Hi Simon thanks for the informative videos.
1. I have a read a question here of someone from Ghana saying after her case was current she received an email from kcc informing her that she’s ready for scheduling but she has not received her 2NL. Well I thought kcc only emails you to direct you to check your entrant status for the 2NL which has replaced the 1NL. Is it possible to get the email and not have the 2NL as a result of backlog from the embassy?
2. My case is AF 2024 73k. Nairobi. Am current and I have noticed Nairobi has scheduled till 72k. It usually sends out one batch plus one single case for the previous two months. Should I expect that if this remains so, I may have to wait for the next scheduling next month at about the same date for September interviews? Thanks
June 24, 2024 at 08:23
1. Yes, that is exactly what the backlog means.
2. Yes
June 24, 2024 at 03:19
Hello Simon. Do you know what case number range Yaounde scheduled for the month of August. In your video last week, someone mention they have scheduled till 70k, but i am unable to verify this using ceac data.
June 24, 2024 at 08:21
I don’t know.

As a 2025 DV selectee, my happiness is over the moon, but have unfortunately been overshadowed by the gutting uncertainty of the process.
A possibility of failing to get a green card for whatever random or dumb reason (Trump, Montreal DS5535, being a of Syrian origin etc..) has not allowed me to share my happiness with my friends about the fact of me getting selected.
I wish I can time travel to my interview date just to see the outcome. Iโm looking at about at least a 7 month wait just to get a glimpse. Iโm fortunate enough to have a moderately low CN (AS35XX). Most previous FYs have shown that this CN will go current in January.
Itโs funny how my YouTube feed and recommendations have quickly changed from cars and boring Engineering student material before May 4th to it being all about US immigration (lmao) after May 4th. The algorithm at that. Seems like not much I can do in the interim.
The nice thing I want to share is that I visited Detroit by car last weekend with a pending DS-260 under the DV for a quick same day trip. Itโs a 3 hour drive from Toronto. I was waved through with barely any questions. I guess itโs nice to be able to visit the US while waiting. Then again I have NEXUS (Global Entry for Canadians) and visited the US mostly on one day visits. Not sure if that has to do with anything.

“Hope”, not “expect”
June 23, 2024 at 18:13
Hi Simon, Thank you for your help. My number is 2025AS74** and I live in Canada for 10 years now but I applied from my birth country. Do I need to provide a police certificate for the interview? Police certificate is the required document for the interview. Thank you.
June 23, 2024 at 20:02
Yes. Read the instructions that make it clear.
June 24, 2024 at 08:31

June 23, 2024 at 15:34
It is FAR too early to be worrying about this.
June 23, 2024 at 14:24
โโHi Simon! , I’m a 2024 dv winner and just paid the gc fee before going to the us next week, it is necessary to create a uscis acc? because i heard from other dv winners that they created one the same day they were selected , this affect my dv process? and what kind of questions cbp are going to ask me? I’m 20 years old without any credit history , properties or criminal acts , was a university student but ended dropping it last year because i had other plans. Thank you for your time.
June 23, 2024 at 14:41
You will need an account on Elis to pay tyhe fee. Other than that, there are no more questions to think about…
June 23, 2024 at 18:10
oh…but I paid the gc fee without creating an account on uscis , put my a-number and my case number , all the credit card info and it said that the process was made correctly. Did I do something wrong?
June 23, 2024 at 20:01
That’s OK then.
June 23, 2024 at 14:12
Hi Simon, I’m a DV2021 winner who is still waiting for court ruling on Goodluck case. my question is that I have had a 5 year valid B1/B2 visa to US that I never used and I’m worried that might be red flag when showing up for the interview as this might be seen as being “not serious”. would that affect my chances of getting accepted ? or this is completely okay ? the reason I didn’t travel is because it was Covid time and then I got busy doing other things. my embassy is in Egypt which is a notorious for being a stubborn embassy. thank you
June 23, 2024 at 14:40
Overthinking a non issue.
June 23, 2024 at 14:11
Hello Simon, is there chance that Case No: 2024AF119589 can get 2NL and get be scheduled for interview for August 2024 or September 2024?
June 23, 2024 at 14:39
No
June 23, 2024 at 14:06
Hi Brit simon
My aunt has interview next month (Nairobi embassy)
Question
1) is it a requirement to bring birth certificates for her children over the age of 21 ?
They are not listed as derivatives but just as normal children she has ever given birth to.
June 23, 2024 at 14:39
1. No
June 23, 2024 at 13:49
Dear Simon, what are chances for DV 2024EU34000? Bosnia & Herzegovina, and how do we know if we should change the embassy or not?!
Thanks in advance!
June 23, 2024 at 14:39
You were a pain in the butt on the live session. Ask once and wait.
I am not 100% sure you will get current, but if you do I am also not sure whether your embassy would take the case since they haven’t taken any cases at all in 2024. So – you should probably change your address to another country, just in case you become current.
June 23, 2024 at 13:02
Hi BritSimon,
I just found out a few days ago that I’m a DV2025 selectee (2025EU00020XXX).
Do you think that submitting the ds-260 form at the end of July may result in rejection of my application (too late).
I would like to get married to my girlfriend before submitting the form and not sure the end of July would be too late for submitting it.
Thank you in advance!
June 23, 2024 at 14:35
That would not be too late, but also you could submit now as single, then unlock and add your spouse once married.
June 23, 2024 at 11:28
Hi BritSimon, let me take a second and thank you for everything youโre doing for the DV-community. Helping us navigating through the ins and outs of this extremely complicated process during your free time is admirable. Your in-depth knowledge paired with your vast experience in this field is highly appreciated.
I am a DV-2025 winner (EU78xx). I am aware that I got double lucky with a relatively low case number, and I want to make sure that I have all the required paperwork ready to go once the 2NL will be sent out (I anticipate that to be around the end of this year / latest Jan/Feb next year). My country of chargeability is Germany however, I have been, and I am still living in Texas on a non-immigrant VISA since 2019. I will be soon relocating to Europe however not to Germany, Iโll be moving to Spain in Oct 2024. I donโt really have a preference on MAD or FRA but on the DS-260 I picked MAD solely based on the anticipation that I will be residing in Spain, and it is going to be much easier getting to Madrid vs. spending airfare on flights to Germany. Listening to your videos and reading through your blogs you always emphasize itโs not a free pick where to interview, KCC is going to assign the case to the embassy what they think is in accordance with their guidelines and the FAM. My questions to you:
#1: I submitted my DS-260 June 1st. How will I know when my DS-260 was processed? Do I get an email notification? Do I need to periodically check on the CEAC page? Or is it just waiting to receive the 2NL at some point?
#2: Is there a chance to find out (before the 2 NL is sent out) which embassy KCC picked for me once they processed my DS-260? It does make a slight difference in the paperwork that is required for MAD and FRA.
#3: Once I relocated to Spain would you unlock the DS-260 and update the current Texas address to the new one in Spain?
Thanks again for your help.
June 23, 2024 at 12:36
1. You won’t be told unless you email them and ask. However, you can just wait since asking won’t speed up processing.
2. You can ask them by email. Since you are in the USA now, their “normal” selection would be your home country or country of last residence. So – you might want to explain why you selected Spain and see if they will respect that choice.
3. Yes.
June 23, 2024 at 10:02
Hello Mr Simon can you explain to me why Africa won’t be current this year?
June 23, 2024 at 12:31
Because they selected 55000 people from AF region and there are only 23/24k visas available.
June 23, 2024 at 09:29
Hi Simon
CN 2024 23k
KCC just moved my case from Ankara to Frankfurt
When sending 2NLโs, will my case number matter, or my case now at the end of the AV queue?
June 23, 2024 at 12:29
I don’t know for sure.
June 23, 2024 at 00:47
Hi Sir,
1.Out of 69000 total, can we expect 13000 total to Asia? Same as 2022 year?
2. If nearly 13000 total to Asia, can we expect 9500 visas to be issued to Asia?
June 23, 2024 at 12:19
1. That depends on KDU, they could easily put 13000 in reach if they take a large batch on 2Ns. If they don’t, we won’t see 13k
2. Again, KDU is the key.
June 23, 2024 at 21:35
I second your opinion, Mr. Simon. In the very beginning to DV2024 (like Jan 24), you explained us 3500 visas shall be issued for one country as maximum. Is it for the number visas under one embassy for one embassy or the number of successful visas of citizens for a particular eligible country under either one or several countries? It seems the number of possible visas issued/to be issued (ready status) to date is around 2800 under KDU, approaching to the limit.
June 24, 2024 at 08:16
The limit is 7% of the global quota – so it means 3850. The limit is applied to the country, wherever those visas are issued, not the embassy.
June 22, 2024 at 12:03
Hi Simon
I am writing to request confirmation regarding some of the initial registration information in my current application. I am feeling anxious and worried about this matter and would like to ensure that I have filled out the information correctly.
Could you please provide me with the following information:
– Can you verify the information I provided in the initial registration of my application?
– Are there any additional steps or documents I need to submit to complete the registration correctly?
– How can I ensure that I have provided the correct information in the initial registration?
I appreciate your assistance with this matter. I look forward to receiving your response at your earliest convenience.
June 22, 2024 at 12:41
1. No
2. I don’t know.
3. Read the instructions.
June 22, 2024 at 11:12
Hey Mr Simon,
please I am trying to be prepared for all the paperwork needed, My question is what are all the documents I need to present as qualified worker, right now i am tracking a letter head from my old boss, what else do I need?
June 22, 2024 at 12:40
If you are qualified by education, you will not be asked much about your work experience.
However if you are noty qualified by education, then for work experience show whatever you can show. LLetters from the employer, pay statements, work output, CV/resume – use your imagination.
June 22, 2024 at 08:49
Hi Simon,
I have been chosen for the dv visa.
I currently live in Canada and I have a US tourist visa.
If move to the state and adjust my status will this move guarantee me to obtain the green card?
My case# is AS252xx
June 22, 2024 at 09:45
There are no guarantees in this process. You don’t mention the year, but that case number is too high in DV2024, and might be too high in DV2025. AOS doesn’t overcome that problem.
June 22, 2024 at 10:12
Hello sir, I got the DV this year and I’ve received my 2NL but am confused in the process of registering for an appointment. Please can you make a brief video on how to register for confirmation of appointment?
June 22, 2024 at 10:39
The process varies from embassy to embassy, but in all cases you should be able to get registered with a bit of common sense.
June 22, 2024 at 07:53
Hi Simon,
I hope you’re well!
I have a question regarding birth certificate.
I was born in Russia but I have Georgian Citizenship and lived in Georgia since I was 1 year old. My original birth certificate was from Russia. Unfortunately We’ve lost original one during the move and Georgian government issued me with the integral copy of the birth certificate. My mom’s and dad’s name are included as well as place of birth. I do have a photo of the original birth certificate.
In original certificate my birth place was: Kransozerskoe, region of Novisibirsk, Russia . In Georgian one it’s written just Novosibirsk Russia.
1. What should I do in this case? Can it cause any issues on my interview?
2. Can I put in DS260 my birth place as it’s in the original birth certificate?
Thanks a lot
Anna
June 22, 2024 at 09:43
1. You can’t do anything else from what I understand.
2. Novosibirsk is accurate.
June 22, 2024 at 09:49
Thanks so much for your response!
I’ve got two more questions.
1. In original lottery entry I’ve putted Krasnozerskoe. Can it cause problems If I put Novosibirsk in DS260?
2. I do have a copy of my original birth certificate. Can it work if I make a certified, notaried copy and translation for this document and include both in my interview?
Once again, I can’t express my gratitude towards you and your work. I went through 300 pages today in this comments and it’s helping me a lot. Unfortunately I couldn’t find similar situation to mine or wouldn’t bother you.
Thanks again!
June 22, 2024 at 10:41
1. No
2. Use your judgement
June 22, 2024 at 07:29
Hey Simon! I was taking a look at the checklist and it said “we now only accept long-form birth certificates”. What does this mean exactly? The certificate I have has all the information such as parents name, birth place and time etc.
Thank you!
June 22, 2024 at 09:41
A long form certificate has space for BOTH parents. That is the key difference.
June 22, 2024 at 10:16
Hello sir, I saw an instruction from the website stating that I should send a copy of my passport to KCC. What can I do about it
June 22, 2024 at 10:41
Documents are not required to be sent to KCC.
June 22, 2024 at 14:13
So if both my parents names are on it, it should be alright? The birth certificate is not A4 in size itself.
June 22, 2024 at 15:02
Then it’s fine
June 22, 2024 at 02:10
Hello Britsimon..
I am DV24 selectee and CN is 2024AF35K** which had an interview almost two months ago but my case was placed on 221g. I receive email from the embassy two days ago which stated:
“Dear Applicant,
Please provide your travel itinerary with a travel date that is 3 weeks from today’s date.
Kind regards,”
1- So, They have asked me to sent a Travel Itinerary which is somehow a ticket booking and they specifically stated that the travel date is 3 weeks from the day I receive the email. my question is it okay if I somehow sent to them a ticket booking which is prior to that date. For instance, a travel date which in the second week.
2- Once they have asked me to send a ticket booking, is this mean that they have completed the 221g process.
Thank you
June 22, 2024 at 09:36
1. I find their request a bit odd. Perhaps the timeline is based on the medical date? Send what you can.
2. That is likely, but I can’t be sure.
June 22, 2024 at 13:53
Yeah, me too really no receive such thing but some friends told me its ticket booking and by the way my medical haven’t expire yet and there is still 3.5 months to go but send to them a ticket booking. I will see what they will say in the next email
June 22, 2024 at 01:05
Hello BritSimon. Our case number is 2024EU355**, so what do you think, should we start to take vaccines or our case number is not about to be current? What are your predictions for EU region?
June 22, 2024 at 09:34
We will see the VB in less than 3 weeks, so I’ll wait and see.
June 21, 2024 at 19:36
Hi Simon
After today CEAC releases data , you have mentioned Asia and Europe region we can expect a jump for next VB. My case number is 2024AS225**. Can I expect my number to be current for next VB?
June 22, 2024 at 09:33
Not that much of a jump. I don’t expect anything like that much.
June 21, 2024 at 19:12
Hello Simon. Thank you for volunteering your time. Watched your recent videos on Ankara being behind and new policies to embassy changes. 2024AS0210XX (family of 3) from Iran with a possibility of my husband getting into AP status just because he is an Iranian male. Not very hopeful but we will do what we can. 1NL shows Ankara. DS260s were completed immediately in May/June with us requesting Abu Dhabi as the embassy we want in DS260s.
1. Will KCC see our request and send us to ABD so we can receive the 2NL from ABD?
2. If not, should we request a change this late in the game so hopefully if we get current for Sept, we have a good embassy to go?
3. Trying to understand Xarthisiusโ charts, looks like ABD is a better option compared to YRV with less 221Gs and more cases completed. Our other options can be Doha, Tbilisi, Baku, Muscat, Jakarta, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpurโฆ
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
June 22, 2024 at 09:32
You obviously have a lot of risk. Those risks are
1. Your case number is not likely to become current at all.
2. As you mentioned the chance of AP is very high, and the chance to clear in time when interviewing in September is very low.
3. KCC might accept your request to change embassies, but there is no certainty, and there is very little time to do anything about that.
Sorry, but I don’t see a lot of hope.
June 21, 2024 at 12:28
hey Mr Simon,
please what documents would you need to submit to verify your working experience?
June 22, 2024 at 07:19
Monrovia hadn’t send 2nl since the latest visa bulletin, are they having backlogs? Am 2024AF72522 and current!
June 22, 2024 at 09:40
They received 2NLs for July on May 31 – the last day of the month. It would not surprise me to see them receiving a late 2NL batch this month. In that case they won’t have backlog.
June 21, 2024 at 10:58
Hello Brit,
I hope you are doing fine?
I have few questions, my number is current in this visa bulletin 2024EU29K from Paris embassy. Ds submitted on June,1st 2023 but I havenโt received the 2NL. Iโve seen number above mine received 2NL in Frankfurt but I donโt see how much were sent in Paris. Iโm a little bit scared about the number of visa left in Europe.
– Do you know, when I might received the 2NL?
– Do you think Paris has a backlog?
– and I ve seen on some forum that you donโt need to translate the documents such as birth certificate if your interview is in the same country, is it true or should I still translate it in English?
Thank you in advance for your reply, I followed your videos, live sessions and everything but Iโm scared because the DV lottery is almost over for this 2024 year so sorry if I asked silly questions.
June 21, 2024 at 12:11
Paris has not taken 2NLs for August interviews yet. There is time for them to do that before the end of the month. Once they do, I don’t think they will be backlogged.
For interviews in Paris, documents can be in French or English.
June 21, 2024 at 04:07
Hello Simon,
Hope youโre having a great day! This is Cafer from Turkey. My case number is 2025EU57xx. I asked you before about Ankara. You said if I would move, I should do it early. Iโm planning to transfer my case to HNK, Hong Kong. What do you think about it? Iโd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you.
June 21, 2024 at 09:07
HK is OK.
June 21, 2024 at 03:25
Hi Simon,
We just submitted our DS-260. To prepare better, will my wife also need to provide documentation of her academic and work experience, knowing that Iโm the principal applicant.
Thanks for tour help !
Best regards,
Mehdi
June 21, 2024 at 09:06
She should answer all the questions on the DS260.
June 20, 2024 at 14:04
Dear Simon,
Good evening!
My case number is 2024AS14xxx and current in bulletin this month 10 Jun 2024.
I work in DR Congo so I put my interview location is Kinshasa. Now when I check the latest case on Kinshasa embassy โReadyโ is only 2024AF16xxx and that case 2NL date was on 11 April 2024 means that this case got 2NL only after 4 months of its bulletin current. Now Africa region current number is up to 75K.
When I tried to contact KCC and asked about my case they just reply me like โYour case number is current for interview processing. If you are scheduled for an interview date, you will receive notification via email to check http://…โ
I think here in Kinshasa, new cases are not getting 2NL due to embassy is very slow.
Do I have chance to get my 2NL here in Kinshasa?
What if I go back to my home country (Burma) and ask the Rangoon embassy to take the case to there? Will KCC and Rangoon embassy do the transfer? Now in Rangoon latest โReadyโ case is 2024AS149xx almost same as highest current AS number 15K.
Kindly advise.
June 21, 2024 at 08:59
You should have taken action BEFORE becoming current! You have created a very significant risk by not doing so.
You might be able to get changed to Rangoon by contacting them, but it won’t be an easy thing. The Rangoon embassy has to be motivated to contact KCC on your behalf. If they don’t do that, KCC won’t help, and you will probably lose your chance.
Act now!
June 20, 2024 at 13:20
Hi BritSimon, I am humbly requesting your guidance in this process my case number is 2025AF00081.
Foreign State Chargeability: SOUTH AFRICA
Post: JOHANNESBURG. Please.
June 21, 2024 at 08:53
Just go ahead and read some of the guides I have created, watch my videos, and if needed, ask questions.
June 20, 2024 at 11:09
Hello Simon, should I unlock my DS260 for DV2025, I made one spelling error in the name of the institution.
Thank you!
June 21, 2024 at 08:52
Not for that.
June 20, 2024 at 07:04
Good day Simon, I hope you are well!
I have just received my interview appointment for Frankfurt and had some questions I wanted to ask.
1) As a current student who also put studying as something I will do when I enter the United States (I am going on the basis of my high school completion), do I need to prove a significant amount of savings? Like does the $10,000 rule apply to me as well?
2) Being a native English speaker (score 8.5 in IELTS), do you think it will help the office make a decision on my visa approval?
3) If they do end up asking for financial proof, could I provide my parent’s income and agreement for support as proof?
4) Since I need to translate my birth certificate to English/German, should I use some kind of a certified translator? I could not find information about that anywhere on the US site.
Thank you for your continued support, and if it weren’t for you, I would not have known to take the right steps for my case (would still be stuck in Ankara). I would like to deeply thank you for your dedication and would recommend anyone reading this that if you want to know the best way to handle your case as a DV winner, trust everything BritSimon tells you and try to take as much knowledge from his videos and blogs as possible.
June 21, 2024 at 08:48
1. They may ask about finances to avoid you becoming a public charge. Savings, and I-134 or a real job offer are all ways to satisfy that concern.
2. No impact on the decision.
3. No. If your parents wish to support your move they can do so by giving you cash so that you have substantial savings.
4. Does not have to be a certified translator. Just someone able to say they are competent.
So glad you moved your case.
June 20, 2024 at 06:41
Hi Simon! I’m a dv winner from Peru and I completed all the process (medical exam , interview , they give me the sealed envelope with my visa in my passport , and finally bought the flight tickets) but a friend of mine (that won the dv lottery the last year ) , just told me that I have to pay 220 dlrs for the green card through a uscis account , but I didn’t create any because no one told me to do it, am I in trouble? the pay is only with a us credit/debit card? is there a problem if I have less than one month to travel according to my visa? is there a minimun amount of money that i have to carry at cbp? please i would be really really grateful if you asnwer my doubts.
Thanks in advance.
June 21, 2024 at 08:44
Yes you have to pay a fee – it is paid online and can be paid before or after the entry. The GC won’t be sent until you have entered and paid the fee (which is now $230).
There is no minimum amount of money you need to carry.
June 20, 2024 at 06:26
Hi, Britsimon.
This is my prediction. What do you think about this? Please correct me if there mistakes?

Hallo Brit simon
Thanx, I finally got my 2NL Nairobi embassy
Question
1-can I get affidavit of support from my home country relative (bank statement) or liquid cash
2-can I book my medical appointment one week before my interview and wonโt be an issue
Thanx a lot

1. An AoS has to be provided by a US resident. If you have sufficient cash in your accounts, that may negate the need for an I-134.
2. Ask the physician if that is enough time.

Hi Simon, I went to university in India over 15 years ago but am a Kenyan citizen. Should I provide a police abstract for India? My interview is in July and I have a police certificate for kenya
June 21, 2024 at 08:34
You should have done yes. However, luckily for you, India will not provide a police cert for a non Indian residing outside of India, so you will not be required to produce one at the interview.
Read the instructions!

Hi Simon,
I have a question about travel information. So we are Georgian and we live in France its been 5 years already. First we traveled to France from Georgia on February 6th 2020, After that returned to Georgia and then came back after 1 month to work. We live in France its been almost 5 years. Our interview will be in Paris as well. I was wondering, in travel section of DS 260 should I put France and Georgia in this case?
June 21, 2024 at 08:31
You don’t change your “living” address for a 1 month vacation.
June 20, 2024 at 00:14
Hi BritSimon,
Thank you for everything you do. I have a question please.
I am in Accra/Ghana, I filed my entry with a marital status of single and no kids at that time because i did not intend to travel with my kids/spouse. Now, my kids want to come onboard.
I am yet to submit my DS260. Will i be able to add my kids now or i will just have to proceed per the original entry application?
Thanks,
Ricky.

Unless you can afford to lose the fees my advice would be to stop now. You lied in the entry and you should not continuing lying as that is immigration fraud.

We had to Open ds260 EU30500 for our son cause something changed do you think that is a Problem Right before we Go current?

No

hi Brit, I am 2024EU29K winner living in USA on H1B Visa. I will be doing consular processing and have interview scheduled for August. I have a question regarding the work experience verification. I worked for the same organization for 5 years but in 2 different business units with different legal names. In the ds260 I indicated them as 2 separate. The first business unit was subsidiary, I worked from 2019-2022. And the second business unit is the parent company itself.
I have a employment verification letter that I received in 2022 that I am still employed in the first business unit. And I also have another EV letter I got today from parent company. But there it says that I was employed since 2020 instead of 2019 because of the acquisition happened in 2020.
Are those 2 employment verification letters good to present or should I ask my employer to write another one stating that I worked from 2019 to 2022 at subsidy company and 2022 to present in the parent company?
June 19, 2024 at 23:15
Present what you have, it won’t be a problem.
June 19, 2024 at 22:31
Hello Simon, I recently completed a DS260 form, and when I checked my wife’s form (she is not primary applicant).
Have you traveled to any countries/regions within the last five years?
I typed Yes and listed two countries, but it did not appear, and there is no Yes or No option selected.
Please advise on if I should unlock my DS 260 form and resubmit.
June 19, 2024 at 23:20
I have never heard that. It might be intended because she is a derivative. So, you should de ide for yourself.
June 20, 2024 at 05:45
Will there be any issue if we decide not to update her trip information, but I am not sure why it isn’t appearing because that information was filled out and submitted. If we want to unlock DS 260, should the primary applicant email KCC, or should my wife send?
June 21, 2024 at 08:37
To unlock a derivative you email with all your details and then clearly ask to unlock the specific form you want unlocked (by name)
June 19, 2024 at 12:47
Hi Brit,
Please I won DV lottery 2023-2024 with the case number 2024AF00028921From Accra-Ghana. I have completed my DS-260 and I received an email from KCC in January 2924 that my case is now ready to schedule for interview but till now I have not received any email from the embassy. Please is there a reason or when should I expect my appointment email for interview.
Thank you.
June 19, 2024 at 21:41
Accra are very backlogged. They will not schedule an interview for your case number. I have been advising people in Accra to move to another embassy since January. You have probably left it to late.
June 20, 2024 at 00:22
I am concerned about this response. I am also in Accra per my earlier question sent to you with even lower case number 2025AF00010xxx. In this case, which embassy do you suggest we apply to be interviewed at and how do we go about it, if i get you right and if you think i am in a similar situation?
Thanks.
June 21, 2024 at 08:30
In your case it won’t matter Ricky as you will be disqualified if you proceed.
June 19, 2024 at 12:15
Dear Brit
Please can you help me with this, on the reciprocity (Ecuador)page it states that I can print my police record online, my question is regarding this statement: โPlease send a copy of the Ecuadorian police certificate to the National Visa Center (NVC)โ. I need to send it physically and how do I send documents to NVC? Or this means I should take a copy to the interview?
June 19, 2024 at 21:38
Just take it to the interview.
June 19, 2024 at 08:48
Hey Simon,
why do you think Frankfurt is backlogged? They sent 2NLs till number 29902. They are so close to 30k I thought they weren’t?
June 19, 2024 at 21:37
Just a little backlogged in AF region. Nothing significant.
June 19, 2024 at 07:59
Hi Simon, thank you for the goodjob.
I and my partner live together and married customarily last January. we both played the lottery last year as single entrants since are not legally married. I have a child which i made the entry with as my derivative, but my wife didnt (as she is the stepmom).
However, my wife is selected for the dv2025.
1) can we both file in for the ds260?
2) if yes, can we declear the child but not at the moment moving with the child for any reason, or is it a must for the all decleared members to go?
June 19, 2024 at 21:35
1. You need to get legally married then yes you can all go.
2. All three would be eligible, but not all three need to go. However, it would be considered odd not to take the child, and it would take YEARS to reunite the family if not done through DV.

Hey Simon
I am a DV2024 selectee that has a 21k case number from Turkey, I just move to Georgia to move my case and have an interview here. I have send emails to both KCC and Georgia Consulate with the proof of my existence in this area (official Georgian stamp in my passport page), my employement document (i get in to a short term job and get a document from there with stamp and signature) and even my accomidation booking of 3 month. But both KCC and Consulate have rejected my request. Here is what Consulate says in their response to my mail:
“Unfortunately, the Embassy does not provide any exceptions, and only accepts residents of Georgia and Azerbaijan with a resident card.”
I did not mention about the FAM rules or anything in my mail, i just talked about my proofs in their juristiction area, and here their answer. What do you think i should do next. Is there anything that i can say to change their mind? You have any advice?
June 19, 2024 at 21:33
You should have included the FAM wording. Try that, and point out that the new rules say they “must” take someone who is physically present in their area. You have to point out the new rule politely, but firmly.
June 24, 2024 at 06:35
I have used the FAM wording in my last email but have the same seemly automated response about they do not accept any transfer without residency card. It seems like they do not even read the mails, and even when they do they do not care to following the guidelines because they do not have any consequences when they do not follow. I will keep mailing them till i get banned, you got any advice about what should i say or what should i point out in my mails?
June 24, 2024 at 08:27
I don’t have any magic wording. If I were in that country, I would try and visit the embassy.
June 19, 2024 at 07:39
Good Morning Mr Brit, please my question is, I am currently serving in the Ghana military for over a little of two years, does it qualify as an experienced job for the DV?
June 19, 2024 at 21:31
Probably not, but it might be accepted depending on your rank. If you are an officer, then perhaps, but military jobs are not described in Onetonline.
June 19, 2024 at 06:42
Hi BritSimon
Can I present a bank statement from my parents’ account instead of mine (I have a bit below 10k myself) ? If yes, do I need an affidavit saying that they agree to ”gift” me the money ?
thank you
June 19, 2024 at 21:27
You would need the money in your account and the agreement that it is a gift.
