Actually she is innocent about that we have just married 3yrs ago

Well you are a self admitted liar – so how would I know that’s true?
(see what lying gets you?)

Hello Britsimon! I have entered my confirmation number for the DV Lottery 2020 but the website tells that the number is incorrect although I’m 100% sure it is correct. The problem is when I try to get my confirmation number through”forgot your confirmation number” the system tells me that I have entered wrong data. What to do?!
May 8, 2019 at 23:35
Read point 5 on the link below and read my result checking tips. If you still can’t get it, I will check for you – BUT AGAIN I get people saying this every single year….
May 9, 2019 at 06:02
Dear Britsimon! Thank you for your kind response, but I have checked for my wife and I got clear answer that she has not been selected, but when I followed the same steps for myself the system tells me that I didn’t enter the correct data. Can I send you my confirmation number and other data and you kindly check it for me?! Regards/ Victor
May 9, 2019 at 06:15
I have no magic. Pay special attention to the characters you are entering.
May 9, 2019 at 06:21
Believe me, I did. And the thing is that I have copied all data since I applied on November 3 and I paste it in a word file and saved it on my email, so what I’m doing now is just copy and paste exactly as I did for my wife and siblings. Even when I try to retrieve my data the system tells I have entered wrong data. And that is why I need your help. Regards/ Victor

Hey
I am from Nepal, I had an interview on May 2. But I did not get visa. That time I had submitted I-134 but CO told me to bring I-134 from New person. My question is, Can American sponsor Nepalese??? I have one brothers friend in USA. He is American, he is positive to sponsor me.
May 7, 2019 at 15:46
Any nationality as long as they are legal permanent taxpayers in the USA and earn enough money. Google Britsimon 134.
May 7, 2019 at 15:50
Hi Simon,
My husband won the lottery and at the interview they gave us the DV 221 (g) refusal letter. When I checked the CEAC, our status showed as administrative processing. Few days after the interview they sent an email requesting documents which we sent to them accordingly. On the same day that our package was delivered, the status on CEAC changed to Refused. Since then, it has been one week and the case has been updated three times but status remains Refused. They have not sent me any email or letter. Can you tell me what is going on? What does the updates mean? Is there a chance that they change the status from Refused to AP or Ready?
Thank you!
May 7, 2019 at 16:34
Once a case goes to refused, that is usually final. The only way to know more is ask the embassy – they might already have told you why they were refusing with 221(g).
May 7, 2019 at 16:58
They just needed additional docs to prove a relationship. It is strange that they are able to make such a fast decision on the same day when they received the documents. Do they usually inform us about the final decision by sending an email or letter? How long does that take? Do you know if case updates on CEAC are significant or not? Thank!
May 7, 2019 at 17:30
I don’t know how long they will take to inform you. You can ignore the updates.
May 7, 2019 at 16:01
hello brit
i submit my documents 4 times from march 31to may 4 the kcc sent me always the same message to re-submit documents, yestuday may 6 they sent to me a mail that they have received and thé record indicate i have sent à valid and complet documents. my question is what month can i expect my 2NL ? thanks you very much
May 7, 2019 at 16:36
Maybe by the end of this month, but it could also be end of June. So – July or August interview.
May 7, 2019 at 16:05
Hello Mr Brit ,
I am from Algeria . My interview will be in June . I ve vistied The Uk four times from 2014 to 2017 . The maximum stay in the Uk was 40 days . Will the CO ask me about my visits and will I face a problem ?
May 7, 2019 at 16:38
I doubt it.
May 7, 2019 at 22:19
I didn t understand what you mean
May 7, 2019 at 17:30
Yesterday I called kcc and asked for the documents I sent two weeks ago (22.04) and I did not receive a confirmation that they were OK. they told me they had my documents and that they were processed. Does that mean it can be the next bulletin current? and if it’s current, do I have a chance to interview in July? EU30xxx
May 7, 2019 at 20:48
Maybe. Wait and see.
May 7, 2019 at 18:07
Hi brit, thank you so much for the the updates you provide. However i have a problem when booking for medicals they are requesting for an embassy letter so that they can book me.The question is what is this embassy letter?
Thank you.
May 7, 2019 at 20:55
It is the 2NL they are asking for. You may not be able to access that at the moment unless you took a screenshot.

hello Brit Good day ,please i wish to verify something to you,i played the DV 2020 Lotery on the 4th of October 2018 but i went online to do some research about it and read some where that only individuals who participated during the registration period from 20th october 2018 to november 6th 2018 are eligible to check their results wheras registration started on october 3rd,please clearify me does it mean it was canceled and relaunched???/
May 7, 2019 at 20:47
Update. You are looking at the older year, which was redrawn. Just check your result, it should work (for dv2020).
May 7, 2019 at 20:58
BUT WHY WHEN I REGISTERED WITHIN THE REGISTRATION PERIOD???
May 7, 2019 at 21:01
Hi gwembo
Actually wat happened dat tym was that there was some kinda problem due to dat they had asked everyone to put in their entries again on 20th ….if u had provided an email..it would hve appear….
May 7, 2019 at 22:14
For DV2020 your 4th October 2018 entry is valid… Best of Luck…
The problem was DV2019…

Hello Brit. I need help. Winner of DV 2019 CS EU28k and probably current with the next VISA bulletin in few days. I have to go to Dallas on the weekend for a week. Since I’m in the middle of the DV program, I asked my employer to check wether it’s legal to go there (I will be using the ESTA). They contacted the KCC who said that when I come back (probably the 19th of May) I have to email them asking to unlock the DS260 so I can update it adding this visit in the states.
Now, I’ve seen from here https://britsimonsays.com/faq/how-do-i-unlock-my-ds260/ that “KCC will not unlock your form once your case has been scheduled” which could happen in my case.
How should I behave? Should I contact KCC myself? Thank you.
May 7, 2019 at 23:54
You do not have to update.
May 8, 2019 at 08:24
That’s what the KCC said to employer. Could you please tell me why is that so? Thanks.
May 8, 2019 at 16:57
KCC staff don’t always give accurate answers.

Hi Brithsimons,
I am a green card holder and I am living in the US. I just moved from one state to another, one month ago. Is I need to report this change in my address to USCIS. I read on the internet that I should submit my address within ten days. I moved since one month. Is it a problem?
Appreciating
May 7, 2019 at 23:55
10 days is what they want but just do it now.
May 7, 2019 at 22:26
My sister was denied the visa. I am so sad. Reason neing she needs education to backup her years of experience. She has another experience. Is there a way to resubmit please?
May 8, 2019 at 00:00
She can re-enter the lottery in another year if she meets the requirements.
May 7, 2019 at 23:06
Good afternoon Brit,
If I overstayed my b1/b2 visa and then won the DV lottery, what are my options?
May 8, 2019 at 00:04
Start obeying the laws of the country if you want to take advantage of it other laws of the country!
If you overstayed long enough you will have incurred a ban and then you basically messed yourself up.
May 8, 2019 at 00:25

Dear BritSimon,
I am currently looking for a software engineering job opportunity with work visa sponsorship in the USA. I am also knowledgeable in WebRTC now, as I am now working on real-time communication technology.
Some of the visa options applicable to me are as follows:
1) O1 visa (extraordinary ability visa). I have a PhD with publications and granted patent.
2) L1 visa (company internal-transfer visa). I am willing to work in one of the branch offices overseas for a year before being moved to the office in USA.
3) H1* visa (foreign skilled professional visa).
Please download my always up-to-date resume from my website: https://adaickalavan.github.io/cv/
For your reference, my portfolio section (https://adaickalavan.github.io/portfolio) contains a list of work representing various stages of my career, with the latest being titled “Scalable Deployment in Kubernetes” (https://adaickalavan.github.io/portfolio/scalable_deployment_kubernetes/).
I decided to contact you after reading “About BritSimon – a brief biography” section in your website. I realized that you had moved successfully from UK to USA with a H1B work visa sponsorship from a company. I hope you could similarly help me with any possible job opening with work visa sponsorship in the USA.
1) How do I find companies that provide work visa sponsorship in USA?
2) How did you find your company?
3) Are there any open software engineering roles in your current company, to which you could recommend me to?
4) Could you suggest or recommend me to any companies in the USA who are hiring with work visa sponsorship?
I have tried applying to numerous companies in the USA through various job sites, but with no luck thus far.
Eagerly awaiting your response. Any reply is much appreciated.
Apologies for posting my request here, as I did not know how else I could get in contact with you. I did not know your email address, thus I could not email you my query.
Thank you,
Adai.

Hi simon, I just have a question about dv2020.
so my brother has won the dv2020 and he is MARRIED and he applied as a single but got married after applying. and now he wants to come to the usa alone without he is wife. is it going to be a problem if he sent the DS260 as a SINGLE ? and he can apply for her a year later after he comes to the usa by I-130… because it is going to be much more difficult for him to build a life her if he brought his wife with him from the beginning. THANK YOU
May 8, 2019 at 02:51
No he cannot put single because that would be a blatant lie! He must fill the DS260 as married, and if the spouse does not want to travel he can sponsor her later (although that is foolish).
May 8, 2019 at 15:59
So if I filed that my spouse is immigrating at a later date to the usa to join me. Do I need to file a ds260 for her in addition to my ds260 ? Thank you in advance
May 8, 2019 at 19:58
It depends how much later you want her to join you. If it is within a few months, fill in the DS260. If it is longer than that you will have to follow an I-130 process which is more expensive and complicated, and will take 2 years.

Brit, it seems that result entry check for dv2020 has not began responding? It keep reading: server not found.
May 8, 2019 at 03:21
Not a surprise at all. Wait a few hours…
May 8, 2019 at 03:25
Hello Mr Brit ,
According to my question about visiting the Uk and you say you doubt it . Someone from Algeria told me that he visited France many times and stayed there more than 2 months each time but he got his visa without problem . Please try to clarify this point ?
May 8, 2019 at 03:42
First – if you hit reply I don’t have to waste my time trying to understanf the context. I am busy!
Next – I think I was asked if it was a problem and I said I doubt it – meaning probably not a problem. Please read my replies properly to respect my time. Really – I am VERY busy!

Brit, have you ever heard of someone not being admitted at POE with their immigrant visa? This probably cannot happen if everything was done correctly by the Embassy and the right fees were paid… assuming that they entered the US before the visa expiration date.
May 8, 2019 at 16:14
No – it is extremely rare.
May 8, 2019 at 22:02
Hi Brit,
I had my immigrant interview on April 17 and it was approved. My case status has been showing “issued” since April 30th and I still haven’t been contacted to pick up my passport. Is it supposed to take that long after the visa has been issued?
Thank you.

Hello there,
Is it necessary to send to copy of divorce certificate to KCC if the principal applicant has the second marriage?
I see this document is out of the list what KCC asks to send on email, but as we know we have to provide that during the interview, therefore I wanna make sure it again.
Thanks in advance for your replies guys….

Just send what is on the list. Take other needed docs to the interview.

Hi there Britt,
So I have applied and got chosen for the 2020 diversity Visa. Now when I applied, I thought I had finished all my courses for high school but I didn’t. But have completed a diploma and 2 years at university, but I do have the option to finish the last credits and pass what we call here ‘NCEA level 3’ and gain UE here in New Zealand. Now it would be through online school, but It will still be equivalent to year 12 USA and it would be the full-courses and not like a ‘GED’ and when we get the certificate, it just say achieved level 3 and the credits at the back, but not when completed, will this still be okay?
Thanks
Dufty
May 8, 2019 at 17:04
I think I already answered another similar question from you.
Just to be clear though, even if you make up the classes, there will be risk because you achieved the requirement outside a “formal course of study”. However, complete the HS and you have a chance – along with some risk with a picky officer.
May 8, 2019 at 09:25
Sir,
When someone registering for Dv lottery and uploading photo. If in the right side of photo it will be shown like that ✅.
Does it mean photo is completely correct and relevant for requirements?
May 8, 2019 at 17:06
No. It could be a photo of a donkey’s arse. Technical aspects don’t mean it is “completely correct”.
May 8, 2019 at 18:23
No Sir i am talking about the photo of real person. My main question is does it mean the photo is true size?
May 8, 2019 at 22:26
I think you mean proportions. No.

If my sister and I both applied for the lottery but only she got selected for further processing can she include me in her DS-260 as a sibling in order for me to be able to potentially attend the interview with her and get a green card? Or would my name have to get called out separately?
Thanks in advance.
May 8, 2019 at 11:20
Nope, she can include only her husband and child
May 8, 2019 at 17:17
No – she cannot include you in any way.
May 8, 2019 at 13:09
Brit, 2019 winner here. I’ve been asked to send my scanned documents but unfortunately, I realized I had a birthday difference between the passport and birth certificate after I submitted the ds260 according to the passport(wrong birthday) and was unable to re-open since. Now, I’ve fixed my passport but not sure which one to send to KCC.
1. Should I send the new passport ignoring the birthday and passport number difference in the ds260?
2. Or shall I send both explaining the matter ?

May 8, 2019 at 16:27
Hi Brit Simon,
first I want to thank you for your all your help.
So my question is: I’ve a sister who was selected for dv2020 with a CN = AF***62000 (62k).
do you think that the dv2020 will be current for AF region?
because i’ve seen in the previous years that if 2 or 3 consecutive years finishing with a cutoff the following year is always current.
So it’s will be nice if I can have your prediction.
Thank you.
May 8, 2019 at 20:00
It is far too early to know.
May 8, 2019 at 16:39
I have case number something like 10000. Do I have probablity to get viza? Please explain me
May 8, 2019 at 20:03
First, the number is meaningless without the year and region.
Second, it is too early to know something…
May 8, 2019 at 19:16
Hello,
I have won dv2020 but I got an issue filing my ds-260. So first of all, I applied to the lottery as SINGLE on October 2018, then before the results comes up this month, I got married on March 2019. The problem is now I want to come alone without my wife to the US which means while filing my ds-260 I will note that my wife is NOT immigrating with me to the US, also that my wife is NOT immigrating later to the US on a later date. So after checking these 2 questions by NO, Do I still need to file a seperate DS-260 for her as well or no ?
Thank you in advance
May 8, 2019 at 22:34
I think I already answered you on another question. But I suggest you slow down – there is no need to rush your DS260.
May 8, 2019 at 19:36
hi Mr Simon, my friend was selected yesterday with the DV 2020, on his letter it says country of cheargeability Congo while he was born in Rwanda, but holds Congolese passport and nationality, i think it was supposed to be written: state foreign cheargeability: Rwanda in stead of Congo Kinshasa. and is that a mistake made while selecting the country? and is there any concern about it on the interview with the CO?
May 8, 2019 at 22:41
The mistake would have been made by him on the original entry. However, as both countries are in the same region it should not be a problem. The FAQ answers that – please read it.
May 8, 2019 at 20:58
Simon,
This isn’t a question, but rather a comment your post on how to complete the status check.
You never mentioned it, but it should be noted that the entries are case sensitive, as in must be capitalized as sent to you, at least according to KCC. I may have been misinformed, so if you know different for a fact, let everyone know.
Also, you should inform everyone what message to expect if you’re not found or entered something wrong, as in does is still say “NOT SELECTED” or something else. In other words, is “not selected” conclusive or can it also mean “can’t compute”?
May 8, 2019 at 22:58
The site has instructions about how to enter the code.
“Not selected” means exactly what it says.
May 8, 2019 at 21:31
Dear Mr Simon,
In My DS-260 I have selected to live with my friend in Utah. He was supposed to be my sponsor, However He changed his mind. I have 2NL, and I have other sponsor who is willing to sponsor me, but he lives in Texas. Can I change the permanent address in the interview? or is it ok to leave have the permanent address in Utah, and my sponsor in Texas?
Thanks
May 8, 2019 at 23:05
The address you list is where the GC will be sent. So – update that if you want at the interview.
May 8, 2019 at 23:30
Can I leave it in Utah, and My sponsor in Texas?
Thank you.
May 8, 2019 at 23:40
With an I-134, yes.
May 8, 2019 at 21:38
Hello briit..Can europe go current next bulletin
May 8, 2019 at 23:06
Possibly. Wait and see.
May 8, 2019 at 22:09
Sir i think my question will be forgotten because of a lot of questions so i want to ask again. If when uploading photo the right side is like that ✅ does it mean photo size is 100% true?
May 8, 2019 at 23:09
Sure, wait until the busiest day of the frickin year then start repeating questions you asked a couple of hours ago. That really pleases me when you do that. Thanks.
May 8, 2019 at 22:21
Hi Brit,
First of all I want to thank you for the effort you put into your website to keep it up to date. I’m a German citizen and actually won in the GC lottery (DV 2020). I’m kind of “scared” to be happy about that because I think I got a really high Case Number (000305XX). Unfortunately, I’m not able to check last year’s cut-off number. Do you think there is a proper chance for me to get an interview appointment?
Also, why is it seen as too late when you get your interview appointment in September?
Thank you.
May 8, 2019 at 23:30
Congratulations. Your number isn’t crazily high, there are EU numbers in the 50XXX range. However, it is too early to know for sure. In a few weeks and months we will know more, but this is a LONG process – so no need to know everything today. Please look at the lottery guide linked above, read the FAQ, and hold off submitting your DS260 for now until you understand more.
All processing for DV2020 will stop on September 30, 2020 – so if your last question is about September 2020 it is simply because there is very little time for AP after an interview in that month. AP is for additionaly background checks where necessary. Anyway – you have at least 1 year to wait – so there is plenty of time for you to learn more over the coming months.
May 8, 2019 at 23:11
Hi Brit,
I have gone for my interview and consular approved and asked me to wait for 10 days to be notified to pick up my package. However it has been 2 months without any feedback. I keep contacting the embassy and i keep getting the respond it’s in AP which i understand. What bothers me is that, i havent received any email asking for further detaisl neither did the consular indicate otherwise.
I have read the FAQS which indicates i should be instructed to provide further documents or be informed by the consular however that hasnt been my case either.
I would like to know if there is an issue and a cause for worry, and what i can do
Thanks
May 8, 2019 at 23:45
If they wanted additional documents they would ask you. If they haven’t, they don’t want anything. All you can do is wait.

Hi Brit please is there going to be another 2nd batch draw for the 2020?

Well it is too early to know for certain, but judging by the very high case numbers being reported – no.

Hey Brit, it’s me again.
The site is now open and I have filled in my number as it is written on the confirmation page I printed the day I sent in my entry. They keep telling me the number is invalid… it is supposed to be 16characters( it is 16characters. Pls, what should I do? Here’s the number 20207EVLMLPLGH5R.
Thanks

hi brit a question, my appointment is for july but my passport expires in december, there may be a rejection by the pasapote because they are 6 months of validity

Renew your passport and take both to the embassy.

the validity of passport is it 8 month or 6 month?
May 9, 2019 at 01:45
It’s written on the passport.
However you probably mean how long a validity do you need after entry – and that is generally stated as 6 months.

Hi! Great blog. I was selected in dv2020, and I want to know from when I can start filling the DS260. The instructions on the site only speak of the 2019 DS260. My case number does not have any zeros in them in the first place, and it says invalid when I put it in the DS260 form

Hi Brit
I trust that you are well.
Could you kindly help me with with information on how to request for a new confirmation number .
I have been trying it out on the dvlottery.state.gov but I am not getting any new confirmation number as yet.
