Dear Sir,
DS260 List of visited countries –
do I need to have this form unlocked / amended if I am going to visit a “new country”, e.g. Egypt for holidays, after I submitted my DS 260, but before (the hopefully happening) interview in my home country?
Many thx for your time!

Hi uncle BritSimon,
Hope you are doing well in your daily life.
As I am a winner of Dv-2021,
I have some questions that i want you to guide me to the correct side,
1. As I graduated since 2019 from the university with Master degree in chemical Engineering,
But right now I still not working in my profession because us the situation that is happening these years in my country which is the war, So what I should put in the section of my Primary Occupation of my DS-260,
Should I put as Engineer, and if I do that thay want me to fill the Present Employer or School Name with the address so what I should put for that ,
Or should I put something else, just tell me.
2. I have a new son who was born recently and I still not have a passport for him because the situation that I told you above, So if I want to register in the DV 2022 and I want to put his information but he still not has a passport, what should I do,
Could I put the information of his Mather’s passport??
I know It is a long asking
Sorry for that, I have to do that,
Thank you previously.

1. Use your own judgement.
2. You don’t need the passport for the child to enter DV2022.

Hello Sir, Greetings from Afghanistan…
I am 2021 DV winner and have submitted the ds260 form. My question is that i also have a siv case which is under review at the us embassy. siv cases are taking much more time therefore, i am happy with dv to get visa, dv cases are processed sooner than siv. will my siv case effect my dv case ? I mean denial cause of my siv case. I hope to receive the answer thanks.

Hello Sr,
My interview was supposed to be on May, but i was part of the second batch of emails kcc never sent. My documents are still at kcc or at the embassy? Do you think i still have a chance to get one of those 9k visas or are there many people before me whose interviews were cancel and go first?
October 1, 2020 at 15:51
Hi Brit,
I am currently studying in the US and planning to enter DV-2022.
I am not sure if I will still be in the US past January.
Should I put my parent address in my home country as the mailing address ?
I am not quite sure how the mailing address is used in this process.
Thanks for the help !
October 1, 2020 at 20:57
Doesn’t matter what you put.

Hey Simon I watched your videos and read the FAQs but I’m not 100% sure I understand the “chargeability” term.
I was born in Italy to an Italian dad and Norwegian mom so I acquired both passports at birth and am a citizen of both countries (can work, live and vote in Norway and Italy alike). Can I apply to DV2022 with both passports in 2 different applications? Or just the italian one since I was born here?
Thanks in advance Simon. Have a great day.
October 1, 2020 at 20:54
It has nothing to do with passports and where you live etc.
It’s place of birth. Just that.
October 1, 2020 at 14:42
I’m going to enter the lottery again on October 7th. My 13 year old daughter and i have a 10 year US visa and we travelled to the US last year on vacation.
We live in South Africa. I was born in Nigeria but my hubby of 14 years is South African and i have South African citizenship and passport.
Can i claim his country of birth when I’m applying for dv lottery again? Must I state on the form that i was born in Nigeria even if I’m claiming my hubby’s country of birth?
October 1, 2020 at 20:53
Country of birth Nigeria
Country of chargeability – SA
October 2, 2020 at 00:01
Thank you so much Simon. Very much appreciated.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGp3fpMhzh0&list=PLzdqmYmpqo4d-Z7T5rWUdrJQWrVPBYxt5&index=36
So does that mean we can enter the U.S. now from non-ban country?
I am sorry to ask you the same question again. There have been so many changes since April 25th.

HI brit,
I am really happy for dv 2020 and i appreciate your work very much. I am 2021 selectee from Nepal and have case number 9000. i have many doubts which i want to clear from you caz everyone knows you re THE expert of dv. SO my questions are;
1. what are the chances of getting 2NLs from Sept for 2021?
2. Will remaing 2020 cases proceeds along with dv 2021 from jan? If so then does it affect Dv 2020?
3. Ready for scheduling mail has stopped from case number around AS4400, i thought kcc was busy for 2020. Can we expect kcc to continue to its work for 2021 from month? I guess Kcc has now got some time for 2021 -at least for 90 day?
4. Getting 2NLs form Nov or Jan, which has more chances?
5. for prediciting my chances, should i campare my CN within Asia region or within a country? As you’ve said, safest case number from AS is below 10000 and that makes me safe but in Nepal, highest case number is about 10-11k which makes me feel stress. What are my chances sir?
6. Oct,nov CNs both are current, are they both getiing 2NLS in november or only first lot i.e Oct?
October 1, 2020 at 20:39
1. O%. I hope we will get 2NLs in November for January interviews.
2. Maybe – we have to wait and see.
3. I would expect them to resume work on 2021, yes.
4. I don’t know.
5. I don’t know.
6. Both

Dear Brit,
Anyone who offends you or mistreats you in your blog is not worthy of your precious time. For two years, you have been guiding us miraculously in our journey. During these pandemic times, we, as 2020DV winners, probably had the worst experience in the history of the DV lottery. It is such a drama. Hopefully, it will have a Hollywood ending.
I have no idea what we would do if we didn’t have you in our life. My five years old son knows you more then he knows my father. You are like a family member, visiting us biweekly, and seating in our living room TV all the time. Your help in this life-changing experience is priceless.
You simply made us Come-Back Kings! We were in group 5, did exactly what you advised, and executed all step by step. And finally, a couple of hours ago we received our passports from the Embassy. Our visas are issued! We are in the last stage now. As you advised earlier, we plan to enter the U.S. as soon as possible to activate our Visas.
In one of your videos, on March 12, 2020, at the timecode: 12:45, you advise us to fly to a non-ban country, like Mexico (in another video which I can’t find now), and stay there for two weeks and then enter the US from there. Here is the link for the followers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHFSbulWuqY&list=PLzdqmYmpqo4d-Z7T5rWUdrJQWrVPBYxt5&index=28
Long and short, we are planning to fly directly to LA from Istanbul. But I am concerned about facing problems because of the PP10014. My wife, the principal applicant, is an EU citizen and also a legal resident of Turkey. And she has been in Turkey since November 2019. I am assuming that this Impact of the COVID-19 European Travel Ban does not affect us.
Am I right? Can we fly next week? Or we need to wait until January 2021.
Thank you for all the great work you do for us. You are a wonderful human being. I wish you and your family all the best!
October 1, 2020 at 20:35
Loved this message. Thanks for the kind words.
In theory, you should NOT be able to enter the USA until the ban ends in Dec 31. I think some people will try and enter, but I personally would not do that with kids etc because you would be risking a lot of air fares etc. My advice is to wait for the election. If Trump loses, we will probably not have the ban extended.
October 1, 2020 at 09:56
dear sir, i am dv2021 selectee and KCC asked me the document . i have send all my document but could not send one police clearance because embassy was closed due to lockdown but i have written explanation to it. now i got police clearance and i have send to KCC. is it alright . i am worrying becoz i have send 2 mails. please sir let me know if i made mistake.
October 1, 2020 at 20:27
You should have sent everything at one time. Do that.
October 2, 2020 at 15:34
Hi BritSimon,
I am a 2021 winner from Peru, I sent documents to KCC on Aug 5th; I also sent an explanation about a Police Clearance from Bolivia which is a country where I lived for 3 years; 2 days after sending documents, I received an e-mail from KCC telling me:
” Congratulations! Our records indicate that you have submitted all documentation required by the Kentucky Consular Center and are ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current”. by the way my number is arround SA 7XX
My question is:
1) A lawyer in Bolivia is representing me for obtaining the police clearance because it is not possible to travel right now; once I get this document, Do I have to send it to KCC? Or Do I just bring it to the interview?
Thank for your support, there isn´t good information about DV lottery in spanish, and even more in Peru because my country didn´t participate in dv lottery since 2008 (when all this proccess was doing by regular mail and with printed forms? ). I´ve learnt a lot with your videos and Blog.
October 3, 2020 at 01:29
1. Your original set of documents should have included all police certs, so I’m confused why you did not already send that one. But I suggest you resend all documents with the new police cert.
October 4, 2020 at 22:33
Thanks, BritSimon for your answer, I´m a little worried and confused now.
I didn´t send the Bolivian Police Certificate because until now I can´t get it. I live in Lima and to obtain that document I need to travel to Bolivia (because of the pandemic that is not possible). Now, I´m trying to get that document with a law office in Bolivia which is representing me. The Peruvian certificate was sent to KCC (I´m Peruvian currenlty living in Peru).
When I sent all documents to KCC, I have also sent an explanation about this issue. In DV instructions, said that if you can´t obtain the police certificate you have to submit a written explanation, and that was what I did.
KCC told me that everything was ok and that my case is ready to be scheduled. So Why they sent me that mail if this is not correct?
Well to sum up, what I have to do is: Once I get that document I will send all documents again although KCC had told me that my case is ready to be scheduled?
????? Please help me to understand ??????
October 5, 2020 at 22:09
Maybe they accepted your explanation.
October 1, 2020 at 09:29
When do you think one can request an interview from the embassy after the Judges order for extension. And what does it mean with groups 12345. My case number is 265xx what group am i in and could i get an interview at the embassy. What’s my fate.

Why some case numbers include mine show NVC at CEAC Status Check while received ready schedule email?

That is normal. Just ignore the NVC status.
October 1, 2020 at 08:12
Hi BritSimon,
According to state.gov’s data, there were 1131 selectees from my country in DV2020. Could you please confirm that this is a number of total selectees including derivatives and not the number of individual cases? In my understanding this is the number of total selectees, but questions were raised and I would like to have your confirmation. Thank you very much for your efforts.
October 1, 2020 at 20:21
Includes derivatives.

Hello Brit, Good morning
I have few question to ask
1)am going through the ds260 my friends normally call me SAMMY so I enter that where is indicated any other name used or aliases but the system is demanding a second name, like first and last name
I wanted type NOT APPLICABLE but am scared the system may pick it as a name.
2)Host earn about $50,000 per annum but what she has in her account is something less than $6,000 I want to find out is it the balance in account what they look at or the yearly earnings?
3)Should I get sponsor aside my host or that is okay?
4)On the ds 260 forms I see section for host information but there is no section for sponsor?
October 1, 2020 at 20:17
1. Match the names on your passport.
2. Earnings only.
3. Having an I-134 is wise.
4. That is why you use an I-134.

What is your best advice to my self with my current circumstances ?

Hi Bred ,
Am a Palestinian holding a Palestinian authority passport , i was born in Kuwait & my spouse also holding the same passport and was born in Saudi Arabia , would you please advise when submitting the dv application , which country should i chose , as Palestine is not listed there.
I’ve been applying since the last 4 years without any luck , as i remember in the application , they ask for place of birth only and i usually put Kuwait . but they don’t ask for nationality .
Thanks
Feras Murad
October 1, 2020 at 04:07
Nationality is meaningless in this process. Place of birth.

Hi Brit, thanks for the wonderful blog posts and videos on DV process. Super helpful. Thanks a ton.
My question: My spouse is born in SriLanka ( eligible country for DV) and I am Indian. Can both of us apply for DV as 2 different entrants? Me claiming her country of birth, I have seen your video you applying but claiming your wives country of birth. Just want to make sure, so our applications wont be disqualified.
FAQS has this question:
14. May my spouse and I each submit a separate entry?
Yes, each spouse may each submit one entry if each meets the eligibility requirements. If either spouse is selected, the other is entitled to apply as a derivative dependent.
Since im indian, I am not eligible, but would I be eligible, coz my spouse was born in Srilanka?
Can you please clarify
October 1, 2020 at 03:54
Yes you can each enter charging to SL. You both give your accurate place of birth.
September 30, 2020 at 18:09
Hi Mr Brit, thanks for your tireless effort you are doing for us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am Dv2020 and in group 4. Today I received this mail from kcc…
. …………..Thank you for your inquiry.
Records indicate you have submitted a complete and valid DS-260 application for each family member, and you have provided all required documentation to the Kentucky Consular Center. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Please refer to the visa bulletin at https://travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed. This bulletin is updated after the 15th day of each month. Once an interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check dvlottery.state.gov.
For information on Presidential Proclamations and COVID-19 information that may affect Diversity Visa selectees, please review: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/covid-19-visa-services-and-restrictions.html.
For information on the impact of the September 4, 2020 ruling by the U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia in Gomez v. Trump, please see: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/diversity-visa-DV-2020-update.html
If you were either in the United States, or held a valid immigrant visa on April 23, when Presidential Proclamation 10014 (PP 10014) went into effect, you are not subject to PP 10014. Diversity Visa holders whose visas were valid on April 23, but were unable to travel and the visas have since expired, may be issued a new visa before September 30, 2020. Please contact the consulate or embassy that issued that visa for more information.
All DV-2020 entrants who were selected must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by September 30, 2020. This deadline cannot be extended. This same strict deadline also applies to spouses and children of principal applicants.
All DV-2021 diversity visa program applicants must be found eligible for, and obtain, their visa or adjust status by the end of fiscal year 2021 (September 30, 2021).
Without exception, all selected and eligible Diversity Visa Program applicants must obtain their visa or adjust status by the end of the fiscal year. There is no carry-over of DV benefits into the next year for persons who are selected but who do not obtain visas by September 30, 2020 (the end of the fiscal year). Also, spouses and children who derive status from a DV-2020 registration can only obtain visas in the DV category between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020.
In order for the Kentucky Consular Center to assist with inquiries regarding a specific Diversity Visa (DV) case, you must provide the Principal Applicant’s full name, complete case number, and date of birth in the following format (MMDDYYYY) as entered on the original entry. Please remember that the Kentucky Consular Center does not have the authority to tell you whether or not your specific case will be disqualified. Only a consular officer can do that at the time of your visa interview. Do not send any paper documents to the Kentucky Consular Center.
1) Does this mail has anything to do with the extension?
2) why would they send such mail at the end of the fiscal year ?
October 1, 2020 at 03:25
Ignore it.

Hi Simon we managed to get our visas issued, many thanks to your advice. But just wanted to check how important the information of the “Immigrant Data Summary”, e.g. my wife doesn’t have an alias but I do even tho we both selected “no” for this item when filling out or DS260. The alias they gave me was Middle, First Last name.
Appreciate any advice we can get! Thanks in advance
September 30, 2020 at 17:09
I don’t understand your question. Make sure your legal name is accurate on the visa, ask the embassy if unsure.
September 30, 2020 at 17:26
All the details in the visa are accurate, only the sealed envelop that we’re supposed to bring with us and the paper at the front (Immigrant Data Summary) has an issue with the alias name, being that I didn’t give them one

Hi brit. I have been accepted and have been matriculated to an university in UK for my masters degree recently. And the course is distance learning based and is Part-time Intermittent Study meaning i have 6 years to finish it with credit given as per the course I take. This year I am not taking any courses, so I am just admitted to the university I have submitted my DS 260 and have recently submitted the police certificate with other documents. Do I need to unlock my DS form or should I leave it as it is?

September 30, 2020 at 16:12
Hello again Simon, this is Jonathan. With my Diversity 2020 immigrant visa and packet at hand, I am truly blessed, and many thanks to you and all those who have worked so hard on behalf of us. If I may ask a query with a personal aspect to it- I have been working as the primary carer for my mother, who suffered a lumbar spinal fracture early this year. Our plan all along has been for her to move back to Taiwan from HK early 2021, regardless of what potential outcome of the US visa situation from months before. My current plan is to travel with my mother to Taiwan around early to mid-February 2021 to settle her down and educate her new carer for around 2 weeks before returning to HK and prepare my move to the U.S. early March 2021. However, there is the possibility that I would need to go to Taiwan, say, May or June 2021 to check up on her physical progress, living, general adjustments etc. My question is this-would U.S. airport immigration and customs officers be wary about the fact that I flew out of the country so soon after entering on an Immigrant visa, even though I would return back to the U.S. not long after? Pardon my slightly long-winded question, but it has been in my mind for a bit. Thank you again, sir!
September 30, 2020 at 17:05
No problem. As an LPR you come and go as you please, up to the 12 month limit.

September 30, 2020 at 14:51
Good Morning Sir
I’m DV2021 winner cn AF5***. I would like to know if it is possible to make a new passport now as the interviews start in January and my passport will expire in July 2021. Because it’s says we have to present an Unexpired passport valid for six (6) months beyond our intended date of entry to the United States.
September 30, 2020 at 17:01
Yes you can. Show old and new at the interview.

Hi Simon
I have the same case as Mr who asked the question
Should we change the DS form after renewing the passport or just showing it would be enough
October 1, 2020 at 20:14
Either way is fine.

Hi Brit . Putting in the plate a person know how to follow up with documentation and fill out all forms, how different are the chance to follow up the DV processing (after being selected as winner) by myself vs being help by an US immigration lawyer ?
September 30, 2020 at 16:59
Chances increase if you do things yourself.
September 30, 2020 at 19:22
Thank you!

Hi Brit,
I have a doubt and it is bothering me.I am DV lottery 2020 winner.I went to the USA on F1 visa and within 1 month I entered(illegal entry) Canada through the border and sought asylum. But my asylum was refused and Canada immigration issued a deportation order. So I left the country. Does this immigration record affect me on obtaining US immigrant visas? The consular officer requested my asylum package and told me he needs to review it. So obviously, he is going to refuse my case right?
Thank you
Mike

Thank you for your inquiry.
Your DS-260 has been processed. You should have received an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing. Please follow the instructions in the email. Interviews are scheduled based on their selection order and the number of cases that are complete and have completed processing, and the availability of appointments. Please refer to the visa bulletin at travel.state.gov to locate the current numbers being processed.

It’s just a standard email sent when they process your DS260. You can ignore it.

Dear BritSimon,
I cannot thank you enough for all your efforts. It is a relief to read your blog. If you could, please help me to answer the following questions, I am anxious and looking for some clarification.
I am a DV 2021 winner, case number 2021EU12XXX and have submitted DS260 on September 15th for both my husband and myself. Haven’t received any emails from KCC except the “do not reply” confirmation page for DS 260.
I have to request police certificates from 4 countries where I have lived for more than 12 months including my home country. Police certificates have validity periods. The borders are closed in my country, the US Embassy’s visa service is suspended and we don’t know when they will resume work. I will face difficulties with receiving documents since we have no mailing service working at the moment except very expensive DHL. My question is:
1) Should I be proactive and start the process of requesting police certificates from the relevant countries I have lived in? So that I will have everything ready when I receive documents request email from KCC. Or should I wait until I actually receive the request from KCC since police certificates have validity periods.
2) When I receive documents request email from KCC, is there a deadline for me to submit our documents? Or I can take my time and wait for months until I receive my police certificates?
3) Is there any way to control the timing of my interview date? For example, attend the interview later if our borders will remain closed, keeping in mind that my country will resume flights only in 2022.
I apologize for a long message, your response means a lot to me and would give me some peace of mind.
September 30, 2020 at 14:21
1. Start getting the police certs, they are valid for up to one year (regardless of their stated expiry date).
2. No deadline.
3. Delay submitting DS260 or documents until as late as March
September 30, 2020 at 11:51

Hi Simon
I have a question regarding the DS260 DV2021.
My case number is AS19xxx and I have submitted the document to KCC. However, I am planning to quit my job next year in Mar. Do you think it will affect (or delay) of my DS 260 process?
If you Can share your opinion it is much appreciated.
October 5, 2020 at 15:54
In addition, the above “document” means DS260. I am sure that has many disadvantages to ask KCC to unlock in order to change my personal info and also is it risky to change my personal info around Mar to April?
October 5, 2020 at 22:28
Answered in the FAQ.
October 15, 2020 at 20:15
Hi,
My case# for DV2021 is AS19XXX as well…. Any idea when they will ask us for additional doc to schedule for interview? also is 19xxx in Asia a good number and has chance to be called for interview?
Thanks
October 16, 2020 at 04:27
I don’t know when they will ask. Your number is quite high, especially if Biden wins the election.
