Mr. BritSimon
Would you please clarify following question: Medical examination results are valid for 6 months. This 6 months period is countdown for interview or for entry?
November 22, 2016 at 07:00
Entry. The visa (if approved) will have an expiry date of the medical plus 6 months.

If it is incorrect on your passport you should have that corrected. Make sure it is correct on the DS260.
November 26, 2016 at 01:21
Hello! I’m one of the selected in Albania, case number 2017EU00010** ; I completed the DS-260 in June but then changed it in September(changed my marital status) May this be a factor in postponing the interview? Actually i heared that the lower the case n. the sooner the interview so I’m getting a little worried. thanks in advance
November 26, 2016 at 02:34
Changing marital status (and presumably adding a DS260 for your new spouse) is a significant change, so you can expect a small delay for that reason. No problem with the delay though.
November 25, 2016 at 13:02
My sister is from Africa. Her confirmation number is in 11,000. October bulletin says it dealing with up to those whose numbers are in up to 13,000. They are current for November. Why has she received appointment letter yet?

November 21, 2016 at 20:38
Hello. Thank you for your guidance!
I received my email today confirming my interview in January in Australia. I will need to take time off work but I am unsure of exactly how long.
Assuming I will need to go to Australia prior to the interview for the Medical exam, wait for medical results, have the interview, and wait for the return of my passport and nothing else goes wrong, how long do you estimate this process should take?
Thank you very much.
November 21, 2016 at 23:14
You should check with the physician to see when you can have the medical. Then you should plan on them returning your passport 1 to 2 weeks after the interview.
November 21, 2016 at 22:22
Please heard 2nl for January interview is out?
November 21, 2016 at 23:12
Correct.
November 22, 2016 at 02:37
Hi Simon, Do you have that how many days take to deliver after status of green card changes to begun production of my card ??
November 22, 2016 at 06:17
I don’t know exactly. Don’t worry about it – you don’t need the GC on a day to day basis.
November 22, 2016 at 05:30
Hi Simon
Does KCC direct special hospital for Medical?
Or can i go to any rekown hospital in the Country I live in for medical?
November 22, 2016 at 06:10
Each embassy has a list of physicians they use.
November 22, 2016 at 06:13
Please how can I know way I’m going for my medical?
November 22, 2016 at 09:10
Hi Simmon,
My husband has just received the interview date for the 31st of January. We are in the process of getting a J1 visa 2-year-rule waiver, which most likely be after the interview date.
My question is: should we postpone the interview date until we receive the waiver, or should we go ahead with the interview and then provide the missing waiver?
Thank you so much for your help.
November 22, 2016 at 15:44
It’s up to you whether to postpone or not. If you don’t, and the waiver is not granted your fees will be wasted.
November 22, 2016 at 20:10
Thank you, Simon.
We are almost sure we are going to get the waiver, the problem is when. It will probably be after the interview, so, will it make it safer in terms of securing the green card if we go to the interview without the waiver, and then provide it once we get it, or should we just reschedule the interview? which option is safer?
Many thanks, again.
November 22, 2016 at 21:00
I don’t have enough history of similar cases to say which is safer. You are going to have to use your own judgement.
November 22, 2016 at 10:16
What if when you were applying for the green card lottery you indicated that you are single and you manage to go through the whole process till you are given the visa .Is it possible later on to claim your kids and spouse to live with you?and if possible whats the procedure and how expensive is it ?
November 22, 2016 at 15:41
You mean if you lied about not having kids or a spouse? In that case there is no fix and you should not waste your money in processing.

November 22, 2016 at 15:39
This is elective cross charging. Read the link below. Make sure you are both prepared to prove education or work experience. If I were you I would print out the 9 FAM notes regarding cross charging.
https://britsimonsays.com/country-of-chargeability-for-dv-lottery/
November 22, 2016 at 17:26
Thanks Sir
November 28, 2016 at 21:32
Thanks
That is mean maybe reject for this reason (Eligibility) . Or maybe passed
As you aware the FAM law lunched on September 11, 2015 So before Dv 2017 entry and until today it’s not mentation on DV instrucation even on DV 2018.
Do you have any idea to why ??
Sorry but i need clear answer Mr. Simon
Regard
November 29, 2016 at 01:19
The law did not change on September 11, 2015. That change to the 9 FAM notes was a change in guidance, not law. That is why nothing else has changed. However, the guidance makes things more clear. So – the case should be OK, but it is always up to the discretion of the CO. Don’t overthink this, just do as I already advised.
November 22, 2016 at 10:28

November 22, 2016 at 15:35
PATIENCE! (and waiting 5 days and repeating the question is not patience).
November 24, 2016 at 13:22
Hi Saly ! I’am in the same situation, Did you receive your passport ?
November 22, 2016 at 11:55
Hi Britsimon,
My Case number is 2017AF000403XX and I won the dv on september’s aditional draw(i first check the status on May but i was not a winner, on september 6, i got an email that inform me to check my dv again since there are additional names are added after the first draw). i finished my ds260 on November 15. Since my number is more than 40k, what is the probability to get my 2NL?
November 22, 2016 at 15:27
It should be OK but you will have to wait and see.

Hi, Simon the BRIT?
My question is that Can I make OTHER changes on my UNLOCKED DS-260 form other than what I have inquired initially?
Thanks !

Hello Mr Brit, whene I’ll got my visa and married after my interview , once in usa I will fill form i-130 to bring my wife I know that it will take around 2 years , my question is I have to declare my wife in the aeroport whene I arrived to usa or I can fill i130 directly with a help of a lawyer ?
Give my ana advise please
November 22, 2016 at 21:02
You don’t have to declare her at the airport. So – yes, you simply start the I-130 process when you are ready to do so.
November 22, 2016 at 18:34
Hi Simon,
I born and raised in KSA, Then I moved to UAE in 2003 & I’m staying here till the moment.
Do I need to issue a police certificate from KSA? I have asked my friends in KSA to issue one for me & they informed me that the KSA Police authorities don’t provide such a certificate if you’re not current resident.
My interview has been scheduled in UAE on January 2017
Any advise?
November 22, 2016 at 21:00
You should have read the reciprocity page for more accurate information. Please make sure you read and follow the instructions.
https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/SA.html
November 23, 2016 at 18:46
Hi Simon,
it’s mentioned “The Police clearances are unavailable for third country nationals who no longer reside in the KSA.”
currently I’m living in UAE & My interview will be on January 2017 in Abu Dhabi, Since I can’t obtain a police clearance from KSA, is it going to effect the result of my interview?
Have you heard of any similar case?
November 23, 2016 at 18:50
If the instructions say the police cert is unobtainable for your circumstances, then you are not expected to provide it.
November 22, 2016 at 18:44
Hi BritSimon,
My number is current for the January interviews although I have not had a 2NL yet, I initially submitted my form on the 21st June then unlocked it in July and resubmitted it on the 29th August do you think this could delay the interview until February or March?
Thank you
November 22, 2016 at 21:01
The 21st June submission itself could cause that delay to a February (perhaps March) interview.
November 22, 2016 at 21:58
Hello,
In my DS-260 I put my issuance date as 18 February 2012 instead of 18 January 2012.
Also, I have since moved from my previous address. Everything else I updated was correct.
Should this pose an issue? I have already scheduled my interview in January.
Thank you!
November 22, 2016 at 21:59
I should say my passport issuance date
November 23, 2016 at 01:15
Not a problem.
November 23, 2016 at 02:26
Hi Simon
for my petition I got following update on US CIS website
“we denied your Form I-129, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, We mailed you a decision notice that explains why we denied your case and your options.”
Can you suggest what do I do now?
November 23, 2016 at 04:23
I don’t advise on cases other than DV lottery.
November 23, 2016 at 05:02

Hi,I submitted my ds260 on the 20th of July n my wife the 28th of July also,I unlock my ds260 on Friday and resubmitted on yesterday,so will I be included in the January interview? My case number, 19978
November 23, 2016 at 14:39
No.
November 23, 2016 at 13:43
Thanks Simon for your great support … i have a question
my husband win in DV 2017 and he loss his vision in Nov 2015 after we apply for DV 2017
Can the consular refuse our visa for this reason ?
my husband engineer and me to
thanks
November 23, 2016 at 14:24
Possibly. There is no rule that says someone with impaired vision cannot get a Green Card, BUT there may be some concern of how your husband will support himself without becoming a public charge. Given that this impairment is recent your husband may not have had time to adjust yet, and become productive. You should consider this carefully as to how your husband will cope with a move to the USA.
November 23, 2016 at 16:40
hi
Dear Brit
I am from Ethiopian one of the DV 2017 winner my CN is around 15*** and i send my ds260 form on jun 18 2016 but till nothing is appear on my e-mail please.. please help me by an-swearing this Qs my question Great thanks IN advance my questions is that
1. when this CN will be current in Ethiopia?
2. in what case Elective cross charging is considered? my husband is won the dv lottery on my form
is there any possibility his education and work experience is supporting me ?
3.from my families(husband and kids) if someone is unfit on medical exam is the unfit person is appear on the interview or not?
4. Is LDL cholesterol and high blood pressure(140/90) can unfit for the visa? please i need your advice
November 23, 2016 at 16:56
1. I’m not predicting.
2. Elective cross charging is possible but I don’t know your circumstances to comment. IF he has cross charged then you might NOTH have to prove you meet the requirements for education etc.
3. The physician won’t declare someone unfit – but the CO may denuy the case based on information from the medical.
4. No.
November 23, 2016 at 16:44
So when do you think I can expect my interview.
November 23, 2016 at 16:52
Well progress is slower than I expected. So – maybe February, possibly March. Wait and see.
November 23, 2016 at 17:45
hello
m/r Brit
you are so great for giving the right advice for those of in Q of DV lottery
so much thank you for willing advice i like it so much
i have one qution that nee your advace
1. look Brit i am the winner of dv2017 with my family one husband and 3kids. my Q before 15 years ago when i was 18 year of age that means when i was in high school some one forced me and i got pregnant and give birth because of this my families and me was not happy even i stopped my grade eleven class and my families and me decide to give the baby for adoption who needs a chide legally not asking for this child never ever again and after that i have completed my grade 12 and married with my legal husband with legal marriage and have 3kids.
the problem is i didn’t fill ether on my initial or ds form the first baby …i cant get him and i did not eve see him for 14 year my case no is 15*** what shall i do in order to minimize disqualification?
please please brit help me wiht your full heart i am in treble
November 23, 2016 at 17:51
I’m not certain how they will decide this.
If you have legal paperwork about the adoption, take it to the interview. I would advise you to not bring up the adopted child. If they raise it (because of background checks) you can then show the adoption paperwork to explain how you have no connection to the child (i.e. no parental rights). That might be enough to avoid denial if they know about that child.
November 23, 2016 at 19:33
Hi Simon,
I was hoping you could help me out with a question regarding my Greencard through the DV lottery please.
I entered the US for the first time in September on my DV visa (then endorsed) for two weeks before returning to the UK.
My wife, who is a dependent on my DV (she is DV2), couldn’t go with me at the time and entered in November, without me. The border officials apparently were not that pleased that she was not with me and were asking why I wasn’t with her and why she was arriving on her own. She had to explain that I’d already been and, this was the true reason why we couldn’t go together, that she couldn’t get time off work to go with me. What is your take on this, I thought this didn’t matter as long as I went first? In any case, they did endorse the visa so I guess this means that there’ll be no problem issuing the greencard for either one of us?
Many Thanks.
November 23, 2016 at 19:41
No it is no problem. They just seem to enjoy making the process seem more complicated than it needs to be.
November 23, 2016 at 19:53
Hey Simon, I have three questions:
(1) Regarding the “one photocopy of each document” requirement — do you know if it needs to be a certified photocopy? As in, if I bring originals do I also need to make certified copies, or will regular copies suffice?
(2) How recent does the birth certificate need to be? Can it be a few years old or does it have to be a new one?
(3) Also for translations, do they need to be recent translation or can they be a few years old (so long as they are done by a sworn translator)?
Hope that’s not too much to ask! Thank you!
November 23, 2016 at 20:28
1. Since you are showing the originals, regular copies are OK.
2. Old is typically fine – unless local laws expire the birth cert.
3. Age unimportant.
November 23, 2016 at 21:21
Thank you very much, you are the best! I’ll make sure to make a donation after all this is over!
November 23, 2016 at 22:45
Hi Brits my problem is I have two sir names without a hyphen but on my high school certificate a hyphen was mistakenly added to my sir names.apart from that I have it correctly on all my other certificates.pls can this cause me a problem on my day of interview? If yes what should I do.Thanks
November 23, 2016 at 23:36
I don’t think it will be a problem.
November 24, 2016 at 14:40
Please Mr Brit, am winner of 2017 DV. Please would like to find out , i used my 2008 passport picture in the registration of 2017 dv. but i have won . its likely that can be disqualify during my visa interview.
November 24, 2016 at 15:42
It is possible. It is up to the CO.
November 24, 2016 at 08:05

November 24, 2016 at 09:05
hello sir,
why do kcc send our case to the embassy before scheduling our case and what are the things do they check at the embassy?
November 24, 2016 at 15:56
KCC performs the background checks. I don’t think the embassies do much, if any, checking unless the interview leaves unanswered questions.
November 24, 2016 at 17:09

2. No. Cause for patience.

November 24, 2016 at 20:30
Hi simon, after passed the interview passed well and my visa was approuved the first of this November, nearly 4 weeks have passed without hearing nothing from them.
Whenever I try CEAC it shows me “case number is invalid” and when i try to track my passeport using passport number in http://www.ustraveldocs.com I receive the same message, Passport Status :
“There is no status update available for the passport number submitted.”
Is this a normal thing ? how is the estimation of time between the interview and pick up ?
thant you so much for your time
November 25, 2016 at 05:48
Normally 1 to 2 weeks. Contact the embassy.
November 25, 2016 at 09:29
I tried contact them many times by e-mail but all i got in response is this:
“Thank you for your inquiry. Due to the high volume of messages that we receive, please read the instructions below that may be of assistance. Should the answer to your inquiry be found below, please consider this a final response to your query. Furthermore, please visit our Immigrant Visa website ”
I tried the calling them but it didn’t work.
Is there anything else I could do ?
Thank you for all you replies!
November 25, 2016 at 09:50
Hi Simon! I Got a reply today for my case, thank you again for everything!
November 25, 2016 at 09:04

November 25, 2016 at 12:38

2. Possibly.
3. Yes
November 25, 2016 at 13:59
Hi Simon, I registered for the 2018 DV lottery but I had someone do the registration for me and the person mistakenly made my middle and surname a compound name by putting a hyphen in between them. I am scared that if I win, it may be a problem. Please, I will appreciate your advice
November 25, 2016 at 14:24
You have a low chance of selection – so don’t worry about it unless selected.
November 25, 2016 at 14:06
thank you so much Mr. Simon you have been of great help to me more strenghth to you
November 25, 2016 at 14:15
Hi Brit,
Instruction about documents for the visa interview says:
“Original and Supporting Documents – Original documents or certified copies,
and one photocopy of each document (with the exception of your passport
and photographs) are required for you and each family member applying for
a visa. Your original documents will be returned to you when the interview has
been completed. The photocopies will be kept. For more information, review
Prepare Your Supporting Documents.”
However I heard that the original documents should be certified/authenticated.
Is that really necessary?
Thanks
November 25, 2016 at 14:23
In some countries, that might be needed – but I don’t know the specifics. Check the country/embassy specific instructions.
November 25, 2016 at 14:52
Hi Brit Simon, My number is current but as I submitted my form the end of June and as I have not had a 2NL yet, can I assume that I will not get an interview in Jaunary and that I need to wait until mid-end December when the next set of case numbers go current to find out if I have one in February. Many thanks
November 25, 2016 at 15:07
Correct.
November 25, 2016 at 21:10
Hello
Dear Brit
am really appreciate you for giving this important advice for this much people.with your full willing …God bless you
am one of dv 2917 winners i have submitted my ds260 and i am waiting for 2nl
MY Qs are
1. is the background checking during ds260 is only for principals applicants or including for all derivatives? and what kids things should be checked during the DS process?
2. is there any advantage for dv 2017 winners because of low number of selectees in this year compered to other years?
3. i have a painless Varicose veins on my leg it needs a simple surgery is costy to do this surgical after I enter to USA am an Ethiopian i prefer to make it in US if there is a free medical care please suggest me how i will get a chip or free medical care in USA ?
thank you so much brut
November 25, 2016 at 21:15
1. We don’t really know the details of what they check.
2. They are less likely to be disappointed because of visas running out. However, the second draw added some more selectees, and in some cases that may lead to some of those cases not becoming current.
3. Healthcare is generally not free in America. You should not “plan” on getting healthcare for free…
November 25, 2016 at 22:35
MR Simon,
Thank you for your answers and help.
1) MY CN is AF000190xx, Egypt, I sent the DS260 for me, wife and children in 10 July, then unlocked for me and my wife only and re-sent again at 20 July, I hope to be in march.
2) After a week I sent, my father died, I will correct data during the interview, any problem?
3) concerning the point i am worry about ( names ), the name in passport consist of 5 names ( the 5th one is surname ). * in the DV entry I used only 3 names ( the 3rd one used as my family name ), * in the DS260 already my name was written as in DV entry ( surname was the 3rd one ) * so I added the 2 remaining names to the surname field.
my name : 1 2 3 4 5
passport; 5, 1 2 3 4
name in DV : 3, 1 2
name in DS260 : 3 4 5, 1 2
I asked before and you told me ( use your judgement ), yes I did and completed it as above, but do you think it will affect anything?
4) if there is a problem, there are any steps will be a remedy for that?)

1. Not a question
2. No problem.
3. I already answered this…
4. The CO will decide at the interview.

How do you do! Mr.Simon
This is for your record;
My friend has received 2NL on November 21, 2016 and the interview date is on January 12 2016. Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Case number is EU7XXX and submission of DS-260 on the end of June 2016.
Quick Question:Does having an Employment Offer Letter OR I-134 form of AoS will HELP/INCREASE the chance of approving visa on the day of interview?
Thank you very much and have a wonderful day!
November 26, 2016 at 02:35
Yes, having an I-134 or a GENUINE job offer is a good idea.

Hi simon, based on the previous years experience,DS 260 of CN AF 2017000011** submitted on July 24th should receive the 2NL in Dec,on the ground that this years DS260 processing is low,do you think there is still hope to receive the 2NL in Dec,thanks

Hello Simon
Hope you’re doing well.
I’ve a question regarding to country of chargeability.
as you’ve known, I’ve a mistake on country of chargeability but since it is within in same geographic region, it could be forgiven.
But t also mention that “post may need to obtain additional DV numbers for the correct country of chargeability from the immigrant visa control and reporting division (CA/VO/DO/I), as necessary, via a visas forg message”
1) What does it mean?
2) And do I need to get anything or fill and submit any document on the interview or after interview?
3) Would it put me into AP?
Just wanna know what I need to prepare more.
Thanks in advance.

Dear simon
My CN is AF 41*** (dv2017 winner) i have a couple of questions if you are willing to answer them please. ( i am freaking out…)
1.i didnt write my native name as it should because i didnt have arabic in my keyboard and im worried. Is it really necessary for me to unlock the ds260 form to re write it. Will it cause a delay??
2. I also used a previous picture on the dv app but its not that old i have it in my passport as well. Istill look the same :). Should i be worried about this?
Thanks in advance mr simon

1. It will not cause delay if you do it now.
2. It is a risk, but a small one.

Hi,
My nephew has entered lottery this year from US. He was born in UAE but here on DACA (out of status/entered on visit). If selected where his interview will be and possibility to adjust status without leaving. If he goes for consulate processing does he have better chance?
Do we have any such case approved, I understand its a long shot.
Thanks
November 27, 2016 at 02:52
If he is out of status he probably cannot adjust. If he picks up illegal presence he could also earn a ban. But realistically, making plans around the lottery entry is like speaking to an accountant for tax planning when you just bought a lottery ticket. The chances of being selected in the DV program are once in 100 years.
