June 5, 2018 at 00:08
Hi Brit.. we are in a serious situation. yesterday we came to US with our 3 kids and gave our documents to the Immigration officer and let him few minutes to check them . He took our finger prints and photos and gave our endorsed passports. when we request to change our address he denied saying its too late.
My sponsor has sold that property and dosnt know about new people.
What can we do sir?
ALL OTHERS WHO WANT TO CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS AT THE POE , PLEASE TELL THAT IN THE (VERY FIRST CONVERSATION) WITH THE OFFICER !
Thanks…..
June 5, 2018 at 01:09
Sometimes you have to be firm with these immigration officials.
June 5, 2018 at 13:35
Any thing that i can do to change the address now? Or any other suggestion… Really worrid. …..
June 5, 2018 at 14:17
There is a change of address page on USCIS website – BUT the GC will probably be sent to the address on your POE paperwork.
June 7, 2018 at 21:55
Go to the uscis website and change the address.

Dear Mr. Simon I inform my case number, from Venezuela DV 2019 9xx,
1. what possibilities I would have of interview and what would be the estimated time for the?
2. Is it necessary for my titles and civil documents to be apostilled or legalized?
June 5, 2018 at 01:08
1. You have a long wait – have a look at DV2018 visa bulletin progress to get an idea.
2. You have plenty of time to learn about that!
June 5, 2018 at 01:27
Thank Mr. Simon, but with that case number for South America, there could be security of an interview or it is a risky number?
June 5, 2018 at 02:53
Did you look as I said??
June 5, 2018 at 08:03
Hi Brit .
I need your help , I had an interview today in UAE Abu Dhabi US embassy and the CO denied me a visa under section 212(a) reason that I had only 2 pass grade’s (C) . I am from Cameroon am an undergraduate and in my country two subject is a pass for high school without that I wound not have been admitted into the university. But today I was surprise the CO said is not a pass that am not eligible.
Please is there something I can do because the CO doesn’t seem to understand the grading system in my country.
June 5, 2018 at 13:56
There is no formal appeal process. But – you could contact the embassy in Cameroon to get them to confirm what you have said, and then forward that to UAE embassy.

Hi Brit,
I’m trying to write a question but I don’t know why it is not going.
My question is about my mother in law which has changed her name (given name) in the past.
Where should I write it in the DS260 form?
Thank you.
June 5, 2018 at 13:58
They don’t ask that question.
June 5, 2018 at 08:24
Hello Brit
I’m from Ethiopia with Case # 2018AF245***.
I had an interview at Addis Abba Embassy yesterday (June 04) and I got my VISA approved.
I would like to say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME/US IN YOUR PAGE!
My interview stories are not worth sharing cuz I was being asked almost no questions.
I think fulfilling required educational and/or work experience matters the most.
Thanks a lot brother!!!!!!!! God Bless Simon!!!

June 5, 2018 at 09:28
Hello Mr Brit
I contacted kcc about the 2nl delay and their response was
“Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing”
I submitted my ds260 in June 2016 and unlocked again in January 2017.
1) when I look at the updated ceac data, all the numbers are READY are those who deposited maximum by November 2016. I am of the opinion that unlocking might not have caused any delays in the past but this year there is given the abnormalities witnessed this year. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION SIR?
2) Also on ceac data charts, when I look particularly the the case of Cameroon I see numbers still ready right down to 6xxx.what does that mean sir?
June 5, 2018 at 10:38
is dv 2017 still processing until now 5 june 2018?
June 5, 2018 at 14:00
1. Unlocking does not cause delay.
2. People who either delayed submitting their DS260 until late or were scheduled earlier and did not show up to interview.
June 5, 2018 at 13:55
Hie Simon
My number AF 33*** is due next month (from the visa bulletin ) but i haven’t recieved my email. Im getting worried. What should I do?
June 5, 2018 at 14:19
Contact KCC
June 5, 2018 at 14:22
Dear Brit,
In EU region at the moment 13734 Issued
AP 1115, Ready 4206, total 19055. Does it mean that visa limits already gone?
Winners whith numbers 30+ just must forget about their chances?
June 5, 2018 at 16:18
I keep saying wait and see because it is clear that we are close to hitting the planned quota. However, we do NOT know if there will be additional quota given to EU because of shortfalls in other regions. So – wait and see is the only smart advice.
June 5, 2018 at 14:22
Hello mr Brit, good day.
Please my friend who is a Cameroonians has his interview today in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates got denied because they said his grades are low. But in Cameroon, they give people visas with lower grades. Please is there anything he can do st this point??
June 5, 2018 at 16:18
He has already asked for himself.
June 5, 2018 at 14:28
hi Brit… My Case number is 27xxx and i haven’t receive and interview date… does that mean i will not be schedule for interview? And why u think people might not be scheduled for interview..?
June 5, 2018 at 16:19
Your number is meaningless without a year and region.
June 5, 2018 at 14:34
Greetings sir! We have entered USA the previous week. We are desperately waiting for social card. For how long we have to wait for it sir?
June 5, 2018 at 16:37

June 5, 2018 at 15:03
Hi Simon!
My case number is 2019EU213XX, Finland.
1. Is my case number too high compared what you’ve seen so far?
2. What are the Financial Requirements to get a DV Lottery Green Card?
Will I need to provide documentary evidence at the interview that I have available means of support to live in the US?
I’m applying on my own. Would 10K$-15K$ be enough?
Thank you Simon!
June 5, 2018 at 16:39
1. It is too early to know. Wait some weeks.

June 5, 2018 at 15:14
Good evening Brit, first of all I thank you for your efforts and help you bring us. I am from GUINEA CONAKRY and I am doing the baccalaureate this year and I have two questions to ask you about the DS260 more precisely at the level of WORK / EDUCATION / TRAINING ….. On this part on the form it is written : Primary Occupation and I would like to know if I can enter there “I am a student” or if I can enter “I am not employed”. the second question is also at the level of: In what profession employed in the USA, I would like to know here also as I am a student, can I enter “I will study by specifying the field of study” Thank you and know that I am a student
June 5, 2018 at 16:41
You are a student – so that is your first answer. The second answer doesn’t matter. Pick student if you want, or astronaut.
June 5, 2018 at 18:16
Thank you, by filling out the form at the level of education, we start with the last degree obtained or by the 1st diploma obtained and the 2nd question is it specified in the form where we did the primary education, secondary and university?
June 5, 2018 at 18:47
The form makes the order required clear.
June 5, 2018 at 19:05
I did not understand, What do you want me to understand, please explain Me a little?
June 5, 2018 at 19:14
Read the form.
June 5, 2018 at 17:03
Brit good day.on my form ds 260 I chose The military as the profession I would love to work in while in the US.now my worry are these
1-on the day of the interview if the C.O asks me what I will be doing in the US I’m I still uplarged to maintain that it’s in the military?
2-if I say it’s the military and the C.O asks me why I chose the military what possible answers can I give.this is bcos on the day of filling my ds260 I didn’t really know what to chose so I was adviced to chose the military
3-is the military only for U.S citizens or it is also possible for green card holders to enrol in the military
4 – lastly brit if entering the military is complicated or not possible for green card holders ,then, what other profession is advisable to tell the C.O I will like to do in the U.S for a University graduate of HISTORY
5-sir changing the profession on the day of interview to something different on the ds260 ,won’t that cause distortion of information and possible denial by the C.O
Once again God bless brit,I’m AF465**.hope I’m go current with the next VB.
June 5, 2018 at 17:40
1. “Uplarged” – no. Obliged, no, not that either.
2. You just tell the truth for you – not someone else’s answers.
3. GC holders can enlist.
4. Again – tell the truth. Not what you think they want you to say!!!
5. Lying can cause denial. Changing your mind cannot.
June 5, 2018 at 19:02
Thank you, by filling out the form at the level of education, we start with the last degree obtained or by the 1st diploma obtained and the 2nd question is it specified in the form where we did the primary education, secondary and university?
June 5, 2018 at 19:40
Hi Brit!
Is there any possibility to delay submitted DS-260? Since my fiance has CS number EU4XXX, we will get NCLs in mid September, but our wedding is on 10th of September. So we are concern about not adding me to the DS-260.
We have to change embassy, so we have to unlock it either way, would resubmitting DS-260 will work?
Many thanks,

Hello Britis,
Kindly help us with reading the above information . I quoted it from Xiathrus..
June 5, 2018 at 22:07
The file it came in has column headings….
June 5, 2018 at 20:22
Hello Brit…. I’ve read most of your blogs and are really helpful,Thank you. However, my concern is that am a 2018AF DV winner and I had already submitted my DS260 awaiting interview to be scheduled, but I wanted to add my patner of whom we are planning a life with and we’ve been together and have twin kids though not yet acquired a marriage certificate, but we have an affidavit of a bonafide relationship signed by an advocate.
The question is, can I use that affidavit to request my DS260 to be unlocked for me to add her as spouse,? since I had already added our twin kids during the first entry.
2. Are there risks of denial by using such affidavit? since it will take a longer time here in my country Kenya to get a marriage certificate and too we didn’t have money to pay for the certificate yet and I anticipate my interview to be scheduled next month or August.
June 5, 2018 at 22:13
1. No. You have to be legally married.
2. See 1.
You already asked about this and I answered. Unless you start acting rather than asking you will simply waste all your time.

hi simon. I won the 2018 Dv lottery. I filled in as unmarried. i raise my child alone though the father occasionally calls and all that (once or twice a year). will i be allowed the green card because we were never married and have been raising my child alone?
June 6, 2018 at 14:10
Yes
June 6, 2018 at 07:58
Hi brit i have a question can i go to the interview without the medical report can i sumbit it later and what if i did it will relate to refuse my visa
June 6, 2018 at 14:15
Some embassies will allow that, some won’t. Doing that can cause a delay which can lead to risk. Only do that if there is no choice.
June 6, 2018 at 08:50
Good morning Brit and how are you, please what’s the meaning of SSN
June 6, 2018 at 10:01
SSN: Social Security Number
In the United States, a Social Security number (SSN) is a nine-digit number issued to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and temporary (working) residents under section 205(c)(2) of the Social Security Act, codified as 42 U.S.C. § 405(c)(2). The number is issued to an individual by the Social Security Administration, an independent agency of the United States government. Although its primary purpose is to track individuals for Social Security purposes,[1] the Social Security number has become a de facto national identification number for taxation and other purposes.[2]
A Social Security number may be obtained by applying on Form SS-5, Application for A Social Security Number Card.[3]

Hi Brit!!!
I am from Serbia and I am selected with a case number 2019EU242**. I am planning to marry my boyfriend of 3 years (we are a gay couple) so that we can apply together. But I have a couple of questions:
1. Gay marriage is not legal in my country. If we were to get married somewhere where it is legal (Denmark for example) will that marriage certificate be accepted and allow us to proceed with this opportunity together?
2. Serbia is not the best country regarding gay rights, so we do not live openly as a gay couple (My parents know about this relationship, but his family doesn’t even know that he is a homosexual). Also, we don’t have mutual bank account, and we don’t live together (we are still students). Apart from that, we talk and spend time together every day, he sleeps at my place at least 2 times a week, we have a bunch of friends that support us and we have went for a lots of trips together (at least 5 to foreign countries, both alone and with other friends).
Do you think we will have problems proving our relationship is genuine or do you think that marrying now would decrease my chances of receiving green card and trying to bring him along later?
Sorry for the long post. I am scared and confused about what should we do and don’t want to waste this opportunity for both of us. Any advice regarding this subject would be welcome!
Thank you so much in advance!
June 6, 2018 at 14:19
1. Yes
2. No problem. The embassy staff are aware that not all places are understanding about gay rights. But take all the proof you can of the relationship.
June 6, 2018 at 14:05
Hi Brit,
My case has been scheduled an interview in July ehich means the KCC does no longer to unlock my 260 to get some changes. I have a question that I made a mistake on my 260. Regarding the highest level of education, I was promoted to a university but not graduated. I should have to choose high school diploma, however, I chose university, no degree.. In that case, will my case be disqualified? Or do I have a chance to change it on the interview date? Thank you very much
June 6, 2018 at 14:22
It isn’t a problem as long as your completed education meets the requirements.
June 6, 2018 at 14:25

June 6, 2018 at 16:59
Hi Brit
What are the documents that the person taking care of in the USA will send?
June 6, 2018 at 20:34
Brit in my ds260 To the question “in which occupation do you intend to work in the US? I answered Legal profession because I studied law is that okay ? I’m scared that saying I want to work in legal profession be a problem
June 6, 2018 at 20:46
No problem.

June 6, 2018 at 23:46
Check once more in October.
June 7, 2018 at 09:58
HI Brit you told him to check also in October that’s why I would like to know how many draws were made in a year?
June 7, 2018 at 14:15
There is sometimes a second draw.
June 6, 2018 at 22:09
Dear Simon myself and my dependant both recently received our DV1 immigrant visa attached to our passports from the US embassy and it expires on the 26 of October.I plan to travel to the US with my dependant in June to activate the green card and return home in St.Lucia to wait on it. As I await the actual greencard can i still use that same temporary visa to travel in July to Turks and caicos?would it still be valid for intransit purposes?
June 6, 2018 at 22:50
The next time you enter the USA your LPR status will activate. You can travel in and out of the USA on your endorsed visa.
June 6, 2018 at 23:07
Hi Simon
2019OC5XX. For various reasons none of the derivatives on my application (I am the primary) wish to immigrate with me. If only my DS260 is submitted and the 3 derivatives remain in an incomplete status will I still receive the 2NL or do all people listed need to submit the DS260?
June 6, 2018 at 23:44
You will still get the 2NL and can be approved.
June 7, 2018 at 00:21
Greetings Simon,
Thank you so very much for all your help.
I am a DV lottery winner from Asia, I am waiting for my interview. When I filled out my Form 260 I didn’t provide my passport number because I haven’t got a passport yet. Do you think this will affect my case processing or interview?
June 7, 2018 at 00:32
No
June 7, 2018 at 01:15
Hi Simon,
I got a green card in May 2017. I activated it in late-September 2017 where i also opened a bank account to hopefulyl show intent that i do intend to reside in the United States. As i have had many duties to fufill overseas such as work contracts, it has been impossible for me to move back and settle in the United States until late August/early september this year.
Do you forsee any problems aside from possible questions from immigration officers when i re-enter?
June 7, 2018 at 01:46
They may ask questions. You won’t know until you meet the IO that day. Prepare whatever you need to demonstrate ties to the USA.
June 7, 2018 at 02:19
Hello Simon,
My case number from AS129** hasn’t went current yet. I want to change my interview Embassy to another country. If I request to change my interview place to a different country, will this delay my interview, I know there is only 2 months left to give interview. Thank you!
June 7, 2018 at 02:20
Will this affect my case processing at all? Thank you for your feedback
June 7, 2018 at 03:25
It may not cause delay if you get on with it, but there can be no guarantee. Procedure is described in the FAQ.
June 7, 2018 at 02:26
Hi britt
‘If i had my parents applied asylum there, and i filled on ds 260 that my parents Are living there, do you think This will affect my.case? Because i think They Are so sensitive about asylum and also it breaks the immigration law. but i already filled the form with honest answers and IM afraid They will ask much about my parents instead of me and Finding a reason to get my DV interview denied. do you Have anyone share This experience?
June 7, 2018 at 03:26
Their case has nothing to do with your case.
June 7, 2018 at 02:28

Would it be possible to get some feedback on why Clovisky got a visa refused, if he/she is okay with it.
If I understood correctly the refusal sections is (as per this page https://www.uscis.gov/ilink/docView/SLB/HTML/SLB/0-0-0-1/0-0-0-29/0-0-0-2006.html)
And section below:
(5) Labor certification and qualifications for certain immigrants.-
(A) Labor certification.-
(i) In general.-Any alien who seeks to enter the United States for the
purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor is inadmissible, unless the
Secretary of Labor has determined and certified to the Secretary of State and
the Attorney General that-
(I) there are not sufficient workers who are able, willing, qualified (or
equally qualified in the case of an alien described in clause (ii)) and
available at the time of application for a visa and admission to the United
States and at the place where the alien is to perform such skilled or unskilled
labor, and
(II) the employment of such alien will not adversely affect the wages and
working conditions of workers in the United States similarly employed.
(ii) Certain aliens subject to special rule.-For purposes of clause (i)(I),
an alien described in this clause is an alien who-
(I) is a member of the teaching profession, or
(II) has exceptional ability in the sciences or the arts.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

You have pasted the standard law – which covers all immigration but is not specific to DV. The refusal code Clovisky quoted (but has not sent me) could be for not meeting education/work experience requirements **OR** doing something wrong in the process. The DV guide is as follows:
“(2) Refusals for Unqualified Applicants: Any applicant for a DV visa who fails to establish that they possess the requisite qualifications, including a valid entry for participation in the DV program, is ineligible under INA 212(a)(5)(A)(i). “

I see. Could you konsult confirm if that was indeed the reason should you get any details from Clovisky.
Thank you in advance
