Hi Simon,
I have sent in my DS-260 and prepared and already prepared all the necessary documents. As I have a high case number (EU 34k range), I want to do whatever possible to increase my chances of getting an interview. Would you still recommend sending documents to the KCC before being contacted?
Upon submitting the DS-260, they wrote “you do not need to submit any documentation to the KCC. The KCC will review your application and will notify you if any of the information you have provided is insufficient or incomplete. You DS-260 file will be kept on file with the KCC until a visa number is available for you and your case can be scheduled.”
Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting scheduled? Have I misunderstood that high CN can get scheduled before lower CN if they send their documents earlier and get DQ earlier?
May 9, 2022 at 14:25
You will still need to submit documents for DV2023. Even if you submit your DS260 and documents fast, you will not be scheduled until your case number is current. Depending on how badly they mess up the process this year, that might not be until very late in the year (late summer 2023). Your number is your number. So – yes I will be advising people to submit documents early, BUT it won’t overcome your high case number unless KCC create another dysfunctional year (which actually could help you).
We also don’t know how many selectees there are this year, not the highest numbers in each region. It is too early to know.
May 9, 2022 at 16:17
Thank you for answering.
Not that I have any control over it, but I am curious as to how the KCC having another dysfunctional year could help high case numbers? I was under the impression that due to the slow processing caused by COVID they never actually got to the higher case numbers despite reporting the VB as ‘CURRENT’. If this is too irrelevant or complicated to answer I understand.
May 10, 2022 at 14:58
It’s a bit complicated, but let me explain it this way.
If this year is TOO OVERSELECTED, and WELL RUN then that would mean there would be regional cutoffs in place that will mean some high case numbers never get a chance for interview.
However, if the year is TOO OVERSELECTED, and BADLY RUN (for whatever reason) the government could make the regions current because they want to use the capacity at as many embassies as possible. Basically they “give up” trying to organize it in the correct manner and chaos ensues. Then the year becomes like the wild west where any case number could have a chance, and both low and high case numbers could be lucky, or not. In that “chaos” scenario, *some* high case numbers would have a chance that they really shouldn’t have had.
If you think that latter scenario is far fetched, that is pretty much what has happened in DV2020, DV2021 and DV2022.
May 10, 2022 at 16:51
I see, that makes sense – thanks for explaining. Well I really hope this year hasn’t been too overselected and my high CN is explain by there being many holes.
When do we find out how many selectees there are for DV-2023?
May 10, 2022 at 23:14
Probably July.
May 9, 2022 at 11:55
Hi Simon,
I have been selected. Is OC10XX a good number? Could I start the DS-260 application and the entire process in the US with an ESTA?
May 9, 2022 at 14:32
Pretty good number, yes. You cannot adjust status from an ESTA for a few reasons.
1. The ESTA doesn’t allow you to stay that long (your number won’t be eligible for interview until early 2023)
2. ESTA is a visa waiver. You cannot adjust status from an ESTA, because there is no visa status to adjust from.

Hi can you please give me info about the USA lottery.
I just found out I won the lottery.
I was born in South Africa.
But I have only finished 2 years of High school. Then I left school and went to study at a Technical college for a hairdresser for 2 years.
I did do my trade test in South Africa in 1990 and I am a qualified hairdresser.
I did work as a hairdresser in SA for about 5 years then left SA 23 years ago and live in Hong Kong now and became a house wife and work as a hairdresser from home.
My husband is a Airline Pilot . So after all the info will I still be able to get my green card stuff sorted out and move with my husband and child to USA?
We do have the funds to set up in the US and live there.
My husband also applied for the EB5 Investment visa in 2019 Sep and EB2 in 2021 Nov.
(Seeing that there is a shortening of pilots in the US)
We are still waiting .
May 9, 2022 at 14:47
If you are the principal selectee you would need to meet either the education or work experience requirement. If I understand you correctly, your education would not have been at a level sufficient to enter UNiversity (US “college”). Your education and experience as a hairdresser would not qualify you, and in any case they look for experience in the past 5 years. It sounds like you would not meet the requirement either way. So – that will probably disqualify you from the program.

Hi Brit,
I have been selected for dvlottery 2023 and when it comes to medical history I have had TB 3 years ago and got cured fully. So I don’t have it right now but I’m scared about it’s scar. What should I choose between YES or NO? Please help!
May 9, 2022 at 14:48
I am not a qualified doctor, and I don’t have the question you are referring to in front of me. Just answer as best as you can.
May 9, 2022 at 13:12
Hello dear Mr. Brit Simon,
I am a DV2022 winner with case number 2022AS13XXX. Country of chargability is Iraq living in Amman Jordan. I submitted my DS-260 form for myself and my wife and 3 children in 5th November 2021 and put US embassy of Amman Jordan as embassy choice for interview. I have been waiting for an email from KCC to send my civil documents and eventually get an interview appointment ever since. Nothing so far.
Here are my questions:
1. Do you think I still have a chance to receive an email from KCC and eventually an interview date?
2. Is there any advice you can give me regarding my situation? Maybe send KCC an email inquiring about my case? Or go to the US embassy in Amman myself and ask them in person?
Thank you very much for all the help you have been providing for us. May god bless you
May 9, 2022 at 15:04
1. I don’t know.
2. You can ask KCC. The embassy know nothing about you until KCC sends the case (2NL).
May 9, 2022 at 13:41
Hi Simon,
What’s your take on the following CN: 2023EU27XXX? Would it be too high?
Many thanks.
Cheers
May 9, 2022 at 15:32
We don’t have the number of selectees yet, nor the highest case number in each region, so it is too early to guess.
May 9, 2022 at 13:55
Hi Simon,
I Have Done A big Mistake in My birth date Exactly The Year when i fill to DV LOTTERY 2023. i Was Born in 1988 and I Fill 1989 because the mistake in my passport . And I dont know what to do ??
May 9, 2022 at 15:31
You would correct it in your DS260. Your passport should be corrected also.
May 9, 2022 at 21:54
thank you so much sir
So the next step is to make another passport with the correct birth day, then i fill the ds 260 with the correct information
May 9, 2022 at 15:03
Hi, I would like to know if you provide consultations? I am DV2022 winner, getting ready for my interview. I would like to consult with if possible. I appreciate your help.
May 9, 2022 at 15:23
I don’t, no. In reality if you have an interview scheduled there is almost nothing to worry about . You don’t need to “prepare” for the interview, the interview is very quick and easy.
May 9, 2022 at 16:18
Hi Brit, I have 2 children with my fiancee, but we are not married. We participated in DV2023 program by separate and she won! Now… how can I enter in the family group? Thanks a lot for your help!
May 10, 2022 at 14:59
Yes you would get married and file as a family.
May 9, 2022 at 16:48
HI SIMON
I WON LOTTERY 2023 AND ON THE DV APPLICATION I ENTERED MY CHILDS NAME WITH A DIFFERENT SPELLING THAN IN THIER PASSPORT WHAT SHOULD I DO ON THE DS260?
SHOULD I FILL THE DS260 FORM WITH THE NAME TYPICAL ON THE PASSPORT OR SHOULD I ISSUE ANEW PASSPORT FOR MY CHILD THAT HAS THE SAME NAME SPELLING AS THE DV LOTTERY FORM?
May 10, 2022 at 15:00
Enter the correct details on the DS260.
May 9, 2022 at 17:32
Does a gray/light gray background work for the DV lottery photo? Not sure if I’m overthinking it.
May 10, 2022 at 15:01
A light plain color is fine.
May 9, 2022 at 17:36
I have already submitted my DS-260 form, which, from what I understand, tells the US government that I have an intent to immigrate. However, I will also be going to New York for vacation in July as my brother has been accepted to Columbia University and I want to help settle in and explore NYC together. I have been to the US on vacation many times over the past few years without any trouble at all at the border. I will still have a valid ESTA on my next trip.
I was wondering whether the fact that I submitted a DS-260 might cause trouble at the border despite having an ESTA? Is there a chance that they might not let me in because I have shown intent to immigrate? Has that happened to anyone you know? Is there anything you would recommend I bring to ‘prove’ that I would never break US migration law and that I truly am just there on vacation. I am currently a university student in England, should I bring proof that I will not graduate until June 2023 therefore meaning I must return to England to continue my studies?
May 10, 2022 at 15:02
The submission of an immigrant visa application (DS260) is only considered when you apply for a non immigrant visa or ESTA. If you already have an ESTA it won’t be a problem for entry.
May 10, 2022 at 16:41
That is reassuring, thank you.
May 9, 2022 at 17:53
hello mr brit , I just got selected in the dv lottery2023 in Asia region with a case number of 17k now I live in Cairo should I look for other embassy to do my interview since Cairo is too slow and I might get rejected ? and if went to interview in Cairo which number I should wait for the 17k in Asia or 17 k for Cairo and Africa ? thank u
May 10, 2022 at 15:03
It is far too soon to be thinking about whether Cairo will be slow when your number is current (about 1 year from now). You will go by the AS region on the Visa Bulletin.
May 9, 2022 at 18:26
Hi Mr Simon, 2022EU00016xxx
I recived e mail from KCC with scheduled interview in June. I submit DS 260 in october ’21 and submit supporting documents in february’ 22 even they did not ask me to do that.
Question is do I need to send scaned documents again, or just to bring them in ambassy on interview? KCC never ask me to send documents.
Thanks
May 10, 2022 at 15:04
Take them to the interview.
May 11, 2022 at 16:09
Thank you. One more question: Do I need to bring on interview proof of finance stabillity (bank statement) for my familly? We don’t have financial sponsor in USA
May 11, 2022 at 17:38
Yes.
May 9, 2022 at 18:28
Hi Simon. I’m a winner of dv2023 from Italy and I’m taking a few days to study the ds-260 form before submitting it. I have a few question:
1) I’m 26 and has always lived with my parents at the same address for about 18years. Last year I lived in the U.K. from October 2020 to June 2021 but I didn’t like it over there so I came back. So in the Ds- form what should I put in ‘started living here’ in the present address section? 18 years ago or last year when I came back. Also, do I need to provide a Uk police certificate (I lived there for 7 months).
2)I have 8 social media but I have never posted anything on some of them (for exemple pinterest). Should I include them? Also, I have never posted anything concerning on my social media but I wonder if they check your friends’ accounts too(for exemple my friends on Facebook)
3) I don’t have anyone who can host me in the USA but I need a permanent address on the ds-form. Can I put a hotel address? There are different opinions on this. I’m not sure what to do.
4) I’m currently completing my degree. So my primary occupation will be STUDENT. I’m also doing a 3 months unpaid internship so I will put it in ‘other occupations’. I have never worked before this internship so the answer to the question about previous employment is NO. Do you see anything doubtful about a situation like mine?
5) educational institutions attended at secondary level or above: they ask when you started it, when you finished it and what you got (diploma, degree, etc). I’m attending a university but haven’t completed it and do not have a degree yet. Is it correct to put high school but not university despite the fact that i’m enrolled in one?
Thank you
May 10, 2022 at 15:27
1. You should study the instructions, not just the form. If you had, you would know the answer to the police cert question. As for address history, break the address timeline up so you list the home address, then UK, then the home address.
2. Yes provide the details.
3. There are no differing opinions from people that actually know. The USA address is simply for delivery of the Greencard. You cannot use a hotel to receive the GC, nor any commercial address, mail forwarding service and so on. However, you can pick any address now and change it during the interview or at the Port of Entry.
4. No
5. The university will be your current occupation, not education history.
May 9, 2022 at 19:41
Sir.. when I fill out the DS 260 2023 for me and my wife and children, do i fill our one ds 260 form or each family member should have a separate form?
Aslo as for the medical check w
here do i do it and when?
May 10, 2022 at 15:30
One DS260 for each person. The medical is done just before the interview. You book it yourself just after you get the 2NL (the notification of the date of the interview)
May 10, 2022 at 16:12
Hello Sir.
I heard that one DS 260 for the entire family because in the summry information page there are a box applicant info there is a field (IV application) which all family members are listed.
However when I open the DS 260 for a member of the family other than the main applicant what info should i put ?case number and last name and date of birth?
May 10, 2022 at 23:08
You heard nonsense. One DS260 per person. Use the case number for each person.
May 9, 2022 at 19:42
Dear Simon,
“2023AS8XX”
– An immigration attorney wrote on his Twitter account this tweet:
( “2 tips of caution about completing DS-260! ⚠️ ⚠️ :
Tip 1) A common mistake we see each year is when people start DS-260, they enter the confirmation number wrong or date of birth in the wrong format, and they end up trying 3 times.
If you try 3 times unsuccessfully, your DS-260 gets blocked. The procedure then to re-open is difficult as you have to contact Embassy who gives you PIN, and then KCC, which is very slow procedure which can take weeks or more”. )
1- Is that tweet true?
Because for two days, I have been trying to access to my DS-260 dozens of times and from several browsers, on mobile and PC , and the following error appears:
“your request cannot be processed at this time”
I’m afraid my DS-260 has been locked
2- If the tweet is correct and my ds-260 has been blocked, what should I do?
Thanks.
May 10, 2022 at 15:15
Thank you I finally opened my DS-260 today.
– But this tweet is controversial, I don’t think it’s correct because it doesn’t make sense.
– I would like to know if it is correct?
May 10, 2022 at 15:31
It is true, but that won’t have happened with the current problems on the CEAC system.
The servers are overwhelmed with everyone trying to submit their DS260. So you will find it will get better in a few days, OR you can try at different times of the day.
May 9, 2022 at 20:17
Hello Simon,
I am a class member in the certified Gomez class. Can I apply for a 6-months tourist visa while I wait or would that jeopardize the green card offer? I know that if you apply for something like a P3 visa, that you cannot apply for a tourist visa simultaneously. I don’t want to risk loosing my green card.
Thank you!
Claire
May 10, 2022 at 15:33
It won’t cause a negative impact to the DV case.
May 12, 2022 at 14:12
Thank you, Simon! I am filling the DS-160 as part of the B2-visa application. Not sure how to answer the following question:
‘Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?
Yes (Explain) / No’
Does submitting a DS-260 as part of the green card application and/or being a class member in the certified Gomez Class is considered to be ‘an immigrant petition’? What should i answer?
Many thanks,
Claire
May 13, 2022 at 05:12
“yes”
May 9, 2022 at 22:32
Hi Brit,
Thank you for your time and information.
I am a 2022OC16** winner, my case is ready for interview processing. I’ve changed my embassy to Suva. They have accepted and KCC informed me my location will be Suva. Currently waiting on my 2NL. Have you heard of the time frame of 2NL’s currently being sent?
I’ve also won 2023OC14** year :))) Will sending in the DS260 for 2023 interfere with my process this year, as my case this year is ready for interview processing?
Any info or advice would be helpful.
Thanks Brit! Cheers 🙂
May 10, 2022 at 15:37
I think you’ll hear from KCC about a Suva interview pretty soon – perhaps later this month.
May 10, 2022 at 23:00
Thanks Brit! Should I hold off my DS260 for fincial year 2023? Not sure if that will interfere with this year?
May 10, 2022 at 23:43
No impact.
May 9, 2022 at 23:12
Sir,
I entered the DV for my sister but I Lost the confirmation code and also I tried with tools to retreive the code but non possible. I am quite sûre I do not remember wich email I used. I tried all e-mails but not working.
So sad to know there is no means to know the results
May 11, 2022 at 09:30
Sir,
No other mean KCC to help me to retreive it?
May 11, 2022 at 12:06
With names and full date of birth I can retreive it , but do not know the email
May 11, 2022 at 14:11
No.
May 9, 2022 at 23:31
Dear Simon,
2022EU17XXX
I completed the DS-260 form in June of last year and the case is still at KCC. Every time I contact them, they give me a generic response that they’re still processing it and that it will take few weeks. They haven’t even asked me for supporting documents.
My visa number is current as of last month and I am starting to get worried. Since I am in US on an F1 visa, should I do AOS instead of waiting for consular processing? Would that be faster and/or safer?
Respectfully,
Andrej
May 10, 2022 at 17:47
Yes you should probably do AOS.

May 10, 2022 at 00:30
1.I won the 2023 lottery, but, I had an expired passport at the time of registering for the lottery, and at that time I was not legally able to get a new passport. I can prove this with a legal document.
I was not eligible for any of the three options for not having a passport.
As a result, I changed the expiration date of the passport during registration. In fact, I had a legal passport and I entered my passport number correctly.
Just because my passport had expired, I entered a new expiration date.
Since the Passport Requirement Act was blocked in February, am I at risk of being rejected if my passport had expired when I Register? Will I be accused of lying?
2. As a new passport holder, do I need to enter the new passport number at the end of the DS-260 form, or do I need to use the same passport number that I used for my initial application?
How do I notify kcc of my passport change? Note that I have not yet submitted the DS-260 form
May 10, 2022 at 17:48
1. As you know, the passport rule was blocked, so no problem.
2. Use the new one.
May 10, 2022 at 01:04
Hi
First of all, thank you for all your videos on YouTube!
I have been selected for further processing. CN is: 2023EU00025XXX so filing of DS260 is not available yet. My place of birth and Foreign State Chargeability is Poland but currently, I live and work in the US as an L-1a visa holder (Wife :
L-2 with EAD and our daughter’s L-2 school) so our all lives are already fully connected to the US ( SSNs, IRS taxes, etc, etc. )
My question is what ( in your opinion ) is better for us: regular process or adjustment of status?
And which is most likely to be faster than other
Thank you so much!
May 10, 2022 at 17:55
AOS would probably be better. There is a good comparison and lots of AOS info at the linked document from the thread below.

May 10, 2022 at 02:03
Hello,
After submitting the DS-260 in Last May 2021 and checking the visa bulletin every month. I noticed that my number should come up in May 2022. till now I haven’t received any emails to submit supporting documents or to pay any fees. Is there a site I should visit ?Or maybe a step I missed ?
I would appreciate to hear back from you.
May 10, 2022 at 20:51
There are many people who are current now (almost everyone) and there is not enough capacity nor visas to satisfy them all. So all you can do is hope you will be lucky.
May 10, 2022 at 04:15
Dear Simon,
I posted a reply to your response but it didn’t appear in the thread for some reason, so I’m creating a new post to ask this. In this comment of yours – https://britsimonsays.com/ask-questions/comment-page-688/#comment-310010 – what exactly did you mean when you said “it should be clear before then (i.e. the end of July) that some cases have zero chance”? How am I to understand whether my case has zero chance? (Seems so unfair that with a low CN, EU90xx, current since January, I may be facing a zero-chance situation). Is there anything I can do at this point? (As a reminder, the latest KCC email I received said, “Your case number is now current for interview processing. Once the interview date has been scheduled, you will receive notification via email”, and you’ve explained it’s all down to the local embassy now.) Do you reckon this is a 0-chance case or should I still be hopeful?
May 10, 2022 at 21:25
Cases that are not even processed before July will have no chance. Your chance is further on that that, but it depends on your embassy.
May 10, 2022 at 05:03
Hi Brit,
I have read the link previously sent to me in regards to the questions the CO will ask. But it was more like the experiences that was shared on the link.
Can you please with your experience advise what are the likely questions the CO may ask at the interview to a young married couple?
Please advise as we want to prepare well for our interview.
May 10, 2022 at 22:39
If you read the interview experience stories you get the best idea of the sort of things they ask.
May 10, 2022 at 07:13
Hi Simon,
Thankful for your grt Support and Quick revert!
My Spouse with DV 2023 for the EU category. (He is an Indian National and the claim of eligibility of his entry is My country of birth Germany as me holding Srilankan nationality). Case number is 2023EU19*** .
1. I have applied for the my Indian Citizenship and it may get processed in 6-12 months from now( Approx) , so if in case it get processed before I get my interview scheduled for my US Immigrant Visa then is there any deviation in my CN process, as there will be a change in my nationality (from Srilankan to Indian) but not in my country of birth (Germany) .
So the question is whether the Entry picked for my spouse in the EU category has any dependency on my Nationality(Srilanka) or my passport change? Or it does not have any dependency with my current and future nationality as it is categorised with Germany(EU) (country of birth).
2. Or is it advisable not to change the nationality as of now till I get the result of my interview, as My nationality (Srilankan) may somehow help me with my spouse CN process , in addition with his CN picked category (EU)? or this CN only dependent on my country of birth?
2. As current 260 will have my nationality and passport number of srilankan document ID , in case I receive the Indian nationality after the interview and visa stamping in my current Srilankan passport How will I manage this ?
Please assist
Regards
Sharmi

Hello Simon.
My question is regarding filling out the DS 260 2023. I have been selected for the dv 2023 . we are five members of the family so do I fill out one DS260 from for all members of my family or every one should have a seprate form? can you explain to my how to use the IV application feild please! also do we need to have the financial support form I-134 or no?
May 10, 2022 at 22:43
One DS260 for each person.
I don’t understand your IV field question.
Yes the I-134 is often required.
Number your questions.

Hi Simon,
I’m a DV2022 lottery selectee with a case no of 704 from Oceania region (Sydney Australia), as the VB case no.s have gone past our case no, does that mean we have missed out on DV2022 altogether?
Also the Sydney US consulate is moving offices and I believe they are not taking any DV interviews, is that actually correct or should I be patient? Just concerned fiscal year end is around the corner and we will miss out on this opportunity.
Also, what is the latest timeframe a embassy will conduct interviews before fiscal expiry?
Look forward to your feedback.
Regards,
May 10, 2022 at 22:44
I suggest you consider transferring your case to Suva. They have taken some cases recently. OR you can wait for Sydney, but they don’t appear to give a crap about selectees at the moment.
May 11, 2022 at 02:49
Thanks for the reply, Simon, what if I change to the Melbourne embassy which is closer than Fiji and if so how do I go about it?
May 11, 2022 at 04:18
Melbourne are not handling DV cases.
May 10, 2022 at 08:44
Hello Brit
Thank you for your effort in providing us essential information in pursuing our DV cases. I’ve been one of your follower all these while and I’m happy to inform you that I’ve been issued my Visa for DV 2022.
But I’ve this question bothering me which I want you to assist how to go about it.
My host that I was to stay with in the US is busy and will be out of the country for couple of months, therefore he’s told me to find new host which is not a problem to me that much.
1. The only problem I’m left with is how I can go about changing my mailing address for my permanent residents card (green card) since I will be staying at a different address now from the one I submitted into the DS-260.
2. Also I haven’t paid my USCIS immigration fee yet, can I do the transaction in my home country (Sierra Leone) through my local bank debit card.
3. Also if you want to pay the fees online an address is required to be fill out, is the address suppose to be your US address or the address of your home country you’re immigrating from.
Thank you once again sir.
May 10, 2022 at 22:45
1. Change it at the Port of Entry.
2. Pay after you enter if you want.
3. Again, pay after you enter.

Hi Britsimon.
My fiance just won DV2023. Case number 2023AF14XXX . Upon playing, she listed her child. But she won’t like to go with her now. She intends to leave alone .
Pl is there a possibility of leaving the child behind without any negative effects. or any trays of fraud.
pls help advise us on what to do.
May 10, 2022 at 22:46
No problem. She just doesn’t complete a DS260 for the child.

hi simon
i just won dv2023 af5xxxx i suppose my number is very high and my country embassy is processing last year winners cases very slow and everyone is recommending to choose another embassy in africa for interview in th ds260
1- can i make my interview location other than my address location?
2- my children spelling names in the eDV forms are different from their passport ( their edv names are the correct spelling ) what is better to do issue new passports for them using the correct spelling as written on edv form but it wil delay submitting the ds260 form until i receive the new passports or can i proceed filling the form using their current passport names which will be different from what i summited in the eDV form??
May 10, 2022 at 22:47
1. Ignore what everyone is saying – they cannot know what will be the situation in a year from now.
2. The DS260 should have their accurate information.

Hi Simon,
Me (Malaysian, principal applicant) and my husband (Iranian) did our interview in January in Malaysia and our case went for AP. The officer also requested for an additional doc from my husband and they received it on 10th Feb. We have been waiting for AP clearance since then (our medical examination expires on 7th July).
I am a B1/B2 visa holder and I will require to travel to the USA for my work for 2 weeks in Q3 of 2022.
I want to ask:
1. Will this 2-week business trip affect our AP/visa issuance (after AP clearance) in any way?
2. If DV visa is issued before my business trip, since my B1/B2 will be cancelled, can I travel to the US with DV visa for business purposes (assuming that I had not quit my job right after getting my DV visa)?
3. Will I need to inform the embassy once my trip is over in case our case is still in AP?
Thanks
May 10, 2022 at 22:49
1. Maybe. It depends on timing.
2. Your husband must enter with you or before you.
3. Well your case cannot go past September 30th…
May 10, 2022 at 11:46
Hi Britsimon.
I would like to know if you provide consultations for this case?
I am a DV2023 winner, when I entered the Diversity Lottery my brother was filled the form, unintentionally he had selected Single while I am a married and have three children. So, can I add all of them DS-260 form, because I can’t leave my children alone or can I go ahead as a single?
May 10, 2022 at 22:50
There is no need for a private consultation. You will be disqualified.
May 10, 2022 at 13:29
Hi Brit,
regarding dv 2020 any updates , i am dv2020AS15***
May 10, 2022 at 22:54
The appeal is still ongoing and we won’t hear anything until September.
May 10, 2022 at 14:47
Hi
My case number is 2023AF0000XXXX. Does this mean my case number is very low?
Thank you
May 10, 2022 at 22:55
No. It means you have hidden too much of your number.
May 10, 2022 at 14:54
Hi Brit. My sister won. She played with her children. Her oldest daughter is 20 years old and the daughter has 2 kids. In the entry she only put her daughter and not her grandchildren. Now that my sister won. What will happen to her 2 grandchildren?
May 10, 2022 at 23:00
The grandchildren cannot be included on the DV case. It would take 2 to 3 years to bring them after the daughter enters and lives in the USA. So she will need to decide whether to be included on the DV case or not.
May 11, 2022 at 02:08
Thanks Brit for your response and for everything you are doing for the DV community.

Hi Simon,
I applied for the DV Lottery for the first time and got selected for DV-2023 with the case number AS63XX. Now I’m learning about the process and I have a few doubts. I’d be grateful if you can give your valuable time to clarify these.
1) Do you know the highest CN for my region? If yes, is mine high or low?
2) I applied for a passport but couldn’t receive it because of the COVID situation in my country. The Department of Immigration gave me an application acceptance and payment receipt and there’s an
application number and a date on it. So I filled out the passport number and date of issuance fields on the DV-lottery entrance form with these details. But now that I’ve received the passport, the passport
number and the date of issuance details are different from the previous number and date I’ve filled
the entry form with. Do I need to send an email to KCC informing this or is it okay to just wait for the interview and give supporting documents at the interview? (Haven’t sent the form DS-260 yet)
3) What is the procedure to include a spouse after I submit form DS-260? (I’m planning to get married in a few months)
4) Do I need to meet BOTH the educational and job requirements?
Thank you.
May 10, 2022 at 23:03
1. No, but yours is obviously low if you apply a little logic.
2. You may need to submit some documents after the DS260 submission. Otherwise yes you would need it at the interview. No need to tell KCC.
3. https://britsimonsays.com/marital-status-getting-married-dv-lottery-process/
4. No, one or the other. Usually education is evaluated first.
May 10, 2022 at 15:23
Hi Brit, sorry for coming again, I won the Dv2023 but cant complete the filling of the form for up to 4 days now. It keeps telling me your request cannot b process at this time? Can you please help?

Hi Simon, my mother is among those who won DV2023 and my father is her derivative. The thing is she doesn’t have the work experience to be qualified for GC and she just finished 3 years of high school many years ago. but she is in the process of getting her high school diploma by finishing the 4th year soon which means 12 complete years of study before entering University and I can’t remember if I chose High School Diploma or Some High School courses when I was filling the DV Entry Form for her
My questions are:
1. Knowing that she didn’t have her high school diploma at the time of DV2023 Form Submission and the fact that she is going to get it soon(two months), is she still going to be qualified for the program ?
2.if I chose the high school diploma as her education by mistake while she didn’t have it at the time of DV Entry ,is she going to be disqualified?
3.Are derivates required to have either the necessary Work Experience or Education like the main applicant?
May 10, 2022 at 23:08
1. No. She must have completed the education as part of a formal course of education when she was younger OR meet the work experience requirement. If she does not meet the requirements she will be refused at interview and the fees lost.
2. What you wrote is not a problem. The reality is.
3. No
May 12, 2022 at 14:53
Hi Simon, sorry to bother you again with the same question. Just to remind you it was about my mother getting her diploma soon.
For the matter of your answer being clearer to me, what you said by answering ”No” eventually means that even if she gets her high school diploma before interview and provide it at the time of interview, she is still going to be refused?
I want to add that in DS-260 which I am going to fill it in later ,I will mention that she has high school Diploma.
Thank you

My previous answer covers this.

Hi BritSimon. Thanks for your work and support. I am a Dv2022 winner from Armenia. I have made my entry with ID card number just because I did not travel out of it and did not have a passport. I sent my Ds260 with passport and got a message that my case is current to have an interview. Do you think that ID card for entry will cause me problems? I have also read that passport rule is gone now. Thanks a lot!!!!
May 10, 2022 at 23:09
No problem.
May 10, 2022 at 16:19
Hi Simon,
What do you think of this:
I put my country of chargeability as New Zealand, my parents were born there, but I was born in Australia.
My parents became Australian citizens well after I was born.
Have I ruined my application?
I’ve gotten a fairly “low” number OC1XX.
Currently I am in the US on non-immigrant working visa, so dual intent is a concern if we proceed and are not able to get the DV.
May 10, 2022 at 23:10
Mistakes in chargeability are forgiven when the countries concerned are in the same region and you did not improve your chances by the mistake. You’ll be fine.
May 11, 2022 at 01:53
Thanks for the info!
Also, apologies, I couldn’t see my initial comment so I re-posted.
Took me a while to realise there’s multiple pages of questions on the website here!
May 11, 2022 at 04:24
Yep, multiple pages indeed.
May 10, 2022 at 16:22
Hey Brit,
I had a question regarding the passport rule removal. In my counrty of origin, there are two numbers in the passport: the passport number and ID number. I used the latter instead. Will it be a concern? Which one should I use in my DS-260? Should I stick with what I used initially or get it rectified? Thanks,
May 10, 2022 at 23:10
Use your current passport and be accurate.
May 10, 2022 at 17:13
Hi Brit,
“2023SA1xxx”
1. My wife won the DV 2023, her current passport expires in Dec-2022 but she will receive her new passport in early Jun-2022. So she should wait for her new passport and enter the details of the new passport in DS-260 before submitting? Is it too late to wait till Jun-2022 to submit the DS-260?
2. Her documents are in her native language(Spanish), she should get them translated in English for this procedure?
May 10, 2022 at 23:20
1. She can submit now and update later or wait – either way is OK.
2. Translations are not needed if the documents are in the official language where the embassy is located.
May 10, 2022 at 17:14
Hello brit.
I know you are probably getting this question a million times, but based on your experience and predictions for this years dv, do you reckon 2023EU22xxx is a good number?
Been a hassle so far completing the ds260 form with the servers giving up but hopefully we can get there
May 10, 2022 at 23:21
In most years that would be a good number.
May 10, 2022 at 17:27
hello Mr, I am winner of the dv 2023 with a case number of AF00017k, I am from Guinean origin but I study in France and I have a part-time student job. my question is: when filling in the ds260 I must indicate that I am a student only or I must also add that I work. ? thank you for your reply
May 10, 2022 at 23:22
Enter only your main occupation.

Hi Simon,
I will finish my current bachelor’s degree in June 2023. I will be applying for a Master’s degree in the US in January 2023. This degree would start in September 2023.
1.) Since I have a high case number (EU 34k range), if I were to get an interview, I suspect it would be in August/September. Would this somehow interfere with getting a student visa?
2.) Would you recommend getting the F-1 visa as early as possible (120 days before starting studies) so that I could then go for AOS when my number becomes current?
3.) Would doing AOS make it more likely that I could get a green card before they run out?
4.) If I have already submitted the DS-260 form and chosen the embassy (Brussels), would it still be possible to change to AOS? If so, how would I go about this?
5.) Does the fact that I am from Belgium help my chances of getting an interview before they run out of visas? (Since it usually has a very small amount of DV applicants and selectees).
6.) What is the highest 2023 EU CN you have heard of so far? I have been browsing a Turkish (my second nationality) Green Card forum and have seen at least 200 different CNs. The highest I have seen is 35k, which makes me worried that I am at the very very very upper limit, rather than just fairly high.
I realize it may seem quite early to ask these questions, however, I want to be as prepared as possible as early as possible. For example, I have already gathered every single document needed for the process.
May 10, 2022 at 23:26
1. Depends on timing. Sounds like you would have the study visa first.
2. You would have to be in the USA and studying – so timing would probably not work out.
3. Not really.
4. Yes, but it is far too soon to make that decision. Patience.
5. No
6. EU36XXX. Yes you are high, but we don’t know why numbers are high yet.
Relax dude. This is a marathon.

Hi Simon,
I have been selected in the DV Lottery 2023 for the further processing. Because I am from Nepal where existing cut off number for 2022 June is 5700, I think my case number is too high to be called for interview i.e.2023AS00011XXX. What would be in your opinion regarding my chance to be called for further processing this year?
May 10, 2022 at 23:27
It is far too early to know that.
