Hello! When I filled my ds-260, I entered the names of all the countries I had been to in the last 5 years and submitted the form. I have since then visited a new country. Should I unlock the ds-260 and add this new country? Thank you in advance.
August 22, 2022 at 03:20
No need.

Hello Simon, Dv2021 Goodluck plaintiff.I applied as a single candidate,am planning on getting married this October, what will be my situation after the verdict if the case is won and visas needed to be issued?
August 22, 2022 at 03:21
I don’t know for sure, but live your life….
August 14, 2022 at 07:20
Hi Brit,
I have a little different question than usual people so hope to get your supportive guidance.
Case number: 2023AS0000335X
Derivatives: 4
DS-260 submitted: 21/May/2022
Chargeability: Nepal
Current Counry: Denmark
Interview location: Stockholm/Sweden
I have applied Danish Citizenship on August/2022 which I will get incl. children around 18-20 months now (before June/20). We will definitely enter USA at the 6th month of our visa to minimize our duration of outside USA. My questions are:
1. Approx. When would be our interview?
2. How can I delay my 2nl or interview?
3. I am thinking to unlock now and resubmit around February 2023 then normally will be we interview next month?
3. If we enter US with DV Green card then how long we can live out side of USA without any problem ?
4. We (me and children)can stay outside Denmark 28 days during citizenship application process but spouse can stay in USA she is not part of the citizenship application but principal applicant of DV 2023?
Thank you in Advance.
August 22, 2022 at 03:24
1. Early 2023.
2. Delay submission of the DS260.
3. The unlocking might not delay the interview.
3.2 Read the FAQ
4. You must each abide by the rules on absences from the USA.

Hi Brit Simon, my husband is a 2023 winner. 2023EU6***(pretty low I guess).
We’re living in montreal, CA (potentially place of interview).
We sent our DS260 in June 2022 but then unlocked it to add our child born in July 2022.
1-Do you think that can affects our delays ?
2- regarding the last Visa Bulletin (sept 2022: EU :5700), we might be current on October right ?
3- any advices for Montreal Embassy ? In one on your video you were talking about DS5535…
Thanks a lot. Your blog and videos are really helpful for my family !!
August 22, 2022 at 03:25
1. No
2. November or December interview.
3. Make sure you have completed the DS260 properly. That’s all you can do.
August 14, 2022 at 14:08
Hi Brit, I hope you are doing well.
My CN is 2023AF23000. I was on a J-1 visa with a 2 year home requirement in 2016. Since then, I have spent 19 months in my home country. I counted the one weeks visits to my country in the total sum of 19 months. Are you aware of how COs calculate the 24 months home requirement? All I know that the law states that it is cumulative.
My second question is: Should I open my DS-260 to rectify the year of my PhD graduation? Or Can I just correct this mistake the day of the interview? I put 2020 instead of 2022. That is the only mistake that exist on my DS-260.
Thank you
August 22, 2022 at 03:28
I don’t know how they count the total.
Yes you should correct it given your J1.
August 14, 2022 at 15:38
Hi Mr. Simon, Good day to you. Thanks for the answer. Another question, may be it sounds silly. If a visit will be made only to validate the visa , purchasing a return ticket will be a problem at the PoE?
August 29, 2022 at 13:57

No problem.
August 14, 2022 at 18:56
Hi Brit,
I’am a winner of DV Lottery 2023 and my number is AS 9xxx From Sri Lanka. I am currently residing in America under A2 visa category. Although I submitted DS-260 in June, I could not get correct information about when to submit I-485 application.
Should I have submitted I-485 immediately?
Please advise whether to contact USCIS and booking an appointment as mentioned in the registration confirmation letter.
August 22, 2022 at 03:34
You should not have submitted the DS260 so early.
Read the link below it has all the information you need linked from the first post in the thread. DO NOT just ask questions on that thread without first doing “Mom” the courtesy of reading the information she has prepared.

Hi Simon,
So when I applied for the DV Lottery I used my current passport, when I filled out my DS-260 I used the same passport. However the passport will be expiring soon and I’ve already filed for a renewal. *Do you think once I get my new passport I should unlock my DS-260 and update my passport number or I should just leave it and email KCC explaining why the passport number has changed?*
I know you are required to inform KCC about a change in passport because of what it states in the DV Lottery instructions – will paste below
“13. What if my passport expires, or I lose it before I apply for a visa?
If your passport number changes for any reason, you will have to provide evidence of why it has changed to
the Department of State’s Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) before they will schedule your DV interview. If
you enter a false, inaccurate, or invalid passport number on your DV entry, you will be ineligible for a DV. We
suggest you make a legible photocopy of the passport you use for the entry and store it in a secure location
with your entry confirmation number (FAQ #27). A photocopy alone is not proof you entered a valid passport
number on your entry, but it can help you explain the situation. The final determination is made by the
Consular Officer at the time of your DV interview.”
I will have my old passport with me too so I can bring both passports to the interview as proof that I didn’t falsify information
August 22, 2022 at 03:36
You can ignore that information you quoted since it relates to the passport rule which is now blocked.
Take old and new passports to the interview – that’s all.

Hi Simon,
I’m a DV winner from Ghana 2023AF22k, I submitted my Ds260 on June 17th 2022, I’ve been contemplating changing my interview location from Accra to a different country due to the embassy in Accra refusing to give enough interviews to dv winners. Please give me advice on what I should do. Should I change my interview location or leave it as it is? Thank you Simon, would be looking forward to your reply.
August 22, 2022 at 03:37
It is too early to change, because we do not know how Accra will work on DV2023.
August 14, 2022 at 20:57
Hey Brit, my CN is 2023OC720. VB this months for October interviews showing 375. I am anticipating my CN will appear in next month VB for November interview. Am i guessing it right or what you think?

Probably a bit later – but why spoil the surprise…
August 14, 2022 at 21:36
Hi Simon, my cn is 2023AF53k, is it a very high case that can cost my visa?
August 22, 2022 at 03:38
It’s pretty high, but probably not too high.
August 14, 2022 at 23:39
Sir excuse me who is engaged in the Green Card organization will you be able to write to me please
August 22, 2022 at 03:48

August 15, 2022 at 04:41
Hello dear Brits,
Will the passport requirements be implemented again for the DV 2024?
Kind regards
August 22, 2022 at 03:48

August 15, 2022 at 06:27
Hi Simon, my husband is a DV23 winner. My question is since my son is 23years and will not be able to travel with us with the age capping at 21yrs, would you know how we should process his visa once we go to US, and how long would this process take please? just a guideline only :).. Thanks so much.
August 22, 2022 at 03:49
It will take years.
August 15, 2022 at 14:28
Hii simon
Hope you are doing well
My interview is in September, Riyadh
My question is regarding “Complete IV Address Registration Online”
Do i need to complete this before interview ? As im unable to find DV category in the immigration visa to complete this.
August 22, 2022 at 03:55
Yes. Look carefully – each embassy has a slightly different system.
August 15, 2022 at 15:37
Pleased Brit, I ain’t part of the DV2021 lawsuit, do I have a chance to get interview when the judge gives his verdict. Will it impact all DV2021 selectees or just the plaintiffs
August 22, 2022 at 03:55
Only plaintiffs will benefit.
August 15, 2022 at 19:04
Hi Simon
I am a green card holder from dv2021. I entered the US last year.
I have a question regarding a current situation.
At the time of the interview, I held (and still do) a dual citizenship from A and B.
I entered the US using passport A which had the paper green card on it.
Country A is currently having an ongoing investigation as to whether I am eligible to it’s citizenship and may revoke it.
Could that affect my green card?
Thank you
August 22, 2022 at 03:56
No
August 15, 2022 at 19:58
Dear Simon,
Thanks for your help. My husband won the DV lottery 2023 AF16XXX. We submitted the DS260s for each family member on 17 May but had no feedback so far. I have 3 questions:
1. Should we write to KCC to confirm if they have been processed or not? I ask this because I have heard you say on some videos that a few people have received email confirmations that their DS 260s have been processed.
2. My birth certificate has a middle name that is missing from my passport and all other documents. Will this be a problem? I am a derivative.
3. Our country of chargeability is Kenya but we live in Abidjan where we hope to be interviewed. Should we process my husband’s high school certificate through the Kenyan verification system used by the US Embassy in Kenya as well as translate it into the Cote D’Ivoire education system equivalent? Would this help us avoid an AP process?
Please advise.
Thanks
August 22, 2022 at 03:58
1. There is no need – but you can if you want.
2. No
3. Do what you think is best.

SUCCESSFUL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
Hello Brit. I want to immensely thank you for all the work you and aiding me to getting my visa approved. I have tried to post my interview experience under the “Interview experience column but I can’t figure it out. Here is how everything unfolded.
My interview experience. US Embassy Yaoundé Cameroon ???????? 09th August 2022.
Firstly I dedicate this success to God, family and friends who have all played an important part in my DV Journey. I never really expected my interview to be that difficult as I was interviewed for about 30mins but I was well prepared for all the questions asked.
When I got to the embassy we did the usual with security checks and in the next 2hrs I was infront of the CO. She asked me mostly about my travel history and family
She asked me what I did in Ghana and how long and what I studied, where I lived in Ghana?
She asked me where did I play the lottery?
She asked me where are my parents? I said US.
She asked me how often do they go to the US
She asked how did they get there? I told her my kid sis petitioned for them.
She asked me how did my Kid sis get to the US?
She asked me about my US travel in 1997?
She asked if I now live alone? I said Yes
She asked how do I support myself? I told her my parents send me money monthly
She asked where I live?
She asked if I was married, Had Kids?
She asked me what I was currently doing?
She ask what do I want to go and do in the US? I said Military.
She told me I have a good degree for what I studied in Ghana to excel in the military
She asked me what do I know about the Military? I nailed it here????. She was soo impressed.
She asked me if I know selective services? I said Yes and I told her.
I went there with all available documents. I was armed to the teeth.
Then she typed for like 2 mins but it seems forever. I have been infront of her for the past 30mins shaking and at the verge of Ovulating ????. Then she told me congratulations, Welcome to America and enjoy America with your family.
I sincerely thank God Almighty God for giving me a chance to be in America and to follow my dream and passion. Wishing everyone the very best of success. To all those who have given me advices God Immensely bless you. Anyone that needs clarification can get to me via email [email protected]
August 22, 2022 at 03:59
Congratulations!!
August 16, 2022 at 04:03
Hi Brit
We are flying out this Thursday to the USA after receiving our green cards and want to check if and how we can update our address to receive our green cards in the US as the postal address we put on the forms originally the person living there is now moving.
Thanks
August 22, 2022 at 04:00
Yes – you can do that at immigration – make sure you do that!
August 16, 2022 at 10:20
Hir Britt Simon
My case is that when registering to dv 2022 I said that I’m Married And of course I was actually married not legally, I was not selected.
In 2021/06/17 we married legally and applied for DV 2023 and now I’m selected .
Please tell is there any problem with my case because of dv2022 mistake?
August 22, 2022 at 04:02
No
August 16, 2022 at 10:56
Hi Simon,
When i won the DV lottery ( DV 2022) in May 2021 i did not check the status. Therefore, i did not know, that i was selected.
Later in 2021 i met my actual husband.
when i recalled about the DV lottery, i checked my status in May 2022, i saw that i am the winner, and to that moment i was in a relationship for over 8 months.
So we decided to take the chance to immigrate toghether and got married in the same month of May 2022, after which we filled out DS-260.
We have an interview appointment in early September, and i am wondering if it is ok to advise consular officer the scope of our fastened marriage and could it possibly cast a shadow on us as a REAL couple. Or what is your best suggestion on this issue, taking in consideration that we are in fact a real couple.
Many thanks in advance!
August 22, 2022 at 04:03
If the relationship is real, it should not be a problem.
August 16, 2022 at 11:39
Hello mister,
I have a question,
If someone’s case is 18***
And it was processed before
Case 15*** for example
And they are the same post
If they become current at the same time who will get an Interview first..
Thank you very much
August 22, 2022 at 04:04
It depends on various factors, so I am not going to give a quick answer.
August 16, 2022 at 13:28
Hi there,
Unfortunately I was late for your livestream yesterday, so please apologise if my question might be redudant – it is regarding public charge. I have more than enough funds in ETF and stocks, which basically can be turned to liquid cash in an instant. I am wondering if COs use to follow that idea or if the money needs to deposit in a more “traditional” savings account?
Many thanks in advance! Your support is much appreaciated!
August 22, 2022 at 04:05
That should be OK.
August 16, 2022 at 18:08
Hello Brit… I got my 2NL today
I am from Cameroon, 2023AF45**
I’ll definitely love to come live to share my experience with you on YouTube once I get to the States because I am positive my case will get approved for a visa… You have been really helpful to me all through. You’re a great and selfless Human.. ????????????
August 22, 2022 at 04:06
Cool!
Make sure you are well prepared.
August 16, 2022 at 18:41
Hi!

August 22, 2022 at 04:07
Smart casual.

Hello mr brit simon
Mr brit my name is gailan I am a 2023 dv lottery winner. I don’t have a university or high school degree but I have 2 companies and 20 locations/shops I have these business since 2000 and on my ds 260 I have written 4 jobs that are in job zone 4-5 and svp 7-8 but I am asking people that have information about dv lottery they are saying that I will be rejected most likely because I don’t have any degree is that true sir I would be very happy if you could help thank you

I cannot given a clear certain answer with such vague information.
Read the FAQ about work experience.
August 17, 2022 at 01:19
Hi, we are getting DV visa soon, and we are supposed to enter the US in January, however my daughter, who is under 21 will have to continue her study in Holland. Please, could you tell us what is the appr time for issuing green card to be able to travel? Or what can be done in that case?
Thank you!
August 22, 2022 at 04:12
Get her to enter the USA before her visa expires, then she can keep the status alive with some trips to the USA while she finished her studies. Read the FAQ about absences.
August 17, 2022 at 07:17
Dear Simon,
I am the winner of the 2023 dv lottery from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have one doubt, so if you can clear it up for me… Namely, on May 11, I filled out the ds-260 form. After that, following the instructions from the official website, I prepared all the supporting documentation that me and my family will need to process our case. Now, when some time has already passed and when the initial impressions and euphoria have subsided, I have studied in detail the complete further path of solving the case for lottery visa winners and I realised that there is a period of waiting now and that I need to be patient (CN EU21K). In this regard, I have a question regarding the supporting documents that I obtained immediately after learning that I was the winner of the lottery visa because I followed the instructions from the official website as I said before, and I have a doubt whether I will have to take out those documents again when my case comes for further processing, or is it okay if the dates on that documentation are from May of this year? If it is possible and necessary, I can already send you scanned complete documentation related to my case. The reason I am asking this is that this documentation is not very easy to obtain and it costs a lot of money, so I would like to know if the documentation will be valid when my case comes up or if I will have to get a new one?
Thanks in advance for your reply and best regards,
August 22, 2022 at 04:13
The documents can usually be accepted quite a lot later. The police cert for instance is valid for 2 years.
August 17, 2022 at 18:34
Hello simon i hope you’re doing great!, after being hopeless about my chances to come to the US, i got an email and i have an appointment at 21st of September!

1- i reassigned my interview location to amman embassy form iraq, do i have to unlock the ds260 and update to the new location?
2- how many days prior the interview should i do my medical? what do you recommend?
3- how many days prior the interview should i be in the hosting country?
many thanks simon!
August 22, 2022 at 04:16
1. No
2. ASAP
3. Soon enough to do the medical.
August 17, 2022 at 21:03
Hi Brett Simon
Is there a way to expedite the DS260 block process?
It’s been a month and 25 days and the kcc or the consulate has not contacted me to make an appointment and give me the code pin
August 22, 2022 at 04:16
No
August 17, 2022 at 21:07
hello brit
Am I waiting for my request to process my request to cancel my block Ds260? This procedure is very slow and does it affect my visa interview
August 18, 2022 at 06:01
Hi again, I am sorry to bother you. we got through the interview and need to add some more documents, like police report from all the countries my daughter used to live during her study. What happens if she drops out? will the others get visa? should we cancel her DS 260?
August 22, 2022 at 04:17
That should not affect the other people in the case.
August 25, 2022 at 17:42
Thank you ????
August 18, 2022 at 13:16
Hey Brit, if my BA diploma certificate states my average score vs. maximum (9.1/10), do I still need the transcripts of records for all study years? Thanks!!
August 20, 2022 at 19:00
They need high school diplona only, none of my other diplomas were received.
August 22, 2022 at 04:17
No
August 18, 2022 at 13:26
Hello Birt,
Hope you are doing great. I wanna know even if all the consulates work in their highest capacity, is our case gonna be affected by the number of cases for a certain consulate?
For ex, if they publish cut off for June as 23000 for AS(2023),despite of number of cases in my country will my consulate be able to interview case numbers up to 23000?or they won’t be able to interview all (as we have high number of cases) and fall behind while other countries in the region go on with the relevant case number cut off?
Thanks a lot for the support and knowledge you distribute free of charge!!
August 22, 2022 at 04:18
In general the consulates should be able to cope with demand based on a well managed VB.
August 18, 2022 at 18:30
Hello Mr Simon
I haven’t lived in my country of Nationality for 11.5 months now.
During that period, i have lived continously in my current country of residence.
Do i need to get a police report for both countries or just my country of residence?
Thank you
August 20, 2022 at 18:59
I just had an interview and the consular asked police report from all countries we lived in for 6 months for all members of the family. So, better get it soon.
August 22, 2022 at 04:22
Both
August 22, 2022 at 17:23
Thank you
August 18, 2022 at 22:38
Dear Simon,
I requested from KCC to unlock my DS260 to make some changes to it. I got this as the reply.
Your forms have been received and are currently processing. Allow several weeks for processing. Interviews are scheduled numerically based on case numbers that have completed processing. Once the Kentucky Consular Center has finished processing your DS-260, you will receive an email from the Kentucky Consular Center giving you instructions to complete in order for your case to continue processing.
Can you please tell me what does they mean by currently processing.
August 22, 2022 at 04:22
Processing at the moment.
August 19, 2022 at 11:50
Hello Sir,
First of all, I would like to thank you from the depth of my heart for helping everyone for no reasons.
And second of all, my case status changes to issued yesterday.
So my question is that, what should I do now beside that I should go to us ASAP.
Should I apply for green card now? If yes, then please guide me on how I can apply.
And please let me know if there are other things I should do too.
Thank you so much!
August 22, 2022 at 04:23
You don’t apply for the GC. When you enter the USA and pay the fee the GC will be sent to the USA address you gave in the DS260.
August 19, 2022 at 14:09
Hi,
2023AS9XXX
1- i haven’t received the email that ds260 is processed or not, even though I submitted ds260 on may, what should I do?
2- in ceac.state.gov when i enter my case number(without zeros), it says: invalid case number.
Please help me
August 22, 2022 at 04:31
1. Wait.
2. The DV2023 data is not there yet. Patience.
August 19, 2022 at 19:30
How should we interpret the “Mother’s Surnames at Birth” section in DS-260 form? Should it be mother’s surname at her birth or mother’s surname at the applicant’s / accompanying persons’ birth?
August 22, 2022 at 04:32
Surname at her birth (maiden name)
August 20, 2022 at 15:43
hello Britsimon, many thanks for your efforts to help through your channel and extremely informative videos
I have a great update on DV2023
I’m DV 2023 # AS13XX and I’ve received the 2NL scheduled interview in Oct in one EU country where I’m a legal resident now.
now I have a question that might be complicated but I’ll be as accurate as it needs, it’s related to the bank statement and savings in order to convince and satisfy the officer that I’m capable of supporting myself and my family, I heard you said in your latest video that it is important and I have seen one of your videos about the I-134, now the thing is my life story ????, I lost my job in the pandemic (redundant) I received my end of services and I returned to my country where I stayed for 7 months awaiting my residency here in the EU, I didn’t open a bank account and my savings remained in the safe at my parent’s house and I came here, here they refused to open a bank account as I’m new and my job contact is temporary but I can prove my income by presenting the payslip, now for my savings, can I prove existence by showing the cheque to prove the resource then show a currency purchase receipt in my name? I’ve seen this in the Schengen visa application rules. but I would like to ask in addition is that necessary at all? because I didn’t see this requirement in the instructions on travel.us website neither in the specific embassy website.
thanks a lot and I wish to hear from you.
August 22, 2022 at 04:40
An I-134 would be best.
August 20, 2022 at 16:19
hi brit
I’m a dv2023 winner,
1- my daughter used her email to fill in my initial application should I add her email on my ds260 or no need for that when I list my emails?
2- do I still need a police certificate from my original country if I have been living in another county for over 20 years ?
3- on my ds 260 I chose that my spouse will not come with me to USA and that he will join me later, and on my spouse ds 260 they ask him the same q if I will be coming with him or join later what should I choose? since these 2 options don’t make scene based on my first answer
thank you
August 22, 2022 at 04:41
1. Either way is OK.
2. Yes
3. If your spouse is not coming on the DV process, no DS260 is needed for him.
August 20, 2022 at 16:26
hello Mr. Simon ,
is there certain type of occupation that I should put on the work experience section on the ds260. I buy , sell and rent houses and lands to people can I put that as my occupation?
August 22, 2022 at 04:41
Property investor perhaps.
August 21, 2022 at 02:03
Hi Brit,
Thank you so much for your generous help on my queries. Our visas are issued.
You are doing a great job by helping out all of us.
Wish you and your family all happiness and good health.

Hi Simon,
Me and my Girlfriend is from Sri Lanka and she is one of the selected applicants from the 2023 dv lottery. She already submitted her DS260 form. We planned our wedding a few months back and decided to hold it on September 2nd. Everything is set for that so she dropped an email to KCC just requesting to unlock the DS260 form so that she can add me as the spouse. But they replied saying the form is now in further processing. When we check the status it says that the case is still with the KCC. We want to know whether
1. To send an email to KCC now ( before the marriage ) with the reasons and request again to change the DS260 form
2. To send an email to KCC with the marriage certificate after the wedding and request to change the DS260 form
3.Also If we are sending the email with the marriage certificate, does the certificate need to be the original certificate or an English translated one?

1. Yes unlock now.
2. Only if asked.
3. Depends on where you are interviewing – follow the instructions.

Hello Simon,
is there anyone who has been asked by KCC, the required documentation for DV Lottery 2023 after filling out DS-260 form that you know of?
Warm Regards,
Omer.

Hi Brit!
I want some assistance in navigating the following situation.
Your valuable input will be much appreciated.
I’m a DV2023 winner from Ghana.
My case number is AF99**
I unlocked and resubmitted my DS260 in early July.
I had a traditional marriage in January and will have my white/ordinance wedding in September.
Observing the situation of DV2022 from the Accra embassy, I decided to submit my DS260 early using my traditional marriage date.
Last week, I wrote to KCC to check the status of my DS260 and I’m told it is still processing.
I will prefer to have my September wedding date on my DS260.
Given that my case is still not processed, should I unlock and resubmit in mid September(~ 3 weeks from now) after the wedding?
Going ahead with the traditional marriage date will mean having to put together and submit two marriage certificates(one traditional, one ordinance).
What advice do you have for me? Should I unlock?
Given that my case will not be current in October and most likely not in November either.

Yes unlock and update after the marriage.

Greetings Brit.
I did my DV 2022 interview on the 17th of August.
All my documents have my name as Isaac Nuwaele Doetein, but my first birth certificate has my name as Isaac Nuwaell Doetein and the second one my name is properly spelled as Isaac Nuwaele Doetein.
Now my question is, from your experience, do you think this could cost me my visa? I’m currently on Administrative processing and was told to return on the 25th of August for my visa.

So wait and see what happens.
