016 recieved my 2NL, i filled my D-260 with interview location Cairo Egypt, but later on requested to make it Djibout which is very close to Somalia where there is no US embassy, but my 2NL letter contaims and interview location of Riyad which never requested or filled with my form, now its not easy to go to Saudia Arabia, i contacted with the Embassy and asked the to transfer my case to Djibouti. My interview date is 15-8-2016. Do u think that can make it?
June 22, 2016 at 13:51
I can’t predict the outcome. You should contact BOTH embassies to arrange the transfer.
June 24, 2016 at 21:30
Hello dear
I just filled out Ds260 but did not submit yet.
I have two questions
1- when and how do I pay the fees and how much is it.
2- about form I130 when dose it have to be done before or after the interview and how much the fee is it for it.
Thank you
Best regards.
June 24, 2016 at 21:50
Scroll to the top of the page and read the DV lottery guide.
June 27, 2016 at 00:02
Dear Mr.Simon
Mr.Ahmed
It happened with my friend the same story and, we received this letter from the US embassy in Djibouti….
To Whom It Concerns,
All DV case transfer requests must go to National Visa Center and will be reassigned to Kuala Lumpur, which is the designated processing post for all Yemeni DV cases. Please do not send these requests to Djibouti. We will delete all future requests without responding.
Sincerely,
Consular Section
U.S. Embassy Djibouti
June 27, 2016 at 02:07
Hmmm. Seems pretty clear – if heavy handed.
June 22, 2016 at 09:03
Our case number is 2017AF000xxxx and my issue that we have a baby born in 15/09/2015 and we didn’t include him in the lottery application which started from 01/10/2015 because the baby was ill and it was difficult to take a photo for him at this timeand age also we though that we can add him later. Need your advice to proceed or to stop
June 22, 2016 at 13:54
Stop. You have ruined your chances and are certain to be disqualified. You would just be wasting your time and money to proceed, there is no acceptable excuse for this.
June 22, 2016 at 02:56
Dear Mr.Simon
My question is that some people say though I can produce a very good bank balance, it is necessary to produce a US sponsor. Is it true?
June 22, 2016 at 04:02
It depends on the embassy and on the amount of savings.
June 22, 2016 at 10:05
Hello dear brit am a winner 2017 and i just fill 260 form on june 18 and when they gonna send me an email for the interview day thanks
June 22, 2016 at 13:46
https://britsimonsays.com/dv2017-basic-questions/
June 22, 2016 at 15:12
I am from Sri Lanka and more than $20,000. Do you think I have to produce a US sponsor?
June 22, 2016 at 17:20
Usually that savings would be enough. Having a sponsor/I-134 may still be a good idea to be “over prepared”.
June 22, 2016 at 02:50
dear Simon. thank you for your site. our interview is 1st of july and health ccheck up is 6th of july. what if i inform the embassy about it in advance. will they delay our interview or refuse right away? or shall we just go to the interview without informing?
June 22, 2016 at 04:03
The medical should have been set before the interview, but in any case attend the appointment and follow up with the medical.
June 21, 2016 at 23:48
Hi .
I won 2016 lottery and my case number is 2016AS2***. our interview was in Abu Dhabi and i took visa and my husband included Administrative process and now it’s took more than 7 month and I had to came USA because my visa expiration .
during this period my husband and I had 7 updates in site ceac.state.gov
but recently in 15 Jun we had update and after that update my husband’s its text had some change for example :
Site displayed the text as follows:
it will be processed and mailed or available within two business days
but after 4 day we had another update in 19 Jun but this time my husband’s its text The text is returned to its original state
Site displays the text as follows:
it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days.
i’m so worry because i don’t know what’s happen.
at the firs time in Jun 15 when I see sit ceac i think my husband will be clear but after 19 Jun update i’m so upset
i want to know :
Is there any a connection between OR and be clear in site ceac.state.gov?
is it necessary i send mail to embassy for these changes?
can you guide me.
June 22, 2016 at 01:07
Ignore CEAC.
Write to the embassy if you like….
June 22, 2016 at 02:01
excuse me .
but my question is :
do you know there is a connection between OR in site ceac and clearance ?
because when i ask anybody that be clear all of then told me if the / in site ceac change to OR it’s means you want to be clear ..
June 22, 2016 at 04:04
I don’t understand
June 21, 2016 at 22:51
Hello Mr.BritSimon!
I have two questions…
1.In my DS260 I gave an adress of a friend, but he is planning to move in September. Will I have to unlock the DS260 then and change the adress or I can change it on the interview? Will unlocking in September cause a delay on my interview since my case number is 2017EU20xxx ?
2.After I send the unlocking request to Kentucky how will I know it is unlocked? Should I be checking every day or they will send me an e-mail?
Thank you for your support!
June 22, 2016 at 01:08
1. Unlock. It won’t cause delay.
2. They send an email.
June 22, 2016 at 15:43
Thank you Mr.BritSimon! Two more questions…
1.If I unlock the DS now cause I have something to change, will it be better to write another address in US since I have another friend there, or should I wait my friend I’ll be traveling to to move and then unlock it again?
2.I finished an elementary school ( 8 years ) , then a secondary school ( 4 years ) and then an University ( 4 years ).
The question is: My secondary school was Electro-Technical but we studied from books and lasted 4 years. Does this mean in US this secondary is counted as a Vocational one and am I qualified with my education?
Thank you and best wishes
June 23, 2016 at 02:31
Mr.BritSimon can you please answer my last two questions?
Thank you
June 23, 2016 at 02:53
1. Whatever you think is best.
2. I can’t say with certainty – the CO will decide.
June 21, 2016 at 17:34
Hello Brit,
Just received my 2NL for August 18th interview! I had added my newborn to my entry just a day before the visa bulletin was released, subsequently on CEAC it shows that the application was completed and she has been successfully added however on the 2NL she doesn’t appear as a beneficiary. What might be the issue or rather what am I to do now?
Thanks a ton for your help. You’ve been awesome. God bless.
June 21, 2016 at 17:46
That is normal, added derivatives rarely make it onto the 2NL. In a few days check your case in CEAC data to see if the correct numbers are there. It will show “in transit” for a few days, but later will show “ready”
https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
June 21, 2016 at 18:51
My case number doesn’t seem to be accepted under the IV category. The format also seems to be different from what we have. Any ideas?
June 21, 2016 at 19:13
Take out the leading zeros.
So – 2016AF000012345 is entered as 2016AF12345

Hi Simon,
I read somewhere about receiving green card after entering the country, but couldnot navigate there.
I arrived to US two months ago via Dubai. I have not received the green card yet. What could be possible reasons for the delay. Some of my friends have already received their card in weeks of arriving here through different port other than Dubai.
How could I make an enquiry about it. And I have already paid the immigration fee as well
Thanks

2 to 3 months wait is not unusual.

Dear Simon,
Could you please send Abu Dhabi file for 2016’s Lottery winner?
Yours sincerely,
June 21, 2016 at 16:38
What do you mean?
June 21, 2016 at 16:02
Hello Simon,
My wife is the winner of 2016 DV lottery, our friends in the US want to complete the I-134 for us. On the instructions on how to fill the form, it says ” if you are sponsoring more than one alien, you must submit a separate form I-134 for each alien”
Our friends are confused, do we need one for me and the wife, or just one completing the spouse information on the question 3.
Best regards

One for the main selectee, and that covers all derivatives.

Thanks Mr Simon. i just heard about the when someone will be clear in CEAC mailed/available change to mailed or available as issued numbers. I believe AP is lessons of patience, so

June 21, 2016 at 12:01
Hi brit..
Im à winner of 2017..and i have ablittle problem.
The name on my voters ID is eg..”Ken Perro Shun “but on all my documents the name. is only “Ken Perro”.
1..do i need to include the SHUN at the other names section on the ds-260f form? since the voter ID is not part of the document si will be presenting?
2..since there is à possibility of everyone being interviewed for 2016/2017 ;can submitt my form around septembre with à case no. às low 2017AF000012**?
June 21, 2016 at 15:07
1. Your name should match your birth cert and passport.
2. Yes – that will delay the process but the delay won’t matter.
June 21, 2016 at 15:08
Simple be patient.

I take my Interview jun2 and i Approved successful and gave me Congar paper wan i Cheak my Status Administrative Processing( if the person is under Administrative Processing that means 90% refused ) Before September i did not get answer mean
June 21, 2016 at 15:10
Many cases show AP for a day or two after approval in the interview -0 the case then shows issued a few days later.
AP is NOT 90% refused – that is nonsense.

Hi Simon,
Does the AF region now receive significantly less selectees? For e.g in my country Mauritius we used to get around 50 people each year, for dv-2017 it received only 9 people. What are the factors for this decrease?
June 21, 2016 at 03:59
Yes, each region including AF has been reduced.

Thank you. I have another question. On my lottery form, I entered my employment history but on my DS260 form, I said no to the question which asked if I was previously employed because i read that i can either use education or work experience as my qualification but not both. Is this a big problem? If yes, should i unlock my form and edit it?
June 21, 2016 at 04:00
Unlock aand make it accurate. Don’t try to work around the questions, just answer with full honesty.

Hello Simon,
We won lottery 2016 and my wife is main applicant
We had interview in Abu Dhabi in November, my wife took her visa and now she is in USA. AND I’m in AP more than 7 months
I had some updates in CEAS in June, in order June 10, June 15, June 19
In June 15: mailed/available became to mail or available and in June 19 convert to mailed/available again.
My question is what did those update mean? Is it good Sign or not?
June 20, 2016 at 21:29
I don’t know what those updates mean.
November 19, 2018 at 09:16
Hello, I know it’s been a long time but this just happened to me as well

Hello Brit, thanks for the tremendous job you are doing.
In Cameroon, the name order on birth certificates is ABC
On the DV entrant form, the order provided was: Last/Family Name, First Name and Middle Name.
I filled Last/Family Name as: C, First Name as: A and Middle name as B. The Result on the confirmation notice is: C, AB. I understand this order is ok.
On the DS 206 form, we are requested to fill it out in this manner: Surname then Given names.
I filled the form in this manner: Surname: A and Given names BC. The result is A, BC. Please, kindly note that on the DS206 Form, I followed the order in the passport.
Now, I notice the difference in the order of names and following from previous answers you provided here, Cameroon should be a high risk zone. I will be glad if you advise on the order I should adopt.
Should I follow what is on the passport or I respect the intial order used during the DV entrant. I understand the CO may think I was trying to defraud the check system.
Secondly, my email was hacked so I changed the email can the CO find any fault with this?
June 20, 2016 at 17:38
Regardless of the order of particular forms, you *must* know whether C on your birth cert is your lastname (sometimes called family or surname). In most countries siblings would share the same lastname, and have individual first and middle names. That, frankly, is very clear – and to try and represent that as confusing to a CO would be obviously suspicious.
Later in life (after the birth cert) people get passports, and generally the names on the passports match – again – REGARDLESS of the order that names are printed in (which is country specific formatting of the passport).
So your eDV and DS260 should match that. If it does not match, there could be some suspicion created and creating some “confusion” about that would simply add to the suspicion.
Changing the email could add to the suspicion if it appears you are trying to cover up a name discrepancy.

Hello Brit, great blog, very informative, thank you for doing this. I’d appreciate your opinion or (very) educated guess regarding the probability of a October Interview if I have a very low CN, SA <100 and I submitted the sd-260 on may 22. I already read the blog post about this, and undertand that I am probably on the limit between october and novemberr but would still greatly appreciate your input. Thank you. Lili
