Although the website for the lottery has not yet announced it, the instructions for the new lottery have already been quietly posted online. I have been “watching” the location for the instructions, and my script picked it up this morning.
So – the instructions are here.
Important notes, as expected the passport IS NOW REQUIRED. Because of that, I expect entry numbers to be lower this year – which means this could be your best chance of selection for years…
Also, there is no mention of NACARA, which means for the first time in years the program will start with a FULL allocation of 55,000 visas. That is also great news. The NACARA allocation seems to have been officially returned to DV earlier this year with a small allocation for NACARA for DV2020. So DV2020 will have up to 54650 visas available (i.e. 350 allocated for NACARA). That information was published in the Visa Bulletin this morning.
The entry period will start on October 2nd and run until November 5th 2019. The results will be available in May 2020.
Anyone can enter the lottery – even current DV2020 applicants if they want. There is no harm in entering. There is no change in the countries eligible.
I will be publishing a video about entering, with tips to give you the best chance possible – so please look for that in a few days.

Good morning sir,
Currently i’m seeking asylum in us from 4 years but still pending. Do i can apply for dv lottery? If it is yes being asylum can be a problem to the dv case?
Thanks
September 18, 2019 at 15:45
You can apply for the lottery.
September 18, 2019 at 16:10
Dear sir but If i get selected i hope to apply adjustment of status because i can’t return my to CP but forums says to apply AOS i should be in non immigrant status and asylum is not a non immigrant status.
September 18, 2019 at 16:36
Apply. The chances of selection are once in 200 years. IF you get selected, you can talk about it then.
September 23, 2019 at 09:13
Dear Sir,
While I am waiting for the F4 petition approval that applied by my brother who is US citizen, can I apply DV application?
September 23, 2019 at 19:29

Hi Britt, do you think the requirement for Passport will affect non-immigrant visa if you are not selected for the DV2021?
September 18, 2019 at 22:15
I can’t see your concern.
September 18, 2019 at 15:53
Hi I`m a 2020 winner. But my case number is high. AS27xxx . Is it ok apply for DV 2021 when I have already submitted a DS260.?
September 19, 2019 at 11:21
Yes you can,
September 18, 2019 at 16:20
Thank you Simon for the confirmation. I will go renew my passport soon. Btw, a 17 years old eligible to apply on his own or needs to attach to the parents ?
September 18, 2019 at 16:42

September 18, 2019 at 17:09
Firstly, Thanks a lot to Britsimon for sharing information. However, I have one question, the information is not published in USCIS Visa bulletin for Oct ?
September 18, 2019 at 19:13

September 21, 2019 at 06:41
Hi brit
When applying for the DV 2021 as an principle applicant with passport,do I also need to provide a passport number on the application form for my 3years old daughter?
September 21, 2019 at 15:24
No
September 27, 2019 at 02:26
Hi Brit,
I will like to know from you. I have two kids from different mother and derivative applicant.
My wife is the principal applicant who applied before and earlier on. I got married to her after she has applied for the dv lottery and selected as well. Now that she has been selected can we fill the DS- 260 form and in the derivative applicant should I include my kids name as me been the husband?
September 27, 2019 at 23:29
Yes
September 18, 2019 at 17:18
If my passport will expire in December 2019 do I have to renew it before I apply?
September 18, 2019 at 19:13
No
September 18, 2019 at 19:48
My passport of my birth and dv eligible country expires on the 20 October. I have a second nationality and passport which doesn’t expire soon, but it’s not an eligible country for the dv lottery. Should the valid passport be of an eligible country? Should I just apply before the 20th on my dv eligible passport OR rather use my non eligible passport which doesn’t expire any time soon?
September 18, 2019 at 22:11
No it does not matter if the passport is from a country which is eligible or not. BUT You must have been born in an eligible country.
September 18, 2019 at 21:24
I did my interview and I was told to do DNA with my two children which I did August 19 2019. since then I haven’t heard from the embassy and time is running out September 30th is almost here what can I do?
September 18, 2019 at 22:10
All you can do is wait. You can’t rush them.
September 18, 2019 at 22:18
Hello
Will the child need passport information?
September 18, 2019 at 22:21
No.
September 18, 2019 at 22:47
Good morning Sir,
Could u kindly advise thst a defacto couple relationship should select single due to defacto not being recognised for dv lottery..
Many thanks
September 18, 2019 at 22:49
That is correct. The Australian Defacto relationship is NOT recognized. Enter as single (both if you want) and get married if either of you win.
September 19, 2019 at 02:47
Hi I`m a 2020 winner. But my case number is high. AS24xxx . Is it ok apply for DV 2021 when I have already submitted a DS260.?

4. I don’t know which middlename to use now for my passport since i bear both name
5. On my school credentials i have “SEGUN” as my middlename.
What can i do please because I’m yet to do my passport..
September 19, 2019 at 13:56
You have been asking questions here for 2 months. I have said a passport would be needed, and you only just now applied for the passport???
No one cares about your bank account. Your documents need to be legitimate and accurate. That’s all.
September 19, 2019 at 15:10
Ohk thank you sir
September 20, 2019 at 05:35
Hi brit

September 19, 2019 at 17:18
Thanks mr britsimon
September 19, 2019 at 19:12
Hi brit,
Ok so I was going the 2021 instructions and then I went to the miscellaneous section and I read question 39. It no longer says that we need to provide i-134 to prove that we will not be a public charge. It says we need to follow the new public charge guidelines….my question is I am still a full time student and not earning anything bt the the time I do my interview I would be doing my 3rd year and then just have 1 more year to complete my program.
September 19, 2019 at 19:14
Will I do able to get the visa??? Or I will not due to the new public charge guidelines.
Thank you.
September 19, 2019 at 20:46
Get an I-134.
September 19, 2019 at 20:42
There is no question there…
September 19, 2019 at 21:26
hello brit. it seems that there was only one change in the eligible countries.
Guatemala is no longer eligible.
True?
September 20, 2019 at 01:17
Yes you are correct – based on the instructions we have seen. Of course there is a chance they change this prior to the official release – but for now – that looks correct. .
September 19, 2019 at 22:11
Hi Brit, I have a few questions?
I am dual British and Romanian citizen born in Romania, but living and working in London.
1. Can I use my British passport since it has longer validity?
2. We are a family of 3. I earn about £65k. I am 45 years old. We have savings of about $70k. Would that be enough to overcome public charge for London embassy, and do they usually ask for I 134 in London?
3. 20 years ago I was a student in the USA and got Associate of Science 2 year degree. What should I choose for education on the form?
Thanks
September 20, 2019 at 01:20
1. Yes
2. They do ask for the I-134, but your savings should be adequate.
3. List all education. They will be most interested with your O and A levels. You need at least 2 good A levels – preferably three.
September 20, 2019 at 15:20
Thank you for your reply.
Just to clarify when I fill in the dv2021 form,
Should I tick university degree or some university courses? I have AS degree from US college?
September 20, 2019 at 22:59
It doesn’t matter – choose whichever you want.
September 19, 2019 at 23:27
Hello Brit,
I went for interview early this month and after one week I was asked to bring my passport and two passport size photographs…. I checked at ceac. Com, the status is “Issued” your visa has been printed will be available for pickup soon… But its over a week now, what do u think I can do… Because nobody has called me..
September 20, 2019 at 01:22
Exercise patience.
September 20, 2019 at 08:58
Can I apply using my current passport even though I had applied to have my passport replacement to the new e-passport in Kenya? My current passport expires in 2021. I expect my new passport will be out in late October or early November.
September 20, 2019 at 22:28
Yes
September 20, 2019 at 09:02
Brit, so this new requirement will apply to everybody including your children? they need to have passport too brit
September 20, 2019 at 22:28

September 20, 2019 at 09:44

September 20, 2019 at 23:00
The form is changed immediately.
September 20, 2019 at 21:39
Has the “new photo” requirement always been there? I have been using the same passport photo for five years in a row. May that have been a reason for not winning? 🙂 How strict are they about it?
September 20, 2019 at 23:13
No it’s not new – you just don’t seem to have read the instructions. They toughened up the way they describe the rule over the last couple of years, but the rule was always there.
September 20, 2019 at 23:07
Very Important I win the Lottery in 2000
Returned to Australia in 2007
Can I re apply now again in 2019 ?
Thanks
September 21, 2019 at 06:21
Hello Mr. Brit, been reading your opinions and instructions since forever, I didn’t have the luck to be selected yet, but one has to hope right? I just wanted to ask you about the new 2021 entry instructions, I have a little daughter, she’s 14 months old, when entering this year do I need to have the passport of her for entering? Because she’s yet to have a passport. I am planning to enter twice, one for me and one for my wife. Thank you for what you do.
September 21, 2019 at 15:23
No passport needed for a child.
September 22, 2019 at 11:29
Thank you very much.
September 21, 2019 at 16:50
They have deleted the file
September 22, 2019 at 00:27
Yes I know! Funny huh!
September 21, 2019 at 16:54
State department could make changes in the registration rules again. They have suspiciously deleted the pdf file that I have found through google by searching “DV-2021” with dash before I read this article. I have given this information to thousands of people as well. What if things change and they recall passport requirement who knows!.
September 22, 2019 at 00:28
That’s a stretch of the imagination.
September 22, 2019 at 07:08
Help Brit, though this has been explained early, for the purpose of clarity, you say that once a Visa has been issued you can go and live anywhere and not necessarily the address of the state you filled in your DS 260. Now will this at any time delay or completely fail to obtain your Green Card and other related documents while in the US. Am made to understand that failure to obtain this documents is like at a later stage you will be “an illegal immigrant” . Or first report to the early address then get your documents before you can go anywhere so that you get the documents first. Any experience on the same can help me as I plan to seek a different destination.
September 22, 2019 at 19:19
You are overthinking and worrying for nothing. You can live anywhere – with no problems. You are obliged to inform them of address changes. Just make sure the address on the DS260 is somewhere that the GC can be delivered with no problems.
September 23, 2019 at 06:52
Hi Brit,
My case is currently at KCC.
1. Can I enter for dc lottery 2021 ?
2. If my current processing leads Visa, is there be any issue ?
September 23, 2019 at 13:03
1. But Why?
September 23, 2019 at 19:19
1. Yes
2. No problem.
September 23, 2019 at 08:40

September 23, 2019 at 09:26
HI, I would like to ask is there any official reference which mention about 55000 and not 50000 for DV2021? Or do you think they will announce such important change?
September 23, 2019 at 19:29
I showed that in my video.
September 23, 2019 at 12:37
Hi Sir, just got the news and I haven’t applied for passport yet and looking at the DV being near and giving opportunity to those who play it first. Can get your guide?
September 23, 2019 at 19:41
If you want to enter you need to apply for your passport asap.
September 23, 2019 at 12:41
If I’m successfully gone through the various stages of this program, would I still require some as amount of money on my account or need a financial support from US legal resident?
September 23, 2019 at 19:41
You should have a proper plan about how to survive in the USA.
September 24, 2019 at 14:45
