Hello Simon,
1. Does Asia usually reach its maximum quota of DV each year?
2. What’s the usual range of Asia’s DV quota?
3. If I want to change my interview location (AS26k) because I’m moving residence, and my case is still at KCC, how long does it usually take for the case to transfer?
4. Do I contact just the KCC to change my interview embassy if my case is still at KCC? (ds260 not processed yet)
Thank you very much?
May 7, 2022 at 04:53
1. It usually gets close in normal years.
2. 8500
3. There is no “usually” at the moment.

Hello Sir, Namaste ???? Im 2022 DV winner. But while entering DV application my only first name was miss spelled or miss entered on may 6 my interview was sheduled But the officer refused my visa saying that the name missmatched . My email adress,my date of birth, my other details why can’t be matched ? Do I have any option to prove for another chance ?
May 7, 2022 at 04:54
It sounds like he may have suspected fraud. I don’t know if they have given you a final refusal, or AP. If it is final, then that is pretty much the end.
May 7, 2022 at 05:35
What does it mean when thwy say this ” DV-2023 Entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2023.”?
Does this mean the draw takes many different times and that if for example, today, someone gets not selected message, they can still wait until Sep 30 2023 to see if they are selected or not 100%?
Thanks Simon.
May 7, 2022 at 05:36
Again. Just one draw in SOME years.
May 8, 2022 at 03:37
Please I cannot find the link to ask my question, that why I chose to ask it here, probably it may be because am using my phone.
Please I am 2022 selected with case number 2022AF19xxx, I submitted my DS 260 in Oct 2021, my case is still at NVC, and have not received 2NL yet, do I still have a chance?
Also I go married few weeks after I entered the lottery, as I include my wife and some month old baby in DS-260 is it legitimate?
May 8, 2022 at 03:45
Yes you may have a chance, depending on your embassy and whether it is working. You can email KCC and ask them your status.
Yes it was fine to include the wife and baby.
May 8, 2022 at 21:06
Mr Simon,
Please I am DV 2022 selectee with case number 2022AF13xxx. I submitted my form in Nov 2021, as at now, I have not received my 2NL. I mail KCC in April, and they assure that I should wait for several weeks.
Accra Embassy too is accepting case offlate.
What might be the cause and do I still have a chance?
May 9, 2022 at 01:10
Until September 30th, every case has “some” chance, but many cases will not get their visas. It depends on the embassy, and in reality, Accra embassy is not doing well. So you are at risk.
May 7, 2022 at 06:27
Hi Mr Simon pls looking at the April vb are all numbers the same.i mean from 21k to 50k.will.they be schedulling based on case number or DQ date with regards to April vb.thanks for helping us
May 7, 2022 at 07:06
Hello Brit I am a selectee of 2022dv lottery married with one kid but I have other two kids before my marriage 19 and 15 years of which they are not leaving with me. Now during the lotterying I didn’t include them. My question is since they are not leaving with me during that time can I include them to the DS260 forms? or I should wait after I go to the State then I can apply for their coming to join me there. Thanks for your concern.
May 7, 2022 at 13:44
You broke the rules when you entered and will be disqualified.
May 7, 2022 at 07:41
Dear Mr. Simon,
I applied for DV 2023, and when applying I but the city of birth Cairo, Country Egypt. However, I was born in London, England but left when I was very young. My, birth certificate is Egyptian, which mentions the city of birth as London. I cannot provide any paperwork as a British person as I am not and hence should not be considered as part of that region correct. If I were to win today god willing will this be an issue or can I fix it in my DS260, mentioning the city of Birth London, all my documentation is Egyptian, Birth Certificate and passport, my only connection to London is that I was born there and left.
May 7, 2022 at 13:42
If you win (it is only a lottery) then we can address this problem.
May 7, 2022 at 08:09
Hello Mr Simon
I have applied for DV2023 and if I win, I intend to marry my girlfriend of 5 years, and immigrate with her. The marriage will occur after the results. How is this looked at? Is this allowed.
Please advise
Thank you for your help
May 7, 2022 at 13:40
Yes.
May 7, 2022 at 12:00
When I registered for the DV lottery 2023 I entered my old passport number, but recently I changed my passport. Do I require, enter the old passport number in the DS-260 or should I go with new Passport?
May 7, 2022 at 13:38
You would use the new passport number.
May 9, 2022 at 05:50
I am a winner of DV2023 and my case number is below 9000. Me and my wife are expecting our first baby in middle of June. Should i fill out DS 260 without mentioning kids or wait until baby’ s delivery then fill DS 260 out with the child information also in it. Please reply since I am confused.
May 9, 2022 at 13:42
Your number is meaningless without a region.
But yes, you would probably complete the DS260 now and add the baby later.
May 7, 2022 at 13:39
Hi Simon,
I have the 202366W9R7XXXXXX confirmation number when I am entering it to check its status i get this response “Invalid Confirmation Number: Please enter the correct confirmation number that is 16 characters long (example: 20221O0DZWY3DOV9)” .
Can you please tell me what might be the problem?
Thank you,
May 7, 2022 at 13:52
Easy. The results are not out yet – as the system doesn’t open for just over 2 more hours.
May 7, 2022 at 15:26
Thank you fir all that you do. What about using o*net? I do not have a bachelor’s degree but I am employed with my government for 8 years and I work in the administrative field as a Business Operations Assistant so basically my job description on my contract agreement is that of an administrative assistant but what I actually do is that of a technical writer. Do I put what is on my contract agreement or can I get a job letter from my supervisor stating that I am a technical writer? Because that is what I actually do.
May 7, 2022 at 15:27
Hello Brit
I’ve been issued a DV visa for 2022. Thanks a for the information you have been providing to us all.
I just want to ask this question
I played the 2023 DV, if it happens I win again will I be allowed to process my case because I played this time round as couple.
May 7, 2022 at 15:47
No, but you should be able to add your spouse now.
May 7, 2022 at 18:14
HI,

May 7, 2022 at 18:30
Congratulations!
May 7, 2022 at 18:22
Mr Simon
Why the date of the 1nl changed from 8 may to 6 june
May 7, 2022 at 18:30
It doesn’t matter.
May 7, 2022 at 19:59

May 7, 2022 at 20:40

May 7, 2022 at 21:12
Hi Simon
Thanks for ur revert.
And my husband hold indian passport and eligible for dv with above memtioned criteria….so do we get the interview schduled here in indian US consulate and visa get stamped in his indian passprt?
May 7, 2022 at 21:59
Yes.
May 7, 2022 at 20:06
Hello Simon,
CN : 2022AS11XXX –
I had filled DS 260 form with my Indian passport details on May 2021and will be attending interview with my valid Indian passport in May 2022.
Recently, I got an email to attend an oath ceremony for Canadian citizenship, but their certification will take 2- 4 weeks and then to receive the Canadian passport it would take again another month. India does not allow dual citizenship so I would need to cancel the passport within 3 months of receiving the Canadian passport
Would like to know If I need to get the visa stamped on the new Canadian passport as well once I receive it? Or can I travel with the new Canadian passport with the US visa on the Indian passport (which would be cancelled by the time I travel)? OR should I travel with the Indian passport – then within 3 months cancel the Indian passport in the US?
Thank you
Tom
May 7, 2022 at 20:39
You will need to make this decision based on timing.
May 7, 2022 at 21:10
Hello BritSimon i have 2023EU00014 Number, is it good number for this year?
May 7, 2022 at 22:00
I think you mean 2023EU14XXX (14 thousand range). Yes that is a good number. We don’t know the highest numbers selected or number of selectees yet, but in any case your number is not high.
May 7, 2022 at 22:31
Good day Sir.
Our interview is scheduled for 24th May,2022 but my wife is 8months pregnant.
We are a family of four (wife, 2kids and myself).
He had our medicals last week.
1. Can my wife’s pregnancy affect our chances in our interview?
2. Can my wife travel with us to the USA to deliver within her last trimester when our visa is approved?
May 7, 2022 at 23:33
1. No
2. Most airlines will not let her travel in such a late stage of pregnancy.
May 7, 2022 at 22:35
Hellow Simon
I win case # EU 12XXX,originally I am not European but I live and study Turkey probably when I apply I make mistake how should I correct I suggestion or concern through your experience
May 7, 2022 at 23:32
Where were you born? Did you grow up there? Are you married to someone from Europe?
May 7, 2022 at 23:43
I born africa,I grow up africa and I don’t married I am single, I did my passport number all information still I am confuse why I take EU code,
May 7, 2022 at 23:56
Then you are 100% certain to be disqualified. Do not waste your time or money on going forward with the DV win.
May 11, 2022 at 13:44
Sir it is not a mistake, people from Africa used to try things like this to play several times. It is due to such thing we do not have chance to win.
I know some people here they registrate with hundred girls as derivates to increase their chance to win, KCC should also check that before running.
Sir if KCC changes rules by asking high school diploma and university (if any) during the registration period you will see the outcome.
May 7, 2022 at 23:34
Hi Simon,
I’m part of Jesse’s lawsuit and waiting for the Sydney embassy to open/for the lawsuit to get us our interviews in either Sydney or Melbourne. A few of us have concerns about the OC quota though. Is this something we should be worried about at this point with the huge amount of cases being transferred to Suva now?
I don’t fully understand the quota numbers or how close we are to reaching that limit. I am confident in Jesse winning the case but if we don’t get a decision until August it may be too late if the quota has already been reached by then. I would love to get your input on this to understand it a bit more and when we should start getting concerned!
I have the option to also transfer to Suva but would rather not spend another $3000 after already joining the lawsuit, but am not sure when it will become too late to jump ship.
Thanks in advance!
May 7, 2022 at 23:55
The quota is a looming concern. Personally I would take the Suva option – I’m pretty sure that we have Jesse’s lawsuit to thank for them agreeing to take some cases, but as you say, others are taking that option while you are on the sidelines.
May 8, 2022 at 00:12
Are you able to shed some light on the amount that are realistically left and when you would expect it to hit that limit?
May 8, 2022 at 00:46
I can’t be precise, but as you can see they have already scheduled about the quota, so now it’s a matter of how many get refused (or no shows) and how far above the quota they can go borrowing from other regions. Like I said. Suva.
https://frankgh.github.io/dvstats/
May 16, 2022 at 11:38
Hi Brit just reading this. I am just wondering what you mean by Suva already reaching quota? Are you saying it is over for people in OC region if they haven’t been scheduled yet? I looked at the link and can only see just over 200. I am not sure how to understand that when there are 2500 cases scheduled. I am 10xx and have been waiting for months since being current and transferred to Suva.
May 18, 2022 at 19:51
Each region has a quota, not countries, regions. However there is some ability to move unused quota from other regions, so we cannot be precise about when the quota will be hit and scheduling stopped.
May 8, 2022 at 00:56
If l apply when am in acountry of residence for example am living in qatar but am augandan can this deny me achange to win the dvlottery
Second qn got 2 lids but not married to their father wat status to put
May 8, 2022 at 02:35
1. It doesn’t matter where you process your case.
2. You have to list your children. So – single with 2 children.
May 8, 2022 at 04:11
My girlfriend got selected. Me and my girlfriend was planning to get married in June this year. Is there a possibility to include me in this case. And are there any other approaches we can take or any suggestions you would recommend us to do
May 8, 2022 at 04:17
Yes you can still marry and include you on the case. Depending on her case number she could decide to file now as single, then add you once married, OR wait until you are married then both file at once.
May 8, 2022 at 04:13
Hi Simon
2022OC00004XX
On 24 Dec 21 we received an e-mail from KCC “Congratulations! Our records indicate that your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview when your case number becomes current, and appointments are available. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on region and which case numbers have already been processed. … ”
We are not part of any lawsuit. While we hope Sydney may get moving I note people are scrambling to get to Suva or elsewhere. If we sought a transfer to Suva (or any other foreign embassy) do the medicals need to be undertaken in Suva or the other Embassy location as well? Just trying to work out how long you would need to be in the other embassy location for medical/interview/return of passport. Thanks, Glenn
May 8, 2022 at 04:18
Glenn, it’s not looking good at Sydney. Maybe they suddenly wake up, but if it were me, I would be moving to Suva. You have the medical where you interview, so yep – plan to spend around 3 weeks in Suva.
May 8, 2022 at 04:14
Hi, I have a case number 2022AS22xxx i submitted my Ds260 and document in October and I haven’t received my to 2nl. Please advise me what to do. My number is current this month. What should I do?
May 8, 2022 at 04:18
Email KCC and ask for an update.
May 8, 2022 at 04:28
How long does KCC take to replay back. And if I called would they give me an update. Please let me know.
May 8, 2022 at 16:37
Up to a few days ago replies by email were fast – 1 to 2 days. You can bet that will immediately change as they will be getting 2023 questions. They don’t answer the phone.
May 8, 2022 at 23:09
Do you have any idea about Djibouti embassy and how long do they take to schedule an interview?!
May 9, 2022 at 01:14
No I don’t have specifics on embassies.
May 9, 2022 at 06:24
One more question. If I didn’t get my 2nl before September 30 this year do I have a chance next year to get an interview or do I have to file a lawsuit please let me know. And thank you so much for replaying back!
May 9, 2022 at 13:43
If you don’t get an interview this year, then your chance is gone. A lawsuit is only helpful if started well before the deadline, and even then is not a guarantee.
May 8, 2022 at 04:24
Hi Mr.Simon.
I would like to understand the relationship between the Country of chargeability and the Post. I saw some selectees’ post in their country while others have a post in another country than their country of charegeability. In my case, my country of chargeability is Morocco (which is correct) But the post was in China, because i reside here. Will this cause a problem for my case? Should i go back home and apply from there or shall I apply from China?
Thank you very much.
May 8, 2022 at 04:26
You process where you live – so no problem in your case.
May 8, 2022 at 05:33
Dear Simon,
Am I right in understanding that there must always be a month gap between the 2NL and the interview date? For instance, originally, my CN got current in January, and I remember you saying that 2NLs for January interviews were supposed to be sent out in November. Is this logic still valid even with delayed 2NLs? I mean, if September 2022 is the last month for DV2022 – is July the last chance to receive the 2NL (considering the 1-month gap)? If this 1-month-gap logic is incorrect, then when is the latest date I can still expect an email about my interview date? When and at what point exactly (July/August/September) should I assume there is no hope and I’ve lost my chances to get a DV2022 interview?
Kind regards.
May 8, 2022 at 16:43
Yes that is correct. The timeline can go shorter (especially as a response to lawsuits) by in general the last 2NLs for DV2022 will be sent by the end of July. However, it should be clear before then that some cases have zero chance.
May 8, 2022 at 06:27
Hello Mr. Brit Simon,
I am a DV2023 winner with case number 2023AS21XXX. Single male (age 28)
My country of chargeability (country of birth) is IRAQ and my (Post) which where I have been living and working since 2018 is KUALA LUMPUR MALAYSIA. So I hold an employment pass in Malaysia that expires December 2023.
My question is: When do you approximately expect me to have my interview when I finish submitting my DS260 by the end of next week considered my case number and the Embassy of USA in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia?
Thank you very much in advance for your help and effort. You have already helped a lot of friends and relatives in the past and the whole family is always grateful to you.
May 8, 2022 at 16:44
Probably about 1 year from now.
May 8, 2022 at 07:22
Dear Simon,
First of all, I must thak you for all for the great support you are giving to us.
My case number: 2023AS8729
My question is, in DS-260 form the ‘Given names’ field get auto fills up but last two letters are missing. Seems like that my name is longer than the minimum character length. Will it be a problem if I submit the form as it is? Or should I inform KCC about this?
Also my other question is, most of the time whe I tried to go to DS-260 form it says ‘Your request cannot be processed at this time’. If I keep on trying, is there a possiblity of my case number bieng locked? Thank you.
Best regards
May 8, 2022 at 16:49
If your name is too long for that field it is acceptable to drop the final letters.
The CEAC system for the DS260 is overwhelmed. Try at different times of day or wait a couple of days.
May 8, 2022 at 08:37
Hi Simon, hope you are doing well. 2023 winners who applied with no passport, is it must for them to have their passport for DS260? Thanks
May 8, 2022 at 16:50
No. They can use “other ID” for now – but they will need a passport at the interview.
May 8, 2022 at 17:40
It means they can fill their DS260 with identity card till they get the passport for interview ?
May 9, 2022 at 01:01
Yes
May 8, 2022 at 09:06
Hello, my spouse won the lottery but we have changed my daughter’s passport after the application. Now she has a new one and we don’t have any copy of photo of the previous one. What do I need to do in this case?
thanks in advance.
Regards,
TR
May 8, 2022 at 16:50
It doesn’t matter. Use the new one.
May 8, 2022 at 09:47
Hi Brit, writing to you after a long time. My daughter is a DV winner in 2023. She had already been accepted to a reputed university in the US for a pre-med undergraduate degree and we are in the process of obtaining an F1 visa. She has a very low case number AS1xxx.
1- Her university course starts in August. Can she immediately file for AOS as sooner she entered the US?
2-Can you suggest to me a good website where I can get complete information on AOS
Thank you in advance
May 8, 2022 at 16:58
1. There are some rules about how soon to file after entry. She should wait at least 60 days.
2. The thread linked below is everything you need to know about DV AOS. Check out the link on the very first post in that article and check on with Sm1smom. You can thank me later!!

May 8, 2022 at 11:38
Hi Simon.
I already mentioned on youtube that I have a pretty high case number. EU number in the 34,000-35,000 range. I was just wondering if you could confirm whether I understood the following correctly?
If the Visa Bulletin eventually shows ‘CURRENT’, will that mean that my case number being high will not matter as there are enough visas left for all remaining cases and I will most likely get an interview?
Thanks
May 8, 2022 at 17:02
That is what current means, theoretically – that there are enough visas remaining to meet remaining demand. However, we don’t expect to see CURRENT every year or every region. It depends how many they select and many other factors.
May 8, 2022 at 12:05
Hi Brit,
Finally, we received our interview date (for the beginning of June with CN 2022EU15xxx) and we are really happy for that. In our case my husband is the principle applicant.
We have 2 questions reagarding the interview:
1. In the interview information page it seems that they messed up some data. My husband’s grown-up child didn’t want to immigrate with us (therefore we didn’t even sent in a DS-260 for him). On the other hand, our little one’s name is not indicated for the interview, however, we did send in a DS-260 on his behalf. We also have the electronic confirmation that we sent in the DS-260 for the little one. I guess we should contact the Embassy or the KCC? Maybe both?
2. I received my PhD doctorate degree last week and now my question is if I should change my name and renew my passport before the interview or I shouldn’t complicate things now? (In our present country the Dr. is supposed to be part of my passport name and I should change all my documents).
Thank you for your answers in advance and our gratitude for all your help that you provide so generously – without these important guidelines we wouldn’t be here now.
May 8, 2022 at 17:04
1. You can simply inform the embassy that the child will be attending. It’s normal.
2. Personally I would not change the passport for that.
May 8, 2022 at 12:16
Hi Simon, many thanks for the information and your support. My case # is 2024AF61K, a bit on the high side as per my research. In your estimation, what are my chances of getting called in to interview?
May 8, 2022 at 17:05
I think you mean 2023AF61K – right?
All numbers seem high this year. THat either means a high selection year OR it might mean more holes. But we don’t know the number of selectees yet, nor the max case numbers in each region, so it is FAR too soon to be speculating about chances for any case numbers.
May 8, 2022 at 13:31
What is the requirements of the sponsor that we have to mention in the form. Like he or she needs to be a citizen? can some one with work Visa sponsor us? and what is the salary that the sponsor should be getting? like wise can you explain the requirements
May 8, 2022 at 17:05
Should be a citizen or perm resident.

May 8, 2022 at 14:03
Hello,
One more question from me. I am on business visa working in a different country (effective from 21 Feb 2022 – less than 6 months now). Do I need to obtain Police certificate from the country I am in now? If yes, how do I know when to get it? Do I need to get it during DS260 submission or once I am requested to submit the documents or when I am invited to interview? Do I need to get updated one when I go to interview? Sorry, too many question, just the police certificate issue is unclear to me.
Regards,
RT
May 8, 2022 at 17:07
You will need to read the instructions to determine which police certs you will need. Those police certs will be sent in with the documents (for DV2023 cases.
May 9, 2022 at 17:25
thanks for response.
I am currently working in Saudi Arabia based on business visa, unfortunately Police Certificate cannot be provided to me. Could you please let me know what to do in this case?
Regards,
RT
May 10, 2022 at 15:00
What do the instructions say?
May 10, 2022 at 17:51
I have tried to check the instructions but it is really difficult for me to understand it. there is a web page in the instruction that is used for the Police Certificate request but I don’t have local passport or work permit to apply for the certificate. since I am on business visa, I cannot apply for it.
Is there any way to talk to you directly (through a zoom or teams call)? I really don’t know how to find a way to get the certificate.
appreciate your help on this.
May 10, 2022 at 23:23
No I don’t take 1 to 1 calls.
May 11, 2022 at 10:48
could you please then let me know if being on business visa means that I am a resident?
May 11, 2022 at 14:11
No it does not.
May 12, 2022 at 12:21
Thanks Simon. So what do you think, should I mention my home country address as a “current” even if I am now in a different country based on business visa now? What will happen during the interview, will they ask me to provide Police certificate if I was in a different country for lets say 9 months (cumulative 9 months, as I have to re-enter the country every 3 months) on business visa.
May 13, 2022 at 05:01
You need to decide, but be honest.
May 13, 2022 at 06:01
I am honest, I just want to know which address I need to write, my residential address or where I am physically located now. I simply don’t understand which address need to be added to DS260. this is my only question.
Regards,
TR
May 13, 2022 at 13:37
You know where you are living.
May 14, 2022 at 11:49
I know where I am living, I am resident of my home country. can you just simply tell me which address need to be indicated in the ds260 form, resident address or address where I am physically located (even if not a resident).

Dear Mr. Simon,
I have a case number 2022AS00023xxx. KCC has replied me that I have completed DS-260 and provided all required documentation.
Question 1: I found I wrote my mother’s name wrong. Do I need to unlock and change the name?
Question 2: I will have a business trip to the United States. Do I need to unlock and modify the DS-260 after I come back?
Thank you for your help.
May 8, 2022 at 17:08
1. No
2. No
May 8, 2022 at 20:10

What Can I do please help
May 9, 2022 at 01:07
The CEAC system for the DS260 is overwhelmed. Try at different times of day or wait a couple of days.
May 9, 2022 at 04:30
Thank you for your time and help.
Do I need to mention and change the name during interview?
May 9, 2022 at 13:40
No, it will be in your DS260.
May 10, 2022 at 07:29
Thank you for your time and help.
But my mother’s name in DS260 is wrong.
Is it no problem?
May 10, 2022 at 22:42
It’s not a big problem.
May 9, 2022 at 07:04
Hi, can I know when you submitted your DS-260 & Which embassy you belong.
May 8, 2022 at 16:58
Hey Brit,
2022AS20***. Interview is in Cairo, Egypt despite being chargeable to Asia. I sent in my DS 260 on May 9, 2021 and have been DQd since September 28, 2021. My case is ‘actively being scheduled’ but I am in ‘limbo’ since Cairo isn’t taking too many cases. i’ve been in limbo for two months now. (side note: i know i should be one of the first people on the list to be interviewed since i was DQd so early which makes me think Cairo is operating based on case number order?). Now that Cairo is starting to take more cases, should i just wait it out and hope for the best, do you still think i have a shot at interview? Or should i go to the USA on my b1/b2 and apply for AOS. I would travel to the USA around June 5, 2022 unless i get an email by then. Thank you for all your help,
Ibe

Hi Simon,
Sorry to disturb you, I think you forgot my question.
Thanks
May 12, 2022 at 16:49
There is not much I can say – you need to decide these critical decisions for yourself. Right now Egypt is still stuck at 13000.
May 8, 2022 at 18:34
Greetings Mr Brit Simon, once again thank you for the value you provide on here with edv processing
I have some questions please
1) Is a police clearance certificate needed upon submission of the DS260 form?, just wish to know cus I didn’t see any area like that in the guide you provided for filling the DS260 form
2) Will a police clearance be needed to submit with other documents once KCC demands for documents? OR is it upon receiving the 2NL that a police clearance is required?
3) When scheduled for the interview, is there any demands for having a bank account showing a minimum amount of funds(bank statement) or anything like that.
I will appreciate as you clarify me on this as others benefit too, thanks!
May 9, 2022 at 01:05
1. No. You would need it later in the process (when you submit documents and also at the interview).
2. The rules about documents was temporarily changed for DV2022, but I expect DV2023 will be using the documents procedure again, including the police certs.
3. Yes, you need to demonstrate financial ability. britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
May 9, 2022 at 06:25
Hi Brit,
Just a small clarification. Could you please explain bit more on the document change in DV 2022 which you have mentioned in your second answer above.
Would be really helpful.
Thanks again.
May 9, 2022 at 13:44
Watch out for videos about that in the coming days.
May 10, 2022 at 15:57
Sure Brit. I will. Thanks again
May 8, 2022 at 19:01
Good morning Dear Mr. BritSimon
I winner dv 2022EU23***
I have good news – we are invited for an interview in the mid of June.
Sorry for bothering you with this again, but I need your advice – in your previous message you said that it’s better to wait for an interview date and fix the issue with swapped name/surname in advance (prior entering to the interview), so should I try to fix it now, or it’s better to leave everything as it is, in order not pay any extra attention to this error?
It was swapped in E-DV, but later was corrected in DS260. Could you guide me what should I do for now?
May 9, 2022 at 01:06
Since you corrected it in the DS260 just be prepared to answer questions about it at the interview.
May 9, 2022 at 04:32
but do you think we will get a visa, will it be a reason for refusal?
May 9, 2022 at 13:40
I can’t be 100% certain.
May 8, 2022 at 20:54
Hey Brit. I got refused for dv2020 with a high school diploma. My friends in America sent me an invitation but I was afraid to get refused again, now I win dv2023 is it worth continuing the process? For dv2020 someone scams me because he told me if I pay him $6000 he can give me a green through the DV lottery I pay him after I won dv2020 because I believe him he did everything for me until the day of the interview he gave me all the papers. But since the day he sent me to the embassy was the last day that I heard from him because he gave me a fake high school diploma the consult gave me back my passports and then told me to bring the original high school diploma in that year I was going crazy because I wait a long times, lost a lot of money, heartbroken and when poor. One of my friends in Rome, Italy suggested your website, Please dear Simon I need your advice.
May 9, 2022 at 01:09
You were certainly unwise to pay the scammer, and now, if the consulate realized you were presenting fraudulent documents, they might have barred you for life.
So – unless you meet the requirement for education or work experience, there is no point in proceeding and wasting any more money.
May 9, 2022 at 01:33
Dear Simon, I was completely lost, that was 3 years ago now I have my high school diploma in 2022 for real, do you think there is a chance to continue thedv2023? My wife is also winning DV 2023 what’s the best option to go through? Invitation b2 visa, my dv2023, or follow my wife’s dv2023?
I thank you so much for opening my mind
May 9, 2022 at 02:58
You can decide which of the two cases is safer, and a lower number and pursue that case.
May 10, 2022 at 03:17
My case number is AF29 and my wife’s case number is AF78. but I am confused if I continue my DV2023 because of my blindly past. My wife’s diploma was for over 10 years ago, if this was you which one would you follow? please…
May 10, 2022 at 21:17
do you mean 29 thousand (2023AF29XXX) and 78 Thousand(2023AF78XXX). Well if that is the case you might have to proceed with the 29XXX case. If you were to be refused, there might still be time to process on the 78XXX case (if that ever gets current).
May 8, 2022 at 21:31
Am I the only one that can’t get into the ds-260 form or is everyone getting this error after trying to sign-in with my case number and confirmation number:
Your request cannot be processed at this time.
Oh and yes, I removed the zeros.

May 8, 2022 at 22:24
Hello Mr. Simon.
1. I won green card 2023. My CN EU25***. Is this CN high or normal?
2. When I applied green card my last name was another. But now I changed my last name. I took my husband’s last name. But on my passport which I applied green card was old last name. But that passport has 4 years validity period. I have to change my passport now and after that I should apply DS-260 or it is ok? I can apply with it?
Thank you.
May 9, 2022 at 01:13
1. It’s a little high, but we don’t know much data yet to say exactly how high.
2. You can apply now with your new name and change the passport along the way. The DS260 has a place to list previous names.
May 9, 2022 at 02:52
Hi Simon
I have won the lottery this year from africa and have been to the embassy for a visit visa and being denied twice. I want to ask if that will affect the process.
thank you
May 9, 2022 at 03:57
Most of the time, visitors visas are denied because they do not believe you have ties to home and will try to overstay your visa. That is not a concern for DV, so generally those issues are not a further problem.
May 9, 2022 at 04:21
Hi Simon,
Good Day!
My Spouse got selected with DV 2023 for EU. (Indian National and eligibility is My country of birth Germany and me holding Srilankan nationality) iI have already checked with you few details and adding to that –
– My Kids are yet to apply for the passport and also primary applicant(My spouse) passport is gonna expire by Jul 2022 and yet to submit for renewal where as I will get new passport details of my kids in 7 days(Indian Passport)
So in this case, can i go ahead and submit my DS 260 form today with My spouse `current passport details and I suppose that kids passport numbers are not required fro 260?
Could you please confirm on this and Is there any videos or PDF for referring sample 260 form you can share?

Thanks in advance
Sharmi
May 9, 2022 at 07:33
Hi Sharmila,
Sorry to interrupt. Which embassy would your interview be scheduled, do you know? Would it be in India?
May 9, 2022 at 14:17
Not sure but the post mentioned in dv is Mumbai
May 9, 2022 at 13:39
Numbering questions is best.
1. You can do that or wait for the passports for the kids. Depending on your case number (always re-quote it) you can decide.
https://britsimonsays.com/completing-the-ds260-for-dv-lottery-entrants/
2. Yes you should start getting the documents ready. I will publish a video for that in the coming days.
May 9, 2022 at 14:53
Thank u Simon.
My case number is 2023EU19XXX
So in this case how can I proceed fiiling the form – Do i need to wait for the passprt of kids and renewed Spouse passprt?
1. And can I Start filling the 260 form today and save it, edit it if needed as number of times till i submit it finally in couple of days or its has to be done in one shot at a time.
May 9, 2022 at 15:35
Your number won’t be current until spring of 2023, so you have time if you want to delay a few days or weeks.
Yes you can save and edit the DS260 until you submit it.
May 9, 2022 at 08:25
Dear Simon,
My case number is 2023EU30xxx .
The issue we’ve got is that my husband is British, born in Iraq (he arrived to Britain as refugee in late 90s) and he doesn’t have birth certificate, is it a deal breaker?
We also were planning to move to canary Islands, would we be allowed to carry on with the process there once we move?
Thank you so much for your help.
Laura
May 9, 2022 at 13:49
When he arrived in Britain, his nationality was established some how, so there is probably some British paperwork that can be used. However, I think there would still be some risk for that.
Yes you could process in the Canaries – but the interview would be in Madrid.
What I don’t understand is how he has an EU number. As an Iraqi he should have received a, AS number UNLESS he charged to your country of birth and you are from EU. Don’t tell me you are a Laura from the Canary Islands, as I have exactly one of those (I’m British, wife born in Gran Canaria, DV through her nationality)
May 16, 2022 at 10:57
Thanks for your answer. I’m selectee and I’m from Lithuania, that’s why we have EU number. (But that could have been funny coincidence:) )
He doesn’t have any paperwork from then, could we establish this from police report?
Or would it be better idea to hire a lawyer to help with this?
Really appreciate your advice.
Thanks,
Laura
May 18, 2022 at 19:47
Cool.
It might be worthwhile asking a lawyer if there is anything you can do to improve his documentation.
May 9, 2022 at 08:30
Hi Brit ,
I am one of the selectees for 2023 DV lottery , I currently hold a 10 year multiple visiting visa for the US. During my visit in 2017 I was allowed 6 months stay but ended up staying an additional 10 months. Do you think this will affect my chances?
Looking forward to your reply.
May 9, 2022 at 13:56
You will have had an automatic 3 year ban. You will have completed that by now. It will be up to the CO as to whether to “forgive” that or not.
May 9, 2022 at 09:18
Hi Simon,
I am DV2023 selectee, born in Iran and I am sure I put the correct country in initial application but when I got the letter then put my case as OC6XX and chargeability under Australia which I live for 22 years and am citizen. Is this cause a problem?
Thanks
A
May 9, 2022 at 14:03
You obviously selected Iran as country of birth (question 5) and Australia as your country of chargeability (question 6). This means disqualification UNLESS you are married to an Australian born person.
May 9, 2022 at 09:30
Hi Simon,
I’m a New Zealand citizen and live in Turkey. I’ve been selected in DV 2023.
Could I move to the US on an ESTA now and submit the application with the 260 form while I’m there?
The post for the visa is Ankara and the number is in the 1000s.
May 9, 2022 at 14:01
Yes you could, but you will obviously have to interview in your home country.
May 9, 2022 at 10:05
Hi,
My wife has been selected

May 9, 2022 at 10:37
Hello, sir!
I already submitted the DS 260 along with other supporting documents on June 5, 2021.
So far, I have not received, nor been notified of the interview at the American Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Based on the scheduled manifest at the embassy website, it indicated that the consular unit has scheduled the 2022 Case 29933.
Your immediate attention is highly appreciated.
Thank in advance.
May 9, 2022 at 14:10
Immediate attention to what? You must think I schedule the interview.
