Hey Simon,
If I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (after high school), do I still need a paper stating I finished high school or are these two diplomas enough?
Thanks!
August 28, 2022 at 20:34
Some COs still ask for High School paperwork, some don’t.
August 22, 2022 at 09:39
Please Simon
A quick question
I have put while applying to the dvlottery my father’s name as my middle name
And his name is on my passport
I also filled that on the ds260
Would that cause problems?
August 23, 2022 at 03:50
It seems like the name you gave in the DS260 matches your passport, and that in turn should match your birth cert. If that is the case – no problem.
August 28, 2022 at 20:35
Not normally, no.
August 30, 2022 at 10:26
Hello Simon! Hope you are fine. I have entered DV2023 as married and filled my DS260 as married too and included my wife and child in my DS but not filled the DS260s for them since they are not migrating with me.
I got divorced recently and now facing a problem.
The divorce decree contains an address where I have never lived. This was just a nominal address used by my lawyer to file the case in a urban court where the process is faster and less costly and now, this address is included in the divorce decree as my address at the time of the divorce and it cannot be changed.
1.Since this is obviously a different address than what I have listed as my current or previously lived addresses in the DS and the police reports, will this mismatch cause a problem at the interview if the CO compares the addresses and questions about it? The divorce decree is absolutely a 100% legit document issued by the court by the way.
2.What is the most appropriate thing to do regarding my status change. Update at the interview or to unlock the DS260? 2023AS17xxx.
September 5, 2022 at 20:22
1. No. It’s perfectly fine to have a postal address.
2. Either is fine.
September 10, 2022 at 09:02
Thanks Brit for saving my sleep. This was a headache.
August 30, 2022 at 03:52
Hi simon sir
I am 2022AS27000
If I have an interview on 29th of september and the consular keeps my passport and tells that I am going to be issued a visa, obviously it takes few days for the visa to get printed or issued and in the meantime the DV2022 fiscal year comes to end and october comes in, plz tell me can I still get my visa after september or does my visa gets issued after september ? While I am interviewed in september last?
September 5, 2022 at 20:17
You have to be approved on or before September 30th. The actual printed visa could come a couple of days later.
August 22, 2022 at 10:26
Hi Simon, Thanks for your support so far. DV 2022 CN AF15k. Our interview is scheduled in Sep and we need your guidance. Family of 6 (3 kids over 18, 1 6yrs old). we have 2 hosts.

2) Lives in Dallas, TX, filed taxes as single, has 4 grown up kids, income USD 69K.
Which of these 2 do you recommend we use? Can we submit both forms to the CO? Thanks!
August 23, 2022 at 03:51
Either would be fine – present the best.
August 28, 2022 at 20:35
Choose one. Either would be OK.
August 22, 2022 at 12:45
Hi Simon, Hope you are well,, I joined in the process after winning the lottery in DV 2018 from the European Quota. However, 25,775 case status was curren, and mine did not among them. But all the numbers were current in the previous years and the following years. Do I have any legal rights here?May I sue for dv 2018?
August 23, 2022 at 03:52
No. The VB is the method to control which numbers become current. You were not “entitled” to a greencard.
August 23, 2022 at 15:24
Hi Brit, I’m a Cameroonian by nationality 2023AF13k. So the problem I have is obtaining Police report from Bahrain ????????. I’m currently studying in Germany ????????. To get the good conduct certificate from Bahrain it requires you to get fingerprints from a local police station at your current residence but according to the law of Germany it’s illegal for police to get your fingerprints without being arrested. So I contacted Ministry of Crime and investigation in Bahrain which is responsible for the good conduct certificate, they asked me to go to Bahrain Embassy in Berlin which I did. I went there they took my fingerprints then after 15 days I got a call from the embassy that my fingerprints were rejected that, the embassy doesn’t have the authorization to get fingerprints for good conduct certificate. In this case Brit, what should I do?
August 28, 2022 at 20:42
Read and follow the instructions on the reciprocity page and show that you followed those instructions.
August 28, 2022 at 20:36
No.
August 22, 2022 at 15:31
Hello Simon

SALEEM from Yemen, my case number is 2023AS101xx .
I didn’t write my name in native language, do i need to unlock my DS-260 for that?
And when do you think my case number will be current?
Thank you
August 23, 2022 at 03:53
1. No
2. I don’t know.
August 22, 2022 at 17:54
good evening mr simon. I have 4 questions, 1) the first one is i am currently a student, so i have been moving around the country for the past 7 years, for my course. i would stay in a location about 6 months to 2 yrs. do i have to fill these addresses up in ds260 as other addresses? (but my main mailing address was always my home address which i would go back to during the weekends or breaks.) 2) i have used multiple accounts for social media with different names, but these were never my official name, do i have to include these names for personal details as other names that i go by? 3) since i am a student, my graduation date in sometime in nov if everything goes well fingers crossed, what would i put in for my qualifications? 4) i currently have no contacts in the state, how do i go about this? thank you for everything so far.
August 22, 2022 at 17:58
also regarding the contact person, must they know us well or it can be friends of the family or just family members of my friends who are not well acquainted with me?
August 23, 2022 at 03:55
Anyone you are connected to in some way.
August 23, 2022 at 11:18
For the contact person do they have to be a citizen or own a PR in the USA?
August 28, 2022 at 20:39
A sponsor should be a citizen or LPR.
August 29, 2022 at 02:55
Good evening Simon. In the DS 260 they ask for a contact person or the address of the place we plan to stay. Does this person also need to have a LPR or citizenship? Are we are required a sponsor person even if we have own funds? And the ds260 contact person we list, are they the supposed to be our sponsor ?
August 29, 2022 at 04:16
The US address doesn’t have to be the financial sponsor. You can use your own funds if enough, but an I-134 is safer.
August 29, 2022 at 09:29
Dear Simon, for the personal funds, does it have to be in the form of cash / bank transactions or it can be in the form of an asset such as houses etc? Thank you again, you have been very helpful !!!
August 29, 2022 at 14:53
Liquid assets – meaning bank accounts etc – not assets that you would need to sell such as a house.
August 23, 2022 at 03:55
1. Those are lengthy stays – so list them.
2. Yes
3. This is handled in your current occupation – just list the course of study.
4. I don’t know what you are asking.
August 23, 2022 at 11:22
1) Regarding the stay, in which order do I list them?
2) I write my social media name as completely different first name n surname. So when I fill it up, it says either the surname or the first name have to be similar ? I’m not sure how to go about this.
Thank you again Simon.
August 28, 2022 at 20:40
1. Going back in time.
2. Use your judgement.
August 29, 2022 at 02:52
Good evening Simon. I’m sorry but what do u mean when u said going back in time? The oldest should be listed first or the latest should be listed first ?
August 29, 2022 at 04:14
Latest first.
August 22, 2022 at 18:04
HI Simon,
Good Day
My Husband got selected with DV 2023 for EU. 2023EU19***.
I stay here in India. As per reciprocity instruction, I have applied for my PCC here with FRRO. They have asked me for few supporting document to provide me the PCC. One of them is as below.
1. Request letter mentioning the duration of PCC required.
– What does this duration represent?
– Does the PCC content should represent any period or dates ? as I know this PCC is valid for 2 years from the day the PCC is signed.
Regards
Sharmi
August 23, 2022 at 03:56
I suggest you read the reciprocity page instructions and follow it closely.
August 22, 2022 at 20:00
Hello, Thanks for the help you e been giving us all. I need your help in order to answer some questions I might be asked during my interview. I haven’t recieved my 2NL but I want to be prepared to answer any questions asked during the interview.
I am currently an African student on scholarship in a foreign country studying Mechanical engineering, and I am currently in my third year, hence I’m left with 4 semesters to get my Bachelor’s degree. Getting a visa will mean a lot to me, and that’s why I have come to you for help
I know I might be asked a question on if “I am willing to abandon my studies to move to the US.” I don’t really know how to answer this question. I don’t want to lose this great opportunity because of a bad response I give during my interview, please help with a good answer to that question
August 23, 2022 at 04:12
You should not need to prepare any answers for the interview. The answers should be your own, honest reactions, not prepared or borrowed answers.
August 22, 2022 at 21:04
Greetings sir. DVD 2022. Case 61k. Interview around mid September. When for my medical today and discovered that I am pregnant. I’m the main applicant with two derivatives. Not married.
Please can pregnancy be an issue at the embassy? Pregnancy of a single mother.
August 23, 2022 at 04:12
Technically no problem, although it does increase “public charge” risk – so make sure you have a good financial plan.
August 23, 2022 at 02:03
Hi Mr Simon,
I am DV2020, case number AF39XXX
Please when is the final verdict for the reserved 9095 visas of DV2020 going to be passed.
August 23, 2022 at 04:13
The appeal will be heard in September, and the answer will come in later months (perhaps October or November).
August 23, 2022 at 07:47
Hi my name is raveendra kumar from fiji my case number is 2023OC2569 and people selected in Oceania is 2503 I can’t understand this possible
August 28, 2022 at 20:38
It is possible. There are gaps (holes) between the numbers.
August 23, 2022 at 10:21
Hey Simon,
Do I need my medical exam to be valid (6 months) only for my first entry into the USA? Will I need it to be valid again if I go for the second time (still without my physical green card)?
Thanks!
August 28, 2022 at 20:39
No – it is only for the validity of the visa. You don’t need it on subsequent visits.
August 23, 2022 at 13:06
Hi Simon
Thank you for your extraordinary effort you put to help all those people.
I am a 2023 dv lottery winner AF54k from Morocco.
1- I submitted the DS as single, my fiance and I decided that If I get the visa we get married before I move to the US ( after the interview). What kind of procedure I will have to do in this case to bring my future wife?
2- I keep encountering discussions about the i134 form. Is it a necessity to bring this form to the interview?
3- This question just in order not to break the tradition here :). How much chance do I have with that CN
4- Can I try again and participate in the up coming 2024 dv lottery.
August 28, 2022 at 20:41
1. It would be an I-130 process that can take years. Much better to marry early – you have plenty of time.
2. It is wise.
3. Ha – wait and see is the traditional answer.
4. Yes
August 23, 2022 at 15:47

August 23, 2022 at 16:30
Hello Simon,
I am reading about AOS process for DV lottery. Do you know any case of H2B visa holder that did AOS? I haven’t seen any case on the immigration forum. I know it’s not a dual intent visa.
August 28, 2022 at 20:43
I think its possible.
August 23, 2022 at 16:44
Hello dear Brett Simon
Through your great experience in Dv
Do you know people who had a problem with the Ds260 block and were able to reopen the form again
What is the time period for this procedure?
Greetings brother
August 28, 2022 at 20:43
It takes weeks or even a couple of months.
August 23, 2022 at 18:12
hi Simon,
‘m DV2023 selectee with case n_o AF2k. i have selected passport exemption option while applying n filled n submitted DS260 with out a passport but now i have got a passport so is it risky to change ma DS260 n inform dat i have a new passport?
August 28, 2022 at 20:45
No that’s fine, although you could just take the passport to the interview.
August 23, 2022 at 21:13
I am DV 2023 Selectee and I have submitted my old passport number in the DS260 application it will expire in November 2022, but I also have the renewed passport with me. Is there any issues that will happen in this case?
August 28, 2022 at 20:46
No problem.
August 23, 2022 at 22:42
Hi Brit,
I activated in Feb and left after only a week. Then I came back shortly before 6 months. I was asked why I stayed out so long. I explained that I sold my car and other things and then I could enter without problems. Now I plan on going to Mexico for 10 days after being in the US only like 2 weeks. Reason my new apartment lease only starts mid next month and instead of staying at a hotel (previous place no longer available) in the city where I am already living I thought I rather combine it with a real trip.
Question: is it going to be risky to leave again after being out long and received question already? However the trip to Mexico would be less than 2 weeks.
Except for the lease and a bank account I haven’t been able to establish much yet.
Thanks for your assessment
August 28, 2022 at 20:46
No risk.
August 24, 2022 at 03:57
Hi Brit Simons I trust you good.
I’m 2023AF19*** i filed and submitted my DS260 on June 13th but till now haven’t received any message to tell me my case has been processed and ready for schedule when current
And my Dad was suggesting we write to KCC to know the status of my case
Please is this decision the best??
August 28, 2022 at 20:47
You won’t be current for a few months, why not just be patient.
August 24, 2022 at 05:06
Oc25xx.
Got 2 visas issued. Thanks Brit for all the help.
August 28, 2022 at 20:47
Nice!
August 24, 2022 at 05:57
Dear Simon,
If after receiving immigration visas and paying the immigration fees on the USCIS website, the husband (main applicant) and the wife (dependant) end up getting divorced in their country BEFORE arriving in the USA and before receiving green cards,
1 – How does that affect the overall situation?
2 – Can the divorced husband still enter the States as the main applicant? Or will there be problems with the immigration control upon his arrival, if the visa had initially been issued considering the family scenario? Will this new situation after the issuance of the visa and before receiving the green card disqualify the main applicant?
3 – Can the divorced wife still enter the USA, if she has the immigrant visa but is no longer the main applicant’s dependant?
Regards
August 28, 2022 at 20:48
1. Technically the derivative spouse should not enter the USA
2. No problem for the principal.
3. See 1.
August 24, 2022 at 12:52
Hello Brit, I have won the lottery of 2023, Is the number 2023-AF16XXX has a good chance for an interview noting that my interview will be in Abu Dhabi – UAE.
Another question, I have a valid tourist visa of the US, is it possible to go there and process the DV from there, or I will have to wait for my case number to become current anyways?
August 28, 2022 at 20:49
1. Yes
2. Why create the extra stress. Just do consular process.
August 29, 2022 at 04:38
Thank you so much Simon!
One update, I forgot to mention that my chargeability country is Egypt, and as you are aware the first visa bulletin exceptionally limits Egypt cases to 1700 only, that means my case number will become current after almost 10 months if it goes with the same pace until the end, Am I right? And do you expect that there could be a chance to increase the monthly limit for Egypt on the coming months or remove the exception?
August 29, 2022 at 05:24
I won’t predict the movement of the VB in the coming months.
August 24, 2022 at 13:12
Hello Simon, thank you for your hard work. I have a question regarding passports. I am planning to enter DV2024 in October, my birth and resident country is South Africa, however I have dual citizenship in Italy. Could I use either passport to enter or would it be better to use my birth country’s passport? What would the implications be if I used my Italian passport? I have one dependent my spouse who has a South African passport. Thank you again, regards Anna
August 28, 2022 at 20:50
It is not nationality that is important, it is place of birth.
August 24, 2022 at 18:07
Hi Simon,
Thank you for all your help throughout the process. I received my diversity visa yesterday and, God willing, will be coming to the States next month. I wanted to let me people know what my interview was experience was like. Hopefully it will help someone.
Interview in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday 18 August, 2022; but, I have an AS number.
8:00AM: Enter embassy. They just checked that I had an appointment letter. I took a number in the queue.
10:30AM: Get called to a window to submit supporting documents. They asked for:
1. Passport
2. Appointment letter
3. Delivery service confirmation (so I can pick up my passport)
4. Two personal photos taken recently (5cmx5cm)
5. Birth certificate (bilingual arabic and english)
6. High School + University Diploma, graduation certificate, and transcripts (original and a copy but they gave me back the original later).
7. Police Certificate
8. They asked me to open my medical envelope and hand the results to them (not including x-ray which was on a CD).
They did not ask for I-134 or Military Exemption Paper which was required when submitting documents (when procedure was required).
10:35AM: Pay $330 fee at another window
1:05PM: Called to another window for interview. Received my original diploma and certificates back. Below are the questions I got asked.
1. Where did you graduate?
2. What was your degree?
3. Where do you work and as what?
4. Where have you travelled recently?
5. When have you previously travelled to the US?
6. Where are you planning on staying?
1:08PM: Interview approved. Told I would receive passport in 2-3 weeks.
Friday and Saturday 19-20 August, 2022 is a weekend so status was still ‘ready’ on CEAC.
Sunday 21 August, 2022 status changed to ‘Administrative Processing’
Monday 22 August, 2022 status changed to ‘Issued’
Tuesday 23 August, 2022 received email and message from courier service telling me to pick up passport.
Wednesday 24 August, 2022 picked up stamped passport with envelope. 🙂
Thank you for all your help, you really made the process a lot smoother.
My final question is:
I got a paper from USCIS saying i must pay the $220 immigrant fee BEFORE you depart for the US and it gives me steps to follow to pay it online.
Should I pay it now or upon arrival? and also if I pay it now will it speed up when I would receive my green card?
Thanks a million!
August 28, 2022 at 20:51
Congrats!
You can pay before or after entry. Before might be a little faster.
August 24, 2022 at 18:57
Hello dear Brits,
Thanks again for taking to reply all the questions that have been asked to you.
I would like to know about the visa bulletin numbers. Does it come the same each month or it comes differently?
For instance in the VB published in August, AF cut off number is 5700. Will the next VB cutt off number will 11400 or it could be lower or higher than 11400?
Kind regard
August 28, 2022 at 20:52
Different each month.
August 24, 2022 at 22:41
Hi Simon,
When presenting proof of the university studies, is it acceptable to present a photocopy of the diploma or we should present the original?
Thank you,
August 28, 2022 at 20:52
Original.
August 25, 2022 at 02:00
Hi Simon, Will it be necessary to translate civil documents from Spanish to English for the DV 2023 procedure? the consular appointment is at a South American embassy.
August 28, 2022 at 20:53
Documents must be presented in local language or translated.
August 25, 2022 at 06:36
Dear Mr. Simon,
Hop your are doing grate….I am 2023 DV winner with AF100** from Eritrea. My chargeability is in Kenya. I have Eritrean Passport but my spouse did not have passport. My question 1) Can she get to the interview with her national ID. 2) in the reciprocity page it says that Eritrean PCC is unavailable. So if I got the interview at nairobi embassy do I need to provide the PCC.
August 28, 2022 at 20:54
1. Yes – but if she can get a passport, she should.
2. Not if it says unavailable, no.
August 25, 2022 at 07:44
Hi Simon,
Good Day!
I am the winner of DV 2023, AS12**. I won the lottery with the eligibility of my spouse’s birthplace being Srilanka. The point to be highlighted is, that I am an Indian, and my spouse is of SL nationality. He applied for his citizenship in India a year back and finally received his Indian Passport last month, whereas earlier when I filled in his DS 260 Form he held an SL passport and his SL passport number on the form when I submitted it by May 22.
1. Do I need to unlock his 260 forms and update his recent Indian passport number?
2. I know India is not eligible for the DV program. So in that case, though I got my eligibility for DV is the birthplace (Srilanka) and now he got his nationality to India.
Will my case will be accepted( as his birthplace is still the same SL and he has his Birth certificate to prove the same) or it is now not eligible?
Kindly advice
Regards
Laksha
August 28, 2022 at 20:55
1. No
2. He will be charged to your birth country.
August 25, 2022 at 19:04

August 28, 2022 at 21:16
Be a little patient.
August 25, 2022 at 19:45
Hi Simon, when is the Goh vs Biden appeal case going to be heard?
Also, as a plaintiff in this case my family situation has changed and I had another baby. Should I be notifying the attorneys? Should I be updating my DS 260 if it’s still accessible?
August 28, 2022 at 21:16
September 16 (with a decision later than that).
No need to do anything for now.
August 25, 2022 at 20:30
Hi Brit. I have a few questions before submitting my DS-260. Thank you in advance!
First of all my case number is 000002XX for Oceania, is it bad that I’m submitting my DS-260 this late in the game. I avoided doing so in order for it to not cause any complications with another visa I was applying to.
1) Country/Region of Origin:
I was born in Australia, but am a New Zealand citizen and was given this citizenship at birth (stated in my birth certificate documents). My parents are both born in New Zealand. They were briefly in Australia for 2 years and had me there.
On my selectee letter, my Foreign State of Chargeability is stated as New Zealand, even though I put that I was born in Australia when first entering the lotter. I emailed KCC to check this was ok and they said it will not affect the processing of my case.
When entering in my DS-260, shall I put NZ as my country/region of origin with my New Zealand passport, and then put Australia under “Do you hold or have you held any nationality other than one indicated above”, with of course no passport?
2) Family Information
My father was adopted and is not sure that his (our) surname was given to him at birth. Should I select ‘Do Not Know’ for this?
3) Previous U.S. Travel
I have been in the US for the past 2.5 years on J Visas.
I recently applied for the O1 visa and was denied – for no other reason than I was not extraordinary enough. Should I still select Yes under “Have you ever been refused a US Visa, been refused admission…etc.”?
4) Security and Background
“Are you a former exchange visitor (J) who has not yet fulfilled the two-year foreign residence requirement?”
I will need to say Yes to this and I’m wondering if it will disqualify me? My DS-2019 includes a selection in the “Not Subject to the two-year residence requirement” box.
Thank you again!!
August 28, 2022 at 21:21
1. Use your judgement – it’s not critical.
2. No – just use his surname.
3. Answer yes.
4. You will need to complete the 2 year requirement by the interview.

The good part is that it is not a fixed price. You would tell us your job and the amount you can be able to pay. The rest of
the fee the government takes care of it.

Hey Brit, Have not been reading QnA for a while so apologies if this has been answered recently.
Oceania 2021 Goh plantif.
My police checks for Australia and the UK expire in March. I hope if needed I will have time to get a new Australian one, do I only need a new U.K one if I have visited after getting the last check ? Like many have fingers crossed for Sept.
Loved hearing you described as the best D/V expert by the impact team last week !
Thanks so much for all you do

Police certs can be accepted up to 2 years old, but it might be worth getting a new one – perhaps listen in on the 16th and see how the legal eagles do.

hi simon.
i have a question: my name on my passport, id, birth certificate , etc. is spelled with two Ms i.e. Mohammed. However, on all my education records including my degree, it is spelled with only one “M” i.e. Mohamed. my question is: is this going to be a problem or will the CO overlook it as it is a common case of romanisation of arab names? thanks
August 28, 2022 at 21:32
No problem.

Hello, Mr. Simon, if you would be so kind as to have a question. I have met and transferred administrative procedures from Washington. Is it possible for the fiscal year to end and the processing has not been completed?

Hi Brit, thank you for all your help and support during this process. My family has the October interview and my husband and I have been Vaccinated for Covid-19 but our daughter who just turned 3 hasn’t been vaccinated due to the fact that she has a contigental heart disease. So the doctor has given a note not to receive the vaccine. Do you think this will cause some trouble at the Interview?
August 28, 2022 at 21:35
No

Hello brite,
What do you think about the second visa bulletin
What is the cn he will arrived for the AF Region?
Thanks.

Dear Mr. Simon,
1. Does a document need to be attested by foreign affairs ministry of the issuing country, or it is just enough to have the stamp of the establishment that issued the document (marriage contract, bachelor degree, etc)?. I am asking because in UAE they never accept a paper from outside UAE unless it is attested by the foreign affairs ministry of the issuing country, then attested by the consulate of that country in UAE.
2. My wife didn’t work for 10 years now. after graduation she worked for a couple of years. However, in DS260 when we open the question (have you worked previously), it asks to list work location for the past 10 years only. so I answered NO, she was not previously employed. is it an issue?
3. The duration of high school has to be from grade 7 to grade 12? so the fromDate till toDate should be equal to 6 years, or it is ok if i just listed the (from & to) dates the same of start and end of grade 12? does it matter?
4. I was traveling to Qatar on visit visa for many times 10 years ago. visits to my company branch was lasting between 2 weeks to 90 days. Then I get back to my home country (contract base) then go back for another visit visa. That situation lasted for 2 years in 2009 – 2011.
Do i have to list Qatar as locations I lived in? Please keep in mind that I didn’t have have a static address there. it was the first guest house, or the second, or a hotel.. what ever is vacant at the time of the trip.
Thanks

4. No
August 28, 2022 at 02:23
Hi Brit, how are you. Thank you for the good work and time.
AF43***(Cameroon). We are a family of 4. My husband and our two kids. Interview scheduled in September.
We have been to the vaccine centers and we could not find COVID-19 vaccine for our kids age 4 and 6 years old. Could this be a problem?
Another question please, do we have to bring our university transcripts to the interview or is just the certificates?
And the last question, is the police certificate the same as the non-conviction?
Please Your responding to this will be of great help to us
August 28, 2022 at 21:38
1. No
2. Take what you have
3. Varies by country – all details on the reciprocity page.

HI simon
My girlfriend is one of the selected applicants from the 2023 Dv lottery. Me and my girlfriends registration of marriage is scheduled on the September 2nd. We requested to KCC and got the DS260 form unlocked to add me as the spouse. We have a small issue to clarify. Our marriage will be legally registered on the sept 2nd but according to our culture we are not suppose to live together until we get a proper wedding.
1. So our current address will be 2 different addresses. Will that be an issue?
2 Is it compulsory to add the same current address for both. ?
August 28, 2022 at 21:39
1. I would proceed with one address
2. See 1
August 28, 2022 at 10:29
Hi how are you ?
Do you know how long it take to get the social security number and the green card after you enter US ?
Can I work before I get the social security number?
Thank you
August 28, 2022 at 21:40
2 to 3 weeks typically. Yes you can start work, but you need the SSN pretty quickly.
August 28, 2022 at 19:06
Hello Sir! I want to know which years Income Tax Returns should be provided by the sponsor when providing the affidavit of support for DV 2022 for the most recent years.
1. 2020 & 2021
2. 2019, 2020 & 2021
August 28, 2022 at 21:40
Just the latest one filed.
August 29, 2022 at 08:45
Greetings Brit. I want to know will there be a problem if my sponsor for the affidavit of support who is doing the form i-134 permanent resident green card expires since 2020 and he had tried to renew but there has been a delay.
I want to know should he still send the expires copy of the green card along with the pay slips and income tax return?
August 29, 2022 at 14:50
No problem. That person is still an LPR even with an expired Greencard.
August 29, 2022 at 02:27
BritSimon.
A number of questions:
1. If a selectee living in the US and using the AOS process uses an address where one receives mail but does not reside there for the DS 260 question asking for present address, could that prove problematic. Do you know if there’s check on if the selectee lives at address given
2.if one can’t remember exact address of a place previously lived , will just name of street do?
3. When it comes to employment history do you have to start with employment in one’s native country in addition to employment history in US
August 29, 2022 at 04:14
1. I don’t think so.
2. Yes
3. Start with most recent and work backwards.
August 29, 2022 at 05:25
Hi Brits, if I legally changed my name and surname in 2019 ( went back to original German version of it) while requesting police certificates I shall have them in which name? Both original and changed? Here’s EU30K – so I would assume to request them in Q2 2023 as to have the most recent ?
August 29, 2022 at 14:47
Follow local procedures to make sure there is no doubt about the identity covered by the police certs.
August 29, 2022 at 06:01

August 29, 2022 at 14:49
Marry as soon as possible, then correct the DS260.
