Hello Mr Brit!!
I am a dv 2017 and here is my case 2017AF00029****
While I submitted in the lottery last year ,I used the information found on my ID and even on my every legal docs ,but when I submitted for passport, the office of imagination in my country found a mismatch in my DOB( 2nd August 1993) and the Dob registered in my old dad records (2nd August 1992) and turns out it was my real Dob after parents confirmed they were mistaken in my ID registration , which means they told me the wrong dob ,the one I have used in my all doc since when I was child, now I ve completed my university studies and the office of imagination denied to give me my pp and ask me to change the dob I ve used in my ID to the original one means from 1993 to 1992, the one registered in my dad’s old file .
yesterday the 30.6.2016 I ve obtained my new ID so that I may got the pp from the immigration office,
Means the my dob changed ,the one I have used in the lottery submission with the one I have now in the new ID..and my all documents are going to have such dob .
I am afraid it will affect me in getting visa and may be affect my interview..
Kindly advice ..
thanks
July 2, 2016 at 14:04
Yes it could affect you. Try and document the mistake and everything you do about documents so you can explain the error when you interview.
July 3, 2016 at 15:11
i am going to fill up the DS 260 soon and i will use the DOB i have now to every documents needed as it was confirmed by the national id project, how do i have to document the error ?
what does officer need ?

Use your best judgment.

Hi Mr. Simon,
Many thanks for maintaining this site and your valuable responses.
My wife is a DV winner 2017, case No 2017AS000062XX. DS-260s were submitted last week for the 4 family members (wife, myself + 2 children aged 10 and 7). If everything goes well, judging from our case number, we can expect our visa interviews by early 2017 at the US Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka ?
For financial support, we can show about $ 30,000 as the bank balance plus clear deeds of assets (lands and house) owned by me and my wife worth about $ 80,000, valued by a certified valuer and attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. My question is will it be enough for the visa interview to prove that we can manage our settlement expenses by ourselves, or do we still have to provide an I-134 ? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Regards.

Thank you Mr. Simon. My wife, the principal applicant, is qualifying on education and I am as her spouse. I’m a skilled professional; will it help / be accepted if I get a job offer from a US employer in addition to the above funds ….appreciate your advice
July 4, 2016 at 15:01
If it is a genuine job offer, yes.
July 2, 2016 at 13:33
Hi Simon, I hope you are well !
I would like to raise a couple of questions.
My case number is: 2017EU 000018xx, currently living in London and so far I didn’t submitted the DS-2660 form.
I have got 2 children (14 and 21). The problem is with my daughter, she turned 21 last 27/01/2016 and she is a dependant student.
As far as I calculated there are 214 days from 01/10/2015 to 03/05/2016. Then, I added these 214 days to the 21 birthday, which means the deadline is on 29/08/2016. Therefore, my concern is about:
1 – This date indicates that I have to schedule my interview before 29/08/2016?
The European region status for July is “current” I assume, there would be no problem relating with my case number which is low.
2 – Could be a problem to include my daughter in DS-260, or I am on time to do that in the right way.
I would like to know what do you believe is the best possibility of action in my case.
Thank you in advance.
Patricia
July 2, 2016 at 13:54
1. No you daughter will age out in August, which means she would have to be eligible for interview in August. That’s impossible as DV2017 won’t start until October 1, so, she cannot be a derivative of your DV case.
2. You list your daughter on your DS260 but there is no point creating a DS260 for her.
Once you are settled in the USA you would be able to sponsor her as your unmarried child over 21, but that would take years. So – you must decide how to proceed in the meantime. She could get a student visa perhaps, and then once you are there you could sponsor her.
July 2, 2016 at 14:14
Then, the best way is don’t fill a DS260 for her.
I have to explain why I excluded my daughter, who was in the first instance in the application form?
How long I have to be settled there or working to sponsor her.
Sorry, to bother you with many questions.
Regards,
Patricia
July 2, 2016 at 14:28
You won’t have to explain – it will be clear. You were obliged to include her on the original entry even though it was certain she would age out. She must also be listed on your DS260.
You should understand it will be years before she can be sponsored. The current date for F2B applications is December 2009. So – it is around a 6 or 7 year wait. I don’t know much about that process – so I can’t advise you about it.
July 2, 2016 at 15:06
Hi Brit Simon,
I am a DV winner 2016 and have been living in US for couple of weeks now. Due to personal circumstances, I and my girlfriend did not marry during the GC process . I and my girlfriend are planning to get married in 3 months. Will I be able to start her green card process in 3 or 4 months from now? I know the process will take approximately 2 years. I want to know if I am eligible to apply for the green card process for her or not since it has only been a short time I have been in US.
July 2, 2016 at 15:19
Yes you can do that.
July 2, 2016 at 21:06
Hey
How long does the green card visa take expire from date of issuing?
July 3, 2016 at 02:34
10 years.
July 3, 2016 at 05:05
I mean if today am given the visa green card…. In my home country am required to travel to US after how long so that so that it expires if i don’t travel in time….
July 3, 2016 at 05:13
The VISA has an expiry date set 6 months after the MEDICAL.
July 3, 2016 at 06:07
Thank you
So it’s the medical that expires in 6months?
If we get visa this August…. Can we travel next year April?what will i need to do then?
Am pregnant right now.. Will that affect my visa issuance?can I be denied visa because of the pregnancy? I want to deliver here Ethiopia before going to US because am told in US it’s so expensive…..
July 3, 2016 at 15:09
Again. Your VISA will expire 6 months after the MEDICAL. You cannot extend that period of time. Pregnancy does not cause denial.
July 3, 2016 at 08:07
Hi brit..Thanks again for help and support
1……my problem is in Ghana, the West África Exams Council writes your surname first before your given names.Eg Kwadwo Solomon So it is that on all my wassce educational certificates. But on my passport it given or first name first eg. Solomon Kwadwo
2……can a passport picture be a basis for visa denial cos i heard people are denied in Accra ghana based on this two cases
July 3, 2016 at 15:06
1. That is not a problem since that is the standard method.
2. Yes a photo can get you denied.
July 4, 2016 at 05:42
So after 10 years whatt happend???
July 4, 2016 at 15:03
You renew the card. The status of the person holding the card is unchanged – they are still allowed to stay – we are simply talking about renewing the CARD – in answer to your question.
July 4, 2016 at 15:03
By the way – most people take citizenship after 5 years anyway – which means you no longer need the card.

Hi Brit,
My wife is a DV winner from Sri Lanka in 2016 and the interviews have been scheduled in this month. My wife is pregnant. We have scheduled an appointment to do the medicals and we got to know that the chest scan is exempted for pregnant women, and the medical will not be completed till the scan is done.
What will happen in a case like this?
Thanks
July 3, 2016 at 14:59
Normally a doctor will provide a shield during the xray. You need a completed medical, you cannot afford to delay the process, so discuss the matter with the doctor ensuring they will complete the medical and give their final report.
July 4, 2016 at 05:40
Hi. Am sri lankan too. But i did my medical in dubai. I face the same problem. But when i do xray the used lead cover for belly. So nothing to worry. Without xray medical is not complete.
July 4, 2016 at 08:51
Hi , I am also from sri lanka . I have finished my interview . Regarding medicals , Doctor will guide you in this case. Normally they did physical examination , blood test and x-ray. that s all. and doctor gave a list of vaccines to put . it will be contra-indicated to your wife. but it s all up to doctor. she will help you and give final report.
July 4, 2016 at 11:29
Hi DV Asia, will you tell me whether showing funds (sufficient bank balance and assets) is enough or do they ask for I-134 form from a sponsor in US… thanks
July 4, 2016 at 14:43
Just be aware that cases are considered on their own merits, so one person might not need to show support, while another might need to.
July 7, 2016 at 14:28
Thanks Mr. Simon. We’ll try and find a sponsor to be ready if in case it’s needed which I feel is safer. Thanks again you and DV Asia as well for valuable information. Will keep you posted on the progress of our case, hopefully by early next year …
July 4, 2016 at 14:46
The experience above shows that DV ASia WAS asked for an I-134 and was even delayed when the sponsor income was not enough.
July 3, 2016 at 14:53

July 4, 2016 at 07:37
Dear Sir! i am from Nepal. I got 1st Notification Letter of edv 2017. I submit my details in DS-260 form. I got submission reply in my email address but the main problem is, i showed my case number to my friends, family and the more mistake i have done that is, i showed my case and my details to other agencies who establish office to submit edv winner candidates their details and further processing it. for this they will take fare. actually i also submit my initial dv lotterry form(held in october-november) from one of the agencies but i submit ds-260 form from other agencies as they took less fare compare to 1st agencies. so, in this context. do they can edit my details by unlocking the ds-260 form without my permission or without requesting from my registered email address although they know my case number and my details. Please sir explain about it.
July 4, 2016 at 15:01
If they know your date of birth and case number they can edit your DS260. To request an unlock they need your full name – which of course they can get from the DS260. You should have been more careful with your private information.
July 5, 2016 at 08:00
Sir! do i get alert or notification from any means whether my DS-260 form have been unlocked or request for unlock ?
July 5, 2016 at 14:05
They send an email.
July 5, 2016 at 17:14
Sir! in my registered email or others else! Finally thank you for your kindly response Sir!
July 5, 2016 at 17:37
I’m not sure. But it’s trivial – in a few days you can check if it’s unlocked.
July 4, 2016 at 09:26
Hai Everybody , I would like to share my interview experience in Sri Lanka embassy.
I am the principal applicant and add my wife in the case after i got married. We can request KCC to unlock the ds 260 form and add derivatives after the submission only for spouse and new infant. as usual , My spouse name is missing in interview letter (2NL). That is Normal . you request embassy to add her name and then they mail me a letter . After only , we did the medical examination.
During interview ,
It s quite simple. But we were in tension at the gate until 1 pm. The letter says time for interview and is not a accurate fixed time . the process starts from 1 pm and need to pass the security blocks.
then after we need to inside of office with token number they provided at the entrance. The entrance Security office has name list of people who attending the interview and visa collection.
At the office , The office clerk collect the documents one by one with originals and 01 photocopies and took finger prints. The printed DS 260 forms are essential. Next we pay the cash at counter. Please bring the cash not bank draft which makes clarifications some times. The token number displaying at the front and direct you to counters and consular interview.
After documents submission and payment done , we have to go consular room after the token number displayed to consular room. There is a narrow room . we were standing one side and other side consular , glass between us. The first , we have to take oath by raising one hand next finger print again. The consular kindly talked with us regarding education , work and our marriage. The final part talked regarding affidavit of support which is not enough to cover us and provided a yellow paper with indicating needed document from new sponsor. Asked us to mail as soon as possible. Says Congratulations both of us.
I gave a bank balance but they did not consider our bank statement ( 20,000 USD ) at the interview and need only affidavit of support with 1040 , w2 , payment slips , ID and photo. I have sent new sponsor after a week. AP leads only 10 days after interview and Now changed to issued.
Thank you Brit simon.
Every things done by your blogs and answers.
July 4, 2016 at 12:13
hello DV ASIA.
did u certified all your documents from foreign ministry?can u please send me your mail address.
July 4, 2016 at 13:09
Dear brit sir
I read somewhere on your page that for some embassy having host is enough you do not need aos. Do you have any information related to that about nepal kathmandu embassy?
July 4, 2016 at 14:40
That is normal for KDU – but they have the right to ask for an I-134 if they decide it is needed.
July 4, 2016 at 15:48
My mail ID – [email protected]. I visited to isurupaya , battramulla and applied for dv green card category A/L certificate collection . We should not collect certificate and just get collection card and drop off at embassy security reception.
July 7, 2016 at 22:43
Am from Srilanka, When is ur interview August?
July 4, 2016 at 14:55
Thanks for the detailed account of the interview – it will help others. I reposted it to the interview experience page. I’m interested why they refused the first I-134. Was that the one at $27000? How many family members were there between you and the sponsor? I am trying to see whether they applied a 100% of federal poverty guidelines or 125%.
I’m glad you got the issued update so fast!
July 4, 2016 at 15:59
Hi brit ,
My sponsor showed support with 27000 USD . They are 3 people including a child. We are two. Consular check the poverty line infront of us . They pasted a list at embassy. Finally said that not enough to cover 5 people. Asked us to send New support by mail with scanned yellow paper indicating what documents needed.
But we gave bank statement indicating 20,000 USD . But he did not care abt this even he was n hand.
Regards
Mugunthan
July 4, 2016 at 17:28
The Federal poverty guideline for 2016 is $28,440 for 5 people – so yep – 27000 was too low. $20,000 in savings is also slightly too low for 2 people I think they are starting to get pickier about that. Thanks for coming back to me.
July 8, 2016 at 06:14
Hai Brit ,
In sri Lanka embassy , I have received visa yesterday. In this collection case , Its very simple. If they go inside secruity area, They have a list for visa collection people. we have to show approval letter or yellow page or identity card . Before give visas in hand , They had a session for all about online usics payment , visa expiry date as usual 06 months ( Must watch medical expire date) and given unsealed pack with visa printed passport.
If you took medical early and have to cover full visa expiry date and need to submit new medical again.
If we have all requested documents in interview , we will kick off ..
Thank you brit simon.
July 4, 2016 at 16:07
Hi Brit,
It’s seven months now since I sat for my interview and my case was placed on further Administrative Processing. I really want to know what kind of administrative processing takes this long. Since December up to now, I don’t just know what’s the hold on my process. I am confused and kinda giving up on this whole thing.
July 4, 2016 at 17:29
The only type of AP that takes that long ios “name check” security background. The link below could explain it more.
https://britsimonsays.com/administrative-processing-fbi-name-checks/
July 5, 2016 at 01:40
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2017EU13XXX. I still haven’t submitted my DS260 because I’m getting married next week. It will take me more than 3 weeks to change my surname and address in the ID and passport and I hope I won’t miss the chance to apply.
My question is: should I inform the KCC about the changes before we submit or should we simply fill the applications for both me and my husband and let them figure out why has my address and name changed?
Thank you for all your effort, you are amazing
July 5, 2016 at 02:26
No need to inform them. Just take all the proof to the interview.
July 5, 2016 at 04:22
Dear Brit Simons,
I know you have already made an entire post about this and that you are likely sick of asking the same questions, however, I am still having difficulty getting my head around everything!
I was randomly selected for further processing for the DV2017. I have a partner of 4 year and we live together. Obviously I want to move to the US with him. We entered the lottery thinking the chances of us winning were nill – but hey, here we are!
I have already submitted my D260 in may and obviously did not include him on it as we are not yet married. We do however plan on marrying, we just had not decided on when – and now all of this has come up!
Could you please shed some advice on what we are meant to do, and by when!??
I am case number 2017OC8** … I am not sure where this places us in the scheme of things.
July 5, 2016 at 06:00
Do this, in order.
1. Get married.
2. Submit your DS260s as a married couple (one each).
Doing that you will both get visas around July.
Do step 2 before about March/April. Between now and then, learn a little more by reading some more of my blog! 🙂
July 5, 2016 at 23:05
Thanks BritSimon – seriously don’t know how people do this without your blog!!! What sort of timeline am I looking at? When would you suggest doing step 1?
Could you possibly remove my case number from the post – I know its not there in full..but, you know!
Thanks again.
July 6, 2016 at 00:25
Do step 1 sooner rather than later – as I mentioned you want to have completed that before you submit, but other than that it won’t matter exactly when you get married.
I haven’t edited your number. The way you wrote the case number is fine – it’s anonymous enough and puts some context on our comments in case anyone else has a similar question.
July 6, 2016 at 01:13
I have already submitted my DS260 in May – so I will need to unlock it and adjust.
July 6, 2016 at 02:07
Then do step 1 as soon as possible. You can unlock, and KCC are meant to not schedule an unlocked case, however, they have recently scheduled cases that were processed and then unlocked. So – if that happens you need to have your new spouse on your case with a DS260 also…
July 5, 2016 at 07:31
Hi Brit
Previously about months ago your helpful answer had assisted and relaxed me in an issue of immigration. Now we ( my wife, my two children and I) entered to the United Stated through immigrant visas, before two day, unfortunately , we lost my wife’s passport in costumes area, I am not sure were it gone, we gave them the medical and passports, now we have three stamped passports as for me stamped as DV2 , our two children stamped as DV3 with stamp (admitted), …. I was assisted a woman in the airport to hold her bags, suddenly my wife told me that passports were three !! we told the staff there, they told us it is not there. We are worry about the fate of it, and our status, My wife is the principal. Please what to call or do.
Thank you very much
July 5, 2016 at 14:07
You need to replace your wife’s passport. It doesn’t affect your status as residents of the USA. After 2 to 3 months you will get your plastic Green Card – and that is all you need (in addition to the passport)
July 5, 2016 at 08:27
Hello
I have ready doing my interview at 21 june in Dakar senegal after do it the agent take my passport and all my document she give me a green ticket and she tell me to come back at 28 june.
I come back at 28 june they tell me to come back today 05 june.
My statut is always ready.
im worried
July 5, 2016 at 11:26
Hi!
i’m a 2016 Dv winner. i got recently married, but we register the paper marriage before the actual ceremony. So, legal marriage paper shows the date which is 2 months earlier than actual marriage
ceremony. I even posted on facebook about my married status on same ceremony date which shows 2 months after the marriage registration date. What should i answer in interview about my marriage date?
Its impossible to change the registration date by law. Its not a fake marriage. Does it make any difference ? Im really confused. Or should i tell embassy that it all happened on same date written on marriage certificate. I have a complete wedding ceremony pictures and videos for evidence.
Thank you
July 5, 2016 at 14:03
The legal marriage date is when you got married – that is the date.
July 5, 2016 at 14:14
But the marriage certificate shows the different date from my actual ceremony date. For the fast processing we registered our marriage before the actual ceremony.Which date should I write on DS 260 form? It has been unlocked after my email request.
Thank you
July 5, 2016 at 14:26
You put the date when you were LEGALLY married. That’s it. Not complicated.
July 5, 2016 at 14:36
Can I say the same reason if I’m asked on interview about this issue?
I’m worried if they doubt about the two dates at the interview time. Should I say that photographs are from same date of legal registration or different wedding day at the interview?
Thank you
July 5, 2016 at 14:59
Oh gosh. Just explain whatever is the truth. You haven’t done anything wrong. Don’t make something up!
July 5, 2016 at 12:15
Dear brit..much thanks to your energ00y i have completed my name error and started corecting the spelling errors..now my question is i added a name that i used before besides my original name
1. So should i erase my second i insert on the ds form and say no to the section that says have you used other names??
2. I do some reaserch on th visa quota for africa and i found out that every year there is around 21000 visas allocated for africans selectee from the overall 50000 visas by american govt…my number is 2017af355**..from the visa buelletin my interview will be around may or june and around 33000 africans win the dv from the whole 86000 selectes..i have a perfect highschool transcript with engineering degree from ethiopia..i think i will pass the interview,no crimanal records..do you think i will get a visa before it runs out visas for africa??
July 5, 2016 at 14:02
1. Use your best judgement.
2. There are more than enough visas this year. So don’t worry about that.
July 5, 2016 at 13:14
Hello Mr Britsimon,
My husband has decided he no longer wants to immigrate to the US.
I’m the primary applicant, will his decision affect my application and how?
As I want to pursue it, along with our children?
Thank you
July 5, 2016 at 14:00
If you haven’t already been interviewed, the only aspect you might be quizzed on is how you will support yourself and children.
July 5, 2016 at 18:19
hi helpful simon, i will be interviewed on 10th august and i am H.pylari parasite positive will it effect me or could it cause visa denial ?
July 5, 2016 at 18:38
Mr Brit
1.How much savings must your sponsor have for one person?
2. With the work experience, must you work in 2 or more companies to qualify or only one can do?
3.Does Network Engineering qualify with the job or vocation experience?
Thank you
July 6, 2016 at 01:14

July 6, 2016 at 02:05
It is standard text – it doesn’t mean anything about your case.

Hello brit sir,
I have some problem regarding my fathers name. It is that in my educational documents(transfer certificates) it is Bashudev but passport officer wrote it as Basudev. I filled in ds260 acc. as my passport. Will it create any problem or should I do some paperwork verification for it.
Thanks for Ur kind replies…
July 6, 2016 at 14:32
It should not be a problem as long as the CO does not suspect your education certificate is not yours.
July 6, 2016 at 04:41
Hi Brit,
My wife is a DV winner in 2016 from Sri Lanka and the interviews are been scheduled next week and she is pregnant. We went to the medical exam yesterday and the panel physician told that the chest-xray cannot be done and the vaccination treatment cannot be done due to pregnancy. He didn’t allow to do the chest-xray with our consent with the shield, due to the risk condition. He told he will write those things in the medical report.
What will happen in a case like this? Will the embassy refuse the visa ? Or will give some exempt for the medical till the delivery?
From where I can get additional consultancy for cases like this?
Thanks
July 6, 2016 at 14:30
It depends how he has written the report – i.e. whether he cleared her or not.
July 6, 2016 at 06:08
Dear brit..as you say i should use my best judgment but as you are more proffessional on this level..before i use my judgment..i think i need to have yours.
My best judgment is i have corrected all my name spelling errors on my education certificates..my passport and birthday card name are all correct..the spelling errors also minor..my real name is “Yonas Hadush Hailesellasie” but on my education certificates it says “Yonas Hadsh Hailesellasie” as you see it is one spell error on my father name and before now i have corrected butpreviously i inserted that name to the section” have you used other names?” Now i think it is irrelevant to put it there because all my documents are in one name..
1. Sinccerily I think you dont want to decide for me that is why you told me to use my best judgment..what problem do you think it will bring?
And much thanks for your unlimmited advices..you have no idea how much restful i feel after reading your answers!!
July 6, 2016 at 14:27
YOU know whether you have USED that name or not – so again – YOU decide.
July 6, 2016 at 14:33

Hello Mr Brit,
I am a dv 2017 and here is my case 2017As000049**
While I submitted in the lottery last year ,I uploaded a required photo that it has all requirements except the head size. My head size in that photo was 71% and right now i know that the head size must be between 50% to 69%.
so, I am afraid that this will affect me in getting visa and may be affect my interview.
could you advice me if i go to the interview or forget it and try next year.
thanks
July 6, 2016 at 14:25
This is trivial. Forget it.
July 6, 2016 at 19:52
Thanks very much for your respond. I was so worried that i will be disquilfied becouse of my photo.
July 6, 2016 at 06:47
Dear Brit
My interview is on this 18th july 2016. I unlocked my DS260 form to add my spouse. its been a week it has been unlocked. Due to some missing documents of my spouse it will take more 2-3 days to fill the DS 260 form.
Is it Ok to take more 2-3 days to fill the form since we have only 12 days left for the interview.
Thank you
July 6, 2016 at 14:25
I don’t understand how you got your form unlocked when you have been scheduled. You don’t need documents to fill in the DS260, so really – I have no idea what you are doing!
July 10, 2016 at 05:00
HI SIMON KINDLY ADVISE ME. I FILL IN MY DS260 FORM WITH MY WEDDING CEREMONY DATE WHICH IS A DAY AFTER THE LEGAL DATE AND I AM HAVING MY INTERVIEW THIS MONTH.
July 10, 2016 at 13:42
It’s not a problem.
July 6, 2016 at 06:51
I email kcc for unlock ds260 cozez my sponser has changed their u.s address but address is same when i alredy fill ds260 i don’t want to change my ds260 form what would id sir? i already email kcc for ds260 unlock.. im cunfused what should i do?
July 6, 2016 at 14:23
Now that I read your question, I am also confused.
July 6, 2016 at 07:46
Mr Brit
1.How much savings must your sponsor have for one person?
2. With the work experience, must you work in 2 or more companies to qualify or only one can do?
3.Does Network Engineering qualify with the job or vocation experience?
Thank you
July 6, 2016 at 14:21
1. Use the search magnifying glass for “134”.
2. One, two, 100. Doesn’t matter.
3. Possible, use the search again for “work experience”.
July 6, 2016 at 12:33
Hi Simon,
Thank you for this blog! It provides so many valuable insights for its readers!
My husband is a DV2017 OC winner with case number 2017OC5xx, we submitted DS260 early June. I have a few questions and hope that you can help!
1. Based on the historical interview timeline, it looks like the case number won’t be ‘current’ until December/January, but is it likely for the interview timeline to be earlier given that we submitted our form early June?
2. Would shares/stock count as liquid asset?
3. Do we need to obtain I-134 if we have cash savings plus shares more than the amount you’ve mentioned in your article on public charges?
4. If I fall pregnant before the interview, do I need to resubmit DS260 or am I obligated to let the CO know at the interview?
5. Judging from the case number and we both meet the education criteria, do you think we’re likely to get an interview and if we’re lucky enough to be interviewed, factoring in potential wait time for AP status, is it likely that we will get the visa before the Sep17 cut off timeline?
Sorry the last question is really a two part questions. Thank you very much for your help in advance!
July 6, 2016 at 14:17
1. No
2. Yes
3. The I134 is a safer option. Your choice.
4. Only once a child is born. If you are pregnant during the medical you need to mention that to the doctor so they can use a shield for the xrays.
5. You will get an interview, and there is high chance you’ll be approved on the day. AP is unusual in OC.
July 6, 2016 at 14:30
Many thanks for your reply and truly appreciate your help!!
July 6, 2016 at 14:51
hi helpful simon, i will be interviewed on 10th august and i am H.pylari parasite positive will it effect me or could it cause visa denial ?
July 6, 2016 at 17:43
No problem.
July 6, 2016 at 15:33
Hey
Am Hellen am in Rwanda…. My interview is late next month August…. Am pregnant 6 month’s now by the time am given visa…. It will be September…… I am the principal winner
1.if am given visa September and I go USA immediate and come back Rwanda to give birth… To raise the new born…. What will I be required to do to get visa for the new born?
2.After how long will i be required to travell back without going to embassy?
3.if I wait till i deliver here early October… What will happen?with the new born in going together to US? Coz she will be born after September 30…the deadline for dv2016 ?and the new born won’t have visa under Dv 2016?
4.have never been to aeroplane,…. Can I be allowed to fly when i am 8 and half months pregnant?
Pls advice
July 6, 2016 at 17:23
1, 2 & 3 are all answered here – https://britsimonsays.com/how-to-add-a-newborn-child-to-the-dv-case/
4. No – an airline will probably not allow you to travel at that point. You don’t have to travel before the end of September – you will have a visa valid for 6 months after the medical.
July 7, 2016 at 09:12
Thank you
I will fall in scenario 3:child born after visa given but bfo first initial entry to US
1..What kind of authorisation will the embassy give? Is a letter or temporary visa
2.I will need to book for appointment at the embassy with the new born for such authorisation?
Kind regards
July 7, 2016 at 14:36
1. A Travel authorization, purely to get on the plane.
2. Possibly. Ask them during your interview.
July 6, 2016 at 16:12
Hello Mr Brit, I received from my sponsors (a couple) the form in 1040 of which the fees are $ 158,000 and also I have received a couple of affidavit supporting I-134 on what is only ecris the name of the woman and her salary $ 94,000 … I wonder if acceptable by the embassy or see the procedure? 2016 AF 49xxx From ABIDJAN IVORY COAST
July 6, 2016 at 17:19
That’s acceptable.
July 6, 2016 at 16:19
Dear brit as you said i have used that name(which has one missing spell error on my father name)on my education certificate but now i take the case to court and they corrected it..now i have no any document with error..all matched with rhe passport name..but as i told you when they reject me to correct my education certifcates i gave up and i put it on the section have you used other names.
1. And i am afraid they will ask a document at the interview with that second name on it if i dont erase it and i dont have any document..all is corrected..do you think they will ask??
Please i have my own judgment but sometimes it is better to listen to a professional for advice and i 100% count on you..sincessarly i need some explanation..big thanks
July 6, 2016 at 16:50
Please stop asking the same question over and over again. I have answered you.
July 7, 2016 at 07:54

July 6, 2016 at 21:50
Hi Simon:
I am a naturalised UK citizen, originally from India. India doesn’t recognise dual nationality so I gave up my Indian citizenship and passport when I became UK citizen.
I was in India till the age of 30 and been living in UK for last 7 years.
I am trying to discern if I will need to get a police certificate from India as well. Looking at the guide on page (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/diversity-visa/if-you-are-selected/prepare-supporting-documents.html) it seems that I will need to get police certificate from India. However, reciprocity page for India (https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/IN.html) doesn’t address ex-Indian citizens presently living outside India. How do I get police certificate from India?
Thanks,
Taps
July 6, 2016 at 22:09
I would suggest you approach the case like an “Indian passport holders residing outside India”. At the time – that was true.
However, your question does not cover your chargeability. How did you become eligible for the DV lottery?
July 7, 2016 at 07:58
Hi Simon:
Thanks for the response.
My wife was born in Germany. So she is the primary applicant. She has been selected for further processing with no. 2017EU000017xxx
To avoid delays on getting police certificate from Indian High Commission in London, should I start the process now (before 2NL is received )?
Thanks a lot
Taps
July 7, 2016 at 14:38
OK cool.
Yes you can start now. Since you won’t revisit India, that police cert will still be valid.
July 7, 2016 at 22:55
Hi Simon:
Thanks for your inputs.
There is a possibility that I may travel to India (as an OCI – Overseas Citizen of India – kind of life time visa for ex indian nationals) for a week or two in December.
Do you reckon the Indian police certificate would be invalidated if I travel to India after the certificate was issued ?
Many thanks
Taps
July 7, 2016 at 23:58
There is a risk of that yes. Police certs are generally thought to be valid for 3 to 6 months – however, you could get a clean police cert from a week agon and ron a bank today – so yes – the COs prefer newer police certs unless you can show you have not revisited that country.

The London embassy pdf says to register at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb for courier service before the interview. I tried logging putting my information in to register, the below appeared:
“The Immigrant Visa case number provided is not ready to schedule an appointment. If you have not received an appointment letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), you can check the status of your IV case at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc.html.
If you have received an appointment letter from the NVC or an instruction letter from the Consular Section directing you to this website to schedule an appointment, please make sure to correctly enter your IV case number.
If you continue to receive this message, please send an email to the CSC support [email protected] with the following information:
Email Subject line must read “Case number not ready to schedule”
Applicant’s complete name
Applicant’s date of birth
Scanned copy of the National Visa Center (NVC) or Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) appointment letter or the appointment instructions letter received by the Consular Section.
Emails to the CSC support will be responded to within 3-4 business days. Do not send multiple emails because this will delay the response to your inquiry.”
My status was updated to Ready on 05/07/2016. Should I give it more time or have I done something wrong? I have already been given 2NL and been given my interview dates etc.
July 6, 2016 at 23:41
The usvisa-info service is essentially a courier service. For some types of visas they do the scheduling – but not for DV – so you don’t have to worry about scheduling messages – just pick whatever options you need to to get registered with your DV case number.
July 6, 2016 at 23:52
I have tried putting all information correct including Case Number with and without the 3 zeros. But the message ‘is not ready for an appointment.’ keeps appearing. I have selected the 4 options for IV services but all still did not work. My ‘Ready’ status is updated on 05/07/2016. Am I too early or should I email them and ask?
July 7, 2016 at 02:02
Like I said – just create the account – choose non immigrant visa – or whatever other option lets you create an account.
July 10, 2016 at 21:50
I have chosen all 4 options that were presented to me but it still didn’t let me continue after I put my case number. So, I email [email protected] as per original instruction and after that they put my case number onto the system. It took one business day so if anyone else has the same issue in the future they should email them so that their case number will be put on the system.
After I registered, they somehow asked me again to schedule an appointment when I registered for a courier service. But in my 2NL, the appointment has already been scheduled on a date in August. Unfortunately, the date that I was provided in my 2NL was not an option for me to schedule the appointment so i scheduled the first available one in August. Does it mean that my original appointment had been changed to this new date?
Just worried. The system did not allow me to continue if i did not choose a date. So I had to pick a date and time for my appointment regardless. It just so happens that the one that has already been scheduled on my 2NL was not available. Should I relax on this?
July 10, 2016 at 22:30
I have registered without scheduling, so I dont know what you have done. I doubt you cancelled the existing appointment.
July 7, 2016 at 05:22
Hi Sir am so glad to be here again I can’t thank you enough for the help you have been given to us all.I am already in the USA for more than 2 months now but haven’t received my GC for which I paid before living for the USA. Any idea on what could be going wrong.
July 7, 2016 at 14:42
Nothing is going wrong as such – GCs are commonly taking around 90 days to arrive. More patience…. as you know – that is what the DV process is all about…
July 7, 2016 at 09:10
hello simon
Is it possible that you can ask kcc to reschedule your interview
July 7, 2016 at 14:37
KCC don’t reschedule once they have scheduled. You then have to deal with the embassy.
July 7, 2016 at 10:17
hi Brit, pls I made a mistake on my place of birth on form D260 and my interview is August. pls what can I do
July 7, 2016 at 14:35
Nothing. Just explain the mistake to the CO.
July 7, 2016 at 10:36

your reply is highly appreciated
thank you
July 7, 2016 at 14:35
1. No
2. Yes
3. No
July 7, 2016 at 10:55
sorry for some errors in spelling in above comment.
July 7, 2016 at 15:24
Hi,
DS-260 says: “Please provide the address in the United States where you want your Permanent Residence Card (Green Card) mailed.”.
We need to change the address we put to our DS-260 forms. Can we change this address during the interview or how should we proceed ? We would not want to reopen DS-260 forms just to do this.
July 7, 2016 at 15:33
You can change in the interview yes.
July 7, 2016 at 16:03
Please my cousin is a winner of the 2017 dv lottery and she’s a single mum..the question is, she’s not going with the baby but can she add the baby to the ds260?
2)would there be any consequences?
3)if she is not going with the baby but still add her in the case..Is She Going To The Interview With the Baby AND Also To The Medicals?
4)What are her chances if she tell them she’s not going with the baby?
5)what advice would you give her.
Thanks very much mr brit
July 7, 2016 at 16:57
1. She must add the child to her own DS260. If she wanted a visa for the child she would create a DS260 for the child also.
2. The baby won’t get a visa. She will obviously be asked about that – as it seems very unwise.
3. If the child is not going, the child would not need to attend the interview or medical.
4. It will look odd.
5. Take the baby – what on earth is she thinking!
July 7, 2016 at 18:40
I am still waiting for my 2NL which I anticipate will be out somewhere this mid-July, and might be appearing for the interview in September 2016
Currently I am not residing in my state of chargeability, so I will be appearing for the visa interview in my current country of residence. If the visa is granted I will then have to commence my exit process regarding my employment, and other related issues which might take up to 2 months
There is a notice that passports must be valid for a minimum of 6 months after the candidate’s intended date of entry into the US. Assuming I get the visa in September, I should be all set to depart after November
The main issue at hand now is that the passport of my last child (age 4 years, one of my dependants) will expire on 17th May 2017. Meaning that I MUST enter latest Mid November 2016; but as stated above, I would still not have completed my exit process. In this case, what appropriate line of action would you advise I take?
Thanks
Victoria
July 7, 2016 at 19:06
Replace the passport.
July 7, 2016 at 19:27
Thanks. working on it now. May God bless you greatly.
July 8, 2016 at 12:55
2017AF10*** DS submitted but did not include primary school details. Only listed high school and colleges. I’m from Nairobi, do I need to unlock for that?
July 8, 2016 at 14:15
No. They ask for secondary level and above.
