Hi,Brit. I am very grateful for helping us out with DV issues.
With fingers crossed we are still hoping that things might change before September 30th.
We know all regions are current, now case numbers don’t matter.
My question, will they take into consideration those people who had their documents submitted earlier.
June 10, 2020 at 22:51
Only people whose documents are processed. My guess is a lot of people think they submitted documents, but failed to submit correctly.
If on the other hand there are a lot of cases with processed documents, KCC might have to retrogress case numbers on the VB.

Hi, I have won the lottery! I was just wondering, does my number is low enough (EU 21XXX)? I watched your video explaining how the draw works and if I understood it, my number seems fine?
Thanks a lot!
June 10, 2020 at 22:49
Fine.
June 10, 2020 at 06:22
Hi Simon,
I have a couple of questions, would appreciate if you answer them:
1. we went to the US with B1/B2 type visa. my daughter and I got B1/B2 type visa. in the ds260, I entered my daughter visa as only B2, not B1/B2. should I contact KCC to modify this?
2. we changed the spelling of my daughter name. Only one alphabet in the “spelling” is changed. I forgot to mention that in DS260, where it is needed to provide all previous names. She also had a passport based on the name with different spelling. Should I also mention this?
3. I have a PhD, and only mentioned my education backward until college, and not high school. is it necessary also to include highschool? if yes, do I need to provide the original document?
4. my case number is 2021AS28xx, we have already filled and sent ds260. if we contact KCC for above modifications, do you think our place in the line would be delayed? because we would like to get interview appointment ASAP.
5. Based on our case number, do you think we can get the interview appointment in Oct or latest Nov?
Thanks in advance for your help.
June 10, 2020 at 22:49
1. Doesn’t matter.
2. You should unlock for that.
3. Some COs will be picky about that, but it’s rare. Take everything to the interview. Unlock and correct if you want.
4. Maybe. There might be delays anyway because of embassy closures and the effect on DV2020.
5. Not guaranteed – again – DV2020 work will probably slow things down.
June 10, 2020 at 06:09
Some said that once the visa bulletin becomes “Current”, it is the submission date of DS260 that will determine the interview date (first come, first serve), not the case number. It that true?
June 10, 2020 at 22:41
No its not true.
June 10, 2020 at 05:33
Hi Brit,
My case number is 2021AS 27K.
My country of birth is United Arab Emirates but i have been residing in India. My DOB in India is 1989 in passport and all other records. But my birth certificate issued in UAE has 1988 as DOB. Shall i apply for a new passport with DOB matching my DOB certificate and proceed?
And how soon should i fill in the DS-260 given i need to reapply for the passport?
While entering the DV form i entered the details as in passport i.e DOB as 1989.
Please suggest me how to move forward with this.In India there is no concept of DV so none of the consultancies have idea about this category of visa.Your help will greatly be appreciated in addressing my query.
Thanks for answering.
June 10, 2020 at 22:32
Number questions please.
1. If you have mistakes on official documents, get the documents corrected.
2. No need to rush – your case number is high anyway so you have a long time to wait.
3. Why did you use the Indian DOB??? Surely the UAE one is correct?
June 11, 2020 at 07:02
Thanks for replying Sir .
The reason i used Indian DOB was to match the data with the passport. UAE is the correct one though but i didnt have that on my passport.
June 11, 2020 at 21:41
So don’t make a mistake worse by telling a lie!!!
June 10, 2020 at 05:28
Hi Simon,
Really appreciate all your help.
My case number is 2021OC0000001X. Am I best to fill and submit my DS260 right away due to the low case number? Or could applying straight away cause problems if consulates are still closed come September? Also, the country I live in today is different to what I submitted on my form. Will that be an issue?
Thanks!!
June 10, 2020 at 22:27
No problems anywhere.
File soon if you want a fast process, but it’s no problem to wait and cause yourself a delay if you prefer. Either way is fine.
June 10, 2020 at 05:17
Hi,
I have a pending i-130 (marriage based, recently filed) and won the dv lottery cn eu36xx while in the us. If I will not have received a decision on my i-130 by the time my number becomes current, can i file for the dv lottery?will that affect my i-130 application negatively?
Thank you
June 10, 2020 at 22:26
Yes you can, no it won’t.
June 10, 2020 at 05:17
Hey there!
2 questions:
1) when they ask if I have ever been refused à US visa, USCIS did refuse a I-140 from my sponsor submitted last year. I don’t think it counts as a visa?
2) have you ever been issued a us visa? Does the I-94W form counts? That’s the one you get when you travel from Canada to the us and you are not a Canadian citizen nor an American citizen. I don’t think it’s a visa per se. More like a travel record. (Via the visa waiver program) Obviously ESTA is same?
Thanks so much!
June 10, 2020 at 22:25
1. No.
2. Also not a visa.
June 10, 2020 at 22:52
Thank you!!!
June 10, 2020 at 05:14
Hi Simon,
I am 27 and I have not completed a Senior Certificate (Year 12). However, I have completed a ‘Certificate 4 in Business’ which is equivalent here in Australia.
Will the the US recognise this as sufficient for entry? (From OC)
June 10, 2020 at 22:22
I don’t know whether that is considered general education or vocational. So – I don’t know if it meets the requirements or not.
June 10, 2020 at 03:28
Hi Simon,
I have won the 2021 lottery from Australia, with what I think is a lower case number 2021OC6XX.
When I applied for the Visa I had used my old passport which expired June 1st 2020, I am currently awaiting my new passport which is due to arrive in the next three weeks. What passport do I use for my DS-260 application? The one I applied with which is now invalid or my new one? Will waiting a further 3 weeks to complete the application until I receive my new passport matter?
Thanks so much in advanced! I did try to look to see If you had answered a similar question so my apologies if you already have.
P.S this site is amazing and has already been a huge help with getting me this far- Thank you!
Thanks
Sophia
June 10, 2020 at 03:52
Use the new one and take old and new to the interview.
June 10, 2020 at 02:59
Hello Mr. Simon. I am trying to check entry status for someone in Akra Iraq. The internet reception is not good there.
I think I have discovered why I keep getting an error message. The letter I on the original entry form is made like a Roman column with a head and a foot. My keyboard will not make that lind of letter. What can I do?
June 10, 2020 at 03:45
That is simply the letter I.
June 10, 2020 at 02:55
Hello, my cousin won the dv lottery but his wife isn’t ready to travel abroad yet. Can he elect to travel alone even though he declared he was married when he played and will he still need to upload proof of marriage
June 10, 2020 at 03:42
Yes & Yes
June 10, 2020 at 02:48
hi mr.BritSimon
i completed filling the ds-260 and at the end before submit and sign.
it did not accept the case number with zeros until i removed them and It has been accepted.
is that normal or should i email them to unlock the ds-260 to correct it with zeros .
thank you
June 10, 2020 at 03:42
Normal.
I keep trying to tell people…

June 10, 2020 at 02:29
Hello Simon. What happen if I do not remember which passport I used in the DV registration ? I have two. But my country of chargeability matches my birth place which is shown in both passports. What can I do?
June 10, 2020 at 03:41
User either passport.
June 10, 2020 at 02:22
Hi Simon. My wife got selected for DV2021. Her country of birth is Venezuela but she has two nationalities. The second one is Portuguese. The country of chargeablity is Venezuela and she filled the application with the Venezuelan passport. Based on the fact that her Venezuelan passport expires on September 2021 and it is almost impossible to get a passport from that country (communist). Should she fill the DS260 form with her Portuguese passport or the Venezuelan one ?
Thank you so much in advance.
June 10, 2020 at 03:39
Doesn’t matter which she uses.
June 10, 2020 at 02:11
Hi Simon, for DV-2021 I have the numner SA25XX. Do you think it’s a long shot? For what I saw in previous years, SA never made it over 1700/1800.
Thank you!
June 10, 2020 at 03:39
Too early to say for sure.
June 10, 2020 at 11:20
Thank you! We got really excited with the confirmation, after seeing your videos and checking the bulletin numbers for SA since 2015, we realized 25XX was really high. What do you think regarding that? Should we keep our expectations really low? We were about to start the paperwork for an L1 visa and we don’t want to Put everything on hold for more than a year just because of a really (almost impossible) shot.
Thank you again
June 10, 2020 at 23:39
It is too early to know how high that number is. Wait until we have selectee counts in a month or two.
June 10, 2020 at 01:45
Dear Simon,
I have a bit different question as I’m a lucky winner of last years lottery, have already been to America and almost…got my green card. This ‘almost’ is my issue and I’m hopeful if you could give me any advice on my situation as I’m really desperate.
I’m a student who is about to graduate next year so obviously, I couldn’t move to America straight away when I got aproved in the end of the last year. My aunt agreed to be my sponsor. I was really grateful for her help but now she is ruining everything!
As it’s a requirment to put american address to receive the card-I had to put hers (I live in London). My card came in December and I was supposed to go to Chicago in march, however we know how coronavirus ruined everything. I asked her multiple times to post card to me but essentialy-she refuses. She was telling me multiple times that she’s going to do it and she has never done it. She stops replying to me for weeks and then she comes back saying she is about to send it. The same lie I hear since couple of months!
I lost hope she will send my ID and don’t know what to do, especially because now when traveling is not possible.
Please tell me if you have any idea what I could do… I don’t have more money to pay another 500$ to get a replacement. I’m not sure if US London embassy could be of any help.
I know it’s not a field of your practice but I’m hopeless at this stage. Desperately looking for an advice…
And once again thank you for all the help that you provided, even though I still can’t touch my card, if it wasn’t for and your blog I probably would never get to that stage.
All the best
June 10, 2020 at 03:35
Your entry visa lasts for 1 year from the initial entry. If you can travel within that time you could go and retrieve your card.
If you have to replace it – you will pay. There is no reason the embassy will help with that.
I would have your family talk to your aunt, and failing that – arrive at her address and get the card.
June 10, 2020 at 00:51
Greetings Brit Simon? I am a DV2021 winner. My question is about I-134 from. Must the sponsor be related to the person he/she is sponsoring? I have a I-134 sponsor he is a family friend. Second Question. The sponsor is based in California but i am planning to put Minnesota as my address while filling out the DS260 form. Please advice should i put the address of my sponsor or the address in MN on my DS260 from. Thank you in advance.
June 10, 2020 at 03:28
Sponsor can be anyone (US citizen or LPR), anywhere in the USA.

June 10, 2020 at 06:06
Thanks Brit for your advise
My question is can i requestto unlock the Ds260 for the principal selectee, spouse, and child in the same email.
Or emaill kcc to first unlock mine then email kcc to unlock for my spouse and then email to unlock for my child
My case number is 2021AF74XXX and from uganda.when can i fill in the ds260
Thank you very much
June 10, 2020 at 22:41
If you provide a well detailed email, being very clear, it is possible they unlock with one email. Otherwise try more. But if you have not completed the DS260 already why are you asking about unlocking???
Your number is high, I would suggest you wait until we know more about selectee numbers.
June 9, 2020 at 23:11
I’m a 2020 dv lottery winner. I have a few questions to you. When will the American consulates be opened? My case number is 49xxx. Can I get an interview date? Thank you …
June 11, 2020 at 02:00
We don’t know when the embassies will reopen.
June 9, 2020 at 23:10
Hi Simon, My daughter has us passport shall i add applicant for her
June 9, 2020 at 23:14
No need. Just make sure she is listed on your own DS260s
June 10, 2020 at 07:36
List her in the applications of both parents or only the main applicant? Also If I used Medicaid to cover for the delivery costs, Do you think this might affect the process of getting the immigrant visa?
Thank you very much.
June 10, 2020 at 23:07
Both DS260s.
Sometimes COs ask how you paid for the delivery costs. Whether that will cause denial or not, I don’t know.
June 9, 2020 at 22:28
Hi Simon. Im from albania, dv 2020 cn 49xxx. My passport expire on may 2021. What should i do if i make a new passport? Should unlock ds260 or only notify embassy for the renew of the passport?
June 9, 2020 at 22:53
Take old and new passports to the interview.
June 9, 2020 at 21:49
Hi Simon, I am from Ghana and I would like to enter for the draw of the DV Lottery this year.. I have a Higher National Diploma (H.N.D) in Building Technology from a technical university. Please I would like to know the educational status to choose when filling the forms. thanks
June 9, 2020 at 22:23
Some university.
June 10, 2020 at 07:34
thanks Sir.
June 10, 2020 at 00:15
Don’t you have have SSce or wAssce? You have submit the HND at the interview if you are fortunate your case will go to further administration process your cert will be verified before the visa will be granted
June 10, 2020 at 07:36
I have the Wassce Cert but my current educational level I have now is the HND
June 9, 2020 at 21:47
Dear BriSimon,
first of all, thank you providing us all the information on your site!
1. Our case is 2021AS4XXX (country of birth: iran) but we live in germany ?
2. My wife won the lottery but only i earn money, she has bachelor degree but no work. I m getting my PHD this year and was never unemployed, we have both dual citizenship (german / iranian), i m living in germany since the age of 9, my wife for 6 years now. Do we have a chance to win (Iranians are banned)?
3. Today i ve submitted the Ds-260, should i have waited?
Thank you very much for your time!
June 9, 2020 at 22:23
1. That’s normal.
2. You will be exempted from the ban if you use and travel on German passports.
3. Only as long as it takes to not screw up the application.
June 9, 2020 at 21:26
Hmmmm Brit , unfortunately I was not selected on my first attempt . But I will still persist. I will not give up!
Some few questions to ask?
1. Were members from band countries selected? If yes will they be removed to creat space for second draw?
2. People who entered with expired
and without passportt, were some selected?
3. Can you say in case there is a second draw, we should expect more intake to fill the spaces created?
4. Can there be more intake for DV2021 than 50k routine selectees due to the issue of dv2020?
I really love ‘ your’ word, patience.
Thanks
June 9, 2020 at 22:20
1. Yes – but they overselect anyway, so there might not be more winners needed.
2. Yes, same answer as 1.
3. 2nd draw cases start with numbers higher than 1st draw cases.
4. Not sure I understand your question. DV2021 is unrelated to DV2020.
June 9, 2020 at 23:13
So if I understand you correctly on the answer for 1, those of us who were not selected at all should count ourselves out in case there comes a second draw in September ?
Thanks
June 9, 2020 at 21:26
Hello Simon
May u pls correct me if l am wrong am a winner of dv2021 with a seemingly high case number for my region. a lot of pipo are discouraging me to fill in the ds 260 form as soon as possible with regard to my case number but after listening to ur video on case number selection and holes that get created isnt it safe for one just to fill in the form as well as have all relevant documents ready incase things go faster than predicted?
What is the disadvantage of filling in the ds260 earlier if u have a high case number
Is the selection of case numbers to be interviewed also linked to the DS 260 application received by KCC.
second question is when will the first intake get published thats in reference to past years?
June 9, 2020 at 22:18
Don’t you think it would be easier for me to answer if you gave me the region/number??? I had to look it up from an earlier question.
Submitting a DS260 is a “declaration of immigrant intent”. So if your number is too high to get an interview, then you might find it makes future NIV applications more difficult.
Also – it will be around 1 year before you are interviewed – so why enter the info that early and then try and keep it updated.
Lastly people that rush before they understand the process tend to make mistakes.
June 9, 2020 at 21:20
Dear Mr. Brit
First, I wanna thank you for all the efforts you are doing in order to help, provide advises and information to people in need.
Here is my situation, my wife had been selected for the DV- Lottery 2021 when submitting the DV entry she added me and our daughter which everything is good. However, our daughter is an us citizens i read on the DV-2021 instruction that she wont be issued a Diversity Visa (LOGIC) and we will not be penalized for either including or omitting such family members from the entry.
Now, when we sign in order to fill in the DS260, on the applicant page there is the principal applicant (wife),
accompany (spouse ) and accompany (child ). common sens states that we don’t have to fill in the DS260 for the daughter so my question is should we just fill in our DS260 and submit or do we have to contact the KCC and ask to remove the daughter application.
Much Appreciated
June 9, 2020 at 22:10
Just don’t complete her DS260. They won’t remove the link.
June 9, 2020 at 20:57
Hi Simon,
My friend called KCC today and they informed him that dv2020 might be cancel, they are not sure yet (no official announcement) but most probably
Do you have any idea about it?
June 9, 2020 at 22:06
That is untrue and you should not spread such a silly rumor based on second hand info which is probably BS.
However, there is no date set for reopening embassies, so it is clear that many will miss out.
June 9, 2020 at 20:34
Hi Simon,
I am citizen of Nepal and recently selected for DV lottery 2021. My case no is 2021AS5XXX. Currently I am in Norway for my higher studies and now I am little bit confused weather I should proceed my application from hear or go back to my country Nepal for further processing. Is there any difference or risk to do processing from outside of country of citizen? And also I have already been refused non-immigrant US visa couple of times previously (visa denial under INA section 214(b) mean), Does that affects on my securing green card? Thanks.
June 9, 2020 at 22:01
1. Process where you live.
2. No
June 9, 2020 at 20:30
Anyone got their confirmation today?
Brit, I’ve taken into account your advise and sent my documents again
June 9, 2020 at 20:48
Hello BritSimon,
When I submitted my entry I uploaded a photo that was older than 6 months (it was 2,5 years old). However, my appearance was not any different from what it is today.
How serious is this mistake?
June 9, 2020 at 22:04
Well its silly to ignore the instructions, but you might be OK.
June 10, 2020 at 06:22
I haven’t received it yet. What do you think is documents processing going or it stoped?
June 9, 2020 at 20:27
Dear Simon
I’m winner of lottery 2020
I attended interview on Cairo last January me and my family members.
Since then I’m AP and still don’t know when it will be solved.
I’m now in Qatar for my work and due to travel restrictions I cannot travel back to Cairo to renew my medical examination as my medical will be expired on 24 June
Can I attend medical examination here in Qatar with the approved medical center by the embassy here in Qatar and send it back to Egypt after that by DHL ?
Thanks
June 9, 2020 at 22:00
No. Once they reopen, if your AP clears you will have to go back to do the medical.
June 9, 2020 at 19:38
Dear Simon,
Thanks you so much for all your help! We truly appreciate it!
I have a question regarding the documents that have to be sent to KCC: the police certificate is for the selectee or it has to be submitted for the selectee and each one of the derivatives in case they’re older 16?
Thank you in advance!
June 9, 2020 at 21:58
The latter. PLease read the instructions – if you had that would have been clear.
June 9, 2020 at 19:34
Hi, I won the DV2021 EU30XXX. My question is the following, I have two last names, but I only wrote the first one, because the field said last name in singular. Is this correct? or should I have written the two last names? Thank you!
June 9, 2020 at 21:57
Your DS260 should have the full legal name.
June 9, 2020 at 22:06
Thank you!
June 9, 2020 at 19:16
Hey simon,
I am DV21 selectee, I didn’t find out about your blog until I submited my ds260 form. my case number seem to be high 2021AF65XXXX. I am seeing in your comments for those with higher number that we should wait before submitting. can you elaborate? Thanks.
June 9, 2020 at 21:56
Submitting a DS260 is a “declaration of immigrant intent”. So if your number is too high to get an interview, then you might find it makes future NIV applications more difficult.
Also – it will be around 1 year before you are interviewed – so why enter the info that early and then try and keep it updated.
Lastly people that rush before they understand the process tend to make mistakes.
June 10, 2020 at 20:56
Is there anything to do to “cancel” and resubmit later?
I believe that the only thing I rushed is the ds260 form. I now almost understand the whole process from your blog and videos.
What do you recommend to do in my situation? Thanks man!
June 11, 2020 at 01:01
No. Once submitted it cannot be retracted, canceled or anything.
June 10, 2020 at 01:03
As you may have heard, what is the highest case number in recent years?
June 10, 2020 at 03:29
Completely pointless question.

hi I am from Ethiopia
I have been selected but I have got a problem, the problem is
when I was applying for the DV 2021 I filled educational level with
university degree hoping to be graduated in June but unfortunately
corona came up and our university postponed the graduation time for an unknown period of time.
so what do you suggest me to do? please i need your help!
June 9, 2020 at 21:52
Complete the DS260 with all education undertaken and the highest education completed.
June 10, 2020 at 19:47
thank you, Simon
so it will not be a problem if fill DS260 with currently tacking some university courses?
June 11, 2020 at 00:56
No.
June 11, 2020 at 09:02
I am sorry Simon but I am confused, would you elaborate a little more
1.when do I need to have the degree certificate on hand?
what is the timeline based on the DV process?
2 .should I change my education status from university degree to some university courses at the time of filling the DS 260?
3.will changing the educational status be a problem?
thanks for your patience
June 11, 2020 at 22:09
You REALLY need to read the instructions.
1. At the interview.
2. It’s not an important selection. Just pick what you think is most accurate.
3. No.
June 9, 2020 at 18:34
Dear Brit,
I am a winner of DV2020 and my interview was canceled in April.
I am also a winner of DV2021 and with a low CN (lowe than 5000(
I really dont know hot to proceed.
Should i continue with the DS260 for 2021?
If yes when do you think will be the best time?
Regards
June 9, 2020 at 21:46
Why don’t you wait for a while to see what happens in DV2020.
June 9, 2020 at 18:32
Hello mr. Simon
I am working in a military ship as a civilian doctor. In ds260 form there is question ”Have you ever served in the military?” Since i have no rank(if i answer yes it asks rank/position) and i am civilian, i thought this question is about soldiers and military officers etc. And i said no to this question. Should i change it?
June 9, 2020 at 18:33
thanks in advance and for your great effort
June 9, 2020 at 21:45
“Civilian”.
June 10, 2020 at 11:32
Sorry i didnt get it. You mean i am not a civilian or is that a wrong word? You are the expert can you please tell me should i change it or not?
June 10, 2020 at 23:41
A civilian is not in the military.
June 9, 2020 at 17:49
Hi. Can I submit ds260 without passport, because my passport isn’t ready yet.
June 9, 2020 at 21:41
There is another option on the form. But do you really need to rush???
June 10, 2020 at 00:10
My case is 42xxx. I’ve to submit the ds260 form if it’s possible and when I’ll get the passport I’ll reopon and add it. I need your advice it’s urgent.

You are not telling me the year or region.
June 11, 2020 at 12:03
Case no is AF 42xxx, Dv21.
June 11, 2020 at 23:56
So it’s not urgent at all! You have months to wait. Get your passport, then submit.
June 10, 2020 at 10:55
Hi Brit, greetings from my end.i submitted my DS 260 on 05/17/2019 and documents on 10/24/2019 .in February i emailed kcc to ask if they were satisfied with my documents and i got the usual automatic replies to wait until i become current .in April again i did email them and they told me my DS 260 has been processed and nothing abt my documents.on monday few days bak i called them and a lady told me my documents were in another department. Now my worry is that i know of a friend and sister that received documents confirmation email on 06/ 04 /2020 some few days back and her CN is 699**.i have been wondering why they have skipped me from 644** to 70*** .For the benefit of doubt, is it wise for me to send my documents again to be on a saved side since we’re already running out of time Or i keep calling them ?
June 10, 2020 at 11:08
I’m sorry Brit my cn is 2020AF00064*** .thanks for understandx
June 10, 2020 at 23:34
Call them again in another week. No one is “safe” – there is not enough time to interview all the remaining cases.

Greetings Simon
My wife is the selectee in DV2021. My son and I are derivatives. We are from Hong Kong.
Q1. My son is currently studying in Scotland. What would happen if our interview is scheduled and my son is in the middle of the university semester and could not come back to attend? Is there any alternative arrangement eg having him attend a separate interview at a later time or going to the US Embassy in the UK?
Q2. I had my college education in the US, was in the country for over 6 months. Do I need to get a police certificate from the US government? My son is studying in Scotland. Been there for over 6 months. Does he apply for the police certificate from the Scotland police specially or just any UK police authority?
Q3. My wife is a housewife and does not have any income. I run my own business. But since business have been poor for the past 2 to 3 years, my recent tax returns shows negative taxable income. We, as a family, do have savings and cash. Is an affidavit to support I-134 still needed?
Thanks in advance for your help.
June 9, 2020 at 21:39
1. No. He needs to be with you. Other arrangements are complex.
2. No police certs for the US. For your son, read the instructions and reciprocity page.
3. That would be wise.
June 10, 2020 at 03:55
Following up on Q1.
How much time in between receiving 2NL email and actual interview date?
June 10, 2020 at 04:15
6/7weeks
June 10, 2020 at 06:21
Further follow up question on Q1.
Cosidering my son will have finished his university semester by mid May 2021, would it be feasible to wait until we file in our DS260 by, say, end of March 2021, so that we could all go to the interview together upon his return to HK from the UK in late May 2021, assuming the normal leadtime of processing of paperwork, 2NL, medical exam scheduling etc resumes.
Case number is DV2021AS5XXX. Is it risky to put off the filing of DS260 until March of 2021 as this is a relatively low case number for the Asia region? Is there a chance that I will miss out and be denied an interview for my inaction to file DS260 until that late?
June 10, 2020 at 22:45
That’s not risky. Just understand the lead times. To get interviewed in June you will need to have DS260 and documents processed by the end of March – so that probably means submitting everything in February, possibly even January.
June 9, 2020 at 17:24
Hey brit ,
I have a question despite even filling my conformation number it keep on saying invalid conformation, i hv checked my spelling several times but it keeps on saying same thing.

Good afternoon Mr Brit. I was selected from the dv2020 with a 5xx case number. I sent the ds in January and they gave me the ok in February, will it be that if we have the opportunity to go to an interview? Thanks in advance
June 9, 2020 at 21:22
We don’t know. The embassies are closed, so once they are reopened there are a lot of people waiting, and not enough time to interview them all.
June 9, 2020 at 16:44
Hy Simon
My case no is 2020as134×× from nepal and current for june july . My question is , is there is still hope for edv2020 winner?
June 9, 2020 at 21:20
We don’t know. The embassies are closed, so once they are reopened there are a lot of people waiting, and not enough time to interview them all.
June 9, 2020 at 15:48
Hi Simon,
Thank you so much for your great tips that have been very helpful through this long and winding road! I have a couple of questions for this final stretch.
I am EU18k. Dv20
1/ does the lawsuit with Curtis Morrison suspend the Sept 30th deadline?
2/ i made a confusion between chargeability and nationality within the same region so that may be forgiven by the CO. But If I a take part to the lawsuit does this mistake “automatically” put me out?
3/ finally and hopefully 🙂 in case I am approved and got my visa in July, can I go to the US in August (as a tourist with the usual esta) without activating my green card and postpone the activation until January?
Thank you for your help 🙂
June 9, 2020 at 20:49
1. No
2. No
3. No. And forget July interviews – that is already gone.
June 9, 2020 at 21:16
Thank you. I had an itw scheduled in April. Do you mean it’s already gone even for itw that should be rescheduled?
June 9, 2020 at 22:09
Rescheduling is possible in July if the embassies open soon.
June 9, 2020 at 15:04
Hi Brit,
I am from Nepal and my case no is around 8***. How fast should I fill the Ds-260 form and if I fill the form earlier then the people who have got lower case id then me, will I have a interview earlier then them or not ?
My next question when should we have to send then police report and all ??
What is a second letter ??
And last question as my case is 8*** what are my chances to be interviewed or being called to interview ?? what is your opinion on this
U didn’t reply to my question.why?
June 9, 2020 at 15:10
Hi Brit,
What is the highest case number you have heard from Nepal?? as I saw ur video and u said highest of Asia was 35000 till now. But I didn’t understand about the part that limited countries have all the cases in low range. I watched the holes video too but still I am confused. That means in Nepal there will not be people in range of 30K?
I have a case in the range 98**.
June 9, 2020 at 20:42
Nepal will be limited, so your number is not low. However, it is too early to know precisely. So wait.
June 10, 2020 at 03:59
Is it too high Brit?? What do you think are my chances
June 12, 2020 at 10:53
i have the same case number from nepal. I also what to know my chances. There are lots rumours about the range of case numbers. It will greatful if u respond our questions Sir Brit.
June 12, 2020 at 11:57
It is too early to know anything for sure.
June 9, 2020 at 20:33
“U didn’t reply to my question.why?”
Because as a human being I sleep sometimes. Show some patience!
And I have answered already.
June 9, 2020 at 15:04
Hi Brit
Can a sponsor to a DV lottery winner be a non resident in the United States who is only having an employment permit and is currently working as a nurse?
Also can two people make a join bank statement for a DV lottery winner with a family of four?
At least how much income should a person earn to support a family of four?
Thanks for your support!

All these people bl@@dy applying and winning
Then they dont meet the crtieria on education or LIED – so so many
Worst was one guy extending his passporr expiration and another yesterday and today who WON and ALSO WENT TO USA 4 years ago but lied about a child or children and you caught them out because 4 years later fhey want their child with them “OH MY!!!!”
Ive seen so MANY in last few days !!! … “I won but…”
These people should be blacklisted for not following up and their LIES EXPOSED
Theyve won and cant carry it through yet some genuine people have lost out
June 9, 2020 at 20:31
Well Terry, part of the reason they over select is because they know that some will not be able to proceed or will be denied. So yeah, there are all sorts of stories and no doubt there are some frustrating questions at the moment (you only have to read them I have to answer them too!). However, I don’t think that means people miss out.
June 10, 2020 at 12:27
Mate
I don’t know how you do it?
I see question after question after question – the vast majority unnecessary and some are very silly and very stupid questions
I think you have already said somewhere “I won’t answer questions answered elsewhere”…. and read FAQ – but you still DO !!!
Can I be honest with you – I have trouble reading all the questions posed and its PAINFUL – how do you read AND ALSO ANSWER?
And why respond to repetitive questions, and some ridiculous ones too !
I cant understand your zest and appetite to help – it is beyond me ??? Why?
Especially those people that really drill down and are bound to irritate you – they are genuine people here but some, take advantage and “order” you to help ! Like you must and how dare you don’t.
Its unfathomable ! And the nice person that you are, you oblige them – and I’m left dumbstruck
Aren’t you tired of people taking advantage and not listening or reading around your wealth of information (only asking?)
June 10, 2020 at 23:49
LOL. Yes I get angry sometimes, yes I get tired. Sometimes I let people know in subtle ways that Brits and Scotsmen would understand.
In my work I do not suffer fools gladly, and I have NO problem in letting people know when they are too stupid to be getting paid. I’m not that nice sometimes.
But in the DV world I try and gain control of my temper and remember that this is a life altering chance, that many are asking in a foreign language and many of them are too poor to pay for this quality of help. So – I suppress my screams sometimes and try and be patient. I will lose that battle as well – and as you say – some will be shocked when I won’t jump to their orders. That always makes me chuckle.
June 9, 2020 at 21:35
Hmmmmmm, your last statement …..
It shall be well
June 9, 2020 at 14:35
Hi Mr. Brit! Thank you very much for all the informations.
Since I am lucky enough to be the case number 2021EU7XXX in Europe, I am a little scared that I must move in the United States and can not finish my college. I am a student in the third year at a dentistry university in Romania and I wish I will be able to finish my college (September 2023). Do you think is possible to win the green card and move in USA in 2023, after my college is finished? I really want to be a dentist in the USA.
Thank you very much!
June 9, 2020 at 19:59
Frankly you would be better completing your education/training in the USA so that you are sure to meet US standards.
But to answer your question, you will have to activate your GC by entering the USA and then you can keep your status alive by taking trips to the USA. If needed you can apply for a re-entry permit (I-131) which can give up to 2 years out of the country.
June 9, 2020 at 14:34
Hello Simon
Thanks for your advice
My question is do i fill in and submit the DS260 separately.
For example for the principal selectee fill in and submit
For my spouse fill in and submit
For my child fill in and submit or i fill all of them and submit at the same time.
Thanks
June 9, 2020 at 19:56
You can do all, save all, then submit in one session (so more or less at the same time)
June 10, 2020 at 01:50
Hello Brit Greetings from Peru I have been selected in DV 2021 my case number is 2021SA29XX
And I have some questions, I would be very grateful if you could answer me.
How long is the approximate time in which they send you the notification to send your documents?
Is it possible to send my documents in Spanish or do I need to translate them?
If my case number is 2021SA29XX, what are my chances of an interview? Is my case number high?
Can the birth certificate issued online be used to send as supporting documents?
Thank you have a great day ?
June 10, 2020 at 03:37
1. I don’t know how long they will take – but your number means you will wait a long time anyway – so why worry.
2. Follow the instructions!
3. Yes your number is high, but it is too soon to know how high. Wait.
4. I don’t know.
June 14, 2020 at 10:25
Hello Sir, Does everyone get the chance to interview even though their case number is high.
Secondly I work for an American company in Ghana named Boart Longyear as a Driller Assistant for the past 5years ..Can I use that as my working experience to qualify…the SVP is 4>6…thank u
June 14, 2020 at 18:35
1. No
2. No.
June 10, 2020 at 21:42
Hello Doreen, after filling in the principal selected details to the end, how do you go back to fill for the derrivatives e.g spouse, children
June 9, 2020 at 14:25
hi Simon,
I have a friend who filled up the lottery entry on 31st of oct, and his passport expired first of October, and he was dumb enough to write down that expiry is May 2020. I told him that is forgery, and he will be denied. can you tell me what is your take on that please?
June 9, 2020 at 19:55
I assume he will be disqualified.
June 9, 2020 at 23:15
Sir I won the dv2021..The only information that don’t match on my primary entry is my passport expiry date but my passport is not expired yet ..It will expire 7thDec 2020 but I made a typing error of 11th Dec 2022…
June 10, 2020 at 00:28
That would be OK as the passport was unexpired at the time of entry.
June 10, 2020 at 15:39
Hello Simon
Good afternoon. Hope you doing good. I’ve been selected for the DV 2021. I am from Ghana. I tried to fill the DS 260 on June 9 but I was given the prompt that ” my application cannot be processsed at this time”
*Why couldn’t it be processed at this time?
June 11, 2020 at 00:38
There appears to be a system problem at the moment – wait a week and try again.
June 9, 2020 at 14:19
Do we have any information on how long it takes for the initial DS-260 to be processed?
I.e. the average time before you receive the followup e-mail about supporting documents.
June 9, 2020 at 19:54
We don’t know yet. It will partly depend on DV2020 cases and how much they dedicate staff to finishing that work.
June 9, 2020 at 14:04
Selected for further processing- Hi Brit. After filing the ds260 how long should I expect to wait to hear from KCC to send my supporting documents? Also is the police check just the online certificate or do they want something specific such as finger prints?
June 9, 2020 at 19:53
I don’t know when they will start processing.
About police certs etc. Read the instructions and the reciprocity page for country specifics.
June 10, 2020 at 00:50
Ok I guess it’s just the regular online one but it doesn’t mention if we need two police certificates if we have lived in other suburbs before 16 years of age. We lived in the same state but two different addresses so do you think we would need one or two?
June 10, 2020 at 03:27
Again. Read the instructions.
