Hello. Here in Fiji we recently had a lockdown and no interviews were conducted in April, May and June. The embassy had informed us that they’ll reach out to us once interview is rescheduled and it’ll be done according to who was scheduled first. One of the selectees I was talking to said hers had not been scheduled yet but her initial interview was in May. Another selectee had their initial date in August but the embassy reached out to him before the lady that had been scheduled for me. In summary, some interviews that were scheduled much later are being done first. I have emailed the embassy about it but they have not replied at all. Another selectee had been initially scheduled for June but had already received a new interview date for September which was also scheduled earlier than some. What is a possible explanation for this? Would it be possible that they may be interviewing those that are plaintiffs for the lawsuits first? Because one of selectees scheduled earlier is a plaintiff of the lawsuit I think.
August 4, 2021 at 04:50
I don’t know.
August 1, 2021 at 13:03
On May 28, I sent email to KCC to unlock my D260 related with Saudi police certificate which is stated unavailable by the Saudi’s reciprocity page. After I got your advice I realized that I do not need to ask for a DS260 unlock. My question is, Should I have to email to KCC not to unlock my DS260?
Thank you again.
August 2, 2021 at 04:28
It will probably be too late.
August 2, 2021 at 19:44

August 4, 2021 at 04:37

Hi Brit,
I’m a dv 2021 winner. Case number AS7xxx. I’m a member of Courtis lawsuit. I already submitted my documents. The only document that I couldn’t submit is my police certificate from the second country that I lived there. I attached a letter explaining the reason why I couldn’t provide the police certificate form the second country. I am currently leaving in the third country. The police certificate is going to be ready at the end of August.
Should I resubmit all documents including the police certificate before the deadline ? What is your advice? Is it ok if I do it in September?
Thank you so much,
August 2, 2021 at 04:28
Do what you think is best.
August 1, 2021 at 13:37
Hi SIMON
I’m DV2022 winner, Before 5 years, I was in custody for two week by local police in my country, then they sent me free after they checked that I didn’t commit a crime. Does this incident affect my case?
Thank you.
August 2, 2021 at 04:29
It may depend on the details of the case. Only the CO can decide.
August 1, 2021 at 13:48
Hi Simon, I am a dv2020 winner last year in March 5 I entered US Embassy in Armenia. My documents are normal but I didn’t have I-134 and they said me if I would send I-134 to embassy in 10 days they would take me visa, but due to of Covid_19 I couldn’t send my I-134 document (because embassy didn’t work) and I couldn’t take a visa in fiscal year. Now when I check my visa status in cease.state.gov website, in there is written refused. But if Judge Mehta make a good decision about 9095 visas can I have hope to get a visa(of course if I send my I-134 document and my passport to embassy)?
August 1, 2021 at 20:32
I want to know only your opinion.
Thanks.
August 2, 2021 at 04:30
Maybe – I can’t be certain. Make sure you are properly ready this time!
August 1, 2021 at 16:46
Dear Brit,
I am a DV21 winner and my interview has already been scheduled.
I have made a mistake in my DS-260 form. In one of my previous addresses (which is outside of my origin country) I stated a wrong duration of living date (I stated ‘from September 2013 to May 2018 instead of ‘from February 2014 to May 2018) and this can be recognized if CO check my previous passport because that time (before February 2014) I had not moved there yet. This is the first address that my spouse and I started living abroad together as international student and dependent after getting married in our origin country. And we are still living in this country as international student and dependent.
Q1: Will it cause a problem in our interview session ?
Q2: What do you suggest me to do ?
Thank you,
Soode
August 2, 2021 at 04:35
Not a big problem.
August 1, 2021 at 18:38
Hello Brit. I came across this question in the ds260. Dv 2022 selectee AF38k
1.) Should I tick yes or No. I also selected that I would like to Join the Military, would that be the right thing to do
Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?
2.) Also about the issue of previous addresses, should I include the previous address of my boarding school because I attended a boarding school from secondary to high school with the highest time I’ve spent in school is 3months.
Should we include the boarding school addresses we lived in below 6 months.
August 2, 2021 at 04:36
1. “Yes”
2. No
August 3, 2021 at 18:03
1.”Yes” that is weird, because it is said that “has not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor”? I think it should be a “no”, because you never know if those jobs are legal or not.
August 4, 2021 at 05:01
Jobs are not normally certified by the Sec Of L. So – they answer is YES
August 1, 2021 at 19:52
Hello Sir,
I am going for my DV21 interview in couple days, I decided to do one more last revision for the documents & DS260, I have just figured out an error, I am the main applicant and my wife and my kid will be accompanying me to the interview:
-My actual marriage date is 2006, the error is in my DS260 (I am the main applicant): Marriage date has been written 2016 instead of 2006, however It has been written correctly in my wife DS260 i.e. 2006
The marriage certificate submitted to KCC with no objection from their side (the marriage certificate date is 2006).
So what do you think is the best approach to do? Shall I send the consulate an email to correct or shall I inform the counsel during interview?
Thanks a lot
August 2, 2021 at 04:38
Inform the counsel during interview
August 1, 2021 at 20:42

August 1, 2021 at 20:43
Hi Simon,
Currently, I am in OPT and working in the USA. During this time, I won the DV lottery 2022. Based on my reading online articles, It seems like, I can submit an adjustment of status instead of going through a process from my country. So far, I have paid $330 for the DV lottery fee, but I am not sure what to do next steps. Also, I have a girlfriend that I want to marry in early September. Can I add her too. Here are some other questions that I have for you:
1) How can I apply for Adjustment of status?
2) What document should I submit?
3) When can I submit it?
4) what are fees amounts?
5) Should I apply for the DS-260 form?
I appreciate your assistance. Thank you so much in advance.
Donie

Hi Brit,
One Short question, my birth certificate is half typed and half written, will it cause a problem?
Thanks,
August 1, 2021 at 22:16
I mean half-hand written.
August 2, 2021 at 04:41
Not if it is genuine.
August 2, 2021 at 03:40
Hi Brit
If you married to your cousin is that a reason for visa denial?!
Thank you.
August 2, 2021 at 04:42
The marriage will not be recognized, so yes that could cause a problem.
August 2, 2021 at 23:59
Mainly, only first cousin marriages (one of your parents is the brother or sister of one of your wifes’ parents) and illegality and rules vary from state to state, with some states recoginizing first cousin marriages from out of state as well (there is a wikipedia page on this, don’t ask how I got there x) ). I therefore don’t think it’s outlawed at the federal level, so would that mean that it’s not a problem for DV?
August 4, 2021 at 04:49
It is actually more to do with whether the marriage is considered legal in the country where it was performed, but yes there can also be State problems as well.
August 2, 2021 at 06:16

August 4, 2021 at 04:10

August 2, 2021 at 06:59

But recently she has moved to another state for her new job and I couldn’t update that in DS260 as it already locked, is this going to effect in my interview when they ask where will you be staying while in the USA
August 4, 2021 at 04:11
No problem. Update the address at the interview.
August 2, 2021 at 07:41

Hi Brit! DV 2022 EU19xxx here. I have a question regarding the DS260 of my husband : he worked for 5 months in Oman, a different country than our country of residence (Spain). He did declare he worked there and the period of time, but he didn’t declare he lived there. Do we have to unlock the DS260 to modify this or can we explain it at the interview? Thank you!
August 2, 2021 at 11:27

Hi Brit.

The only hope is the lawsuits.
August 2, 2021 at 14:29
Dv 2022 winnder, on May 28 2022, I sent email to KCC to unlock my D260 related with Saudi police certificate which is stated unavailable by the Saudi’s reciprocity page. After I got your advice I realized that I do not have to ask KCC unlock DS260 and revise my travel information.
My question is, Should I have to email to KCC NOT to unlock my DS260?
Thank you again.
August 4, 2021 at 04:26
By the time they read the cancel email they would have unlocked.
August 2, 2021 at 17:09
Hi dear Simon,
I am a DV2022 and I’m trying to understand the whole process. I have some questions:
1- How many visas were issued during FY2020 before 30SEP (Besides the ~9K preserved visas)
2- If a case is refused, do its visas go to the next case until the theoretical 55K available visas are exhausted, or once they go through the process, their visa numbers are lost even if they are denied?
3- I gather cases get DQ based on the CN order and get scheduled based on the date they became DQ, is that correct?
4- In my DS260, in the education section, I only filled info from (and including) the last year of high school onwards. Stupid of me, I know. But do you suggest I unclock the form to add education info since 12 years old or do I wait and see if they accept that? (Especially that I have a low CN, AF3K)
Thanks,
August 4, 2021 at 04:31
1. ~20k
2. Unissued Visas are returned to KCC for re-allocation.
3. Almost. The case number is also a factor normally – but not in DV2021 since all cases are current.
4. Considering your case number, leave it.
August 2, 2021 at 17:37
Hi Brit, thanks for the good work. I’m a green card holder, I had a family but for some misunderstandings me and my wife were separated but we’re not divorced. During this time I was selected for dv which I didn’t include my family, so I got into USA as a single but now I have reconcile with my wife and wish to be together with my wife and kids. My question is
1 Is it possible for me to file for them
2 Is it going to affect my green card or
3 Are they going to refuse them visas
August 4, 2021 at 04:32
You lied during your application and obtained your GC through immigration fraud. If they ever find out, they can deport you.
August 2, 2021 at 18:34

August 2, 2021 at 19:09
Greetings Mr Simon.
Am dv 2021 case number 25***
Sir please I need help with this email I received from KCC.
I have submitted my documents as they requested. I submitted both my old expired and new passport. I also send a written note giving explanation as requested by KCC why I made a new passport. I have rechecked all my documents and the naming order everything is correct and to the best of my knowledge. Now I receive this email from them I don’t understand what they mean pls help me sir.
Please advise me on what I should do Sir. Do they want me to send them just the expired and new passport or what am really confused. Please your help will greatly help.
Thank you for submitting your Diversity Visa documents to the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). After reviewing your documents, KCC has determined that you have not yet provided sufficient documentation that you meet the passport requirement. Please review the information below and verify that you have submitted all requested documentation.
Beginning with entrants in DV2021, each DV entry must include the passport number, country or authority of issuance, and expiration date for the principal applicant’s valid, unexpired passport. If the passport used by the principal applicant to enter the DV program differs from the one currently being submitted, you should also include a photocopy of the principal applicant’s passport listed on the DV entry with a written explanation for the change to KCC. If you requested an exemption from the passport requirement at entry, you should provide an explanation of your qualifications for the exemption you requested.
August 2, 2021 at 19:36
Did you type it in the email you sent with the documents attached? or, You typed the explanation and converted to word document, pdf or jpg? If you don’t send the explanation in pdf, jpg or word doc. [email protected] system will not recognise the explanation only the documents will be visible, so please rectify it.
It happened to me submitted docs in February, got further document required in march, kept on sending after reply to inquiry demanded for docs, delayed till i sent the explanation in pdf in addition to the rest of the docs in pdf, then I got DQ email in June.
August 2, 2021 at 21:14
Yes Stephen I just typed it in the email I send with the documents.
August 4, 2021 at 04:44
That’s no good. Put it in the pdf
August 3, 2021 at 15:29
Thank you Stephen really appreciate your help.
August 4, 2021 at 04:36
They seem to think your passport doesn’t match what you used at entry. Did you enter the passport details correctly? If so – make sure the documents are clearly named, send again if unsure.
August 2, 2021 at 20:10
Hello Brit Simon,
Please as I told you, I submitted my relationship evidence which is pictures and our Whatsap chat between my wife and i to the embassy on Friday via DHL, This Monday morning, I tracked it to see if it has been received by US Embassy Ghana and I notice they have received it this morning @7:30 am…
So I then checked my visa status, and it is still on refused… And the last date updated on the visa status site is 2nd Aug 2021,which is today… What could be the problem?
Can I still submit more evidence to the embassy via DHL because I just got my calls history from 2018 to date from my network provider… Can I send them as well?
August 4, 2021 at 04:38
You will have to be patient. It could take some time to review what you sent.
August 2, 2021 at 20:49
Dear Simon
Dv21af58xxx, goodluck plaintiff . KCC are still processing dv21 documents eventhough as you said in your latest video there will be very few cases, if any, that will be scheduled in sept.
1) Is it a sign that dv21 will continue beyond 30 sept?
2) Or is it that they are keeping only plaintiffs cases DQed for further processing when judge issues orders
3) You also said very little or no interviews for dv22 from oct to dec. Perhaps they can utilize this period to keep issuing for dv21? Seems a waste of 3 months if no dv visas issued from oct-dec
Your thoughts and opinion please
August 4, 2021 at 04:42
1. No
2. No
3. That can only happen with a court order. They are not worried about wasting visas.
August 2, 2021 at 20:50
Hello sir, My wife won the dv lottery 2022 this year, we are living in usa right now, so we are planning to do the adjustment of status, and we already paid the dv lottery fee also, I am wondering, is there a deadline to submit the documents to the Usicis? Please help me to figure this out. Thank you
August 4, 2021 at 04:43
It is really important you learn what you are doing. Read the linked document from the first message in this thread.

Hello Brit, thanks for your great work, I happened to work as a security personnel in the US Embassy in my previous company back home, am a DV 2022 winner, so in the question about if I have special training in fire arms, nuclear, chemical and other stuffs, I unknowingly ticked yes, but in the actual sense we were not trained how to use firearms, nuclear or any other stuffs as mentioned in the question, apart from security basic trainings done at the US embassy. So I had already requested KCC to unlock my form in order for me to tick ‘NO’ to that question, was it that necessary for me to unlock the DS 260 form?, would it cause me problems during the interview since I have no specific documentation on those trainings?
August 4, 2021 at 04:55
It is important to be accurate on that question, so unlock if needed.
August 3, 2021 at 04:27
Hi Dear team!
My case has been selected for the year 2022. Just now I found out that on the initial DV application I made a mistake on DOB Month.
Current: 21.03.1988
Expected: 21.02.1988
Everything else OK. Is this Gonna be a big deal? Can I fill DV260 with correct information and can I tell the CO that I mistyped the month o my DOB?
Hope you guys faced this kind of a case? Please, give any suggestions and advices.
Thanks & Regards
August 4, 2021 at 04:56

Hi Brit, dv2022sa6 **. When filling out the ds-260, we did not know the exact date of beginning and end of military service, so we put an approximate (Jul 14) and now when we check and the certificate says Jul 1. My question is: Should we unlock the ds to change the dates or is that not serious?
August 4, 2021 at 04:59
Not a problem.
August 3, 2021 at 16:32

Hi Brit Simon,
Thank for all the info you provide for the people. I want to ask you one question. In “Additional work/education/training information” part of DS260, there is a question “Have you traveled to any countries within the last 5 years?”. I answered it NO, because I haven’t traveled anywhere in 5 years time. However, this month I’m planning a vacation by car going through several countries in Europe from east to west (I’m european). Will I need to unlock DS260 to change the answer to this question? Please answer, thanks.

Hi Brit, I am a 2021DV winner. I am a GOH plaintiff based in Cairo/Egypt. I am documentarly qualified since May 2021. As we are expecting a final decision for GOH lawsuit, I am preparing for the interview. My husband and I lived in the USA from 2017 till 2020 based on L1A visa. I am late 30s he is mid 40s, we have a very good credit score “above 770” and we have small amount of money in a US bank. In addition, I had my 1st equivalency exam in US back in 2018 and I passed it but still have more exams to pass to be fully licensed pharmacist. I mentioned this in my DS260. My question is: do we need to ask a sponsor to fill in the affidavit form for us? for sure I will bring bank statements and FICO score.
Thanks.
August 4, 2021 at 05:03
It’s your decision about how to prepare. You might be OK with what you have.

Hi Brit
I am dv2021AF36***, submitted documents in May but following your updates realized I have no chance of being interviewed by September 30. How can I be part of a lawsuit to secure a visa or am I too late?
August 12, 2021 at 22:48
Too late to join the lawsuits, but the lawsuits may achieve a result that would benefit all. Wait and see.

Brit Sir, I did my medical on March 24, which means expiring on sep 24. My interview is on aug 25. Previously we have known that visa is valid 6 months from the date it is stamped (after the interview). However can u explain the meaning of visa is limited to the validity of the medical please sir.
August 4, 2021 at 05:07
The visa will be dated to expire 6 months after the medical. So – unless you plan to travel immediately, you should repeat your medical.
August 3, 2021 at 22:33
Brit,
A Passport expiring in next month, does it need to be renewed and re-send to KCC for a DQ?
When submitted to KCC, the passport was valid and had more than 6 months.
August 4, 2021 at 05:08
No – you can take the new and old to the interview.
August 4, 2021 at 08:17
Thanks Brit
But Some selectees used to say that they are not Documentarily Qualified because their Passport has now less than 6 months of expiration. Would it be wise to send renewed Passport to KCC anyways?

If you want.

Hello Brit, myself and my spouse had our interview today, DV 2021, the consular officer asked only about how met and how our marriage was ,as well as our occupations .My wife the principal applicant even submitted her copies of appointment letter of her current profession, and she also requested to see our wedding pictures which we sent an album along. After the interview which lasted for a little over 5mins , she gave us a letter and told us the dv is a process and she will need time to review additional documents but didn’t ask us for any documents to be sent but told us, she’s putting us under AP.
1. Please do we still have hope of getting our visas tho we submitted all required documents, original and photocopy at the interview which has been kept by the embassy. Thank u

Hello Mr. Brit, Do you know the percentage (more or less) of winners who submit their DS260 before the start of the fiscal year? for example: DV2022 winners, who submit their DS260 before September 2021.
August 4, 2021 at 05:09
I don’t know.
August 4, 2021 at 01:23
My passport expires in January so do I need to unlock Ds 260 and change the old one with the new one? Or is it better to send the new passport with the documents?
August 4, 2021 at 05:10
Renew and take old and new to the interview.

Hi Brit! I am from Argentina. Here we have 146 visas … maybe 73 case numbers. SA has approximately 3,000 visas, and Cuba and Venezuela have approximately 2,000 visas together. My question: can be an advantage to be in a country with few cases? Another question: if the majority of the low case numbers are from Cuba or Venezuela, and the highest from countries with embassies without many DV cases, they distribute the case numbers by embassy availability, or just by case number I don’t know if I am clear enough.
August 4, 2021 at 05:11
It’s not really an advantage normally – but maybe it will help this year.
Distribution is random.

Hlo brit sir,
I want to ask u something, plz reply its urgent,i don’t know why my life is changing like this,me and my partner want to get divorce after around 2 and half year of marriage,i am dv winner of 2021,things are not normal between us,i want it sought out quickly,1) i am DQ’d in march 11,waiting for 2nl,at this stage i cant open ds form for this change, will this divorce effect my dv process, will they reject me for this reason,i am the principle applicant,
2) i want to know if we get divorce before interview will my partner able to get interview with me or only i can get interview? I submitted ds form for both of us.
3) do i don’t have time to unlock ds form, can i submit divorce document at the time of interview directly.
August 4, 2021 at 05:13
You probably don’t have time to get divorced before an interview anyway, but in any case just relax and be honest. Your spouse does not have to attend with you if he/she is not applying to go with you to the USA.
August 4, 2021 at 07:23
In our place divorce can be done within few days if its on mutual understanding..i filled ds260 form for both of us,will ds260 require both of us at the time of interview even after divorce?i have all original documents of marriage etc,
August 5, 2021 at 13:28
I already told you, you don’t have to apply for both of you.

Hi Simond.
I, my wife and children have interview in a few wks to come in Yaounde.
Sir, my wife is a derivative and not well educated, I’m scared she might not answer question properly in English during the interview.
1) can this cause visa denial?
My children are well educated.
August 4, 2021 at 06:56
Hello Oliver, I think you said earlier that you were Liberian and for that matter your interview location was in Monrovia. If I am not mistaking, can you let me know how you successfully transferred your case to Yaoundé.

1. No

Hello Brit. We had our interview today. How does an embassy decide if me and my spouse are actually married. We got married in feb 2020. That was before Dv lottery results for 2021. We were given a card that says that visa has been approved but the consular said that we need to verify if you guys are speaking truth, and in ceac stat it says refused in my wife’s portal but mine says ready. We had a legal document from district court stating our marriage date. We did take some pictures of us too. I’m so confused Brit, please help us with answers. what could this possibly mean? And also, they kept our passports which would mean a positive sign but it says refused in my wife’s case. I cannot leave my wife and go to states. What should I do?

You should calm down and wait.
