Hi Simon,
I have a question regarding the medical exam.
I found different information about the covid vaccine. We got 2 vaccines and 1 booster back in 2021. Some say this means fully vaccinated and others say you need an updated booster within the last 12 months.
Thank you for your help.
June 19, 2024 at 21:27
Just discuss with the physician at the medical exam. Rules vary by country.
June 19, 2024 at 03:09
Hi Simon, my interview is in July 2924. I was married but got officially divorced this month. Should I declare all the documents at the embassy?
June 19, 2024 at 21:24
Yes – you will need documents for the marriage and the divorce.
June 19, 2024 at 02:17
Hi simon
I also sent an inquiry to kcc to see how my case process is going and they replied with this :
“ Your case number is now current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check https://dvprogram.state.gov…”
1.does this mean mu case is ready? if so my status still says at NVC?
2.should i just wait or contact the embassy?
-cn AF628xx, Lus
Thank you
June 19, 2024 at 21:24
1. Processed and current.
2. Just wait – the embassy don’t know anything about your case.
June 18, 2024 at 23:16
Dear Brit
Good evening, have a couple of questions.
1) Do you recommend to get new birth and marriage certificates (I think I will be interviewed close to May 2026)
2) I don’t have my school degree but I do have my bachelors and masters, do you think that’s ok? Or will I need to get a certificate o something to cover for that missing degree, the issue is that my school does not exist anymore.
3) In DS-260 we responded NO to the vaccine question because we are from Ecuador, is this ok or do you think we should unlock?
4) what are your thoughts on Guayaquil (Ecuador) Embassy performance?
Thanks in advance
June 19, 2024 at 00:07
1. Depends on the procedures in your country – you know those better than I do.
2. Get something to prove your HS graduation.
3. No
4. It’s fine.
June 18, 2024 at 17:37
Hello Simon,
I am a Dv2025 winner,
in the first entry I mistakenly wrote 29 nov 2009 Instead of 29 nov 2019 for the year of birth of my child.
I’m asking if there is a chance that this error can be corrected and accepted during the interview.
Thank you
June 18, 2024 at 19:15
Correct that in the DS260. Unlock if needed.
June 18, 2024 at 15:31
Hi simon its me again. I did my interview at the Nairobi Embassy and received a refusal 221g and they asked me to send my sons birth notification to them via DHL which I did, the CEAC status was was refused however today while randomly checking after my shuft at work it read ” Administrative Processing ” status what does this mean for my case.Regards.
June 18, 2024 at 19:14
That status shows when they are printing the visa. 🙂
June 20, 2024 at 09:14
Hi Simon the status changed to issued as you had said. Thanks.
June 21, 2024 at 08:51
Nice!
June 18, 2024 at 15:08
Hi Simon, if i made a mistake in date of birth, say instead of February, I entered march in my lottery submission form, all other information is correct. Now I won, can I put in the correct Month in the DS-260 form?
June 18, 2024 at 19:13
Yes.
June 18, 2024 at 15:01
Hi Simon,
I received the 2NL for my interview in August (FRN). However, there are no appointments for the medical exam available before my interview date.
Are there any potential problems when scheduling the medical after the interview?
Thanks for your work!
June 18, 2024 at 19:13
Take the date you can. That will normally be OK, but also look for a cancellation.
June 18, 2024 at 13:33
Hello Simon,
I’m a single applicant from Italy who will be interviewing in Naples in a couple of weeks. I have some concerns regarding the public charge situation. For context, I’m 24, speak English, am in good health, and am a single applicant with a few years of experience in food service. I have a full-time job lined up in LA (line cook/chef) for when I move.
The issue is that my US employer insists on me contacting them after the visa is issued, meaning they have no intention of providing a job offer letter before the interview, which I could show to the consular officer in case they ask. I have no US relatives to provide an affidavit, and a bank statement is also not viable for me right now.
Do you think it could still do if I verbally explained to the consular officer that I have a job ready, providing details about the location and the person I spoke to? The worst that can happen is a 221(g) and not a straight-up refusal if the other documents are okay, right? What would you do in this case?
Thanks
June 18, 2024 at 19:11
If they ask about that, explain your plan. They may ask for other financial proof, which could be personal savings (of over $10K) or an I-134. Public charge causes 221g, if anything.
June 18, 2024 at 12:08
Hi Simon, hope you have a good day!
Finally I received my 2nl on last Wednesday, anw i come from Indonesia and will be interview at Jakarta Embassy.
I checked what the next step to do after received 2nl is to register online before the interview, and i almost done (Step 8) the register but have problems while confirm my Case ID.
It said : “The Case ID that you have entered cannot be found (2024AS000141XX)”
But i already make sure so many time the case number already correct.
My question is :
– Case ID and Case Number are the same?
– Do you have any suggestion what to do if appear pop-up message like that?
(The Case ID that you have entered cannot be found (2024AS000141XX))
Or do you have further explanation about this register online before interview?
Hope you mind to answer this question, thankyou before sir🫡
June 18, 2024 at 13:33
Maybe remove the zeros between AS and 141xx
June 18, 2024 at 21:55
Hello, thankyou for your kind answer.
I tried to removed the 000 still can not.
Maybe i will try again today☺️
June 18, 2024 at 19:07
All I can suggest is waiting a few more days then trying again.
June 18, 2024 at 21:57
Ok noted, will try again in few days.
Thankyou for your respond🫡
June 18, 2024 at 12:01
Hi Simon
What can you say about performance of Frankfurt. Is it backlogged?
June 18, 2024 at 19:06
A little, yes.
June 18, 2024 at 23:42
Hello Simon, will Frankfurt being backlogged effect DV2025 winners? I am winner CN EU14xxx from germany.
June 19, 2024 at 00:07
Probably, but at your number you won’t have a problem.
June 18, 2024 at 11:52
Hello Simon
After filling out and submitting the DS-260, when can I check the status.
thank you for all the support
June 18, 2024 at 19:05
You just wait. You could email KCC and ask them, but there is no need to do that now.
June 18, 2024 at 06:02
Hi Simon,
Are you familiar with how the school system works.
If we supposedly get the visas in September and arrive in the US in October, can we enroll our child in a school 1-2 months after the school year’s start?
He is 13 years old.
Thanks.
June 18, 2024 at 19:02
Yes. You can enroll almost as soon as you arrive.
June 18, 2024 at 05:27
Hi Simon,
What should I do if I have travel plans in the timeframe between submitting my DS260 and the interview? I have travel plans to the US and one or two other countries I have not listed. Will I have to unlock the DS260 or can I mention it at the interview? Thanks for all your help.
June 18, 2024 at 19:02
No need to update that more recent travel.
June 18, 2024 at 03:33
Hi simon.
I am the main applicant and me and my husband are medical field and we have the interview in a gulf country next August. My husband resigned his job in the hospital two years back since then he is trying to find a decent job and just recently he is on the process of joining new hospital.
My question is will this matter in the interview and what will we say if they asked about the gab?
June 18, 2024 at 19:00
The truth.
June 19, 2024 at 08:48
What’s your opinion? Will my husband being between jobs for a nearly two year gap cause trouble in the interview?
June 19, 2024 at 00:13
Do you think this will make any trouble for the interview?
June 19, 2024 at 11:19
No
June 17, 2024 at 18:51
Mr simon , looked to the asian region embassies , most of them are upto the bulletin other than few embassies like Ankara, Abudhabi.
Does it indicate they make more cases current for asia? How many people will be current roughly next bulletin plz as I’m a bit nervous for my 16.9k🥹.
Lot of respect for your efforts❤️
June 17, 2024 at 21:01
No, that is not connected in that way.
June 18, 2024 at 07:35
How much we can expect for Asia in the final VB?? As you predict earlier 22000 can we expect?
June 18, 2024 at 19:04
I actually said the cutoff could come as soon as 17K and that is might (*maybe*) go as high as 22K. That prediction is looking possible, but 22K looks more risky now.
June 17, 2024 at 15:15
Hello Brit, hope you doing well.
My brother said when he checked for DV 2025 at internet cafe they told him he has been selected for further processing. I try to check using his information but it says information is not valid ( Am sure I out the correct info) . Is there other things I can do? He lives in a place where there is limited internet access.
Thank you
June 17, 2024 at 16:32
Not valid means you are making a mistake in the data entry.
June 17, 2024 at 16:50
I put the correct Confirmation number, last name and year of birth . ( I am 100% sure ) the info I am entering is the one in the dv submission confirmation page . I don’t want to post personal information here in public otherwise I would post the submission confirmation page here .
June 17, 2024 at 17:32
Email it to me at XXXXXXXXX
June 17, 2024 at 18:36
Just emailed you. Thank you
June 17, 2024 at 18:56
I get the error also. The only thing I can suggest is that he uses the Forgot confirmation number link on the ESC page with requires slightly different information.
If that doesn’t work, I have no other suggestions of what might have happened.
June 17, 2024 at 19:41
please update me if you come up with any other suggestions and thank you for your help
June 17, 2024 at 15:02
Is it possible that my wife takes the interview and medical in mexico and I will do it in Germany? Or we both have to do it together at the same location?
June 17, 2024 at 15:06
You can split the interviews, but that introduces some delay and risk, so I would only do that if the interview is early in the year.
June 17, 2024 at 15:22
Thanks Brit. I have to send an email to KCC for the request or I can set it up on the DS 260?
June 17, 2024 at 16:33
You would have to arrange it with the second embassy once the principal case is scheduled. KCC won’t help with that.
June 17, 2024 at 13:53
Hey, we are a young family of three from Germany. (1y, 27y, 30y)
Our savings are around 100-120k cash and around 25k in watches and jewelry.
Is there any chance it isn’t enough?
My parents house is also mine -on paper. Should I declare it? it only belongs to me on paper.
June 17, 2024 at 15:05
Should be fine.
June 17, 2024 at 13:51
Dear Brit S, Could you please advise, I am a 2025 Winner in Africa, due to some marital issues I am not sure if it would be a good thing to move to the US with my partner considering the current situation, what could be the implication of being married with kids but choose partner not travelling with me? would the partner still be required to come to the interview? would the fact that they are not moving affect the case negatively?
June 17, 2024 at 15:05
The only impact could be whether you can overcome the public charge concerns.
June 17, 2024 at 16:17
I do have means to support myself so can’t be at public charges but my question is due to the above issues uncertainty of the future of the marriage, would my partner still be required for the interview even if she is not coming with me after I change her state to partner not travelling with me to the US? but still travelling with my kids would that raise any concerns or impact my case in any way? please advise
June 17, 2024 at 16:35
You would have to prove that you have court ordered custody of the children (or an agreement from the mother). The mother would not be required for the interview.
June 18, 2024 at 05:27
AF72522, got current in this visa bulletin, do you think I’ve a chance of been schedules for interviews with the us embassy in Monrovia?
June 18, 2024 at 19:02
Yes
June 17, 2024 at 13:09
Hi Simon. hope this reaches you well. My spouse has been selected for DV2025. I live in the UK and I have already applied for a spouse visa for her and she will shortly join me to the UK (fingers crossed). I want to ask you if it makes a difference if my spouse fill the DS260 in Africa or later when she comes to UK.
also, she is a refugee where she is in Africa and does not have a passport. can she fill the passport number part with refugee card number when filling DS260.
thanks
June 17, 2024 at 15:04
Her location makes no difference to when she files the DS260.
She can use the refugee card number.
June 17, 2024 at 08:30
Hello Simon, I got selected on DV2025, received a letter along with temporary EAD card for 6 months. My current L1B visa is expiring on Sep-06-2024. Can I file I485 now? in that case can I continue to stay in United States until I get my GC? Appreciate if you can advise. Thanks,
June 17, 2024 at 08:46
No you cannot file now. You have to wait for your turn as denoted by your case number.
June 17, 2024 at 08:56
Thank you Simon! Can I continue to stay in US until my date is current? Can you please advise if possible
June 17, 2024 at 09:04
I tend to avoid AOS questions, and leave those to the real expert – Sm1smom – thread below.

June 17, 2024 at 11:31
Hello Brit, I got current in may Af67K at the Dakar embassy, but no 2NL yet. Do you think I will get scheduled??
June 17, 2024 at 13:04
Dakar embassy is very backlogged – so it is very unlikely they will schedule your case, in my opinion. I’m sorry.
June 17, 2024 at 14:12
Thank you for your reply
June 17, 2024 at 07:01
Hi
1.will Africa increase upto 80k for the next VB??
2.What will be the affrica’s quota?
3. What do u think about Africa’s embassy’s performance? Because upto now only 12000 visas has been issued
June 17, 2024 at 08:00
1. Maybe
2. Nearly 24k
3. There are 12400 issued, nearly 2800 in 221g and over 9000 people scheduled. So – they can get near the quota with a good September.
June 17, 2024 at 06:13
Hi BritSimon
Have you heard of people with strong proof of savings (more than 15k per person) still being asked for an affidavit of support ? If yes, is it rare ?
thank you!
June 17, 2024 at 07:01
Yes – and yes that would be rare.
June 17, 2024 at 03:30
Hi, Mr.Simon. I’m 2024EU 110**. My case is current for July. However neither July nor Avgust I was scheduled for interview. For August last case with 2nl was 10800. I am thinking for transfering my case to Tadjikistan, because I can legally stay there for 30 days without visa. but i am not sure about how much time transfer will take. should i transfer or wait till september?
June 17, 2024 at 07:00
The final interviews will be arranged in a few weeks. If you wait until September that would be too late to change.
June 17, 2024 at 02:03
Hi Simon,
I hope you’re well!
Thanks once again for all your hardwork, I almost finished DS260 form.
I have two questions.
1. I’m a marketing & Sales associate in the company where I go to the office almost every day. I I’m also a freelancer virtual assistant and I work as a remote freelancer digital marketing specialist with clients who are located in different countries around the world.
My question is the following: There is no Marketing field in the job occupations, when I’m trying to add other for the first and second position, despite the fact that I’m adding different locations (Office and my apartment as I’m working from home) It says occupations are duplicated.
Would it be ok if I add communications for my main activity which is marketing and sales associate and add other for freelancer VA services?
2. Me and my husband both are vaccinated but we need to do the boosters. So, for now I don’t have any documentation stating that I have vaccinations but I will do it before interview. Which field should I check in the vaccinations, yes or no? Will it cause issues that vaccine certificate is issued after filling DS form?
My case number is very low, 2025EU500, Will it cause any issues that I’m sending DS form now?
Once again, thank you for all your hard work!
June 17, 2024 at 06:59
1. You can decide.
2. Select yes. Get boosters (with documentation) if available before the medical.
Your late submission will probably delay your interview a little, but that is not a problem.
June 18, 2024 at 08:55
Thanks so much for your response! I already did booster today for Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTaP) & Poliomyelitis. We will do the rest in the coming days as they asked for blood tests.
Do they still need the vaccination certificate from my childhood? I’m from Georgia currently in France and at the hospital they’ve said that archive is lost.
June 18, 2024 at 19:05
Get what proof you can.
June 17, 2024 at 01:31
Hi Brit simon,
Earlier in this question section, I saw that you mentioned 2024AS22*** might have a chance. However, in your live session yesterday, you mentioned the cutoff will mostly be below 17***. My number is 2024AS22***. Do I still have a chance?
June 17, 2024 at 06:57
Obviously you still have a chance – I can’t be 100% certain in any prediction.
June 17, 2024 at 07:04
Thanks for the reply. But in the last live session, you mentioned the cutoff for Asia will be around 17-19k or maybe less than 17k.
June 17, 2024 at 07:57
And that is a prediction. Not fact.
June 17, 2024 at 01:06
I am from SL having AS33000 case number. No hopes. Is this the last VB results that was released recently?
June 17, 2024 at 06:56
There is one more VB for DV2024
June 16, 2024 at 22:38
Hi Brit,
Af50K Egypt, in Nepal’s embassy.
As you’ve seen Nepal didn’t assign interviews for Africa so far, and I am afraid I am losing my chances of an interview.
1- Is it possible to contact other embassies (while being now current), and ask if they can get me an interview at their embassy on other countries? So I can have the interview there instead of Nepal? Does that work?
2- Is so, do you have suggestions of what I ask or add to the email?
Thanks,
June 17, 2024 at 06:51
1. Better to move before being current, but of course it is possible to contact other embassies. That doesn’t mean they will be guaranteed to help.
2. No – I don’t have a magic bullet.
June 16, 2024 at 21:17
What probability would you place on a 2024SA3500? In South America will we see current in August or September?
June 16, 2024 at 22:20
I think 3500 is possible, but somewhat risky.
Current is extremely unlikely.
June 16, 2024 at 16:59
Hi Sir! I won DV eu2025; Russian passport; case 32xxx; interview in Abu Dhabi, any chance to be current and get interview and get green card?
June 16, 2024 at 22:18
Maybe – but risky.
June 17, 2024 at 04:44
Hi Brit… Am AF70k Nairobi just saw that I filled high school no degree on my Ds260 and I have the high school certificate will this have any effect when receiving my 2nl.thanks in advance
June 17, 2024 at 07:01
No
June 17, 2024 at 07:34
Sir, do you have any information about Russian passport holders about limitation? Maximum case number of winners last year, or maybe this year? Maybe after 20xxx – there is small chance. Thank you sir. Anyway i will try)
June 17, 2024 at 08:01
I’m not sure I understand your questions, but I have no special insight into Russian cases.
June 16, 2024 at 16:57
Hello Brit,
One question my wife and I submitted the ds-260 in June 2023 for the 2024 dv lottery and we put the address were we live now but we will need to move to another address in a different town.
Do we need to unlock the DS-260 and change the address or it is not that important for the interview?
June 16, 2024 at 22:18
Not important.
June 16, 2024 at 16:29
Hi Brit ,
I intended to study after I reach the US as I have already put it in my Ds 260 Form as I am a DV 2025 winner ;are they going to ask for a Affidavit of Support form or Bank Statement?
June 16, 2024 at 22:17
Possibly, yes.
June 16, 2024 at 16:12
Dear Mr Simon, thank you very much for your time and assistance! I’m Alex, a DV-2024 winner from Russia, case 31***, Post Warsaw. As far as I understand, due to the backlog there is only a little chance for me to be invited in September even when my case will be current. Do I need to try to transfer my case or better just wait and hope for a 2NL from Warsaw. Thank you!
June 16, 2024 at 22:17
This really is something you must decide, but if you are going to move you must do it now.
June 16, 2024 at 16:04
Hey Simon,
Thanks for the good job you have been doing
I am a winner of the dv lottery 2025 with case no AS8XXX.
In my registration for lottery dv2025 on Oct 2023 I did mistake in level of education, I selected vocational school instead of some of university courses, also, there is a spelling error in my email address.
I corrected them in my ds 260 application and I have received the confirmation of ds 260 via a letter to the correct email
Will that corrections pose any problems during the process of my application and interview?
Thank you
June 16, 2024 at 22:16
No
June 16, 2024 at 15:56
Hello simon!
My case (2024AF61k) will go current in August. My DS260 still says at KCC. Is that normal or I should already be seeing a different status than “At KCC” ?
I have filled DS260 15 days after DV 2024 results.
June 16, 2024 at 22:15
Hard to answer without knowing the embassy.
June 17, 2024 at 13:07
Sorry. Casablanca.
June 17, 2024 at 15:00
Well we need to wait and see how many interviews they can schedule.
June 16, 2024 at 15:50
Pasting my question from your live on youtube as you did not have the chance to get. to it: Hello Brit DV EU2024 28K (Sofia embassy). My number finally got current. I have filled my ds260 in may 2023. Will I have any trouble receiving my 2NL. Please let me know and thanks in advance!
June 16, 2024 at 22:15
They take a very small number of interviews so it is difficult to predict their behavior. You just have to wait and see.
June 17, 2024 at 00:21
what happens if they don’t send me a 2NL this month. Do I wait for the next one or do I just get skipped and nothing happens?
June 17, 2024 at 06:56
Some people lose their chance.
June 17, 2024 at 08:23
I am sorry for being needy and asking again, however do you know if we are being notified for losing our chance? What are the usual reasons for this to happen? If it’s not a problem for you and you have more insight I really would appreciate a more thorough answer.
Thank you for everything Brit.
June 17, 2024 at 08:46
They only notify you if you are scheduled. That is based on your case being processed, your case number being current, and the embassy having interview slot availability. They don’t explain the reasons why some cases miss out.
June 16, 2024 at 15:35
Hello Brit,
I’ve just had my interview appointment set with the June 15 update.
Do I need to submit a marriage certificate for the country I’m a resident of or only the country where the marriage have originated?
Also, regarding financial documents, what exactly should we bring with us to the interview? The State Department website does not seem to mention any financial related documents to bring to the interview.
June 16, 2024 at 22:13
1. Where the marriage happened.
2. https://britsimonsays.com/all-about-public-charge-affidavit-of-support-i-134/
June 16, 2024 at 13:54
Hi Simon, this is Ash, my case is current in June VB, my case is shown as of 15th June at NVC, what are the risks not to get a 2nl?
2024AS13XXX, ABD
Moreover, ABD have interviews till AS9688 CN
June 16, 2024 at 22:12
Really – you just have to wait and see.
June 16, 2024 at 07:58
Hi Brit ,
Thanks very much for all the effort you are doing . My case is AF61k from Egypt , interview is AUH what do you think about interview in September. Or no way ?
I believe you can tell me how many Egyptian cases between 50k and 65k
June 16, 2024 at 10:03
1. I don’t know your chances.
2. I don’t know the number of Egyptian cases.

Dv-2024 72522 Monrovia, my number is current, do you think I’ve the chance of receiving 2nl and be schedule for interviews?
June 16, 2024 at 22:18
Maybe.
June 16, 2024 at 07:37
I have been selected for DV2025, my case number is OC165X my wife and I have our passports and we are waiting for our children’s passport which will be ready in the month of July. Is it too late to fill in our DS260 in the month of July?
June 16, 2024 at 10:02
No
June 16, 2024 at 19:01
Hey Brit. I don’t know if this question may seem silly but what does a 2nl look like, and how is it sent ( is it sent in the previous confirmation mail where the ds260 was accepted or it’s a different mail on it’s own). I’m kind of lost and I’m AF73k for YDE Cameroon and i hope to get my 2nl soon.
June 16, 2024 at 22:20
The 2NL is two parts.
First you get a generic email that says nothing except to check the ESC page (which is where you saw the selected letter)
Once in the ESC page you now see the appointment details.

Hellow sir..
Regarding DV 2024
Is there any perticular reason not to increase vb in asia even there are considerable amount of visas to be issued
June 16, 2024 at 09:36
They are managing it well, and can reach the quota with perhaps a small VB increase.
June 16, 2024 at 10:12
Mr simon , how much is small increase in terms of numbers plz? Mine is 2024AS16.9k
I’m becoming hopeless.
June 16, 2024 at 10:29
That’s possible.
June 16, 2024 at 11:49
Can they reach quota 9000 visas for Asia with 19000 cutoff?
June 16, 2024 at 22:11
Yes for sure.
June 16, 2024 at 22:59
Hi Britsimon, can we expect half (22000) of the maximum cutoff number (42000) for Asia to be current? . One year I have waited with lots of hope.
June 17, 2024 at 06:52
That is not guaranteed, no.
June 17, 2024 at 20:02
Thanks for the reply.
So it’s mean 2024AS22000 won’t get a chance this time?
June 17, 2024 at 21:01
It means wait and see
June 16, 2024 at 03:30
Hello BritSimon,
2025OC6XX. I’ve opened my DS260 twice already. RE the social media questions, I’ve just remembered I opened a Facebook account 3 years ago when my dog was born. I deleted it after six weeks. I also opened an Instagram account in late Feb/early March 2022 to see if friends in Ukraine were safe. I deleted it after 2 weeks. Should I open my DS260 for a third time to update these details?
Thanks, Nick
June 16, 2024 at 09:34
No
June 20, 2024 at 06:32
Ok thanks Mate, I may seem nervous as a cat opening the DS260 multiple times, but this is a big deal for me, as I’ve always wanted to live in the USA. I don’t want to cock it up.
Your resource is by far and away the best on the Interwebs. I, like many others, are very grateful for the work you do. And much respect for Xarthisius. Legend.
One final question if I may.
I enter the US through the Visa Waiver Program and ESTA. My current ESTA expires 8 August 2024. I am planning on travelling to the US in October 2024 for 2 weeks. Therefore I’ll need to apply for a new ESTA prior to departure. My DS260 has already been lodged.
I travel to the US regularly (twice a year). I own property here, have full time employment here, own other assets here, etc. I am definitely coming back to Australia to get on with life and await the DV process (go current, AV queue, 2NL, interview, etc), but I will move to the USA if I’m successful.
However, there is no question asked on the online ESTA application where one can state they are seeking future immigration to the USA. Obviously the CBP officer would have that information at hand, so could there be the possibility I get refused entry to the US when I travel in October 2024?
You have previously answered a question on YouTube re the situation where the ESTA has not expired, but what if someone wants to apply for a new ESTA after lodging the DS260?
Will the DS260 cause issues for me entering the US under the Visa Waiver Program?
Cheers.
June 21, 2024 at 08:42
Apply for the ESTA (being honest). If it is approved (which it probably will) then you will have no problem on entry.
ESTA is a visa waiver program. Because you are there on a waiver, you cannot adjust status, and therefore do NOT present a risk because you have immigrant intent.

Hi Britt, 2024AS12xxx, Iranian, male, embassy: Montreal, got the 2NL, my interview will be in Aug. 2024. Due to the probable “administrative process,” is there any hope for getting a visa? They mentioned if I fail to obtain a DV-2024 visa by September 30, 2024, my registration will expire.
Thanks
June 15, 2024 at 18:47
That is the known risk for Iranian cases at the end of the year. You have to decide whether to take the gamble or not.
June 15, 2024 at 13:23
Hi Simon I was interviewed in Malaysia and I am from Somalia after the interview I was placed under 221g ap and I am not the only one it seems like they place every man from my country under ap also they don’t make a decision at a reasonable time there are people that have been interviewed in January and are still in ap .what to do
June 15, 2024 at 18:44
There is nothing you can do except wait and hope.
June 16, 2024 at 05:25
What about hiring a lawyer .is that worth it ?
Also, is the embassy obligated to give you a response before the time window ends?
June 16, 2024 at 09:37
The embassy are not obligated, no.
Up to you about a lawyer. There is no guarantee that would help
June 15, 2024 at 12:49
Is Monrovia having a backlogs?
Am asking due to the length of time they took to sen out 2nl till the last day of the month May 31, thereby sending up to 90. And with the just released bulletins am seeing it difficult for them to send out 2nl this month…what do you think?
June 15, 2024 at 18:43
I would not be worried about that Embassy.
June 15, 2024 at 11:59
hey simon
I am a winner of the dv lottery 2024.
due to whatever reason, I thought I correctly completed the submission of my DS-260, until yesterday I checked again and to I was surprised to see the my ds form is marked as incomplete, will the submission of my ds 260 this late (I submitted yesterday 14 june 2024) affect my chances to get an interview, since I expect my number which is situated at around 70k in africa ?
please answer me at your earliest convenience.
June 15, 2024 at 12:12
This won’t affect you in any way because your DS260 will be processed before your number becomes current.
You have a year to wait – so the “earliest convenience” was unnecessary.
June 15, 2024 at 22:13
can you please clarify what did you mean by “You have a year to wait ” ? . Note that I am talking about the DV lottery 2024 , So I found out that I was among the selectees on May 2023, and to my knowledge we still have only the window from now until september 2024 to have a visa issued.
Please kindly clarify this to me, it will be much appreciated. Thank you
June 16, 2024 at 09:31
Ahhh, I saw the submission date and assumed you were dv2025.
So you will have to wait to see if they can process your ds260 in time. There is nothing else you can do.
June 16, 2024 at 10:50
Thanks for the reply, just a follow up question do you have any idea of the possible range of days or months to get my DS260 processed.
Thanks again for all your dedicated efforts
June 15, 2024 at 11:14
Hey Simon,
If they Plan to use all the Visa is it possible that will cancel Interviews in September. I am asking for eu Region.
And what Numbers would be at Risk?
June 15, 2024 at 12:09
I don’t think they will overschedule appointments as they did last month. As it is they already need a good number of interviews in August and September to get close to the global quota, so there is no need to worry about them cancelling interviews.
June 15, 2024 at 04:25
Hello Simon just came across your blog and its very informative.
My Fiancé is a dv2025Af53xxx winner. I am a residence of Qatar for more than 2 years now and we are planning to get married before July then file the DS-260 ,is it okay if we schedule our interview to Doha Qatar since she will also be relocating with me in a couple of months and terms of Embassy performance should we stick to Nairobi or Doha
June 15, 2024 at 10:09
It is too early to know how embassies will perform almost a year from now, but right now NRB is the best embassy.
