Hello,
Does the US Embassy in the Philippines operate diversity visas?
Iam form Sudan
December 22, 2021 at 04:40
Yes
December 17, 2021 at 19:01
Dear Sir,
Does the US Embassy in the Philippines operate diversity visas?
December 18, 2021 at 04:46
Hey Brit. OC13## here 2022.
So I’m wondering if I should pre-emptively change my location for my interview? It looks like the sydney embassy is still closed, and all those interviews that are relocated to Melbourne aren’t DV interviews.
Should I just wait and see?
December 22, 2021 at 04:41
You will have to decide for yourself.
December 18, 2021 at 09:39
Dear Simon,
Sorry if this may come across as a daft question. Just wondering…
If everything goes well at the interview and I am eventually given a visa, it’s initially for 6 months, right?
So, if my CN is current in January, but KCC delays the procedure and my interview is postponed until, say, March / April – will the countdown of the 6 months of the visa start from March/April, or the month my CN was originally current in, i.e. January (regardless of the actual interview date)?
Regards.
December 18, 2021 at 09:49
6 months will count from your medical date. That date will be on your visa.
December 18, 2021 at 15:15
Thanks for the reply. Is the medical checkup normally adjacent to the interview?
December 18, 2021 at 16:27
It depends on how the embassy works with the health center completing the medical. Usually you have your medical then go to the interview taking the medical results with you. My interview with the Amsterdam consulate was earlier, but had to book my medical by the interview time and give them the details. Once the doctor signed it off it took about 2 days to get it approved and another 5 days to get the visa and the package. My medical was on 14th of September 2021, and my visa validity is 14th of March 2022. My interview was on the 26th of August. It really depends, but visa validity follows the medical date.
December 22, 2021 at 04:44
@Ryan, as Blanka said – it’s the medical plus 6 months and you book the medical yourself.

Dear Mr. Simon
I am the winner of DV2022 from Azerbaijan.I have a very serious problem.I witnessed the appearance of additional applicants in my DS260 form without my knowledge.I repeatedly wrote to the KCC to explain the situation. They told me that only the consular officer I would interview would. I am single. I have never been married and have no children.I have confirmed this in my DS60 form.In addition, when it comes to the interview, I will bring with me a certificate of celibacy, which is included in the required documents,as approved by the full authorities.I will participate in the interview alone.I am very worried that the continuation of this situation, the appearance of 2 additional applicants (one as my child and one as my spouse) in the form, may cause me serious problems for future interview. I ask you to show me a way to solve this problem. Thank you in advance.
December 22, 2021 at 04:43
There is no “solution” – you must have shared your details with someone. You cannot delete the other applicants, so the fact that you explained to KCC is all you need to do.
December 18, 2021 at 14:17
hello mr.simon
Is it true that kcc start sending the DQ now based on the case number and not the date of ds 260 like before .
thank you
December 18, 2021 at 15:39
Hi Simon, Case No. 2022AF33000 with the introduction of this new guideline of no DR, how many days/weeks/ months does it take KCC to unlock DS260 request? The date of completion on my Msc certificate is December 2020 and what I wrote on my DS260 is July 31 2021. Sir should I unlock and fill in the date on certificate or can I correct it at the interview. Will correcting it at interview pose any problem of visa denial? Thanks so much
December 22, 2021 at 04:45
That is a trivial detail – no need to unlock for that.
December 18, 2021 at 23:11
Hi Simon!!
Today in your Q&A you mentioned that, after the recent KCC document procedure change there still exists a DQ procedure. It’s just different from what it was a couple of weeks ago.
Care to elaborate?
Yes, it might be speculation as we don’t have any data right now, but please let me pick your brain a bit about the DQ going ahead for DV22.
I’ve got my own theory too. It’s a logical one in my mind but need not be right. Would love to hear what you’re thinking it.
I’m currently DQ with AS12XXX.
December 22, 2021 at 04:47
There is more and more evidence that they are still doing some processing on DS260s – just as they did before documents procedure.
Either way, there is still a status of DQ. There is no doubt about that.
December 23, 2021 at 13:32
Dear Mr. Simon, If there still DQ status exists, do we need to send the documents?
December 24, 2021 at 19:25
No
December 18, 2021 at 23:25
Hi Simon, I chose London (UK) as my interview location. As I need a Police Certificate from New Zealand I assume I ask the New Zealand Police department to send it to the US embassy in London rather than Auckland? Cheers
December 22, 2021 at 04:49
Follow the process described on the reciprocity page for NZ.
December 19, 2021 at 05:32
Hello dear Mr. Simon,
Two days ago I sent inquiry email to KCC for knowing about my case status and after 7 hours they responded me this:
“Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.” By the way my case number is 2022AS8xx and did not receive any Dr or Dq before.
would you please explain what is that mean?
December 19, 2021 at 06:05
Ds-260 submission date is May 27 and no unlock
December 22, 2021 at 04:50
You have been allocated to an embassy which happens immediately before 2NLs are sent out so you can expect a 2NL in the next 2 weeks.
December 19, 2021 at 06:44
Hi Britsimon
Am Dv2021, recently in US, week ago, started working at company but my employer is telling me my Visa is gonna expire Jan 7th 2022,
I waiting for permanent card which I paid it fee in Africa 3month from now.
I have my social security already
Do you have experience on this scenario.
What document should I provide?
Thanks
December 22, 2021 at 04:56
When they tell you you have a “visa” – correct them. You are an LPR and the immigrant visa that was endorsed is proof of that. You should receive your GC soon – but if needed go to USCIS and get proof of your LPR status.
December 19, 2021 at 10:03
Hi britsimon
I filled d ds260 in August and put to bed in after that my question here is do I need to unlock the ds260 again to to fit the information for d new baby. case number AF42k
December 22, 2021 at 04:58
Yes of course. As soon as the baby is born, you should unlock the DS260s of the parents to correct them and add another DS260 for the child.
December 19, 2021 at 11:45
Hi ????????
In case of applying for I-134, are we still qualify for California low-income benefits (healthcare insurance, housing, etc.) for the first year of living there or not?
December 22, 2021 at 04:59
I advise people to arrive with a plan to be self sufficient. I don’t know anything about the benefits you describe.
December 19, 2021 at 17:50
Hello Mr. Simon,
What does it mean by visa “cut Off” . And when did this happens or in which FY year?
Thank u sir.

December 19, 2021 at 20:30
Hello Sir,
I hope you are fine!
I have heard that a copy of the confirmation Ds-260 should be brought to the interview.
Which one should we bring if we have it unlocked?
And also mistakenly the first confirmation was deleted by me, will that create problem?
Than you in advance
December 22, 2021 at 05:02
Take whatever you have.
December 19, 2021 at 23:14
Hi Simon
How many months bank statement should we show at the interview?
I am unable to complete the registration process which is required for embassy to send passport as there is no dv category. Should i contact ksa embassy for it?
December 22, 2021 at 05:02
3 months.
Look more carefully at the options.
December 20, 2021 at 01:34
Hi Brit,
Our interview was at the American embassy two weeks ago and our visa was approved by the consular officerso, so far we have not received the passport, Why is it taking so long?Normally, how long are you supposed to wait?
thanks
December 22, 2021 at 05:03
I believe they have system problems right now in printing visas. Patience.
December 20, 2021 at 11:03
Hi Simon,
I am selected for DV2022 as a principal applicant, I have a child with disability(Emanuele Syndrome). Is our diversity visa could be refused because of this.? Please advise.
December 22, 2021 at 05:03
No
December 20, 2021 at 14:12
Dear Mr. Brit Simon,
Thank you very much for the support and consultation given to us so far. We won the DV lottery 2021 and hoping to migrate next month. I have couple of questions which needs some clarification.
1. In the USA travel website, it states that a visa does not guarantee entry into the United States and must establish admissibility to the satisfaction of the CBP officer. How should we prepare ourselves for this and what are the documents we need to arrange to show other than the passport with visa, the sealed visa packet and medical x ray CDs.
2. Before leaving my country, I need to claim my employee provident funds from the Department of Labor of our country. As a proof of migration, they are requesting a photocopy of my immigrant visa in my passport. I’m not sure whether the content in the visa are sensitive and whether we are suppose to keep these confidential. So, is it okay to provide these?
Thank you
December 22, 2021 at 05:04
1. No need to overthink that. It is not an interview.
2. Yes
December 20, 2021 at 17:34
Hello Brit,
I’m trying to check my case number on check status portal but there is an error is popping up and says it ” Entrant Status Check is currently experiencing technical difficulties. We apologize for any inconvenience. ” do you have any idea whats is going on in there by the chance?
December 22, 2021 at 05:04
It was broken. Fixed now.
December 21, 2021 at 00:06
Hey Brit! thank you very much for all your patience and help in our journey.
I got a question. I just notice that there’s is a form that we and our sponsor (if applicable) should complete in order to bring this to the interview. But not sure how do we have to do it, is it a online form as ds260? Or its a physical form we have to fill and print to bring it to the interview also with the sponsor supporting documents?
Is the i134 really important to fulfill?
December 22, 2021 at 05:06
I recommend all applicants to get an I-134 if they can.

December 21, 2021 at 05:49
Dear Simone,
Hope you are doing great!
I am working on submitting DS 260 for my wife’s green card AS85xx. However, in the DS-260 form, it asks, “Do you seek to enter the United States for the purpose of performing skilled or unskilled labor but have not yet been certified by the Secretary of Labor?” What should be the answer for this question if I have an approved I-140 under national interest waiver (I believe this is labor certification.).
Please help me with your advice.
Many thanks
December 22, 2021 at 05:07
Answer “yes”. It is noyt an important question for DV cases.
December 21, 2021 at 15:34
Hi Brit
Its Ross again, I’m stocked to choosing between sending an email to KCC or just be patient and waiting for KCC more, would you please advise me what to do?
I’m from Iran, my case number is 4000 and I have submitted my DS-260 on Aug 9th, recently I’m seeing many of other cases has gotten their either DSQ or 2NL also some of these cases are even over my case like 4800 or more in Iran! Would you please advice me what to do on this situation?
December 22, 2021 at 05:15
Patience.
December 21, 2021 at 21:49
Hi Mr Simon,
2022EU1*** I submitted my DS260 file in June. When my number current in September. Then, about a month later submitted my documents to the KCC without being asked to do so. So far no news from them. So kindly answer the following please;
1. Should I resend my DS260 though I haven’t received any email from KCC for sending required documents to the KCC?
2. Do I need to email them about my case?
Best regards.
ibrahim.
December 22, 2021 at 05:16
1. No
2. No
December 22, 2021 at 04:58
No need to send anything else – just be patient.
December 22, 2021 at 11:29
Hello BritSimon,
I won the DV lottery 2022. As my case number is arround 20 000, i suppose to get my interview in like june or july. So maybe getting the visa in august. My passport expired in february 2023 and I cannot renew it now, I already sent all my informations ( ds260 and documentations ) for awhile.
So because my passport will expire about 6 months after, or less, is that could be a problem to obtain the visa at the ambassy ? I’m french and get my interview in Paris.
Thank you
Youri
December 22, 2021 at 22:55
I just don’t see what problem you think you have.
December 23, 2021 at 17:24
The fact that my passport expires not long after I go to the interview.
December 24, 2021 at 19:30
1. That is months away.
2. You could travel with old and new passports if needed.
December 22, 2021 at 14:06
Hello Brit,
After submitting my DS260 in my home country, I’ve moved to the United States on an F-1 student visa for studies.
Should I file an AOS or wait for the interview in my home country. Case no. AF46XXX
December 22, 2021 at 22:57
You can choose either way. AOS has some advantages. Good info here:
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2022-aos-adjustment-of-status-only.344334/
December 25, 2021 at 00:51
Very good info BritSimon. Thank you.
December 22, 2021 at 16:37
Hi Mr simon I unloked my ds in novembr for change occupation in usa I submit first time my ds in 1/6 what do you think have i a chance?
December 22, 2021 at 22:58
I have no idea about your case.
December 22, 2021 at 17:21
Good day Mr Britt. Can one pass a dv visa interview if he or she played the DV entry without a passport but was selected for the FY 2022? What can he or she say to the consular officer for him to be granted a visa? Case of dv 2022
December 22, 2021 at 23:00
I don’t know whether they will approve such cases or not – we have not seen enough examples to be sure.
December 22, 2021 at 18:00
Hi Brit, I am 2022DV93xx, I have got my appointment on January 28th. Following my concern about my passport expiring in May 2022, i have contacted London embassy and this is what they said. “You will require an unexpired passport valid for six months beyond your intended date of entry into the United States.” which is pretty much what is in the instructions. but to be honest the window is very short for me to travel to my country and renew it since we don’t have an embassy or consulate services in the UK. I really don’t know what to do.
December 22, 2021 at 23:00
Attend the interview and replace the passport as soon as possible. If needed you can travel with both passports.
December 22, 2021 at 19:19
Hi,
In Dec2019 i applied for B2 visa and i used a recent photo. The visa denied due to trump ban.
When filling the DV2022 i re used the same photo (11 months old at that time).
(I am a spouse not the main applicant and all other applicants photos are recent)
How likely this will be flagged by kcc or the embassy? And if Yes, could the CO overlook the mistake?
December 22, 2021 at 23:01
Yes they will probably overlook it.
December 22, 2021 at 21:27

Please pllleae guide me
December 22, 2021 at 23:10
If you live in Turkey you should be fine to be scheduled there.
December 22, 2021 at 22:23
Hello Brit.
I am a DV 2022 winner AF4**
My parents are Nigerians but were born in Ghana in the 1950’s and the lived there for several years trading in textiles.
But I was born in Nigeria in 2/8/1988 when my parents returned to Nigeria for my granny’s funeral.
I applied with Ghana as country of eligibility.
Will this be a problem during the interview?
December 22, 2021 at 23:09
Yes you could be denied. I assume you were not married to a Ghanian at the time of your entry and since you describe your parents as Nigerians (even though you said they were born in Ghana), I suspect there is more to the story than you are telling me.
December 22, 2021 at 23:35
Actually, my parents have Ghanaian heritage. My maternal granny is Ghanaian. My Dad’s grand mother was Ghanaian too.
Can I refer to my parents as Ghanaians?
I just happen to identify more with Nigeria cos I was born there and my grandfathers are from there.
I used this exception cos that’s the only way I can be eligible. I wasn’t married when I entered the lottery. I got married later to a Nigerian before filling the DS 260.
There’s no hidden truth.
my aunt who lives in the US told me to apply using this exception.
Is there any chance I can convince the CO at the interview?
December 24, 2021 at 19:16
You seem very confused. You describe your parents as Nigerians, but you say they were born in Ghana, and some Ghanaian heritage also. So what makes them “Nigerians”.
I really don’t know what chance you have. The CO will decide.
December 23, 2021 at 01:52
Hi Simon, being a high case number (OC25XX) I’ve resigned myself to not getting an interview after seeing your analysis. But one thing I do not understand is when looking at the CEAC data for OC DV2021 charted by Xarthisius there are case numbers up to 3400 getting visas, admittedly the volumes in the upper end could be minute as the measure is percentage, but:
a) how do these high cases get visas when there are so many lower case numbers in NVC? I thought interviews had to be scheduled in case order
b) Is it possible that COVID is causing disruption such that Embassies processing OC cases outside of OC countries are given higher cases numbers than Embassies in OC countries?
Thank you
December 24, 2021 at 19:20
a. When all cases go current the priority becomes DQ date order. However, due to the mess over the last couple of years the quotas were no exceeded or threatened. So – what you saw is understandable but has nothing to do with this year.
b. Anything is possible. So – for instance. If Sydney doesn’t interview cases, they won’t hold back the rest of the region waiting for Sydney.
December 24, 2021 at 19:21
By the way, I would not “give up” on your case. Lots could happen between now and September 30.
December 23, 2021 at 02:21
Hi,
First, I would like to thank you for all what you do to help people with their DV cases.
I have a complicated case and would like your input and advice as well as answer if you could.
our story:
My wife and I lived in the USA for few years in Diplomatic visa A2 and before with a student visa (total of 10 years ) we have a US citizen daughter. Our A2 visa was going to expire in the US May 2021 so we applied for the DV lottery and then we decided to leave the USA before our visas expire to Canada as refugee since I am from Yemen. when we got to Canada we noticed that we won the DV lottery 2022. so I submitted all Ds 260 and choses to have our interview in Montreal.
my question now is since we came to Canada as refugees our Passports still held at the Canadian immigration and I am not sure that we can retrieve them before the interview day. The Canadian immigration says that they only return them once we have the PR and that could take two years or more. From your experience, how can we go to the interview without our passports? is it possible ?
Thank you very much
December 24, 2021 at 19:21
I don’t know. You can discuss with the embassy once scheduled.
December 23, 2021 at 03:43
Document forgery like yours is one of the most sensitive thing in the USA which is a normal thing in Nigeria and Ghana reason why there is high case denial in those 2 sister countries .
December 23, 2021 at 06:39
Mr Joe,
Which document did I forge? My birth certificate? My Bachelor of Pharmacy degree? My Police report? What exactly did I forge?
I’m only trying to find out if I will have issues at the embassy because of my peculiarity.
Please be mindful of what you accuse me of.
Not every Nigerian is fraudulent. I’m proud of my Nigerian & Ghanaian heritage.
December 23, 2021 at 04:55
Hi BritSimon,
We had our interview on Dec 5 and it went well, did not exceed 15 minutes. Yesterday (December 22), we received our passports with the visas. We are entering the US on December 31.
We have the following questions:
1- In the interview, we asked the consular officer to correct the name of the state in the address where the green cards will be sent. He said we could do this when we’re in the US. Can we correct the address when we arrive there at the airport?
2- We’re staying in a hotel for three weeks. Can we use the hotel address for green card delivery instead of the address we put in DS260?
3- We’re going to pay the green card fees before entering the US. After we pay, can we still correct/change the address when we’re at the airport?
4- We have an 8-year-old son. Can we enroll him in school before receiving our green cards?
5- Can you please recommend an insurance company where we can buy a visitor’s insurance for one month?
Many thanks for your help.
December 24, 2021 at 19:25
1. Yes – but that is the absolute last chance.
2. No you must use a friend. The GC might not arrive for months.
3. Yes

December 23, 2021 at 06:37
Hi Simon i ask Kcc what’s happening with my case because I’m current from October 2021 and my cn is low 2022EU17XX they answer this:
What exactly does this mean?
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov. If you need to make changes to your DS-260 you should contact the consular section where you will be interviewed, or bring the information about your changes to your interview appointment. Because your case is ready to be scheduled, KCC can no longer unlock your application.
Consular officer in my country sad that they don’t have my case i their office YET …….
Thanks for your help….
December 24, 2021 at 19:22
That email is sent when the case is has been allocated to an embassy, but the 2NLs have not been sent yet. If the embassy has capacity and is open you can expect your 2NL very soon.
December 23, 2021 at 14:45
Good day Brit,
Thank you for all your advice during this process. It has truly been invaluable.
I would like some advice regarding my case. I am the main applicant (2022AF24xxx) and married my wife after being selected for this year’s DV. I have added her to my application and completed our DS260’s in October.
We have completed the applications using her maiden name (as this was her legal name still at the time). Due to covid, changing her surname is taking much longer than it should. This process is ongoing and I am not sure when we will receive new documentation with regards to her name change. If this occurs before we have our interview, will it be a problem that we used her maiden name and not my surname? Or is this something that they understand happens in situations like this and we can discuss this with the consular officer? If not, would it be better to unlock the DS260 and await her new documentation before submitting again?
Regards,
Eduard
December 24, 2021 at 19:28
They will understand. No need to stress.
December 23, 2021 at 15:15
Hello
I am currently in the process of Aos and I was wondering about the required birth certificate does it have to be in the last 3 months ? Or is an original birth certificate that i brought from back home about 1year ago valid?
December 24, 2021 at 19:28
Varies according to country requirements as specified on the reciprocity page.
December 23, 2021 at 16:24
Hello Brit
I submitted my documents two months ago and waiting for the document qualification email. I received today an email from [email protected]
You have received this email notification to inform you that you have updates available at https://dvprogram.state.gov/ESC. Please log in using your confirmation number from your original application to complete further processing.
What does this mean?
Regards
December 23, 2021 at 17:11
That is your 2NL. Log in to the ESC page and you will see the appointment schedule.
December 23, 2021 at 20:52
Hello Britsimon,
1. I’m Ethiopian, My case number was 2022AF10XXX , Based on your experience by considering the removal of document procedure, do you think that KCC has enough time for scheduling my case before Sept 30,2022???
2. when will start 2NL come out for dv 2022?
3. when will start dv 2022 interview in Ethiopia?
Thank you sir
December 24, 2021 at 19:38
1. You are already current, but I don’t know anything about your specific case.
2. Some have already been sent.
3. I don’t know.
December 23, 2021 at 21:11
Hello Sir,
I hope you are fine.
I asked KCC to give me some information about my case and then received this
Thank you for your inquiry.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing
Can you please tell by what do they mean by this?
My case is current.
Thank in advance

Hello mr Simon. In your last video someone from Albania CN 11K, goted DR on december 2, asked you when will be his interview. You told him maby in march.
I am from Albania, CN 11K but submitted ds 260 july 1. Can we say that my case number is in the same situation? Your answer will be very helpful. Thank you

Maybe, but more likely April. The March interviews will be based on cases that are DQ by late this month. So – the question is how quickly KCC process cases between now and the end of the month – they would have to clear out May and June submissions.
-Mr Simon, this was our conversation on December 5th. Do you think that with the new rules( without DR and DQ), process will be faster for my CS, or it will be the same. Thank you

Speculation is not precise. Wait and see.

Hi Simon!
I got my visa in September and moved to Chicago in October. I have not yet received my official green card in the mail, and today I received a notice that I have to go and give my biometrics in order for it to be processed. Is this normal? I expected to just receive the green card in the mail, so I don’t know if this is new or if I just didn’t understand the process!
Thank you!

It happens in some cases – not a big deal.

Thank you. Is it just a case of getting my fingerprints done, or do I need to take photos again?

I don’t know what they require in your case.

Dear Simon,
I chose Embassy A as my default post on DS-260.
I noticed that this embassy doesn’t not work well, so I changed it to embassy B in September.
Now embassy A is seem to work better than B…
If I change my embassy again from B to A, will that cause my case any harm or delay? will they put my case at the end of line of embassy A?
Embassy A: Ankara
Embassy B: Abu Dhabi
My CN: AS10k
No Email received by KCC until now.
Thank you Sir.

You will have to decide for yourself. But constantly moving around probably causes more harm than good.

Dear Brit
When I submit my DS-260 form on June in the confirmation Page it says “Completed date is On 02 JUN 2021” but after I found some simple mistake I request KCC to reopen my DS-260 and I made all necessary correction with in one day of my request. After I resubmit the form I have found that the “Completed date is On 11 DEC 2021” on the confirmation page. My question is dose this will affect me on delaying my case if KCC is processing DS-260 by submission date. My case no. is 2022AF00015xxx
Thanks in advance

Hi
I transferred my interview location to Bangladesh. Do they work on diversity visas?
December 26, 2021 at 16:43
They can, yes.
