Hi
My case number is in the early 3000 but I haven’t had my interview appointment set yet by the Ankara embassy. Do you think it would be a good idea to try to schedule my appointment with another embassy in another country or should I just wait? Thank you in advance <3
June 2, 2023 at 23:27
If you can persuade another embassy to ask KCC to assign your case to them – then yes – but in practice that is very difficult.
June 3, 2023 at 07:24
I am a lucky winner of DV 2023, my case number is 90** and my ds 260 submit date is June 22, 2022. I received the 4th type mail on December 2, but I still could not get an interview, the place for the interview is Ankara Turkish Consulate. Why haven’t I received an interview so far? Did I make a mistake somewhere in the process or is there something I need to do to get an interview? Will I be able to get an interview until September?
June 3, 2023 at 10:24
You didn’t make a mistake – they have been slow in scheduling so a large backlog exists. You just have to wait and hope they get to your case.

Hi Simon
I got selected dv24
I have a previous us B1/B2 visa and travelled
But I got refused about 11 years ago before this one obviously
In the ds I didn’t mention the previous refusal, is it important to open the ds for this?
June 6, 2023 at 10:56
Yes
June 2, 2023 at 22:07
Hello @Simon hope you are doing great,
Im a DV2024 winner with a casenumber ~EU48k.
We first submitted with my spouse the DS-260 forms on 9th of May, but later we unlocked our forms because we needed to correct our names unfortunately mispelled on the “spouse’s name” section and resubmitted again both on 16th of May just 1 week later.
Do you think this minor inconvenience can affect our interview date or it doesn’t matter at all?
Thank you so much for the support!
June 2, 2023 at 23:28
No problem.

Hi Brit, I am from Sri Lanka. DV2024. case no 16XXX. i am running my own business. me and my father holds the business registration for the privet limited company. I have a MBA. London Metropolitan university. 18 months MBA with 120 credits. i did my MBA with work experience. I do my job as the operations manager in my company.it is according to O net. I have failed in one subject in my advanced level exam. so definitely i have to go under job experience category.
1. Do i need to disclose that i worked in my own company under my father ?
2. Do i need to produce my Business Registration?
3. what documents do i need to provide to prove my employment?
4. Do i have a chance in getting the visa? i have 4 dependents. my spouse is also holding a MBA.
June 3, 2023 at 00:02
1. You need to tell the truth.
2. Not normally
3. You probably won’t need to do that as you probably meet the education requirement. Focus on proving High School and other education.
4. Probably.

Hello Simon,
Hope you are well.. This is Shamma from Africa, I had applied for a US DV Lottery Visa and got selected. Currently I am feeling out the form, for myself, my husband and my child, who will be accompanying me. While filling out the form for my child I don’t get an option for selecting her nationality, it gives me a drop-down list but does not have an option of United States, and hence I can’t move forward in filling out a form. Can you please assist and guide for the same.
If you can send me an email so I can forward you my screenshots of my desktop to clarify.
June 3, 2023 at 10:21
If you are saying the child is a citizen, then I believe there would be a checkbox to select citizen.
June 5, 2023 at 09:53
Hi Simon,
My case number is 2024EU34xxx. I have submitted DS260 on May 22 but reviewing later I realized I did 2 mistakes:
1. I introduced religious marriage date instead what is showing on the marriage certificate (27 instead of 12). Do I need to unlock and corect?
2. On my wife application, which is the principal, I introduced her first place of work but that was over 10 years ago and they require where you work in the last 10 years. Should I correct this with some part time job she had within 10 years?
Thank you so much.
June 5, 2023 at 10:18
1. No need for that.
2. Use your judgement about whether the jobs where significant or not.
June 3, 2023 at 02:15
hi Simon
2024OC37XX
When completing the DS260 previous address section, I have been travelling for the last >12 months…staying at multiple guesthouses and various accommodations. I don’t intend to go back to my last residence when I take up my new job. Would it be fine to leave this period under my last permanent residence location? It just looks strange as I haven’t been in that location at all (barely a month). Please help!
June 3, 2023 at 10:22
Yes use the permanent residence
June 3, 2023 at 03:45
Hi Simon, I have a technical problem I am trying to fill ds-260 for DV lottery. However, I am currently unable to edit the information in the Family Information section, specifically the question asking whether my mother’s address is the same as my father’s. I mistakenly selected “YES” but would like to change it to “NO.” Unfortunately, the question does not appear again for me to make the necessary correction. But I am able to add My Mother’s Address. I have not yet submitted the application. Any help?
June 3, 2023 at 10:23
That doesn’t need to be corrected – it is trivial.
June 3, 2023 at 08:37
Hello Simon,
May I ask if you know how many days in advance is ok to pay the immigration fee of 220$ before entering USA?
I have paid mine on May 14th (May 15th USCIS received the payment) and I entered US on June 2nd.
June 3, 2023 at 10:25
There is no deadline. You can pay in advance of entry or after entry.
June 3, 2023 at 14:00
I won DV lottery last 20 years ago.
That was DV 2004.
In DS – 260 form, I mistakenly filled
as I was married but actually I wasn’t.
And my case number was high .
That’s why i didn’t received second
letter for embassy interview.
Now, if i want to apply DV or others
tour visa, can I apply as “unmarried” which is true and genuine.
how can I correct my marital status as “unmarried “ back.
Can Still unlock the DS-260 form..??please advice me, thanks.
June 3, 2023 at 14:31
You mustn’t continue saying the lie. So if you apply for any visa type, tell the truth.
June 3, 2023 at 15:33
Hello Simon ,
If someone has been ban for 5 years and has currently won the Visa lottery .
Will there a be a chance for that person to be processed and be schedule for interviews ?
If yes could that person be denied visa because of the visa ban to the USA ?
Is there any way to prevent this in case he will be denied because of the ban ?
June 3, 2023 at 17:32
The CO can apply for a waiver of the ban. Whether they will or not is up to the CO.
June 6, 2023 at 20:59
Hey i have a similar case , can i contact you , my email is [email protected] , reach out
June 3, 2023 at 15:49
Hello Simon,
I really don’t know why my questions disappear here.
My question is about taxes
Do we need to pay taxes for the US if we activate the status and come back to home country for first 12 months?
Tnx,
June 3, 2023 at 17:33
You are liable for taxes from the day you activate. However, for someone that immediately leaves, that is a very simple tax filing position, and may not even be needed at all depending on that persons income. I am not a tax accountant though, so do your own research.
June 3, 2023 at 15:56
Hi Simon
I need your help to clarify this case.
Due to my husband won the DV lotto on 2024.He wonder about DS-260 form. Actually if he put the kid details on the applicant form in the DS-260 will show the principal (My Husband) and kid in the first time that mean no need to add application in the DS-260 right? But the kid details is not show but he can add it. I worry about it. The status when application form he chosen “single”
June 3, 2023 at 17:34
If your husband left any derivative (spouse or child) off the entry, then the case will be disqualified.
June 6, 2023 at 10:41
If the child was already born when filling the DV entry form earlier, but the child’s name was not mention? then?
June 6, 2023 at 12:35
Same answer.
June 7, 2023 at 05:33
what, if the child did not entry in d260 form?
June 7, 2023 at 13:01
Then that would be immigration fraud.
June 3, 2023 at 16:52
Hello Simon,
Thank for the good work you are doing.
I really appreciate it .
June 4, 2023 at 06:53
Hi Simon, I have all authinticated certificates of my bachelor degree and a high school degree. My high school certificate has a wrong date of birth..it was issued 20 years ago from KSA. Im Jordinian living in UAE now and I can’t go back to KSA due to visa issues.. is it a problem to leave the date of birth on my high school certificate as it is?
June 4, 2023 at 09:51
They don’t use the school certificates to establish your date of birth. The only point is that they are your certificates.
June 4, 2023 at 09:42
Hi brit
In filling the ds260 form
1. DoI need to state the courses (music) I attended in the military as my previous education attended? since am qualifying with the music as work experience.
2. Or not needed
Thanks
June 4, 2023 at 09:51
Listing them won’t harm anything.
June 4, 2023 at 09:56
Thank you
I’m grateful
June 4, 2023 at 14:31
Dear Mr. Simon
Thank you very much for your help, I have a question,
As my plan is to stay some days in Hotel then rent a house. I want to get a mail address via Texas Home Base and present it in the airport. Is this surely a safe way to receive SSN and GC ?
June 4, 2023 at 14:49
I don’t know what you mean by “Texas Home Base” – but you can give any residential address that you can trust that your GC will be looked after.
June 4, 2023 at 16:47
Hi brit
I traveled to a country 6 years ago do I still need to answer yes to the question (Have you traveled to any country/region within the last 5 years) please
Thanks
June 4, 2023 at 17:07
Come on. Do you really need to ask that?
June 4, 2023 at 17:15
Hello,
I have a question related to DS-260.
Are religious organizations(churches) considered when answering to the question as below in DS-260?
‘Have you belonged to, contributed to, or worked for any professional, social, or charitable organization?’
If yes, should we mention those organizations even if we had single contribution or works(i.e participating once or twice in churches activities without being a member?
thank you.
June 4, 2023 at 19:19
No
June 4, 2023 at 17:41
Hmm Seriously confused brit
This has been a debate on a dv group I joined
A- is saying since is more than 5 years you don’t need to answer yes
B- is saying you need to answer yes since you have visited a country before no matter the years.
Please clear us..
Sorry knowledge about that.. Thanks
June 4, 2023 at 18:26
No need thinking aloud. If it’s not within 5 years then the answer is no.
June 4, 2023 at 19:12
The question specifically asks about the last 5 years – so “B” is idiotic.
June 4, 2023 at 17:17
Hi Simon,
Quick question.
In Oceania dv 2023 there are 176 visa no show and 42 visa rejected, working on ration, 1 case: 2.38 visa.
There are 559 visas issued to date, taking into account that 36 people in 221g will get the visa. The 2nl for June and July issued is 45 assuming that 132 visas will be issued (308 less 176). According to my math calculation, they need 70 new cases which is 166 visas. So 559+36+132=727 visas will be issued till July.
For 70 new cases, KCC can release the cutoff to OC1900 if I’m correct.
Please advise based on my calculation and Africa Region will not be able to meet their quarter. There will be 4 – 5k visas left to share.
June 4, 2023 at 19:01
Hello Mr. Simon. I am a DV2024 selectee 2024AS00042XXX currently present in the United States. I have submitted my DS-260 form. I would like to know when is the appropriate time to submit a request for Adjustment of Status. Could you please provide guidance on the recommended timeline and steps involved in the adjustment of status process for DV selectees in my situation?
June 4, 2023 at 19:15
It is a pity you submitted the DS260 – it is not necessary for AOS. You will have to wait until your case number is current to start AOS (using the early filing policy). The link below has useful information on AOS
https://forums.immigration.com/threads/dv-2024-aos-adjustment-of-status-process-only.346971/
June 4, 2023 at 19:26
Hi Simon
Last Month we had a interview and Consul put us AP 221g, Consul didn’t ask any documents on 221g, it has been one month since interview day our Case still shows READY, it never changed like Refused or AP after interview, before interview our case was ready and still shows ready is that normal or do we have to do something?
June 4, 2023 at 20:03
You just have to be patient and hopeful
June 4, 2023 at 19:44
Hi Brit, thanks for helping DV selectees. I submitted my DS-260 in May 2022 but i didn’t take note of how to submit supporting documents to KCC. How do I do I submit my supporting documents? is there and email address i have to send to? I”m also worried if it is already late for that given that my case was current in May.
Thank you for prompt response.
June 4, 2023 at 20:04
No documents were needed.
June 4, 2023 at 21:59
Thank you Sir but when exactly are supporting documents submitted?
Because your YouTube video on the home page of the blog says that ‘you will not get 2NL if documents have not been submitted AND processed’.
I’m expecting the 2NL but not submitted any document yet.
Please I need your help Sir,,,
June 4, 2023 at 22:02
My CN is 2023AF0056402, Yaoundé. I have wife and 3 kids as dependents
June 4, 2023 at 23:27
Documents are presented at the interview – they changed the procedure.
June 4, 2023 at 21:22
Hi sir, please let me know can I appeal a Dv 2023 case AS region. From work experience having SVPRange job zone 4,experience 25years continuosly as a oporations manager, export’s manager senior buyer.can I appeal. If so where to we should email.because embassy is not replying
June 4, 2023 at 23:30
There is no formal appeal process for DV cases. You can sometimes get the embassy to reconsider, but generally they say the decision by the CO is final.
June 4, 2023 at 21:52
Hi Simon.
I have a friend who is a DV 24 winner who has a very unique situation.
She has a 19 year old daughter that she enrolled on her application correctly but the girl is expecting a child.
In your experience how does this situation impact the case…?
Will her daughter and her future grandchild be able to emigrate with her if they are approved in the interview…?
Her daughter is not married.
June 4, 2023 at 23:28
I think this person has already asked. My answer was that I don’t think the grandchild will be included in the DV process. The daughter can be, but then would have to sponsor the baby once in the USA. She should talk to a good immigration lawyer.
June 4, 2023 at 22:05
Hi Simon,
I have now found out that I made a minor mistake in the name of the hospital in which I was born.
Should I unlock? Does it really matter? I did not write the wrong hospital, just have an error in the name of the correct one
Thanks
June 4, 2023 at 23:26
Doesn’t matter. No need to correct.
June 4, 2023 at 22:49
We got rejected from today’s interview. The reasons for rejection were incorrect information. It wasn’t wrong for us, but whatever. Here is the situation, my wife is a citizen of Kazakhstan and we got married in Turkey 2 years ago in March. At that time, there were no flights because it was covid, so he could not show that he was married in Kazakhstan. As he could not show it, he filled it in with his old surname when applying for a green card in October, just as it is written in the passport. In other words, it was rejected due to incorrect information during the application. I guess this was not something that could be fixed by reopening the form. But we’re not so sure.
Is this a reason for rejection? what should I do?
June 4, 2023 at 23:26
You are being unclear, and you must be precise.
I assume your wife was the winner. Here are the questions.
1. Did your wife list you as her husband on the initial entry.
2. Did she and you both use your correct married names on the DS260. She should have used the married name, then there is a place to put the maiden name.
3. Have you been placed on 221(g) or did they give a final refusal?
June 4, 2023 at 23:38
1. no. showed as a single, because in her own country it showed she’s single and her surname was old.
2. yes, correct names. she’s changed surname to husband (as it shows on marriage certificate)
3. yes, we have a final refusal
June 5, 2023 at 08:53
Then the refusal was correct and 100% predictable.
She lied about her marital status, and left an eligible derivative (you) off the entry. Once a person is married they are married everywhere, the marital status doesn’t vary by location. The entry form and instructions make it very clear that leaving a spouse or child off the entry will result in disqualification. You wasted your time and money for no reason because it was certain to end in refusal.
June 4, 2023 at 23:42
Hi Simon Sir,
Hope you are doing well, and thank you for your help, I hope i can return in this favour in someway someday.
My case number is 2023AS21k around 21k from Nepal (High case number)
I am extremely SORRY for Long List of Question and Long Post, but I am little anxious about my chance. just FOMO 🙁
I was analysis the data from DV 2022 just to anticipate my chance in DV 2023.
In DV 2022 Nepal had 3806 selectee and every one got a chance, with total of 1912 2NL and total visa issues was 3181.
In DV 2023 they have already sent out 1646 for Nepal till case number 19400 and has already issued 2538
Seeing at 2022 data, Nepal still can send 350 2NL if i see it as exact match from previous year.
Based on above I have few question:
1. What is the visa limit for Nepal, will they capped of 7% for country quota.
2. When will redistribution of visa happens against unused visa from different region.
3. AS is already current and EU has also almost sent out 25k 2NL which is very much close to the previous year 2NL quota for EU.
4. I see there will almost of 5k of Visa redistribution, Do you see AS getting some of them and Nepal quota can increase.
5. For Iran and Afghanistan, i see cases are not processing very fast as they are getting processing at slow moving embassy like Ankara, Yerevan and UAE, do you think there unused visa will be given to Nepal and high case number get a chance?
6. Also, from 18200 to 19400 for July interview some of selectee has not received their 2NL yet from Nepal, do you its already too late to send out 2NL now for July interview.
7. How would point 6 effect July Visa Bulletin ?
8. Last but not least, do you see Nepal getting current in next 2 Months?
June 5, 2023 at 08:59
1. Every country is affected by the 7% cap – very few countries have a chance of getting close to it.
2. It is probably already happening.
3. I don’t understand this question.
4. Well yes, but still subject to the cap.
5. See 4.
6. I don’t know.
7. I don’t know.
8. I don’t know.
June 5, 2023 at 02:48
Hello
Currently i am a dvlottery winner but dont have my passports at hand. I may receive them after a month, what do you think should i fill the DS-260 just now or wait for the passports to be received ? Very concerning query for me please reply someone who knows the correct answer.
June 5, 2023 at 09:14
You can complete the DS260 without passport by selecting the “other ID” selection in the form (using some other official national ID).
June 5, 2023 at 09:32
Hello Brit, i also would like clear my head on this. I filled out mine with my national ID number under the passport number field since my passport isn’t ready yet. I believe I did the right thing? Thanks
June 5, 2023 at 09:57
That’s correct.
June 5, 2023 at 03:26
Hello Sir, I come to you once more; sincere apologies for bothering.
If you say no supporting documents are submitted after DS-260 submission what documents are they processing before issuing the 2NL?
I’m extremely worried because my case no. (2023AF56402) is current since last month and no 2nl yet, just thinking it is because I never submitted any documents to a KCC email address.
Please tell me what to do if I need to.
Thank you Sir
June 5, 2023 at 09:15
Many people are not receiving 2NLs because their embassies are limiting the number of interview slots. So – your chance varies based on which embassy you are at. It has NOTHING to do with documents.
June 5, 2023 at 04:05
They only process your DS260 forms, the supporting documents you will carry along to your interview.
June 5, 2023 at 05:16
Thank you but Brit says ‘you don’t receive 2NL until supported documents submitted are processed; is it that these documents that KCC will be processing were uploaded in the DS-260 form and submitted? Because I have not submitted any documents since submitting the DS-260.
Your help will be very much appreciated
June 5, 2023 at 09:17
Stop going on about the documents!!!
June 5, 2023 at 04:12
Bula Brit…my Case Number 2023OC2260 do you think their will a chance o getting interview before end of this program 🤔
June 5, 2023 at 09:17
I really don’t know.
June 5, 2023 at 08:42
Good evening Simon,
I was going through the steps i need to take after receiving my visa. I noted that they mentioned that the officials have authority to grant or deny admission even with the visa. I am wondering about common causes that may cause my entry to be declined. (of that you’ve heard of?)
2) After obtaining the visa and making the payment, will there anything else i need to prepare, (based on your experience)?
Thank you for your time and kind consideration.
June 5, 2023 at 09:27
1. The number of refusals of immigrant visa entries (the first entry) each year is roughly the same as the number of unicorn teeth found each year. Subsequent entries (as an LPR) are technically “inspections, but as long as you are clearly living in the USA and not violating the terms of your status, there is no problem.
2. Not from an official point of view. It really is more about making plans for where to go, where to live what jobs you might look for and so on.
June 5, 2023 at 09:37
I see. Thank you for the reassuring advice Simon. Have a great day ahead.
June 5, 2023 at 09:14
Hello Simon,
We are having some issues here.
First we got an email in 1 June that we had our interview on 29 July. On 2nd June we got another email that we have our interview on 8 June. My husband is the winner of the lotter and since we got married on February I am not on DS. Now the time to prepare all the documentation and to get me into the DS is short. I do not know what such a short notice. Is okay if I enter in system after my husband does the interview? Also we will sent all our documents after the interview because the time is short for all the documents. Will this be a problem for our case and for us to get both the visas? Thank you in advance
June 5, 2023 at 09:28
Contact the embassy and explain about the marriage.
June 5, 2023 at 09:31
Good evening Simon,
I’m worried abt the grounds of inadmissability by the border control officers once i reach the states? Would u recommend me to bring anything else (other than luggage n the sealed packet) as preparation or is there anything i have to take note about the inquiry at the border control (based on your experience)?
Thank you.
June 5, 2023 at 09:32
pls ignore this simon – you’ve replied above – thank you
June 5, 2023 at 09:51
Hi Simon,
I have a BSc Degree from the UK. I would be grateful If you could tell me If I need to take my diploma to the CO as well.
Iranian. DV 2024
June 5, 2023 at 10:16
Take everything.
June 5, 2023 at 10:39
Much appreciated,
However, how often it happens that individuals who have graduated from an academic program are required to provide their national diploma?
June 5, 2023 at 16:05
It happens. I don’t know the percentages.
June 5, 2023 at 11:51
Hi Simon ,
I am a 2024 DV winner AS30XXX , already submitted the DS260 but the thing is that my wife passport which we entered on the application will expire April/2024, she got the new passport now valid for 5 years.
Shall we update the new passport during the interview or now ?
Will this effect the 2NL ,my fear is that if it appear that there is an expired passport in the application they may not send invitation for interview OR it is OK as long as it was valid on the day of filling the application .
Thank you always
June 5, 2023 at 16:06
The expired passport doesn’t stop the interview. So – no need to unlock, but you can do so if you prefer.
June 5, 2023 at 11:58
Hi Brit,
I have filed my AOS package and it is currently at NBC. My bio is scheduled for this month.
Unfortunately, I just realized a mistake on my I-485. In the public charge question, the 61st, I misunderstood the question and chose NO. So, I did not fill out the rest of the section. What do you recommend at this point? Should I wait for RFE or send a correction letter to NBC? My spouse also made the same mistake.
June 5, 2023 at 16:08
I don’t have an opinion on that. Use your own judgement.
June 5, 2023 at 14:05
Hi Brit Simon, thanks for the efforts you are making here. Really wish you well. My question is with respect to DV interviews in Turkey. Are they scheduled only in Ankara or İstanbul as well? I am finding conflicting information. The embassy website says immigration interviews are only conducted in Ankara however the Ds260 form gives me the option to choose Istanbul or Ankara. I live in Istanbul so it makes more sense for me but I am confused. I dont want to choose Istanbul only to later find our that this was an error in the form. Would you have any information regarding this?
June 5, 2023 at 16:10
Only Ankara.
June 5, 2023 at 18:51
Thanks for replying. Does this mean i should contact KCC to unlock the form and change the location from Istanbul to Ankara?
Also, A followup question here. Would you know if they schedule DV interviews in countries which are not eligible for DV lottery. like India?
June 5, 2023 at 23:08
They will choose Ankara, no need to change.
Yes they interview in countries like India, UK, China.

Hello Simon,
My case number is 2024OC40xx.
1. I submitted the DS-260 on May 13 and got the application confirmation letter. But when I try to check the immigration visa status on the CEAC website I keep getting an error message that reads “Invalid Immigrant Visa Case Number”. Why would that be happening? I have checked the application and have confirmed that there are no errors. Should I email KCCDV and ask them why I am getting the error message?
2. Someone else I know who won the DV2024 in my region and has a low case number in 100s and is going through an agency was saying that she already has an interview scheduled in October. I suspect she’s lying since the interview scheduling hasn’t started yet from what I can find out. But could it be? Has DV2024 interview scheduling begun?
Thanks
Banna

1. If you are talking about the status check website, that won’t have any DV2024 cases in it until January 1.
2. Someone is lying.

hi simon
I’m a winner dv2024eu39xxx, I haven’t completed the ds260 yet, since I’m getting married on June 29th and I still don’t have all the documentation, I hope to complete the ds 260 in July, do you think it’s too late?
A thousand thanks!
June 5, 2023 at 16:12
It might cause some delay later, but it won’t be “too late”.
June 6, 2023 at 05:35
Hi Simon
My wife is selected for the dv202400056xxx number case
My question is that I live in Germany legally but she in Albania she doesn’t have German permanent residence
Can we transfer the case in the US embassy in Frankfurt?
June 6, 2023 at 10:54
Possibly. But they will probably ignore your choice and pick the embassy that is local to her.
June 5, 2023 at 15:59
Hey Simon, what do you think about embassy in Croatia, last data I can find was in 2017 where was 36 who won lottery and 26 gc issued.
June 5, 2023 at 16:14
It’s a very quiet embassy – they have scheduled 7 people in DV2023 – but as there were only 12 selectees, that means they are doing fine.
June 5, 2023 at 16:47
Hi Simon!
What is your opinion of the US Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria?
I am a winner from DV 2024 with case number 50**.
June 5, 2023 at 17:53
They are ok.
June 5, 2023 at 17:02
Hi Brit Simon,
Thanks for helping the DV lottery selectees with valued information regarding their cases.
I am from Sudan and I have my cousin that his wife been selected for the 2024 DV’s,
but the problem is that she doesn’t has a passport yet and unfortunately because of the war now in Sudan, everything regarding to the passport extracting or renewing procedures is stopped, and maybe destroyed.
In this situation, is there anything she can do regarding to any article in immigration or lottery rules to complete her case and fill the DS260 form to get an interview?
Thanks again and appreciate your help.
June 5, 2023 at 17:54
She can complete the DS260 with another official ID. But she will need a passport at the interview.
June 5, 2023 at 18:41
Alright, Thank you very much Brit, We didn’t know this information , that’s really helpful .
Appreciated.
By the way , I am a former DV selectee for one of the famous years in DV lottery history, The DV2020 , Who can forget this year, 🙂
Now I am in The US, and if I have a time in the next days I will write my story here in your website maybe someone get benefit from it.
Thanks again.
June 5, 2023 at 23:07
I would enjoy reading that!
June 6, 2023 at 00:47
She should try and get the passport if not from Sudan she can get it from Sudan embassy in neighbouring country.
June 6, 2023 at 19:25
Hi Sam,
Thanks for your comment, unfortunately she also can’t do that , because the main official printer for the passports located in Sudan and now it is stopped, The embassy in neighboring countries send all your papers to Sudan then they received your new passport back to the embassy, and for now the embassies can’t do that.

Hi Brit I’m a DV 2023 winner and recently moved to the US. Me and my husband still didn’t get jobs and we are currently residing at Staten Island NY. We were asked to get the state insurance but I just wanted to know whether obtaining state insurance will have consequences for us in the future. Like if we are sponsoring our siblings some day or whether it will identity us as below poverty line
June 5, 2023 at 23:08
Should not be a problem.

Hello Simon,
2023EU230XX
My DS-260 has been processed and my case number is current. The embassy of my application is in Tirana, Albania.
The 2nl are sent to case numbers higher their mine for the same embassy while my case is still at KCC.
What do you think it is going on and what should I do? Thanks man.
June 5, 2023 at 23:10
The cases are scheduled in the order they were added to the AV queue, so what you are seeing is normal.

Hey Simon, A few questions:
1. I am DV 2024 winner born in Nepal (2024AS79XX) but currently hold Irish passport ( No nepalese passport). Should I put Ireland as the region of Origin/Nationality in the DS260 form?
2. Is it better to schedule interview in Kathmandu embassy or Dublin in Embassy? I have selected Kathmandu as the location but wonder if they will ignore that.
3. My wife’s passport will expire in July 2023 and she has now renewed it. Should I unlock the DS260 to update the passport details?
June 6, 2023 at 10:49
1. Yes
2. Where you live is easiest.
3. No need to unlock for that.

I won dv 2024 my case num is 2024AF101xxx
June 6, 2023 at 06:59
Hey Simon, hope you are well. As a current college student, do you think there’s a good chance the CO would require an I-134? I have some savings but most of my income comes from my father sponsoring me. Thank you!
June 6, 2023 at 12:33
It’s possible. I would always prepare to answer the finance question – just in case.
June 6, 2023 at 09:33
Hi, Simon! Warm Greeting!
I initially missed my son mentiong on the form. At that time,my son was 11 months old. I have mentioned only my name and that of my wife. Now can I mention about my son in D 260 form or not? What happens if i do? Can only me and my wife fill d260 form? Could this be the reason for the rejection?
June 6, 2023 at 12:51
If you left a child off the initial entry then you will be disqualified if you go for an interview. The best thing to do is not proceed.
June 6, 2023 at 09:48
Hi Simon, my case is 20*** Bangkok, Thailand which is current in July. But I haven’t received 2NL in May. Should l be worried?
June 6, 2023 at 12:53
Worrying won’t help. Hopefully you will get a August interview.
June 6, 2023 at 10:36
Hi Brit,
I was selected for further processing in dv2024 and I have some questions I do not know the answer to. 2024EU24xxx.
1. At the time of registration I did not have a valid passport, I only applied for one this year(which is also my first ever passport), and it arrived a couple of weeks ago. I have read at the couple of places that means this is automatically disqualify me on the interview. Is that true? Are my chances to get the green card 0?
2. On the DS260 form it is required to set where I wish to arrive in the US and I also have to specify an address inside the US where they would send the GC once it is ready. My problem is I do not have anyone in the states. Noone. How can I specify an address for the GC to arrive to? Would some sort of PO box suffice? If so can you send some some companies which someone could rent PO boxes from?
Also do I have the option to change these addresses later on? For example on the interview, or even after I arrive to the states?
3. Do I have to rush with the DS260 form? I am stressing a lot that I do not have all the info yet to fill the form.
Your videos are very helpful, thanks in advance!
June 6, 2023 at 12:37
1. No that is not true.
2. Ideally find a friend of a friend. The address will be used to receive your SSN and Greencard, so it should be a real address and someone you can trust.
3. Earlier is ideal, but it is not the end of the world if you are a little delayed.
June 6, 2023 at 13:21
hi,
Thank you BritSimon for you help!
Could you please give me advice if I need to translate my address as well?
I mean for example my address contains in my language “utca” (as in my ID). Should I translate it to English (street)?
Thank you.
Tom
